The Bright Transient Survey (BTS) aims to obtain a classification spectrum for all bright (m peak ≤ 18.5 mag) extragalactic transients found in the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) public survey. BTS critically relies on visual inspection ("scanning") to select targets for spectroscopic follow-up, which, while effective, has required a significant time investment over the past ∼5 yr of ZTF operations. We present BTSbot, a multimodal convolutional neural network, which provides a bright transient score to individual ZTF detections using their image data and 25 extracted features. BTSbot is able to eliminate the need for daily human scanning by automatically identifying and requesting spectroscopic follow-up observations of new bright transient candidates. BTSbot recovers all bright transients in our test split and performs on par with scanners in terms of identification speed (on average, ∼1 hr quicker than scanners). We also find that BTSbot is not significantly impacted by any data shift by comparing performance across a concealed test split and a sample of very recent BTS candidates. BTSbot has been integrated into Fritz and Kowalski, ZTF's first-party marshal and alert broker, and now sends automatic spectroscopic follow-up requests for the new transients it identifies. Between 2023 December and 2024 May, BTSbot selected 609 sources in real time, 96% of which were real extragalactic transients. With BTSbot and other automation tools, the BTS workflow has produced the first fully automatic end-to-end discovery and classification of a transient, representing a significant reduction in the human time needed to scan. BACKGROUND: Whey protein isolate (WPI) generally represents poor functional properties such as thermal stability, emulsifying activity and antioxidant activity near its isoelectric point or high temperatures, which limit its application in the food industry. The preparation of WPI–polysaccharide covalent conjugates based on Maillard reaction is a promising method to improve the physical and chemical stability and functional properties of WPI. In this research, WPI–inulin conjugates were prepared through wet heating method and ultrasound method and their structural and functional properties were examined. RESULTS: In conjugates, the free amino acid content was reduced, the high molecular bands were emerged at sodium dodecyl sulfate‐polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS‐PAGE), new C–N bonds were formed in Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and fluorescence intensity was reduced compared with WPI. Furthermore, the result of circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy also showed that the secondary structure of conjugates was changed. Conjugates with ultrasound treatment had better structural properties compared with those prepared by wet heating treatment. The functional properties such as thermal stability, emulsifying activity index (EAI), emulsion stability (ES) and antioxidant activity of conjugates with wet heating treatment were significantly improved compared with WPI. The EAI and ES of conjugates with ultrasound treatment were the highest, but the thermal stability and antioxidant activity were only close to that of the conjugates with wet heating treatment for 2 h. CONCLUSION: This study revealed that WPI–inulin conjugates prepared with ultrasound or wet heating method not only changed the structural characteristics of WPI but also could promote its functional properties including thermal stability, EAI, ES and antioxidant activity. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. Multi-material additive manufacturing (MMAM) is garnering escalating interest. Yet, joining dissimilar materials faces formidable challenges due to solubility limitations and divergences in thermophysical properties. Taking the joining of high-strength steel (HSS) and Ti6Al4V (TC4) as an example, this work seeks to address various challenges encountered in MMAM. An exhaustive inquiry was undertaken to scrutinize the effects of various joining strategies (direct joining, composition gradient paths, and interlayer strategy) and deposition strategies (deposition sequence, interlayer thickness, and process parameters) on the AM-induced bonding of HSS to TC4. The findings demonstrate that these advanced strategic designs can effectively mitigate challenges arising from disparities in material compatibility and thermophysical properties between HSS and TC4. Leveraging rigorous thermodynamic analyses and the strategic orchestration of building techniques, three HSS–Cu10Sn–Nb–TC4 samples were successfully fabricated via laser-directed energy deposition (LDED), each manifesting tensile strengths exceeding 200 MPa. This achievement heralds a notable leap forward in the amalgamation of materials, particularly high-strength steel and titanium alloys, which could provide valuable insights into other MMAM structures. Reported herein is an electrochemical strategy for N-sulfonylation of azoles with sulfonyl hydrazides, offering efficient access to valuable N-sulfonated azoles. Organic radical species were involved in the process and EPR experiments provided evidence for the formation of intermediates in situ. The electrochemical reaction features metal-free, mild conditions, and a broad substrate scope (>70 examples). Crocetin as one of the main components of saffron possesses a lot of pharmacological effects, especially the beneficial effects in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. However, the pharmacokinetics of crocetin in the pathological state of hyperlipidemia has not been reported. In present study, the pharmacokinetics of crocetin in hyperlipidemia rats after oral administration of crocetin was investigated and the possible mechanisms for the pharmacokinetics were explored. High-fat diet was used to induce hyperlipidemia in rats. The pharmacokinetics of crocetin was investigated in hyperlipidemia and normal rats after oral and intravenous administration of crocetin, and the possible mechanisms of the pharmacokinetic changes were investigated in terms of metabolism and absorption using in vitro incubation with liver microsomes and the everted gut sac method, respectively. Results indicated that the AUCs of crocetin in hyperlipidemia rats after oral administration of crocetin were remarkably decreased when compared with those in normal rats. Moreover, crocetin was also metabolized more rapidly in the liver microsomes of hyperlipidemia rats and intestinal absorption of crocetin was significantly reduced in hyperlipidemia rats. It suggested that the remarkably decreased AUCs of crocetin in hyperlipidemia rats might partly result from the result of faster metabolic elimination and reduced absorption of crocetin in the hyperlipidemia pathological state. And the present investigations conducted on rats demonstrate that further investigations into the kinetics of crocetin in humans with hyperlipidemia are necessary in order to ensure an adequate dosage in this indication. Emerging pollutants such as microplastics in water environments readily accumulate microorganisms on their surfaces, forming biofilms and concentrating antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). Consequently, microplastic biofilms have attracted the attention of researchers. Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) of ARGs is one of the primary ways that bacteria acquire antibiotic resistance. Most studies focus on the effects of nanomaterials on suspended bacteria, but microplastic biofilms as hotspots for horizontal gene transfer also warrant significant investigation. This study primarily explored and compared the effects of nano-titanium dioxide on the conjugation transfer frequency of ARGs in suspended bacteria and microplastic biofilms. Nano-titanium dioxide could promote ARG conjugation in both suspended bacteria and microplastic biofilms, with a greater effect on the former. The mechanism involved nano-titanium dioxide promoting the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in suspended and biofilm bacteria, increasing the synthesis of outer membrane proteins, enhancing the cell membrane permeability, and elevating the expression levels of conjugation-related genes, thereby facilitating the conjugation transfer of ARGs. Biofilm bacteria, being heavily encased and protected by extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), exhibit greater resistance to external environmental pressure, resulting in the weaker impact of nano-titanium dioxide on biofilm bacteria compared to suspended bacteria. This study reveals the risk of ARG conjugation transfer within microplastic biofilms induced by nanomaterials, providing valuable insights into the risks of microplastic and antibiotic resistance dissemination in water environments. Compared to the traditional wet-mate underwater power supply method, Magnetic Coupling Resonant Wireless Power Transfer (MCR-WPT) technology boasts advantages such as excellent insulation, high safety, and convenient operation, showing promising application prospects in the field of power supply for underwater vehicles and other mobile underwater devices. In order to explore the transmission characteristics of this technology underwater, this article first establishes a traditional mathematical model, and then modifies the underwater model through analysis of changes in coil self-inductance and mutual inductance, as well as the impact of eddy current losses. Using the modified mathematical model of the underwater MCR-WPT system, the transmission characteristics are analyzed, and simulations and experimental validations are performed using MATLAB R2022a software. In the study of frequency characteristics, it is found that the system operates optimally when both ends of the circuit work at the resonant state; that is, when finput = fresonance = 100 kHz, the output performance is at its best, and the optimal resonant frequency significantly improves power and transmission efficiency. When the input frequency is less than 87.3 kHz or greater than 122.9 kHz, the output power decreases to less than half of the maximum power. In the investigation of load effects, the optimal load for maximizing system output power was identified, but the load that maximizes transmission efficiency is different from this optimal load. In this paper, the effects of settlement on force, track deformation, and train dynamics to determine the settlement thresholds of ballastless track-concrete box subgrade (BTCBS) are studied. Firstly, this study introduces four settlement types, namely V-shape, box rolling, box faulting, and trapezoid settlement. The nonlinear finite element model (FEM) of BTCBS and the train-ballastless track-concrete box subgrade (TBTCBS) model considering nonlinear contact between track slabs and base slabs are established. Then, the effects of settlement on fastener force, track deformation, and vehicle dynamics are studied. According to the calculated results and China's codes, the settlement limit values of BTCBS can be obtained. The results indicate that the settlement thresholds with box rolling and faulting are controlled by vertical force of fasteners, and the settlement limit values with V-shape and trapezoid settlement are controlled by 10 m chord versine of vertical irregularity (CVVI). The suggested settlement limit values of BTCBS for box faulting, box rolling, trapezoid, and V-shape settlement are respectively 2.48 mm, 2.55 mm, 17.43 mm, and 8.79 mm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Do network connections between government officials and administrative units facilitate efficient land use contracting across jurisdictions? This article leverages data from a groundbreaking policy in China where a strict quota-bound land use policy was replaced with an alternative, allowing between-county trade in land conversion quotas. We unpack the determinants of the boundary between trading and autarkic jurisdictions and unveil leader-related drivers of transaction costs between jurisdictions in a gravity-style estimation. We catalogue personal and career histories of county-level leaders and present evidence that leader networks derived from employment history are robustly trade-facilitating but nonworkplace links are not. Introduction: A novel indicator of inflammation is the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), and liver dysfunction is linked to the advancement of inflammation. In light of this, this study aims to look into any potential connections between SII and markers of liver injury. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using the National Health and Nutrition Examination (NHANES) dataset for 2017–2020. The linear relationship between SII and markers of liver injury was examined using multiple linear regression models. Examining threshold effects and fitted smoothed curves were utilized to describe nonlinear connections. Results: A total of 8213 adults aged 18–80 years participated in this population-based study. In the fully adjusted model, SII maintained a negative association with ALT(β = -0.003, 95%CI:-0.005, -0.002, P<0.00001), AST(β = -0.004, 95% CI:-0.005, -0.002, P<0.00001), and GGT(β = -0.004, 95% CI:-0.007, -0.000, P = 0.03791) and a positive association with ALP (β = 0.005, 95% CI:0.003, 0.007, P<0.00001). In subgroup analyses, it was found that SII remained negatively correlated with ALT, AST and GGT in gender, age and body mass index. SII was positively correlated with ALP at BMI≥25(kg/m2)(β = 0.005, 95% CI:0.003, 0.008, P = 0.00001), and was negatively correlated with ALT(β = -0.004, 95% CI:-0.005, -0.002, P<0.00001), AST(β = -0.004, 95% CI:-0.005, -0.003, P<0.00001) and GGT(β = -0.004, 95% CI:-0.008, -0.000, P = 0.02703) at BMI≥25, whereas no significant correlation was observed at BMI<25 (all P-values>0.05). Furthermore, the association between SII and markers of liver injury was nonlinear. By using a two-stage linear regression model for analysis, a U-shaped relationship was found to exist between SII and ALT with a turning point of 818.40(1,000 cells/μl). The inflection points of SII with AST and GGT were 451.20 (1,000 cells/μl) and 443.33 (1,000 cells/μl), respectively, and no significant inflection point with ALP was observed. Interaction tests demonstrated that SII correlation with ALT, AST, ALP, and GGT was not significantly different between strata (all p for interaction>0.05). Conclusions: The research findings suggested that there was a negative correlation between SII and ALT, AST and GGT, and a positive correlation with ALP. Micronutrients are clinically important in managing COVID-19, and numerous studies have been conducted, but inconsistent findings exist. To explore the association between micronutrients and COVID-19. PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library and Scopus for study search on July 30, 2022 and October 15, 2022. Literature selection, data extraction and quality assessment were performed in a double-blinded, group discussion format. Meta-analysis with overlapping associations were reconsolidated using random effects models, and narrative evidence was performed in tabular presentations. 57 reviews and 57 latest original studies were included. 21 reviews and 53 original studies were of moderate to high quality. Vitamin D, vitamin B, zinc, selenium, and ferritin levels differed between patients and healthy people. Vitamin D and zinc deficiencies increased COVID-19 infection by 0.97-fold/0.39-fold and 1.53-fold. Vitamin D deficiency increased severity 0.86-fold, while low vitamin B and selenium levels reduced severity. Vitamin D and calcium deficiencies increased ICU admission by 1.09 and 4.09-fold. Vitamin D deficiency increased mechanical ventilation by 0.4-fold. Vitamin D, zinc, and calcium deficiencies increased COVID-19 mortality by 0.53-fold, 0.46-fold, and 5.99-fold, respectively. The associations between vitamin D, zinc, and calcium deficiencies and adverse evolution of COVID-19 were positive, while the association between vitamin C and COVID-19 was insignificant. We present a new set of computational tools that enable accurate and widely applicable 3D segmentation of nuclei in various 3D digital organs. We have developed an approach for ground truth generation and iterative training of 3D nuclear segmentation models, which we applied to popular CellPose, PlantSeg and StarDist algorithms. We provide two high-quality models trained on plant nuclei that enable 3D segmentation of nuclei in datasets obtained from fixed or live samples, acquired from different plant and animal tissues, and stained with various nuclear stains or fluorescent protein-based nuclear reporters. We also share a diverse high-quality training dataset of about 10,000 nuclei. Furthermore, we advanced the MorphoGraphX analysis and visualization software by, among other things, providing a method for linking 3D segmented nuclei to their surrounding cells in 3D digital organs. We found that the nuclear-tocell volume ratio varies between different ovule tissues and during the development of a tissue. Finally, we extended the PlantSeg 3D segmentation pipeline with a proofreading tool that uses 3D segmented nuclei as seeds to correct cell segmentation errors in difficult-to-segment tissues. Background: In recent years, with benefits from the continuous improvement of clinical technology and the advantage of fertility preservation, the application of embryo cryopreservation has been growing rapidly worldwide. However, amidst this growth, concerns about its safety persist. Numerous studies have highlighted the elevated risk of perinatal complications linked to frozen embryo transfer (FET), such as large for gestational age (LGA) and hypertensive disorders during pregnancy. Thus, it is imperative to explore the potential risk of embryo cryopreservation and its related mechanisms. Methods: Given the strict ethical constraints on clinical samples, we employed mouse models in this study. Three experimental groups were established: the naturally conceived (NC) group, the fresh embryo transfer (Fresh-ET) group, and the FET group. Blastocyst formation rates and implantation rates were calculated post-embryo cryopreservation. The impact of FET on fetal growth was evaluated upon fetal and placental weight. Placental RNA-seq was conducted, encompassing comprehensive analyses of various comparisons (Fresh-ET vs. NC, FET vs. NC, and FET vs. Fresh-ET). Results: Reduced rates of blastocyst formation and implantation were observed post-embryo cryopreservation. Fresh-ET resulted in a significant decrease in fetal weight compared to NC group, whereas FET reversed this decline. RNA-seq analysis indicated that the majority of the expression changes in FET were inherited from Fresh-ET, and alterations solely attributed to embryo cryopreservation were moderate. Unexpectedly, certain genes that showed alterations in Fresh-ET tended to be restored in FET. Further analysis suggested that this regression may underlie the improvement of fetal growth restriction in FET. The expression of imprinted genes was disrupted in both FET and Fresh-ET groups. Conclusion: Based on our experimental data on mouse models, the impact of embryo cryopreservation is less pronounced than other in vitro manipulations in Fresh-ET. Background: The Minqin Oasis, which is located in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, China, faces a very serious land desertification problem, with about 94.5% of its total area desertified. Accordingly, it is crucial to implement ecological restoration policies such as cropland abandonment in this region. In abandoned croplands, abiotic factors such as soil properties may become more important than biotic factors in driving vegetation succession. However, the connections between soil properties and vegetation succession remain unclear. To fill this knowledge gap, this study investigated these connections to explore major factors that affected vegetation succession, which is meaningful to designing management measures to restore these degraded ecosystems. Methods: This study investigated seven 1–29-year-old abandoned croplands using the "space for time" method in Minqin Oasis. Vegetation succession was classified into different stages using a canonical correlation analysis (CCA) and two-way indicator species analysis (Twinspan). The link between soil properties and vegetation succession was analyzed using CCA. The primary factors shaping community patterns of vegetation succession were chosen by the "Forward selection" in CCA. The responses of dominant species to soil properties were analyzed using generalized additive models (GAMs). Results: Dominant species turnover occurred obviously after cropland abandonment. Vegetation succession can be classified into three stages (i.e., early, intermediate, and late successional stages) with markedly different community composition and diversity. The main drivers of vegetation succession among soil properties were soil salinity and saturated soil water content and they had led to different responses of the dominant species in early and late successional stages. During the development of vegetation succession, community composition became simpler, and species diversity decreased significantly, which was a type of regressive succession. Magnetically coupled resonant wireless power transfer (MCR-WPT) technology offers longer effective transmission distances and higher efficiency compared to traditional charging methods, making it better suited to the prolonged and efficient operation of autonomous underwater vehicles. This paper first establishes a traditional mathematical model and then refines it while analyzing the variations in the self-inductance and mutual inductance of underwater coils. To further enhance the system's performance, a multi-objective optimization of the coupling mechanism is conducted. An orthogonal experiment is employed to determine the effects of various influencing factors on the coils' self-inductance and mutual inductance. Subsequently, an RBF neural network is used to create a regression prediction model based on the results of the orthogonal experiment. The NSGA-II algorithm is then applied for the multi-objective optimization of the coupling mechanism, resulting in a Pareto front solution set. The optimized efficiency is 93.35%, representing an approximately 6% improvement over the original system, with the power density increasing from 1.267 × 10 6   W / m 3 before optimization to 4.782 × 10 6   W / m 3 after optimization. The main purpose of this paper was to reveal the effect of aluminum (Al)-based coagulants on enhanced coagulation for the removal of algae and the synergistic optimization mechanism among different Al species. The formation, breakage, and regrowth processes of algal coagulation flocs formed by a series of monomeric Al-based coagulants (Al2(SO4)3, Al13, and Al30), Al13/Al30 composite coagulant and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)/Al13 (PDADMAC/Al13) composite coagulant were studied. Results indicated that Al13 mainly employed a charge neutralization mechanism, which was conducive to the destabilization of algae and the regeneration of flocs, while Al30 mainly employed a sweep flocculation mechanism, which was conducive to the formation of algae and the strength of flocs. Meanwhile, the charge neutralization was the main mechanism during the algae coagulation process because it could effectively remove the soluble microbial products (SMP) component in the extracellular organic matter (EOM). Therefore, Al13 could achieve a higher coagulation performance than other monomeric Al-based coagulants. The Al13/Al30 composite coagulant could make up for the deficiency of the sweep flocculation mechanism in Al13 and charge neutralization mechanism in Al30, and achieve the best synergistic optimization performance at Al13:Al30-7:3. Additionally, PDADMAC, as a polymer, could further enhance the charge neutralization ability of Al13 at low dosages and the sweep flocculation ability of Al13 at high dosages, respectively. However, an excessive dosage would lead to charge reversal and thus reduce the coagulation effect. Therefore, controlling the dosage was key when using Al-composite coagulants. The application of intracerebroventricular injection of streptozotocin (ICV-STZ) is considered a useful animal model to mimic the onset and progression of sporadic Alzheimer's disease (sAD). In rodents, on day 7 of the experiment, the animals exhibit depression-like behaviors. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), a rate-limiting enzyme catalyzing the conversion of tryptophan (Trp) to kynurenine (Kyn), is closely related to depression and AD. The present study aimed to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms of preliminary depression-like behaviors in ICV-STZ rats in two distinct cerebral regions of the medial prefrontal cortex, the prelimbic cortex (PrL) and infralimbic cortex (IL), both presumably involved in AD progression in this model, with a focus on IDO-related Kyn pathways. The results showed an increased Kyn/Trp ratio in both the PrL and IL of ICV-STZ rats, but, intriguingly, abnormalities in downstream metabolic pathways were different, being associated with distinct biological effects. In the PrL, the neuroprotective branch of the Kyn pathway was attenuated, as evidenced by a decrease in the kynurenic acid (KA) level and Kyn aminotransferase II (KAT II) expression, accompanied by astrocyte alterations, such as the decrease in glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)-positive cells and increase in morphological damage. In the IL, the neurotoxicogenic branch of the Kyn pathway was enhanced, as evidenced by an increase in the 3-hydroxy-kynurenine (3-HK) level and kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO) expression paralleled by the overactivation of microglia, reflected by an increase in ionized calcium-binding adaptor molecule 1 (Iba1)-positive cells and cytokines with morphological alterations. Synaptic plasticity was attenuated in both subregions. Additionally, microinjection of the selective IDO inhibitor 1-Methyl-DL-tryptophan (1-MT) in the PrL or IL alleviated depression-like behaviors by reversing these different abnormalities in the PrL and IL. These results suggest that the antidepressant-like effects linked to Trp metabolism changes induced by 1-MT in the PrL and IL occur through different pathways, specifically by enhancing the neuroprotective branch in the PrL and attenuating the neurotoxicogenic branch in the IL, involving distinct glial cells. Aim: To investigate the associations of individual and combined healthy lifestyle factors (HLS) with the risk of stroke in individuals with diabetes in China. Methods: This prospective analysis included 41 314 individuals with diabetes [15 191 from the Comprehensive Research on the Prevention and Control of the Diabetes (CRPCD) project and 26 123 from the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) study]. Associations of lifestyle factors, including cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, diet, body shape and sleep duration, with the risk of stroke, intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) and ischaemic stroke (IS) were assessed using Cox proportional hazard models. Results: During median follow‐up periods of 8.02 and 9.05 years, 2499 and 4578 cases of stroke, 2147 and 4024 of IS, and 160 and 728 of ICH were documented in individuals with diabetes in the CRPCD and CKB cohorts, respectively. In the CRPCD cohort, patients with ≥5 HLS had a 14% lower risk of stroke (hazard ratio (HR): 0.86, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.75‐0.98) than those with ≤2 HLS. In the CKB cohort, the adjusted HR (95% CI) for patients with ≥5 HLS were 0.74 (0.66‐0.83) for stroke, 0.74 (0.66‐0.83) for IS, and 0.57 (0.42‐0.78) for ICH compared with those with ≤2 HLS. The pooled adjusted HR (95% CI) comparing patients with ≥5 HLS versus ≤2 HLS was 0.79 (0.69‐0.92) for stroke, 0.80 (0.68‐0.93) for IS, and 0.60 (0.46‐0.78) for ICH. As a critical activity in occupational risk management, the occupational health and safety risk assessment (OHSRA) aims at assessing occupational hazards in the workplace and prioritizing them to ensure employees' safety and reduce occupational risk to an acceptable level. In this paper, we develop a new integrated OHSRA model for the risk evaluation and prioritization of occupational hazards based on probabilistic linguistic information and social network consensus analysis. The probabilistic linguistic term sets are applied to handle the hesitant risk evaluations of occupational hazards provided by experts. A combinative distance-based assessment technique is introduced for determining the risk priority of the identified occupational hazards. Additionally, the social network consensus analysis with minimum adjustment distance is used to help individual experts reach consensus. Finally, a healthcare case study is implemented for illustrating the developed OHSRA model and its effectiveness is validated with a sensitivity analysis and a comparative analysis. Herein, we introduced a nitrogen-alkali lignin-doped phenolic resin (N@ALnPR) to produce palladium nanoparticles through an in situ reduction of palladium in an aqueous phase, without the need for additional reagents or a reducing atmosphere. The phenolic resin nanospheres and the resulting palladium nanoparticles were extensively characterized. Alkali lignin created a highly conducive environment for nitrogen incorporation, dispersion, reduction, and stabilization of palladium, leading to a distinct catalytic performance of palladium nanoparticles in vanillin hydrodeoxygenation. Under specific conditions of 1 mmol of vanillin, 40 mg of catalyst, 1 MPa H2, 90 °C, and 3 h, the optimized Pd/N@AL30PR catalyst exhibited a nearly complete conversion of vanillin, 98.9% selectivity toward p-creosol, and good stability for multiple reuses. Multiferroic materials have important research significance in the fields of magnetic random-access memory, ferroelectric random-access memory, resistive random-access memory, and neuromorphic computing devices due to their excellent and diverse physical properties. In this work, a solution of Bi2FeMnO6 was prepared using a solution-based method, and an Au/Bi2FeMnO6/TiO2 heterostructure device was fabricated on a Si substrate. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy data indicate that the Bi2FeMnO6 films have hexagonal R3c symmetry structures. The Bi2FeMnO6 film exhibits ferroelectricity with a fine remanent polarization. In addition, the Bi2FeMnO6-based devices have excellent switching ratios of 6.37 × 105. A larger switching ratio can provide a multi-resistance state for the device, which is beneficial for the simulation of synapses. Hence, it effectively emulates excitatory postsynaptic currents, paired-pulse facilitation, and long-term plasticity of synapses and achieves recognition accuracy of 95% in neuromorphic computing. Chemotherapy resistance in cancer is an essential factor leading to high mortality rates. Tumor multidrug resistance arises as a result of the autophagy process. Our previous study found that compound 1-nitro-2 acyl anthraquinone-leucine (C2) exhibited excellent anti-colorectal cancer (CRC) activity involving autophagy and apoptosis-related proteins, whereas its underlying mechanism remains unclear. A notable aspect of this study is how C2 overcomes the multidrug susceptibility of HCT116/L-OHP, a colon cancer cell line that is resistant to both in vitro and in vivo oxaliplatin (trans-/-diaminocyclohexane oxalatoplatinum; L-OHP). In a xenograft tumor mouse model, we discovered that the mixture of C2 and L-OHP reversed the resistance of HCT116/L-OHP cells to L-OHP and inhibited tumor growth; furthermore, C2 down-regulated the gene expression levels of P-gp and BCRP and decreased P-gp's drug efflux activity. It is important to note that while C2 re-sensitized the HCT116/L-OHP cells to L-OHP for apoptosis, it also triggered a protective autophagic pathway. The expression levels of cleaved caspase-3 and Beclin 1 steadily rose. Expression of PI3K, phosphorylated AKT, and mTOR were decreased, while p53 increased. We demonstrated that the anthraquinone derivative C2 acts as an L-OHP sensitizer and reverses resistance to L-OHP in HCT116/L-OHP cells. Introduction: Mobile social media is a new type of online media that is participatory, open, and communicative, among other characteristics. Due to the increasing popularity of social media, this technology has become an indispensable part of people's social lives. This study aims to examine the relationship between childhood psychological maltreatment and social media addiction among university students as well as the mediating role of fear of missing out and the moderating effect of left-behind experience in this context. Material and methods: A voluntary anonymous online survey of 1694 university students was conducted using the Childhood Psychological Maltreatment Scale, the Fear of Missing Out Scale, and the Social Media Addiction Scale. Results: First, significant positive correlations were observed between childhood psychological maltreatment and both fear of missing out and social media addiction among university students. Fear of missing out partially mediated the relationship between childhood psychological maltreatment and social media addiction. Second, left-behind experience was found to moderate the direct path from childhood psychological maltreatment to social media addiction as well as the first half of the mediating effect of missed anxiety. Conclusions: Childhood psychological maltreatment can predict social media addiction among university students not only directly but also indirectly through the mediating role of missed anxiety. The direct effect of childhood psychological maltreatment on social media addiction is moderated by left-behind experience. The achievement of valuable utilization of lignin will greatly alleviate the energy crisis. In this study, a series of supported bimetallic catalysts (NixZn1−x/ZrO2-MgO) were prepared and their physicochemical properties were investigated by means of SEM, XRD, XPS, BET, NH3-TPD, and H2-TPR analysis. This paper explored the effects of different Ni/Zn ratios, reaction temperatures (180 ~ 240 °C), and reaction time (2, 4, 6, and 8 h) on alkali lignin catalytic hydrogenolysis. The results showed that the highest bio-oil yield gained was 65.22 wt% under the conditions of Ni0.75Zn0.25/ZrO2-MgO catalyst at 240 °C for 6 h. The component of lignin-derived bio-oils was also analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by GC/MS and GC/FID, respectively. It was demonstrated that the synergistic effect between Ni and Zn species contributed to the prepared catalyst having a high activity and good selectivities for phenolic compounds with a yield of 13.22 wt%. In addition, formic acid was the primary hydrogen donor in the system and isopropanol was the reaction medium as well as the secondary hydrogen donor, which facilitated the reduction of external H2 supply requirements. The catalytic stability was finally tested, and results indicated that Ni0.75Zn0.25/ZrO2-MgO still retained good catalytic performance after five cycles. By optimizing the reaction conditions and proposing the possible depolymerization route, this paper will provide an experimental basis for lignin catalytic hydrogenolysis and reliable reference for valorizing industrial lignin to value-added chemicals based on non-noble metal catalysts. Esophageal pressure (Peso) is one of the most common and minimally invasive methods used to assess the respiratory and lung mechanics in patients receiving mechanical ventilation. However, the Peso measurement is contaminated by cardiogenic oscillations (CGOs), which cannot be easily eliminated in real-time. The field of study dealing with the elimination of CGO from Peso signals is still in the early stages of its development. In this study, we present an adaptive filtering-based method by constructing a reference signal based on the heart rate and sine function to remove CGOs in real-time. The proposed technique is tested using clinical data acquired from 20 patients admitted to the intensive care unit. Lung compliance (QUOTE) and esophageal pressure swings (△Pes) are used to evaluate the performance and efficiency of the proposed technique. The CGO can be efficiently suppressed when the constructional reference signal contains the fundamental, and second and third harmonic frequencies of the heart rate signal. The analysis of the data of 8 patients with controlled mechanical ventilation reveals that the standard deviation/mean of the QUOTE is reduced by 28.4–79.2% without changing the QUOTE and the △Pes measurement is more accurate, with the use of our proposed technique. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is a vital ɷ-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) for human body with various physiological functions. In this study, we proposed an adaptive evolutionary strategy based on high-temperature and high-oxygen two-factor stress to increase the EPA production capacity of Schizochytrium. High-temperature stress was used to increase EPA yield, and high oxygen was implemented to continuously stimulate cell growth and lipid accumulation. The biomass and EPA production of ALE-D50 reached 35.33 g/L and 1.54 g/L, which were 43.85% and 71.11% higher than that of the original strain, respectively. Lower in vivo reactive oxygen species levels indicated that the evolved strain possessed stronger antioxidant activity. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry metabolomics showed that enhanced glucose consumption and glycolysis metabolism, as well as a weakened tricarboxylic acid cycle and reduced amino acid metabolic tributaries in the evolved strain, might be associated with increased growth and EPA synthesis. Finally, the lipid production and EPA production in a fed-batch fermentation were further increased to 48.93 g/L and 3.55 g/L, improving by 54.30% and 90.86%, respectively. Confidential computing emerges as a crucial security technology to solve security and privacy problem, and it is also a hot subject of in contemporary security technologies. Leveraging collaborative security in both hardware and software, it builds a trusted execution environment to ensure confidentiality and integrity protection for data in use. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the development process of confidential computing, summarizing its current research status and issues, which focuses on the security requirements for data security and privacy protection. Furthermore, it deeply analyses the common technical features of confidential computing, and proposes a trusted confidential computing architecture based on collaborative hardware and software trust. Then, it elaborates on the research status and issues of confidential computing from four aspects: hardware security, architecture and key technologies, applications, and standards and evaluation. Finally, this paper provides a synthesis and outlook for the future development of confidential computing. Transient surveys routinely detect supernovae (SNe) without obvious host galaxies. To understand the demographics of these 'hostless' SNe and to constrain the possible host properties, we identify 161 SNe reported to the Transient Name Server since 2016 that do not have hosts catalogued from pre-explosion wide-field galaxy surveys. Using forced aperture photometry, we detect excess flux around only 56 of these SNe. Both thermonuclear and core-collapse (CC) SNe are present in our sample. Compared to flux-limited SNe samples with known hosts, superluminous supernovae (SLSNe), particularly hydrogen-deficient SLSNe, are over-represented here relative to all other SNe types; among CC SNe, there is also a higher fraction of interacting SNe than non-interacting. On the low-luminosity side, seven SNe have host absolute magnitude upper limits fainter than Mg  = −12, about 1 per cent of the Small Magellanic Cloud's luminosity; the faintest limits are close to the luminosity of globular clusters or ultra-faint dwarf galaxies (Mg ≃ −8). Fitting multiband forced photometry, 11 SNe have host stellar masses <106 M⊙ assuming quiescent hosts, and 13 SNe have host stellar masses <105 M⊙ assuming star-forming hosts. The spatial distribution of hostless SNe indicates that the majority are not associated with known galaxy groups and clusters, ruling out intracluster stellar light as the primary contributor of such SNe. Hostless Type Ia SNe tend to be more luminous and slow-fading than SNe Ia with known host galaxies, implying a hidden population of low-mass and star-forming hosts. The agro-pastoral transitional zone in northern China is an important agricultural and pastoral production base. This study focuses on the eastern section of the agro-pastoral transitional zone in northern China. Combined with spatio-temporal analysis, stepwise regression, and gray relation analysis, we analyzed the average annual growth rate, spatio-temporal changes, and influencing factors of agricultural and pastoral production in the study area during 2000–2020. The results show that, in the past 20 years, the agricultural and pastoral production of the 50 municipal districts and counties has significantly changed, among which the agricultural production of 38 municipal districts and counties has shown an extremely significant increase. Generally, the growth rate of agricultural production is higher than that of pastoral production. Agricultural and pastoral production in the study area is influenced by socio-economic and land use/cover factors, with an average correlation degree of 0.79 and 0.88, respectively. Climate change affects agricultural production in agricultural counties, with a correlation degree of 0.85. The results of this research provide valuable insights into understanding the long-term temporal and spatial changes in agricultural and pastoral production and help to develop sound agriculture and pastoral management practices in the eastern section of the agro-pastoral transitional zone in Northern China. Intestinal barrier dysfunction is an important contributor to morbidity caused by sepsis. This study investigates the molecular mechanism by which Ghrelin affects intestinal dysfunction in rat model of sepsis. A rat model of sepsis was established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), revealing that Ghrelin was downregulated when sepsis occurs. Increases in the levels of inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin-1 (IL-1β), IL-6, gastrin, γ-H2AX and 8-OHdG was also detected in this model system, as was an overall increase in oxidative stress. Introduction of exogenous Ghrelin inhibited these increases in inflammatory response and oxidative stress, leading to a reduction of overall sepsis-induced intestinal dysfunction. Ghrelin was then shown to activate SIRT1 expression in vitro, while SIRT1 was found to co-express with KLF4, which in turn was predicted to bind to matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) promoter. Finally, gainand loss-of-function experiment demonstrated that SIRT1 upregulated the expression of KLF4 to downregulate MMP2. Collectively, Ghrelin inhibits the oxidative stress and intestinal dysfunction to attenuate sepsis by activating SIRT1 and regulating a KLF4/MMP2 regulatory axis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Global riverine nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions have increased more than 4-fold in the last century. It has been estimated that the hyporheic zones in small streams alone may contribute approximately 85% of these N2O emissions. However, the mechanisms and pathways controlling hyporheic N2O production in stream ecosystems remain unknown. Here, we report that ammonia-derived pathways, rather than the nitrate-derived pathways, are the dominant hyporheic N2O sources (69.6 ± 2.1%) in agricultural streams around the world. The N2O fluxes are mainly in positive correlation with ammonia. The potential N2O metabolic pathways of metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) provides evidence that nitrifying bacteria contain greater abundances of N2O production-related genes than denitrifying bacteria. Taken together, this study highlights the importance of mitigating agriculturally derived ammonium in low-order agricultural streams in controlling N2O emissions. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between chromosomal abnormalities in spontaneous abortion with clinical features and seek copy number variations (CNVs) and genes that might be connected to spontaneous abortion. Methods: Over 7 years, we used CNV-seq and STR analysis to study POCs, comparing chromosomal abnormalities with clinical features and identifying critical CNVs and genes associated with spontaneous abortion. Results: Total chromosomal variants in the POCs were identified in 66.8% (2169/3247) of all cases, which included 45.2% (1467/3247) numerical abnormalities and 21.6% (702/3247) copy number variants (CNVs). Chromosome number abnormalities, especially aneuploidy abnormalities, were more pronounced in the group of mothers aged ≥ 35 years, the early miscarriage group, and the chorionic villi group. We further analyzed 212 pathogenic and likely pathogenic CNVs in 146 POCs as well as identified 8 statistically significant SORs through comparison with both a healthy population and a group of non-spontaneously aborted fetuses. Our analysis suggests that these CNVs may play a crucial role in spontaneous abortion. Furthermore, by utilizing the RVIS score and MGI database, we identified 86 genes associated with spontaneous abortion, with particular emphasis on PARP6, ISLR, ULK3, FGFRL1, TBC1D14, SCRIB, and PLEC. Conclusion: We found variability in chromosomal abnormalities across clinical features, identifying eight crucial copy number variations (CNVs) and multiple key genes that may be linked to spontaneous abortion. In this study, fly ash cenospheres (FACs), characterized by their floating properties and inherent photocatalytic activity, were used as a carrier to support ZnFe2O4 material and doped with conductive polymer polypyrrole (PPy) to prepare a novel ternary PPy–ZnFe2O4/FACs (PPy–ZF) composite catalyst. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, TEM, and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the structure, morphology, and optical properties of the samples prepared. In particular, a 20 mg/L methyl orange (MO) solution at pH 4 was given 0.075 g of PPy–ZF catalyst to add, and after 30 min of dark adsorption, followed by irradiation for 180 min, 98.54% of the MO was removed. The material was also shown to have good stability and reusability through three cycles of use. Additionally, the material exhibited good photocatalytic activity for other dyes. The results of photocatalytic experiments showed their significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity toward MO, which was mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of PPy and ZnFe2O4 on the surface of FACs, leading to a high separation efficiency and a low rate of photogenerated charge complexation. In addition, cyclic tests demonstrated the stability and reusability of the composite. The leading role in the photocatalytic degradation of MO was demonstrated by the radical trapping experiment, which showed ·O2− and h+. The present study can significantly improve the photocatalytic performance of the floating materials of ZnFe2O4/FACs, which is beneficial to solve the current energy crisis and environmental pollution problems. Accurate three-dimensional (3D) cloud structure measurements are critical for assessing the influence of clouds on the Earth's atmospheric system. This study extended the MODIS (Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) cloud vertical profile (64 × 64 scene, about 70 km in width × 15 km in height) retrieval technique based on conditional generative adversarial networks (CGAN) to construct seamless 3D cloud fields for the MODIS granules. Firstly, the accuracy and spatial continuity of the retrievals (of 7180 samples from the validation set) were statistically evaluated. Then, according to the characteristics of the retrieval error, a spatially overlapping-scene ensemble generation method and a bidirectional ensemble binning probability fusion (CGAN-BEBPF) technique were developed, which improved the CGAN retrieval accuracy and support to construct seamless 3D clouds for the MODIS granules. The CGAN-BEBPF technique involved three steps: cloud masking, intensity scaling, and optimal value selection. It ensured adequate coverage of the low reflectivity areas while preserving the high-reflectivity cloud cores. The technique was applied to retrieve the 3D cloud fields of Typhoon Chaba and a multi-cell convective system and the results were compared with ground-based radar measurements. The cloud structures of the CGAN-BEBPF results were highly consistent with the ground-based radar observations. The CGAN-EBEPF technique retrieved weak ice clouds at the top levels that were missed by ground-based radars and filled the gaps of the ground-based radars in the lower levels. The CGAN-BEBPF was automated to retrieve 3D cloud radar reflectivity along the MODIS track over the seas to the east and south of mainland China, providing valuable cloud information to support maritime and near-shore typhoons and convection prediction for the cloud-sensitive applications in the regions. The loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra and the abnormal accumulation of synuclein proteins and neurotransmitters in Lewy bodies constitute the primary symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD). Besides environmental factors, scholars are in the early stages of comprehending the genetic factors involved in the pathogenic mechanism of PD. Although genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have unveiled numerous genetic variants associated with PD, precisely pinpointing the causal variants remains challenging due to strong linkage disequilibrium (LD) among them. Addressing this issue, expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) cohorts were employed in a transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS) to infer the genetic correlation between gene expression and a particular trait. Utilizing the TWAS theory alongside the enhanced Joint-Tissue Imputation (JTI) technique and Mendelian Randomization (MR) framework (MR-JTI), we identified a total of 159 PD-associated genes by amalgamating LD score, GTEx eQTL data, and GWAS summary statistic data from a substantial cohort. Subsequently, Fisher's exact test was conducted on these PD-associated genes using 5,152 differentially expressed genes sourced from 12 PD-related datasets. Ultimately, 29 highly credible PD-associated genes, including CTX1B, SCNA, and ARSA, were uncovered. Furthermore, GO and KEGG enrichment analyses indicated that these genes primarily function in tissue synthesis, regulation of neuron projection development, vesicle organization and transportation, and lysosomal impact. Objective(s): Proliferation and migration of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) contribute to hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension (HPH). The transcription factor Cbp/p300-interacting transactivator with Glu/Asp-rich carboxy-terminal domain 2 (Cited2) has been implicated in the control of tumor cells and mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) and cardiomyocyte growth or migration. Whether Cited2 is involved in the proliferation and migration of PASMCs and the underlying mechanisms deserve to be explored. Materials and Methods: Cited2 expression was detected in rat PASMCs under hypoxia conditions and HPH rat models. The effect of Cited2 on the proliferation and migration of PASMC was detected by overexpression or knockdown of the Cited2 gene. After PAMSCs were treated with recombinant TGF-β1 and the lentivirus vector overexpressing Cited2, expression of peroxisome proliferatoractivated receptor gamma (PPARγ) was examined by western blotting. Results: We revealed that hypoxia down-regulated the expression of Cited2 in PASMCs and rat pulmonary arteries. Cited2 overexpression inhibited the proliferation and migration of PASMCs under hypoxia, while Cited2 knockdown induced the proliferation and migration of PASMCs. Cited2 inhibits the negative regulation of the TGF-β1 pathway on PPARγ to inhibit the proliferation and migration of PASMCs. Conclusion: These findings suggest that increased Cited2 expression contributes to the inhibition of PASMCs proliferation and migration by regulating TGF-β1-mediated target gene expression in HPH and provides a new target for molecular therapy of HPH.
