Based on the quantum valley Hall effect analogy, this work proposes a phononic crystal plate with ligament-type beams to obtain the topological valley transmission of elastic waves. A pure Bragg degenerate state appears in the high-frequency region with a resonator introduced. By rotating the central scatterer and the beams, the mirror symmetry is broken to form a topological bandgap. Subsequently, this work finds that two selective edge states also appear beside the commonly non-trivial crossing edge states in the topological bandgap by calculating the projected band and eigenvalue spectrum of the supercell with different valley Hall phases phononic crystals. Their appearance is due to band separation of the topological edge states caused by an increase in the rotation angle. Both selective edge states can transmit topologically in specific paths. They will help further to broaden the width of the frequency band of topological transmission. Besides, an elastic wave splitter is designed and demonstrated numerically, which can form two channels and three channels in different frequency bands. With the topological selective edge state disappearing, a topological corner state exists in the edge bandgap. Transition metal oxide (TMO) anodes show inferior sodium ion storage performance compared with that of lithium ion storage owing to the larger radium size and heavier elemental mass of Na+ than Li+. Effective strategies are highly desired to improve the Na+ storage performance of TMOs for applications. In this work, using ZnFe2O4@xC nanocomposites as model materials for investigation, we found that by manipulating the particle sizes of the inner TMOs core and the features of outer carbon coating, the Na+ storage performance can be significantly improved. The ZnFe2O4@1C with a diameter of the inner ZnFe2O4 core of around 200 nm coated by a thin carbon layer of around 3 nm shows a specific capacity of only 120 mA h g−1. The ZnFe2O4@6.5C with a diameter of the inner ZnFe2O4 core of around 110 nm embedding in a porous interconnected carbon matrix displays a significantly improved specific capacity of 420 mA h g−1 at the same specific current. Furthermore, the latter shows an excellent cycling stability of 1000 cycles with a capacity retention of 90% of the initial 220 mA h g−1 specific capacity at 1.0 A g−1. TEM, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and kinetic analysis show that the inner ZnFe2O4 core with reduced particle size and the outer thicker and interconnected carbon matrix synergistically improve the active reaction sites, integrity, electric conductivity, and pseudocapacitive-controlled contribution of ZnFe2O4@xC nanocomposites, thus leading to an overall enhanced Na+ storage performance. Polyethylene oxide (PEO)‐based solid‐state batteries hold great promise as the next‐generation batteries with high energy density and high safety. However, PEO‐based electrolytes encounter certain limitations, including inferior ionic conductivity, low Li+ transference number, and poor mechanical strength. Herein, we aim to simultaneously address these issues by utilizing one‐dimensional zwitterionic cellulose nanofiber (ZCNF) as fillers for PEO‐based electrolytes using a simple aqueous solution casting method. Multiple characterizations and theoretical calculations demonstrate that the unique zwitterionic structure imparts ZCNF with various functions, such as disrupting PEO crystallization, dissociating lithium salts, anchoring anions through cationic groups, accelerating Li+ migration by anionic groups, as well as its inherent reinforcement effect. As a result, the prepared PL‐ZCNF electrolyte exhibits remarkable ionic conductivity (5.37×10−4 S cm−1) and Li+ transference number (0.62) at 60 °C without sacrificing mechanical strength (9.2 MPa), together with high critical current density of 1.1 mA cm−2. Attributed to these merits of PL‐ZCNF, the LiFePO4|PL‐ZCNF|Li solid‐state full‐cell delivers exceptional rate capability and cycling performance (900 cycles at 5 C). Background: Delayed spinal epidural hematoma (SEH) following central neuraxial block (CNB) is a rare but serious complication. The underlying causes of SEH associated with neuraxial anesthesia are still unclear. Furthermore, the decision between surgical intervention and conservative management for SEH remains a complex and unresolved issue. Case Presentation: We report a case of delayed SEH in a 73-year-old woman who underwent vaginal hysterectomy under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, with the administration of postoperative anticoagulants to prevent deep vein thrombosis on the 1st postoperative day (POD). She experienced symptoms 56 h after CNB. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a dorsal SEH at the L1-L4 level with compression of the thecal sac. On conservative treatment, full recovery was achieved after six months. Conclusions: This case reminds anesthesiologists should be alert to the possible occurrence of a delayed SEH following CNB, particularly with the administration of anticoagulants. Immediate neurological evaluation of neurological deficit and MRI are advised. Conservative treatment combined with close and dynamic neurological function monitoring may be feasible for patients with mild or nonprogressive symptoms even spontaneous recovery. A novel phosphine-mediated α-umpolung/Wittig olefination/cyclization cascade process between o-aminobenzaldehydes and Morita–Baylis–Hillman (MBH) carbonates has been ingeniously developed. This protocol serves as a practical tool for the facile synthesis of a broad range of 2-vinylindolines in moderate to good yields under mild reaction conditions. Background: Computed tomography (CT) is the usual modality for diagnosing stroke, but conventional CT angiography reconstructions have limitations. Methods: A phantom with tubes of known diameters and wall thickness was scanned for wall detectability, wall thickness, and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) on conventional and spectral black-blood (SBB) images. The clinical study included 34 stroke patients. Diagnostic certainty and conspicuity of normal/abnormal intracranial vessels using SBB were compared to conventional. Sensitivity/specificity/accuracy of SBB and conventional were compared for plaque detectability. CNR of the wall/lumen and quantitative comparison of remodeling index, plaque burden, and eccentricity were obtained for SBB imaging and high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (hrMRI). Results: The phantom study showed improved detectability of tube walls using SBB (108/108, 100% versus conventional 81/108, 75%, p < 0.001). CNRs were 75.9 ± 62.6 (mean ± standard deviation) for wall/lumen and 22.0 ± 17.1 for wall/water using SBB and 26.4 ± 15.3 and 101.6 ± 62.5 using conventional. Clinical study demonstrated (i) improved certainty and conspicuity of the vessels using SBB versus conventional (certainty, median score 3 versus 0; conspicuity, median score 3 versus 1 (p < 0.001)), (ii) improved sensitivity/specificity/accuracy of plaque (≥ 1.0 mm) detectability (0.944/0.981/0.962 versus 0.239/0.743/0.495) (p < 0.001), (iii) higher wall/lumen CNR of SBB of (78.3 ± 50.4/79.3 ± 96.7) versus hrMRI (18.9 ± 8.4/24.1 ± 14.1) (p < 0.001), and (iv) excellent reproducibility of remodeling index, plaque burden, and eccentricity using SBB versus hrMRI (intraclass correlation coefficient 0.85–0.94). Conclusions: SBB can enhance the detectability of intracranial plaques with an accuracy similar to that of hrMRI. Relevance statement: This new spectral black-blood technique for the detection and characterization of intracranial vessel atherosclerotic disease could be a time-saving and cost-effective diagnostic step for clinical stroke patients. The vegetative insecticidal protein Vip3Aa from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has been produced by transgenic crops to counter pest resistance to the widely used crystalline (Cry) insecticidal proteins from Bt. To proactively manage pest resistance, there is an urgent need to better understand the genetic basis of resistance to Vip3Aa, which has been largely unknown. We discovered that retrotransposon-mediated alternative splicing of a midgut-specific chitin synthase gene was associated with 5,560-fold resistance to Vip3Aa in a laboratory-selected strain of the fall armyworm, a globally important crop pest. The same mutation in this gene was also detected in a field population. Knockout of this gene via CRISPR/Cas9 caused high levels of resistance to Vip3Aa in fall armyworm and 2 other lepidopteran pests. The insights provided by these results could help to advance monitoring and management of pest resistance to Vip3Aa. The insecticidal protein Vip3Aa is used in genetically engineered crops to overcome pest resistance to other insecticidal transgenes. Water and graphene have been used separately to effectively broaden absorption bandwidth in the design of metamaterial absorbers (MAs). In this paper, a broad terahertz MA is presented, in which water and graphene are used together for improving absorption performance. The absorptivity of the presented MA exceeds 90% over the frequency range of 2.81–6.74 THz. It is found that the proposed MA has superior absorption performance to those using water or graphene separately. The impedance matching theory as well as the distribution of the field and power loss are used to provide a deep insight into the absorption mechanism. Furthermore, the proposed MA exhibits excellent thermal stability as well as good insensitivity to polarization and incident angle. Methanol is a promising feedstock for the bio-based economy as it can be derived from organic waste streams or produced electrochemically from CO2. Acetate production from CO2 in microbial electrosynthesis (MES) has been widely studied, while more valuable compounds such as butyrate are currently attracting attention. In this study, methanol was used as a co-substrate with CO2 to enhance butyrate production in MES. Feeding with CO2 and methanol resulted in the highest butyrate production rates and titres of 0.36 ± 0.01 g L−1 d−1 and 8.6 ± 0.2 g L−1, respectively, outperforming reactors with only CO2 feeding (0.20 ± 0.03 g L−1 d−1 and 5.2 ± 0.1 g L−1, respectively). Methanol acted as electron donor and as carbon source, both of which contributed ca. 50% of the carbon in the products. Eubacterium was the dominant genus with 52.6 ± 2.5% relative abundance. Thus, we demonstrate attractive route for the use of the C1 substrates, CO2 and methanol, to produce mainly butyrate. Electrical signaling plays a crucial role in the cellular response to tissue injury in wound healing and an external electric field (EF) may expedite the healing process. Here, we have developed a standalone, wearable, and programmable electronic device to administer a well-controlled exogenous EF, aiming to accelerate wound healing in an in vivo mouse model to provide pre-clinical evidence. We monitored the healing process by assessing the re-epithelization rate and the ratio of M1/M2 macrophage phenotypes through histology staining. Following three days of treatment, the M1/M2 macrophage ratio decreased by 30.6% and the re-epithelization in the EF-treated wounds trended towards a non-statically significant 24.2% increase compared to the control. These findings provide point towards the effectiveness of the device in shortening the inflammatory phase by promoting reparative macrophages over inflammatory macrophages, and in speeding up re-epithelialization. Our wearable device supports the rationale for the application of programmed EFs for wound management in vivo and provides an exciting basis for further development of our technology based on the modulation of macrophages and inflammation to better wound healing. Inversion of surface‐wave free fields is of great importance in providing seismic excitations for the finite element (FE) analysis of soil–structure interaction (SSI) systems. In the case of layered media, the propagating surface waves are characterized by their unique dispersion property, resulting in dispersive multi‐mode surface wavefields. Available studies primarily focus on only the fundamental mode and neglect the influence of higher modes, which fail to identify the real structural response characteristics. To enhance the precision of seismic excitations for SSI systems situated in layered media, a multi‐mode inversion method for dispersive surface‐wave free fields is proposed in this study. The proposed method employs the energy flow density to characterize the participation volume of dispersive modes, and further calculates corresponding modal participation factors by combining with the dispersion curve and dynamic‐stiffness matrix (DSM) method. The modal participation factors are then utilized to assign the ground surface components of each mode and invert respective single‐mode surface‐wave free fields. Based on the mode superposition theory, all the single‐mode surface‐wave free fields are finally superimposed to construct the multi‐mode wavefields. The accuracy of the proposed method is thoroughly verified and validated across various types of layered media. Furthermore, the engineering application of the proposed method is illustrated by performing the FE analysis on an SSI example. In this study, a novel fluidized-bed homogeneous granulation (FBHo-G) process was developed to recover lithium (Li) from industrial Li-impacted wastewater. Five important operational variables (i.e., temperatures, pH, [P]0/[Li]0 molar ratios, surface loadings, and up-flow velocities (Umf)) were selected to optimize the Li recovery (TR%) and granulation ratio (GR%) efficiencies of the process. The optimal operational conditions were determined as the following: a temperature of 75 °C, pH of 11.5, [P]0/[Li]0 of 0.5, surface loading of 2.5 kg/m2·h, and Umf of 35.7 m/h). The TR% and GR% at optimal condition could be as much as 90%. The material characterization of the recovery pellet products showed that they were highly crystallized Li3PO4 (purity ~88.2%). The pellets had a round shape and smooth surface with an average size of 0.65 mm, so could easily be stored and transported. The high purity enables them to be further directly reused as raw materials for a wide range of industrial applications (e.g., in the synthesis of cathode materials). Our calculation shows that the FBHo-G process could recover up to 0.1845 kg of lithium per cubic meter of Li-containing wastewater, at a recovery rate of ~90%. A brief technoeconomic analysis shows that FBHG process had economic viability, with an estimate production cost of USD 26/kg Li removed, while the potential gained profit for selling lithium phosphate pellets could be up to USD 48 per the same volume of wastewater and the net profit up to USD 22/m3 Li treated. In all, fluidized-bed homogeneous granulation, a seedless one-step recovery process, opens a promising pathway toward a green and sustainable recycling industry for the recovery and application of the resource-limited lithium element from nonconventional water sources. Robustness is one of the most critical characteristics of complex networks, determining their stability and resilience in the face of various disturbances. With the research on complex networks, people have observed that higher-order networks can also affect the structure and function of the network. Therefore, when studying network robustness, we also need to consider the interaction between higher-order networks and low-order networks. To delve deeper into the investigation and comprehension of robustness in complex networks, this paper introduces a model of higher-low order networks with adjustable coupling strength. In this model, network nodes are categorized into autonomous and nonautonomous nodes, with coupling strength adjusted using three methods: random coupling, degree-related coupling, and local coupling. Validation is performed on ER networks, BA networks, SW networks, as well as several real-world networks. The composition and evolution of interfacial species play a key role during electrocatalytic process. Unveiling the structural evolution and intermediate during catalytic process by in situ characterization can shed new light on the electrocatalytic reaction mechanism and develop highly efficient catalyst. However, directly probing the interfacial species is extremely difficult for most spectroscopic techniques due to complicated interfacial environment and ultra-low surface concentration. Herein, electrochemical core-shell nanoparticle enhanced Raman spectroscopy is utilized to probe the composition and evolution processes of interfacial species on Au@Pt, Au@Co, and Au@PtCo core—shell nanoparticle surfaces. The spectral evidences of interfacial intermediates including hydroxide radical (OH*), superoxide ion (O2−), as well as metal oxide species are directly captured by in situ Raman spectroscopy, which are further confirmed by the both isotopic experiment and density functional theory calculation. Menispermaceae species, as early‐diverging eudicots, can synthesize valuable benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (BIAs) like bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids (bisBIAs) and sinomenines with a wide range of structural diversity. However, the evolutionary mechanisms responsible for their chemo‐diversity are not well understood. Here, a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Menispermum dauricum is presented and demonstrated the occurrence of two whole genome duplication (WGD) events that are shared by Ranunculales and specific to Menispermum, providing a model for understanding chromosomal evolution in early‐diverging eudicots. The biosynthetic pathway for diverse BIAs in M. dauricum is reconstructed by analyzing the transcriptome and metabolome. Additionally, five catalytic enzymes – one norcoclaurine synthase (NCS) and four cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (CYP450s) – from M. dauricum are responsible for the formation of the skeleton, hydroxylated modification, and C‐O/C‐C phenol coupling of BIAs. Notably, a novel leaf‐specific MdCYP80G10 enzyme that catalyzes C2′‐C4a phenol coupling of (S)‐reticuline into sinoacutine, the enantiomer of morphinan compounds, with predictable stereospecificity is discovered. Moreover, it is found that Menispermum‐specific CYP80 gene expansion, as well as tissue‐specific expression, has driven BIA diversity in Menispermaceae as compared to other Ranunculales species. Timely and accurate extraction of pavement crack information is crucial to maintain service conditions and structural safety for infrastructures and reduce further road maintenance costs. Currently, deep learning techniques for automated pavement crack detection are far superior to traditional manual approaches in both speed and accuracy. However, existing deep learning models may easily lose crack details when processing images containing complex background textures or other noises. Although many studies have alleviated this challenge by introducing attention mechanisms, especially the non‐local (NL) block, which has the ability to efficiently capture long‐range dependencies to facilitate crack pixel capture, the huge computational cost of NL makes the inference time of the model too long, which is not conducive to practical implementation. In this study, a new module, namely, the pyramid region attention module (PRAM), was developed by combining the pyramid pooling module in the pyramid scene parsing network and optimized NL, which can achieve global multi‐scale context integration and long‐range dependencies capture at a relatively lower computational cost. By applying PRAM to deep skip connections in the modified U‐Net, an effective crack segmentation model called CrackResU‐Net was developed. The test results on the existing CrackForest dataset showed that CrackResU‐Net not only achieved an F1 score of 0.9580 but also took only 25.89 ms to process an image with a resolution of 480 × 320, which had advantages in accuracy and speed, compared with several other state‐of‐the‐art crack segmentation approaches. Background: Fluoride-resistant Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) strains have developed due to the wide use of fluoride in dental caries prevention. However, the metabolomics of fluoride-resistant S. mutans remains unclear. Objective: This study aimed to identify metabolites that discriminate fluoride-resistant from wild-type S. mutans. Materials and methods: Cell supernatants from fluoride-resistant and wild-type S. mutans were collected and analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Principal components analysis and partial least-squares discriminant analysis were performed for the statistical analysis by variable influence on projection (VIP > 2.0) and p value (Mann–Whitney test, p < 0.05). Metabolites were assessed qualitatively using the Human Metabolome Database version 2.0 (http://www.hmdb.ca), or Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (http://www.kegg.jp), and Metaboanalyst 6.0 (https://www.metaboanalyst.ca). Results: Fourteen metabolites differed significantly between fluoride-resistant and wild-type strains in the early log phase. Among these metabolites, 5 were identified. There were 32 differential metabolites between the two strains in the stationary phase, 13 of which were identified. The pyrimidine metabolism for S. mutans FR was matched with the metabolic pathway. Conclusions: The fructose-1,6-bisphosphate concentration increased in fluoride-resistant strains under acidic conditions, suggesting enhanced acidogenicity and acid tolerance. A new pyrone derivative 11-hydroxypyrophen (1), together with pyrophen (2) and six naphtho-γ-pyrones (3–8), were obtained from the culture extract of Aspergillus niger Pas67. All isolated compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial activities against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Compounds 4 and 8 showed significant antibacterial activity against MRSA with minimum inhibitory concentration values (MICs) of 25 and 16 μg/mL, while compounds 1 and 2 did not display anti-MRSA activity. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of ultrafast (2 min) cervical spine MRI protocol using a deep learning-assisted 3D iterative image enhancement (DL-3DIIE) system, compared to a conventional MRI protocol (6 min 14s). Patients and Methods: Fifty-one patients were recruited and underwent cervical spine MRI using conventional and ultrafast protocols. A DL-3DIIE system was applied to the ultrafast protocol to compensate for the spatial resolution and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of images. Two radiologists independently assessed and graded the quality of images from the dimensions of artifacts, boundary sharpness, visibility of lesions and overall image quality. We recorded the presence or absence of different pathologies. Moreover, we examined the interchangeability of the two protocols by computing the 95% confidence interval of the individual equivalence index, and also evaluated the inter-protocol intra-observer agreement using Cohen's weighted kappa. Results: Ultrafast-DL-3DIIE images were significantly better than conventional ones for artifacts and equivalent for other qualitative features. The number of cases with different kinds of pathologies was indistinguishable based on the MR images from ultrafast-DL-3DIIE and conventional protocols. With the exception of disc degeneration, the 95% confidence interval for the individual equivalence index across all variables did not surpass 5%, suggesting that the two protocols are interchangeable. The kappa values of these evaluations by the two radiologists ranged from 0.65 to 0.88, indicating good-to-excellent agreement. Conclusion: The DL-3DIIE system enables 67% spine MRI scan time reduction while obtaining at least equivalent image quality and diagnostic results compared to the conventional protocol, suggesting its potential for clinical utility. To realize efficient P removal and resource utilization of steelmaking slag, a synthetic slag with appropriate basicity was produced by co-processing the practical dephosphorization slag and basic oxygen furnace slag. The selective leaching behavior and dissolution kinetics of P were investigated. The results indicated that the P dissolution efficiency and reaction rate were significantly influenced by the variety in stirring rate and pH. However, the decreasing solid/liquid ratio and particle size can significantly enhance the reaction rate, while exerting a slight impact on the P dissolution efficiency. The leaching temperature had less influence on both P dissolution efficiency and reaction rate. Under the optimal leaching conditions, the leaching reaction of the P-condensed phase primarily occurred within the initial 3 min, and, finally, the P dissolution efficiency reached 87.5%, with an extremely low dissolved amount of Fe. After leaching, the Fe-rich residue consisted of massive Fe2O3, MgO, and MnO, with only 0.32% P2O5. This residue can be used as a raw material or flux in steel plants. Furthermore, it was found that the selective leaching of P was controlled by diffusion through the product layer, with the apparent activation energy of 5.80 kJ/mol. By accurately measuring composition and energy spectrum of cosmic ray, the origin problem of so called "knee" region (energy >one PeV) can be solved. However, up to the present, the results of the spectrum in the knee region obtained by several previous experiments have shown obvious differences, so they cannot give effective evidence for judging the theoretical models on the origin of the knee. Recently, the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) has reported several major breakthroughs and important results in astro-particle physics field. Relying on its advantages of wide-sky survey, high altitude location and large area detector arrays, the research content of LHAASO experiment mainly includes ultra high-energy gamma-ray astronomy, measurement of cosmic ray spectra in the knee region, searching for dark matter and new phenomena of particle physics at higher energy. The electron and thermal neutron detector (EN-Detector) is a new scintillator detector which applies thermal neutron detection technology to measure cosmic ray extensive air shower (EAS). This technology is an extension of LHAASO. The EN-Detector Array (ENDA) can highly efficiently measure thermal neutrons generated by secondary hadrons so called "skeleton" of EAS. In this paper, we perform the optimization of ENDA configuration, and obtain expectations on the ENDA results, including thermal neutron distribution, trigger efficiency and capability of cosmic ray composition separation. Objective: The efficacy of single-incision plus one-port laparoscopic surgery (SILS + 1) versus conventional laparoscopic surgery (CLS) for colorectal cancer treatment remains unclear. This study compares the short-term and long-term outcomes of SILS + 1 and CLS using a high-quality systematic review and meta-analysis. Method: Literature search followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, drawing from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library until December 10, 2023. Statistical analysis was conducted using RevMan and Stata. Result: The review and meta-analysis included seven studies with 1740 colorectal cancer patients. Compared to CLS, SILS + 1 showed significant improvements in operation time (WMD = − 18.33, P < 0.00001), blood loss (WMD = − 21.31, P < 0.00001), incision length (WMD = − 2.07, P < 0.00001), time to first defecation (WMD = − 14.91, P = 0.009), time to oral intake (WMD = − 11.46, P = 0.04), and time to ambulation (WMD = − 11.52, P = 0.01). There were no significant differences in lymph node harvest, resection margins, complications, anastomotic leakage, hospital stay, disease-free survival, overall survival, and postoperative recurrence. Conclusions: Compared to CLS, SILS + 1 demonstrates superiority in shortening the surgical incision and promoting postoperative recovery. SILS + 1 can provide a safe and feasible alternative to CLS. The essence of roof water inrush in coal mines fundamentally stems from the development of water-bearing fracture zones, facilitating the intrusion of overlying aquifers and thereby leading to water hazard incidents. Monitoring rock-fracturing conditions through the analysis of microseismic data can, to a certain extent, facilitate the prediction and early warning of water hazards. The water inflow volume stands as the most characteristic type of data in mine water inrush accidents. Hence, we investigated the feasibility of predicting water inrush events through anomalies in microseismic data from the perspective of water inflow volume variations. The data collected from the microseismic monitoring system at the 208 working face were utilized to compute localization information and source parameters. Based on the hydrogeological conditions of the working face, the energy screening range and its calculation grid characteristics were determined, followed by the generation of kernel density cloud maps at different depths. By observing these microseismic kernel density cloud maps, probabilities of roof water-conducting channel formation and potential locations were inferred. Subsequently, based on the positions of these roof water-conducting channels on the planar domain, the extension depth and expansion direction of the water-conducting channels were determined. Utilizing microseismic monitoring data, a quantitative assessment of water inrush risk was conducted, thereby establishing a linkage between microseismic data and water (inrush) data, which are two indirectly related datasets. The height of microseismic events was directly proportional to the trend of water inflow in the working face. In contrast, the occurrence of water inflow events and microseismic events exhibited a specific lag effect, with microseismic events occurring prior to water inrush events. Abnormalities in microseismic monitoring data partially reflect changes in water-conducting channel patterns. When connected with coal seam damage zones, water inrush hazards may occur. The effects of rare earth elements (Ce and Y) additions with the same content (0.3 wt.%, mass fraction) on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the Al-11.0Zn-3.1Mg-1.22Cu-0.1Sr-0.2Zr-0.1Ti alloy (base alloy) were investigated. The addition of Ce and Y refined the grain size and led to aging precipitates, which were dominated by the fine and compactly distributed GP (Guinier Preston) zones and the formed η′ (MgZn2) phase, improving the tensile properties of the alloy. The Ce-containing alloy possessed the highest tensile strength and elongation of 768.5 MPa and 8.0%, respectively. Meanwhile, the large atomic radius and low electronegativity of Ce and Y led to the discontinuous distribution of grain boundary precipitates (GBPs) and the broadening of the precipitate-free zones (PFZs) in the alloys, resulting in the improvement of intergranular corrosion resistance (IGC) of the rare earth modified alloys compared with the base alloy, with the best results for the Y-containing alloys. BACKGROUND: The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, is one of the most dangerous pests to various crops. As the most crucial sugar crop, sugarcane is also constantly threatened by these pests. Plant wound‐induced proteinase inhibitors (WIP) are natural defense proteins that play important roles in the defense system against insect attack. Breeding for resistance would be the best way to improve the variety characteristics and productivity of sugarcane. Screening and verification for potential plant endogenous insect‐resistant genes would greatly improve the insect‐resistant breeding progress of sugarcane. RESULTS: A sugarcane WIP5 gene (ScWIP5) was up‐regulated 536 times after insect feeding treatment on previous published transcriptome databases. ScWIP5 was then cloned and its potential role in sugarcane resistance to fall armyworm evaluated by construction of transgenic Nicotiana benthamiana. The toxicity of ScWIP5 transgenic N. benthamiana to fall armyworm showed lower weight gain and higher mortality compared to wild‐type N. benthamiana feeding group. Furthermore, the concentration of JA and NbAOC, NbAOS, and NbLOX from the Jasmin acid biosynthesis pathway was significantly induced in ScWIP5 transgenic N. benthamiana compared to the control. In addition, digestive enzyme actives from the insect gut were also evaluated, and trypsin and cathepsin were significantly lower in insects fed with ScWIP5 transgenic N. benthamiana. Enhancing the robustness of complex networks is of great practical significance as it ensures the stable operation of infrastructure systems. We measure its robustness by examining the size of the largest connected component of the network after initial attacks. However, traditional research on network robustness enhancement has mainly focused on low-order networks, with little attention given to higher-order networks, particularly higher-low order coupling networks(the largest connected component of the network must exist in both higher-order and low-order networks). To address this issue, this paper proposes robust optimization methods for higher-low order coupled networks based on the greedy algorithm and the simulated annealing algorithm. By comparison, we found that the simulated annealing algorithm performs better. The proposed method optimizes the topology of the low-order network and the higher-order network by randomly reconnecting the edges, thereby enhancing the robustness of the higher-order and low-order coupled network. The experiments were conducted on multiple real networks to evaluate the change in the robustness coefficient before and after network optimization. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively improve the robustness of both low-order and higher-order networks, ultimately enhancing the robustness of higher-low order coupled networks. Since the prediction of multi‐hydrogen high‐temperature superconductor by Ashcroft in 2004, many possible candidates have been proposed, e.g., LaH10 showing the highest superconducting transition temperature (Tc) around 250–260 K at 170‐200 GPa hitherto. However, this pressure is too large to be taken into practical use. To address this challenge, it proposes a few‐hydrogen metal‐bonded perovskite superconductor, MgHCu3, by combining a novel design idea with first‐principles calculations. Different from multi‐hydrogen hydrides, whose high Tc relies on extreme pressure, the metallic bond in few‐hydrogen superconductor MgHCu3 improves the structural stability and ductility at atmospheric pressure. Here, the small amount of hydrogen is found to be vital for Tc. After the incorporation of hydrogen, the electron–phonon coupling constant of MgHCu3 is increased to 0.83, which is larger than that of the well‐known MgB2. Moreover, the anisotropy of MgHCu3 also plays an important role in enhancing Tc. Based on the Migdal‐Eliashberg theory, it predicts that the phonon‐mediated metal‐bonded perovskite MgHCu3 is a superconductor with Tc of 42 K. The first predicted ternary metal‐bonded perovskite, MgHCu3, enriches the family of perovskite and will promote further investigation on few‐hydrogen superconductors under atmospheric pressure. According to the latest statistics at the end of 2022, the total length of highways in China has reached 5.3548 million kilometers, with a maintenance mileage of 5.3503 million kilometers, accounting for 99.9% of the total maintenance coverage. Relying on inefficient manual pavement detection methods is difficult to meet the needs of large-scale detection. To tackle this issue, experiments were conducted to explore deep learning-based intelligent identification models, leveraging pavement distress data as the fundamental basis. The dataset encompasses pavement micro-cracks, which hold particular significance for the purpose of pavement preventive maintenance. The two-stage model Faster R-CNN achieved a mean average precision (mAP) of 0.938, which surpassed the one-stage object detection algorithms YOLOv5 (mAP: 0.91) and YOLOv7 (mAP: 0.932). To balance model weight and detection performance, this study proposes a YOLO-based optimization method on the basis of YOLOv5. This method achieves comparable detection performance (mAP: 0.93) to that of two-stage detectors, while exhibiting only a minimal increase in the number of parameters. Overall, the two-stage model demonstrated excellent detection performance when using a residual network (ResNet) as the backbone, whereas the YOLO algorithm of the one-stage detection model proved to be more suitable for practical engineering applications. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, and it's of great importance to understand its underlying mechanisms and find new treatments. Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) is an active lipid that exerts its effects through S1P receptors on the cell surface or intracellular signal, and regulates many cellular processes such as cell growth, cell proliferation, cell migration, cell survival, and so on. S1PR modulators are a class of modulators that can interact with S1PR subtypes to activate receptors or block their activity, exerting either agonist or functional antagonist effects. Many studies have shown that S1P plays a protective role in the cardiovascular system and regulates cardiac physiological functions mainly through interaction with cell surface S1P receptors (S1PRs). Therefore, S1PR modulators may play a therapeutic role in cardiovascular diseases. Here, we review five S1PRs and their functions and the progress of S1PR modulators. In addition, we focus on the effects of S1PR modulators on atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion injury, diabetic cardiovascular diseases, and myocarditis, which may provide valuable insights into potential therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular disease. The presence of excess secondary‐phase PbI2 in perovskite films shows a negative impact on their long‐term stability. Herein, an intermediate phase modification (IPM) strategy is proposed to eliminate residual PbI2 for improved quality of all‐inorganic CsPbI3‐type perovskite films, wherein the extrinsic agent is introduced to address the intermediate phase. By transforming residual PbI2 into a novel 1D perovskite phase, the IPM strategy acts as a patch to suture grain boundaries in the inorganic perovskite films. In addition, the IPM strategy not only enhances the quality of perovskite films but also mitigates energy disorder, reduces trap state density, and prolongs carrier lifetime by expediting the intermediate phase conversion process and passivating surface defects. As such, the perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of ≈20% and a high fill factor of 83.3% are considered to be very efficient, with excellent shelf stability of 3000 h of exposure in air without any encapsulation. Due to its challenging manufacturing and intricate morphology, the aluminum alloy transmission intermediate shell used in vehicle transmission has been the focus of many academic studies. In this study, the three-dimensional cutting model is condensed to a two-dimensional cutting model and utilized to simulate the finishing process of an aluminum alloy workpiece using the finite element modeling program DEFORM-3D. Through orthogonal testing and range analysis, the impact of integral end mill side edge parameters on cutting performance was investigated. It is determined that tool chamfering has a greater impact on cutting performance than tool rake and relief angles, that chamfering width has the most impact on cutting force, and that chamfering angle has the greatest impact on cutting temperature. The workpiece's surface roughness is tested during a cutting experiment, and an analysis of the data reveals that the finite element simulation model is accurate and the orthogonal test method is reasonable. The tool chamfer has a greater impact on roughness than the tool rake angle and relief angle. The tool settings are further optimized using the firefly method. By examining the data, it is determined that the prediction model is correct and the optimization model is reasonable. The cutting efficiency is higher and the surface quality is better when the chamfer width is 0.17 mm and the chamfer angle is 7.3° or 18.3°. Therefore, optimizing the side edge parameters of the integral end mill during the finishing process of a thin-walled aluminum alloy shell has practical technical value. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Macrophages can exhibit pro-inflammatory or pro-reparatory functions, contingent upon their specific activation state. This dynamic behavior empowers macrophages to engage in immune reactions and contribute to tissue homeostasis. Understanding the intricate interplay between macrophage motility and activation status provides valuable insights into the complex mechanisms that govern their diverse functions. In a recent study, we developed a classification method based on morphology, which demonstrated that movement characteristics, including speed and displacement, can serve as distinguishing factors for macrophage subtypes. In this study, we develop a deep learning model to explore the potential of classifying macrophage subtypes based solely on raw trajectory patterns. The classification model relies on the time series of x-y coordinates, as well as the distance traveled and net displacement. We begin by investigating the migratory patterns of macrophages to gain a deeper understanding of their behavior. Although this analysis does not directly inform the deep learning model, it serves to highlight the intricate and distinct dynamics exhibited by different macrophage subtypes, which cannot be easily captured by a finite set of motility metrics. Our study uses cell trajectories to classify three macrophage subtypes: M0, M1, and M2. This advancement holds promising implications for the future, as it suggests the possibility of identifying macrophage subtypes without relying on shape analysis. As one of the representative vanadium-based electrode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs), VO2(B) owns excellent cycling stability and specific capacity, but the strong interlattice interactions lead to poor rate performance. Herein, multiphase, high ion diffusion rate Mg2VO4/VO2 (MVO/VO) heterostructures composed of nanoparticles were introduced and constructed based on a solid preinsertion method. The electrochemical results show that the MVO/VO electrode has excellent cycling stability and impressively high capacity and ion diffusion rate compared with pure VO2(B) (VO) and Mg2VO4 (MVO). Moreover, the reversible capacity of MVO/VO is found to be 393.6 mA h g–1 at a relatively low current density (0.3 A g–1). The MVO/VO electrode still exhibits a capacity retention of 83.6% even after 1000 charge/discharge applications, which indicates a stable performance. The decision-making process for pavement maintenance from a scientific perspective is based on accurate predictions of pavement performance. To improve the rationality of pavement performance indicators, comprehensive consideration of various influencing factors is necessary. To this end, four typical pavement performance indicators (i.e., Rutting Depth, International Roughness Index, Longitudinal Cracking, and Alligator Cracking) were predicted using the Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) database. Two types of data, i.e., local input variables and global input variables, were selected, and S-ANN and L-ANN models were constructed using a fully connected neural network. A comparative analysis of the predictive outcomes reveals the superior optimization of the L-ANN model. Subsequently, by incorporating structures such as self-attention mechanism, a novel predictive approach based on the Transformer architecture was proposed. The objective is to devise a more accurate predictive methodology for pavement performance indices, with the goal of guiding pavement maintenance and management efforts. Experimental results indicate that, through comparative analysis of three quantitative evaluation metrics (root mean square error, mean absolute error, coefficient of determination), along with visual scatter plots, the predictive model employing the fused Transformer architecture demonstrates higher robustness and accuracy within the domain of pavement performance prediction when compared to the L-ANN model. This outcome substantiates the efficacy and superiority of the model in terms of predictive performance, establishing it as a reliable tool for accurately reflecting the evolution of asphalt pavement performance. Schisandrin stands as one of the primary active compounds within the widely used traditional medicinal plant Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. This compound exhibits sedative, hypnotic, anti-aging, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties, showcasing its effectiveness across various liver diseases while maintaining a favorable safety profile. However, the bioavailability of schisandrin is largely affected by hepatic and intestinal first-pass metabolism, which limits the clinical efficacy of schisandrin. In this paper, we review the various pharmacological effects and related mechanisms of schisandrin, in order to provide reference for subsequent drug research and promote its medicinal value. Objective: To dynamically compare the longitudinal (time axis) and transverse (between groups) differences of the salivary cytokines during thalidomide maintenance treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis. Methods: A randomized, controlled, clinical trial was performed. After the initial prednisone treatment, thalidomide (50 mg/d vs. 25 mg/d) was used as a maintenance drug for 4 or 8 weeks. The salivary IL-4, 5, 6, 10, TNF-α, and IFN-γ were dynamically detected with a cytometric bead array. Results: Overall, the level of six elevated salivary cytokines after prednisone treatment was significantly downregulated, remained low during thalidomide maintenance, and rebounded at recurrence. The effect of 50 mg/d thalidomide on the salivary cytokines was not superior to 25 mg/d medication. The relapse-free period following drug withdrawal was the longest in the subgroup using 25 mg/d thalidomide for 8 weeks. The order of magnitude of IL-6 was the most obvious, and at week 8, only the level of IL-6 in the group (25 mg/d thalidomide for 8 weeks) continued to decline compared with the other groups. Conclusion: Thalidomide maintenance treatment can effectively sustain low levels of salivary IL-4, 5, 6, 10, TNF-α, and IFN-γ of recurrent aphthous stomatitis patients. IL-6 displayed a good correlation with the disease and is expected to become an index for diagnosis and follow-up. Due to viscoelastic characteristics, the strength values of the high-modulus asphalt mixtures (HMAM) obtained under different conditions (temperatures, loading rates, and stress states) are quite different, and the serving conditions of asphalt pavements are also varied. Thus, the strength under fixed conditions cannot reflect the mechanical performances of materials under real serving conditions, which leads to inaccuracies in the asphalt pavement structural design. To develop a precise strength evaluating method for high-modulus asphalt mixtures, the strength tests of high-modulus asphalt mixtures were implemented under different conditions (temperatures, loading rates, and stress states) in this study. The test results indicated that for each stress state, the variation of strength with loading rates under different temperatures can be characterized by power functions, and the variation of strength with temperatures under different loading rates can be characterized by exponential functions. The uniform characterizing model of strength under different conditions was established through the dimensionless method and the sigmoidal function. With the effects of temperature, loading rates, and stress states included, the strength obtained can better reflect the mechanical performances in actual pavement serving conditions. High levels of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mROS) are linked to cancer development, which is tightly controlled by the electron transport chain (ETC). However, the epigenetic mechanisms governing ETC gene transcription to drive mROS production and cancer cell growth remain to be fully characterized. Here, we report that protein demethylase PHF8 is overexpressed in many types of cancers, including colon and lung cancer, and is negatively correlated with ETC gene expression. While it is well known to demethylate histones to activate transcription, PHF8 demethylates transcription factor YY1, functioning as a co-repressor for a large set of nuclear-coded ETC genes to drive mROS production and cancer development. In addition to genetically ablating PHF8, pharmacologically targeting PHF8 with a specific chemical inhibitor, iPHF8, is potent in regulating YY1 methylation, ETC gene transcription, mROS production, and cell growth in colon and lung cancer cells. iPHF8 exhibits potency and safety in suppressing tumor growth in cell-line- and patient-derived xenografts in vivo. Our data uncover a key epigenetic mechanism underlying ETC gene transcriptional regulation, demonstrating that targeting the PHF8/YY1 axis has great potential to treat cancers. SUMMARY: Black pepper (Piper nigrum L.), the world renown as the King of Spices, is not only a flavorsome spice but also a traditional herb. Piperine, a species‐specific piper amide, is responsible for the major bioactivity and pungent flavor of black pepper. However, several key steps for the biosynthesis of piperoyl‐CoA (acyl‐donor) and piperidine (acyl‐acceptor), two direct precursors for piperine, remain unknown. In this study, we used guilt‐by‐association analysis of the combined metabolome and transcriptome, to identify two feruloyldiketide‐CoA synthases responsible for the production of the C5 side chain scaffold feruloyldiketide‐CoA intermediate, which is considered the first and important step to branch metabolic fluxes from phenylpropanoid pathway to piperine biosynthesis. In addition, we also identified the first two key enzymes for piperidine biosynthesis derived from lysine in P. nigrum, namely a lysine decarboxylase and a copper amine oxidase. These enzymes catalyze the production of cadaverine and 1‐piperideine, the precursors of piperidine. In vivo and in vitro experiments verified the catalytic capability of them. In conclusion, our findings revealed enigmatic key steps of piperine biosynthetic pathway and thus provide a powerful reference for dissecting the biosynthetic logic of other piper amides. This study investigates how disclosure type and disclosure time have impacts on organizational reputation when medical negligence occurs and whether the mechanism of concealment intention and offensiveness attribution serially mediates the relationship between stealing thunder and organizational reputation. The study also explores the moderating effects of an organizational/industrial history of crisis concealment. Based on three scenario-based experiments, the results demonstrate that, compared to a media disclosure, the self-disclosure effect elicits lower concealment intention and higher organizational reputation. The longer the disclosure time, the higher the concealment intention and the lower the organizational reputation. The findings also show that the effect of disclosure type on organizational reputation is mediated serially by concealment intention and offensiveness attribution. In addition, for hospitals with an organizational history of crisis concealment, the effect of stealing thunder on concealment intention and organizational reputation was weaker. Accurate prediction of TCR-pMHC binding is important for the development of cancer immunotherapies, especially TCR-based agents. Existing algorithms often experience diminished performance when dealing with unseen epitopes, primarily due to the complexity in TCR-pMHC recognition patterns and the scarcity of available data for training. We have developed a novel deep learning model, 'TCR Antigen Binding Recognition' based on BERT, named as TABR-BERT. Leveraging BERT's potent representation learning capabilities, TABR-BERT effectively captures essential information regarding TCR-pMHC interactions from TCR sequences, antigen epitope sequences and epitope-MHC binding. By transferring this knowledge to predict TCR-pMHC recognition, TABR-BERT demonstrated better results in benchmark tests than existing methods, particularly for unseen epitopes. Disease severity grading is the primary decision-making basis for the amount of pesticide usage in vegetable disease prevention and control. Based on deep learning, this paper proposed an integrated framework, which automatically segments the target leaf and disease spots in cucumber images using different semantic segmentation networks and then calculates the area of disease spots and the target leaf for disease severity grading. Two independent datasets of leaves and lesions were constructed, which served as the training set for the first-stage diseased leaf segmentation and the second-stage lesion segmentation models. The leaf dataset contains 1140 images, and the lesion data set contains 405 images. The proposed TRNet was composed of a convolutional network and a Transformer network and achieved an accuracy of 93.94% by fusing local features and global features for leaf segmentation. In the second stage, U-Net (Resnet50 as the feature network) was used for lesion segmentation, and a Dice coefficient of 68.14% was obtained. After integrating TRNet and U-Net, a Dice coefficient of 68.83% was obtained. Overall, the two-stage segmentation network achieved an average accuracy of 94.49% and 94.43% in the severity grading of cucumber downy mildew and cucumber anthracnose, respectively. Compared with DUNet and BLSNet, the average accuracy of TUNet in cucumber downy mildew and cucumber anthracnose severity classification increased by 4.71% and 8.08%, respectively. The proposed model showed a strong capability in segmenting cucumber leaves and disease spots at the pixel level, providing a feasible method for evaluating the severity of cucumber downy mildew and anthracnose. Fibrinogen is a protein that reflects systemic inflammation and regulates the immune response to disease. However, there is a scarcity of data on fibrinogen in recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS). We aimed to test the hypothesis that fibrinogen is involved in the aetiology of RAS. Between November 2016 and November 2018, we included 109 minor RAS patients and 29 age‐ and sex‐matched controls in a single‐center, observational study. Their clinical history and ulcer manifestations led to the diagnosis of minor RAS. The ulcer severity score (USS) was used to assess disease severity, and fibrinogen was also collected. We conducted three analyses: Analysis 1 (comparison of fibrinogen levels between patients and controls), Analysis 2 (comparison of fibrinogen levels between high and low USS patients) and Analysis 3 (comparison of fibrinogen levels between before and after anti‐inflammatory treatment in patients). The fibrinogen levels in the 109 minor RAS patients were statistically higher than in the 29 controls (mean [SD], 2.6 [0.5] vs. 2.3 [0.3]; Student's t‐test, p < 0.001). However, there were no significant differences in fibrinogen levels among the 43 patients with high USS and the 39 patients with low USS (mean [SD], 2.7 [0.5] vs. 2.6 [0.4]; Student's t‐test, p = 0.278). Furthermore, fibrinogen levels were significantly higher before anti‐inflammatory treatment in comparison to those after anti‐inflammatory treatment in the 35 paired patients (mean [SD], 2.6 [0.4] vs. 2.5 [0.4]; Student's t‐test, p = 0.026). Interestingly, fibrinogen levels were significantly higher in the 35 paired patients after anti‐inflammatory treatment compared to the 29 control subjects (mean [SD], 2.5 [0.4] vs. 2.3 [0.3]; Student's t‐test, p = 0.026]. Fibrinogen may play a role in the aetiology of RAS and may be a drug target for RAS treatment. Clinicians should be alert that high serum fibrinogen levels might be associated with the risk of RAS.
