Advances in computer image recognition have significantly impacted many industries, including healthcare, security and autonomous systems. This paper aims to explore the potential of improving image algorithms to enhance computer image recognition. Specifically, we will focus on regression methods as a means to improve the accuracy and efficiency of identifying images. In this study, we will analyze various regression techniques and their applications in computer image recognition, as well as the resulting performance improvements through detailed examples and data analysis. This paper deals with the problems related to visual image processing in outdoor unstructured environment. Finally, the heterogeneous patterns are converted into the same pattern, and the heterogeneous patterns are extracted from the fusion features of data modes. We have recently witnessed the rapid development of several emerging technologies, including the internet of things, which lead to a high interest in wireless sensor networks. Tiny sensor nodes are now important parts of a large number of complex systems, with numerous applications, including military, environment monitoring, and surveillance and body area sensor networks. A wireless sensor network builds the core part for IoT. Besides this, lifetime maximization is the biggest challenge in the wireless sensor network. Also, In a wireless sensor network, it is difficult to find an optimal node deployment approach that would minimize costs, be robust to node failures, decrease computing overhead and communication, and maintain a high degree of coverage and network connectivity. There is numerous literature addressed this challenge which is discussed in this paper; still there are lot many challenges yet to be addressed. Considering this scenario, in this paper, we propose a scheduled-based node deployment algorithm using Firefly Optimization (FA) to offer a circumstance where we have a group of target points that satisfy p-coverage and sensor nodes that satisfy q-connectivity, with subject to the selection of the optimal number of a sensor node that has the highest energy and minimum distance. The multiple parameters as no. of sensor nodes, distance, survivability factors, coverage, and connectivity of the sensor nodes are considered for designing the fitness function. A comprehensive statistical analysis is done using the simulation results to prove the proposed scheme's efficiency with other existing state-of-the-art methods under various p-coverage and q-connectivity configurations. Recently, many image encryption algorithms have been proposed. Part of them failed to pass the cryptanalysis test and were found to be unsecure. Some others were more secure and could resist the known cryptanalysis methods. Many of those recent schemes followed a well-known model that consists of encrypting the image's pixels using a variety of techniques and methods. Many algorithms were claimed to be secure and performant to be used in real applications. This paper investigates this claim by performing a comparative analysis between a chaotic algorithm recently proposed and the standard general purpose AES cryptosystem in a web application context. In recent years, Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA) is a kind of meta-heuristic optimization algorithm with simple structure, simple parameters and trigonometric function principle. It has been proved that it has good competitiveness among the existing optimization algorithms. However, the single mechanism of SCA leads to its insufficient utilization of the information of the whole population, insufficient ability to jump out of local optima and poor performance at solving complex objective function. Therefore, this paper introduces social learning strategy (SL) and elite opposition-based learning (EOBL) strategy to improve SCA, and proposes novel algorithm: enhancing Sine Cosine Algorithm based on elite opposition-based learning and social learning (ESLSCA). Social learning strategy takes full advantage of information from the entire population. The elite opposition-based learning strategy provides a possibility for the algorithm to jump out of local optima and increases the diversity of the population. To demonstrate the performance of ESLSCA, this paper uses 22 well-known benchmark test functions and CEC2019 test function set to evaluate ESLSCA. The foundation of this research is the quantum implementation of two hashing algorithms, namely Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA1) and Message Digest (MD5). Quantum cryptography is a challenging topic in network security for future networks. Quantum cryptography is an outgrowth of two broad topics—cryptology and cryptanalysis. In this paper, SHA1 and MD5 algorithms are designed and implemented for quantum computers. The main aim is to study and investigate the time requirement to build a hash and the bit rate at which a hash value is sent through. In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of these two algorithms is performed. Experiments have been done to compare and contrast the performances of the classical and proposed algorithms. In the experiment, it was found that the total time of execution of quantum SHA1 and quantum MD5 is much higher than the classical SHA1 and MD5. During quantum MD5 execution, it is observed that the time doubles when the number of chunks is increased from 1 to 2. The latent block model is used to simultaneously rank the rows and columns of a matrix to reveal a block structure. The algorithms used for estimation are often time consuming. However, recent work shows that the log-likelihood ratios are equivalent under the complete and observed (with unknown labels) models and the groups posterior distribution to converge as the size of the data increases to a Dirac mass located at the actual groups configuration. Based on these observations, the algorithm Largest Gaps is proposed in this paper to perform clustering using only the marginals of the matrix, when the number of blocks is very small with respect to the size of the whole matrix in the case of binary data. In addition, a model selection method is incorporated with a proof of its consistency. Thus, this paper shows that studying simplistic configurations (few blocks compared to the size of the matrix or very contrasting blocks) with complex algorithms is useless since the marginals already give very good parameter and classification estimates. The problem of finding a maximum size matching in a graph (known as the maximum matching problem) is one of the most classical problems in computer science. Despite a significant body of work dedicated to the study of this problem in the data stream model, the state-of-the-art single-pass semi-streaming algorithm for it is still a simple greedy algorithm that computes a maximal matching, and this way obtains 1 / 2 -approximation. Some previous works described two/three-pass algorithms that improve over this approximation ratio by using their second and third passes to improve the above mentioned maximal matching. One contribution of this paper continues this line of work by presenting new three-pass semi-streaming algorithms that work along these lines and obtain improved approximation ratios of 0.6111 and 0.5694 for triangle-free and general graphs, respectively. No such algorithms were previously known, and the main contribution of this paper is describing such algorithms that obtain approximation ratios of 0.5384 and 0.5555 in two and three passes, respectively, for general graphs. Recent research has focused on applying blockchain technology to solve security-related problems in Internet of Things (IoT) networks. However, the inherent scalability issues of blockchain technology become apparent in the presence of a vast number of IoT devices and the substantial data generated by these networks. Therefore, in this paper, we use a lightweight consensus algorithm to cater to these problems. We propose a scalable blockchain-based framework for managing IoT data, catering to a large number of devices. This framework utilizes the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus algorithm to ensure enhanced performance and efficiency in resource-constrained IoT networks. DPoS being a lightweight consensus algorithm leverages a selected number of elected delegates to validate and confirm transactions, thus mitigating the performance and efficiency degradation in the blockchain-based IoT networks. In this paper, we implemented an Interplanetary File System (IPFS) for distributed storage, and Docker to evaluate the network performance in terms of throughput, latency, and resource utilization. We divided our analysis into four parts: Latency, throughput, resource utilization, and file upload time and speed in distributed storage evaluation. Our empirical findings demonstrate that our framework exhibits low latency, measuring less than 0.976 ms. The proposed technique outperforms Proof of Stake (PoS), representing a state-of-the-art consensus technique. In order to address the challenges of identifying, detecting, and tracking moving objects in video surveillance, this paper emphasizes image-based dynamic entity detection. It delves into the complexities of numerous moving objects, dense targets, and intricate backgrounds. Leveraging the You Only Look Once (YOLOv3) algorithm framework, this paper proposes improvements in image segmentation and data filtering to address these challenges. These enhancements form a novel multi-object detection algorithm based on an improved YOLOv3 framework, specifically designed for video applications. Experimental validation demonstrates the feasibility of this algorithm, with success rates exceeding 60% for videos such as "jogging", "subway", "video 1", and "video 2". Notably, the detection success rates for "jogging" and "video 1" consistently surpass 80%, indicating outstanding detection performance. Although the accuracy slightly decreases for "Bolt" and "Walking2", success rates still hover around 70%. Comparative analysis with other algorithms reveals that this method's tracking accuracy surpasses that of particle filters, Discriminative Scale Space Tracker (DSST), and Scale Adaptive Multiple Features (SAMF) algorithms, with an accuracy of 0.822. This indicates superior overall performance in target tracking. Therefore, the improved YOLOv3-based multi-object detection and tracking algorithm demonstrates robust filtering and detection capabilities in noise-resistant experiments, making it highly suitable for various detection tasks in practical applications. It can address inherent limitations such as missed detections, false positives, and imprecise localization. In industry, the task of defect classification and defect localization is an important part of defect detection system. However, existing studies only focus on one task and it is difficult to ensure the accuracy of both tasks. This paper proposes a defect detection system based on improved Yolo_v4, which greatly improves the detection ability of minor defects. For K_Means algorithm clustering prianchors question with strong subjectivity, the paper proposes the Density Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN) algorithm to determine the number of Anchors. To solve the problem of low detection rate of small targets caused by insufficient reuse rate of low-level features in CSPDarknet53 feature extraction network, this paper proposes an ECA-DenseNet-BC-121 feature extraction network to improve it. And the Dual Channel Feature Enhancement (DCFE) module is proposed to improve the local information loss and gradient propagation obstruction caused by quad chain convolution in PANet networks to improve the robustness of the model. The experimental results on the fabric surface defect detection datasets show that the mAP of the improved Yolo_v4 is 98.97%, which is 7.67% higher than SSD, 3.75% higher than Faster_RCNN, 10.82% higher than Yolo_v4 tiny, and 5.35% higher than Yolo_v4, and the detection speed reaches 39.4 fps. The main result of this paper is a combinatorial -time algorithm for computing the entire sequence of the maximum degree of minors of a (2 × 2) -type generic partitioned polynomial matrix of size 2 μ × 2 ν . We also present a minimax theorem, which can be used as a good characterization (NP ∩ co-NP characterization) for the computation of the maximum degree of minors of order k. Fruit recognition and location are the premises of robot automatic picking. YOLOv3 has been used to detect different fruits in complex environment. However, for the object with definite features, the complex network structure will increase the computing time and may cause overfitting. Therefore, this paper has carried out a lightweight design for the YOLOv3. This paper proposed an improved T-Net to detect tomato images. Firstly, the T-Net reduces the residual network layers. This paper changed the number of cycles in each group of the residual unit to 1, 2, 2, 1, and 1. Second, two feature layers with different scales are selected according to the features of tomatoes. Meanwhile, the convolutional layer at the neck has been reduced by two layers. Finally, the location and approximate diameter of the ripe tomato are obtained by combining the node information of the Intel D435i camera and T-Net in the Robot Operation System. T-Net obtains mean average precision (mAP) of 99.2%, F1-score of 98.9%, precision of 99.0%, and recall of 98.8% at a detection rate of 104.2 FPS. The proposed T-Net has outperformed the YOLOv3 with 0.4%, 0.1%, and 0.2% increase in precision, mAP, and F1-score. The detection speed of T-Net is 1.8 times faster than YOLOv3. The mean errors of the center coordinates and diameter of the tomato are 8.5 mm and 2.5 mm, respectively. This model provides a method for efficient real-time detection and location of tomatoes. This paper is about the opposite of judgement and calculation. This opposition has been a traditional anchor of critiques concerned with the rise of AI decision making over human judgement. Contrary to these approaches, it is argued that human judgement is not and cannot be replaced by calculation, but that it is human judgement that contextualises computational structures and gives them meaning and purpose. The article focuses on the epistemic structure of algorithms and artificial neural networks to find that they always depend on human judgement to be related to real life objects or purposes. By introducing the philosophical concept of judgement, it becomes clear that the property of judgement to provide meaning and purposiveness is based on the temporality of human life and the ambiguity of language, which quantitative processes lack. A juxtaposition shows that calculations and clustering can be used and referred to in more or less prejudiced and reflecting as well as opaque and transparent ways, but thereby always depend on human judgement. The paper clearly asserts that the transparency of AI is necessary for their autonomous use. This transparency requires the explicitness of the judgements that constitute these computational structures, thereby creating an awareness of the conditionality of such epistemic entities. In this paper, we study the power and limitations of component-stable algorithms in the low-space model of massively parallel computation (MPC). Recently Ghaffari, Kuhn and Uitto (FOCS 2019) introduced the class of component-stable low-space MPC algorithms, which are, informally, those algorithms for which the outputs reported by the nodes in different connected components are required to be independent. This very natural notion was introduced to capture most (if not all) of the known efficient MPC algorithms to date, and it was the first general class of MPC algorithms for which one can show non-trivial conditional lower bounds. In this paper we enhance the framework of component-stable algorithms and investigate its effect on the complexity of randomized and deterministic low-space MPC. Our key contributions include: 1. We revise and formalize the lifting approach of Ghaffari, Kuhn and Uitto. This requires a very delicate amendment of the notion of component stability, which allows us to fill in gaps in the earlier arguments. 2. We also extend the framework to obtain conditional lower bounds for deterministic algorithms and fine-grained lower bounds that depend on the maximum degree Δ . 3. We demonstrate a collection of natural graph problems for which deterministic component-unstable algorithms break the conditional lower bound obtained for component-stable algorithms. This implies that, in the context of deterministic algorithms, component-stable algorithms are conditionally weaker than the component-unstable ones. 4. We also show that the restriction to component-stable algorithms has an impact in the randomized setting. We present a natural problem which can be solved in O(1) rounds by a component-unstable MPC algorithm, but requires Ω (log log ∗ n) rounds for any component-stable algorithm, conditioned on the connectivity conjecture. Altogether our results imply that component-stability might limit the computational power of the low-space MPC model, at least in certain contexts, paving the way for improved upper bounds that escape the conditional lower bound setting of Ghaffari, Kuhn, and Uitto. Manual term extraction is similar to literal meaning: A translator browses text, classifies words, and prepares for translation. Terminology, as a centralized carrier of expertise, creation, popularization, and disappearance, dynamically reflects the development and evolution of an industry. The automatic extraction of terminology is a key technology for creating a professional terminology database, and it is also a key topic in the field of natural language processing. The purpose of this paper is to study how to analyse a term extraction algorithm based on machine learning and a comprehensive feature strategy. Focusing on the problems of poor generality and single statistical features of current term extraction algorithms, this paper proposes an improved domain ontology term extraction algorithm based on a comprehensive feature strategy. Moreover, automatic term extraction experiments based on a word-based maximum entropy model and a conditional random field model based on machine learning are conducted in this paper. Its word-based conditional random field model outperforms the maximum entropy model. The experimental results show that the algorithm based on the comprehensive feature strategy improves the accuracy by 8.6% compared with the TF-IDF algorithm and the C-value term extraction algorithm. The complex domain adaptive filtering algorithms has shown excellent performance in the field of signal processing. Among them, the well-known complex least mean square (CLMS) algorithm has been widely used in practical projects. However, the CLMS algorithm only considers the case where the output signal is disturbed by noise, ignores the input signal may also be interfered by noise. Moreover, the signal is likely to be disturbed by impulsive noise in practice. Based on the above problems, the complex total least mean M-estimation (CTLMM) adaptive algorithm based on the M-estimation function is put forward in this paper. The algorithm can well handle the case where both input and output signals are subject to complex domain noise interference, and it also shows robustness with impulsive noise. This paper also analyzes the local stability of the CTLMM algorithm and discuss the theoretical steady-state error of the algorithm. In this paper, an autonomous driving lateral control algorithm is introduced for bus rapid transit (BRT, with an articulated bus). The control algorithm includes an integration of model predictive control (MPC) for lateral control and PID control algorithms for longitudinal control considering the vehicle properties. To verify the algorithm in real-time, a model-in-the-loop system was developed using TruckSim in NI Veristand and Matlab/Simulink in Micro-AutoBox. In TruckSim, a BRT plant model was verified using vehicle tests and then applied. In addition, GPS data from a BRT route were acquired from the vehicle test and applied to a TruckSim scenario. In the Matlab/Simulink, the autonomous driving lateral control algorithm for MPC was developed. To communicate between the plant model and the control algorithm in real-time, a controller area network (CAN) protocol was defined and applied like a real vehicle. Therefore, a real-time verification environment was prepared to test the real-time autonomous driving lateral control algorithm for BRT. By using the verification environment, the control algorithm was verified using the ISO-11270 standard. Although many efforts have been made to develop an autonomous driving control algorithm, autonomous driving of BRT is expected more tangible because the BRT has its own lane and speed limitation. Aiming at the shortcomings of Chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA), which is easy to fall into local optimal value and imbalance between global exploration ability and local exploitation ability. To improve ChOA from the perspective of multi-strategy mixing, MSChimp was proposed, and the algorithm was applied to global optimization and minimum spanning tree problems. The main research work of this paper is as follows: (1) In the initialization stage of ChOA, an opposition-based learning strategy was introduced to improve the population diversity; Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA) was introduced in the exploitation process to improve the convergence speed and accuracy of the algorithm in the later stage, so as to balance the exploration and exploitation capabilities of the algorithm. (2) The improved algorithm was compared with different types of meta-heuristic algorithms in 20 benchmark functions and CEC 2019 test sets, and was used to solve the minimum spanning tree. The experimental results show that the improved ChOA has significantly improved the ability to find the optimal value, which verifies the effectiveness and feasibility of MSChimp. This letter identifies a fundamental mistake in the published paper titled "A projective general linear group-based algorithm for the construction of substitution box for block ciphers." The projective general linear group-based algorithm is designed to provide high nonlinearity, low differential uniformity, and good resistance against linear and differential attacks. The projective general linear group-based algorithm uses the linear fractional transformation defined over finite field GF 2 8 . The authors of the paper claimed that the irreducible polynomial of degree 8 is used for the construction of a finite field GF 2 8 . We have observed that the projective general linear group-based algorithm uses a reducible polynomial of degree 8. Thus, the inverse of each element does not exist in the finite field GF 2 8 . This paper aims to propose a table tennis target detection (TD) method based on deep learning (DL) and multi-scale feature fusion (MFF) to improve the detection accuracy of the ball in table tennis competition, optimize the training process of athletes, and improve the technical level. In this paper, DL technology is used to improve the accuracy of table tennis TD through MFF guidance. Initially, based on the FAST Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (FAST R-CNN), the TD is carried out in the table tennis match. Then, through the method of MFF guidance, different levels of feature information are fused, which improves the accuracy of TD. This paper presents an improved arithmetic optimization algorithm that incorporates hybrid elite pool strategies to address the limitations of the arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA). In AOA, the linear mathematical optimization acceleration (MOA) function cannot balance global exploitation and local exploration well. Therefore, the accuracy and convergence speed of the algorithm cannot be guaranteed. To improve the performance of AOA, this paper reconstructed a nonlinear MOA function, which is expected to balance the exploitation and the exploration of AOA. Furthermore, four hybrid elite pool strategies are integrated to enhance the ability to escape local optima. The proposed algorithm inherits the fast convergence of AOA and develops the performance of escaping local optima. Numerical experiment results on benchmark functions and engineering problems show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other compared meta-heuristic algorithms in terms of convergence speed and accuracy. With the rapid development of AI and big data mining technologies, computerized medical decision-making has become increasingly prominent. The aim of high-utility pattern mining (HUPM) is to discover meaningful patterns in medical databases that contribute to maximizing the utility from the perspective of diagnosis. However, HUPM pays less attention to the interpretability and explainability of these patterns in medical decision-making scenarios. This paper proposes a novel algorithm called the Improved fuzzy high-utility pattern mining (IF-HUPM) to address this problem. First, the paper applies a fuzzy preprocessing method to divide the fuzzy intervals of a medical quantitative data set, which enhances the fuzziness and interpretability of the data. Next, in the process of IF-HUPM, both fuzzy tree and list structures are employed to calculate fuzzy high-utility values. By combining the characteristics of the one-stage and two-stage algorithms of HUPM, an adaptive-phase Fuzzy HUPM hybrid frame is proposed. In this paper, an asymmetric scheme based on double image using phase retrieval algorithms in gyrator domain is reported. The double images are encrypted using QZ synthesis method based on QZ algorithm. The synthesized image is bonded with a random phase mask and undergoes a gyrator transform. The resultant image act as an input for the phase retrieval algorithm. We have tested the scheme with five different phase retrieval algorithms, namely the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, modified Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, input–output algorithm, Yang-Gu mixture amplitude-phase retrieval algorithm, and improved amplitude-phase retrieval algorithm. Simulations are executed to show the performance, feasibility, and robustness of the scheme. The gyrator parameter and private keys are highly sensitive to a small change to their original value. Performance of different phase retrieval algorithms on the scheme is evaluated using multi-attribute decision-making tool: TOPSIS method. Results suggest that the Yang-Gu mixture amplitude-phase retrieval algorithm performs better among phase retrieval algorithms and has ranked 1 in TOPSIS analysis. The Internet of Things (IoT) is constantly evolving. The variety of IoT applications has caused new demands to emerge on users' part and competition between computing service providers. On the one hand, an IoT application may exhibit several important criteria, such as deadline and runtime simultaneously, and it is confronted with resource limitations and high energy consumption on the other hand. This has turned to adopting a computing environment and scheduling as a fundamental challenge. To resolve the issue, IoT applications are considered in this paper as a workflow composed of a series of interdependent tasks. The tasks in the same workflow (at the same level) are subject to priorities and deadlines for execution, making the problem far more complex and closer to the real world. In this paper, a hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization and Simulated Annealing algorithm (PSO–SA) is used for prioritizing tasks and improving fitness function. Our proposed method managed the task allocation and optimized energy consumption and makespan at the fog-cloud environment nodes. Conventional wireless sensors have difficulty solving the problem of energy limitation, especially in sensor networks in hard-to-reach extreme areas. In order to solve the problem that it is difficult to charge wireless sensors in the field using conventional energy sources, the energy harvesting wireless senor is designed to use renewable energy sources for power supply. Considering the uncertainty and unknown nature of renewable energy generation, and the need for effective energy management of the sensor. In this paper, an Node Power Control Optimization (NPCO) power allocation algorithm is proposed to adjust the power allocation problem of wireless sensor nodes within each time slot. In addition, to address the unknown and random nature of energy arrival, this paper proposes a CLSTM model based on deep learning to predict the energy arrival. The continuous autonomous energy management of wireless sensor nodes is achieved by combining the CLSTM prediction results using the NPCO algorithm. The aim of this paper is to propose efficient algorithms for computing the energetic lower bounds of the cumulative sheduling problem. So we have to schedule in a minimal makespan a set of non preemptive tasks on a resource with a given capacity. A task has a release date, a processing time and a tail and requires a given amount of the resource capacity during its processing. The energetic lower bound is the largest value of the makespan such that the energetic reasoning check cannot detect unfeasability. We report some algorithms to practically compute this lower bound with efficient complexity. These algorithms rely on iterative augmentations of C max until the cumulative constraint or the energetic constraint is satisfied. Our Computational results show their practical efficiencies. This paper proposes a novel multi-hybrid algorithm named DHPN, using the best-known properties of dwarf mongoose algorithm (DMA), honey badger algorithm (HBA), prairie dog optimizer (PDO), cuckoo search (CS), grey wolf optimizer (GWO) and naked mole rat algorithm (NMRA). It follows an iterative division for extensive exploration and incorporates major parametric enhancements for improved exploitation operation. To counter the local optima problems, a stagnation phase using CS and GWO is added. Six new inertia weight operators have been analyzed to adapt algorithmic parameters, and the best combination of these parameters has been found. An analysis of the suitability of DHPN towards population variations and higher dimensions has been performed. For performance evaluation, the CEC 2005 and CEC 2019 benchmark data sets have been used. A comparison has been performed with differential evolution with active archive (JADE), self-adaptive DE (SaDE), success history based DE (SHADE), LSHADE-SPACMA, extended GWO (GWO-E), jDE100, and others. The DHPN algorithm is also used to solve the image fusion problem for four fusion quality metrics, namely, edge-based similarity index ( Q A B / F ), sum of correlation difference (SCD), structural similarity index measure (SSIM), and artifact measure ( N A B / F ). The average Q A B / F = 0.765508 , S C D = 1.63185 , S S I M = 0.726317 , and N A B / F = 0.006617 shows the best combination of results obtained by DHPN with respect to the existing algorithms such as DCH, CBF, GTF, JSR and others. Experimental and statistical Wilcoxon's and Friedman's tests show that the proposed DHPN algorithm performs significantly better in comparison to the other algorithms under test. It is becoming increasingly common for authoritarian regimes to leverage digital technologies to surveil, repress and manipulate their citizens. Experts typically refer to this practice as digital authoritarianism (DA). Existing definitions of DA consistently presuppose a politically repressive agent intentionally exploiting digital technologies to pursue authoritarian ends. I refer to this as the intention-based definition. This paper argues that this definition is untenable as a general description of DA. I begin by illustrating the current predominance of the intention-based definition (Section 2). Section 3 then presents four counterexamples to this definition: benign surveillance; digital sovereignty; attention-harvesting algorithms; and tech-induced loneliness. In each case, we witness authoritarianism being promoted by digital technologies without any evidence of this being intentionally caused by politically repressive agents. Based on these observations, I contend that the intention-based definition is underinclusive and is therefore unsustainable. Section 4 outlines an improved definition of DA – what I call the promotion-based definition. Since this more expansive definition does not posit intentional, politically repressive agency as a precondition of DA, it can accommodate the counterexamples discussed in Section 3. Moreover, it enables us to catch a broader spectrum of cases of DA, such as tech-induced loneliness, which those adhering to the intention-based definition are prone to overlook. After outlining further practical benefits of the promotion-based definition, I argue that we still need to distinguish between intentional and unintentional forms of DA since they call for distinct types of remedial action. In wireless sensor networks, location information is crucial to effectively use the event information recorded by the sensors. However, localizing mobile sensor nodes in resource-constrained networks presents several challenges, including determining the optimal number of anchor nodes, handling mobility, designing a path loss model, considering network topology, and addressing scalability and the number of localized nodes. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a coordinate-based auto-localization algorithm (CALA) with a single anchor node for mobile sensor nodes. The proposed algorithm uses an analytical model to determine the location of the target node by considering a parallel coordinate system and retrieving the original location of the target node by moving it to two different locations. The algorithm uses received signal strength indicator (RSSI) values for distance calculation while considering Rayleigh fading in the path loss model. The proposed algorithm's performance is evaluated using various parameter settings, including mobility, node density, fading, path loss exponent, and different random seed values. The study finds that fading and path loss significantly influence the localization process, leading to an accuracy range of 10 to 30% when measuring distances using RSSI. The proposed method shows a 30% improvement in localization accuracy when the number of nodes increases from 5 to 20, achieving an average localization accuracy of 90% in a network with 20 sensor nodes. Furthermore, the study offers an in-depth investigation of the effect of various random generating situations on localization accuracy. As a significant branch of production scheduling problem, the Flexibility Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) is a typical NP-hard problem. Most conventional flexible workshop scheduling primarily focuses on performance aspects involving production efficiency such as time and quality. In recent years, due to increased energy costs and environmental pollution, 'low-carbon scheduling' has garnered attention as a new scheduling paradigm among scholars and engineers. This paper investigates a low-carbon flexible Job shop scheduling problem, proposing a Grey Wolf Optimization algorithm (SC-GWO), aiming to minimize the sum of carbon emission costs and makespan costs. This algorithm employs the Grey Wolf Algorithm (GWO) as the fundamental optimization method, adaptively choosing between global and local searches based on the dispersion degree of individuals. Firstly, integrating the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), the sinusoidal cosine search mechanism is applied to GWO to enhance its local search capability. Secondly, a new leader selection mechanism is introduced to prevent leaders from falling into local optima, thus improving the algorithm's global exploration capability. Utilizing a nonlinear convergence factor strategy controls the global exploration and local exploitation capabilities in different algorithm stages, enhancing optimization accuracy and accelerating convergence, achieving a dynamic balance between the two. Finally, validation of the SC-GWO algorithm's ability to solve low-carbon scheduling problems in flexible job shop scheduling instances is conducted. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of SC-GWO in solving low-carbon flexible workshop scheduling instances. Comparative experiments against four other advanced algorithms on 22 classic benchmark test functions confirm SC-GWO's better convergence. Through standard test functions like Bandimarte instances applied to solve FJSP, experimental results showcase the excellent optimization performance of SC-GWO. Compared to HGWO and GWO, the makespan time is reduced by 22.25% and 39.27%, respectively. This paper proposes the Love Evolution Algorithm (LEA), a novel evolutionary algorithm inspired by the stimulus–value–role theory. The optimization process of the LEA includes three phases: stimulus, value, and role. Both partners evolve through these phases and benefit from them regardless of the outcome of the relationship. This inspiration is abstracted into mathematical models for global optimization. The efficiency of the LEA is validated through numerical experiments with CEC2017 benchmark functions, outperforming seven metaheuristic algorithms as evidenced by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Friedman test. Further tests using the CEC2022 benchmark functions confirm the competitiveness of the LEA compared to seven state-of-the-art metaheuristics. Lastly, the study extends to real-world problems, demonstrating the performance of the LEA across eight diverse engineering problems. One of the most important strategies used to mitigate the adverse impacts of traffic growth on mobile networks is caching. By caching at the edge, the backhaul traffic load is reduced, and the quality of service for the user is increased. Developing an effective caching algorithm requires accurate prediction of the future popularity of the content, which is a challenging issue. In recent years, deep learning models have achieved high predictive accuracy due to advancements in data availability and increased computing power. In this paper, we present a caching algorithm called the user preference-aware content caching algorithm (UPACA). This algorithm is specifically designed for an edge content delivery platform where users can access content services provided by a remote content provider. UPACA operates in two steps. In the first step, the proposed collaborative filtering-based popularity prediction algorithm (CFPA) is used to predict future content popularities. CFPA utilizes a gated residual variational autoencoder collaborative filtering model to predict users' future preferences and calculate the future popularity of content. This algorithm considers the popularity of the content as well as the number and timing of content requests. Cloud data centers face various challenges, such as high energy consumption, environmental impact, and quality of service (QoS) requirements. Dynamic virtual machine (VM) consolidation is an effective approach to address these challenges, but it is a complex optimization problem that involves trade-offs between energy efficiency and QoS satisfaction. Moreover, the workload patterns in cloud data centers are often non-stationary and unpredictable, which makes it difficult to model them. In this paper, we propose a new method for dynamic VM consolidation that optimizes both energy efficiency and QoS objectives. Our approach is based on Markov chains and the artificial feeding birds (AFB) algorithm. Markov chains are used to model the resource utilization of each individual VM and PM based on the changes that happen in workload data. AFB algorithm is a metaheuristic optimization technique that mimics the behavior of birds in nature. We modify the AFB algorithm to suit the characteristics of the VM placement problem and to provide QoS-aware and energy-efficient solutions. Our approach also employs an online step detection method to capture variations in workload patterns. Furthermore, we introduce a new policy for VM selection from overloaded hosts, which considers the abrupt changes in the utilization processes of the VMs. The proposed algorithms are evaluated extensively using the CloudSim Toolkit with real workload data. This paper compares various angle-tracking algorithms to balance the performance and noise for a steering-by-wire (SBW) system. Direct and quiet steering experiences can improve drivers' acceptance of the SBW system. Linear quadratic regulator (LQR) control, robust control, and conventional cascade proportional–integral (PI) control have been developed and compared both theoretically and experimentally. To avoid the risky and time-consuming parameter-tuning process, a high-fidelity steering resistance model, which comprises a linear two-degree-of-freedom vehicle model and a dynamic LuGre friction model is established. Step and sine wave tests are simulated in a Matlab/Simulink environment to determine the reasonable parameter region for various methods. Then, the three types of algorithms are implemented on a prototype SBW vehicle and compared under the same scenarios. Finally, the simulated and experimental results are illustrated in detail. According to the indicators of control bandwidths, steady-state errors, cockpit sounds, and current waveforms, it is clear that LQR and robust control can achieve faster response and more acceptable noise, with uncertain and relatively larger tracking errors. Optimization of scheduling problems that involve single or multiple machines with a multimodal objective function and linear or non-linear constraints are generally NP-Hard. The Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is a metaheuristic proposed about eighteen years ago and has gained popularity in the swarm intelligence-based evolutionary computation approaches. Various scheduling requirements in diverse domains viz. Electric Vehicle charging, Operating Room, Nurse, Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV), production, manufacturing, hydrothermal, Printed Circuit Board (PCB), and call centre scheduling are studied. The NP-Hard nature of these scheduling problems render exact methods incompetent for large problem instances thus requiring meta-heuristics such as ABC to produce feasible solutions in a reasonable computation time. The adaptation of ABC in these domains and the outcomes and performance of ABC are highlighted. Based on the case studies, it is found that the requirements of scheduling problems that would benefit from ABC are those that have a planning horizon requiring a near-optimal solution in a reasonably fast time when run on minimal computing capacity. Future works that would merit the application and enhancement of existing ABC techniques are proposed. The case studies presented in this paper motivate R&D Engineers and young researchers to apply ABC techniques of optimization and scheduling in different research topics for achieving energy and cost efficiency. The exponential increase in Internet-facing devices in the last decade has resulted in IP address exhaustion due to the limitations of the existing IPv4 address space. Therefore, the Internet Engineering Task Force engineered a new version of the Internet protocol known as Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) to resolve the issue. However, IPv6 is highly dependent on the neighbor discovery protocol (NDP), which, unfortunately, has well-known vulnerabilities in its underlying messaging protocol, the Internet Control Message Protocol version 6. So, the NDP flaws leave the IPv6 network open to many security threats and attacks, including man-in-the-middle, spoofing, and denial-of-service attacks, which are the most annoying attack at the network layer. Unfortunately, one of the critical issues plaguing the existing anomaly-based detection system is the effectiveness of detecting NDP-based DDoS attacks, which requires urgent attention. This paper suggests a system to find network traffic patterns that are not normal that are caused by NDP-based attacks. It does this by teaching neural networks how to recognize network attack patterns using the backpropagation algorithm. The proposed system is a big step forward from where the field is now because it uses a complex neural network algorithm to create an NDP anomaly-based detection system. Using a real dataset to test the proposed system's performance shows that it can find NDP anomalies with a 99.95% success rate, a 99.92% precision rate, a 99.98% recall rate, an F1-Score of 99.98%, and a 0.040% false positive rate. In this paper, we present an underdetermined estimation algorithm for two-dimensional (2-D) direction of arrival (DOA) based on three-parallel co-prime arrays. By exploiting the correlation among the received signals in both the time and spatial domains, a conjugate augmented spatial–temporal virtual array is constructed, which significantly increases the degrees of freedom (DOF) and expands the array aperture, effectively filling the holes within the physical array. By vectorizing the covariance matrix obtained from the spatial–temporal virtual array, we can transform the 2-D DOA estimation problem into a one-dimensional (1-D) sparse recovery problem. Thereafter, the excellent gridless methods: sparse and parametric approach (SPA) and the matrix pencil and pairing (MAPP), are adopted to efficiently resolve the 1-D sparse recovery problem, enabling the automatic pairing of the 2-D angles. This paper introduces a novel algorithm for optimizing the coefficients of the digital filters used in incremental delta-sigma analog-to-digital converters (IDSC). This algorithm is modified from constrained linear least squares (LS) to improve the signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio (SNDR) of IDSC and minimize the oversampling rate (OSR) of the modulator, which enhances system speed and reduces power consumption. In the case of the same SNDR, the first-order IDSC with the proposed filter can reduce the OSR of the modulator by 50%, at least compared to the IDSC with the conventional filter. The second-order IDSC with the proposed filter can reach a higher SNDR of 106 dB with an OSR of 64. Considering the nonlinearity of the integrator, the SNDR of IDSC with the proposed filter is also 10 dB greater than that of the conventional filters and 3dB greater than that of the IDSC using the near-optimal algorithm filter. The controlled autoregressive autoregressive moving average (CARARMA) models are of popularity to describe the evolution characteristics of dynamical systems. To overcome the identification obstacle resulting from colored noises, this paper studies the identification of the CARARMA models by forming an intermediate correlated noise model. In order to realize the real-time prediction function of the models, the on-line identification scheme is developed by constructing the dynamical objective functions based on the real-time sampled observations. Firstly, a rolling optimization cost function is built based on the observation at a single sampling instant to catch the modal information at a single time point and a generalized extended stochastic gradient (GESG) algorithm is proposed through the stochastic gradient optimization. Secondly, a rolling window cost function is built in accordance with the dynamical batch observations within data window by extending the proposed GESG algorithm and the multi-innovation generalized extended stochastic gradient algorithm is derived. Thirdly, from the perspective of theoretical analysis, the convergence proof of the proposed algorithm is provided based on the stochastic martingale convergence theory. Optimal dispatch in power systems is a complex mathematical model of nonlinear programming with many physical constraints, which is difficult to solve by conventional methods. Thus, intelligent algorithms are now viable options for resolving the nonlinear scheduling issues of microgrids. In this paper, we propose a double-layer optimization strategy based on the multi-point improved gray wolf algorithm (MPIGWO). The inner layer optimizes load profiles with time-of-use tariffs. The outer one achieves a fast search for the optimal solution and prevents getting stuck in a local optimum, which improves the gray wolf algorithm significantly. First, the Bernoulli map is used to randomly generate the initial population. Second, the efficiency of optimization can be improved by modifying the attenuation factor based on the Sin function and then updating the exact weight factor of the position to reasonably select the best position. Finally, an improved dimensional learning-based hunting (IDLH) search strategy is employed to determine the optimal solution. The numerical case study shows that the proposed double-layer optimization strategy can implement dynamic scheduling for distributed power sources while lowering the costs of economic operation and environmental protection significantly. Mesh size dependency caused by strain localization is an ongoing problem in numerical simulations using the finite element method. In order to solve this problem, the concept of including the characteristic element length for regularization is used in the literature. The estimation of the characteristic element length is not a straightforward task since normally the characteristic element length differs from one element to another in the simulation and depends not only on element geometry but also on fracture plane orientation and material orientation. In this paper, an innovative method is proposed to estimate the characteristic element length which works on the orthogonal projection of elements on the fracture plane. The method is implemented in Abaqus/Explicit finite element solver and is verified using simple and more complex load cases such as tensile specimens, open hole specimens, and low-velocity impact. A good correlation between the numerical and experimental results in all of the studied cases was achieved and the proposed method proved to be effective in reducing mesh sensitivity. The use of the volumetric method from the literature for the simulation of open-hole tensile specimens led to more than 25% increase in the estimation of specimen strength while similar values of strength for different element aspect ratios were achieved with the proposed method. Because of the limitations of current PCB detection methods, such as low detection accuracy and high rate of false and missed detection, a PCB defect detection algorithm based on improved RetinaNet is proposed, that is, RetinaNet-line. Firstly, the algorithm uses PVT v2B2-Hi as the backbone network of the whole model, which can not only solve the deep feature redundancy caused by the residual network in RetinaNet but also improve the feature extraction ability of the network. Then, the CARAFE up-sampling module is used to enrich the semantic features of defective targets and promote the discrimination ability of the algorithm to defective targets. Finally, HSV color space is used to process the input feature image, and the color distribution is expanded by random perturbation in H, S, and V channels, with the data enhancement completed. In this paper, experiments are conducted on the publicly shared PCB defect detection dataset from the Intelligent Open Laboratory of Peking University, and the results show that the improved algorithm achieves 94.2% in the mAP index, which is better than other networks. Simon's problem is one of the most important problems demonstrating the power of quantum algorithms, as it greatly inspired the proposal of Shor's algorithm. The generalized Simon's problem is a natural extension of Simon's problem and also a special hidden subgroup problem: Given a function f : { 0 , 1 } n → { 0 , 1 } m , it is promised that there exists a hidden subgroup S ≤ Z 2 n of rank k such that for any x , y ∈ { 0 , 1 } n , f (x) = f (y) iff x ⊕ y ∈ S . The goal of generalized Simon's problem is to find the hidden subgroup S. In this paper, we present two key contributions. Firstly, we characterize the structure of the generalized Simon's problem in distributed scenario and introduce a corresponding distributed quantum algorithm. Secondly, we refine the algorithm to ensure exactness due to the application of quantum amplitude amplification technique. Our algorithm offers exponential speedup compared to the distributed classical algorithm. When contrasted with the quantum algorithm for the generalized Simon's problem, our algorithm's oracle requires fewer qubits, thus making it easier to be physically implemented. Particularly, the exact distributed quantum algorithm we develop for the generalized Simon's problem outperforms the best previously proposed distributed quantum algorithm for Simon's problem in terms of generalizability and exactness. One of the most popular techniques for changing the purpose of an image or resizing a digital image with content awareness is the seam-carving method. The performance of image resizing algorithms based on seam machining shows that these algorithms are highly dependent on the extraction of importance map techniques and the detection of salient objects. So far, various algorithms have been proposed to extract the importance map. In this paper, a new method based on Rényi entropy is proposed to extract the importance map. Also, a deep learning network has been used to detect salient objects. The simulator results showed that combining Rényi's importance map with a deep network of salient object detection performed better than classical seam-carving and other extended seam-carving algorithms based on deep learning. Remote sensing image fusion is dedicated to obtain a high-resolution multispectral (HRMS) image without spatial or spectral distortion compared to the single source image. In this paper, a novel fusion algorithm based on Bayesian estimation for remote sensing images is proposed from the new perspective of risk decisions. In this study, an observation model based on Bayesian estimation for remote sensing image fusion is constructed. Three categories of probabilities including prior, conditional and posterior probabilities are calculated after an intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) transformation is applied to the original low-resolution MS image. To obtain the desired HRMS image, with the corrected posterior probability, a fusion rule based on Bayesian decisions is designed to estimate which pixels to select from the panchromatic (PAN) image and the intensity component of the MS image. The selected pixels constitute a new component that will participate in an IHS inverse transformation to yield the fused image. Extensive experiments were performed on the Pleiades, WorldView-3, and IKONOS datasets, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As the terminal of the power system, the distribution network is the main area where failures occur. In addition, with the integration of distributed generation, the traditional distribution network becomes more complex, rendering the conventional fault location algorithms based on a single power supply obsolete. Therefore, it is necessary to seek a new algorithm to locate the fault of the distributed power distribution network. In existing fault localization algorithms for distribution networks, since there are only two states of line faults, which can usually be represented by 0 and 1, most algorithms use discrete algorithms with this characteristic for iterative optimization. Therefore, this paper combines the advantages of the particle swarm algorithm and genetic algorithm and uses continuous real numbers for iteration to construct a successive particle swarm genetic algorithm (SPSO-GA) different from previous algorithms. The accuracy, speed, and fault tolerance of SPSO-GA, discrete particle swarm Genetic algorithm, and artificial fish swarm algorithm are compared in an IEEE33-node distribution network with the distributed power supply. The simulation results show that the SPSO-GA algorithm has high optimization accuracy and stability for single, double, or triple faults. Furthermore, SPSO-GA has a rapid convergence velocity, requires fewer particles, and can locate the fault segment accurately for the distribution network containing distorted information.
