This paper presents the design of and transient time simulations for a four-pole magnetic bearing with permanent magnets. The usage of permanent magnets reduces the consumption of electric energy in comparison to a traditional active magnetic bearing. Permanent magnets are installed in the yoke of the stator core to limit the cross-coupling of the magnetic flux generated by the windings. The first part of this paper presents the design of the magnetic bearing and its finite-element model, while the second part describes the field-circuit indirectly coupled finite-element model for the transient time simulation. The presented simulation model was used to calculate the transient response for the rotor lifting from the starting position, the step change in the rotor position and the change in the rotor position under an external impact force applied along the y-axis. With the application of encoders in artificial intelligence and aerospace, the demand for the miniaturization and high measurement accuracy of encoders is increasing. To solve this problem, a new absolute matrix encoder is proposed in this paper, which can realize 19-bit matrix coding by engraving two circles of matrix code, and has the advantages of fewer circles of code disk engraving and higher measurement accuracy. This article mainly focuses on the design of a new matrix code disk, encoding and decoding methods, decoding circuit design, Matlab simulation analysis, and experimental error analysis. Underwater optical imaging for information acquisition has always been an innovative and crucial research direction. Unlike imaging in the air medium, the underwater optical environment is more intricate. From an optical perspective, natural factors such as turbulence and suspended particles in the water cause issues like light scattering and attenuation, leading to color distortion, loss of details, decreased contrast, and overall blurriness. These challenges significantly impact the acquisition of underwater image information, rendering subsequent algorithms reliant on such data unable to function properly. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for underwater image restoration using Stokes linearly polarized light, specifically tailored to the challenges of underwater complex optical imaging environments. This method effectively utilizes linear polarization information and designs a system that uses the information of the first few frames to calculate the enhanced images of the later frames. By doing so, it achieves real-time underwater Stokes linear polarized imaging while minimizing human interference during the imaging process. Furthermore, the paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the deficiencies observed during the testing of the method and proposes improvement perspectives, along with offering insights into potential future research directions. The concept of digital twins is one of the fundamental pillars of Industry 4.0. Digital twin allows the realization of a virtual model of a real system, enhancing the relevant performance (e.g., in terms of production rate, risk prevention, energy saving, and maintenance operation). Current literature presents many contributions pointing out the advantages that may be achieved by the definition of a digital twin of a water supply system. The Reference Architecture Model for Industry 4.0 introduces the concept of the Asset Administration Shell for the digital representation of components within the Industry 4.0 ecosystem. Several proposals are currently available in the literature considering the Asset Administration Shell for the realization of a digital twin of real systems. To the best of the authors' knowledge, at the moment, the adoption of Asset Administration Shell for the digital representation of a water supply system is not present in the current literature. For this reason, the aim of this paper is to present a methodological approach for developing a digital twin of a water supply system using the Asset Administration Shell metamodel. One of the main lines of research in distributed learning in recent years is the one related to Federated Learning (FL). In this work, a decentralized Federated Learning algorithm based on consensus (CoL) is applied to Wireless Ad-hoc Networks (WANETs), where the agents communicate with other agents to share their learning model as they are available to the wireless connection range. When deploying a set of agents, it is essential to study whether all the WANET agents will be reachable before the deployment. The paper proposes to explore it by generating a simulation close to the real world using a framework (FIVE) that allows the easy development and modification of simulations based on Unity and SPADE agents. A fruit orchard with autonomous tractors is presented as a case study. The paper also presents how and why the concept of artifact has been included in the above-mentioned framework as a way to highlight the importance of some devices used in the environment that have to be located in specific places to ensure the full connection of the system. Since 2015, there has been an increase in articles on anomaly detection in robotic systems, reflecting its growing importance in improving the robustness and reliability of the increasingly utilized autonomous robots. This review paper investigates the literature on the detection of anomalies in Autonomous Robotic Missions (ARMs). It reveals different perspectives on anomaly and juxtaposition to fault detection. To reach a consensus, we infer a unified understanding of anomalies that encapsulate their various characteristics observed in ARMs and propose a classification of anomalies in terms of spatial, temporal, and spatiotemporal elements based on their fundamental features. Further, the paper discusses the implications of the proposed unified understanding and classification in ARMs and provides future directions. Optimizing jamming strategies is crucial for enhancing the performance of cognitive jamming systems in dynamic electromagnetic environments. The emergence of frequency-agile radars, capable of changing the carrier frequency within or between pulses, poses significant challenges for the jammer to make intelligent decisions and adapt to the dynamic environment. This paper focuses on researching intelligent jamming decision-making algorithms for Intra-Pulse Frequency Agile Radar using deep reinforcement learning. Intra-Pulse Frequency Agile Radar achieves frequency agility at the sub-pulse level, creating a significant frequency agility space. This presents challenges for traditional jamming decision-making methods to rapidly learn its changing patterns through interactions. By employing Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) to capture long-term dependencies in sequence data, together with the attention mechanism, this paper proposes a GA-Dueling DQN (GRU-Attention-based Dueling Deep Q Network) method for jamming frequency selection. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method outperforms traditional Q-learning, DQN, and Dueling DQN methods in terms of jamming effectiveness. The common channel attention mechanism maps feature statistics to feature weights. However, the effectiveness of this mechanism may not be assured in remotely sensing images due to statistical differences across multiple bands. This paper proposes a novel channel attention mechanism based on feature information called the feature information entropy attention mechanism (FEM). The FEM constructs a relationship between features based on feature information entropy and then maps this relationship to their importance. The Vaihingen dataset and OpenEarthMap dataset are selected for experiments. The proposed method was compared with the squeeze-and-excitation mechanism (SEM), the convolutional block attention mechanism (CBAM), and the frequency channel attention mechanism (FCA). Compared with these three channel attention mechanisms, the mIoU of the FEM in the Vaihingen dataset is improved by 0.90%, 1.10%, and 0.40%, and in the OpenEarthMap dataset, it is improved by 2.30%, 2.20%, and 2.10%, respectively. In this paper, we propose a novel method for monocular depth estimation using the hourglass neck module. The proposed method has the following originality. First, feature maps are extracted from Swin Transformer V2 using a masked image modeling (MIM) pretrained model. Since Swin Transformer V2 has a different patch size for each attention stage, it is easier to extract local and global features from images input by the vision transformer (ViT)-based encoder. Second, to maintain the polymorphism and local inductive bias of the feature map extracted from Swin Transformer V2, a feature map is input into the hourglass neck module. Third, deformable attention can be used at the waist of the hourglass neck module to reduce the computation cost and highlight the locality of the feature map. Finally, the feature map traverses the neck and proceeds through a decoder, comprised of a deconvolution layer and an upsampling layer, to generate a depth image. To evaluate the objective reliability of the proposed method in this paper, we used the NYU Depth V2 dataset to compare and evaluate the methods published in other papers. As a result of the experiment, the RMSE value of the novel method for monocular depth estimation using the hourglass neck module proposed in this paper was 0.274, which was lower than those published in other papers. This survey provides a comprehensive overview of traditional techniques and deep learning-based methodologies for monocular visual odometry (VO), with a focus on displacement measurement applications. This paper outlines the fundamental concepts and general procedures for VO implementation, including feature detection, tracking, motion estimation, triangulation, and trajectory estimation. This paper also explores the research challenges inherent in VO implementation, including scale estimation and ground plane considerations. The scientific literature is rife with diverse methodologies aiming to overcome these challenges, particularly focusing on the problem of accurate scale estimation. This issue has been typically addressed through the reliance on knowledge regarding the height of the camera from the ground plane and the evaluation of feature movements on that plane. Alternatively, some approaches have utilized additional tools, such as LiDAR or depth sensors. As a fundamental issue in robotics academia and industry, indoor autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) have been extensively studied. For AMRs, it is crucial to obtain information about their working environment and themselves, which can be realized through sensors and the extraction of corresponding information from the measurements of these sensors. The application of sensing technologies can enable mobile robots to perform localization, mapping, target or obstacle recognition, and motion tasks, etc. This paper reviews sensing technologies for autonomous mobile robots in indoor scenes. The benefits and potential problems of using a single sensor in application are analyzed and compared, and the basic principles and popular algorithms used in processing these sensor data are introduced. In addition, some mainstream technologies of multi-sensor fusion are introduced. Finally, this paper discusses the future development trends in the sensing technology for autonomous mobile robots in indoor scenes, as well as the challenges in the practical application environments. In the process of repairing the surface of products in aviation, aerospace, and other fields by spraying, accurate 3D cumulative-coating modeling is an important research issue in spraying-process simulation. The approach to this issue is a 3D cumulative-coating model based on inclined spraying. Firstly, an oblique spraying layer cumulative model was established, which could quickly collect the coating thickness distribution data of different spray distances. Secondly, 3D cumulative-coating modeling was conducted with the distance between the measuring point and the axis of the spray gun and the spraying distance between the measuring points as the input parameters, and the coating thickness of the measuring point as the output parameter. The experimental results show that the mean relative error of the cumulative model of the oblique spraying layer is less than 4.1% in the case of a 170~290 mm spraying distance and that the model is applicable in the range of −80~80 mm, indicating that the data on the oblique spraying coating proposed in this paper is accurate and fast. The accuracy of the 3D cumulative-coating model proposed in this paper is 1.2% and 21.5% higher than that of the two similar models, respectively. Therefore, the approach of 3D cumulative-coating modeling based on inclined distance spraying is discovered, demonstrating the advantages of fast and accurate modeling and enabling accurate 3D cumulative-coating modeling for spraying process simulation. This paper discusses optimizing desktop image quality and bandwidth consumption in remote IoT GUI desktop scenarios. Remote desktop tools, which are crucial for work efficiency, typically employ image compression techniques to manage bandwidth. Although JPEG is widely used for its efficiency in eliminating redundancy, it can introduce quality loss with increased compression. Recently, deep learning-based compression techniques have emerged, challenging traditional methods like JPEG. This study introduces an optimized RFB (Remote Frame Buffer) protocol based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) image compression algorithm, focusing on human visual perception in desktop image processing. The improved RFB protocol proposed in this paper, compared to the unoptimized RFB protocol, can save 30–80% of bandwidth consumption and enhances remote desktop image quality, as evidenced by improved PSNR and MS-SSIM values between the remote desktop image and the original image, thus providing superior desktop image transmission quality. Satellite clock error is a key factor affecting the positioning accuracy of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS). In this paper, we use a gated recurrent unit (GRU) neural network to construct a satellite clock bias forecasting model for the BDS-3 navigation system. In order to further improve the prediction accuracy and stability of the GRU, this paper proposes a satellite clock bias forecasting model, termed ITSSA-GRU, which combines the improved sparrow search algorithm (SSA) and the GRU, avoiding the problems of GRU's sensitivity to hyperparameters and its tendency to fall into local optimal solutions. The model improves the initialization population phase of the SSA by introducing iterative chaotic mapping and adopts an iterative update strategy based on t-step optimization to enhance the optimization ability of the SSA. Five models, namely, ITSSA-GRU, SSA-GRU, GRU, LSTM, and GM(1,1), are used to forecast the satellite clock bias data in three different types of orbits of the BDS-3 system: MEO, IGSO, and GEO. The experimental results show that, as compared with the other four models, the ITSSA-GRU model has a stronger generalization ability and forecasting effect in the clock bias forecasting of all three types of satellites. Therefore, the ITSSA-GRU model can provide a new means of improving the accuracy of navigation satellite clock bias forecasting to meet the needs of high-precision positioning. As urban economies flourish and populations become increasingly concentrated, urban surface deformation has emerged as a critical factor in city planning that cannot be overlooked. Surface deformation in urban areas can lead to deformations in structural supports of infrastructure such as road bases and bridges, thereby posing a serious threat to public safety and creating significant safety hazards. Consequently, research focusing on the monitoring of urban surface deformation holds paramount importance. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), as an important means of earth observation, has all-day, wide-range, high-precision, etc., characteristics and is widely used in the field of surface deformation monitoring. However, traditional solitary InSAR techniques are limited in their application scenarios and computational characteristics. Additionally, the manual selection of ground control points (GCPs) is fraught with errors and uncertainties. Permanent scatterers (PS) can maintain high interferometric coherence in man-made building areas, and distributed scatterers (DS) usually show moderate coherence in areas with short vegetation; the combination of DS and PS solves the problem of manually selecting GCPs during track re-flattening and regrading, which affects the monitoring results. In this paper, 45 Sentinel-1B data from 16 February 2019 to 14 December 2021 are used as the data source in the urban area of Horqin District, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, for example. A four-threshold (coherence coefficient threshold, FaSHPS adaptive threshold, amplitude divergence index threshold, and deformation velocity interval) GCPs point screening method for PS-DS, as well as a Small Baseline Subset-Permanent Scatterers-Distributed Scatterers-Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR) method for selecting PS and DS points as ground control points for orbit refinement and re-flattening, are proposed. The surface deformation results obtained using the Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) and the SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR proposed in this paper were comparatively analysed and verified. The maximum cumulative line-of-sight settlements were −90.78 mm and −83.68 mm, and the maximum cumulative uplifts are 74.94 mm and 97.56 mm, respectively; the maximum annual average line-of-sight settlements are −35.38 mm/y and −30.38 mm/y, and the maximum annual average uplifts are 25.27 mm/y and 27.92 mm/y. The results were evaluated and analysed in terms of correlation, mean absolute error (MAE), and root mean square error (RMSE). The deformation results of the two InSAR methods were evaluated and analysed in terms of correlation, MAE, and RMSE. The errors show that the Pearson correlation coefficients between the vertical settlement results obtained using the SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR method and the GPS monitoring results were closer to 1. The maximum MAE and RMSE were 13.7625 mm and 14.8004 mm, respectively, which are within the acceptable range; this confirms that the monitoring results of the SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR method were better than those of the original SBAS-InSAR method. The results show that the surface deformation results obtained using the SBAS-InSAR, SBAS-PS-DS-InSAR, and GPS methods have basically the same settlement locations, extents, distributions, and temporal and spatial settlement patterns. In the era of continuous development in Internet of Things (IoT) technology, smart services are penetrating various facets of societal life, leading to a growing demand for interconnected devices. Many contemporary devices are no longer mere data producers but also consumers of data. As a result, massive amounts of data are transmitted to the cloud, but the latency generated in edge-to-cloud communication is unacceptable for many tasks. In response to this, this paper introduces a novel contribution—a layered computing network built on the principles of fog computing, accompanied by a newly devised algorithm designed to optimize user tasks and allocate computing resources within rechargeable networks. The proposed algorithm, a synergy of Lyapunov-based, dynamic Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), allows for predictive task allocation. The fog servers dynamically train LSTM networks to effectively forecast the data features of user tasks, facilitating proper unload decisions based on task priorities. In response to the challenge of slower hardware upgrades in edge devices compared to user demands, the algorithm optimizes the utilization of low-power devices and addresses performance limitations. Additionally, this paper considers the unique characteristics of rechargeable networks, where computing nodes acquire energy through charging. Utilizing Lyapunov functions for dynamic resource control enables nodes with abundant resources to maximize their potential, significantly reducing energy consumption and enhancing overall performance. The simulation results demonstrate that our algorithm surpasses traditional methods in terms of energy efficiency and resource allocation optimization. Hand-gripping training is important for improving the fundamental functions of human physical activity. Bernstein's idea of "repetition without repetition" suggests that motor control function should be trained under changing states. The randomness level of load should be visualized for self-administered screening when repeating various training tasks under changing states. This study aims to develop a sensing methodology of random loads applied to both the agonist and antagonist skeletal muscles when performing physical tasks. We assumed that the time-variability and periodicity of the applied load appear in the time-series feature of muscle deformation data. In the experiment, 14 participants conducted the gripping tasks with a gripper, ball, balloon, Palm clenching, and paper. Crumpling pieces of paper (paper exercise) involves randomness because the resistance force of the paper changes depending on the shape and layers of the paper. Optical myography during gripping tasks was measured, and time-series features were analyzed. As a result, our system could detect the random movement of muscles during training. In the field of inter-satellite laser communication, achieving high-quality communication and compensating for the Doppler frequency shift caused by relative motion necessitate lasers with narrow linewidths, low phase noise, and the ability to achieve mode-hop-free tuning within a specific range. To this end, this paper investigates a novel external cavity diode laser (ECDL) with a frequency-selective F-P etalon structure, leveraging the external cavity F-P etalon structure in conjunction with an auxiliary filter to achieve single longitudinal mode selection. The laser undergoes linewidth testing using a delayed self-heterodyne beating method, followed by the testing of its phase noise and frequency noise characteristics using a noise analyzer, yielding beat spectra and noise power spectral density profiles. Furthermore, the paper introduces an innovative bidirectional temperature-scanning laser method to achieve optimal laser-operating point selection and mode-hop-free tuning. The experimental results showcase that the single longitudinal mode spectral side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) is around 70 dB, and the output power exceeds 10 mW. Enhancing the precision of the F-P etalon leads to a more pronounced suppression of low-frequency phase noise, reducing the Lorentzian linewidth from the initial 10 kHz level to a remarkable 5 kHz level. Stress has emerged as a major concern in modern society, significantly impacting human health and well-being. Statistical evidence underscores the extensive social influence of stress, especially in terms of work-related stress and associated healthcare costs. This paper addresses the critical need for accurate stress detection, emphasising its far-reaching effects on health and social dynamics. Focusing on remote stress monitoring, it proposes an efficient deep learning approach for stress detection from facial videos. In contrast to the research on wearable devices, this paper proposes novel Hybrid Deep Learning (DL) networks for stress detection based on remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), employing (Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), 1D Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN)) models with hyperparameter optimisation and augmentation techniques to enhance performance. The proposed approach yields a substantial improvement in accuracy and efficiency in stress detection, achieving up to 95.83% accuracy with the UBFC-Phys dataset while maintaining excellent computational efficiency. The introduction of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) into the field of rescue operations is an ongoing process. New tools, such as UGV platforms and dedicated manipulators, provide new opportunities but also come with a steep learning curve. The best way to familiarize operators with new solutions are hands-on courses but their deployment is limited, mostly due to high costs and limited equipment numbers. An alternative way is to use simulators, which from the software side, resemble video games. With the recent expansion of the video game engine industry, currently developed software becomes easier to produce and maintain. This paper tries to answer the question of whether it is possible to develop a highly accurate simulator of a rescue and IED manipulator using a commercially available game engine solution. Firstly, the paper describes different types of simulators for robots currently available. Next, it provides an in-depth description of a plug-in simulator concept. Afterward, an example of a hydrostatic manipulator arm and its virtual representation is described alongside validation and evaluation methodologies. Additionally, the paper provides a set of metrics for an example rescue scenario. E-textiles have emerged as a fast-growing area in wearable technology for sports and fitness due to the soft and comfortable nature of textile materials and the capability for smart functionality to be integrated into familiar sports clothing. This review paper presents the roles of wearable technologies in sport and fitness in monitoring movement and biosignals used to assess performance, reduce injury risk, and motivate training/exercise. The drivers of research in e-textiles are discussed after reviewing existing non-textile and textile-based commercial wearable products. Different sensing components/materials (e.g., inertial measurement units, electrodes for biosignals, piezoresistive sensors), manufacturing processes, and their applications in sports and fitness published in the literature were reviewed and discussed. Estimation of vivo muscle forces during human motion is important for understanding human motion control mechanisms and joint mechanics. This paper combined the advantages of the convolutional neural network (CNN) and long-short-term memory (LSTM) and proposed a novel muscle force estimation method based on CNN–LSTM. A wearable sensor system was also developed to collect the angles and angular velocities of the hip, knee, and ankle joints in the sagittal plane during walking, and the collected kinematic data were used as the input for the neural network model. In this paper, the muscle forces calculated using OpenSim based on the Static Optimization (SO) method were used as the standard value to train the neural network model. Four lower limb muscles of the left leg, including gluteus maximus (GM), rectus femoris (RF), gastrocnemius (GAST), and soleus (SOL), were selected as the studying objects in this paper. The experiment results showed that compared to the standard CNN and the standard LSTM, the CNN–LSTM performed better in muscle forces estimation under slow (1.2 m/s), medium (1.5 m/s), and fast walking speeds (1.8 m/s). The average correlation coefficients between true and estimated values of four muscle forces under slow, medium, and fast walking speeds were 0.9801, 0.9829, and 0.9809, respectively. The average correlation coefficients had smaller fluctuations under different walking speeds, which indicated that the model had good robustness. The external testing experiment showed that the CNN–LSTM also had good generalization. The model performed well when the estimated object was not included in the training sample. This article proposed a convenient method for estimating muscle forces, which could provide theoretical assistance for the quantitative analysis of human motion and muscle injury. Scientific-grade cameras are frequently employed in industries such as spectral imaging technology, aircraft, medical detection, and astronomy, and are characterized by high precision, high quality, fast speed, and high sensitivity. Especially in the field of astronomy, obtaining information about faint light often requires long exposure with high-resolution cameras, which means that any external factors can cause the camera to become unstable and result in increased errors in the detection results. This paper aims to investigate the effect of displacement introduced by various vibration factors on the imaging of an astronomical camera during long exposure. The sources of vibration are divided into external vibration and internal vibration. External vibration mainly includes environmental vibration and resonance effects, while internal vibration mainly refers to the vibration caused by the force generated by the refrigeration module inside the camera during the working process of the camera. The cooling module is divided into water-cooled and air-cooled modes. Through the displacement and vibration experiments conducted on the camera, it is proven that the air-cooled mode will cause the camera to produce greater displacement changes relative to the water-cooled mode, leading to blurring of the imaging results and lowering the accuracy of astronomical detection. This paper compares the effects of displacement produced by two methods, fan cooling and water-circulation cooling, and proposes improvements to minimize the displacement variations in the camera and improve the imaging quality. This study provides a reference basis for the design of astronomical detection instruments and for determining the vibration source of cameras, which helps to promote the further development of astronomical detection. Under the conditions of a mechanical fault in a motor, mechanical vibration of a specific frequency can be generated. The electrical contact points directly connected to the motor can vibrate at the same frequency. The electrical contact points with poor contact can easily produce a series arc fault under vibration conditions, which affects the reliability of the power supply. In order to detect the series arc fault under different vibration conditions, the arc fault generator is connected between the back end of the frequency converter and the motor. An arc fault experiment under different vibration conditions was carried out and the fault phase current and arc voltage signals were collected. In this paper, the noise-assisted multivariate empirical mode decomposition and the correlation coefficient between each intrinsic mode function are used to select the fault feature signals. Then, the reconstructed signal is input into the series arc fault model combining a multi-scale convolutional neural network and a bidirectional long short-term memory network for training. The research results show that the series arc fault detection method proposed in this paper can effectively detect the series arc fault and can preliminarily identify the type of motor fault causing the mechanical vibration of the motor; the model has good noise immunity and generalization. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have emerged as an efficient solution for numerous real-time applications, attributable to their compactness, cost-effectiveness, and ease of deployment. The rapid advancement of 5G technology and mobile edge computing (MEC) in recent years has catalyzed the transition towards large-scale deployment of WSN devices. However, the resulting data proliferation and the dynamics of communication environments introduce new challenges for WSN communication: (1) ensuring robust communication in adverse environments and (2) effectively alleviating bandwidth pressure from massive data transmission. In response to the aforementioned challenges, this paper proposes a semantic communication solution. Specifically, considering the limited computational and storage resources of WSN devices, we propose a flexible Attention-based Adaptive Coding (AAC) module. This module integrates window and channel attention mechanisms, dynamically adjusts semantic information in response to the current channel state, and facilitates adaptation of a single model across various Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) environments. Furthermore, to validate the effectiveness of this approach, the paper introduces an end-to-end Joint Source Channel Coding (JSCC) scheme for image semantic communication, employing the AAC module. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme surpasses existing deep JSCC schemes across datasets of varying resolutions; furthermore, they validate the efficacy of the proposed AAC module, which is capable of dynamically adjusting critical information according to the current channel state. Maritime emissions contribute significantly to global pollution, necessitating accurate and efficient monitoring methods. Traditional methods for tracking ship emissions often face limitations in real-time data accuracy, with wind measurement being a critical yet challenging aspect. This paper introduces an innovative mission planner module for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that leverages onboard wind sensing capabilities to enhance maritime emission monitoring. The module's primary objective is to assist operators in making informed decisions by providing real-time wind data overlays, thus optimizing flight paths and data collection efficiency. Our experimental setup involves the testing of the module in simulated maritime environments, demonstrating its efficacy in varying wind conditions. The real-time wind data overlays provided by the module enable UAV operators to adjust their flight paths dynamically, reducing unnecessary power expenditure and mitigating the risks associated with low-battery scenarios, especially in challenging maritime conditions. This paper presents the implementation of real-time wind data overlays on an open-source state-of-the-art mission planner as a C# plugin that is seamlessly integrated into the user interface. The factors that affect performance, in terms of communication overheads and real-time operation, are identified and discussed. The operation of the module is evaluated in terms of functional integration and real-time visual representation of wind measurements, and the enhanced situational awareness that it can offer to mission controllers is demonstrated. The main purpose of this paper is to provide information on how to create a convolutional neural network (CNN) for extracting features from EEG signals. Our task was to understand the primary aspects of creating and fine-tuning CNNs for various application scenarios. We considered the characteristics of EEG signals, coupled with an exploration of various signal processing and data preparation techniques. These techniques include noise reduction, filtering, encoding, decoding, and dimension reduction, among others. In addition, we conduct an in-depth analysis of well-known CNN architectures, categorizing them into four distinct groups: standard implementation, recurrent convolutional, decoder architecture, and combined architecture. This paper further offers a comprehensive evaluation of these architectures, covering accuracy metrics, hyperparameters, and an appendix that contains a table outlining the parameters of commonly used CNN architectures for feature extraction from EEG signals. The point cloud segmentation method plays an important role in practical applications, such as remote sensing, mobile robots, and 3D modeling. However, there are still some limitations to the current point cloud data segmentation method when applied to large-scale scenes. Therefore, this paper proposes an adaptive clustering segmentation method. In this method, the threshold for clustering points within the point cloud is calculated using the characteristic parameters of adjacent points. After completing the preliminary segmentation of the point cloud, the segmentation results are further refined according to the standard deviation of the cluster points. Then, the cluster points whose number does not meet the conditions are further segmented, and, finally, scene point cloud data segmentation is realized. To test the superiority of this method, this study was based on point cloud data from a park in Guilin, Guangxi, China. The experimental results showed that this method is more practical and efficient than other methods, and it can effectively segment all ground objects and ground point cloud data in a scene. Compared with other segmentation methods that are easily affected by parameters, this method has strong robustness. In order to verify the universality of the method proposed in this paper, we test a public data set provided by ISPRS. The zero-velocity update (ZUPT) algorithm is a pivotal advancement in pedestrian navigation accuracy, utilizing foot-mounted inertial sensors. Its key issue hinges on accurately identifying periods of zero-velocity during human movement. This paper introduces an innovative adaptive sliding window technique, leveraging the Fourier Transform to precisely isolate the pedestrian's gait frequency from spectral data. Building on this, the algorithm adaptively adjusts the zero-velocity detection threshold in accordance with the identified gait frequency. This adaptation significantly refines the accuracy in detecting zero-velocity intervals. Experimental evaluations reveal that this method outperforms traditional fixed-threshold approaches by enhancing precision and minimizing false positives. Experiments on single-step estimation show the adaptability of the algorithm to motion states such as slow, fast, and running. Additionally, the paper demonstrates pedestrian trajectory localization experiments under a variety of walking conditions. Truck hoisting detection constitutes a key focus in port security, for which no optimal resolution has been identified. To address the issues of high costs, susceptibility to weather conditions, and low accuracy in conventional methods for truck hoisting detection, a non-intrusive detection approach is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach utilizes a mathematical model and an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) model. Electrical signals, including voltage and current, collected by Hall sensors are processed by the mathematical model, which augments their physical information. Subsequently, the dataset filtered by the mathematical model is used to train the XGBoost model, enabling the XGBoost model to effectively identify abnormal hoists. Improvements were observed in the performance of the XGBoost model as utilized in this paper. Finally, experiments were conducted at several stations. The overall false positive rate did not exceed 0.7% and no false negatives occurred in the experiments. The experimental results demonstrated the excellent performance of the proposed approach, which can reduce the costs and improve the accuracy of detection in container hoisting. Waste material classification is a challenging yet important task in waste management. The realization of low-cost waste classification systems and methods is critical to meet the ever-increasing demand for efficient waste management and recycling. In this paper, we demonstrate a simple, compact and low-cost classification system based on optical reflectance measurements in the short-wave infrared for the segregation of waste materials such as plastics, paper, glass, and aluminium. The system comprises a small set of LEDs and one single broadband photodetector. All devices are controlled through low-cost and low-power electronics, and data are gathered and managed via a computer interface. The proposed system reaches accuracy levels as high as 94.3% when considering seven distinct materials and 97.0% when excluding the most difficult to classify, thus representing a valuable proof-of-concept for future system developments. There is currently a lot of interest in the construction of point-of-care devices stemming from paper-based origami biosensors. These devices demonstrate how paper's foldability permits the construction of sensitive, selective, user-friendly, intelligent, and maintainable analytical devices for the detection of several ailments. Herein, the first example of the electrochemical aptasensor-based polyvalent dengue viral antigen detection using the origami paper-folding method is presented. Coupling it with an aptamer leads to the development of a new notation known as OBAs, or origami-based aptasensor, that presents a multitude of advantages to the developed platform, such as assisting in safeguarding the sample from air-dust particles, providing confidentiality, and providing a closed chamber to the electrodes. In this paper, gold-decorated nanocomposites of zinc and graphene oxide (Au/ZnO/GO) were synthesized via the chemical method, and characterization was conducted by Scanning Electron Microscope, Transmission Electron Microscope, UV-Vis, and XRD which reveals the successful formation of nanocomposites, mainly helping to enhance the signal and specificity of the sensor by employing aptamers, since isolation and purification procedures are not required. The biosensor that is being demonstrated here is affordable, simple, and efficient. The reported biosensor is an OBA detection of polyvalent antigens of the dengue virus in human serum, presenting a good range from 0.0001 to 0.1 mg/mL with a limit of detection of 0.0001 mg/mL. The reported single-folding ori-aptasensor demonstrates exceptional sensitivity, specificity, and performance in human serum assays, and can also be used for the POC testing of various viral infections in remote areas and underdeveloped countries, as well as being potentially effective during outbreaks. Passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are attractive candidates for continuous wireless monitoring of corrosion in large infrastructures. However, acoustic loss in the aqueous medium and limited read range usually create challenges in their widespread use for monitoring large systems such as oil and gas (O&G) pipelines, aircraft, and processing plants. This paper presents the investigation of impedance-loaded reflective delay line (IL-RDL) SAW devices for monitoring metal corrosion under O&G pipeline-relevant conditions. Specifically, we studied the effect of change in resistivity of a reflector on the backscattered signal of an RDL and investigated an optimal range through simulation. This was followed by the experimental demonstrations of real-time monitoring of Fe film corrosion in pressurized (550 psi) humid CO2 conditions. Additionally, remote monitoring of Fe film corrosion in an acidic solution inside a 70 m carbon steel pipe was demonstrated using guided waves. This paper is on the autonomous detection of humans in off-limits mountains. In off-limits mountains, a human rarely exists, thus human detection is an extremely rare event. Due to the advances in artificial intelligence, object detection–classification algorithms based on a Convolution Neural Network (CNN) can be used for this application. However, considering off-limits mountains, there should be no person in general. Thus, it is not desirable to run object detection–classification algorithms continuously, since they are computationally heavy. This paper addresses a time-efficient human detector system, based on both motion detection and object classification. The proposed scheme is to run a motion detection algorithm from time to time. In the camera image, we define a feasible human space where a human can appear. Once motion is detected inside the feasible human space, one enables the object classification, only inside the bounding box where motion is detected. Since motion detection inside the feasible human space runs much faster than an object detection–classification method, the proposed approach is suitable for real-time human detection with low computational loads. As far as we know, no paper in the literature used the feasible human space, as in our paper. The outperformance of our human detector system is verified by comparing it with other state-of-the-art object detection–classification algorithms (HOG detector, YOLOv7 and YOLOv7-tiny) under experiments. This paper demonstrates that the accuracy of the proposed human detector system is comparable to other state-of-the-art algorithms, while outperforming in computational speed. Pedestrian tracking in surveillance videos is crucial and challenging for precise personnel management. Due to the limited coverage of a single video, the integration of multiple surveillance videos is necessary in practical applications. In the realm of pedestrian management using multiple surveillance videos, continuous pedestrian tracking is quite important. However, prevailing cross-video pedestrian matching methods mainly rely on the appearance features of pedestrians, resulting in low matching accuracy and poor tracking robustness. To address these shortcomings, this paper presents a cross-video pedestrian tracking algorithm, which introduces spatial information. The proposed algorithm introduces the coordinate features of pedestrians in different videos and a linear weighting strategy focusing on the overlapping view of the tracking process. The experimental results show that, compared to traditional methods, the method in this paper improves the success rate of target pedestrian matching and enhances the robustness of continuous pedestrian tracking. Heart rate is an essential vital sign to evaluate human health. Remote heart monitoring using cheaply available devices has become a necessity in the twenty-first century to prevent any unfortunate situation caused by the hectic pace of life. In this paper, we propose a new method based on the transformer architecture with a multi-skip connection biLSTM decoder to estimate heart rate remotely from videos. Our method is based on the skin color variation caused by the change in blood volume in its surface. The presented heart rate estimation framework consists of three main steps: (1) the segmentation of the facial region of interest (ROI) based on the landmarks obtained by 3DDFA; (2) the extraction of the spatial and global features; and (3) the estimation of the heart rate value from the obtained features based on the proposed method. This paper investigates which feature extractor performs better by captioning the change in skin color related to the heart rate as well as the optimal number of frames needed to achieve better accuracy. Experiments were conducted using two publicly available datasets (LGI-PPGI and Vision for Vitals) and our own in-the-wild dataset (12 videos collected by four drivers). This paper begins by exploring the challenge of event-triggered state estimations in nonlinear systems, grappling with packet dropout and correlated noise. A communication mechanism is introduced that determines whether to transmit measurement values based on whether event-triggered conditions are violated, thereby minimizing redundant communication data. In designing the filter, noise decorrelation is initially conducted, followed by the integration of the event-triggered mechanism and the unreliable network transmission system for state estimator development. Subsequently, by combining the three-degree spherical–radial cubature rule, the numerical implementation steps of the proposed state estimation framework are outlined. The performance estimation analysis highlights that by adjusting the event-triggered threshold appropriately, the estimation performance and transmission rate can be effectively balanced. It is established that when there is a lower bound on the packet dropout rate, the covariance matrix of the state estimation error remains bounded, and the stochastic stability of the state estimation error is also confirmed. This paper discusses the problem of recognizing defective epoxy drop images for the purpose of performing vision-based die attachment inspection in integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing based on deep neural networks. Two supervised and two unsupervised recognition models are considered. The supervised models examined are an autoencoder (AE) network together with a multi-layer perceptron network (MLP) and a VGG16 network, while the unsupervised models examined are an autoencoder (AE) network together with k-means clustering and a VGG16 network together with k-means clustering. Since in practice very few defective epoxy drop images are available on an actual IC production line, the emphasis in this paper is placed on the impact of data augmentation on the recognition outcome. The data augmentation is achieved by generating synthesized defective epoxy drop images via our previously developed enhanced loss function CycleGAN generative network. The experimental results indicate that when using data augmentation, the supervised and unsupervised models of VGG16 generate perfect or near perfect accuracies for recognition of defective epoxy drop images for the dataset examined. More specifically, for the supervised models of AE+MLP and VGG16, the recognition accuracy is improved by 47% and 1%, respectively, and for the unsupervised models of AE+Kmeans and VGG+Kmeans, the recognition accuracy is improved by 37% and 15%, respectively, due to the data augmentation. In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm has been widely applied across a variety of industrial and consumer areas to facilitate greater automation and increase productivity. Higher dependability on connected devices led to a growing range of cyber security threats targeting IoT-enabled platforms, specifically device firmware vulnerabilities, often overlooked during development and deployment. A comprehensive security strategy aiming to mitigate IoT firmware vulnerabilities would entail auditing the IoT device firmware environment, from software components, storage, and configuration, to delivery, maintenance, and updating, as well as understanding the efficacy of tools and techniques available for this purpose. To this effect, this paper reviews the state-of-the-art technology in IoT firmware vulnerability assessment from a holistic perspective. To help with the process, the IoT ecosystem is divided into eight categories: system properties, access controls, hardware and software re-use, network interfacing, image management, user awareness, regulatory compliance, and adversarial vectors. Following the review of individual areas, the paper further investigates the efficiency and scalability of auditing techniques for detecting firmware vulnerabilities. Beyond the technical aspects, state-of-the-art IoT firmware architectures and respective evaluation platforms are also reviewed according to their technical, regulatory, and standardization challenges. The discussion is accompanied also by a review of the existing auditing tools, the vulnerabilities addressed, the analysis method used, and their abilities to scale and detect unknown attacks. The review also proposes a taxonomy of vulnerabilities and maps them with their exploitation vectors and with the auditing tools that could help in identifying them. Given the current interest in analysis automation, the paper explores the feasibility and impact of evolving machine learning and blockchain applications in securing IoT firmware. Maritime transport, responsible for delivering over eighty percent of the world's goods, is the backbone of the global delivery industry. However, it also presents considerable environmental risks, particularly regarding aquatic contamination. Nearly ninety percent of marine oil spills near shores are attributed to human activities, highlighting the urgent need for continuous and effective surveillance. To address this pressing issue, this paper introduces a novel technique named OS-BREEZE. This method employs an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) for assessing the extent of oil pollution on the sea surface. The OS-BREEZE algorithm directs the USV along the spill edge, facilitating rapid and accurate assessment of the contaminated area. The key contribution of this paper is the development of this novel approach for monitoring and managing marine pollution, which significantly reduces the path length required for mapping and estimating the size of the contaminated area. Furthermore, this paper presents a scale model experiment executed at the Coastal and Marine Engineering Research Institute (CAMERI). This experiment demonstrated the method's enhanced speed and efficiency compared to traditional monitoring techniques. The experiment was methodically conducted across four distinct scenarios: the initial and advanced stages of an oil spill at the outer anchoring, as well as scenarios at the inner docking on both the stern and port sides. Handoff mechanisms are very important in fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks because of the cellular architecture employed to maximize spectrum utilization. Together with call admission control (CAC) mechanisms, they enable better optimization of bandwidth use. The primary objective of the research presented in this article is to analyze traffic levels, aiming to optimize traffic management and handling. This article considers the two most popular CAC mechanisms: the resource reservation mechanism and the threshold mechanism. It presents an analytical approach to occupancy distribution and blocking probability calculation in 5G mobile networks, incorporating connection handoff and CAC mechanisms for managing multiple traffic streams generated by multi-service sources. Due to the fact that the developed analytical model is an approximate model, its accuracy was also examined. For this purpose, the results of analytical calculations of the blocking probability in a group of 5G cells are compared with the simulation data. Fishing nets are dangerous obstacles for an underwater robot whose aim is to reach a goal in unknown underwater environments. This paper proposes how to make the robot reach its goal, while avoiding fishing nets that are detected using the robot's camera sensors. For the detection of underwater nets based on camera measurements of the robot, we can use deep neural networks. Passive camera sensors do not provide the distance information between the robot and a net. Camera sensors only provide the bearing angle of a net, with respect to the robot's camera pose. There may be trailing wires that extend from a net, and the wires can entangle the robot before the robot detects the net. Moreover, light, viewpoint, and sea floor condition can decrease the net detection probability in practice. Therefore, whenever a net is detected by the robot's camera, we make the robot avoid the detected net by moving away from the net abruptly. For moving away from the net, the robot uses the bounding box for the detected net in the camera image. After the robot moves backward for a certain distance, the robot makes a large circular turn to approach the goal, while avoiding the net. A large circular turn is used, since moving close to a net is too dangerous for the robot. As far as we know, our paper is unique in addressing reactive control laws for approaching the goal, while avoiding fishing nets detected using camera sensors. Shadow removal for document images is an essential task for digitized document applications. Recent shadow removal models have been trained on pairs of shadow images and shadow-free images. However, obtaining a large, diverse dataset for document shadow removal takes time and effort. Thus, only small real datasets are available. Graphic renderers have been used to synthesize shadows to create relatively large datasets. However, the limited number of unique documents and the limited lighting environments adversely affect the network performance. This paper presents a large-scale, diverse dataset called the Synthetic Document with Diverse Shadows (SynDocDS) dataset. The SynDocDS comprises rendered images with diverse shadows augmented by a physics-based illumination model, which can be utilized to obtain a more robust and high-performance deep shadow removal network. In this paper, we further propose a Dual Shadow Fusion Network (DSFN). Unlike natural images, document images often have constant background colors requiring a high understanding of global color features for training a deep shadow removal network. The DSFN has a high global color comprehension and understanding of shadow regions and merges shadow attentions and features efficiently. We conduct experiments on three publicly available datasets, the OSR, Kligler's, and Jung's datasets, to validate our proposed method's effectiveness. In comparison to training on existing synthetic datasets, our model training on the SynDocDS dataset achieves an enhancement in the PSNR and SSIM, increasing them from 23.00 dB to 25.70 dB and 0.959 to 0.971 on average. In addition, the experiments demonstrated that our DSFN clearly outperformed other networks across multiple metrics, including the PSNR, the SSIM, and its impact on OCR performance. Current research on the interference of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) array antennas focuses on the single interference effect and the improvement of interference hardware capability, while the multi-degree-of-freedom (DOF) interference model and mechanism remain to be fully studied. Aiming at this problem, this paper analyzes the preconditions for the definition of anti-jamming degrees of freedom and the characteristics of super-DOF interference through formula derivation and simulation. First, by analyzing the influence of the number of interfering signals on the angular resolution, the prerequisite of the definition of anti-interference degrees of freedom in the airspace is proposed. Second, the definition of anti-interference degrees of freedom is used to calculate the change rule of the critical power of the interference under different numbers of interfering signals. Finally, the influence of super-DOF interference on the array antenna is analyzed. The results show that the prerequisite for the anti-interference freedom of the array antenna is that the distribution interval of the interfering signal is greater than 15°, taking a four-array element uniform circular array antenna as an example. The critical interference power of the array antenna decreases by about 15 dB when the number of interfering signals exceeds the degrees of freedom of the array antenna's interference immunity, provided that the interference resolution is satisfied. The conclusions of this paper give the critical power change rule of multi-DOF interference and the effect of super-DOF interference, as well as the prerequisites for the setting of interference signals, which can be used, for example, in the deployment of distributed interference sources and the development of anti-jamming algorithms. SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) based on 3D LiDAR (Laser Detection and Ranging) is an expanding field of research with numerous applications in the areas of autonomous driving, mobile robotics, and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). However, in most real-world scenarios, dynamic objects can negatively impact the accuracy and robustness of SLAM. In recent years, the challenge of achieving optimal SLAM performance in dynamic environments has led to the emergence of various research efforts, but there has been relatively little relevant review. This work delves into the development process and current state of SLAM based on 3D LiDAR in dynamic environments. After analyzing the necessity and importance of filtering dynamic objects in SLAM, this paper is developed from two dimensions. At the solution-oriented level, mainstream methods of filtering dynamic targets in 3D point cloud are introduced in detail, such as the ray-tracing-based approach, the visibility-based approach, the segmentation-based approach, and others. Then, at the problem-oriented level, this paper classifies dynamic objects and summarizes the corresponding processing strategies for different categories in the SLAM framework, such as online real-time filtering, post-processing after the mapping, and Long-term SLAM. This paper starts with an overview of the main principles used for pressure measurements, focusing on their usage in industrial applications' domains. Then, the importance of calibration procedures, namely, static and dynamic calibration of pressure sensors, is analyzed. Regarding calibration, it is important to note that there are several applications where the pressure signals to be measured can have large variations in short periods of time. In industrial applications, particularly in continuous production processes, generally, dynamic pressure measurements are less common; however, they are still required in several cases, such as control loops that are very sensitive to pressure variations, even if the frequencies of those variations are in the range of a few tens of hertz, or even lower. The last part of the paper presents the hardware and software of a flexible and low-cost static and dynamic pressure calibrator that also presents the capability to generate arbitrary waveform pressure signals for calibration and testing purposes. The proposed calibrator also includes the following advantages: remote pressure sensing capabilities that can be used to minimize calibration errors, such as those associated with capillary effects and pressure leakages; portability; and low cost. With the increasing scale of deep-sea oil exploration and drilling platforms, the assessment, maintenance, and optimization of marine structures have become crucial. Traditional detection and manual measurement methods are inadequate for meeting these demands, but three-dimensional laser scanning technology offers a promising solution. However, the complexity of the marine environment, including waves and wind, often leads to problematic point cloud data characterized by noise points and redundancy. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a method that combines K-Nearest-Neighborhood filtering with a hyperbolic function-based weighted hybrid filtering. The experimental results demonstrate the exceptional performance of the algorithm in processing point cloud data from offshore oil and gas platforms. The method improves noise point filtering efficiency by approximately 11% and decreases the total error by 0.6 percentage points compared to existing technologies. Not only does this method accurately process anomalies in high-density areas—it also removes noise while preserving important details. Furthermore, the research method presented in this paper is particularly suited for processing large point cloud data in complex marine environments. It enhances data accuracy and optimizes the three-dimensional reconstruction of offshore oil and gas platforms, providing reliable dimensional information for land-based prefabrication of these platforms.
