This study is about the Başkale Jews, who lived in the Başkale district of Van province for many years and had no presence in the region as of the second half of the 20th century with the migration of the last remaining families. According to historical sources and the information we obtained as a result of the interview; It is known that the Jews of Van-Baskale came to the region for compulsory reasons and after living in the region for a long time, they gradually migrated to other geographies for various reasons. During their time in the region, the Jews used Aramaic as their language; however, it is known that they can also speak Kurdish and Turkish. The shelter and indoor architecture of the region based on mud-brick architecture and the large family structure are common features for all ethnic groups of the period, including the Jews. Accordingly; Based on the similar cultural structure of the geographical region, the traditions, beliefs and rituals of the Jews of Van Baskale also have similarities with other cultural groups of the region. As a result, it has been understood that the Jews of Van-Baskale, who define themselves as Nash Didan, came to this region through Mesopotamia, Iraq and Iran, and that they built a social, cultural, religious and economic life in Başkale for at least 200 years, according to the earliest data.
