Semi-filterless optical networks (semi-FONs), a novel passive wide area network (WAN) solution, have attracted considerable attention. This paper investigates the dynamic routing, modulation and spectrum assignment (RMSA) problem in semi-FONs, where requests may propagate on unnecessary links due to the broadcast characteristics of semi-FONs, resulting in wastage of spectrum resources. Moreover, the dynamically setup and torn down of requests can lead to significant spectrum fragments. To address these issues, this paper studies semi-FONs based on two metrics: resource consumption M and fragmentation degree N. Resource consumption M refers to reducing spectrum wastage caused by broadcasting and establishing requests using minimal resources, while fragmentation degree N refers to the situation where the remaining available resources after establishing a request are more concentrated. Based on these metrics, we propose the Minimum Resource Consumption and Fragmentation Degree (Min-RCF) algorithm. We conduct simulation experiments on the German-Net and China's Henan-Net network topologies, and the results demonstrate that the proposed Min-RCF algorithm achieves lower blocking probability and spectrum waste rate than the compared algorithms. • In the routing phase, resource consumption and spectrum wastage are reduced. • In the spectrum assignment phase, the spectrum fragmentation is reduced. • Reduced blocking probability and spectrum waste rate in the semi-filterless network. As China becomes more and more international, the number of people traveling abroad is also increasing. The demand for English recognition is becoming more and more vigorous, and traditional translation software is time-consuming, laborious, and less accurate. This article optimizes the target detection model YOLOV3. Firstly, the image is divided into multiple model structures, and the K-means++ clustering algorithm is used to determine the target detection prior frame value and the high frame of the corresponding frame according to the characteristics of the English image. Then, by using K-means++ clustering algorithm to optimize the anchor parameters, the model structure is better adapted to the English identification dataset scene; finally, the feature information extracted by the DarkNet-53 model is spliced to improve the structure of the YOLOV3 convolutional layer, using 3090 graphics card GPU to perform multiscale training and testing. Experimental results show that the improved YOLOV3 algorithm in this paper has a mAP of 0.95 on the English identification dataset and a detection speed of 50fps, which is 0.11 higher than the mAP before optimization. There are many thyroid diseases affecting people all over the world. Many diseases affect the thyroid gland, like hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid cancer. Thyroid inefficiency can cause severe symptoms in patients. Effective classification and machine learning play a significant role in the timely detection of thyroid diseases. This timely classification will indeed affect the timely treatment of the patients. Automatic and precise thyroid nodule detection in ultrasound pictures is critical for reducing effort and radiologists' mistake rate. Medical images have evolved into one of the most valuable and consistent data sources for machine learning generation. In this paper, various machine learning algorithms like decision tree, random forest algorithm, KNN, and artificial neural networks on the dataset create a comparative analysis to better predict the disease based on parameters established from the dataset. Also, the dataset has been manipulated for accurate prediction for the classification. The classification was performed on both the sampled and unsampled datasets for better comparison of the dataset. To assist cruise companies in designing the technic-economic specifications of "fly-cruise" products and attracting international tourists, this paper proposes a model of itinerary planning and dynamic pricing with advanced algorithm. We integrate the Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) to develop a hybrid algorithm to obtain the optimal solution of the model. Taking Malaysian consumers travelling to China for cruise tours as a case study, we empirically test the model with real market data and use it to analyze the impact of innovating "fly-cruise" products on the deficit of China's inbound and outbound tourists. The results show that the innovating "fly-cruise" products will attract 20.52 million Southeast Asian tourists to China annually and generate a profit of US$ 3.56 billion for cruise companies. It highlights that the advanced algorithm based "fly-cruise" products can help China to effectively reduce the deficit of inbound and outbound tourists and improve the international balance of service trade. Based on 130 climate signal indexes provided by National Climate Center of China, this paper established a decision tree diagnostic prediction model for Spring Kuroshio Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from 1961 to 2015 (65 years) by using Chi-Squared Automatic Interaction Detector (CHAID) algorithm in data mining and obtained five rule sets to determine whether Spring Kuroshio SST is high or not. Considering the data of the 44 years from 1961 to 2004 as the training set of the model and the other years as the test set, the training accuracy of the model can reach to 95.45% and the test accuracy can reach to 81.82%. Three types of Spring Kuroshio SST are different in intensity and distribution. The results show that the prediction model of Spring Kuroshio SST based on CHAID algorithm has a high prediction accuracy, with the reasonable and effective model and the well-thought-out decision rules. Moreover, based on the results of decision classification, the SST anomalies correspond to different distribution characteristics of summer daily precipitation anomalies in eastern China, which can provide a new idea and method for climate prediction of regional summer precipitation. We propose a mathematical model to solve the railway transit network design problem, considering the total time spent in the travel of all the passengers on the network as the optimization goal. The number of passengers to be transported, train accommodating capacity, station capacity, railway section capacity, and available train number is taken as the constraints in the model. Then, we design a heuristic algorithm - fuzzy plant growth simulation algorithm to solve the model. A computing case, based on the data of the railway network of part of East China is presented to prove the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm. With the rapid development of China's electrical industry, the safe operation of electrical facilities is very important for social stability and people's property safety. The failure detection method of conventional electrical equipment is hand detection, which has high experience of the detection person, lacks detection and error detection, and the detection efficiency is low. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, computer-assisted substation inspection is now possible, and substation inspection using an intelligent inspection robot equipped with an infrared device is one of the main substation inspection methods. In this paper, experiments are carried out using several neural network models. For example, if a faster region convolutional neural networks (RCNN) infrared detection model is employed, a good vg16 in the feature region of the extracted image takes into account the quality of the infrared image and the presence of multiple devices. Infrared images can be used to determine the basic features of various electronic devices. In order to detect targets in infrared images of electrical equipment, the fast RCNN target detection algorithm is used, and the overall recognition accuracy reaches 83.1%, and a good application effect is obtained. Firstly, a solution is proposed to solve the problem of low accuracy of general recommendation algorithm in brand goods. Collaborative filtering algorithm is used to analyze the visual communication design process of enterprise brand. Research on personalized image design according to consumers' trust and recognition of brand design is conducted. In traditional craft brand visual design, we mainly study the impact of image design on consumer behavior. The brand loyalty model is used to predict and analyze the visual design effect. Also, the user's evaluation coefficient is taken as the expression of brand visual design recognition. Finally, the collaborative filtering algorithm is optimized to improve the consumer similarity based on the original algorithm. The results show that the brand visual design using collaborative filtering algorithm can help enterprises obtain greater benefits in their own brand construction. The three-river headwaters region (TRHR) is the birthplace of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Lantsang River in China. Based on the grid surface precipitation data released by China Meteorological Administration (CMA), this paper evaluated the accuracy and error components of four near-real-time satellite precipitation products (GSMaP-NRT, GSMaP-MVK, IMERG-Early and IMERG-Late) in the era of a GPM (Global Precipitation Measurement) in TRHR. The conclusions are as follows: (1) The precipitation in TRHR is concentrated in the east and south, and the precipitation in the west is very low. IMERG (Early and Late) has a good spatial distribution of precipitation, while GSMaP has an obvious spatial smoothing of precipitation distribution, and does not better highlight the local precipitation characteristics. (2) The inversion accuracy of the satellite products is the best in the source region of the Lantsang River, followed by the source region of the Yellow River. The satellite products all show the lower correlation coefficient and serious underestimation of precipitation in the west of the TRHR. In addition, the closer to the west of the TRHR, the lower hit rate and the higher false alarm rate of the satellite products, especially the NRT and MVK products. In the eastern margin of the Yellow River headwater region and the Lantsang River headwater Region, RMSE and overestimated precipitation were higher in NRT and MVK, and FAR was higher in spite of higher POD and CSI. (3) The errors of GSMaP in the source region of the Yellow River and the Lantsang River are mainly caused by misreporting precipitation and overestimating the precipitation level, while the errors of GSMaP in the west of the TRHR are mainly caused by missing measurements of precipitation events. The underestimated precipitation of IMERG mainly comes from the missed measurement of precipitation and the underestimate of precipitation level, and there is no large false precipitation. (4) In addition, we found that the satellite products in the lake distribution area of the TRHR have serious missed precipitation errors, indicating that the GPM satellite products have the poor detection ability of precipitation near plateau lakes. On the whole, the precipitation inversion accuracy of IMERG (Early and Late) products is higher, which can better detect the occurrence of precipitation events, but the estimation of precipitation level is still not accurate. The precision of precipitation of satellite products near inland lakes on the plateau is poor, so the algorithm improvement of new products needs to be further solved in the future. Accurate predictions of the air quality index (AQI) is critical for pollution control and air quality warning. However, this is challenging because of the nonlinearity of data and the uncertainty between data relationships. This paper proposes a combinatorial model based on an improved adaptive dynamic particle swarm optimization (ADPSO) algorithm to optimize a bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU) neural network to predict AQI time series and capture data dependence. The ADPSO method incorporates a dynamic spatial search strategy into the standard particle swarm optimization method, allowing the parameters to be dynamically adjusted to balance global and local search capabilities, thus improving the performance and effectiveness of this optimization process. Compared to the BiGRU model, the PSO‐BiGRU model, and the radial basis neural,the results of the improved algorithm reveal that the root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of the ADPSO‐BiGRU predicted air pollution index are smaller than the errors of the other three models. The accuracy of the ADPSO‐BiGRU prediction model is higher than that of the other models, and it aids in the development of effective regional air quality management policies to reduce the negative impacts of pollution. This paper proposes the nonnegative adaptive elastic-net for simultaneous nonnegative estimation and variable selection in sparse high-dimensional linear regression models. By inheriting the good features of adaptive elastic-net, the nonnegative adaptive elastic-net enjoys the oracle property even in high-dimensional settings where the dimension of covariates can be much larger than the sample size. Through the simulation, we show that the newly proposed method deals with the collinearity problem better than alternative procedures in the literature. To make the proposed method practically feasible, we extend the multiplicative updates algorithm for implementation. The COVID-19 pandemic has strongly affected education in China, even if education departments and corresponding schools took a series of measures to manage online education of the school's new semester in China, including maneuver, learning platform allocation, and teacher training. In this paper, edge computing is used to optimize online education, and a task offloading algorithm is designed to minimize the computing delay of terminal tasks. Through preparation, practice, and reflection of this online education, this study aims to comprehensively demonstrate the learning condition of online education in China and present the real adjustment impact based on the problems encountered during the process. Although several schools gradually reopened to students in 3 months, several improvements are warranted in various ways. Background: Standardized coding of plays an important role in radiology reports' secondary use such as data analytics, data-driven decision support, and personalized medicine. RadLex, a standard radiological lexicon, can reduce subjective variability and improve clarity in radiology reports. RadLex coding of radiology reports is widely used in many countries, but translation and localization of RadLex in China are far from being established. Although automatic RadLex coding is a common way for non-standard radiology reports, the high-accuracy cross-language RadLex coding is hardly achieved due to the limitation of up-to-date auto-translation and text similarity algorithms and still requires further research.Methods: We present an effective approach that combines a hybrid translation and a Multilayer Perceptron weighting text similarity ensemble algorithm for automatic RadLex coding of Chinese structured radiology reports. Firstly, a hybrid way to integrate Google neural machine translation and dictionary translation helps to optimize the translation of Chinese radiology phrases to English. The dictionary is made up of 21,863 Chinese-English radiological term pairs extracted from several free medical dictionaries. Secondly, four typical text similarity algorithms are introduced, which are Levenshtein distance, Jaccard similarity coefficient, Word2vec Continuous bag-of-words model, and WordNet Wup similarity algorithms. Lastly, the Multilayer Perceptron model has been used to synthesize the contextual, lexical, character and syntactical information of four text similarity algorithms to promote precision, in which four similarity scores of two terms are taken as input and the output presents whether the two terms are synonyms.Results: The results show the effectiveness of the approach with an F1-score of 90.15%, a precision of 91.78% and a recall of 88.59%. The hybrid translation algorithm has no negative effect on the final coding, F1-score has increased by 21.44% and 8.12% compared with the GNMT algorithm and dictionary translation. Compared with the single similarity, the result of the MLP weighting similarity algorithm is satisfactory that has a 4.48% increase compared with the best single similarity algorithm, WordNet Wup.Conclusions: The paper proposed an innovative automatic cross-language RadLex coding approach to solve the standardization of Chinese structured radiology reports, that can be taken as a reference to automatic cross-language coding. Multiscale brings great benefits for people to observe objects or problems from different perspectives. Multiscale clustering has been widely studied in various disciplines. However, most of the research studies are only for the numerical dataset, which is a lack of research on the clustering of nominal dataset, especially the data are nonindependent and identically distributed (Non-IID). Aiming at the current research situation, this paper proposes a multiscale clustering framework based on Non-IID nominal data. Firstly, the benchmark-scale dataset is clustered based on coupled metric similarity measure. Secondly, it is proposed to transform the clustering results from benchmark scale to target scale that the two algorithms are named upscaling based on single chain and downscaling based on Lanczos kernel, respectively. Finally, experiments are performed using five public datasets and one real dataset of the Hebei province of China. This paper presents a hierarchical PageRank algorithm, which is convenient for parallel calculation, is proposed to calculate the importance of urban train stations in China, and the probability of inverse order coefficients is introduced. It is used to measure the difference between the PageRank ranking of urban train stations and the urban GDP ranking. The smaller the reverse order coefficient, the smaller the difference between the two rankings. The paper considers the design of a multimodal and multilayer inbound logistics network for iron ore to be delivered from suppliers to steel plants. To make cost-efficient logistics and transportation planning decisions, steel companies should account for uncertainty in the demand for iron ore and the economies of scale during transshipment process in the port, which are two critical elements affecting decisions. To this end, we propose a two-stage nonlinear stochastic programming model with the first stage determining the choice of the port to perform transshipment operations and the needed capacity, and the second stage selecting transportation modes after demand uncertainty has been realized. To solve this problem, we first reformulate and linearize the model based on a quantity discount policy applied to the transshipment ports, and then, we develop a scenario-based decomposition algorithm. We conduct a case study based on the data of a steel company in China to illustrate the applicability of our proposed model. Background: As a common social phenomenon, nurses' occupational burnout has a high incidence rate, which seriously affects their mental health and nursing level. The current assessment mostly uses the total score model and explores the influence of external factors on burnout, while the correlation between burnout items or dimensions is less explored. Ignoring the correlation between the items or dimensions may result in a limited understanding of nurse occupational burnout. This paper explores the item and dimension network structure of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) in Chinese nurses, so as to gain a deeper understanding of this psychological construct and identify potential targets for clinical intervention. Methods: A total of 493 Chinese nurses were recruited by cluster sampling. All participants were invited to complete the survey on symptoms of burnout. Network analysis was used to investigate the item network of MBI-GS. In addition, community detection was used to explore the communities of MBI-GS, and then network analysis was used to investigate the dimension network of MBI-GS based on the results of community detection. Regularized partial correlation and non-regularized partial correlation were used to describe the association between different nodes of the item network and dimension network, respectively. Expected influence and predictability were used to describe the relative importance and the controllability of nodes in both the item and dimension networks. Results: In the item network, most of the strongly correlated edges were in the same dimension of emotional exhaustion (E), cynicism (C) and reduced professional efficacy (R), respectively. E5 (Item 5 of emotional exhaustion, the same below) "I feel burned out from my work", C1 "I have become more callous toward work since I took this job", and R3 "In my opinion, I am good at my job" had the highest expected influence (z-scores = 0.99, 0.81 and 0.94, respectively), indicating theirs highest importance in the network. E1 "I feel emotionally drained from my work" and E5 had the highest predictability (E1 = 0.74, E5 = 0.74). It shows that these two nodes can be interpreted by their internal neighbors to the greatest extent and have the highest controllability in the network. The spinglass algorithm and walktrap algorithm obtained exactly the same three communities, which are consistent with the original dimensions of MBI-GS. In the dimension network, the emotional exhaustion dimension was closely related to the cynicism dimension (weight = 0.65). Conclusions: The network model is a useful tool to study burnout in Chinese nurses. This study explores the item and domain network structure of nurse burnout from the network perspective. By calculating the relevant indicators, we found that E5, C1, and R3 were the most central nodes in the item network and cynicism was the central node in the domain network, suggesting that interventions aimed at E5, C1, R3 and cynicism might decrease the overall burnout level of Chinese nurses to the greatest extent. In seismic data processing, low-frequency random noise with non-Gaussian and non-stationary characteristics heavily contaminates the reflected signals in Tarim area, which brings great difficulties in interpretation of seismic records in northwest China. To achieve more satisfied resolution, more greater fidelity, together with much higher increased signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), this paper proposes a SNR enhancement method based on the combination of variational mode decomposition (VMD) and Semi-soft Go Decomposition (Semi-Soft GoDec), named VMD-SSGoDec, which can realize the simplification of low-rank extraction in time–frequency representation (TFR) domain. Firstly, each trace of the rough seismic record is decomposed into several modes to reconstruct a component matrix by VMD. Due to the semi-low rank or approximate low-rank character of the desert low-frequency noise component matrix in TFR domain, secondly, we apply the Semi-soft GoDec, a low-rank matrix estimation to extract the low-frequency random noise components from the VMD results obtained in the first step. Repeating the above single-trace procedure to each trace rather than decomposing the entire record but use low-rank estimation once can lead to a more reduced dimension of the component matrix, and thus simplify the low-rank selection in Semi-soft GoDec. Finally, with the extracted random noise results in the second step, we can obtain the denoised record by making a difference with the original input. The proposed algorithm is tested by both synthetic record and field desert seismic data. Experimental results show outstanding advantages in low-frequency noise attenuation comparing with those of f-x deconvolution and SSWT-OptShrink. Both low-frequency random noise and surface waves are almost thoroughly attenuated by the proposed method, while the reflected signals are left nearly intact, revealing a significant enhancement in SNR. Artificial upwelling (AU) is widely recognized as a geoengineering tool to enhance oceanic fertility and stimulate the earth's capability of self-healing. Several air-lifted AU systems have been established to promote seaweed growth and facilitate carbon sequestration, for instance, in Norway and China. However, few researchers have addressed the critical issue of optimizing the layout of the underwater nozzle array (UNA), a key component of the air-lifted AU system. In this paper, we propose a novel method to optimize the layout of UNA by introducing and improving the discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO) algorithm to guide the optimal nozzle positions. Furthermore, we develop the nutrient transport efficiency model to evaluate the performance of the AU system and apply it to investigate a typical AU system, namely the one in Aoshan Bay, China. Our results demonstrate that the proposed DPSO algorithm outperforms the conventional particle swarm optimization algorithm and the nutrient transport efficiency under the optimized UNA layouts was improved by an average of 14.5% to 35.0% compared to randomly generated layouts. The medical grid including hospitals at all levels is a new hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system. It is assumed to provide health services for residents in a certain area, allowing free referral of patients, so as to effectively utilize medical resources. Therefore, from the perspective of the government, the key issue is how to divide the medical grid in a robust and balanced manner. In this paper, various deterministic factors, such as hospital level, location and department, as well as uncertain factors, including patient distribution or population density, are considered in decision-making. To solve this problem, a dual-clustering algorithm based on K-means and K-medoids (DCKK) is developed with local search methods to minimize the average patient waiting and travelling time. The experimental results show that DCKK algorithm can generate better and more robust grid partition solutions than the existing mainstream algorithms in different scenarios. In addition, the rules between the number of medical grids and the number of patients, as well as the hospital sharing between medical grids, are also studied. Cage farming is the mainstream farming mode in China. Accurate individual identification and behavioral detection of caged chickens can provide managers with a better understanding of chicken status. However, for image detection of caged chickens, the cage may affect the accuracy of the detection algorithm. For this reason, CCD (caged chicken defencing), a defencing algorithm based on U-Net and pix2pixHD, was proposed to improve caged chickens' detection accuracy. The proposed defencing algorithm can accurately identify the cage wire mesh and recover the chicken contours completely. In the test set, the detection accuracy of the cage wire mesh was 94.71%, while a structural similarity (SSIM) of 90.04% and a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 25.24 dB were obtained in the image recovery. To verify the practicality of the method proposed in this paper, we analyzed the performance of the object detection algorithm before and after defencing from the perspective of the most basic individual detection in the caged chicken detection task. We validated the defencing algorithm with different YOLOv5 detection algorithms, including YOLOv5s, YOLOv5m, YOLOv5l, and YOLOv5x. The experimental results showed that the defencing algorithm improved the detection precision of caged chickens by 16.1%, 12.1%, 7.3%, and 5.4%, respectively, compared with before defencing. The recall improvement was 29.1%, 16.4%, 8.5%, and 6.8%. To our knowledge, this is the first time that a deep learning-based defencing algorithm has been applied to caged chickens, and the detection accuracy can be significantly improved. The results show that the grounding methods of solid-bonding with intermediate grounding points and solid-bonding with semiconducting sheath are more promising than the conventional solid-bonding grounding method for the long submarine cable system due to the reduction in the induced voltage of metallic sheath as well as lower power loss. In this paper, we consider permutation manipulations by any subset of women in the men-proposing version of the Gale-Shapley algorithm. This paper is motivated by the college admissions process in China. Our results also answer an open problem on what can be achieved by permutation manipulations. We present an efficient algorithm to find a strategy profile such that the induced matching is stable and Pareto-optimal (in the set of all achievable stable matchings) while the strategy profile itself is inconspicuous. Surprisingly, we show that such a strategy profile actually forms a Nash equilibrium of the manipulation game. In the end, we show that it is NP-complete to find a manipulation that is strictly better for all members of the coalition. • A novel rockburst prediction framework is raised based on microseismic monitoring and machine learning. • An integrated CNN-Adam-BO algorithm is proposed to recognize the microseismic sequence. • A field rockburst risk warning system is demonstrated. • Compared to BPNN, SVM, and two benchmark models, the CNN-Adam-BO model is the most superior. Rockburst is a dynamic geological disaster common during underground excavation, which significantly threatens the safety of personnel, equipment, and property. This paper proposes an integrated CNN-Adam-BO algorithm based on microseismic monitoring data to achieve real-time prediction of rockburst intensity. A total of 400 rockburst cases were collected from a water conveyance tunnel in northwestern China, including 100 no rockbursts, 252 low rockbursts, and 48 moderate rockbursts. During modeling, adaptive moment estimation optimization and Bayes optimization were separately used to tune the CNN network hyper-parameters (i.e., convolution kernels and bias) as well as dropout probability, and a parametric analysis was carried out to optimize the CNN structure and training parameters (i.e., the CNN architecture, the number of kernels in the convolutional layer, the number of neurons in the full connection layer, and the number of training epochs). To assess model performance, 2 global metrics (i.e., accuracy and Kappa) and 3 within-class metrics (i.e., precision, recall, and F 1 -score) were introduced. Additionally, a comparison analysis with other machine learning models, such as a back-propagation neural network, a support vector machine, and two CNN-based benchmark models, was conducted in regard to prediction ability and running speed. Results show that the CNN-Adam-BO model is the most superior, which achieved an accuracy of 91.67%, Kappa of 0.8392, F 1 -score of 0.8750, 0.9474, and 0.8333 (on no/low/moderate rockburst), and running time of 190.12 s. Taking 2 extra rockburst cases as examples, a complete workflow for how to apply the constructed model to construct a field rockburst risk warning system was illustrated. Further, the effect of data quality, especially data imbalance, on model performance was discussed, indicating that the synthetic minority oversampling technique is an effective way to eliminate data imbalance. Finally, superiority of the dimension enhancement method of the microseismic sequence described in this paper was verified via comparison with the continuous wavelet transform and cross wavelet transform. The coordinated control systems (CCS) in ultra-supercritical thermal power unit, like many other industrial systems, is a complex multivariable system with severe nonlinearity, strong multivariable coupling and uncertainties. In order to meet the requirements of operational stability, economy. etc in ultra-supercritical unit, it is necessary to establish its accurate mathematical model and further design the advanced controller. Against this background, a new fuzzy neural network modeling method is proposed in this paper. First of all, the incremental model is considered separately to improve the rationality of the local linear model structure. Then, the parameters in antecedent part is initialized by a kernel k -means++ algorithm, in which Xie-Beni index is used to optimize the number of fuzzy rules. Finally, supervised adaptive gradient descent algorithm and artificial immune particle swarm optimization algorithm work in stages to complete the training of the consequent part parameters. The proposed modeling method in this paper is applied to a 1000 MW unit in China and shows satisfactory accuracy. In the established model, the MSE of power output, main steam pressure and separator outlet steam temperature are 0.0099, 1.21E-4, 0.0023, respectively. • A data-assimilation method has been proposed for the burnup distribution. • The three-dimensional variational algorithm and artificial neutral network algorithm were applied. • The data-assimilation method has been applied to PWR operated in China. In this paper, a data-assimilation method has been proposed and applied for the burnup distribution of PWR. The burnup distribution is significant for the safety and economy of the reactor, as it is essential for the fuel-reloading design and optimization. Due to the fact that the burnup distribution cannot be measured directly during the reactor operation, the numerical simulation is widely applied in reactor engineering. However, there definitely exist differences between the numerical simulation and the actual core due to some unavoidable factors, such as component manufacturing deviation, uneven flow distribution and so on. These differences would induce the errors to the simulation values of power distributions and hence to the burnup distributions. Therefore, a data-assimilation method for the burnup distribution has been proposed, aiming at reducing the burnup-distribution errors with application of the power-distribution measurements. In our research, the three-dimensional variational (3DVAR) algorithm was applied for burnup-distribution calibration and the artificial neutral network (ANN) algorithm was applied to establish the complex relations between burnup distribution and power distribution. As engineering verification, the proposed data-assimilation method has been applied to the CNP1000 PWR operated in China. The numerical results indicated that the burnup-distribution errors can be reduced notably, as the maximum value of relative errors for power distribution can be reduced from 9.53% to 5.11%. To accurately evaluate the development level of ecological civilization in coastal cities, this paper proposes an evaluation algorithm of coastal city ecological civilization development based on Improved BP neural network, constructs the evaluation index system, and establishes the BP neural network-based evaluation model. By collecting the relevant data of 30 cities in China Line standardization, as the input learning matrix, entropy and coefficient of variation are used to evaluate the development level of ecological civilization. Through 5000 training times, the error accuracy is close to 10–7, and the cities with low ecological civilization level and less cultivated land resources per capita are found out. Based on the improved BP neural network method, according to the development level of coastal cities, the ecological culture of coastal cities is put forward as a whole. An outbreak of Ulva prolifera poses a massive threat to coastal ecology in the Southern Yellow Sea, China (SYS). It is a necessity to extract its area and monitor its development accurately. At present, Ulva prolifera monitoring by remote sensing imagery is mostly based on a fixed threshold or artificial visual interpretation for threshold selection, which has large errors. In this paper, an adaptive threshold model based on Google Earth Engine (GEE) is proposed and applied to extract U. prolifera in the SYS. The model first applies the Floating Algae Index (FAI) or Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) algorithm on the preprocessed remote sensing images and then uses the Canny Edge Filter and Otsu threshold segmentation algorithm to extract the threshold automatically. The model is applied to Landsat8/OLI and Sentinel-2/MSI images, and the confusion matrix and cross-sensor comparison are used to evaluate the accuracy and applicability of the model. The verification results show that the model extraction of U. prolifera based on the FAI algorithm has higher accuracy (R2 = 0.99, RMSE = 5.64) and better robustness. However, when the average cloud cover is more than 70% in the image (based on the statistical results of multi-year cloud cover information), the model based on the NDVI algorithm has better applicability and can extract the algae distributed at the edge of the cloud. When the model uses the FAI algorithm, it is named FAI-COM (model based on FAI, the Canny Edge Filter, and Otsu thresholding). And when the model uses the NDVI algorithm, it is named NDVI-COM (model based on NDVI, the Canny Edge Filter, and Otsu thresholding). Therefore, the final extraction results are generated by supplementing NDVI-COM results on the basis of FAI-COM extraction results in this paper. The F1-score of U. prolifera extracted results is above 0.85. The spatiotemporal distribution of U. prolifera in the South Yellow Sea from 2016 to 2020 is obtained through the model calculation. Overall, the coverage area of U. prolifera shows a decreasing trend over the five years. It is found that the delay in recovery time of Porphyra yezoensis culture facilities in the Northern Jiangsu Shoal and the manual salvage and cleaning-up of U. prolifera in May are among the reasons for the smaller interannual scale of algae in 2017 and 2018. Under the reliability consideration of the multi-energy system, more and more regional networks are in meshed topology. This paper presents a novel method for the regional meshed power–gas system based on the reformulated and tightened cone relaxations. The proposed model defines two energy flows, which are relaxed as convex constraints in the optimization. In the power network, considering the phase angle of each node in meshed networks, a series of conic relaxation-based constraints are employed to represent the alternating current power flow. In the gas network, the conic relaxations are imposed with convex hulls and cones to the gas flow, taking the transmission directions and line-pack constraints into account. To enhance the quality of the relaxation, we propose an approach to tighten the feasible region through two steps. The first step is to tighten the lower and upper bounds of the variables through an optimality-based linear program. The second step is to solve the relaxed tightened optimization with new bounds through a mixed-integer second-order cone program. Waste sorting is an imperative and significant issue in China, of which sorted-waste collection and transportation are indispensable parts. Despite its vital yet practical significance, few studies research mathematical models or algorithms of waste collection and transportation from the perspective of waste sorting. To address this issue, we extend a novel transportation model for the waste management system, namely, capacitated location routing problem with queuing time (CLRPQT) and design a cross-entropy and simulated-annealing based hyper-heuristic algorithm (CE-SAHH) for it. The main idea of this paper is three-fold: (1) As a particular property of this problem, source nodes cannot but need to be served by more than one vehicle that causes queuing time between a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles, which is novel in terms of the proposed model; (2) For the methodological contribution, a character encoding scheme, new decoding procedure, and local search strategy are designed embedded in the proposed method; (3) An integration of simulated annealing strategy and the cross-entropy-based hyper-heuristic algorithm is developed to overcome the combinatorial optimization problem with a more complex solution of this study. Natural gas, an efficient, eco-friendly and clean green energy, has become one of the important energy structures of various countries in the world, accurately predicting the production of natural gas can help the national energy agency solve "gas shortage" problem. To accurately predict natural gas production in China, this paper establishes an optimized grey system model with weighted fractional accumulation generation operation (abbreviated as WFNGBM(1,1,N)). The proposed model has all the advantages of the GMP(1,1,N) model, NGBM(1,1) model and weighted fractional accumulation generation operation, which makes it have excellent prediction performance. Moreover, five outstanding intelligent optimization algorithms (whale optimization algorithm, marine predators algorithm, grasshopper optimization algorithm, equilibrium optimization algorithm and arithmetic optimization algorithm) are used to solve the hyperparameters of the WFNGBM(1,1,N) model. It is found that the WFNGBM(1,1,N) model has the characteristics of convertibility and small sample modeling, which indicates that it is a small sample prediction model with strong compatibility. After confirming the feasibility of the proposed model compared with its competing models by using natural gas production in Germany, Italy and Canada as examples, the proposed model is used to study China's natural gas production. The results show that this model is very suitable for predicting and analyzing natural gas production in China. The objective and accurate prediction of energy consumption can supply an important reference and advance indicator for government to implement economic policies and energy development strategy. On account of the complexity and uncertainty of the energy system, this paper establishes a novel flexible grey multivariable model by introducing a power exponential term, a linear correct term and a random disturbance term. The novel model has the advantages in capturing the dynamic characteristics of the energy system, also it can be compatible with eight existing grey models when some parameters are assigned certain values. Additionally, to further promote the prediction performance of the novel model, the grey wolf optimizer is employed to determine the power indexes of the model. To demonstrate its performance, the proposed model is utilized to predict the energy consumption of three major provinces in China, and the fitting and prediction results of the novel model are compared with those provided by diversified competing models. The results illustrated that the novel model is superior to other competing models, offering more accurate and better performance. In recent years, the integration of distributed photovoltaic has witnessed explosive growth because of its great economic and environmental benefits. However, the intermittence and randomicity of PV power generation are challenging the stable and economic operation of active distribution system, especially when the local historical and forecasting meteorological data are not available. Thus, this paper presents a novel Gated Recurrent Unit based hybrid model for forecasting distributed PV power generations. The proposed method uses locally historical PV power generation data to forecast one-day-ahead solar power time series with five-minute intervals. First, a linear components extraction method is proposed to identify the daily fluctuating patterns of the solar power series. Then, temporal distributed Gated Recurrent Unit models are developed based on the detected daily fluctuating patterns of the PV power generation. A scenarios generation algorithm is proposed to provide forecasting linear trend data for each Gated Recurrent Unit model. Finally, the daily linear series scenarios, the linear and nonlinear parts of the historical data are fed into the Gated Recurrent Unit to forecast the PV generation. Data collected from an actual distributed PV farm in southeastern China are utilized to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model. The results show that the proposed model can provide a nominalized root mean square error of 6.83% and a nominalized mean absolute error of 4.12%. However, in practice, two main factors obstruct the application of the satellite images: 1) the relatively low update frequency of the satellite images mismatches the photovoltaic power forecasting frequency, and 2) the cloud region that blocks the sunlight changes significantly with time. In this paper, a novel satellite image-based approach for photovoltaic power forecast is proposed to overcome these obstacles and achieve accurate forecasting results. Firstly, concerning the hourly updated satellite images, a nonlinear cloud movement forecasting model, considering the thickness and shape changes of the cloud, is presented to forecast the hourly variation of the images. Secondly, an active cloud region selection rule is derived based on the changing solar position to dynamically select the cloud region that blocks the concerned photovoltaic power station in a satellite image. Thirdly, a sequential cloud region selection algorithm is provided to estimate the intra-hour variation of the cloud to match the photovoltaic power forecasting frequency. Finally, the photovoltaic power is predicted using the XGBoost algorithm concerning the effects of the cloud and other influencing factors. Testing results show that the proposed method can achieve more accurate photovoltaic power forecasts using the low update frequency satellite images. Meanwhile, the superior performance compared with other benchmarks also verifies the effectiveness of considering cloud information obtained by the proposed method for photovoltaic power forecast. In this paper, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and chemometric algorithms were employed collectively to quantify chlorpyrifos (CP) residues in rice samples. The SERS spectra from different concentrations (0.01–1000 μg/mL) of CP were collected using AgNPs-deposited-ZnO nanoflower (NFs)-like nanoparticles (Ag@ZnO NFs) SERS sensor. Four quantitative chemometric models for CP were comparatively studied, and the competitive adaptive reweighted sampling-partial least squares model achieved the best prediction and practical applicability for predicting CP levels with a limit of detection of 0.01 µg/mL. The results of the student's t -test showed no significant difference between this method and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and good relative standard deviation (RSD) indicated that this method could be used for the detection of CP in rice. In this paper two different geophysical electro-magnetic techniques, long-offset time domain EM and the magnetotelluric method, are jointly inverted using a variation of Bayesian inversion called Hybrid Monte-Carlo. Long-offset time domain EM is a method that records Earth response to a controlled source square wave signal, while the magnetotelluric method records Earth response to naturally occurring electro-magnetic signals. We obtain better understanding of subsurface resistivity structures because the information they provide is complementary and joint inversion reduces the set of permissible inversion models. In most situations where long-offset time domain EM is recorded magnetotelluric data is also collected, since receiver instrumentation is shared. Hybrid Monte Carlo uses the gradient of the forward model to enable larger jumps through the solution space than are permissible using the standard Metropolis-Hastings algorithm, avoiding the pitfall of random walk behavior and giving faster convergence. The method is successfully applied to a survey area near the edge of Wuhan China. We obtain inversion results in a highly urbanized area, where the magnetotelluric method is typically compromised by background electro-magnetic noise. • HMC reduces random walks and gives faster convergence. • The joint-inversion of MT and LOTEM combines complimentary EM responses. • Problems with difficult combinations of conductors and resistor would benefit. • This is the first joint inversion of EM data using HMC. The reservoir rocks in the volcanic strata of the Jilin oil field are characterized by great complexity and diversity in composition and structure of lithology. To enhance the rate of lithology identification in subsurface is very laborious. However, lithology identification is often ignored in quantitative studies, though it is the basis for reservoir characterization. In this paper, an ensemble learning algorithm named gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) was used to establish the classification model for the volcanic lithology identification of the Lower Cretaceous Yingcheng Formation in the Songliao Basin, NE China. At the same time, support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR) and decision tree (DT) classification models were also adopted in contrast with the classification accuracy of GBDT model. Subsequently, the optimal key parameters for each model were determined by employing validation curves and GridSearchCv. These results indicate that the GBDT model is superior to the single classifier and can accurately distinguish the lithologic interface of breccia tuff and rhyolite. Moreover, it also has better recognition ability for thin layer. • A short-term reservoir optimal operation considering water propagation was proposed in this paper. • NPOA was applied to the short-term cascade reservoirs optimal operation. • The rationality and feasibility of the model and algorithm were verified. Difficulty remains to represent water propagation impact to construct water balance constraints for the Short-Term Cascade Reservoirs Optimal Operation (SCROO), due to the complex water propagation mechanism existing between cascade reservoirs. The imprecise representation of water propagation impact hinders the implementation of hydropower generation schemes and leads to operational risks. Thus, a modified SCROO model considering water propagation impact was proposed in this study to improve the accuracy of cascade operation. Specifically, water propagation is expressed using the Muskingum method in the modified SCROO model, and characterized by two variables, including propagation time related to the magnitude of the upstream reservoir's outflow and flow attenuation related to the propagation time, which were identified using the successive approximation method under water balance constraints within the modified SCROO model. Subsequently, this research applied the Nested Progressive Optimality Algorithm (NPOA) in the model calculation innovatively, in which the stage benefit function and nest computation could be improved. The modified model and algorithm developed herein were applied and validated on cascade reservoirs along the Yalung River in China by comparing it with traditional methods and algorithms. The results show that: 1) Compared to traditional methods, considering water propagation within water balance constraints as a dynamic parameter can calculate the inflow of downstream reservoir more accurately and mitigate risks in the actual operation of cascade reservoirs. Besides, the reservoir inflow calculated by traditional methods will lead to different magnitudes of benefit loss; and 2) the NPOA can significantly reduce dimensionality problems caused by the water propagation impact and greatly improve the actual hydropower generation than that of a traditional optimal algorithm, Multi-Stage Dynamic Programming (MSDP). Compared to the MSDP, the NOPA is more applicable in a cascade system with a larger number of reservoirs. • The newly developed two-phase model class selection algorithm for void detection is firstly proposed. • The time-domain Bayesian model updating is successfully conducted for the CA void detection of the ballastless slab track by determining the most probable values (MPVs) of mortar stiffness scaling factors. • Not only the void location but also the severity of CA mortar are detected for ballastless slab track. This paper reports the feasibility study on the use of measured vibration of a railway slab track system in detecting void on the cement-emulsified asphalt (CA) mortar layer utilizing the Bayesian approach. By following the specification of the China Railway Track System (CRTS)-I ballastless slab track structure, two scaled models (with and without void in the CA mortar layer) were built and tested in the laboratory to demonstrate and verify the proposed CA void detection methodology. A three-dimensional finite element model was built using ABAQUS to calculate the time-domain data of the ballastless track system for Bayesian model class selection and model updating. A new two-phase model class selection algorithm was developed for identifying the CA void region. The proposed methodology identified the distribution of CA mortar stiffness using impact hammer test data from the scaled CRTS-I ballastless slab panel under laboratory conditions. The model updating results are consistent with the simulated CA mortar stiffness distribution. In addition, the posterior uncertainties of the identified CA mortar stiffness under different sensor configurations were quantitatively investigated. The results from the experimental case studies show that the proposed Bayesian methodology is feasible to detect CA void even with only a single accelerometer with the associated posterior uncertainties being kept at an acceptable level. In order to improve the accuracy of the multiple load forecasting of a regional integrated energy system, a short-term multiple load forecasting model based on the quantum weighted GRU and multi-task learning framework is proposed in this paper. Firstly, correlation analysis is carried out using a maximum information coefficient to select the input of the model. Then, a multi-task learning architecture is constructed based on the quantum weighted GRU neural network, and the coupling information among multiple loads is learned through the sharing layer in order to improve the prediction accuracy of multiple loads. Finally, the PSO algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the quantum weighted GRU. The simulation data of a regional integrated energy system in northern China are used to predict the power and cooling loads on summer weekdays and rest days, and the results show that, compared with the LSTM, GRU and single task learning QWGRU models, the proposed model is more effective in the multiple load forecasting of a regional integrated energy system. • A new ET model (SW_OPT) integrates the SW and the Ts-VI model using PSO. • E, T and ET from SW_OPT were validated in a typical irrigated area of China. • SW_OPT calculates ET and its components with high accuracy. • SW_OPT is significantly more accurate compared to SW_Ori. • SW_OPT has low sensitivity to most of input and empirical parameters. Daily actual evapotranspiration (ET) and its components – soil evaporation (E) and vegetation transpiration (T) – play a key role in water resource management of irrigated areas. Nevertheless, due to large uncertainties in the parameterization of the resistances in irrigated areas, traditional ET models do not always provide accurate ET estimates, especially for its components. This uncertainty is mainly due to the difficulty of determining the empirical parameters accurately of soil and canopy resistances which is debated for a long time and the error in input variables. This paper proposed an optimized Shuttleworth-Wallace model (SW) using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to integrate the original SW with the surface temperature-vegetation index (Ts-VI) triangle models (named Shuttleworth & Wallace_Temperature Vegetation Index model, SW_TVI).The performance of the SW_TVI model was significantly improved by optimizing the soil and canopy resistances in the original SW model using discontinuous regional ET estimates from the Ts-VI model under clear-sky conditions. Compared with the original SW model, the root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute deviation (MAD) of the SW_TVI model were reduced by more than 30%, against in situ measurements in the Heihe River Basin. The Bias of the T/ET ratio was also significantly reduced from -22.3% for the original SW model to -5.5% for the SW_TVI model. The annual contributions of E and T to ET were about 20% and 80%, respectively, and had a strong seasonal variation in the typical irrigated area of China. In summary, the SW_TVI model shows three outstanding advantages: (1) it estimates daily continuous E, T, and total ET with high accuracy; (2) it is very robust and insensitive or slightly sensitive to most input variables and empirical parameters; (3) it is independent from ground data. Hydrological variable frequency analysis is a fundamental task for water resource management and water conservancy project design. Given the deficiencies of higher distribution features for the upper tail section of hydrological variable frequency curves and the corresponding safer resulting design of water conservancy projects utilizing the empirical frequency formula and Pearson type III function-based curve fitting method, the normal cloud transform algorithm-based model for hydrological variable frequency analysis was proposed through estimation of the sample empirical frequency by the normal cloud transform algorithm, and determining the cumulative probability distribution curve by overlapping calculation of multiple conceptual cloud distribution patterns, which is also the primary innovation of the paper. Its application result in northern Anhui province, China indicated that the varying trend of the cumulative probability distribution curve of annual precipitation derived from the proposed approach was basically consistent with the result obtained through the traditional empirical frequency formula. Furthermore, the upper tail section of the annual precipitation frequency curve derived from the cloud transform algorithm varied below the calculation result utilizing the traditional empirical frequency formula, which indicated that the annual precipitation frequency calculation result utilizing the cloud transform algorithm was more optimal compared to the results obtained by the traditional empirical frequency formula. Therefore, the proposed cloud transform algorithm-based model was reliable and effective for hydrological variable frequency analysis, which can be further applied in the related research field of hydrological process analysis. • Applicability of the Witczak 1-40D model was evaluated. • Artificial intelligence model was employed to correct the inaccuracy of the Witczak 1-40D model. • Adaptive inertia weight and the Levy flight method were combined in BAS algorithm. The applicability of the widely used Witczak model was evaluated for the first time regarding the asphalt mixtures produced in the East part of China. 16 asphalt mixtures by 2 binders and 8 aggregate gradations were designed and the dynamic modulus testing was performed under various loading temperatures and frequencies. The results obtained are similar to previous studies from different countries (areas): the dynamic modulus of the asphalt mixture in the low-temperature region is overestimated. So then, a hybrid artificial intelligence algorithm to replace the traditional Witcazak model is implemented in this paper to correct the overestimation, using the same input parameters in the Witczak model. A modified beetle antennae search (BAS) algorithm was proposed in this study to improve the searching efficiency in the random forest (RF) model. The calculation process showed fast convergence and higher efficiency. The comparative results between the predicted and actual dynamic modulus showed higher prediction accuracy at all the temperature and frequency ranges, overcoming the weaknesses of the traditional Witczak model. The variable importance results showed that G* and phase angle of the binders have the greatest impact on the dynamic modulus. Pseudolite deployment is the premise of ground-based pseudolite system networking, which affects the coverage and positioning accuracy of ground-based pseudolite systems. Optimal deployment algorithms can help to achieve a higher signal coverage and lower mean horizontal precision factor (HDOP) with a limited number of pseudolites. In this paper, we proposed a multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm for the deployment of a ground-based pseudolite system. The new algorithm combines Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data and uses the mean HDOP of the DEM grid to measure the geometry of the pseudolite system. The signal coverage of the pseudolite system was calculated based on the visual area analysis with respect to reference planes, which effectively avoids the repeated calculation of the intersection and improves the calculation efficiency. A selected area covering 10 km×10 km in the Jiuzhaigou area of China was used to verify the new algorithm. The results showed that both the coverage and HDOP achieved were optimal using the new algorithm, where the coverage area can be up to approximately 50% and 30% more than using the existing particle swarm optimization (PSO) and convex polyhedron volume optimization (CPVO) algorithms, respectively.
