Background: The causes for delays during the COVID19 pandemic and their impact on head and neck cancer (HNC) diagnosis and staging are not well described. Methods: Two cohorts were defined a priori for review and analysis—a Pre‐Pandemic cohort (June 1 to December 31, 2019) and a Pandemic cohort (June 1 to December 31, 2020). Delays were categorized as COVID‐19 related or not, and as clinician, patient, or policy related. Results: A total of 638 HNC patients were identified including 327 in the Pre‐Pandemic Cohort and 311 in the Pandemic Cohort. Patients in the Pandemic cohort had more N2‐N3 category (41% vs. 33%, p = 0.03), T3‐T4 category (63% vs. 50%, p = 0.002), and stage III‐IV (71% vs. 58%, p < 0.001) disease. Several intervals in the diagnosis to treatment pathway were significantly longer in the pandemic cohort as compared to the Pre‐Pandemic cohort. Among the pandemic cohort, 146 (47%) experienced a delay, with 112 related to the COVID‐19 pandemic; 80 (71%) were clinician related, 15 (13%) were patient related, and 17 (15%) were policy related. Conclusions: Patients in the Pandemic cohort had higher stage disease at diagnosis and longer intervals along the diagnostic pathway, with COVID‐19 related clinician factors being the most common cause of delay. Alzheimer's disease (AD), a primary cause of dementia, is rapidly emerging as one of the most financially taxing, lethal, and burdensome diseases of the 21st century. Increasing evidence suggests that microglia-mediated neuroinflammation plays a key role in both the initiation and progression of AD. Recently, emerging evidence has demonstrated mitochondrial dysfunction, particular in microglia where precedes neuroinflammation in AD. Multiple signaling pathways are implicated in this process and pharmaceutical interventions are potentially involved in AD treatment. In this review, advance over the last five years in the signaling pathways and pharmaceutical interventions are summarized and it is proposed that targeting the signaling pathways in microglia with mitochondrial dysfunction could represent a novel direction for AD treatment. Objectives: Depressive symptoms are the most prevalent comorbidity in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The objective of this study was to investigate the dynamic characteristics of resting-state neural activities in OCD patients with depressive symptoms. Methods: We recruited 29 OCD patients with depressive symptoms, 21 OCD patients without depressive symptoms, and 27 healthy controls, and collected data via structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). We analyzed the fMRI results using the dynamic amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (dALFF) and support vector machine (SVM) techniques. Results: Compared with OCD patients without depressive symptoms, OCD patients with depressive symptoms exhibited an increased dALFF in the left precuneus and decreased dALFF in the right medial frontal gyrus. The SVM indicated that the integration of aberrant dALFF values in the left precuneus and right medial frontal gyrus led to an overall accuracy of 80%, a sensitivity of 79%, and a specificity of 100% in detecting depressive symptoms among OCD patients. Conclusion: Therefore, our study reveals that OCD patients with depressive symptoms display neural activities with unique dynamic characteristics in the resting state. The E3 enzyme in the UPS pathway is a crucial factor for inhibiting substrate specificity. In Solanaceae, the U-box E3 ubiquitin ligase has a complex relationship with plant growth and development, and plays a pivotal role in responding to various biotic and abiotic stresses. The analysis of the U-box gene family in Solanaceae and its expression profile under different stresses holds significant implications. A total of 116 tobacco NtU-boxs and 56 eggplant SmU-boxs were identified based on their respective genome sequences. Phylogenetic analysis of U-box genes in tobacco, eggplant, tomato, Arabidopsis, pepper, and potato revealed five distinct subgroups (IV). Gene structure and protein motifs analysis found a high degree of conservation in both exon/intron organization and protein motifs among tobacco and eggplant U-box genes especially the members within the same subfamily. A total of 15 pairs of segmental duplication and 1 gene pair of tandem duplication were identified in tobacco based on the analysis of gene duplication events, while 10 pairs of segmental duplication in eggplant. It is speculated that segmental duplication events are the primary driver for the expansion of the U-box gene family in both tobacco and eggplant. The promoters of NtU-box and SmU-box genes contained cis-regulatory elements associated with cellular development, phytohormones, environment stress, and photoresponsive elements. Transcriptomic data analysis shows that the expression levels of the tobacco and eggplant U-box genes in different tissues and various abiotic stress conditions. Using cultivar Hongda of tobacco and cultivar Yanzhi of eggplant as materials, qRT-PCR analysis has revealed that 15 selected NtU-box genes and 8 SmU-box may play important roles in response to pathogen Ras invasion both in tobacco and eggplant. Simple Summary: Diabetic male reproductive damage is a prevalent complication of type II diabetes, prompting a multitude of experimental investigations. However, the use of mammalian models for studying diabetic reproductive damage is expensive and raises ethical concerns. Hence, the identification of alternative animal models is imperative. The scientific community is increasingly recognizing the use of silkworms Bombyx mori as animal models, primarily because of their numerous advantages, including low cost and fewer ethical concerns. This study established a type II diabetic silkworm model via a high-glucose diet. The impact of diabetes on the reproductive system of male silkworms was observed, confirming the potential for using silkworms to create a model for diabetic reproductive damage. The increasing prevalence of diabetic reproductive complications has prompted the development of innovative animal models. The use of the silkworm Bombyx mori as a model for diabetic reproductive damage shows potential as a valuable research tool. This study employed silkworms as a novel model to investigate diabetic reproductive damage. The silkworms were fed a high-glucose diet containing 10% glucose to induce a diabetic model. Subsequently, the study concentrated on assessing the influence of diabetes on the reproductive system of male silkworms. The results indicate that diabetes resulted in reduced luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone (T) levels, as well as elevated triglyceride (TG) levels in male silkworms. Moreover, diabetes mellitus was associated with pathological testicular damage in male silkworms, accompanied by decreased glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels, along with increased malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in the testis. Additionally, diabetes mellitus reduced the expression of siwi1 and siwi2 genes in the testis of male silkworms. The deteriorating thermal environment of tunnels and the increase in energy consumption of environmental control systems has become highlights in the subway field. In existing research related to analysis of subway tunnel thermal environments and thermal accumulation; there is no predictive law that accounts for thermal accumulation or the long-term change in subway tunnel thermal environments. In this study, a combination of simulations and experiments is used. First, the long-term evolution of tunnel thermal environments with and without thermal interference are predicted and analyzed. Then, the changes in the tunnel thermal environment after the use of capillary heat exchangers are explored. The research results indicate that the model of the system has high accuracy and reliability. When there is a capillary heat exchanger installed in the subway tunnel, the anti-seasonal heat storage characteristics of the system result in the tunnel temperature increasing significantly in summer and decreasing significantly in winter, with a small decrease in the average annual temperature. In today's digital age, multi-energy systems (MES) have become an indispensable part of the social infrastructure, providing people with diversified energy support such as electricity, gas, water and so on. However, with the increasing popularity and networking of MES, the network security threats they face are becoming more and more serious, especially the threat of network attacks. This makes it essential to detect attacks on MES and precisely classify attack types in order to establish effective defense strategies. In this paper, a Dual-Head output network attack detection and classification method based on parallel CNN-BiLSTM network is proposed. The method adopts a parallel structure and can process different aspects of information at the same time, speeding up the training and inference process of the whole network, making the system respond more quickly to potential network attacks, and improving real-time and efficiency. The multi-model fusion structure can give full play to the advantages of CNN and BiLSTM in processing different types of data, so that the system can capture attack characteristics more comprehensively in many aspects, and improve the overall detection and classification performance. The dual-head output not only improves the system's ability to accurately detect attacks, but also can effectively classify different types of attacks in detail, which helps to formulate more targeted defense strategies. In addition, in order to effectively evaluate our proposed method, the network traffic data required for the experiment were collected in an environment very similar to the actual operating environment of a multi-energy system. Styrax japonicus is a medicinal and ornamental shrub belonging to the Styracaceae family. To explore the diversity and characteristics of the chloroplast genome of S. japonicus, we conducted sequencing and comparison of the chloroplast genomes of four naturally distributed S. japonicus. The results demonstrated that the four chloroplast genomes (157,914–157,962 bp) exhibited a typical quadripartite structure consisting of a large single copy (LSC) region, a small single copy (SSC) region, and a pair of reverse repeats (IRa and IRb), and the structure was highly conserved. DNA polymorphism analysis revealed that three coding genes (infA, psbK, and rpl33) and five intergene regions (petA-psbJ, trnC-petN, trnD-trnY, trnE-trnT, and trnY-trnE) were identified as mutation hotspots. These genetic fragments have the potential to be utilized as DNA barcodes for future identification purposes. When comparing the boundary genes, a small contraction was observed in the IR region of four S. japonicus. Selection pressure analysis indicated positive selection for ycf1 and ndhD. These findings collectively suggest the adaptive evolution of S. japonicus. The phylogenetic structure revealed conflicting relationships among several S. japonicus, indicating divergent evolutionary paths within this species. Our study concludes by uncovering the genetic traits of the chloroplast genome in the differentiation of S. japonicus variety, offering fresh perspectives on the evolutionary lineage of this species. Fagopyrum dibotrys, belonging to the family Polygonaceae and genus Fagopyrum, is used in traditional Chinese medicine and is rich in beneficial components, such as flavonoids. As its abundant medicinal value has become increasingly recognized, its excessive development poses a considerable challenge to wild germplasm resources, necessitating artificial cultivation and domestication. Considering these factors, a high-quality genome of F. dibotrys was assembled and the evolutionary relationships within Caryophyllales were compared, based on which 58 individual samples of F. dibotrys were re-sequenced. We found that the samples could be categorized into three purebred populations and regions distributed at distinct elevations. Our varieties were cultivated from the parental populations of the subpopulation in central Yunnan. F. dibotrys is speculated to have originated in the high-altitude Tibetan Plateau region, and that its combination with flavonoids can protect plants against ultraviolet radiation; this infers a subpopulation with a high accumulation of flavonoids. This study assembled a high-quality genome and provided a theoretical foundation for the future introduction, domestication, and development of cultivated varieties of F. dibotrys. Background: The utility of pre- and post-operative alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and des-gamma (g)-carboxy prothrombin (DCP) expression patterns and their dynamic changes as predictors of the outcome of hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has yet to be well elucidated. Methods: From a multicenter database, AFP and DCP data during the week prior to surgery and the first post-discharge outpatient visit (within 1-2 months after surgery) were collected from patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy. AFP-DCP expression patterns were categorized according to the number of positive tumor markers (AFP = 20ng/mL, DCP = 40mAU/mL), including doublenegative, single-positive, and double-positive. Changes in the AFP-DCP expression patterns were delineated based on variations in the number of positive tumor markers when comparing pre- and post-operative patterns. Results: Preoperatively, 53 patients (8.3%), 337 patients (52.8%), and 248 patients (38.9%) exhibited double-negative, single-positive, and double-positive AFP DCP expression patterns, respectively. Postoperatively, 463 patients (72.6%), 130 patients (20.4%), and 45 patients (7.0%) showed double-negative, single-positive, and double-positive AFP-DCP expression patterns, respectively. Survival analysis showed a progressive decrease in recurrence-free (RFS) and overall survival (OS) as the number of postoperative positive tumor markers increased (both P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that postoperative AFP-DCP expression pattern, but not preoperative AFP-DCP expression pattern, was an independent risk factor for RFS and OS. Further analysis showed that for patients with positive preoperative markers, prognosis gradually improves as positive markers decrease postoperatively. In particular, when all postoperative markers turned negative, the prognosis was consistent with that of preoperative double-negative patients, regardless of the initial number of positive markers. Conclusions: AFP-DCP expression patterns, particularly postoperative patterns, serve as vital sources of information for prognostic evaluation following hepatectomy for HCC. Moreover, changes in AFP-DCP expression patterns from pre- to post-operation enable dynamic prognostic risk stratification postoperatively, aiding the development of individualized follow-up strategies. Change detection (CD) in remote sensing (RS) images aims to identify surface changes based on images acquired at different times. However, existing methods are still unsatisfactory in locating fine details of change in RS images, due to overlooking the inherent temporal information. To address the issue, we introduce a novel Triplet Fusion Temporal Relationship Network (FTRNet). FTRNet incorporates a triplet input backbone that enables the extraction of both spatial and temporal features. We design a change attention module to enhance bitemporal features, making the backbone network retain temporal information and fuse cross-scale features to extract the high-level location information. We evaluate our method on three benchmark datasets, including LEVIR-CD, WHU-CD, GZ, and DSIFN. The experimental results showcase that FTRNet achieves IoU scores of 83.60%, 77.06%, 73.67%, and 77.30% in LEVIR-CD, WHU-CD, GZ, and DSIFN datasets, respectively. Background Metabolic syndrome (Mets) is commonly seen in bipolar disorder (BD). As the key component and early biological index of Mets, insulin resistance (IR) among BD has received more and more attention. However, little is known about the prevalence of IR and its associated factors in drug-naïve patients with (BD), especially among Han Chinese population. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on 125 drug-naïve patients with bipolar disorder (BD) and 85 healthy controls (HC). The Homeostatic Model Assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated, and IR was defined as HOMA-IR greater than the 75th percentile value for health controls (2.35). Clinical characteristics of BD were collected through semi-structural interview performed by a trained interviewer with background of psychiatric education. Results Among the measured anthropocentric variables including BMI, waist circumference, abdomen circumference, hipline, and hip-waist ratio, waist circumference was found to be the most closely related to IR (0R=1.070, 95%CI=1.031–1.110, P<0.001). Male was another factor that was associated with IR (OR=2.281, 95%CI=1.107–4.702, P=0.025). After adjusted for gender and waist circumference, the risk of IR was significantly higher in bipolar disorder than in healthy controls (OR=2.66, 95%CI=1.364–5.214, P=0.004). No significant association was found between IR and any of the observed physical and mental comorbidities, any characteristic of illness course including age onset, number of mixed episodes, types of current state, duration of current episode, duration of illness course, rapid cycling, number of mood episodes, and subgroup of BD. Hypersomnia was the only symptomatic feature that was significantly associated with IR (OR=0.316, 95%CI=0.124–0.803, P=0.016). Micro-nano scale 3D printing is attracting attention as an alternative manufacturing method for a variety of applications in electronic information, biomedical, and sensing devices. Localized electrochemical deposition (LECD) based on nanopipettes is naturally superior and economical for the manufacturing of high-freedom, impurity-free metal conductors. However, flexible printing sacrifices roughness and straightness. Therefore, the present study initially establishes a simulation model for LECD and subsequently analyzes the key factors that influence the quality and stability of the deposited structure. Furthermore, an effective solution is proposed to enhance the surface quality. Second, a constant deposition current control method based on fuzzy proportional-intergral-derivaite (PID) is proposed to effectively suppress the fluctuation and improve the stability and quality of the deposited structure. Finally, compared with the open-loop control method, the proposed constant current control method can reduce the radial fluctuation of the copper pillar structure by 87%, and effectively improve the surface quality of the structure. Although new cell-based research suggests a link between PPFIA4 and colon adenocarcinoma cancer, there is currently no pan-cancer study available. Using The Cancer Genome Atlas datasets, we firstly investigated the possible oncogenic function of PPFIA4 in 33 tumors. We discovered that PPFIA4 is substantially expressed in most malignancies and is associated with tumor patient prognosis. Furthermore, missense mutation and amplification of the PPFIA4 gene were the most common types of genetic change. In contrast to lung squamous cell carcinoma, tumor purity in prostate adenocarcinoma was strongly negatively connected with PPFIA4 expression and considerably positively correlated with the amount of infiltration of cluster of differentiation 8+ T cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, cluster of differentiation 4+ T cells, B cells and neutrophils in the tumor microenvironment. PPFIA4 expression in bladder cancer and lung squamous cell carcinoma is a strong correlation with the expression levels of tumor microenvironment, M1 and M2 macrophages, which are seen in the majority of monocyte marker groups. Furthermore, the functional mechanisms of PPFIA4 were influenced by chemical synaptic transmission as well as the development of the nervous system. In summary, our work provided essential insights into PPFIA4 dysregulation in pan-cancer and prompted potential molecular mechanisms in the progression of cancer, which highlight its potential therapeutic target for patients. This paper is concerned with the principal spectral theory of time-periodic cooperative systems with nonlocal dispersal and Neumann boundary condition. First we present a sufficient condition for the existence of principal eigenvalues by using the theory of resolvent positive operators with their perturbations. Then we establish the monotonicity of principal eigenvalues with respect to the frequency and investigate the limiting properties of principal eigenvalues as the frequency tends to zero or infinity. We also study the effects of dispersal rates and dispersal ranges on the principal eigenvalues, and the difficulty is that principal eigenvalues of time-periodic cooperative systems with Neumann boundary conditions are not monotone with respect to the domain. Finally, we apply our theory to a man-environment-man epidemic model and consider the impacts of dispersal rates, frequency, and dispersal ranges on the basic reproduction number and positive time-periodic solutions. To enhance the storage time of cucumbers, this research investigated the impact of chitosan (CS) and hyperbranched poly-L-lysine (HBPL) on the quality and nutritional attributes of cucumbers when stored at a temperature of 25 °C. The results demonstrated that sensory evaluation scores for cucumbers treated with a CS–HBPL combination were significantly higher than the control (CK), CS, and HBPL groups. On the 18th day of storage, cucumbers in the CK group exhibited significant decay and softening; however, there was a decrease in hardness observed in the CS–HBPL group and no decay or noticeable sour taste was detected. Furthermore, compared to the CK group, treatment with CS–HBPL effectively delayed cucumber decay and weight loss rate while significantly inhibiting decreases in cucumber hardness and growth of surface microorganisms. Additionally, it substantially reduced losses of soluble protein content as well as vitamin C (Vc), reducing sugars, and total phenolic compounds within cucumbers, which were 4.7 mg/g, 4.7 mg/g, 0.94 mg/g, and 0.52 mg/kg, respectively. Moreover, compared to the CK group, combined treatment with CS–HBPL significantly inhibited malondialdehyde (MDA) accumulation and reducing relative electrolyte permeability within cucumbers, which were 1.45 μmol·g−1FW and 29.82%. Furthermore, it notably enhanced activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), while exerting a significant inhibitory effect on polyphenol oxidase (PPO). Glycerophosphocholine (GPC) is a water-soluble small molecule found naturally in humans and foods such as milk and soybeans. It can activate the IIS pathway by regulating the expression of daf-2, ins-18 and daf-16 genes, sek-1 and skn-1 genes of MAPK pathway, sod-3, ctl-1, gst-4 and other antioxidant genes. GPC can relieve symptoms related to aging in organisms. The aim of this study was to probe the effects of GPC on the longevity and stress resistance of the entomopathogenic nematode (EPN) Steinernema kraussei 0657L strain. The results showed that the lifespan of S. kraussei 0657L was significantly prolonged by 50 mM GPC treatment, which was 54.55% longer than that of the control (0 mM GPC). GPC significantly inhibited reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipofuscin accumulation, but the body size and fecundity of S. kraussei 0657L had little changed. At the same time, the longevity of S. kraussei 0657L exposed to heat shock and UV-B radiation was significantly prolonged than that with no external stress. GPC supplementation increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes and corresponding gene expression. Under treatment with 50 mM GPC, the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase were increased by 1.90- and 4.13-fold, respectively, the expression of the sod-3 and ctl-1 genes was increased by 3.60- and 0.60-fold, respectively, and harmful reactive oxygen species were removed. In addition, the expression levels of the ins-18, skn-1, sek-1 and gst-4 genes related to the insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathway were upregulated 1.04-, 1.84-, 2.21- and 1.24-fold, respectively. These results indicate that GPC is mainly involved in the lifespan regulation of S. kraussei 0657L and plays an important role in resistance to external stress by activating the insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathway and downstream PI3K/MAPK kinase, creating a new idea for improving the commercial efficacy of S. kraussei. Background: Differences in border zone contribute to different outcomes postinfarction, such as left ventricular aneurysm (LVA) and myocardial infarction (MI). LVA usually forms within 24 h of the onset of MI and may cause heart rupture; however, LVA surgery is best performed 3 months after MI. Few studies have investigated the LVA model, the differences in border zones between LVA and MI, and the mechanism in the border zone. Methods: The LVA, MI, and SHAM mouse models were used. Echocardiography, Masson's trichrome staining, and immunofluorescence staining were performed, and RNA sequencing of the border zone was conducted. The adipocyteconditioned medium-treated hypoxic macrophage cell line and LVA and MI mouse models were employed to determine the effects of the hub gene, adiponectin (ADPN), on macrophages. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), Western blot analysis, transmission electron microscopy, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays were conducted to elucidate the mechanism in the border zone. Human subepicardial adipose tissue and blood samples were collected to validate the effects of ADPN. Results: A novel, simple, consistent, and low-cost LVA mouse model was constructed. LVA caused a greater reduction in contractile functions than MI owing to reduced wall thickness and edema in the border zone. ADPN impeded cardiac edema and promoted lymphangiogenesis by increasing macrophage infiltration post-infarction. Adipocyte-derived ADPN promoted M2 polarization and sustained mitochondrial quality via the ADPN/AdipoR2/HMGB1 axis. Mechanistically, ADPN impeded macrophage HMGB1 inflammation and decreased interleukin-6 (IL6) and HMGB1 secretion. The secretion of IL6 and HMGB1 increased ADPN expression via STAT3 and the co-transcription factor, YAP, in adipocytes. Based on ChIP and Dual-Glo luciferase experiments, STAT3 promoted ADPN transcription by binding to its promoter in adipocytes. In vivo, ADPN promoted lymphangiogenesis and decreased myocardial injury after MI. These phenotypes were rescued by macrophage depletion or HMGB1 knockdown in macrophages. Supplying adipocytes overexpressing STAT3 decreased collagen disposition, increased lymphangiogenesis, and impaired myocardial injury. However, these effects were rescued after HMGB1 knockdown in macrophages. Overall, the IL6/ADPN/HMGB1 axis was validated using human subepicardial tissue and blood samples. This axis could serve as an independent factor in overweightMI patients who need coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) treatment. Conclusion: The IL6/ADPN/HMGB1 loop between adipocytes and macrophages in the border zone contributes to different clinical outcomes post-infarction. Soil enzymes play a central role in carbon and nutrient cycling, and their activities can be affected by drought-induced oxygen exposure. However, a systematic global estimate of enzyme sensitivity to drought in wetlands is still lacking. Through a meta-analysis of 55 studies comprising 761 paired observations, this study found that phosphorus-related enzyme activity increased by 38% as result of drought in wetlands, while the majority of other soil enzyme activities remained stable. The expansion of vascular plants under long-term drought significantly promoted the accumulation of phenolic compounds. Using a 2-week incubation experiment with phenol supplementation, we found that phosphorus-related enzyme could tolerate higher biotoxicity of phenolic compounds than other enzymes. Moreover, a long-term (35 years) drainage experiment in a northern peatland in China confirmed that the increased phenolic concentration in surface layer resulting from a shift in vegetation composition inhibited the increase in enzyme activities caused by rising oxygen availability, except for phosphorus-related enzyme. Overall, these results demonstrate the complex and resilient nature of wetland ecosystems, with soil enzymes showing a high degree of adaptation to drought conditions. These new insights could help evaluate the impact of drought on future wetland ecosystem services and provide a theoretical foundation for the remediation of degraded wetlands. This study evaluated the effects of four highland barley proteins (HBPs), namely, albumin, globulin, gliadin and glutenin, on the short-term retrogradation of highland barley starch (HBS). The findings reveal that HBPs could reduce the viscosity, storage modulus and hardness of HBS, with albumin and globulin showing more prominent effects. Furthermore, with the addition of HBPs, the loss tangent (tan δ) of HBS loss increased from 0.07 to 0.10, and the enthalpy of gelatinization decreased from 8.33 to 7.23. The degree of retrogradation (DR%) of HBS was 5.57%, and the DR% decreased by 26.65%, 38.78%, 11.67% and 20.29% with the addition of albumin, globulin, gliadin and glutenin, respectively. Moreover, the relative crystallinity (RC) and the double helix structures were inhibited with the HBPs' incorporation. Meanwhile, the HBPs also could inhibit water migration and improve the structure of HBS gels. Ubiquitin A‐52 residue ribosomal protein fusion product 1 (UBA52) has a role in the occurrence and development of tumours. However, the mechanism by which UBA52 regulates hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumorigenesis and progression remains poorly understood. By using the Cell Counting Kit (CCK‐8), colony formation, wound healing and Transwell assays, we assessed the effects of UBA52 knockdown and overexpression on the proliferation and migration of HCC cells in vitro. By establishing subcutaneous and metastatic tumour models in nude mice, we evaluated the effects of UBA52 on HCC cell proliferation and migration in vivo. Through bioinformatic analysis of data from the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases, we discovered that UBA52 is associated with autophagy. In addition, we discovered that HCC tissues with high UBA52 expression had a poor prognosis in patients. Moreover, knockdown of UBA52 reduced HCC cell growth and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, knockdown of UBA52 induced autophagy through EMC6 in HCC cells. These findings suggest that UBA52 promoted the proliferation and migration of HCC cells through autophagy regulation via EMC6 and imply that UBA52 may be a viable novel treatment target for HCC patients. Background: Glossopharyngeal neuralgia (GPN) is a rare chronic neuropathic pain disorder that significantly impacts quality of life. Ultrasound-guided glossopharyngeal nerve blocks (UGPNB) have gained popularity due to their various advantages. However, there have been no studies reporting the long-term outcomes of UGPNB in a larger cohort of GPN patients. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of UGPNB in patients with GPN. Methods: We reviewed the electronic medical records of patients with GPN who received UGPNB at the Department of Pain Medicine of the First Medical Center, PLA General Hospital between June 1, 2011, and June 1, 2022. The effect of UGPNB was evaluated using the Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) scale. Improvement was defined as a reduction in pain category by comparing pain categories before and after therapy. Recovery was defined as achieving BNI I after treatment. Patients who responded to treatment but then regressed to the category before therapy were considered to have experienced pain relapse. Results: A total of 43 patients with GPN who received UGPNB were included in the analysis. At discharge, 35 (81.4%) patients experienced pain improvement after treatment, and among them, 13 (30.2%) patients achieved recovery. After discharge, 13 patients (37.1%) out of the 35 effective patients experienced pain relapse at different time intervals: 0.5, 0.7, 1, 1, 3, 3, 4, 12, 15, 36, 45, 63, and 96 months. The cumulative recurrence-free survival rates were 88.85% at month 1, 82.83% at month 3, 77.04% at month 12, 70.31% at month 36, and 54.66% at month 120. Among the 13 patients who experienced relapse, four patients received a second UGPNB treatment, and pain improved in two patients (50%). No severe adverse reactions were documented. Conclusion: UGPNB is an effective, repeatable, safe, and minimally invasive treatment for patients with GPN. Aims: General anesthesia has been used in surgical procedures for approximately 180 years, yet the precise mechanism of anesthetic drugs remains elusive. There is significant anatomical connectivity between the ventral tegmental area (VTA) and the prelimbic cortex (PrL). Projections from VTA dopaminergic neurons (VTADA) to the PrL play a role in the transition from sevoflurane anesthesia to arousal. It is still uncertain whether the prelimbic cortex pyramidal neuron (PrLPyr) and its projections to VTA (PrLPyr‐VTA) are involved in anesthesia‐arousal regulation. Methods: We employed chemogenetics and optogenetics to selectively manipulate neuronal activity in the PrLPyr‐VTA pathway. Electroencephalography spectra and burst‐suppression ratios (BSR) were used to assess the depth of anesthesia. Furthermore, the loss or recovery of the righting reflex was monitored to indicate the induction or emergence time of general anesthesia. To elucidate the receptor mechanisms in the PrLPyr‐VTA projection's impact on anesthesia and arousal, we microinjected NMDA receptor antagonists (MK‐801) or AMPA receptor antagonists (NBQX) into the VTA. Results: Our findings show that chemogenetic or optogenetic activation of PrLPyr neurons prolonged anesthesia induction and promoted emergence. Additionally, chemogenetic activation of the PrLPyr‐VTA neural pathway delayed anesthesia induction and promoted anesthesia emergence. Likewise, optogenetic activation of the PrLPyr‐VTA projections extended the induction time and facilitated emergence from sevoflurane anesthesia. Moreover, antagonizing NMDA receptors in the VTA attenuates the delayed anesthesia induction and promotes emergence caused by activating the PrLPyr‐VTA projections. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that PrLPyr neurons and their projections to the VTA are involved in facilitating emergence from sevoflurane anesthesia, with the PrLPyr‐VTA pathway exerting its effects through the activation of NMDA receptors within the VTA. Micro-energy systems contribute significantly to environmental improvement by reducing dependence on power grids through the utilization of multiple renewable energy sources. This study quantified the environmental impact of a micro-energy network system in an industrial park through a life cycle assessment using the operation of the micro-energy network over a year as the functional unit and "cradle-to-gate" as the system boundary. Based on the baseline scenario, a natural gas generator set was added to replace central heating, and the light pipes were expanded to constitute the optimized scenario. The results showed that the key impact categories for both scenarios were global warming, fine particulate matter formation, human carcinogenic toxicity, and human non-carcinogenic toxicity. The overall environmental impact of the optimized scenario was reduced by 68% compared to the baseline scenario. A sensitivity analysis of the key factors showed that electricity from the power grid was the key impact factor in both scenarios, followed by central heating and natural gas. Therefore, to reduce the environmental impact of network systems, it is necessary to further optimize the grid power structure. Trichotillomania (TTM) is an intractable and chronic mental disorder that causes significant distress or functional impairments in various life domains. Most individuals with trichotillomania have other comorbid diagnoses. Bipolar disorder (BD) is one of the most common comorbid conditions. Up to date, no FDA-approved drugs for TTM are available, not to mention children and adolescent patients with TTM and BD. Aiming at the rapid development of anti-hypersonic collaborative interception technology, this paper designs an intelligent maneuver strategy of hypersonic vehicles (HV) based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to evade the collaborative interception by two interceptors. Under the meticulously designed collaborative interception strategy, the uncertainty and difficulty of evasion are significantly increased and the opportunity for maneuvers is further compressed. This paper, accordingly, selects the twin delayed deep deterministic gradient (TD3) strategy acting on the continuous action space and makes targeted improvements combining deep neural networks to grasp the maneuver strategy and achieve successful evasion. Focusing on the time-coordinated interception strategy of two interceptors, the three-player pursuit and evasion (PE) problem is modeled as the Markov decision process, and the double training strategy is proposed to juggle both interceptors. In reward functions of the training process, the energy saving factor is set to achieve the trade-off between miss distance and energy consumption. In addition, the regression neural network is introduced into the deep neural network of TD3 to enhance intelligent maneuver strategies’ generalization. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to verify that the improved TD3 algorithm can effectively evade the collaborative interception of two interceptors under tough situations, and the improvements of the algorithm in terms of convergence speed, generalization, and energysaving effect are verified. Object: The aim of our study was to examine the alterations in microstructure in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and cognitive impairment (CI) using diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI). Additionally, we aimed to investigate the potential correlation between DKI parameters and cognitive function. Materials and methods: A total of 28 CAD patients and 30 healthy controls (HC) were prospectively enrolled in our study. All participants underwent routine and diffusion sequences of head imaging. DKE software was utilized to generate various diffusion kurtosis imaging parameters (DKI), including kurtosis fractional anisotropy (KFA), mean kurtosis (MK), axial kurtosis (AK), radial kurtosis (RK), fractional anisotropy (FA), and mean diffusivity (MD). Nonparametric tests were conducted using tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) to compare the parameter values between the two groups. The parameter values of the significantly different fiber tracts were extracted and correlated with the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scores. Results: Compared to the HC group, patients with coronary artery disease exhibited significant reductions in FA values in the bilateral Superior corona radiata, bilateral Anterior corona radiata, bilateral Posterior corona radiata, corpus callosum, left Posterior thalamic radiation, right Posterior limb of internal capsule, Anterior limb of internal capsule, and Cerebral peduncle, as well as in the left Superior longitudinal fasciculus. Additionally, KFA values decreased in the bilateral Anterior corona radiata, bilateral Anterior limb of internal capsule, and Genu of the corpus callosum. The MK values decreased in the right Posterior corona radiata, Retrolenticular part of the internal capsule, Posterior thalamic radiation (including optic radiation), Superior longitudinal fasciculus, and left Posterior thalamic radiation (including optic radiation). Moreover, the RK values decreased in the bilateral Retrolenticular part of the internal capsule, right Posterior thalamic radiation (including optic radiation), and Superior longitudinal fasciculus, as well as in the left Superior longitudinal fasciculus and Posterior thalamic radiation (including optic radiation) (p < 0.01, TFCE corrected), while no significant differences were observed in other parameter values (p > 0.01, TFCE corrected). The FA values of the right posterior limb of the internal capsule (r = 0.610, p = 0.001) and the right cerebral peduncle (r = 0.622, p < 0.001) were positively correlated with MMSE scores. Additionally, a significant correlation between kurtosis and diffusion coefficient parameters (FA and KFA) was observed. Conclusion: CAD patients showed radial shrinkage and complexity of brain white matter microstructure. Whole-brain white matter analysis based on TBSS DKI can objectively reflect the characteristics of white matter damage in CAD patients, providing a basis for the auxiliary diagnosis of CAD with CI. Cultural ecosystem services (CES) based on nature experiences substantially contribute to public health and human well-being. However, CES's supplydemand methodology remains scarcely explored on the coastal beach, and the demand relating to public preferences has not been sufficiently unveiled in spatial assessment. Here, we selected recreation services as a lens of CES and applied the knowledge of multi-source big data to better reflect public preferences. Point of Interests (POIs) refer to particularly valuable or interesting places. We proposed to integrate POIs and social media data (Weibo check-in) to quantify the demand for beach recreation services (BRS). We also used socioecological indicators to quantify the BRS's supply. The supply-demand balance of BRS was further identified by quadrant analysis and coupling coordination degree. Our methodology was applied to a typical coastal zone, Shenzhen Dapeng New District, in the Greater Bay Area of China. Over 80% of the beaches in the study area exhibited an imbalanced or barely balanced supplydemand of recreation services. We found that POIs density had a significant influence on a balanced supply-demand of BRS. Multi-source big data (POIs and Weibo check-in) provided an efficient, low-cost, and across-scale approach for public preference mapping than traditional questionnaire surveys. The proposed CES's supply-demand framework can identify coastal beaches with imbalanced recreation and support sustainable coastal management. Coastal beach management prioritizes not only waste prevention and sufficient safety signs but also proper infrastructure development that contribute sustainably to the human well-being of nature experiences. Introduction: In recent years, the world has faced increasingly severe climate change and ecological environmental problems. As an important part of the ecological system, rural areas also face many challenges. Rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality, as a solution, have attracted widespread attention. However, achieving the coordinated development of rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality requires more in-depth research and effective methods. Methods: This study aims to explore how to promote the coordinated development of rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality through the combination of a Transformer-RNN model and cross-attention mechanism. We propose a deep learning framework that combines the parallelism and global dependency capturing capabilities of the Transformer model with the temporal information handling capabilities of the RNN model. By integrating these two models, we leverage their respective strengths to improve the performance of the model. Furthermore, we introduce a cross-attention mechanism that enables the model to simultaneously focus on the relationship between rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality. Through cross-attention, the model accurately captures the impact of rural ecological construction measures on carbon neutrality and the feedback effect of carbon neutrality on the rural ecological environment. In our experiments, we collected relevant data on rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality, including environmental indicators, socio-economic factors, land use patterns, energy consumption, and carbon emissions. Results and discussion: We preprocess the data and train the combined Transformer-RNN model with the cross-attention mechanism. The trained model demonstrates promising results in capturing the complex dependencies and relationships between rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality. The significance of this study lies in deepening the understanding of the coordinated development relationship between rural ecological construction and carbon neutrality and providing a novel deep learning-based method to solve related problems. Understanding the hydrate adhesion is important to tackling hydrate accretion in petro-pipelines. Herein, the relationship between the Tetrahydrofuran (THF) hydrate adhesion strength (AS) and surface stiffness on elastic coatings is systemically examined by experimental shear force measurements and theoretical methods. The mechanical factor-elastic modulus of the coatings greatly dictates the hydrate AS, which is explained by the adhesion mechanics theory, beyond the usual factors such as wettability and structural roughness. Moreover, the hydrate AS increases with reducing the thickness of the elastic coatings, resulted from the decrease of the apparent surface elastic modulus. The effect of critical thickness for the elastic materials with variable elastic modulus on the hydrate AS is also revealed. This study provides deep perspectives on the regulation of the hydrate AS by the elastic modulus of elastic materials, which is of significance to design anti-hydrate surfaces for mitigation of hydrate accretion in petro-pipelines. The narrative progression of events, evolving into a cohesive story, relies on the entity-entity relationships. Among the plethora of visualization techniques, storyline visualization has gained significant recognition for its effectiveness in offering an overview of story trends, revealing entity relationships, and facilitating visual communication. However, existing methods for storyline visualization often fall short in accurately depicting the specific relationships between entities. In this study, we present E2Storyline, a novel approach that emphasizes simplicity and aesthetics of layout while effectively conveying entity-entity relationships to users. To achieve this, we begin by extracting entity-entity relationships from textual data and representing them as subject-predicate-object (SPO) triplets, thereby obtaining structured data. By considering three types of design requirements, we establish new optimization objectives and model the layout problem using multi-objective optimization (MOO) techniques. The aforementioned SPO triplets, together with time and event information, are incorporated into the optimization model to ensure a straightforward and easily comprehensible storyline layout. Through a qualitative user study, we determine that a pixel-based view is the most suitable method for displaying the relationships between entities. Finally, we apply E2Storyline to real-world data, including movie synopses and live text commentaries. Through comprehensive case studies, we demonstrate that E2Storyline enables users to better extract information from stories and comprehend the relationships between entities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite observed ethnic differences in eating patterns and obesity, evidence in China is limited. This study examined ethnic differences in eating patterns and their associations with weight outcomes among multi-ethnic adults in West China. A cross-sectional survey collected self-reported data on demographics, eating behaviours, weight and height in 2021. Principal component analysis and multivariate regression were conducted to identify eating patterns and examine their associations with weight outcomes. In total, 4407 subjects aged ≥ 18 years were recruited across seven provinces in West China. Four eating patterns were identified: 'meat-lover' – characterised by frequent consumption of meat and dairy products, 'indulgent' – by frequent intakes of added salt, sugar, alcohol and pickled food, 'diversified-eating' – by frequently consuming food with diversified cooking methods and eating out and 'nutri-health-concerned' – by good food hygiene behaviours and reading food labels. Ethnic differences in eating patterns were observed. Compared with Han, Hui were less likely to exhibit meat-lover or diversified-eating patterns; Tibetans were less likely to have meat-lover or nutri-health-concerned patterns; Mongolians were more likely to have indulgent pattern. BMI was positively associated with meat-lover pattern in both genders (exp(β): 1·029; 95 % CI: 1·001, 1·058 for men; 1·018; 1·000, 1·036 for women) and negatively associated with nutri-health-concerned pattern in women (0·983; 0·966, 1·000). Mongolians were two times more likely to be overweight/obese than Han (OR: 3·126; 1·688, 5·790). Considerable ethnic differences existed in eating patterns in West China. 3D seismic data recently acquired from the Ordos Basin shows three sets of regularly distributed fault systems, which overrides previous understanding that no faults were developed in this basin. Seismic interpretation suggests that the faults in the southwestern Ordos Basin have three basic characteristics, namely extreme micro-scale, distinct vertical stratification, and regularity of planar distribution. These NS-, NW-, and NE-trending fault systems developed in the Meso-Neoproterozoic e Lower Ordovician strata. Of these, the NS-trending fault system mainly consists of consequent and antithetic faults which show clear syndepositional deformation. The fault systems in the Carboniferous e Middle-Lower Triassic strata are not clear on seismic reflection profiles. The NW- and NE-trending fault systems are developed in the Upper Triassic e Middle Jurassic strata. Of these, the NW-trending fault system appears as a negative flower structure in sectional view and in an en echelon pattern in plan-view; they show transtensional deformation. A NE-trending fault system that developed in the Lower Cretaceous e Cenozoic strata shows a Y-shaped structural style and tension-shear properties. A comprehensive analysis of the regional stress fields at different geologic times is essential to determine the development, distribution direction, and intensity of the activity of fault systems in the Ordos Basin. Current exploration suggests three aspects in which the faults within the Ordos Basin are crucial to oil and gas accumulation. Firstly, these faults serve as vertical barriers that cause the formation of two sets of relatively independent petroleum systems in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic strata respectively; this is the basis for the 'upper oil and lower gas' distribution pattern. Secondly, the vertical communication of these faults is favorable for oil and gas migration, thus contributing to the typical characteristics of multiple oil and gas fields within the basin, i.e. oil and gas reservoirs with multiple superimposed strata. Finally, these faults and their associated fractures improve the permeability of Mesozoic tight reservoirs, providing favorable conditions for oil enrichment in areas around the fault systems. To extend the shelf life of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), the effects of chitosan (CS) and hyperbranched poly-L-lysine (HBPL) combined treatment on quality characteristics, nutritional quality, storage characteristics, and enzyme activity of oyster mushroom during postharvest storage at 4 °C were investigated. The results showed that CS-HBPL combined treatment could significantly reduce rot degree and weight loss and significantly inhibit the browning of oyster mushroom. At the same time, the loss of reducing sugar, vitamin C, soluble protein, and total phenolic was significantly reduced. Compared with the control, CS-HBPL combined treatment could also significantly inhibit an increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) and significantly decrease the relative electrolyte leakage of oyster mushroom. In addition, the activities of catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), phenylalnine ammonialyase (PAL), and peroxidase (POD) were significantly improved, and the activity of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) was significantly inhibited in oyster mushroom. In conclusion, CS-HBPL combined treatment had a good protective effect on the membrane permeability damage of oyster mushroom and could effectively delay the oxidation of phenolic substances and browning of oyster mushroom. Depressive emotion (DE) refers to clinically relevant depressive symptoms without meeting the diagnostic criteria for depression. Studies have demonstrated that DE can cause spatial cognition impairment. However, the brain network mechanisms underlying DE interference spatial cognition remain unclear. This study aimed to reveal the differences in brain network connections between DE and healthy control (HC) groups during resting state and a spatial cognition task. The longer operation time of the DE group during spatial cognition task indicated DE interference spatial cognition. In the resting state stage, the DE group had weaker network connections in theta and alpha bands than the HC group had. Specifically, the electrodes in parietal regions were hubs of the differential networks, which are related to spatial attention. Moreover, in docking task stages, the left frontoparietal network connections in delta, beta, and gamma bands were stronger in the DE group than those of the HC group. The enhanced left frontoparietal connections in the DE group may be related to brain resource reorganization to compensate for spatial cognition decline and ensure the completion of spatial cognition tasks. Objective: The spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) remains a significant cause of mortality and morbidity throughout the world. The purpose of this retrospective study is to develop multiple models for predicting ICH outcomes using machine learning (ML). Methods: Between January 2014 and October 2021, we included ICH patients identified by computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging and treated with surgery. At the 6-month check-up, outcomes were assessed using the modified Rankin Scale. In this study, four ML models, including Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree C5.0, Artificial Neural Network, Logistic Regression were used to build ICH prediction models. In order to evaluate the reliability and the ML models, we calculated the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR). With the recent advancement of novel biomedical technologies such as high-throughput sequencing and wearable devices, multi-modal biomedical data ranging from multi-omics molecular data to real-time continuous bio-signals are generated at an unprecedented speed and scale every day. For the first time, these multi-modal biomedical data are able to make precision medicine close to a reality. However, due to data volume and the complexity, making good use of these multi-modal biomedical data requires major effort. Researchers and clinicians are actively developing artificial intelligence (AI) approaches for data-driven knowledge discovery and causal inference using a variety of biomedical data modalities. These AI-based approaches have demonstrated promising results in various biomedical and healthcare applications. In this review paper, we summarize the state-of-the-art AI models for integrating multi-omics data and electronic health records (EHRs) for precision medicine. We discuss the challenges and opportunities in integrating multi-omics data with EHRs and future directions. We hope this review can inspire future research and developing in integrating multi-omics data with EHRs for precision medicine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
