This letter, published in the Journal of Clinical Immunology, discusses a case study of a patient with an NFKBIA gene mutation, which is associated with an immunodeficiency disease called anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia with immunodeficiency (EDA-ID). The patient exhibited various clinical manifestations, including ectodermal dysplasia, recurrent infections, and autoimmune diseases. The study found that the NFKBIA gene mutation led to defective T-cell function, as evidenced by impaired T-cell proliferation and cytokine production. Identification of long‐term calcium channel blocker (CCB) responders with acute vasodilator challenge is critical in the evaluation of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Currently there is no standardized approach for use of supplemental oxygen during acute vasodilator challenge. In this retrospective analysis of patients identified as acute vasoresponders, treated with CCBs, all patients had hemodynamic measurements in three steps: (1) at baseline; (2) with 100% fractional inspired oxygen; and (3) with 100% fractional inspired oxygen plus inhaled nitric oxide (iNO). Those meeting the definition of acute vasoresponsiveness only after first normalizing for the effects of oxygen in step 2 were labeled "iNO Responders." Those who met the definition of acute vasoresponsiveness from a combination of the effects of 100% FiO2 and iNO were labeled "oxygen responders." Survival, hospitalization for decompensated right heart failure, duration of CCB monotherapy, and functional data were collected. iNO responders, when compared to oxygen responders, had superior survival (100% vs. 50.1% 5‐year survival, respectively), fewer hospitalizations for acute decompensated right heart failure (0% vs. 30.4% at 1 year, respectively), longer duration of CCB monotherapy (80% vs. 52% at 1 year, respectively), and superior 6‐min walk distance. Current guidelines for acute vasodilator testing do not standardize oxygen coadministration with iNO. This study demonstrates that adjusting for the effects of supplemental oxygen before assessing for acute vasoresponsiveness identifies a cohort with superior functional status, tolerance of CCB monotherapy, and survival while on long‐term CCB therapy. In recent years, photonic therapy (photothermal and photodynamic therapy) has gradually aroused great interest among researchers in related fields as a new method of tumor treatment. However, a single phototherapy modality alone, such as photodynamic therapy or photothermal therapy, has shown limited therapeutic efficacy in tumor treatment. To overcome the limitations of monotherapy, a combined photothermal–photodynamic treatment strategy based on graphite-phase carbon nitride quantum dots (g-CNQDs) and silver nanospheres (AgNSs) has been employed in this work. Specifically, a g-CNQDs@AgNSs nanocomposite was prepared by loading g-CNQDs onto the surface of AgNSs through metal amino coordination and in situ reduction methods. g-CNQDs serve as the photosensitizer whereas AgNSs act as a photothermal agent. This nanocomposite not only has good biocompatibility but also has good photothermal properties and generates excellent reactive oxygen species under near-infrared light irradiation. In vitro or cellular experimental results show that combination therapy provides a significant improvement in photothermal and photodynamic efficacy as compared to monotherapy. Parameters of subpopulations can be more relevant than those of superpopulations. For example, a healthcare provider may be interested in the effect of a treatment plan for a specific subset of their patients; policymakers may be concerned with the impact of a policy in a particular state within a given population. In these cases, the focus is on a specific finite population, as opposed to an infinite superpopulation. Such a population can be characterized by fixing some attributes that are intrinsic to them, leaving unexplained variations like measurement error as random. Inference for a population with fixed attributes can then be modelled as inferring parameters of a conditional distribution. Accordingly, it is desirable that confidence intervals are conditionally valid for the realized population, instead of marginalizing over many possible draws of populations. We provide a statistical inference framework for parameters of finite populations with known attributes. Leveraging the attribute information, our estimators and confidence intervals closely target a specific finite population. When the data are from the population of interest, our confidence intervals attain asymptotic conditional validity, given the attributes, and are shorter than those for superpopulation inference. In addition, we develop procedures to infer parameters of new populations with differing covariate distributions; the confidence intervals are also conditionally valid for the new populations under mild conditions. Our methods extend to situations where the fixed information has a weaker structure or is only partially observed. Background: This study investigated the differences in target volumes between preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRIpre) and postoperative MRI (MRIpost) for breast radiotherapy after breast‐conserving surgery (BCS) using deformable image registration (DIR). Methods and Materials: Seventeen eligible patients who underwent whole‐breast irradiation in the prone position after BCS were enrolled. On MRIpre, the gross tumor volume (GTV) was delineated as GTVpre, which was then expanded by 10 mm to represent the preoperative lumpectomy cavity (LC), denoted as LCpre. The LC was expanded to the clinical target volume (CTV) and planning target volume (PTV) on the MRIpre and MRIpost, denoted as CTVpre, CTVpost, PTVpre, and PTVpost, respectively. The MIM software system was used to register the MRIpre and MRIpost using DIR. Differences were evaluated regarding target volume, distance between the centers of mass (dCOM), conformity index (CI), and degree of inclusion (DI). The relationship between CILC/CIPTV and the clinical factors was also assessed. Results: Significant differences were observed in LC and PTV volumes between MRIpre and MRIpost (p < 0.0001). LCpre was 0.85 cm3 larger than LCpost, while PTVpre was 29.38 cm3 smaller than PTVpost. The dCOM between LCpre and LCpost was 1.371 cm, while that between PTVpre and PTVpost reduced to 1.348 cm. There were statistically significant increases in CI and DI for LCpost–LCpre and PTVpost–PTVpre (CI = 0.221, 0.470; DI = 0.472, 0.635). No obvious linear correlations (p > 0.05) were found between CI and GTV, primary tumor volume‐to‐breast volume ratio, distance from the primary tumor to the nipple and chest wall, and body mass index. Conclusions: Despite using DIR technology, the spatial correspondence of target volumes between MRIpre and MRIpost was suboptimal. Therefore, relying solely on preoperative diagnostic MRI with DIR for postoperative LC delineation is not recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are rare malignant tumors with limited treatment options. No established second‐line treatment regimen is available following the preferred first‐line chemotherapy, resulting in unsatisfactory efficacy and poor prognosis for patients with advanced TETs. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of small molecule multitarget antiangiogenic inhibitors as well as the prognostic factors for advanced TETs. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using data from a real‐world database. Clinical information and survival follow‐up data were collected from 52 patients with advanced TETs who received small molecule multitarget antiangiogenic inhibitors at Zhejiang Cancer Hospital between August 10, 2016 and August 10, 2022. The short‐term efficacy of the treatments, survival time of the patients, and relevant prognostic factors of advanced TETs were analyzed. Results: Out of the 52 patients included in this study, 16 had thymoma and 36 had thymic carcinoma. The 52 patients had an overall response rate of 21.1% and a disease control rate of 94.2%. In addition, the median progression‐free survival (PFS) was 8.05 months, and the overall survival (OS) was 25.00 months. Apatinib was given to 33 patients, anlotinib to 15 patients, and sunitinib or lenvatinib to four patients. Only seven patients received antiangiogenic inhibitors as their first‐line therapy, 27 patients as their second‐line therapy, and 18 patients as third‐line or subsequent therapy. Meanwhile, 42 patients received monotherapy with an antiangiogenesis inhibitor, while 10 patients received combination therapy. Univariate analysis indicated that the combined treatment was associated with a superior OS (p = 0.044); multivariate analysis indicated that the combined treatment was an independent prognostic factor for PFS (p = 0.014) and OS (p = 0.012). Conclusion: The findings suggest that small molecule multitarget antiangiogenic inhibitors are efficacious as second or post‐line treatments as a viable alternative treatment option for patients with advanced TETs. This article discusses a case study of a 58-year-old woman who underwent minimally invasive surgery to remove migrated intrauterine devices (IUDs). The woman had an IUD inserted 25 years ago, and imaging tests revealed that the IUDs had migrated to different locations within her pelvic cavity. The surgery was successful in removing both IUDs. The article also provides information on the use of IUDs, the complications associated with them, and the recommended intervention for removing migrated IUDs. Drawing on multi-task principal–agent theories, we aim in this paper to explore a hitherto understudied politics–infrastructure nexus using a data set of Chinese municipal leader profiles. Analysing a panel dataset of 2,399 political leaders’ profiles and infrastructure-investment change across 283 Chinese cities from 2002 to 2016, we demonstrate that city leaders adopt an inverted U-shaped curve regarding infrastructure-investment growth over their tenures. The investment fluctuation strengthens in municipalities with a relatively lower degree of institutional development and in municipalities which have fewer political resources. Furthermore, a higher frequency of political turnover leads to a higher average growth rate of infrastructure investment. This study suggests that fluctuation in infrastructure investment in China is aligned with political incentives, offering new opportunities for comparative studies of global relevance. The damage of the diabetic visual pathway is one of the main causes of blindness in diabetic patients. Visual pathways include anatomic parts from the retina to the occipital lobe. This study investigated the involvement of ferroptosis, a planned cell death brought on by the buildup of free iron in cells, in the impairment of visual pathways in diabetes mellitus. Streptozotocin (STZ) was used to construct a diabetic rat model. Pathological and ultrastructural changes of the occipital lobe, retina, and optic nerve were observed by Hematoxylin–Eosin (HE) staining and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The expressions of Neuronal nuclei (NeuN), Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and Glutathione Peroxidase 4 (GPX4) in the occipital lobe and retina were detected by immunofluorescence, and Western Blotting was used to identify the NeuN GFAP and GPX4 expressions in the occipital lobe. Iron content in the occipital lobe and retina was detected by Iron Assay Kit. The success rate of the diabetic rat model was 93.3%. In the diabetic group, the cells of the occipital lobe and retina were arranged disorderly, and the boundaries were unclear. The membrane of the occipital lobe, retina, and optic nerve was broken, some vacuoles were observed, mitochondrial morphology was changed, swelling was observed, and the mitochondrial ridge disappeared. There was a large increase in GFAP expression and iron concentration and a significant decrease in the expression of NeuN, and GPX4 in the retina and occipital lobe. Doctor-patient communication is pivotal for the delivery of effective health care, patient satisfaction and retention, and the development of patient loyalty to the provider. However, the interactional dynamics of loyalty in real-life communication are left underexplored. In this regard, this study aims to examine and analyze loyalty in naturally occurring routine chronic encounters. Based on audio-recordings collected in a state-run tier-three hospital in China, the study uses conversation analysis to examine the sequential placement of loyalty display and its interactional functions in different environments. The findings report two sequential environments where loyalty display emerges: the opening and closing phases. The findings also show that loyalty is mainly produced by the patient to display affiliation and commitment, indicate their preferred treatment options, and rekindle a disconnected relationship. The field of urban morphology, crucial for understanding the evolutionary trajectories of cityscapes, has traditionally depended on manual classification methods. The surge in deep learning and computer vision technologies presents an opportunity to automate and enhance urban typo-morphology studies. This research addresses three critical shortcomings in the current body of work: the neglect of urban fabric's three-dimensional qualities, the homogeneity of spatial scales in dataset creation and the dependence on a single-perspective for urban fabric classification. A novel deep learning-based model, UrbanClassifier, is introduced, trained on a substantial dataset that encapsulates the three-dimensionality of urban fabric along with morphological types and development periods. Extensive experimentation across four European cities highlights the model's ability to incorporate diverse spatial scales and viewpoints in urban fabric analysis. • A CO 2 fiber sensor based on four-leaf clover fiber mode interferometer is proposed. • The sensor presents high wavelength sensitivity of 445 pm/% and short response time of 24/28 s. • The has high research value in CCUS project. A highly sensitive and quick response gaseous carbon dioxide (CO 2) fiber sensor based on sol–gel film coated four-leaf clover fiber (FLCF) mode interferometer (MI) is proposed. The MI is constructed by using porous polymer tube to connect two sections of multi-mode fiber (MMF) with FLCF. By depositing thymol blue sol–gel film on the cladding wall of the FLCF, interference spectrum caused by the core mode and cladding mode of the MI can be modulated by CO 2 concentration through the reaction between sol–gel film and CO 2. By observing the shift of peak wavelength at 1555.7 nm, 1552.9 nm and 1549.3 nm, it is found that the interference spectrum changes linearly with CO 2 concentration. Experimental results show that the FLCF-MI CO 2 sensor has high wavelength sensitivity of 445 pm/% and short response time of 24/28 s. Besides, the sensor exhibits good temperature, humidity stability, and well selectivity, which shows great prospect in detecting CO 2 concentration in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) project. Dicyanomethylene-4H-benzopyran derivatives dyes containing D- π -A-type structure have been prepared and fully characterized. The Z configuration of all three structures has been confirmed by SCXRD studies. Dyes 1–6 present a strong absorption in the 450–550 nm region with ε values over 43 000 M−1 cm−1 1–4 showed fluorescence properties while 5 and 6 are very weakly fluorescent. The electronic structure of the first singlet excited state S 1 was investigated to further explain the evolution of fluorescence quantum yields. The two-photon excitation spectra were recorded with a similar behaviour upon two-photon excitation, with two absorption bands, one in the 800–850 nm region with σ 2 of 200–300 GM and another one at about 1000 nm with σ 2 of 300–400 GM. Background Motoric Cognitive Risk (MCR) syndrome, a predementia syndrome characterized by cognitive complaints and slow gait, may have an underlying vascular etiology. Elevated blood levels of homocysteine, a known vascular risk factor, have been linked to physical and cognitive decline in older adults, though the relationship with MCR is unknown. We aimed to identify the association between homocysteine and MCR risk. Methods We examined the association between baseline homocysteine levels and incident MCR using Cox proportional hazard models in 1826 community-dwelling older adults (55% women) from 2 cohorts (Einstein Aging Study [EAS] and Quebec Longitudinal Study on Nutrition and Successful Aging [NuAge]). We calculated hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI), for each cohort as well as stratified by sex and vascular disease/risk factors. Results Median follow-up time was 2.2 years in EAS and 3.0 years in NuAge. Individuals with elevated baseline homocysteine levels (>14 µmol/L) had a significantly higher risk of incident MCR compared to those with normal levels in NuAge (HR 1.41, 95% CI: 1.01–1.97, p  = .04), after adjusting for covariates. Our exploratory stratified analyses found that these associations were significant only in men with vascular disease/risk factors. Conclusions Higher blood homocysteine levels are associated with an increased risk of developing MCR in older adults, particularly in men with vascular disease or vascular risk factors. Chronic pain is a complex health issue. Compared to acute pain, which has a protective value, chronic pain is defined as persistent pain after tissue injury. Few clinical advances have been made to prevent the transition from acute to chronic pain. Electroacupuncture (EA), the most common form of acupuncture, is widely used in clinical practice to relieve pain. The hyperalgesic priming model, established via a carrageenan injection followed by a prostaglandin E 2 injection, was used to investigate the development or establishment of chronic pain. We observed the hyperalgesic effect of EA on rats and investigated the expression p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, interleukin-33 (IL-33), and its receptor ST2 in astrocytes in the L4–L6 spinal cord dorsal horns (SDHs) after EA. The IL-33/ST2 signaling pathway in SDH is associated with the development of chronic pain. EA can reverse the pain threshold in hyperalgesic priming model rats and regulates the expression of phosphorylated p38, IL-33, and ST2 in astrocytes in the L4–L6 SDHs. We discovered that EA raises the pain threshold. This suggests that EA can prevent the development or establishment of chronic pain by inhibiting IL-33/ST2 signaling in the lower central nervous system. EA can alleviate the development or establishment of chronic pain by modulating IL-33/ST2 signaling in SDHs. Our findings will help clinicians understand the mechanisms of EA analgesia. Aims Vascular calcification is highly prevalent in atherosclerosis, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. It is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease. Matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3), also known as stromelysin-1, is part of the large matrix metalloproteinase family. It can degrade extracellular matrix components of the arterial wall including elastin, which plays a central role in medial calcification. In this study, we sought to determine the role of MMP-3 in medial calcification. Methods and results We found that MMP-3 was increased in rodent models of medial calcification as well as in vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) cultured in a phosphate calcification medium. It was also highly expressed in calcified tibial arteries in patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Knockdown and inhibition of MMP-3 suppressed phosphate-induced SMC osteogenic transformation and calcification, whereas the addition of a recombinant MMP-3 protein facilitated SMC calcification. In an ex vivo organ culture model and a rodent model of medial calcification induced by vitamin D3, we found that MMP-3 deficiency significantly suppressed medial calcification in the aorta. We further found that medial calcification and osteogenic transformation were significantly reduced in SMC-specific MMP-3-deficient mice, suggesting that MMP-3 in SMCs is an important factor in this process. Conclusion These findings suggest that MMP-3 expression in vascular SMCs is an important regulator of medial calcification and that targeting MMP-3 could provide a therapeutic strategy to reduce it and address its consequences in patients with PAD. Spillover effect theory posits that work stressors can have spillover effects into workers' home lives. Although job insecurity spillover into the home domain has been explored extensively, potential spillback effects into the work domain have not. We posit that daily job insecurity represents a negative subjective perception that can spillover into the home domain and lead to insomnia, which will damage the recovery of self‐regulatory resources and make employees unable to regulate their own behavior, ultimately resulting in next‐day counterproductive work behavior. We hypothesized that self‐compassion, as an individual trait, weakens the spillover effect of job insecurity and moderates the indirect effect of job insecurity on next‐day counterproductive work behavior via insomnia. Our analyses of data collected from 132 full‐time employees across 10 consecutive working days showed that insomnia mediates the relationship between daily job insecurity and next‐day counterproductive work behavior, and further showed that this relationship was moderated by self‐compassion. TAVO101 is a humanized anti‐human thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) monoclonal antibody under clinical development for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) and other allergic inflammatory conditions. The crystallizable fragment region of the antibody was engineered for half‐life extension and attenuated effector functions. This Phase 1, double‐blinded, randomized, placebo‐controlled study assessed the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity of TAVO101 in healthy adult subjects in seven ascending dose cohorts. Subjects received a single intravenous administration of TAVO101 or placebo with a 195‐day follow‐up. TAVO101 was safe and well tolerated. The incidences and severities of treatment‐emergent adverse events were mostly mild and comparable between the active and placebo groups, with no trends of dose relationship. There were no severe adverse events, deaths, or treatment‐related withdrawals. TAVO101 exhibited a linear pharmacokinetic profile, low clearance, and a median elimination half‐life of 67 days in healthy subjects. All TAVO101‐treated subjects tested negative for anti‐drug antibodies. To support development in AD, TAVO101 was studied in an oxazolone‐induced AD model in hTSLP transgenic mice and demonstrated efficacy. This long‐acting anti‐TSLP antibody has the potential for stronger and sustained allergic inflammatory disease control. Monocarpic senescence, characterized by whole-plant senescence following a single flowering phase, is widespread in seed plants, particularly in crops, determining seed harvest time and quality. However, how external and internal signals are systemically integrated into monocarpic senescence remains largely unknown. Here, we report that the Arabidopsis thaliana transcription factor WRKY1 plays essential roles in multiple key steps of monocarpic senescence. WRKY1 expression is induced by age, salicylic acid (SA), and nitrogen (N) deficiency. Flowering and leaf senescence are accelerated in the WRKY1 overexpression lines but are delayed in the wrky1 mutants. The combined DNA affinity purification sequencing and RNA sequencing analyses uncover the direct target genes of WRKY1. Further studies show that WRKY1 coordinately regulates three processes in monocarpic senescence: (1) suppressing FLOWERING LOCUS C gene expression to initiate flowering, (2) inducing SA biosynthesis genes to promote leaf senescence, and (3) activating the N assimilation and transport genes to trigger N remobilization. In summary, our study reveals how one stress-responsive transcription factor, WRKY1, integrates flowering, leaf senescence, and N remobilization processes into monocarpic senescence, providing important insights into plant lifetime regulation. This study reveals that the stress-inducible WRKY1 transcription factor serves as a versatile regulator that integrates multiple key processes of monocarpic senescence in Arabidopsis. WRKY1 plays crucial roles in promoting flowering through direct repression of FLC expression, accelerating leaf senescence via activation of SA biosynthesis genes, and facilitating efficient N remobilization via activation of N assimilation and transport genes. In addition, the Ba 3 Nb 2 O 2 F 12 (H 2 O) 2 :Mn4+ red phosphors have strong zero phonon line (ZPL) emission at 625 nm, which is conducive to improving the sensitivity of human eye and color purity. Meanwhile, the optical properties of the red phosphor are significantly enhanced via doping K+ cations as charge compensators. Crystal field environment and nephelauxetic effect of the as-prepared phosphors before and after K+ cation doping were systematically analyzed. Moreover, these synthesized red/green phosphors have good thermal stability and moisture resistance. Remarkably, the as-prepared Ba 3 Nb 2 O 2 F 12 (H 2 O) 2 :5%Mn4+ or K 0.9 Ba 2.1 Nb 2 O 2 F 12 (H 2 O) 2 :5%Mn4+ red phosphors can be directly mixed with the as-synthesized Ba 3 Nb 2 O 2 F 12 (H 2 O) 2 :13%Tb3+ green phosphor coating on 365 nm near-ultraviolet LED chip to package WLED devices with excellent electroluminescence performance. Rapid accumulation of repair factors at DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) is essential for DSB repair. Several factors involved in DSB repair have been found undergoing liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) at DSB sites to facilitate DNA repair. RNF168, a RING-type E3 ubiquitin ligase, catalyzes H2A.X ubiquitination for recruiting DNA repair factors. Yet, whether RNF168 undergoes LLPS at DSB sites remains unclear. Here, we identified K63-linked polyubiquitin-triggered RNF168 condensation which further promoted RNF168-mediated DSB repair. RNF168 formed liquid-like condensates upon irradiation in the nucleus while purified RNF168 protein also condensed in vitro. An intrinsically disordered region containing amino acids 460-550 was identified as the essential domain for RNF168 condensation. Interestingly, LLPS of RNF168 was significantly enhanced by K63-linked polyubiquitin chains, and LLPS largely enhanced the RNF168-mediated H2A.X ubiquitination, suggesting a positive feedback loop to facilitate RNF168 rapid accumulation and its catalytic activity. Functionally, LLPS deficiency of RNF168 resulted in delayed recruitment of 53BP1 and BRCA1 and subsequent impairment in DSB repair. Objectives: Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is extensively employed for the identification of filamentous fungi on MALDI Biotyper (Bruker Daltonics) and Vitek MS (biomerieux), but the performance of fungi identification on new EXS2600 (Zybio) is still unknow. Our study aims to evaluate the new EXS2600 system's (Zybio) ability to rapidly identify filamentous fungi and determine its effect on turnaround time (TAT) in our laboratory. Methods: We tested 117 filamentous fungi using two pretreatment methods: the formic acid sandwich (FA-sandwich) and a commercial mold extraction kit (MEK, Zybio). All isolates were confirmed via sequence analysis. Laboratory data were extracted from our laboratory information system over two 9-month periods: pre-EXS (April to December 2022) and post-EXS (April to December 2023), respectively. Results: The total correct identification (at the species, genus, or complex/group level) rate of fungi was high, FA-sandwich (95.73%, 112/117), followed by MEK (94.02%, 110/117). Excluding 6 isolates not in the database, species-level identification accuracy was 92.79% (103/111) for FA-sandwich and 91.89% (102/111) for MEK; genus-level accuracy was 97.29% (108/111) and 96.39% (107/111), respectively. Both methods attained a 100% correct identification rate for Aspergillus, Lichtheimia, Rhizopus Mucor and Talaromyces species, and were able to differentiate between Fusarium verticillioides and Fusarium proliferatum within the Fusarium fujikuroi species complex. Notably, high confidence was observed in the species-level identification of uncommon fungi such as Trichothecium roseum and Geotrichum candidum. The TAT for all positive cultures decreased from pre EXS2600 to post (108.379 VS 102.438, P < 0.05), and the TAT for tissue decreased most (451.538 VS 222.304, P < 0.001). Conclusions: The FA-sandwich method is more efficient and accurate for identifying filamentous fungi with EXS2600 than the MEK. Our study firstly evaluated the performance of fungi identification on EXS2600 and showed it is suitable for clinical microbiology laboratories use. First-principles calculations were employed to investigate the adsorption and diffusion energy of hydrogen (H) in the Ti/Ti 3 Al binary system, along with the evolution of the interfacial stability induced by the presence of H. The penetration energy barrier indicates that H can more easily penetrate the substrate through the Ti/Ti 3 Al interface. The formation energy of H increases with distance from the interface and the Ti/Ti 3 Al interface acts as a sink for trapping hydrogen interstitials. When all interstitial sites are completely occupied by H, the cleavage energy along the interface decreases from 1.935 to 1.094 J/m2, suggesting that H doping significantly reduces the strength of the Ti-Ti 3 Al (01–10) interface. When the area density of H-doping at the interface exceeds 0.37 atoms/Å2, the α-Ti lattice expands. Consistent with experimental observations, this triggers atomic migration and the generation of Ti-hydrides. Further analysis of the atomic structure and Bader charge transfers indicate that the interaction of Ti and H can alter the localized electronic structure of Al, leading to a weakened interface due to loss of interface bond strength. In summary, the theoretical calculations have provided new insights into possible hydrogen embrittlement (HE) mechanism in titanium alloys. Background Patients with lupus podocytopathy show a high incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) and relapse, but the risk factors and mechanisms were unclear. This study analysed the clinicopathological features and risk factors for AKI and relapse in lupus podocytopathy patients. Methods The cohort of lupus podocytopathy was generated by screening the biopsies of patients with lupus nephritis (LN) from 2002 to 2022 and was divided into the mild glomerular lesion (MGL) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) groups based on glomerular morphological characteristics. The acute (ATI) and chronic (CTI) tubulointerstitial lesions were semi-quantitatively scored. Logistic and Cox regressions were employed to identify the risk factors for AKI and relapse, respectively. Results Among 6052 LN cases, 98 (1.6%) were diagnosed as lupus podocytopathy, with 71 in the MGL group and 27 in the FSGS group. All patients presented with nephrotic syndrome and 33 (34.7%) of them had AKI. Seventy-seven (78.6%) patients achieved complete renal response (CRR) within 12 weeks of induction treatment, in which there was no difference in the CRR rate between glucocorticoid monotherapy and combination therapy with glucocorticoids plus immunosuppressants. Compared with the MGL group, patients in the FSGS group had significantly higher incidences of hypertension and haematuria; in addition, they had higher Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index 2000, ATI and CTI scores but a significantly lower CRR rate. Urinary protein ≥7.0 g/24 h and serum C3 ≤0.750 g/l were independent risk factors for AKI. During a median follow-up of 78 months, 57 cases (60.0%) had relapse and none reached the kidney endpoint. Failure to achieve CRR within 12 weeks, maintenance with glucocorticoid monotherapy and AKI at onset were independent risk factors for kidney relapse. Conclusions In this study, histological subtypes of lupus podocytopathy were found to be associated with clinical features and treatment response. Significant advancements have been made in the application of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T treatment for blood cancers during the previous ten years. However, its effectiveness in treating solid tumors is still lacking, necessitating the exploration of alternative immunotherapies that can overcome the significant challenges faced by current CAR-T cells. CAR-based immunotherapy against solid tumors shows promise with the emergence of macrophages, which possess robust phagocytic abilities, antigen-presenting functions, and the ability to modify the tumor microenvironment and stimulate adaptive responses. This paper presents a thorough examination of the latest progress in CAR-M therapy, covering both basic scientific studies and clinical trials. This study examines the primary obstacles hindering the realization of the complete potential of CAR-M therapy, as well as the potential strategies that can be employed to overcome these hurdles. With the emergence of revolutionary technologies like in situ genetic modification, synthetic biology techniques, and biomaterial-supported gene transfer, which provide a wider array of resources for manipulating tumor-associated macrophages, we suggest that combining these advanced methods will result in the creation of a new era of CAR-M therapy that demonstrates improved efficacy, safety, and availability. Background: Spinal cord and brain atrophy are common in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) but harbor distinct patterns accounting for disability and cognitive impairment. Methods: This study included 209 NMOSD and 304 RRMS patients and 436 healthy controls. Non-negative matrix factorization was used to parse differences in spinal cord and brain atrophy at subject level into distinct patterns based on structural MRI. The weights of patterns were obtained using a linear regression model and associated with Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and cognitive scores. Additionally, patients were divided into cognitive impairment (CI) and cognitive preservation (CP) groups. Results: Three patterns were observed in NMOSD: (1) Spinal Cord-Deep Grey Matter (SC-DGM) pattern was associated with high EDSS scores and decline of visuospatial memory function; (2) Frontal-Temporal pattern was associated with decline of language learning function; and (3) Cerebellum-Brainstem pattern had no observed association. Patients with CI had higher weights of SC-DGM pattern than CP group. Three patterns were observed in RRMS: (1) DGM pattern was associated with high EDSS scores, decreased information processing speed, and decreased language learning and visuospatial memory functions; (2) Frontal-Temporal pattern was associated with overall cognitive decline; and (3) Occipital pattern had no observed association. Patients with CI trended to have higher weights of DGM and Frontal-Temporal patterns than CP group. Conclusion: This study estimated the heterogeneity of spinal cord and brain atrophy patterns in NMOSD and RRMS patients at individual level, and evaluated the clinical relevance of these patterns, which may contribute to stratifying participants for targeted therapy. Arsenic, a well-known hazardous toxicant, has been found in recent years to act as an environmental endocrine disruptor that accumulates in various endocrine organs, impeding the normal physiological functions of these organs and altering hormone secretion levels. Moreover, some research has demonstrated a correlation between arsenic exposure and thyroid functions, suggesting that arsenic has a toxicological effect on the thyroid gland. However, the specific type of thyroid gland damage caused by arsenic exposure and its potential molecular mechanism remain poorly understood. In this study, the toxic effects of sodium arsenite (NaAsO2) exposure at different doses (0, 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/kg bw) and over different durations (12, 24 and 36 weeks) on thyroid tissue and thyroid hormone levels in Sprague‒Dawley (SD) rats were investigated, and the specific mechanisms underlying the effects were also explored. Our results showed that NaAsO2 exposure can cause accumulation of this element in the thyroid tissue of rats. More importantly, chronic exposure to NaAsO2 significantly upregulated the expression of NLRP3 inflammasome-related proteins in thyroid tissue, leading to pyroptosis of thyroid cells and subsequent development of thyroid dysfunction, inflammatory injury, epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), and even fibrotic changes in the thyroid glands of SD rats. There is presently no efficient dose individualization strategy for the use of antiseizure medications in epileptic pregnant patients. This study aimed to develop a population pharmacokinetics model for levetiracetam and propose a tailored adaptive individualized dosage strategy for epileptic pregnant patients. A total of 322 levetiracetam plasma concentrations from 238 patients with epilepsy were included, including 216 women with epilepsy (20.83% of whom were pregnant). The levetiracetam plasma concentration was measured using a validated ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry assay, and the data were modeled using a nonlinear mixed-effects model. The resultant model served as the basis for simulating the dosage adjustment strategy. A one-compartment model with first-order elimination best described the pharmacokinetic data of levetiracetam. The apparent clearance (CL/F) was 3.43 L/h (95% CI 3.30–3.56) and the apparent volume of distribution was 43.7 L (95% CI 40.4–47.0) for a typical individual of 57.2 kg. Pregnancy and body weight were found to be significant covariates of CL/F of levetiracetam. The recommended regimen of levetiracetam could be predicted by the population pharmacokinetic model based on body weight, gestational age, and the daily dose of levetiracetam taken before pregnancy. AbstractCompressive tests, tensile tests, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) tests were performed on polypropylene fiber recycled concrete (PFRC) after freeze–thaw cycles. The effects of the replacement percentage of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) and the addition percentage of fiber on strength characteristics were analyzed. The variation rules of strength and failure modes after freeze–thaw cycles were described. The development of stress–strain curves and deformations were observed at different times of freeze–thaw cycles. The experimental results showed that the compressive and tensile strength both present a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase addition percentage of fiber or the replacement percentage of RCA. The optimum mix proportion of RCPP30-0.1 was obtained. The tensile and compressive strength both reduced as the times of freeze–thaw cycles increased. After 75 times, the strength dropped by 6.37% and 4.52% compared with that at 0 time of cycles, respectively. Overall, freeze–thaw cycles have adverse effects on the mechanical properties of PFRC. Based on the theoretical analysis of experimental data, prediction models on macroscopic and microscopic properties were established in this study, which can help promote more extensive applications of RAC and realize persistent development strategy of building, resources, and environment to a certain extent. [Display omitted] Fine-tuning the surface structure of transition metal oxides at the atomic level is a promising way to improve the catalytic properties of materials. However, the influence of crystal surface structure on electrode reaction kinetics is still limited. In this study, we propose an in-situ synthesis strategy to obtain two-dimensional carbon/cerium oxide core–shell nanosheets by thermal decomposition of Ce-MOF nanosheets grown on the surface of carbon nanostructures, and fine-tuning the surface structure by introducing oxygen vacancies through defect engineering during the oxide nucleation process is conducted to obtain controllable exposed {1 1 1} and {1 1 0} surface CeO 2 @C composites. Both experiments and theoretical calculations show that the {1 1 0} -dominated nanocomplex (CeO 2 @C-350S) has better kinetic behavior and catalytic activity due to its abundant surface defects, which is manifested in higher active surface area, richer carrier concentration, and better promotion of diffusion and adsorption. In addition, CeO 2 @C-350S electrode has an extremely wide linear range and good stability in the electrochemical detection of nitrite. After 1000 times of the accelerated cycle experiments, CeO 2 @C-350S electrode still maintains 79.3 % of its initial current response, and recovers to 87.3 % after 10 min of stopping the test. The electrode stability is excellent, which is attributed to the clever carbon shell structure of the material. This synthesis strategy can be extended to other carbon-based oxide composite catalysts to improve the electrocatalytic performance and overall stability by adjusting the surface structure. Background: An accessory extreme far anteromedial portal can improve visualisation and ease inferior leaf meniscectomy in patients with lateral meniscal anterior horn horizontal tears. However, the therapeutic outcomes of adding an accessory extreme far anteromedial portal remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of adding an accessory extreme far anteromedial portal for treating lateral meniscal horizontal tears involving the anterior horns. Methods: This retrospective study included 101 patients with anterior horn involvement in lateral meniscal horizontal tears who underwent arthroscopic unstable inferior leaf meniscectomy between January 2016 and December 2020. The pathologies were diagnosed using physical examinations and magnetic resonance imaging. The anterior horn involved in the lateral meniscal horizontal tears was treated using inferior leaf meniscectomy. The primary endpoints were changes in the visual analogue scale, Lysholm, International Knee Documentation Committee, and Tegner scores at the final follow-up. The secondary endpoint was meniscal cure rate at 3 months postoperatively. The preoperative and postoperative functional scores were compared. The occurrence of complications was recorded. Results: All patients were followed up for an average of 4.9 ± 1.2 years (range 2.3–7.5 years). After 4 months, none of the patients experienced pain, weakness, instability, or tenderness in the lateral joint line, achieving an imaging cure rate of 98%. At the final follow-up, significant postoperative improvements were observed in the average values of the visual analogue scale score (3.5 ± 0.7 vs. 0.7 ± 0.6), Lysholm score (62.7 ± 4.4 vs. 91.8 ± 3.1), International Knee Documentation Committee score (61.9 ± 3.7 vs. 91.7 ± 9.5), and Tegner score (2.0 ± 0.7 vs. 6.1 ± 0.7). Excellent Lysholm scores were obtained in 81 patients, and good outcomes were obtained in 18 patients, with an excellent-to-good rate of 98.0%. Conclusions: Inferior leaf resection via the accessory far anteromedial portal is a safe treatment option for the involved anterior horn in lateral meniscal horizontal tears. Background: Traditional total hip arthroplasty (THA) using the direct anterior approach (DAA) requires a hip extension. This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of patients undergoing THA with DAA using either the no hip extension (NHE) or the traditional hip extension (THE) strategy. Methods: A retrospective analysis of demographics, clinical and radiological outcomes, and occurrence of complications was performed using data from 123 patients treated between January 2020 and November 2021. The patients were categorised into two groups: NHE (84 patients) and THE (39 patients). Results: The NHE group exhibited shorter operative time and had more male participants with higher ages. Comparable outcomes were observed in the visual analogue scale, Harris Hip, and Oxford Hip scores at the final follow-up. Furthermore, complications were observed in the NHE and THE groups, including two and one greater trochanteric fractures and three and one transfusions, respectively. Conclusions: Compared to the THE, employing the NHE strategy during THA with DAA in elderly and young female patients resulted in comparable clinical outcomes with several advantages, such as favourable surgical time. Background: Clinicians traditionally aim to identify a singular explanation for the clinical presentation of a patient; however, in some cases, the diagnosis may remain elusive or fail to comprehensively explain the clinical findings. In recent years, advancements in next-generation sequencing, including whole-exome sequencing, have led to the incidental identification of dual diagnoses in patients. Herein we present the cases of five pediatric patients diagnosed with dual rare genetic diseases. Their natural history and diagnostic process were explored, and lessons learned from utilizing next-generation diagnostic technologies have been reported. Results: Five pediatric cases (3 boys, 2 girls) with dual diagnoses were reported. The age at diagnosis was from 3 months to 10 years. The main clinical presentations were psychomotor retardation and increased muscular tension, some accompanied with liver dysfunction, abnormal appearance, precocious puberty, dorsiflexion restriction and varus of both feet, etc. After whole-exome sequencing, nine diseases were confirmed in these patients: Angelman syndrome and Krabbe disease in case 1, Citrin deficiency and Kabuki syndrome in case 2, Homocysteinemia type 2 and Copy number variant in case 3, Isolated methylmalonic acidemia and Niemann-Pick disease type B in case 4, Isolated methylmalonic acidemia and 21-hydroxylase deficiency in case 5. Fifteen gene mutations and 2 CNVs were identified. Four novel mutations were observed, including c.15292de1A in KMT2D, c.159_164inv and c.1427G > A in SLC25A13, and c.591 C > G in MTHFR. Conclusions: Our findings underscore the importance of clinicians being vigilant about the significance of historical and physical examination. Objective: To show the impact of Sjögren's syndrome (SS) on maternal and fetal outcomes following pregnancy. Methods: We performed a literature search based on PubMed, Web of science, Wan fang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and ProQuest databases from 1 January 2007 to 6 November 2022. Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations approach was used to assess the certainty of the evidence. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses were performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Pooled odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using a random-effect, generic inverse variance method of DerSimonian and Laird. Trial sequential analyses were performed by TSA 0.9. Results: Nine studies with 2341 patients and 2472 pregnancies with SS were included in our analysis. This current analysis showed pregnancy hypertension and preeclampsia/eclampsia to be significantly higher in pregnant women with SS compared to pregnant women without SS (OR: 1.65, 95% CI: 1.04–2.63; P = 0.03), (OR: 2.06, 95% CI: 1.16–3.65; P = 0.01) respectively. Cesarean section, thromboembolic disease, premature rupture of membranes, and spontaneous abortion were also significantly higher in the SS women with OR: 2.07, 95% CI: 1.48–2.88; P < 0.0001, OR: 9.45, 95% CI: 1.99–44.87; P = 0.005, OR: 1.36, 95% CI: 1.13–1.64; P = 0.001, OR: 9.30, 95% CI: 4.13–20.93; P < 0.00001, respectively. Significantly higher premature births were observed with infants who were born from SS mothers (OR: 2.19, 95% CI: 1.54–3.12; P < 0.0001). Infants defined as 'small for gestational age/intrauterine growth restriction' and 'weighing < 2500 g' were also significantly higher in patients suffering from SS (OR: 2.26, 95% CI: 1.38–3.70; P = 0.001), (OR: 3.84, 95% CI: 1.39–10.61; P = 0.009) respectively. In addition, live birth significantly favored infants who were born from mothers without SS (OR: 21.53, 95% CI: 8.36–55.44; P < 0.00001). Subgroup analysis by sample size revealed that pregnancy hypertension risk has significantly increased in small cohort (OR: 2.74, 95%CI: 1.45–5.18), and a slight increase was found in population-based studies (OR: 1.14, 95%CI: 0.91–1.43). In both small cohorts and population-based researches, cesarean section was significantly higher in SS (OR: 2.13, 95% CI: 1.29, 3.52; OR: 1.85, 95% CI: 1.29–2.64, respectively). The number of infants with intrauterine growth restriction did not grow in the population-based researches (OR: 2.07, 95%CI: 0.92–4.66) although there has been an increase in small reports (OR: 2.53, 95%CI: 1.16–5.51). Subgroup analysis was conducted on the basis of study location (not Asian vs. Asian countries) indicated that cesarean section was significantly higher in SS in both countries (OR: 1.69, 95% CI: 1.31–2.18; OR: 3.37, 95% CI: 2.39–4.77, respectively). Achieving circularly polarized organic ultralong room‐temperature phosphorescence (CP‐OURTP) with a high luminescent dissymmetry factor (glum) is crucial for diverse optoelectronic applications. In particular, dynamically controlling the dissymmetry factor of CP‐OURTP can profoundly advance these applications, but it is still unprecedented. This study introduces an effective strategy to achieve photoirradiation‐driven chirality regulation in a bilayered structure film, which consists of a layer of soft helical superstructure incorporated with a light‐driven molecular motor and a layer of room‐temperature phosphorescent (RTP) polymer. The prepared bilayered film exhibits CP‐OURTP with an emission lifetime of 805 ms and a glum value up to 1.38. Remarkably, the glum value of the resulting CP‐OURTP film can be reversibly controlled between 0.6 and 1.38 over 20 cycles by light irradiation, representing the first example of dynamically controlling the glum in CP‐OURTP. In particular, dynamically controlling the dissymmetry factor of CP‐OURTP can profoundly advance these applications, but it is still unprecedented. This study introduces an effective strategy to achieve photoirradiation‐driven chirality regulation in a bilayered structure film, which consists of a layer of soft helical superstructure incorporated with a light‐driven molecular motor and a layer of room‐temperature phosphorescent (RTP) polymer. The prepared bilayered film exhibits CP‐OURTP with an emission lifetime of 805 ms and a glum value up to 1.38. Remarkably, the glum value of the resulting CP‐OURTP film can be reversibly controlled between 0.6 and 1.38 over 20 cycles by light irradiation, representing the first example of dynamically controlling the glum in CP‐OURTP. Liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LC NPs) are a kind of polymer NPs with LC mesogens, which can form special anisotropic morphologies due to the influence of LC ordering. Owing to the stimuli‐responsiveness of the LC blocks, LC NPs show abundant morphology evolution behaviors in response to external regulation. LC NPs have great application potential in nano‐devices, drug delivery, special fibers and other fields. Polymerization‐induced self‐assembly (PISA) method can synthesize LC NPs at high solid content, reducing the harsh demand for reaction solvent of the LC polymers, being a better choice for large‐scale production. In this review, we introduced recent research progress of PISA‐LC NPs by dividing them into several parts according to the LC mesogen, and discussed the improvement of experimental conditions and the potential application of these polymers. This paper investigated the static in vitro degradation behavior of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA)-oriented microcellular materials. The study compared the influence of different molecular chains and internal morphological structures on water penetration into the material. Also, the relationship between thse self-accelerated degradation caused by ester bond breakage and reduced material molecular weight and mechanical properties was explored. Furthermore, the mechanism behind the static in vitro degradation of oriented microcellular PLLA materials in simulated human body fluid was explored, laying the foundation for regulating the mechanical performance decline of oriented microcellular biomimetic bone repair materials to match specific bone healing periods. Quorum-sensing bacteria (QSB) are crucial factors for microbial communication, yet their ecological role in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) remains unclear. Here, we developed a method to identify QSB by comparing 16S rRNA gene sequences. QSB in 388 activated sludge samples collected from 130 WWTPs across China primarily were identified as rare taxa and conditionally rare taxa. A co-occurrence network shared by all sludge communities revealed that QSB exhibited higher average clustering coefficient (0.46) than non-QSB (0.15). Individual sludge networks demonstrated that quorum sensing microbiomes were positively correlated with network robustness and network complexity, including average clustering coefficient and link density. We confirmed that QSB keystones and QSB nodes have a positive impact on network complexity by influencing network modularity through a structural equation model. Meanwhile, QSB communities directly contributed to maintaining network robustness (r = 0.29, P < 0.05). Hence, QSB play an important role in promoting network complexity and stability. Furthermore, QSB communities were positively associated with the functional composition of activated sludge communities (r = 0.33, P < 0.01), especially the denitrification capacity (r = 0.45, P < 0.001). Six pairs of enantiomeric dilignans, (+)/(−)-magdiligols A–F, have been isolated from an ethanolic extract of the barks of Magnolia officinalis var. biloba. Their chemical structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses, NMR calculation with DP4+ analysis, and the electronic circular dichroism spectra calculation. (+)/(−)- 1 – 3 possessed a dihydrobenzopyran ring, while a propyl chain of 1 was linked via ether bond. (+)/(−)-Magdiligols D and E ((+)/(−)- 4 and 5) were dilignans possessing a furan ring. (+)-Magdiligol B ((+)/(−)- 2), (+)/(−)-magdiligol C ((+)/(−)- 3), and racemes 2 , 3 , and 5 showed potential hepatoprotective effects against APAP-induced HepG2 cell damage, increased the cell viability from 65.4% to 72.7, 78.7.76.6, 73.9, 77.9 and 73.2%, via decreasing the level of the live enzymes ALH and LDH consistently. (+)/(−)-Magdiligols B–D ((+)/(−)- 2 – 4) and (+)/(−)-magdiligol F ((+)/(−)- 6) exhibited significant antioxidative activity. (+)/(−)-Magdiligols B–C ((+)/(−)- 2 and 3), (−)-magdiligol D ((−)- 4), and (+)-magdiligol E ((+)- 5) displayed significant PTP1B inhibitory activity with IC 50 values 1.41–3.42 μM. Mass spectrometry (MS) assays offer exceptional capabilities in high multiplexity, specificity, and throughput. As proteomics technologies continue advancements to identify new disease biomarkers, transition of these innovations from research settings to clinical applications becomes imperative. To meet the rigorous regulatory standards of clinical laboratories, development of a clinical protein MS assay necessitates adherence to stringent criteria. To illustrate the process, this project focused on using thyroglobulin (Tg) as a biomarker and an immuno-multiple reaction monitoring (iMRM) MS-based assay as a model for establishing a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) compliant laboratory within the Centers of Genomic and Precision Medicine, National Taiwan University. The chosen example also illustrates the clinical utility of MS assays to complement conventional immunoassay-based methods, particularly in cases where the presence of autoantibodies in 10–30% of patients hinders accuracy. The laboratory design entails a comprehensive coordination in spatial layout, workflow organization, equipment selection, ventilation systems, plumbing, electrical infrastructure, documentation procedures, and communication protocols. Practical aspects of the transformation process, including preparing laboratory facilities, testing environments, instrument validation, assay development and validation, quality management, sample testing, and personnel competency, are discussed. Finally, concordant results in proficiency testing demonstrate the harmonization with the University of Washington Medical Center and the quality assurance of the CLIA-equivalent Tg-iMRM MS assay established in Taiwan. The realization of this model protein MS assay in Taiwan highlights the feasibility of international joint development and provides a detailed reference map to expedite the implementation of more MS-based protein assays in clinical laboratories for patient care. In this work, the materials from different positions of 2219 aluminum‐alloy/304 stainless‐steel inertia friction–welded tank with long‐term storage of N2O4 are studied. The results show that the corrosion product layer composed of Fe3O4 and FeCr2O4 is covered on the surface of stainless steel. The corrosion product layer on the surface of stainless steel can effectively improve the protection effect. Severe corrosion occurred in both the sidewall and bottom aluminum alloy, with intergranular corrosion depths of about 30–50 μm observed in the cross section, accompanied by typical exfoliation corrosion. A Fe–Al‐dominated intermetallic compound layer is formed at the weld. A dynamic recrystallization zone and thermomechanical‐affected zone are included on the aluminum‐alloy side with intergranular corrosion depths of 4.3 and 13.3 μm, respectively. The granular Al matrix can be seen on the peeling surface of the aluminum alloy. Combining scanning Kelvin probe and potentiodynamic polarization curve results, the high potential of the stainless steel can further promote the corrosion of the aluminum alloy. Purpose: The motor symptoms (MS) of Parkinson's disease (PD) have been affecting the quality of life in patients. In clinical practice, most patients with PD report that MS are more severe in winter than in summer, and hyperthermic baths (HTB) could temporarily improve MS. The study aimed to evaluate the effects of seasonal variation and aquatic thermal environment of HTB on the MS of PD. Patients and methods: A cross‐sectional study of 203 Chinese Han patients was performed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to analyze seasonal variation in MS relative to baseline data (sex, age at onset, duration, season of birth, Hoehn and Yahr stage, family history, levodopa equivalent dose, and the effect of HTB on MS). Ten subjects participated in the HTB study, and one patient dropped out. The paired Wilcoxon rank test was used to assess the differences in the Movement Disorder Society‐United Parkinson's disease Rating Scale (MDS‐UPDRS) part III motor examination total scores and the modified Webster Symptoms Score between non‐HTB and before HTB and between non‐HTB and after HTB. Results: The improvement of MS after HTB was an independent risk factor for seasonal variation in MS (OR, 25.203; 95% CI, 10.951–58.006; p =.000). Patients with PD had significant improvements in the MDS‐UPDRS part III motor examination total scores, especially in bradykinesia (p =.043), rigidity (p =.008), posture (p =.038), and rest tremor amplitude (p =.047). Conclusion: Seasonal variation in temperature and water temperature of HTB may affect MS in some patients with PD. Simple HTB could be recommended as physiotherapy for patients with PD who report temperature‐sensitive MS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LncRNA plays a crucial role in cancer progression and targeting, but it has been difficult to identify the critical lncRNAs involved in colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. We identified FAM83H-AS1 as a tumor-promoting associated lncRNA using 21 pairs of stage IV CRC tissues and adjacent normal tissues. In vitro and in vivo experiments revealed that knockdown of FAM83H-AS1 in CRC cells inhibited tumor proliferation and metastasis, and vice versa. M6A modification is critical for FAM83H-AS1 RNA stability through the writer METTL3 and the readers IGF2BP2/IGFBP3. PTBP1-an RNA binding protein-is responsible for the FAM83H-AS1 function in CRC. T4 (1770-2440 nt) and T5 (2440-2743 nt) on exon 4 of FAM83H-AS1 provide a platform for PTBP1 RRM2 interactions. Our results demonstrated that m6A modification dysregulated the FAM83H-AS1 oncogenic role by phosphorylated PTBP1 on its RNA splicing effect. In patient-derived xenograft models, ASO- FAM83H-AS1 significantly suppressed the growth of gastrointestinal (GI) tumors, not only CRC but also GC and ESCC. The combination of ASO- FAM83H-AS1 and oxaliplatin/cisplatin significantly suppressed tumor growth compared with treatment with either agent alone. Notably, there was pathological complete response in all these three GI cancers. Increasing research has focused on how ovarian hormones influence individual prosocial motivation and cooperation. However, most results remain ambiguous and contradictory. Here, we collected progesterone (PROG) and oestradiol from 62 healthy women with regular menstrual cycles to explore whether variations in ovarian hormones could flexibly change their cooperative preference according to their opponents' strategies in multiple rounds of a prisoner's dilemma (PD) game. Participants in different menstrual phases (32 in the follicular phase [FP] and 30 in the luteal phase [LP]) were asked to complete 20 rounds of PD games with each of three computer opponents holding different cooperative strategies. The results revealed that in PD games that did not require cooperation for increased outcomes, women in the LP (high PROG) reduced their cooperation rate more significantly than women in the FP (low PROG). In contrast, when the game design required reciprocity, simultaneously elevated levels of PROG and oestradiol predicted greater instances of participants choosing to cooperate. Furthermore, we found that elevated PROG levels accounted for women's elevated prosocial choices, regardless of the need to increase outcomes through cooperation. These results implied higher levels of PROG and oestradiol influence women's cooperative strategies resulting in increased social interactions. • Women in the luteal phase exhibit significantly lower cooperation rates than women in the follicular phase in prisoner's dilemma games that required greater gains through competition. • Progesterone is positively correlated with women's cooperation rates, regardless of whether or not opponents employ competitive strategies. • The combined effect of progesterone and oestradiol on women's cooperation rates when competing with a tit-for-tat opponent was observed. • The microwave magnetic properties were studied in twisting structure of artificial ferrimagnet Py/Gd multilayers via FMR measurement. • The increscent magnetic twisting extent due to the enhancement of antiferromagnetic coupling between Py and Gd. • The inverse relationship between 4 πM eff and α eff with an increasing Gd thickness is attributed to the spin pumping effect at the interface. The noncollinear magnetic structure is attracting significant attention owing to its abundant characteristics as well as its potential applications in spintronic devices. In this work, the magnetic characteristics for an artificial ferrimagnetic Py/Gd multilayer system having the magnetic twisted state were investigated. With an increasing thickness (1.4 to 4 nm) of the Gd layer (t Gd), the effective magnetization decreased initially until t Gd = 2.5 nm and then increased, which was found to be induced by the change of magnetic twisted state due to antiferromagnetic coupling between Py and Gd. Moreover, the effective Gilbert damping factor was found to be completely opposite to the effective magnetization with increasing t Gd.
