Abstract

As inquiry learning has begun to permeate all areas of the curriculum, educators and school librarians across the United States have employed information process models such as Pathways to Knowledge(R) to teach students how to effectively gather, evaluate, and use information, as well as develop their critical thinking skills. Following the Information Literacy Standards set forth by AASL and AECT, the Pathways Model offers a proven technique for students to pursue inquiry and ultimately become lifelong learners. Building on the previous work "Pathways to Knowledge(R)" (1997), this new and expanded guide gives a detailed overview of the Pathways Model and discusses inquiry learning, collaboration, instructional strategies, electronic tools and resources that enable the research process, and strategies for integrating inquiry learning into the curriculum. Examples, scenarios, and resource suggestions are provided throughout the text, and appendixes include three thematic units, graphic organizers, and reproducible planning guides. Includes an index.
