Abstract

A study of the prevalence of developmental disabilities in racial groups found the estimated rate was 1.1%, with the highest rate among blacks. Households that had individuals with developmental disabilities were lower income and more dependent on welfare programs. Minority status exacerbated differences in income and access to welfare.
