High-performance and stable spintronic devices have garnered considerable attention in recent years. Based on first-principle and Monte Carlo calculations, we demonstrate that under reasonable carrier doping, H-VSe2 exhibits 100% spin polarization, a magnetic anisotropy energy of 581 μeV, a tunable easy-axis, and a Curie temperature of 330 K. Moreover, Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interactions in H-VSe2 and magnetic hysteresis loops are determined theoretically for the first time, which provides more precise and comprehensive descriptions of its magnetic properties under finite temperatures and external magnetic field. Data breaches have the potential to weaken employee morale, corporate reputations, and customer and supplier relationships, while also disrupting marketing investments and financial performance. Research on reducing their frequency and harm focuses on tactical solutions, though breaches represent serious, even existential threats to firms. To date, research has not attempted to simultaneously address the closely connected phenomena of preventing and recovering from data breaches. The authors propose that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a strategic variable offering dual protection: reducing the likelihood of data breaches and attenuating harm when breaches occur. Drawing on stakeholder theory, the authors distinguish between internal (addressing primary stakeholders) and external (addressing secondary stakeholders) CSR. Study 1 shows that external CSR has no prophylactic effect, while moderate and high levels of internal CSR are equally effective at preventing data breaches, compared with low levels of internal CSR. Study 2 assesses mitigation following a data breach by examining (1) short-term effects (in the form of an event study on cumulative abnormal returns) and (2) long-term effects (with time-series analysis of Tobin's q). Improving piezoelectric and ferroelectric responses of group III-nitrides is desired for their potential applications in the emerging microelectromechanical-based systems. One possible approach to realize the optimization and control of functionalities is to bring together compounds with different properties to form the ordered multilayer superlattices. In this work, we systematically investigate the phase stability, piezoelectricity, and ferroelectricity in a class of wurtzite-structure-derived nitride superlattices with a periodic alternation of chemically and/or structurally different layers. The structural heterogeneity and phase stability of the ordered wurtzite-structure-derived superlattices are intimately related to the ionic radii mismatch between the substitutional compounds and the parent nitrides. Moreover, the internal structural distortion of the nitride superlattices has a crucial impact on the ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity, namely, piezoelectric and ferroelectric responses become increasingly enhanced as the buckled atomic layers becomes flatter. This work offers fundamental physical insights into the structure–property relationships in nitride superlattices and may propose some material design strategies for achieving high-performance materials with desired responses. Single atom alloys (SAAs) often bring new chemistry in heterogeneous catalysis and well-defined structure for the study of structure–activity relationship (SAR). However, the existing pressure gap causes the reported SARs quite divergent. Herein, we have studied CO activation over Ni/Cu(100) SAAs in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) and millibar range. While the Ni SAAs formed on Cu(100) significantly enhance the CO adsorption strength under UHV conditions, the CO treatment at elevated pressure leads to notable surface carbon and oxygen deposition through surface reaction. Density functional theory calculations revealed that either dissociation or disproportionation is thermodynamically forbidden for the coverage of CO less than 5/16 ML. However, these two reaction pathways can be opened at higher CO coverages due to the elevated energy state involving repulsion between adsorbed CO. Purpose: To examine the behavior and function of human gingival fibroblasts growing on healing abutments with or without laser-textured topography. Materials and Methods: Human primary gingival connective tissue fibroblasts were cultured on healing abutments with machined or laser-textured (Laser-Lok, BioHorizons) surfaces. Cellular and molecular responses were evaluated by a variety of tests, including cell density assay (WST-1), fluorescence microscopy, real-time quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and detachment tests. Results: The machined surface showed monodirectional traces and scratches from milling, whereas the laser-textured surface showed a distinct morphology consisting of monodirectional mesoscale channels (15-µm pitch) and woven oblique microridges formed within the channels. There were no differences in initial fibroblast attachment, subsequent fibroblast proliferation, or collagen production between the machined and laser-textured surfaces. Fibroblasts growing on a laser-textured surface were found to spread in one direction along the mesochannels, while cells growing on machined surfaces tended to spread randomly. Fibroblasts on laser-textured surfaces were 1.8 times more resistant to detachment than those on machined surfaces. An adhesive glycoprotein (fibronectin) and transmembrane adhesion linker gene (integrin ß-1) were upregulated on laser-textured surfaces. Conclusions: The increased fibroblast retention, uniform growth, and increased transcription of cell adhesion proteins compellingly explain the enhanced tissue-level response to laser-created and hybrid-textured titanium surfaces. These results provide a cellular and molecular rationale for the tissue reaction to this unique surface; in addition, they support its extended use, from implants and healing abutments to diverse prosthetic components where enhanced soft tissue responses would be desirable. In this work, we present a simple design of a compact and miniaturized wideband bandpass filter (BPF) based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and microstrip line. Through the order extension, the filtering effect and the order of the Chebyshev response of the designed BPF can be indirectly controlled by preserving square notches (SNs) on the SIW. By introducing one or two SNs in the SIW structure, the resonance frequencies of different modes can be controlled, thus achieving dual- and tri-mode BPFs with wideband and low insert loss. The working principle of the designed BPFs was illustrated by modal analysis, field distribution, and equivalent circuit theory. Based on this, the dual- and tri-mode BPFs with center frequencies of 6.8 and 7 GHz were designed and demonstrated numerically. Further experimental results indicate that the proposed tri-mode BPF has low insertion loss (0.25 dB), compact size (0.27λg2), and wideband bandwidth (60%). In addition, the tri-mode BPF achieves a broadband out-of-band rejection of 1.5f0 (f0 is the center resonance frequency) below the −10 dB level, making it highly promising for various applications in related fields. In this work, pure and S–N/WO3 (1%–7%) nanoparticles (NPs) have been developed for the degradation of MB dye. Optical properties, vibrational analysis, morphology, structural analysis, and photocatalytic activity of the samples have been evaluated using a variety of characterization techniques, including UV–vis, PL, FTIR, SEM, and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The XRD patterns showed that the stability of the orthorhombic phase of WO3 was affected by the concentrations of S and N. In SEM, nanospheres with an average size of 80 nm of NPs have been observed. The PL results showed that the e−, h+ recombination rate for the S–N7%/WO3 sample was the lowest. The degradation of MB dye has also been investigated in order to investigate the photocatalytic performance. Remarkably, S–N7%/WO3 shows the best results, with a maximum degradation of 90% in 120 min. The stability of the improved catalyst was tested using recycling and trapping studies. It is significant to investigate the calcium carbonate (CaCO3) precipitation mechanism during the carbon capture process; nevertheless, CaCO3 precipitation is not clearly understood yet. Understanding the carbonation mechanism at the atomic level can contribute to the mineralization capture and utilization of carbon dioxide, as well as the development of new cementitious materials with high-performance. There are many factors, such as temperature and CO2 concentration, that can influence the carbonation reaction. In order to achieve better carbonation efficiency, the reaction conditions of carbonation should be fully verified. Therefore, based on molecular dynamics simulations, this paper investigates the atomic-scale mechanism of carbonation. We investigate the effect of carbonation factors, including temperature and concentration, on the kinetics of carbonation (polymerization rate and activation energy), the early nucleation of calcium carbonate, etc. Then, we analyze the local stresses of atoms to reveal the driving force of early stage carbonate nucleation and the reasons for the evolution of polymerization rate and activation energy. Results show that the higher the calcium concentration or temperature, the higher the polymerization rate of calcium carbonate. The energy problem in green manufacturing has attracted enormous attention from researchers and practitioners in the manufacturing domain with the global energy crisis and the aggravation of environmental pollution. The distributed blocking flow shop scheduling problem (DBFSP) has considerable application scenarios in connection with its widespread application in the industry under the background of intelligent manufacturing. A multi-objective discrete differential evolution (MODE) algorithm is proposed to solve the energy-efficient distributed blocking flow shop scheduling problem (EEDBFSP) with the objectives of the makespan and total energy consumption (TEC) in this paper. The cooperative initialisation strategy is proposed to generate the initial population of the EEDBFSP. The mutation, crossover, and selection operators are redesigned to enable the MODE algorithm as applied to discrete space. A local search strategy based on the knowledge of five operators is introduced to enhance the exploitation capability of the MODE algorithm in the EEDBFSP. The non-critical path energy-efficient strategy is proposed to reduce energy consumption according to the specific constraints in the EEDBFSP. The effectiveness of each strategy in the MODE algorithm is verified and compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms. As a new production pattern, the hybrid seru system (HSS) originated from the actual production scenario. In the HSS, the implementation of the worker transfer strategy can further enhance the system's flexibility but is rarely studied at present. In this paper, we develop a reinforcement learning driven two-stage evolutionary algorithm (RL-TEA) to address the hybrid seru system scheduling problem with worker transfer (HSSSP-WT). To conquer this complex problem, the HSSSP-WT is divided into worker assignment-related subproblems (WS) and batch scheduling-related subproblems (BS) according to the problem characteristics. To effectively solve the subproblems, a probability modelbased exploration and a lower bound-guided heuristic are presented for the WS, and a greedy search is designed for the BS. Meanwhile, to improve search efficiency and effectiveness, a knowledgebased selection mechanism is proposed to determine which subproblem group to optimise in each generation by fusing a reinforcement learning technique and a lower bound filtering strategy. Moreover, an elite enhancement strategy inspired by the problem property is designed to improve the solution quality. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the worker transfer strategy and the superior performance of the RL-TEA compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms in solving the HSSSP-WT. Auditors' propensity to issue Going Concern Audit Reports (GCARs) is one of the proxies often used for audit quality. Although this propensity is a distinguishing characteristic of auditors, it does not indicate quality according to both theory and practice. In theory, higher quality auditors make fewer audit errors; they are more likely to issue GCARs to clients that deserve them and less likely to issue GCARs to clients that do not. Therefore, the propensity itself does not indicate quality. In practice, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) inspection reports reveal that the GCAR is rarely mentioned as a deficiency, and in the few cases in which it is discussed, the deficiency is attributed to evidence gathering and estimations, rather than to the GCAR decision itself. The theory and practice motivate our study. This article investigates the empirical ability of the GCAR propensity to proxy for audit quality and finds that different samples and different models yield different determinations of auditor quality. The theory-led prediction of LaBeH8, which has a high superconducting critical temperature (Tc) above liquid nitrogen under a pressure level below 1 Mbar, has been experimentally confirmed. YBeH8, which has a structural configuration similar to that of LaBeH8, has also been predicted to be a high-temperature superconductor at high pressure. In this study, we focus on the structural phase transition and superconductivity of YBeH8 under pressure by using first-principles calculations. Except for the known face-centered cubic phase of Fm 3 ̄ m, we found a monoclinic phase with P 1 ̄ symmetry. Moreover, the P 1 ̄ phase transforms to the Fm 3 ̄ m phase at ∼200 GPa with zero-point energy corrections. Interestingly, the P 1 ̄ phase undergoes a complex electronic phase transition from semiconductor to metal and then to superconducting states with a low Tc of 40 K at 200 GPa. The Fm 3 ̄ m phase exhibits a high Tc of 201 K at 200 GPa, and its Tc does not change significantly with pressure. When we combine the method using two coupling constants, λopt and λac, with first-principles calculations, λopt is mainly supplied by the Be–H alloy backbone, which accounts for about 85% of total λ and makes the greatest contribution to the high Tc. These insights not only contribute to a deeper understanding of the superconducting behavior of this ternary hydride but may also guide the experimental synthesis of hydrogen-rich compounds. The dispersion properties of the absorption coefficients [α(ν)] of different multi-component silicate oxide glasses have been studied in the frequency region below the boson peak by using THz-time-domain spectroscopy. The value of α(ν)/ν2 has been shown to exhibit a minimum level (R) at low frequency and subsequently a linear increase in the form of r(ν/νBP + E) with increasing frequency, where νBP is the boson peak frequency and R, r, and E are material-specific constants. It has also been found that R ∝ r and E is a constant common to most glasses. This α(ν)/ν2 behavior is ascribed to the dispersion property of the light-vibration coupling coefficient under the reasonable vibrational density of state function. The minimum (constant) and linear terms of the α(ν)/ν2 spectrum are originated from the physical/chemical disorder-induced charge fluctuations in the long-range scale (constant term) and short-range scale (linear term), respectively. The fluctuating charge (σ1) caused by uncorrelated, long-range disorders has primary significance for determining the sub-THz absorption dispersion properties, and its value has been determined for each glass material. Background: This study estimated the prevalence of Singapore infants and toddlers who met the new Singapore Integrated 24-Hour Activity Guidelines forEarly Childhood and examined its association with well-being. Methods: A total of 267 parents of children aged between 0 and 2 years completed an online questionnaire that consists of the Singaporean Children Lifestyle Questionnaire and either the Pediatric Quality of Life (PedsQL) Inventory Infant Scale or the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire. Well-being of infants was measured through parent responses to PedsQL and that of toddlers was measured through Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire. Data were benchmarked against age-specific guidelines for physical activity, screen time, and sleep in the Singapore Integrated 24-Hour Activity Guidelines for Early Childhood. Results: A higher percentage of infants (37.3%) than toddlers (20.6%) had met 3 guidelines. In contrast, a lower percentage of infants than toddlers met at least one or did not meet any guidelines (3.8% and 0% for infants vs 22.4% and 1.8% for toddlers, respectively). Infants who met more guidelines had significantly higher parent-reported PedsQL total scale score than infants who met fewer guidelines (P <.05). However, the present study found that the number of guidelines met was not associated to infants' PedsQL scale score and toddlers' total difficulty score (P >.05). Conclusion: Adherence to this set of local guidelines should be widely publicized, so parents will have greater awareness and knowledge on cultivating good physical activity, screen time, and sleep habits for their child from a young age. The heteronuclear group 14 M-iron tetracarbonyl clusters MFe(CO)4− (M = Si, Ge, Sn) anions have been generated in the gas phase by laser ablation of M–Fe alloys and detected by mass and photoelectron spectroscopy. With the support of quantum chemical calculations, the geometric and electronic structures of MFe(CO)4− (M = Si, Ge, Sn) are elucidated, which shows that all the MFe(CO)4− clusters have the M–Fe bonded, iron-centered, and carbonyl-terminal M–Fe(CO)4 structure with the C2v symmetry and a 2B2 ground state. The M–Fe bond can be considered a double bond, which includes one σ electron sharing bond and one π dative bond. The C–O bonds in those anionic clusters are calculated to be elongated to different extents, and in particular, the C–O bonds in SiFe(CO)4− are elongated more. The Si–Fe alloy thus turns out to be a better collocation to activate the C–O bonds in the gas phase among group 14. The on-demand assembly of 2D heterostructures has brought about both novel interfacial physical chemistry and optoelectronic applications; however, existing studies rarely focus on the complementary part—the 2D cavity, which is a new-born area with unprecedented opportunities. In this study, we have investigated the electric field inside a spacer-free 2D cavity consisting of a monolayer semiconductor and a gold film substrate. We have directly captured the built-in electric field crossing a blinking 2D cavity using a Kelvin probe force microscopy–Raman system. The simultaneously recorded morphology (M), electric field (E), and optical spectroscopy (O) mapping profile unambiguously reveals dynamical fluctuations of the interfacial electric field under a constant cavity height. Moreover, we have also prepared non-blinking 2D cavities and analyzed the gap-dependent electric field evolution with a gradual heating procedure, which further enhances the maximum electric field exceeding 109 V/m. Our work has revealed substantial insights into the built-in electric field within a 2D cavity, which will benefit adventures in electric-field-dependent interfacial sciences and future applications of 2D chemical nanoreactors. While survey research has expanded rapidly in recent times, little scholarly work has examined interviewer misbehaviour. Inspired by audit principles, this paper aims to identify themes of misbehaviours associated with interviewing. Using thematic analysis, it provides exploratory insights into misbehaviours vis-à-vis audit reports prepared by auditors through their observations of interviewers administering face-to-face surveys. 398 audit reports were reviewed and scrutinised for depictions of misbehaviour, and a total of eight themes were derived. These themes were then aggregated into three domains: issues with asking questions (78%), issues with probing answers (16%), and issues with conduct (5%). Analysis of the themes reveals behavioural patterns that point to actionable areas that researchers and market research agencies can adopt to curb misbehaviour. Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy of intraoral scanners by comparing the marginal fit of 70 all-ceramic crowns fabricated from both conventional impressions and intraoral scans. Materials and Methods: A total of 70 posterior teeth requiring single-crown restorations randomly underwent either intraoral scanning or conventional impression-taking, followed by laboratory scanning of the casts in a parallel-group randomized controlled trial (RCT). Subsequently, 70 monolithic all-ceramic crowns were CAD/CAM fabricated; only the impression technique differed. The marginal fit, internal fit, adjustment time required for insertion and occlusal contacts, and visual analog scale (VAS) scores assessing dentists' satisfaction with the crowns were clinically evaluated by a calibrated examiner who was blinded to the groups. Data were analyzed using independent samples t test and likelihood-ratio test or Fisher exact test. All tests were performed with α = .05. Results: The mean marginal fit with intraoral scanning (57.94 ± 22.51 µm) was better than with diagnostic cast scanning (82.98 ± 21.72 µm). The difference was statistically significant (P = .000). The differences in internal fit, adjustment time for crown insertion and occlusal contacts, and VAS scores were also significant, and the secondary outcomes were in favor of intraoral scanning. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this clinical trial, CAD/CAM--fabricated single-tooth restorations in the posterior region produced with an intraoral scanning technique using TRIOS were found to be a more accurate, efficient alternative to restorations based on conventional impressions in combination with the laboratory scanning technique. The non-adiabatic relaxation processes and the fragmentation dynamics of Rydberg-excited N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylmethylenediamine (TMMDA) are investigated using femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron imaging and time-resolved mass spectroscopy. Excitation at 208 nm populates TMMDA in a charge-localized 3p state. Rapid internal conversion (IC) to 3s produces two charge-delocalized conformers with independent time constants and distinct population ratios. As the system explores the 3s potential surface, the structural evolution continues on a 1.55 ps timescale, followed by a slower (12.1 ps) relaxation to the ground state. A thorough comparison of the time-dependent mass and photoelectron spectra suggests that ionization out of the 3p state ends up with the parent ion, the vibrational energy of which is insufficient for the bond cleavage. On the contrary, by virtue of the additional energy acquired by IC from 3p, the internal energy deposited in 3s is available to break the C–N bond, leading to the fragment ion. Epoxy resin foams are lightweight materials commonly utilized as core materials in shipbuilding and aerospace applications. Mechanical properties and yielding behavior were the basis of the application of epoxy resin foams. In order to reveal the yield behavior and mechanical properties of epoxy resin foams. The compression and tension behavior of epoxy resin foams were investigated. The compression modulus and the tensile modulus increased with the strain rates and foams' density. Epoxy resin foams exhibited excellent toughness and the maximum elongation at break could reach 17.2%. The mechanical properties (εtotal < 5%) of epoxy resin foams were successfully predicted through combining phenomenological strain rate‐dependent constitutive model for epoxy resin and cell structures. The yield point was represented through the elastic strain fraction. The compressive elastic strain fraction (C∅e,εinelastic=0.2%) was 0.908, and the tensile elastic strain fraction (L∅e,εinelastic=0.2%) was 0.884. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Association between breast cancer (BC) and thyroid nodules (TNs) is still unclear. This research was to estimate the prevalence and risk factors of TN in Chinese BC women at initial diagnosis. Methods: 1731 Chinese early-stage BC women at initial diagnosis underwent thyroid ultrasound and 1:1 age-matched Chinese healthy women underwent health examination in corresponding period were enrolled for analysis. Results: Prevalence of TN and TI-RADS ≥ 4 TN in BC patients (56.27% and 9.76%) were higher than healthy people (46.04% and 5.49%), respectively, P < 0.001. Among BC patients, prevalence of TN and TI-RADS ≥ 4 TN in hormone receptor (HR)-positive patients (59.57% and 11.81%) were higher than HR-negative patients (48.77% and 5.10%), respectively, P < 0.001, while without difference between HR-negative patients and healthy people. After adjusting for age and BMI, HR-positive patients had higher risk of TN (OR = 1.546, 95%CI 1.251–1.910, P < 0.001) and TI-RADS ≥ 4 TN (OR = 3.024, 95%CI 1.943–4.708, P < 0.001) than HR-negative patients. Furthermore, the risk of TI-RADS ≥ 4 TN was higher in patients with estrogen receptor (ER) positive (OR = 2.933, 95%CI 1.902–4.524), progesterone receptor (PR) positive (OR = 1.973, 95%CI 1.378–2.826), Ki-67 < 20% (OR = 1.797, 95%CI 1.280–2.522), and tumor size < 2 cm (OR = 1.804, 95%CI 1.276–2.552), respectively, P < 0.001. Conclusions: Prevalence of TN, especially TI-RADS ≥ 4 TN, in Chinese early-stage BC women was higher than healthy people. HR-positive patients had higher prevalence and risk of TN, while without difference between HR-negative patients and healthy people. Objective: To compare the real‐world effectiveness and tolerability of calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and onabotulinumtoxinA in chronic migraine (CM) patients. Methods: This multicenter study involved retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data of CM patients treated with CGRP mAbs or onabotulinumtoxinA, including difficult‐to‐treat (DTT) patients (i.e., ≥3 preventive failures). Treatment outcomes were determined at 6 months based on prospective headache diaries and Migraine Disability Assessment (MIDAS). Results: The study included 316 (55 M/261F, mean age 44.4 ± 13.5 years) and 333 (61 M/272F, mean age 47.9 ± 13.4 years) CM patients treated with CGRP mAbs or onabotulinbumtoxinA, respectively. At 6 months, CGRP mAb treatment was associated with a greater decrease in monthly migraine days (MMDs) (−13.0 vs. −8.7 days/month, p < 0.001) and a higher ≥50% responder rate (RR) (74.7% vs. 50.7%, p < 0.001) compared with onabotulinumtoxinA injections. The findings were consistent in DTT patients (−13.0 vs. −9.1 MMDs, p < 0.001; ≥50% RR: 73.9% vs. 50.3%, p < 0.001) or those with medication‐overuse headache (MOH) (−13.3 vs. −9.0 MMDs, p < 0.001; ≥50% RR: 79.0% vs. 51.6%, p < 0.001). Besides, patients receiving CGRP mAbs had greater improvement (−42.2 vs. −11.8, p < 0.001) and a higher ≥50% RR (62.0% vs. 40.0%, p = 0.001) in MIDAS scores and a lower rate of adverse events (AEs) (6.0% vs. 21.0%, p < 0.001). However, none of the patients discontinued treatment due to AEs. Conclusions: In this multicenter, real‐world study, CGRP mAbs were more effective than onabotulinumtoxinA in CM patients, even in DTT or MOH patients. All of these injectables were well tolerated. This study seeks to explore how companies around the world create a culture of innovation by examining common themes that underpin innovation. Through a case study approach, we examined the innovation practices of nine companies and identified six key themes prevalent across all companies: (1) emphasis on research and development; (2) flexibility and adaptability; (3) diversity and inclusion; (4) continuous learning and development; (5) risk‐taking and experimentation; and (6) sustainability. Building on these themes, we propose a new framework for creating a culture of innovation, called the Innovation 360° framework—a systematic approach for companies to understand and build a culture of innovation. Innovation 360° is centered on the core tenets of diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, driven by internal "pull" and external "push" factors of innovation that emphasize flexibility and adaptability, continuous learning and development, and risk‐taking and experimentation. We also discuss the practical benefits and potential drawbacks of the framework. Ultimately, by embracing this framework, companies can improve their innovation capacity and stay ahead of the competition while demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility. Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most prevalent cancer globally. It's recognized that the molecular subtype of CRC, characterized by mismatch repair deficiency (dMMR) or microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H), plays a critical role in determining appropriate treatment strategies. This review examines the current molecular classifications, focusing on dMMR/MSI-H CRC and its subtypes: Lynch syndrome (LS), Lynch-like syndrome (LLS), and sporadic cases. Despite advances in understanding of these genetic backgrounds, clinical trials have not conclusively differentiated the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors among these subgroups. Therefore, while this review details the molecular characteristics and their general implications for treatment and prognosis, it also highlights the limitations and the need for more refined clinical studies to ascertain tailored therapeutic strategies for each subtype. Furthermore, this review summarizes completed and ongoing clinical studies, emphasizing the importance of developing treatments aligned more closely with molecular profiles. By discussing these aspects, the review seeks to provide a comprehensive analysis of oncological characteristics, presenting a detailed understanding of their implications for treatment and prognosis in dMMR/MSI-H CRC. Background: Mitochondria is prone to oxidative damage by endogenous and exogenous sources of free radicals, including particulate matter (PM). Given the role of mitochondria in inflammatory disorders, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, we hypothesized that supplementation of vitamin D may play a protective role in PM-induced mitochondrial oxidative damages of human bronchial epithelial BEAS-2B cells. Methods: BEAS-2B cells were pretreated with 1,25(OH)2D3, an active form of vitamin D, for 1 h prior to 24-hour exposure to PM (SRM-1648a). Oxidative stress was measured by flow cytometry. Mitochondrial functions including mitochondrial membrane potential, ATP levels, and mitochondrial DNA copy number were analyzed. Additionally, mitochondrial ultrastructure was examined using transmission electron microscopy. Intracellular and mitochondrial calcium concentration changes were assessed using flow cytometry based on the expression of Fluo-4 AM and Rhod-2 AM, respectively. Pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-6 and MCP-1, were quantified using ELISA. The expression levels of antioxidants, including SOD1, SOD2, CAT, GSH, and NADPH, were determined. Results: Our findings first showed that 24-hour exposure to PM led to the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) derived from mitochondria. PM-induced mitochondrial oxidation resulted in intracellular calcium accumulation, particularly within mitochondria, and alterations in mitochondrial morphology and functions. These changes included loss of mitochondrial membrane integrity, disarrayed cristae, mitochondrial membrane depolarization, reduced ATP production, and increased mitochondrial DNA copy number. Consequently, PM-induced mitochondrial damage triggered the release of certain inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6 and MCP-1. Similar to the actions of mitochondrial ROS inhibitor MitoTEMPO, 1,25(OH)2D3 conferred protective effects on mtDNA alterations, mitochondrial damages, calcium dyshomeostasis, thereby decreasing the release of certain inflammatory cytokines. We found that greater cellular level of 1,25(OH)2D3 upregulated the expression of enzymatic (SOD1, SOD2, and CAT) and non-enzymatic (GSH and NADPH) antioxidants to modulate cellular redox homeostasis. Conclusion: Our study provides new evidence that 1,25(OH)2D3 acts as an antioxidant, enhancing BEAS-2B antioxidant responses to regulate mitochondrial ROS homeostasis and mitochondrial function, thereby enhancing epithelial defense against air pollution exposure. While countries have responded by enforcing traffic laws and using electronic technology to enhance enforcement, challenges still need to be addressed, including blurred images and misjudgments by police agencies, and even exploiting loopholes in traffic enforcement frameworks to evade consequences through bribery or connections. exacerbating an accident and leaving victims and families in the lurch of the aftermath. To solve this problem, we proposed a data traceability law enforcement system based on blockchain and InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). The system ensures rapid traceability and protects law enforcement data from external attacks. The goal of leveraging blockchain's decentralized nature and smart contracts is to instill accountability and fairness in road safety measures, mitigate the effects of corruption, and pave the way for a safer and more just transportation environment. Our experimental results show that under our stress test of 50 transactions per second, the throughput can be as high as 300 and the maximum delay can reach 2.01s, which is enough to experimentally prove that our system is feasible. Our approach is designed to solve the data corruption problem caused by the centralized server being paralyzed. It applies to all technology enforcement, with high flexibility and scalability for all participants to join or set privileges. we also provide an automated traffic law enforcement system in a smart city. Individuals' continuous success in competitive interactions with conspecifics strongly affects their social hierarchy. Medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is the key brain region mediating both social competition and hierarchy. However, the molecular regulatory mechanisms underlying the neural ensemble in the mPFC remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that in excitatory neurons of prelimbic cortex (PL), lncRNA Sera remodels the utilization of Pkm Exon9 and Exon10, resulting in a decrease in the Pkm1/2 ratio in highly competitive mice. By employing a tet-on/off system, we disrupt or rebuild the normal Pkm1/2 ratio by controlling the expression of Pkm2 in PL excitatory neurons. We find that long-term Pkm2 modulation induces timely competition alteration and hysteretic rank change, through phosphorylating the Ser845 site of GluA1. Background: The relationship between Alzheimer's disease (AD)-related pathology and cognition was not exactly consistent. Objective: To explore whether the association between AD pathology and cognition can be moderated by frailty. Methods: We included 1711 participants from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database. Levels of cerebrospinal fluid amyloid-β, p-tau, and t-tau were identified for AD-related pathology based on the amyloid-β/tau/neurodegeneration (AT[N]) framework. Frailty was measured using a modified Frailty Index-11 (mFI-11). Regression and interaction models were utilized to assess the relationship among frailty, AT(N) profiles, and cognition. Moderation models analyzed the correlation between AT(N) profiles and cognition across three frailty levels. All analyses were corrected for age, sex, education, and APOEɛ4 status. Results: In this study, frailty (odds ratio [OR] = 1.71, p < 0.001) and AT(N) profiles (OR = 2.00, p < 0.001) were independently associated with cognitive status. The model fit was improved when frailty was added to the model examining the relationship between AT(N) profiles and cognition (p < 0.001). There was a significant interaction between frailty and AT(N) profiles in relation to cognitive status (OR = 1.12, pinteraction = 0.028). Comparable results were obtained when Mini-Mental State Examination scores were utilized as the measure of cognitive performance. The association between AT(N) profiles and cognition was stronger with the levels of frailty. Conclusions: Frailty may diminish patients' resilience to AD pathology and accelerate cognitive decline resulting from abnormal AD-related pathology. Radiotherapy demonstrates a synergistic effect with immunotherapy by inducing a transformation of "immune cold" tumors into "immune hot" tumors in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Nevertheless, the effectiveness of immunotherapy is constrained by low expression of tumor‐exposed antigens, inadequate inflammation, and insufficient tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TILs). To address this predicament, novel lutecium‐based rare earth nanoparticles (RENPs) are synthesized with the aim of amplifying radiation effect and tumor immune response. The nanoprobe is characterized by neodymium‐based down‐conversion fluorescence, demonstrating robust photostability, biocompatibility, and targetability. The conjugation of RENPs with a CXCR4 targeted drug enables precise delineation of breast tumors using a near‐infrared imaging system and improves radiation efficacy via lutetium‐based radio‐sensitizer in vivo. Furthermore, the study shows a notable enhancement of immune response through the induction of immunogenic cell death and recruitment of TILs, resulting in the inhibition of tumor progression both in vitro and in vivo models following the administration of nanoparticles. Hence, the novel multifunctional nanoprobes incorporating various lanthanide elements offer the potential for imaging‐guided tumor delineation, radio‐sensitization, and immune activation post‐radiation, thus presenting an efficient radio‐immunotherapeutic approach for TNBC. Background and Aims: Sleep‐disordered breathing (SDB) and nocturnal hypoxemia were known to be present in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), but the difference between SDB and nocturnal hypoxemia in patients who have chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTEPD) with or without pulmonary hypertension (PH) at rest remains unknown. Methods: Patients who had CTEPH (n = 80) or CTEPD without PH (n = 40) and who had undergone sleep studies from July 2020 to October 2022 at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital were enrolled. Nocturnal mean SpO2 (Mean SpO2) <90% was defined as nocturnal hypoxemia, and the percentage of time with a saturation below 90% (T90%) exceeding 10% was used to evaluate the severity of nocturnal hypoxemia. Logistic and linear regression analyses were performed to investigate the difference and potential predictor of SDB or nocturnal hypoxemia between CTEPH and CTEPD without PH. Results: SDB was similarly prevalent in CTEPH and CTEPD without PH (P = 0.104), both characterised by obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Twenty‐two patients with CTEPH were diagnosed with nocturnal hypoxemia, whereas only three were diagnosed with CTEPD without PH (P = 0.021). T90% was positively associated with mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) and pulmonary vascular resistance in patients with CTEPH and CTEPD without PH (P < 0.001); T90% was also negatively related to cardiac output in these patients. Single‐breath carbon monoxide diffusing capacity, sex and mPAP were all correlated with nocturnal hypoxemia in CTEPH and CTEPD without PH (all P < 0.05). When pharmacists need to obtain medical records for related research, patients can decide whether to share medical records, and hospitals can also revoke pharmacist access rights at any time to achieve more private, secure, and convenient sharing of medical records. Malnutrition may result in abnormal biochemical and hematological indices. This planned prespecified analysis investigated the effects of a specialized oral nutritional supplement (ONS) on biochemical and hematological indices in community-dwelling older adults at risk of malnutrition. In the Strengthening Health in ELDerly through nutrition (SHIELD) study, 811 older adults aged 65 years and above took part in this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center study. Participants were randomly allocated to either a complete and balanced specialized ONS (each serving provides 262 kcal, 10.5 g protein, 7.75 µg vitamin D3, and 0.74 g calcium β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate) and dietary counselling (intervention group) or a placebo and dietary counselling (placebo group). Both groups consumed study products twice a day for 180 days. Data were collected at baseline, day 90, and day 180. Blood analysis results at follow-up visits were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of covariance with adjustments for confounders. Overall, when compared with the placebo group, the intervention group showed significantly greater urea (6.0 mmol/L vs. 5.4 mmol/L, p < 0.001), urea to creatinine ratio (4.39 vs. 4.26, p < 0.001), prealbumin (24.9 mg/dL vs. 24.0 mg/dL, p < 0.001), vitamin B12 (480.0 pmol/L vs. 420.1 pmol/L, p < 0.001), and globulin levels (26.8 g/L vs. 26.5 g/L, p = 0.032). The intervention group also had a significantly higher absolute reticulocyte count (62.0 × 103/µL vs. 58.2 × 103/µL, overall p < 0.001) and mean platelet volume (10.0 fL vs. 9.9 fL, overall p = 0.003). Furthermore, significant improvements were seen in total protein at day 90 (71.7 g/L vs. 71.1 g/L, p = 0.017) and in absolute monocyte count at day 90 (0.50 × 103/µL vs. 0.47 × 103/µL, p = 0.009) in the intervention group. In conclusion, daily consumption of a specialized ONS for six months led to significant improvements in biochemical and hematological indices in community-dwelling older adults at risk of malnutrition. Respiratory therapists (RTs) frequently encounter death in their work with critically ill patients. Healthcare providers' attitudes toward death significantly affect their approach to caring for dying patients; however, there is a lack of knowledge on RTs' attitudes toward death. This study examines how the work environment and personal characteristics of RTs influence their attitudes toward death. Utilizing the Death Attitude Profile-Revised-Chinese questionnaire, a cross-sectional survey compared non-critical care RTs (non-CCRTs, N = 86) to critical care RTs (CCRTs, N = 85). Non-CCRTs displayed significantly lower scores in overall acceptance of death compared to CCRTs (p = 0.015) and a tendency to actively avoid thoughts about death (p = 0.005). CCRTs scored higher in "neutral acceptance" (p = 0.015), and non-CCRTs exhibited higher scores on items reflecting a negative attitude toward death. RTs with shorter professional tenures showed heightened fear of death and avoidance tendencies. Perception of life and death education correlated with higher "fear of death" and "death avoidance" scores (p = 0.001). The findings indicate that CCRTs demonstrate a more neutral acceptance of death. Objective: This study aims to explore ADH4 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), its prognostic impact, and its immune correlation to provide novel insights into HCC prognostication and treatment. Methods: HCC prognostic marker genes were rigorously selected using GEO database, Lasso regression, GEPIA, Kaplan-Meier and pROC analyses. The expression of interested markers (ADH4, DNASE1L3, RDH16, LCAT, HGFAC) in HCC and adjacent tissues was assessed by Immunohistochemistry (IHC). We observed that ADH4 exhibited low expression levels in liver cancer tissues and high expression levels in normal liver tissues. However, the remaining four genes did not manifest any statistically significant differences between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissue and adjacent non-cancerous tissue. Consequently, ADH4 became the primary focus of our research. ADH4 expression was validated by signed-rank tests and unpaired Wilcoxon rank sum tests across pan-cancer and HCC datasets. Clinical significance and associations with clinicopathological variables were determined using Kaplan-Meier, logistic regression and Cox analyses on TCGA data. The ADH4-related immune responses were explored by Spearman correlation analysis using TIMER2 data. CD68, CD4, and CD19 protein levels were confirmed by IHC in HCC and non-cancerous tissues. Results: ADH4 showed significant downregulation in various cancers, particularly in HCC. Moreover, low ADH4 expression was associated with clinicopathological variables and served as an independent prognostic marker for HCC patients. Additionally, ADH4 affects a variety of biochemical functions and may influence cancer development, prognosis, and treatment by binding to immune cells. Furthermore, at the immune level, the low expression pattern of ADH4 is TME-specific, indicating that ADH4 has the potential to be used as a target for cancer immunotherapy. Conclusion: This study highlights the diagnostic, prognostic and immunomodulatory roles of ADH4 in HCC. A buried utility tunnel can effectively protect internal pipes by preventing or mitigating corrosion, external damage, and facilitating maintenance. During an earthquake, the energy from seismic waves is transmitted through the soil to the utility tunnel, then to the support structure, and ultimately to the pipe, making the support's interaction with the pipe crucial. In this study, scaled utility tunnel system undergoes shaking table tests at a horizontally non-homogeneous site. Various supports within the tunnel are modeled dynamic elements to assess energy dissipation. The attenuated seismic waves are then applied directly to the pipe to evaluate its response and validate the results against the tests. The study reveals that greater sliding between the tunnel and pipe leads to more energy dissipation and reduces the likelihood of significant pipe deformation. Situations with increased sliding of the side-wall angle steel support exhibit smaller strain peaks. Longitudinal sliding becomes more pronounced only when peak ground acceleration exceeds 0.8 g in longitudinal loading. The transverse sliding response under longitudinal loading is not influenced by the input acceleration peak. Additionally, modeling the internal pipe's interaction with the support as a simplified dynamic element yields more accurate responses, offering a foundational calculation for the design of shock absorption and vibration isolation in utility tunnel supports. Introduction: Further clinical validation is required to determine whether transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) can replace opioids and be used in combination with remimazolam for sedation during gastrointestinal endoscopy. Methods: A total of 108 outpatients who underwent diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy were randomly divided into three groups: fentanyl plus remimazolam group (group C), TEAS plus remimazolam group (group E), and placebo-TEAS plus remimazolam group (group P). The assessments of patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and pain scale score during the examination constituted the primary endpoints of the study. The secondary endpoints were the time of recovery, recovery of normal behavioral function and discharge, incidence of adverse reactions, and dose of remimazolam. Results: Compared with group C, group E had a greater median score for patient satisfaction at follow-up and a slightly lower median score for physician satisfaction. The pain score of group E was slightly greater than that of group C, but the difference was not significant. However, in group C, the incidence of hypoxemia, the rate of nausea and the severity of vertigo were greater, and the number of patients discharged and resuming normal behavioral function was greater than those in the other two groups. The dose of remimazolam in group C and group E was less than that in group P. Conclusions: TEAS combined with moderate sedation of remimazolam can provide an ideal sedative effect, which preferably suppresses discomfort caused by gastrointestinal endoscopy and has fewer sedation-related complications. This study investigates the role of USP47, a deubiquitinating enzyme, in the tumor microenvironment and its impact on antitumor immune responses. Analysis of TCGA database revealed distinct expression patterns of USP47 in various tumor tissues and normal tissues. Prostate adenocarcinoma showed significant downregulation of USP47 compared to normal tissue. Correlation analysis demonstrated a positive association between USP47 expression levels and infiltrating CD8+ T cells, neutrophils, and macrophages, while showing a negative correlation with NKT cells. Furthermore, using Usp47 knockout mice, we observed a slower tumor growth rate and reduced tumor burden. The absence of USP47 led to increased infiltration of immune cells, including neutrophils, macrophages, NK cells, NKT cells, and T cells. Additionally, USP47 deficiency resulted in enhanced activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and altered T cell subsets within the tumor microenvironment. These findings suggest that USP47 plays a critical role in modulating the tumor microenvironment and promoting antitumor immune responses, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target in prostate cancer. Background: To provide a preoperative prediction model for lymph node metastasis in pancreatic cancer patients and provide molecular information of key radiomic features. Methods: Two cohorts comprising 151 and 54 pancreatic cancer patients were included in the analysis. Radiomic features from the tumor region of interests were extracted by using PyRadiomics software. We used a framework that incorporated 10 machine learning algorithms and generated 77 combinations to construct radiomics-based models for lymph node metastasis prediction. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was subsequently performed to determine the relationships between gene expression levels and radiomic features. Molecular pathways enrichment analysis was performed to uncover the underlying molecular features. Results: Patients in the in-house cohort (mean age, 61.3 years ± 9.6 [SD]; 91 men [60%]) were separated into training (n = 105, 70%) and validation (n = 46, 30%) cohorts. A total of 1,239 features were extracted and subjected to machine learning algorithms. The 77 radiomic models showed moderate performance for predicting lymph node metastasis, and the combination of the StepGBM and Enet algorithms had the best performance in the training (AUC = 0.84, 95% CI = 0.77–0.91) and validation (AUC = 0.85, 95% CI = 0.73–0.98) cohorts. We determined that 15 features were core variables for lymph node metastasis. Proliferation-related processes may respond to the main molecular alterations underlying these features. Conclusions: Machine learning-based radiomics could predict the status of lymph node metastasis in pancreatic cancer, which is associated with proliferation-related alterations. Coral polyps are composed of four tissues; however, their characteristics are largely unexplored. Here we report biological characteristics of tentacles (Te), mesenterial filaments (Me), body wall (Bo), and mouth with pharynx (MP), using comparative genomic, morpho-histological, and transcriptomic analyses of the large-polyp coral, Fimbriaphyllia ancora. A draft F. ancora genome assembly of 434 Mbp was created. Morpho-histological and transcriptomic characterization of the four tissues showed that they have distinct differences in structure, primary cellular composition, and transcriptional profiles. Tissue-specific, highly expressed genes (HEGs) of Te are related to biological defense, predation, and coral-algal symbiosis. Me expresses multiple digestive enzymes, whereas Bo expresses innate immunity and biomineralization-related molecules. Many receptors for neuropeptides and neurotransmitters are expressed in MP. This dataset and new insights into tissue functions will facilitate a deeper understanding of symbiotic biology, immunology, biomineralization, digestive biology, and neurobiology in corals. Effective weight management interventions involve a combination of behavioral strategies focusing on dietary changes. Tracing the change through mobile apps has been proven to be a valuable platform for facilitating weight management in many countries. However, the effectiveness of mobile app-based dietary intervention on weight management in Taiwan remains to be determined. By using the designated mobile app, this study aimed to assess the efficacy of the diet intervention, which is based on a 2:1:1 portion control plate and a flexible low-carbohydrate (FLC) diet. This 8-week retrospective cohort study involved 10,297 participants who were divided into two groups: the intervention group (joined an 8-week diet intervention program with the daily diet record assessed by registered dietitians) and the control group (voluntarily using the app without instructional materials or coaching). After eight weeks of intervention, the intervention group showed a higher weight loss percentage (−4.78% vs. −1.54%), body mass index (BMI) (−1.26 kg/m2 vs. 0.69 kg/m2), and diet record completeness (73.52% vs. 28.91%) compared with the control group. With respect to gender, male participants showed higher baseline weight and higher weight loss (−6.02%) in the intervention group. In the intervention group, 2871 participants (33.4%) lost less than 4% of their weight, 5071 participants (58.9%) lost 4–8% of their body weight, and 662 participants (7.7%) lost >8% of their weight. Compared to the low-effectiveness group (weight lost <4%), the high-effectiveness group (weight lost >8%) had a significantly higher diet record completeness (91.61 ± 15.99 vs. 55.81 ± 32.92), dietary compliance (green light %) (88.93 ± 9.9 vs. 77.75 ±17.5), protein intake % (26.34 ± 2.85 vs. 23.49 ± 3.56), and fat intake % (49.66 ± 6.36 vs. 44.05 ± 7.37). Most importantly, the high-effectiveness group had a lower carbohydrate intake % (24.1 ± 7.86 vs. 32.46 ± 9.61). The results remained significant after being stratified by gender. This study found that the use of online applications plus the intervention of dietitians is beneficial for short-term weight loss. The composition of nutrients and dietary compliance also significantly impacted weight loss. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
