This paper analyses the strategy developed thus far to have Andalusian olive-growing landscapes included as a Cultural Landscape on the World Heritage List (UNESCO). The research method used is descriptive, reflexive and prospective, and seeks to achieve a systematic and holistic overview of a complex reality. In addition to the corresponding bibliographical review, the research has been nourished by qualitative information from land surveys (field visits) and interviews with experts consulted during the preparation of the two technical dossiers of the candidacy produced so far. The results include the rationale for Outstanding Universal Value and the basis of the protection and management plan for the property. Subsequently, the paper discusses the possibilities for rural development that can be derived from this initiative through the virtuous interactions between the property, the region and the food (olive oil) obtained from traditional olive groves. For over five centuries the Gitanos/Calé of Spain have shown a marked preference for marrying within their ethnocultural community. In the last decades, however, various Gitano groups have experienced a rise in intermarriage that is transforming their families, their identities and their interactions with mainstream society. This paper analyzes this historical transformation in an area of Andalusia that shows some of the highest concentrations of Romani people in Western Europe. Ethnographic and historical-demographic research allowed the reconstitution of 3,336 Gitano families formed from 1900 to 2006. Of these 421 (12,6%) were mixed. This rate increased to over 25% in the 2000s, and in some localities about half of the recent Gitano marriages were mixed. Three major findings emerge from this case study. Firstly, the local environment plays a key role in intermarriage. Local history generated different intercultural environments and relationships in adjacent municipalities, leading to diverse levels of intermarriage. Secondly, more Gitanas are marrying non-Gitano men than vice versa. Since 1990 Gitanas made 60% of all mixed unions. Thirdly, Gitanas in mixed marriages tend to marry later and to have fewer children than those in endogamous unions. Thus, these women may have been trailblazers in the fertility transitions of Gitano women. The paper hypothesizes that the incorporation of the Gitano/Calé people into the institutions of the Welfare State has favored interactions across ethnic boundaries, reduced social distance, and facilitated intermarriage. This paper analyses the governance of territorial development, arguing that the social economy and cooperativism represent an effective way of managing these processes. A literature review is first carried out to identify the main variables characterising territorial governance. The synergies emerging between cooperativism and territorial development are then analysed, along with the role played by the social economy in responding to complex processes of territorial governance. Finally, the case study of Bonares, a municipality in Andalusia (Spain) that encourages territorial development by participating in a second-degree cooperative, will be studied. The paper concludes that the variables identified in the literature review as influencing the success of territorial governance processes are apparent in the cooperativist approach to governance in the municipality. This paper proposes a new methodology for detecting outliers in spatially correlated functional data. We use a Local Correlation Integral (LOCI) algorithm substituting the Euclidean distance calculation by the Hilbert space L 2 distance weighted by the semivariogram, obtaining a weighted dissimilarity metric among the geo-referenced curves, which takes into account the spatial correlation structure. In addition, we also consider the distance proposed in Romano et al. (2020), which optimizes the distance calculation for spatially dependent functional data. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methodology. We analyze the role of a threshold value appearing as an hyperparameter in our approach, and show that our distance weighted by the semivariogram is overall superior to the other types of distances considered in the study. We analyze time series of Land Surface Temperature (LST) data in the region of Andalusia (Spain), detecting significant outliers that would have not been detected using other procedures. Platform capitalism is a growing reality with a widening social and economic impact. The rapid expansion of Short-Term Rental (STR) platforms has led to new challenges for policy regulation. The main objective of this paper is to shed some light on current conflicts surrounding the regulation of STR. The body of literature on this topic mainly focuses on the increasing substitution of sharing economy by commercial hosts. By contrast, we explain that the ideological notion of host hinders the understanding of the supply-side structure. A critical approach (as critique of ideology and ideological categories) should entail a class perspective based on rent theory and engage with critical works on platform capitalism. In this article, we propose an innovative analytical approach to STR supply-side supported by rent theory, which focuses on the relationship of agents with land and technology ownership and specialised management services, as these are forms of rent appropriation. From this point of view, these supply-side agents are not hosts, but class factions with common and competing economic interests in rent appropriation. Therefore, they can employ a variety of strategies to influence the political regulation of STRs. Based on in-depth interviews with landlords, individual managers, and corporate agencies in Andalusia (Southern Spain), we show the conflicting internal structure behind the ideological notion of host and even professionalisation. Using a quantitative-qualitative content analysis methodology, this paper explores the Twitter and Instagram profiles of political candidates affiliated with PP, PSOE, Vox, Adelante Andalucía, and Por Andalucía during the electoral campaign period leading up to the regional elections held on 29 June 2022, in Andalusia. We analysed a total of 871 posts with the objective of researching the populist communication strategies employed by each candidate, the main topics on their agenda and the attacks they launched against their rivals according to the social network used. The most relevant findings highlight the suitability of both networks to transmit messages that place people at the centre of the leaders' populist discourse. Twitter solidifies its role as the most popular digital tool for broadcasting campaign events and issuing calls to vote. Instagram emerges as the digital platform candidates most frequently use to present their political programme proposals and has the highest number of posts containing attacks by political leaders. This paper describes the methodology used for the data collection and calculation of erosion rates and presents the recent results for the period 2001-2019 for all the beaches of the Andalusian shoreline. This period is divided into two subperiods (2001-2011 and 2001-2019) to detect possible trend changes during the study years. The proxy corresponding to the internal limit of the backshore has been used, which is very useful for medium to long-term coastal erosion rates. The results show the rates calculated for this proxy, which reveal a high presence of artificially stabilised sectors where the inward migration of the shoreline associated with it is hindered, together with an intensification of the retreat rates in natural sections. Similarly, there is a clear differentiation between a relatively dynamic Atlantic façade with a higher percentage of erosive sectors and a Mediterranean façade highly conditioned by anthropic presence, with a lower percentage but a higher intensity in their values. The advent and spread of social networking sites have been the object of study of most of the research performed on political communication over the past 25 years. However, more recent inquiries have indicated that the political establishment still has not fully exploited the interactive potential of these media. Against this backdrop, this paper presents the results of a systematic study of the communication between the main political parties in Andalusia (the most populous region in Spain) and the citizenry on Twitter, with the aim of confirming whether or not it is really interactive and participatory. To this end, the spotlight is placed here on those parties most active online and on the way in which they foster interactivity, the subjects that they broach and the functions of their messages. The data were obtained from a content analysis of the tweets (n = 10,729) posted on the official profiles of the main Andalusian parties in 2020. The results indicate that there was no interactive communication with the citizenry, despite the fact that they were in much need of reassurance owing to the unprecedented situation to which the COVID-19 pandemic had given rise. The Andalusian political parties still use social networking sites for the one-way dissemination of information, which shows that they are not, in practice, horizontal and participatory spaces of communication, as the cyber-optimists, defending the innovation hypothesis, predicted. • GNSS-PWV time series are computed using 44 GNSS stations in Andalucía and ERA5 temperature and pressure data. • GNSS-PWV and ERA5-PWV are used to compute SPCI time series. • The SPCI generally shows high correlation with the SPEI, with better results for ERA5-SPCI than GNSS-SPCI. • The SPCI outperforms SPI for a limited geographical region and 24-month timescale. In this paper the Standardized Precipitation Conversion Index (SPCI), a PWV-based drought index, has been computed using GNSS and ERA5 PWV and its performance has been tested with respect to the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) in Southern Spain. One of the climatic features of this area is the low correlation level between PWV and precipitation, in contrast with other areas in which SPCI has been previously tested. The GNSS-SPCI has been derived from validated ZTD time series estimated from local GNSS permanent stations' data. All the needed meteorological values were derived from ERA5, excepting precipitation values and SPEI-SPI values which were extracted from a national high-resolution dataset. The resulting SPCI time series have shown high correlation coefficients with respect to the SPEI. The use of longer SPCI time series allowed by ERA5 model has provided the most coherent results, suggesting that the ERA5-PWV data can be interesting to overcome problems caused by the short timespan of GNSS time series in SPCI computation. In general, high correlation coefficients have been obtained compared to global results from previous studies. This shows that, even for regions with low correlation levels between PWV and precipitation, the SPCI can have an interesting potential for drought monitoring. The SPCI was found to perform better on higher timescales (12 and 24 months). The performance of SPCI has also been compared that of the SPI: SPCI is able to outperform SPI for the 24-month timescale for a limited geographical region. Universities play a crucial role in the development of a society's entrepreneurial spirit. Among the different vehicular entrepreneurship alternatives, there is one with unique characteristics that is the cooperative. However, very few of the new companies created in the university environment are cooperatives, entities promoted by public institutions because they constitute an effective tool for entrepreneurship that places the individual at the centre of its structure to combine economic and social interests. This paper analyses the presence of cooperativism in the academic and entrepreneurial reality of the public universities of Andalusia, one of the regions with more entrepreneurs, university students, and where cooperativism has been most promoted by political institutions. To this end, we analyse the academic offer of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at nine Andalusian public universities and conduct in-depth interviews with the heads and technical staff of the entrepreneurship services at these universities, using inductive and qualitative methodologies. The results show a scarce and improvable presence of cooperativism in the curricula of the analysed degrees, as well as a management by the entrepreneurship services not directly oriented towards collective initiatives or, therefore, towards cooperativism, of which there is also a clear understanding of cooperativism. This means that potential university entrepreneurs are previously unaware of both the cooperative model and cooperative values and principles. In view of this situation, a comprehensive plan is proposed based on the interaction of university entrepreneurship services with the teaching staff and institutions that encourage and promote cooperativism. This paper describes the operations carried out to generate a georeferenced heritage inventory at a supra-municipal scale. The tool establishes links between its heritage elements based on the features and characteristics of the territory. The work has been carried out on the fluvial zone of the Lower Guadalquivir, an area of approximately 8500 km2 located in Andalusia in the south of Spain. The method used is based on the digital inventory of the Andalusian immovable historical heritage generated by the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage, in which more than 500 heritage assets in the study area are indexed. The work begins with the expansion and processing of these assets with the aim of reorganizing them and establishing new parameters in their classification schemes. Subsequently, a spatial analysis developed in a GIS environment detects relationships between heritage assets determined by the physical characteristics of the territory. These relationships are contrasted by historical research, and eight heritage networks in the territory are defined as a result. Finally, one of the networks is used to show how, from the graph theory, it is possible to investigate the detected links. Ultimately, it is discussed how this study allows us to move toward new models of the heritage management of territorial dimension and relational vocation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the last decade, Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has prioritised measures focused on sustainability and quality over production. The purpose of the AGRICORE project is to develop a tool based on agent-based modelling to assist policymakers in the design of improved policies. The present study belongs to a use case of this project that measures the environmental and climate impact of Measure 11—Organic agriculture—from the 2014–2020 Rural Development Programme of the Andalusian olive sector. As part of this study, a survey campaign was conducted, which collected data from 189 organic olive farmers in Andalusia. The data were analysed in order to characterise organic olive farmers and their farms. This paper presents the resulting characterisation, covering some information gaps detected as part of the AGRICORE project, such as their acceptance of M11 and willingness to innovate and take risks. The results highlight that most of the respondents are unaware of important aspects, such as exploitation costs and their belonging to environmentally protected areas. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that most farmers are approximately 60 years old, and more than 35% are women. Furthermore, most of those studied do not intend to return to conventional production methods. These results help to provide a current perspective of the organic olive sector in Andalusia, which can be used by policymakers to design improved policies that entail an increase in organic olive production. This paper describes the compilation of a glossary of words related to the productive activities performed in the mid twentieth century in the middle course of the River Guadalquivir, on its way through Córdoba (Andalucía). The aim is to demonstrate that these words provide a fundamental knowledge about the local culture that is essential to fully understand oral records on that particular place at that time. The words included in the glossary, which can be found in the appendix, were collected from a number of biographical interviews that were carried out in the course of a larger project about the industrial heritage of the city, in which the authors participate as ethnographers and anthropologists. The paper shows how the transcription of the interviews influenced the decision to develop the glossary and how the words were chosen. As a sample, a specific analysis of one of the terms included, the vernacular form súa, is also provided. Finally, the paper reflects on the potential social use of this glossary and its patrimonial status. It argues that these words need to be documented and considers the risks associated to perspectives on heritage that place too much emphasis on conservationism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we have focused on the Self-Determination Theory, paying special attention to intrinsic motivation, which is understood as the motivation that leads the subject to perform a task without the expectation of obtaining an external reward. In the field of sport, motivation is one of the most studied variables and one of the most researched, since it is closely related to the reasons that lead the athletes to start, maintain, and abandon sports practice. The main objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between intrinsic motivation (IM) and emotional intelligence from the theoretical contributions of the Self-Determination Theory. The specific objectives are to analyze attention, clarity, and emotional regulation, as well as intrinsic motivation to acquire knowledge. Additionally, we aim to explore the relationship between attention, clarity, and emotional regulation and the intrinsic motivation to achieve something. Lastly, we investigate the correspondence between attention, clarity, and emotional regulation and the intrinsic motivation to experience stimuli. The sample consists of 163 undergraduate and master's students related to Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, studying at a Spanish public university, located in the southeast region of Andalusia—specifically, in the city of Almería. The participants had a mean age of 20.33 years. In terms of gender, 70.9% (n = 117) were men and 27.9% (n = 46) women. In terms of degree, 76.7% (n = 147) were undergraduate students and 23.3% (n = 18) were postgraduate students. The Sports Motivation Scale (SMS/EMD) was used to assess intrinsic motivation, and the TMMS-24 was used to assess emotional intelligence. The main findings of this research demonstrate the existence of a relationship between the three dimensions of emotional intelligence (emotional attention, emotional clarity, and emotional regulation) and intrinsic motivation (intrinsic motivation to know something, intrinsic motivation to achieve something, and intrinsic motivation to experience stimulation). The main goal of this paper is to develop a statistical study about the electricity consumption in every city and town of Andalusia which has Endesa Distribución Eléctrica as supplier during the year 2020. In order to do so, we will use Stata software and the database of the Mutiterritorial Information System of Andalusia. The results obtained allow us to conclude that there exist significant differences in Andalusia with respect to the average electricity consumption per capita locally and globally. This yields to the existence of atypical data and that our variable does not fit to a normal behavior. This paper compares and analyzes the questions and problems of Genetics raised between 2010 and 2019) in the university entrance exams of four autonomous communities (Andalucia, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Murcia). After analyzing the 160 tests collected, it is found that there are differences between the communities both in the structure of the tests, the presence or not of certain contents and their evaluations in the correction. In relation to Genetics problems, differences between communities are also appreciated and certain aspects that can be improved from the didactic point of view are maintained. The last third of the 20th century was witness the agrarian transformation of the Huelva province coast. Its traditional agriculture turned into one of the most avant-garde and technical in Andalusia and Spain. Previously marginal lands, considered unproductive, became central. We dedicate the paper to the description and analysis of the local heterodox agrarian reform that initiated this transformation: the occupation, subdivision, and cultivation of the collective forest and bushland of El Avitorejo and surroundings, later known as Las Malvinas, in the township areas of Moguer and Palos de la Frontera. Starting from the consideration of the problems generated by the disorderly growth of the Andalusian cities in the 1960's, this paper proposes to analyze how a change of orientation occurred during the Transition in the search for the solution of these problems in the urban field, hand in hand with the neighborhood movement and various professional groups, specially that of architects. This paper provides a panoramic and comparative analysis of the legislation passed by the Autonomous Communities to tackle climate change. The Paris Agreement gives them a leading role, together with other actors, as subnational entities to face and achieve the challenges posed by climate change mitigation and adaptation. At the time of writing, only three autonomous communities have approved legislative instruments to mitigate and adapt to climate change. These are Catalonia, Andalusia, and the Balearic Islands. However, other regions have approved strategies and policies for the same purpose, and some have begun the process of approving the relevant legislation. In this paper we study the objectives to mitigate and adapt to climate change set out in these laws, the legal instruments they prescribe to achieve them, and their effective implementation and development. He constructed a metaphysical doctrine and wrote about many issues including femininity and gender. His thoughts about the metaphysical state of women and femininity caused his approach to be interpreted as a source for Islamic feminism. He advocates for spiritual equality between men and women because of sharing "humanity" and asserts that women can attain the highest level of sainthood (qutbiyya). For his views on women's imamate, testimony, and veiling, he is portrayed as a pro-woman thinker by some contemporary scholars. On the other hand, calling a great master "feminist" or at least "pro-feminist" is unacceptable for orthodox Muslims because of the pejorative connotations of feminism in mainstream Islamic thought. By explaining feminism through main feminist texts, and critically analyzing Ibn al-'Arabī's approach to gender through his works and books about gender issues in his philosophy, this paper attempts to introduce Ibn al-'Arabī to gender scholars and feminism to Islamic scholars, and discuss his approach to women and gender. The aim of this paper is to determine the influence that the state of the economy had on the electoral behaviour of Andalusians in the regional election held on 2 December 2018. Structural equation modelling was used to analyse the perception that Andalusians had of the economic situation and whether this determined their electoral response to a minority parliamentary government, sustained with the support of the Ciudadanos party. Both our findings and the subsequent results in the 2018 Andalusian Parliament election showed a clear erosion of the support for the incumbent PSOE party, as well as for the main opposition party (PP). Ciudadanos, which had acted as support party, doubled its electoral base and improved its results, as did Vox. They were the only two parties to improve their previous electoral results. This paper is a theoretical and audiovisual investigation that has the objective of identifying and studying the presence and representation of the concept of happiness in Andalusia as depicted in the Cruzcampo advertising campaign 'With much accent'. This is a qualitative study in which an exploratory-descriptive methodology divided into phases has been applied. First, the concept has been observed from different social and psychological perspectives. Second, an audiovisual analysis of the spot has been done. Finally, communication of the advertising campaign has been analyzed through the different degrees of representation. After the analysis, we obtain results that reinterpret the importance of the Andalusian myth and the relationship with tradition for a new generation of young people from an ideological, cultural, social and future perspective. The subject of the paper is a basic descriptive analysis from a diachronic and synchronic perspective of the (socio)linguistic phenomena seseo, ceceo and distinción with particular focus on the region of Andalucia; it traces back the phonetic and phonological changes (the reduction) of the fricative consonants that occurred in the Golden Age (XVI and XVII s.) and the far-reaching effects on the present consonant system in the Spanish Language, it illustrates the geographic distribution of the phenomena and the sociocultural implications of the use of the seseo-ceceo-distinción supported by copious examples excerpted from relevant sources among which the “Ortography of the Spanish Language” and the “Panhispanic Dictionary of Doubts” by the Spanish Royal Academy (RAE), “Spanish Dialectology” by Alonso Zamora Vicente etc. Concurrently, the paper in a rather concise form in compliance with the manuscript requirements of the Editorial board of the Journal compares the three phenomena that understandably generate considerable confusion and represent a major difficulty for the non-native Spanish learners. In this paper, we problematise the relationship between racism and immigrant integration policies. First, we approach racism from its geopolitical/institutional/governmental logic and contextualise the emergence of integration policies across the European Union. Then, we put into dialogue the fieldwork materials of our research projects, analysing intersections between the EU and Spanish integration policy frameworks. Despite the inclusive and proactive rhetoric often expressed by integration policies, we illustrate the existence of an 'elective affinity' between racism and integration by focusing on: (1) the construction of migrants as a problematic 'object' of governmental intervention; (2) the reduction of racism to an individual pathology and the underestimation of its institutional/structural dimensions; (3) the reproduction of epistemic racism through the discourse on European (and national) values. The construction of dolmens took place in Europe from the Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age (fifth millennium BC–second millennium BC) and had a rapid development along the Atlantic façade, with an important focus in Andalusia. Within this area, the megalithic necropolises located in the banks of the Gor River (Granada, Andalusia, Spain) are studied. In this paper, multivariate techniques are applied to characterize the dolmens associated with the Gor river megalithic landscape by means of two analyses. First, a new classification of the dolmens in necropolises using their location variables produces an optimal number of 8 necropolis instead of the traditional 11. In addition, this classification improves the traditional spatial division of the dolmens because there is no overlapping between necropolises. Secondly, a multivariate analysis of the dimensional variables, which aims to detect possible constructional patterns, is performed obtaining three main variables of grouping. The first two, length and width of the chamber, can be summarized as the area of the chamber and, in terms of this, the dolmens can be classified into two main groups. Since their inception, various urban planning laws have focused on meeting the growth needs of cities, with urban planning as a discipline paying minimal attention to rural settlement planning. It can, therefore sound clichéd to say that urban planning legislation has been mainly concerned with regulating urban and developable land, with residual or negative status being given to undevelopable or rural land. This has had major territorial impacts that continue to this day. The proposed subject of this paper is considered timely and topical, and its main objective is to analyse whether the planning instruments proposed in the Law for the Promotion of Territorial Sustainability in Andalusia (LISTA, acronym in Spanish) for rural settlements and scattered buildings can help regulate rural land dynamics in Andalusia. To do so, we will first model the patterns of settlement formation and isolated dwellings on rural land using geostatistical methods, and then carry out an analysis of the provisions of these latest rural land management laws, which will affect the planning regulations of this land in the coming years. The meridional mountains of Europe are located in Andalusia, in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. In this region, orographic and climatic factors are the main circumstances that condition the landscape and cultural peculiarities. Nowadays, its ecosystems show a high vulnerability to climate change, its traditional ways of life are in crisis and its cultural heritage is endangered by abandonment and depopulation. This paper analyzes some of the main documents that include proposals of environmental education at European, national and regional levels from the point of view of its adaptation the territory of the Andalusian Mediterranean mountains. Some educational actions are also evaluated in order to detect the possible existence of dysfunctionalities or deficiencies among the different educational policies and projects. In this paper we analyze the logic of economic incentive from the perspective of the teaching staff working within the Andalusian (Spain) state education system. We start from the interpretive paradigm in order to understand how neoliberalisation processes and the New Public Management (NPM) are perceived within the context of state education in Spain. Drawing on thirty interviews, conducted with secondary school teachers, we offer a content analysis and their assembly with the grounded theory. Our main focus is on how economic incentives are perceived in terms of their either acceptance, or rejection, by the teaching staff. In 2007, the autonomous community of Andalusia created a new instrument of integrated environmental prevention and control: The Unified Environmental Authorisation. After more than a decade since this instrument was implemented and once it is fully in use, this paper analyses in detail the regulation of this instrument: its meaning and goals, the types of activities and installations that are required to obtain it, the procedure that the Administration has to follow to issue the authorization, the criteria that the Administration has to take into consideration in the process and the public controls that this instrument implies for the activities and installations once they start up and for the whole time they are carried out. The paper pays special attention to a comparison between the Unified Environmental Authorisation and a similar instrument such as the Integrated Environmental Authorisation. The paper analyses also how the Environmental Impact Assessment is integrated in the process of issuing the Unified Environmental Authorisation and the problems that that causes. The bilingual turn required education systems to undergo structural changes in order to adapt to the new situations. These adjustments included better language training for teachers, the adoption of alternative teaching methods, the increased use of ICT and self-designed materials, the curricular integration of content and language and the creation of competence-based assessment guidelines. In order to evaluate the depth of this transformation and the actual effect that it had on students and schools, a sustained observation covering a sufficiently wide timespan needed to be performed. Two decades after the inception of bilingual education in Andalusia—Southern Spain—, this paper will describe the configuration of the Bilingual Program as perceived by the change agents: the school teachers. L1 Spanish teachers, L2 teachers and content teachers adopted different practices and therefore hold slightly divergent opinions. Nevertheless, there exists a consensus on the general benefits of CLIL bilingual education. Drawing from their perceptions, which will be presented for each of the above-mentioned aspects, this paper will counter the most recurrent criticisms that CLIL education meets. Demand‐side multipliers have ruled within multisectorial models as the main indicators for policy effectiveness and key‐sector determination both in linear interindustry analysis and in non‐linear applied general equilibrium models. In this paper we shift the perspective to supply‐side injections by studying the effects of marshalling additional primary factors (K, L) that give rise to a general resource reallocation. We obtain estimates of supply multipliers by numerically approximating the underlying and unobservable general equilibrium Jacobian matrix. These estimates provide complementary information to standard demand multipliers. We illustrate the methodology using an empirical general equilibrium model for the region of Andalusia, Spain. The social and cultural representations of food are essential when it comes to understanding the perception of risk and the trust/distrust that people place on it. In this paper, we analyse the attributes and categories that non-dependent older people aged 65 and over living in Spain use when talking about trust/distrust in relation to food. In order to explore how they manifest different social meanings, we have conducted a study based on an analysis of cultural domains. The results of examining free-listing and pile-sort techniques were triangulated with the narratives obtained from interviews, life histories, food diaries and participatory workshops. The ethnographic research was conducted between June 2021 and June 2022 in the autonomous communities of Andalusia and Catalonia as well as the Valencian Community. Understanding the criteria for trust and distrust through the analysis of cultural domains allows us to better comprehend what food risks are perceived by older people and what value they place on food safety in their food choices. Recent studies suggest that the activity-travel patterns of parents who escort their children to school have both social and environmental impacts. This paper explores the interaction between distance and travel time levels (TTLs) for escorted trips to school. The interaction between travel time and distance was modeled by formulating a logit-multilevel model to determine the factors that influence adults' transport mode choice to escort children to school in metropolitan areas of Andalusia, Spain, where accompaniment is mainly by car or on foot for a maximum reported distance of 2 km. The findings indicate that (1) the interaction between distance and time improves the explanatory capacity of the model, and (2) the odds ratio of escorted trips to school by car is much higher when TTL is low (less than 5 min) than when TTL is high (more than 15 min). These results suggest that in order to encourage people to escort children to and from school on foot, urban policies should include time policy measures to increase the time dedicated to escorting and to improve the socialization of escorting time. In the context of the economic recovery after the 2007/2008 crisis, the aim of this paper is to offer a classification of the Andalusian municipalities based on their migratory balances corresponding to the 2014/2019 period. To achieve this goal, we have used the Residential Variations Statistic, calculating from it a total of 7 migratory balances - total, three referred to the age of the migrants, and another three referred to the origin / destination of migration). Data has been analyzed using firstly a factorial analysis, and secondly a cluster analysis, and a total of 8 clusters has been obtained. Adding the sign of net migration rate the number of categories rises to 16, whose spatial distribution is still showing a dichotomy between an emigrant interior and an immigrant coastline; however, the analysis of the clusters, based on the components that underlie them, makes it possible to identify groups characterized by residential migration, others by a labour one, and others by the migratory balances of people aged over 64 years, among others. Women's membership in Spanish building engineering professional bodies has increased in the last decade, but since women only make up a fifth of the total registration, the situation is far from equitable. Furthermore, job allocation is gendered, with work on site very much male dominated. This paper delves deeper into occupational segregation within building engineering. By means of a survey to 704 undergraduate university students in their final year of the Schools of Building Engineering in Andalusia (Spain), career barriers mostly perceived for different career categories are determined. Significant differences in perceptions according to gender, age, working experience, and relatives in the industry are identified. The results reveal that career barriers' perception differs according to gender. Female students foresee a harder work scenario than males, especially in career paths directly related to work on site. Age, combined with gender, constitutes the sociodemographic variable showing most variations and becomes the key element of analysis. The career categories considered more accessible and those beyond reach are identified, considering the different variables chosen. This research offers a framework to reflect on the wide range of career barriers perceived by women as a group in the profession and warns of its possible impact on occupational segregation. Purpose: While the born global (BG) phenomenon has been well established in the literature, studies on accelerated internationalization of firms in the service sector have been scarce, particularly for the specific case of knowledge-intensive services (KIS). The purpose of this paper is to explore which competitive characteristics differentiate KIS BGs from other KIS firms in the context of a peripheral region. Design/methodology/approach: The empirical focus of this study comprehends primary survey data from 250 Spanish KIS firms (Andalusia) that have been internationalized and analyzed through ordinal and ordinary least squares regressions. The authors address the "born-global effect" on five features of interest, namely, entry mode, technological capabilities, qualification of staff, external resources and quality of services. Findings: Results suggest that KIS BGs in Andalusia perceive exports as a more relevant form of internationalization than its non-BG peers. Also, KIS BGs in Andalusia present higher levels of technological intensity. Differences in terms of staff qualification, access to extramural R&D resources and the quality of services could not be identified. Research limitations/implications: The main limitation of this research concerns its cross-sectional character, thus hindering the evaluation of developmental trajectories taking place in the cohort under scrutiny. Such an approach would allow a better comprehension of the competitiveness dynamics in internationalized KIS firms. Also, because this assessment is geographically restricted to Andalusia, Spain, the authors recommend caution in establishing direct comparisons and appropriation of results for other regional/national contexts. Practical implications: Recommendations for public policy include establishing the necessary infrastructures to encourage the technological development of KIS companies and provide support – through export promotion agencies, for instance – for early approximation with foreign markets. Taking into account the contributions of KIS firms for the development of a peripheral economy, this involves the need to establish instruments that provide strategic information to internationalize, as well as lines of funding for these companies. Originality/value: Empirical evidence on KIS BGs is needed to fully grasp its differences to other internationalized service firms. The analysis within this specific domain represents an advance in the literature on this subject. Also, the context of peripheral regions – considering their economic differences to core areas – has been understudied. This paper evaluates the presence of contents related to the ecological transition and the climate emergency in the Tourism degrees in Andalusia. To this end, the curricula, programs and teaching projects of the subjects were compiled and the competences and contents were analyzed. Finally, global and specific results (by universities or departments) have been obtained. Rail trails are non-motorised routes resulting from the conversion of disused railway lines, geared towards cycle tourism and other leisure activities. This paper seeks to highlight the potentialities and shortcomings of rail trails in Andalusia. A diagnosis is made through a SWOT matrix, with information from the management bodies and a coherent planning is applied. The results enable proposals intended to remedy the shortcomings detected and create an effective rail trail network in Andalusia, managed in a coordinated fashion and internationally comparable with regard to public usage. Tourism is an eminently visual sector, which encourages destinations to work on generating seductive representations to attract potential visitors. This paper analyses how heritage has been incorporated into the construction of the Andalusian induced image in recent decades, developing a semiotic analysis of the representations projected in the promotional material. Through this, it emerges that this image is the inheritance of the universal identity of the region built during Romanticism, in which the elements of its Arab past prevail. Finally, the study provides that territories that have a consolidated universal image, in which heritage plays a fundamental role, they use it to form their induced image due to its easy international recognition. The consolidation of the press as a means of disseminating political ideas and programmes during the first decades of the 20th century verifies the capacity of newspaper sources to study the construction of political identities. This is the case of the journal Andalucía, an organ of Andalusians expression during the regionalist/nationalist stage of historical Andalusianism (1915/1919-1930). This paper aims to apply Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis (CDA) to Andalucía coinciding with its period of publication in Seville (1916-1917). Based on the consolidated bibliography and the historiographical paradigm of the linguistic turn, it examines the construction of Andalusian identity during the epilogue of Restoration (1898-1930), characterised, among other aspects, by the emergence of regionalisms and nationalisms in certain parts of Spain. From this perspective, we are witnessing a different approach to what is written about historical Andalusianism, whose discourse reflected in the historical press indicates an ideology shaped by the interaction of different identities that define Andalusianness.
