The link between childhood harsh parenting and later aggression is well established. However, harsh parenting may occur within the context of nonviolent discipline. Moreover, sympathetic nervous system activity may moderate the effects of harsh parenting on aggression. This study examined whether sympathetic nervous system activity, measured by skin conductance level (SCL), and childhood nonviolent discipline moderate the link between childhood harsh parenting and later aggression among emerging adults. Participants (N = 264, mean age = 19.37, 54% females) reported retrospectively on experiences of childhood harsh parenting and nonviolent discipline as well as current anger, hostility, verbal, and physical aggression. We also measured resting SCL. Regression analyses revealed a significant three-way interaction between childhood harsh parenting, nonviolent discipline, and resting SCL accounting for anger and a significant two-way interaction between childhood harsh parenting and resting SCL accounting for hostility. Results suggested that (1) at high levels of resting SCL and low levels of childhood nonviolent discipline and (2) at low levels of resting SCL and high levels of childhood nonviolent discipline, the link between childhood harsh parenting and anger was stronger. Moreover, the association between childhood harsh parenting and hostility was stronger among participants who exhibited high resting SCL. The findings are consistent with the biological sensitivity to context theory. The protection of the isolated heart is very important in heart transplantation surgery, meanwhile, the ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) of the isolated heart is the main cause of its damage. A timely supply of oxygen can significantly improve the prevention of myocardial ischaemia, however, the cardioprotective solution does not have an oxygen supply function. Haemoglobin Based on Oxygen Carriers (HBOCs) is a kind of nano-oxygen drug, which can effectively and timely supply oxygen to hypoxic organs and tissues. However, the oxygen-carrying and releasing capacity (P50) is different with different HBOCs. The aim of our study was to investigate whether STS (a kind of cardioprotective solution, St Thomas Solution) +different P50 HBOCs provide superior myocardial protection and decrease myocardial injury compared to only STS in rats Langendorff isolated heart perfusion model. The results showed that STS + HBOCs can improve cardiac function at 37 °C for 35 min and 120 min, and reduce myocardial infarctions, pathological changes, and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, and the STS + low P50 HBOCs is more effective than the other two higher P50 HBOCs. We further demonstrated the outstanding protective effect of STS + low P50 HBOCs on cardiac function, reducing myocardial infarctions and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes in rat Langendorff isolated heart perfusion model. To prepare ecdysterone (ES)/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) inclusion complex, thus improving the water solubility and bioavailability of ES. Phase-solubility study was performed to study the mass ratio of ES and HP-β-CD. Then, the ES/HP-β-CD inclusion complex was prepared by the solvent evaporation method, and its physicochemical properties were characterised using the SEM, DSC, XRD, 1HNMR and FT-IR. In addition, in vitro dissolution and bioavailability (oral and transdermal) experiments were also conducted. The inclusion complex was formed with ES and HP-β-CD at the mass ratio of 1:1. ES existed in an amorphous form in the inclusion complex. The equilibrium solubility of ES/HP-β-CD inclusion complex in SGF (simulated gastric fluid) and SIF (simulated intestinal fluid) was 50.6 ± 0.11 mg/mL and 75.9 ± 0.38 mg/mL in SGF and SIF, which was 5.93 and 9.96 times higher than that of free ES, respectively. The ES/HP-β-CD inclusion complex had better dissolution ability and transdermal permeability than the free ES. The oral bioavailability and the transdermal bioavailability were respectively increased by 2.97 times and 1.92 times compared with the free ES. Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) is a novel bunyavirus. Since 2007, SFTS disease has been reported in China with high fatality rate up to 30%, which drew high attention from Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and government. SFTSV is endemic in the centra l and eastern China, Korea and Japan. There also have been similar cases reported in Vietnam. The number of SFTSV infection cases has a steady growth in these years. As SFTSV could transmitted from person to person, it will expose the public to infectious risk. In 2018 annual review of the Blueprint list of priority diseases, World Health Organisation has listed SFTSV infection as prioritised diseases for research and development in emergency contexts. However, the pathogenesis of SFTSV remains largely unclear. Currently, there are no specific therapeutics or vaccines to combat infections of SFTSV. Whether piano touch can influence piano timbre or not is a highly contested topic between acousticians and musicians. To gain insight into the ways in which pianists understand and use timbre, eight piano students were interviewed about their conceptualisation of timbre and ways of producing different timbres on the piano. Results indicate that pianists interpret timbre holistically as the overall sonic outcome and use embodied conceptualisations to produce timbre: expected/intended timbral effects are associated with corporeal experiences and the body and mind are strongly coupled in perception and production. Transcendental meditation (TM) is effective in alleviating stress and anxiety and promoting well-being. While the underlying biological mechanisms of TM are not yet fully explored, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis represents an index providing important clues embodying the stress system cascade. In this pilot study, young adults were randomly assigned to TM training followed by 8 weeks of meditation practice or a wait-list control condition. TM was conducted over 8 weeks. Thirty-four young adult participants were randomized; 27 participants completed the HPA outcome assessments (41% male). To assess HPA axis functioning, salivary samples to assess cortisol awakening response (CAR) that were collected in the morning, both at baseline and at week-4. Salivary cortisol in the context of a social stressor using the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) was collected at week-8. The results indicate that participants who were randomly assigned to TM had lower awakening salivary cortisol levels and a greater drop in CAR from baseline to week-4 than the control group. There were no significant differences in HPA axis functioning in the context of the TSST. Primary limitations of this randomized controlled trial were the small sample size, the use of a wait-list as opposed to an active control, and the limited scope of HPA axis assessments. The results of this pilot study provide tentative evidence that TM may impact biological stress system functioning and suggests that this may be a worthwhile avenue to continue to examine. Recent large-scale genetic association studies have identified that several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on X chromosome are correlated with risk of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Chinese population. The aim of this study was to estimate association between these loci and clinical features in female patients with SLE. Six SNPs identified in previous studies were genotyped. Odds ratio (OR) was calculated with adjusting for potential confounding factors. A total of 772 SLE patients were included in the final analysis. The data showed that 3 SNPs (rs5914778, rs3853839 and rs1059702) were marginally associated with several clinical subphenotypes. Furthermore, consistent associations were also found in two independent cohorts. However, the cumulative genetic risk score (GRS) was not associated with clinical manifestations as well as the disease activity index at disease diagnosis. In summary, genetic variants in X-linked genes may be potentially associated with presence of specific clinical feature. The regulation of gene expression is a fundamental cellular process and its misregulation is a key component of disease. Enhancers are one of the most salient regulatory elements in the genome and help orchestrate proper spatiotemporal gene expression during development, in homeostasis, and in response to signaling. Notably, molecular aberrations at enhancers, such as translocations and single nucleotide polymorphisms, are emerging as an important source of human variation and susceptibility to disease. Herein we discuss emerging paradigms addressing how genes are regulated by enhancers, common features of active enhancers, and how non-coding enhancer RNAs (eRNAs) can direct gene expression programs that underlie cellular phenotypes. We survey the current evidence, which suggests that eRNAs can bind to transcription factors, mediate enhancer-promoter interactions, influence RNA Pol II elongation, and act as decoys for repressive cofactors. Foodborne nanoparticles (NPs) have drawn great attention due to human health concerns. This study reports the detection of the presence of fluorescent NPs, about 5 nm, in two of the most popular beverages, Coca-Cola (Coke) and Pepsi-Cola (Pepsi). The NPs contain H, C and O, three elements with a tunable emission and with a quantum yield of 3.3 and 4.3% for Coke and Pepsi, respectively. The presence of sp3-hybridized carbon atoms of alcohols and ethers bonds was confirmed by NMR analysis. The NPs can be taken up by living cells and accumulate within cell membrane and cytoplasm. Evaluation of the acute toxicity of the NPs revealed that the BALB/c mice appeared healthy after administration of a single dose of 2 g kg−1body weight. Analysis of glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), urea and creatinine showed that there were statistically, but not biologically, significant differences in some of these biochemical parameters between the test and control groups. No obvious organ damage or apparent histopathological abnormality was observed in the tested mice. The biodistribution study in major organs indicated that the NPs were easily accumulated in the digestive tract, and they were able to cross the blood–brain barrier and dispersed in the brain.In vitrodigestion of the NPs showed a significant fluorescence quenching of the NPs. This work represents the first report of foodborne fluorescent NPs present in Coke and Pepsi, and provides valuable insights into physicochemical properties of these NPs and their toxicity characteristics bothin vitroandin vivo. The new research tried to improve the distribution of molecular weight of Hb-based oxygen carriers (HBOC), a bottleneck of glutaraldehyde (GDA)-polymerization process. The orthogonal experiments were done on the basis of the early study of human placenta Hemoglobin (Hb)-crosslinked-GDA and three factors were selected including the molar ratio of GDA and Hb, Hb concentration, and the rate of the feeding GDA. The optimal match condition of polymerization process prepared for the purpose of lower mean molecular weight, content of super-weight molecule, and the content of dimer. The results showed that the molar ratio of GDA and Hb was the greatest influencing factor on the molecular weight distribution of polymerized-Hb, followed by the Hb concentration, and the last is the rate of feeding GDA. The optimum matching conditions had reached the objective that the mean molecular weight with 155.54 ± 5.79, the content of dimer with 17.23 ± 3.71, and content of super-weight molecule with 0.17 ± 0.09, and the results can be repeated in the 30 times expansion experiments. In order to investigate whether hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC) attenuates cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB)-induced cerebral damage. Male adult Beagle dogs were randomly divided into sham, control, and HBOC groups. After establishment of CPB model, hearts were arrested for 2 h and reperfused for 2 h. HBOC improved intracerebral O2 tensions and reduced the releases of biomarkers for cerebral damage, including neuron-specific enolase and S100β in both cerebrospinal fluid and serum. Moreover, HBOC attenuated the releases of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β after CPB. Therefore, our findings suggest that HBOC could reduce cerebral damage after CPB, which was probably associated with improvement of tissue O2 preload. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reactions are important synthetic manipulations allowing the construction of five-membered heterocycles. In this article, we report the cycloaddition of phosphonyl nitrile oxides with vinylphosphonate and phosphaalkyne to form the unexpected 2:1 cycloaddition product with excellent levels of regiocontrol product. This study aimed to explore the relationship between alterations in plasma metabolites and treatment responses amongst antipsychotic-naïve female patients with schizophrenia. A total of 38 antipsychotic-naïve female schizophrenia patients (ANS) and 19 healthy female controls (HC) were recruited. Plasma samples were obtained from all participants, and targeted metabolomics were measured with FIA-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS. The positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS) was used to assess the severity of psychotic symptoms before and after eight weeks of treatment. Receiver operator characteristics (ROC) curves were used to predict diagnostic and therapeutic responses. A total of 186 metabolites passed quality control procedures and were used in statistical analysis to identify potential biomarkers. Before treatment, the ANS patients had lower levels of γ -Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) and higher levels of Cholesteryl esters (CE) (20:3), Cholic Acid (CA) and Glycocholic Acid (GCA) compared to the HCs. These four differential metabonomic markers were synthesised into a combinatorial biomarker panel. This panel significantly distinguished ANS from HC. Moreover, this biomarker panel was able to effectively predict therapeutic responses. Our results suggest that plasma CE (20:3), CA, GCA, and GABA levels may be useful for diagnosing and predicting antipsychotic efficacy amongst female schizophrenia patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Phox (PX) domain-containing sorting nexins (SNXs) are emerging as important regulators of endocytic trafficking. Sorting nexin 27 (SNX27) is unique, as it contains a PDZ (Psd-95/Dlg/ZO1) domain. We show here that SNX27 is primarily targeted to the early endosome by interaction of its PX domain with PtdIns(3)P. Although targeted ablation of the SNX27 gene in mice did not significantly affect growth and survival during embryonic development, SNX27 plays an essential role in postnatal growth and survival. N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor 2C (NR2C) was identified as a novel SNX27-interacting protein, and this interaction is mediated by the PDZ domain of SNX27 and the C-terminal PDZ-binding motif of NR2C. Increased NR2C expression levels, together with impaired NR2C endocytosis in SNX27-/- neurons, indicate that SNX27 may function to regulate endocytosis and/or endosomal sorting of NR2C. This is consistent with a role of SNX27 as a general regulator for sorting of membrane proteins containing a PDZ-binding motif, and its absence may alter the trafficking of these proteins, leading to growth and survival defects. The exact mechanism of hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC)–related vasoactivity is still unclear. This study measured the isometric tension of dog arteries and large conductance Ca2+-activated K+(BKCa) channel currents in vascular smooth muscle cells after exposure to HBOC with increasing concentrations. Data indicated that the net tensions of arteries were dramatically elevated and this elevation was more prominent in coronary artery. Moreover, HBOC exhibited inhibitory effect on BKCachannel, which is strongly correlated with changes in vascular tension. The molybdenum blue method was used to determine the content of reduced vitamin C (Vc) in a solution of polymerized hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) of the human placenta. The conditions of absorption wavelength, HCl addition, and reaction time, were investigated. The results of validation experiments showed that under the optimized conditions, a standard curve was confirmed with good linearity of 0.9985, for the Vc amount ranging from 0-200 μg. The values for relative standard deviation ( RSD) of the precision and repeatability were both below 5%. Vc recovery was in the range of 97-102%. The intramolecular nucleophilic substitution of an activated phosphate diester, bis(p-nitrophenyl) phosphate (BNPP) as the nucleic acids substitute, was investigated. A macro-cyclic ligand and the corresponding Cu (II) and Ni (II) complexes were synthesized and characterized. The metallomicelles made up of macrocyclic divalent metal complex and micelle, as mimic hydrolytic metalloenzyme, was used in BNPP catalytic hydrolysis. The metallomicelles displayed higher catalytic activity although they do not attain the catalytic efficiency of enzymes. The analysis of specific absorption spectra showed that the course of the BNPP catalytic reaction was different from that of the BNPP spontaneous hydrolysis, and was an intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction. Based on the analytic result of the specific absorption spectrum, an intramolecular nucleophilic substitution mechanism of BNPP catalytic hydrolysis was proposed and a correlative kinetic mathematical model was established, and the corresponding thermodynamic and kinetic constant was calculated. A novel inhibition-based glucose oxidase (GOx) biosensor for environmental chromium(VI) detection is described. An electropolymerized aniline membrane has been prepared on a platinum electrode containing ferrocene as electron transfer mediator, on which GOx is cross-linked by glutaraldehyde. The mechanism of the redox reaction on the electrode and the performance of the sensor are studied. The sensor's response to glucose decreases when it is inhibited by chromium(VI), with a lower detection limit of 0.49 µg L -1 , and the linear response range is divided into two parts, one of which is 0.49-95.73 µg L -1 and the other is 95.73 µg -1 to8.05 mg L -1 . The enzyme membrane is shown to be completely reactivated after inhibition, retaining 90% activity over more than forty days. Interference to chromium(VI) determination from lead(II), copper(II), cadmium(II), chromium(III), cobalt(II), tin(II) and nickel(II) is found to be minimal, while high concentrations of mercury(II) and silver(I) may interfere with the determination of trace chromium(VI). Gramine can be intelligently and efficiently supplied with N, N-dimethylamino group and then reacted with the corresponding sulfonyl chlorides to synthesize N, N-dimethylarylsulfonamides. We herein designed and controlled synthesis of N, N-dimethylarylsulfonamide derivatives, and first reported the results of the nematicidal activity of 15 title compounds 3a-o against Meloidogyne incongnita in vitro, respectively. Among all of the title derivatives, compounds 3a, 3c, 3k, and 3o exhibited potent nematicidal activity with median lethal concentration (LC50) values ranging from 0.22 to 0.26 mg/L. Most noteworthy, N, N-dimethyl-4-methoxyphenylsulfonamide (3c) and N, N-dimethyl-8-quinolinesulfonamide (3o) showed the best promising and pronounced nematicidal activity, with LC50 values of 0.2381 and 0.2259 mg/L, respectively. Currently, human glioma tumors are mostly modeled in immunodeficient recipients; however, lack of interactions with adaptive immune system is a serious flaw, particularly in the era when immunotherapies dominate treatment strategies. Our group was the first to successfully establish the orthotopic transplantation of human glioblastoma (GBM) in immunocompetent mice by inducing immunological tolerance using a short-term, systemic costimulation blockade strategy (CTLA-4-Ig and MR1). In this study, we further validated the feasibility of this method by modeling pediatric diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) and two types of adult GBM (GBM1, GBM551), in mice with intact immune systems and immunodeficient mice. We found that all three glioma models were successfully established, with distinct difference in tumor growth patterns and morphologies, after orthotopic xenotransplantation in tolerance-induced immunocompetent mice. Long-lasting tolerance that is maintained for up to nearly 200 d in GBM551 confirmed the robustness of this model. Moreover, we found that tumors in immunocompetent mice displayed features more similar to the clinical pathophysiology found in glioma patients, characterized by inflammatory infiltration and strong neovascularization, as compared with tumors in immunodeficient mice. In summary, we have validated the robustness of the costimulatory blockade strategy for tumor modeling and successfully established three human glioma models including the pediatric DIPG whose preclinical study is particularly thwarted by the lack of proper animal models. Objectives: Circular RNA (circRNA), a covalently closed loop structure lacking poly-adenylated tails, has attracted attention with the rapid development of its detection techniques such as bioinformatics and RNA sequencing. CircRNA plays important roles in several cell signaling pathways that are associated with cancer biogenesis, including acting as miRNA sponges, transcriptional regulators, protein adaptors and protein translators. The role of circRNA in hematological malignancy has been revealed recently. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of circRNA in hematological malignancy. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted through Pubmed to summarize the published evidence on the circRNAs in hematological malignancies. English literature sources since 1976 were searched, using the terms circRNA, hematological malignancy. Results: CircRNAs can regulate the gene expression of hematological malignancies mainly through adsorbing several miRNAs. Some circRNAs are potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in hematological malignancies, such as acute myloid leukemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). This study was designed to investigate the effect of polymerized human placenta haemoglobin (PolyPHb) on cardiac dysfunction after severe burns. A total of 60 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Sham, Burn and Burn + PolyPHb groups. Rats were subjected to third-degree burns to 30% of total body surface area and the haemodynamics, cardiac enzyme release and aortic endothelium ultrastructure/function were measured. PolyPHb (0.5 gHb/kg) greatly improved mean arterial pressure, left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP), maximum LVDP increase and decrease rate and reduced left ventricular end-diastolic pressure as compared to the Burn group. The plasma levels of cardiac enzyme including CK-MB and troponin I were also significantly down-regulated in the Burn + PolyPHb group. In addition, PolyPHb treatment markedly restored the endothelium-dependent relaxation impaired by severe burns and pathological changes of endothelium in aorta. Therefore, our data suggest that PolyPHb can limit severe burn-induced myocardial injury, which is associated with protection of aortic endothelium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Jurassic magmatic and volcanic rocks are widespread along the west central Lhasa subterrane. However, the petrogenesis of these rocks is poorly understood because of lacking high-quality geochronology and geochemical data. Here, we present new zircon U-Pb age and Hf isotopic data, whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic data for the Songduole and Qiangnong plutons in Geji area. LA-ICP-MS dating of zircon yield crystallization ages of 172.1 ± 1.9 and 155.9 ± 1.2 Ma for the Songduole and Qiangnong plutons, respectively. Geochemically, Songduole and Qiangnong granodiorite are characterized by high MgO (2.63-3.49 wt%), high Mg# (49-50), and low TiO2 (0.48-0.57 wt%). Besides, all rocks show metaluminous, calc-alkaline signatures, with strong depletion of Nb, Ta, and Ti, enrichment of large-ion lithophile (e.g. Rb, Th, K), and a negative correlation between SiO2 and P2O5. All these features are indicative of arc-related I-type magmatism. Five samples from the Songduole granodiorite have whole rock (87Sr/86Sr)i of 0.71207-0.71257, εNd(t) values of −15.1 to −13.9, zircon εHf(t) values of −17.4 to −10.5, (206Pb/204Pb)t ratios of 18.402-18.854, (207Pb/204Pb)t ratios of 15.660-15.736, and (208Pb/204Pb)t ratios of 38.436-39.208. Samples from the Qiangnong granodiorite have (87Sr/86Sr)i of 0.71230-0.71252, εNd(t) values of −15.1 to −14.2, zircon εHf(t) values of −12.6 to −6.4, (206Pb/204Pb)t ratios of 18.688-18.766, (207Pb/204Pb)t ratios of 15.696-15.717, and (208Pb/204Pb)t ratios of 38.546-39.083. These geochemical signatures indicate that the two plutons most likely originated from partial melting of the ancient Lhasa lower crust with obvious inputs of mantle-derived melts. Combined with regional geology, our results indicate that the Jurassic magmatism in the west central Lhasa subterrane most likely resulted from the southward subduction of the Bangong Ocean lithosphere beneath the central Lhasa terrane. This study was designed to investigate whether resuscitation with polymerized human placenta hemoglobin (PolyPHb) extended survival and the efficacy of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) in a rat model of hemorrhagic shock. After withdrawal of 39 ml of blood/kg, rats were randomly resuscitated with PolyPHb/HES or HES alone. Systemic, hemodynamic, and blood gas parameters, tissue oxygenation, and plasma erythropoietin (EPO) were evaluated. The results showed that resuscitation with PolyPHb/HES doubled the survival rate and maintained relatively high blood pressure and tissue oxygenation when compared with the results obtained using HES 130 alone. A miniaturized tri-band bandpass filter using a quintuple-mode stub-loaded resonator and a folded half-wavelength resonator is presented. The characteristics of the quintuple-mode resonator are investigated by using even- and odd-mode analysis, generating tri-band response. By adding a half-wavelength resonator, the bandwidth of the second passband can be controlled easily. Three passbands of the filter are designed at 1.8, 2.4, and 3.5 GHz for global system for mobile communication, wireless local area networks, and worldwide interoperability for microwave access applications. The center frequencies of the three passbands can be independently controlled, and their bandwidths can be tuned properly by controlling the dimension parameters of the filter. In this study, lyophilization was applied to polymerized human placenta hemoglobin (PolyPHb) solution. The lyophilization process was carried out with freezing at − 70°C for 5 h and two phases of drying: the first phase of drying was carried out at −35°C-35°C for 16 h and the second phase at 35°C for 8 h. Hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, methemoglobin (MetHb) content, oxygen-carrying capacity, Fe3+ content, pH, UV spectrum, average molecular weight and its distribution, circular dichroism, SDS-PAGE, P50, crystal osmotic pressure, colloid osmotic pressure, zeta potential, average particle size, and other indicators were measured before and after lyophilization. Residual water content and rehydration time of the lyophilized products were also evaluated. All the indicators of lyophilized samples showed that the physical and biochemical properties of PolyPHb are not markedly changed before and after lyophilization. Objectives: To reduce the mean molecular weight and to increase the effective polymerization ratio (REff) of polymerized human placenta hemoglobin (PolyPHb). Methods: Three factors of GDA-PolyPHb process such as the approach of feeding GDA (FGDA), hemoglobin concentration ([Hb]) and the molar ratio of GDA, and hemoglobin(RGDA:Hb) were investigated. Finally, the expansion experiments were conducted with optimal conditions. Results: The data showed that the HBOCs with the REff of 67.35% and lower of 162.70 kDa were prepared by optimal conditions. A coupling matrix synthesised approach for symmetric dual-band bandpass filter is presented in this article. The dual-band filter is viewed as a single-band filter with a transmission zero inside the pass-band. Separately considering the odd and even order of each single filter that composed symmetric dual-band bandpass filter, the corresponding transmission function is shown by analysing an additional transmission zero produced. This study was designed to investigate whether polymerized human placenta hemoglobin (PolyPHb) attenuated hemorrhagic shock-induced lung injury. A mean arterial pressure (MAP) of 30mmHg was maintained for 60 min. Then, all the rats were randomly resuscitated with hetastarch, whole blood, or PolyPHb. The result indicated that PolyPHb greatly improved the MAP and pulmonary function, and significantly reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines, histopathological changes, and pulmonary edema. Therefore, our findings suggest that PolyPHb could reduce pulmonary injury after hemorrhagic shock, and this effect was probably associated with the depressed inflammatory response. Metallomicelles made from two Schiff base manganese(III) complexes (MnL1 and MnL2) and surfactants (CTAB and Brij35) were used as mimetic peroxidase in the catalytic oxidation of phenol by H2O2. The catalytic activity of the complexes (MnL1 and MnL2) were investigated. The mechanism and a kinetic mathematic model of the phenol catalytic oxidation were also studied. The results show the optimum acidity of the enzyme-like system in the paper is ca. pH 7.0, the optimum temperature which is ca. 35°C and the optimum molar ratio of H2O2 to the complex is ca. 30 in the complexes-H2O2-buffered solution; the Schiff base manganese(III) complexes and their metallomicelles as peroxidase mimics exhibit good catalytic activity and similar catalytic character to natural enzyme. A novel inhibition-based amperometric biosensor of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) for phenylhydrazine detection is described. The multilayer-film modified sensor is prepared by a layer-by-layer deposition of concanavalin A (Con A) and HRP on glassy carbon electrode (GCE), which is forced by the bioaffinity between Con A and mannose residues on the surface of HRP molecule. Hydroquinone is chosen as electron mediator in the system. The performance of the sensor and the optimum experimental conditions are studied. The lower detection limit of the inhibition-based sensor for phenylhydrazine is 1.7 × 10 -6 M, and the linear response range is divided into two parts, one of which is 1.7 × 10 -6 to 1.07 × 10 -5 M, and the other 1.07 × 10 -5 to 6.98 × 10 -5 M. The HRP sensor can be reactivated after inhibition and remains more than 91% activity after half a month of frequent running. Interference from phenol, aniline, hydroxylamine, Hg(II), Cd(II) and Bi(III) is found to be minimal, while a high concentration of hydrazine anhydrous, methylhydrazine and 1,1-dimethylhydrazine may interfere with the determination of trace phenylhydrazine.
