Abstract

This document contains information from and about Project AchievE (sic), a program that was developed in Pennsylvania's Cumberland Valley School District to enable adults with or without a General Educational Development certificate to earn a regular high school diploma by mastering competencies in the following categories: government and law; occupational knowledge; health; consumer economics; community resources; and global studies. The following items are included: final report explaining how the AchievE model was developed and modified by three Pennsylvania educational agencies to meet their local needs; AchievE brochure outlining the program's application, placement, review, and completion processes; original proposal for the adult high school diploma project; sample partnership letter describing the partnership between Pennsylvania Blue Shield and the Cumberland Valley School District; training manual; student workbook; and time data log and student learning report forms for each of the six subject areas covered in the program curriculum. The student workbook outlines the objectives and competencies addressed in each subject area, and the teacher training manual contains the following: program goals; description of target population; program overview; procedure for conducting the program; guidelines for recruiting students; program calendar; program budget; competency lists; program application; and sample letters.
