Purpose: To translate and cross-culturally adapt Fukushima Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Scale into a Simplified Chinese version (FLS-25-SC), and evaluate the reliability and validity of FLS-25-SC in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis., Methods: Test-retest reliability was assessed by Intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). Construct validity was analyzed by correlations between FLS-25-SC and the Swiss Spinal Stenosis (SSS) Questionnaire, Visual analogue scale (VAS) as well as the short form (36) health survey (SF-36)., Results: The original version of the FLS-25 was cross-culturally adapted and translated into Simplified Chinese. FLS-25-SC was indicated to have excellent reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.941, ICC = 0.952). FLS-25-SC had almost perfect correlation with Physical Functioning (r = -0.870, P < 0.001) subscale of SF-36. Moderate to substantial correlations between FLS-25-SC and Symptom severity (r = 0.542, P < 0.001), Physical function (r = 0.604, P < 0.001) subscales of Swiss Spinal Stenosis (SSS) Questionnaire, VAS (r = 0.613, P < 0.001), as well as Role Physical (r = -0.537, P < 0.001) and Bodily Pain (r = -0.474, P < 0.001). Background: Cardiac arrest remains a serious global health issue worldwide which claims for review and improvement. High motivation among resuscitators could lead to high-quality resuscitation and better outcomes. This study aimed to translate and cross-culturally adapt the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Motivation Scale into Spanish and assess the psychometric properties of the Spanish version (s-CPRMS)., Methods: A sample of critical care and acuity-emergency physicians and nurses (N = 352) participated in an observational cross-sectional study structured in 3 phases., Results: Face and content validity was confirmed for the s-CPRMS (s-CVI = 0.88). The ordinal alpha was 0.847, ranging from 0.796 to 0.92 for the factors, indicating good reliability and temporal stability (mean ICC = 0.701; p < 0.001). Aim of the Study: The aims of this study were to translate and culturally adapt the Polish version (PL) of the Neuropathic Pain Questionnaire-Short Form (NPQ-SF), as well as to compare this questionnaire to other diagnostic tools in terms of reliability and psychometric validity., Clinical Rationale for the Study: Neuropathic pain (NP) affects up to 10% of the general population. Despite a large number of studies, almost 50% of patients have a poor therapeutic outcome. Diagnostic tools are intended to distinguish between NP and non-NP (NoP) and to guide the examiner to perform further diagnostics in accordance with the guidelines., Material and Methods: A total of 140 patients with chronic pain (ChP), 90 with NP and 50 with NoP, were enrolled into this study. NPQ-SF-PL has been developed following the guidelines for translation and cultural adaptation. Reliability of the translated version was examined using internal consistency, predictive validity, and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)., Results: In the study, women predominated over men, and the average age was 53.22. Cronbach's α value for the entire scale was 0.76 and ICC for test-retest reliability was 0.631. Receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis gave a sensitivity of 90.0% and a specificity of 88.0%. Area under the curve was 0.94. NPQ-SF-PL was moderately associated with self-completed Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs (S-LANSS) and weakly associated with the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The NP group obtained statistically significantly lower scores than the NoP group in all domains of the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), thus indicating worse health status. Patients aged over 41 years presented a worse quality of life compared to younger ones. Also, more than half of the patients with NP of both genders experienced symptoms of mild or more severe depression., Conclusions: NPQ-SF-PL is a valid screening tool for assessing NP in Polish chronic pain patients. The obtained results showed very good psychometric properties and adequate internal consistency. The repeatability of the questionnaire indicated moderate reliability. Clinical implications/future directions. We believe this study will provide physicians with a new instrument for the evaluation of NP for clinical and research purposes.

Objective: This study aimed to develop the Turkish version of the Brief Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire (B-MHQ) and to demonstrate its reliability and validity for evaluating hand function in the Turkish population with hand/wrist disorders., Methods: This study was conducted in accordance with Beaton et al.'s Guidelines for the Process of Cross-Cultural Adaptation of SelfReport Measures. A total of 54 patients with various hand and wrist problems were included in the study. The B-MHQ and Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (Q-DASH) were used to evaluate hand function, and the visual analog scale (VAS) was used for the assessment of pain, which were completed by the subjects at baseline and 7 days later., Results: The Turkish version of the B-MHQ showed good internal consistency, as evidenced by Cronbach alpha coefficients ranging from 0.895 to 0.876, and excellent test-retest reliability with an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.968. In addition, B-MHQ was strongly correlated with Q-DASH (r=-0.878) and moderately correlated with VAS (r=-0.445)., Conclusion: The Turkish version of the B-MHQ seems to be a reliable and valid tool for assessing hand function in Turkish-speaking patients with hand disorders., Level of Evidence: Level III, Diagnostic Study.

Objectives: The 13-item pain catastrophizing scale (PCS) is the most commonly used measure of pain catastrophizing. A validated Finnish version of the PCS has previously been unavailable. The objectives were to translate the original English version of the PCS into Finnish (PCS-FI), then to evaluate (i) structural validity of the PCS-FI with a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), (ii) internal reliability with Cronbach's alpha, Omega, and Omega hierarchical, (iii) convergent validity with measures of well-being, quality of life, sleep quality, symptoms of central sensitization, and anxiety, and (iv) known-groups validity between participants with chronic low back pain (CLBP) and pain-free controls., Methods: The translation process was performed with established guidelines. The PCS-FI was psychometrically validated using 92 participants with CLBP and 53 pain-free controls., Results: Structural validity with CFA supported a bifactor solution. However, low reliability was found for the three specific factors ( ω h ranging from 0.14 to 0.18) compared to the general factor ( ω h = 0.88) suggesting that only the total score should be used. Convergent validity analysis showed satisfactory correlations and medium effect sizes with the other patient-reported outcome measures. Participants with CLBP had significantly higher total PCS-FI scores than pain-free controls., Conclusions: The PCS-FI appears to be a valid and reliable instrument for assessing pain-related catastrophizing in Finnish-speaking populations. Purpose: The Spinal Appearance Questionnaire (SAQ) is a widely validated tool for assessing perceptions of spinal deformity in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients. This study aimed to develop and validate a Greek version of the SAQ (GR-SAQ)., Methods: A cross-cultural adaptation of the SAQ following international guidelines was performed. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were evaluated. Convergent validity was assessed by correlating the GR-SAQ with the Appearance domain of Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22) and the Cobb angle with the Trunk Shift domain of GR-SAQ. Divergent validity was examined through the relationship between GR-SAQ, patient characteristics, and clinical measures including Cobb angle, DIERS Formetric 4D angle, and scoliometer readings., Results: The study included 61 AIS patients (52 females, 13.91 ± 2.57 years, 25.33 ± 10.14° Cobb angle). GR-SAQ exhibited good internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.794) and excellent test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.931, 95%CI: 0.880-0.960). Correlations between GR-SAQ and SRS-22 showed a low-to-moderate negative correlation (r = -0.351, p = 0.006). The Trunk Shift domain moderately correlated with the Cobb Angle (r = 0.393, p = 0.002). Background: Trauma is a prevalent issue in public health, where individuals who experience physical injuries are also at risk of compromised mental health. Psychological resilience is considered a positive indicator that can predict the prognosis of trauma patients throughout their traumatic experiences. Currently, there is a lack of tools in China for measuring the psychological resilience of trauma patients. The aim of this study was to translate and cross-culturally adapt the Trauma Resiliency Scale (tRS-18) into Chinese and to test its reliability and validity in China., Methods: The Trauma Resiliency Scale (tRS-18) was translated into a Chinese version suitable for the Chinese language environment using the Brislin translation model. A convenience sampling method was used to select 588 trauma patients as study subjects. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, 14-day test-retest reliability, and split-half reliability. Validity was examined through the content validity index, structural validity, and convergent validity. Structural validity was specifically evaluated through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)., Results: The total variance explained by the single-factor model in the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) of the Chinese version of the tRS-18 was 62.048%, and the factor loading of each item exceeded 0.4. The results of the CFA indicated that the model demonstrated a favorable fit index (X 2 /df = 1.620; RMSEA = 0.046; SRMR = 0.026; NFI = 0.945; CFI = 0.978; GFI = 0.927; TLI = 0.975; IFI = 0.978). The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the reliability index was 0.963, the test-retest reliability was 0.970, and the split-half reliability was 0.964, which were all within the reference value range., Conclusion: The Chinese version of the tRS-18 has good validity and reliability and can be used as an assessment tool for trauma resilience in trauma patients., (© 2024. The perceived personal control (PPC) questionnaire serves as an instrument to assess the concept of PPC, which refers to a person's perception of their ability to achieve positive outcomes while avoiding the negative effects of a given situation. Developed and used as a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) in genetic counseling, the PPC questionnaire has been translated and validated in several languages, but not in French. The aim of this study was to cross-culturally adapt and validate a French version of the PPC questionnaire to evaluate genetic counseling services for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC). After the translation into French, cognitive interviews were conducted with nine participants who had attended genetic counseling for HBOC to examine the adequacy of this French version and to verify participants' understanding of the questionnaire items. Cognitive interview data suggested that slight modifications should be made to four of the nine items and that it would be beneficial to add a short introduction to ensure that participants' interpretation corresponded to the intended meaning. Psychometric validation was then conducted with 99 participants who had also attended genetic counseling for HBOC. Counselees completed the questionnaire before and after their genetic consultation. The acceptability of the questionnaire was demonstrated by the presence of few missing items. The original three-factor solution was not confirmed by our exploratory factor analysis, suggesting that the questionnaire should be used as a one-dimensional instrument. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was high, with Cronbach's alpha of 0.89 before genetic counseling and 0.88 after. The significant increase in PPC scores before and after genetic counseling supports the responsiveness of the questionnaire. Convergent validity was confirmed by positive association with counselees' satisfaction with genetic counseling. In spite of its importance, studies presenting detailed development procedures of alternate forms of verbal memory paradigms remains limited and unclear in terms of word selection criteria, while failing to consider word familiarity factors, despite its crucial role on episodic memory retrieval and encoding mechanisms. The present study aims to present the cross-cultural linguistic adaptation and development procedures of alternate forms of the Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test to the Brazilian context (FCSRT) based on word familiarity. After translation and backtranslation procedures, 231 new words were gathered and underwent a step-by-step familiarity analysis. Initially, overall familiarity feel of each word was assessed through the Familiarity Form (FF) during phase 1, and exposure frequency to words were later assessed through the Familiarity Questionnaire (FQ) completed by healthy controls during phase 2 with the remaining words considered ambiguous in terms of familiarity. Three alternate forms of the FCRST were then developed and assessed in terms of familiarity by the FQ during phase 3, and later administered in healthy control groups during phase 4. Repeated measures analysis revealed no significant differences in terms of familiarity and memory performance among the developed forms. Limitations are discussed, and recommendations are offered for future studies.

Background: Intermittent self-catheterization (ISC) is widely considered the gold standard for treating patients with neurogenic bladder (NB). Healthcare professionals and catheter users must optimize ISC care to improve patients' quality of life. To achieve this, the Intermittent Self-Catheterization Questionnaire (ISC-Q) is a valuable tool with clear and easy-to-understand items. However, this scale has yet to be adapted for use in China, and its reliability and validity need to be tested through cross-cultural adaptation., Objectives: The objective of this study was to culturally adapt the ISC-Q and develop the Chinese version of the ISC-Q (C-ISC-Q), and assess its reliability and validity among patients with NB., Methods: With the authorization of the ISC-Q author, the Beaton mode was used to adapt the scale cross-culturally. The study was conducted from June 2020 to June 2021 in three phases: committee-based translation from English to Chinese, Delphi expert consultations ( n = 5) for cultural adaptation, and a cross-sectional study ( n = 149) for validation., Results: The C-ISC-Q has 24 items and four dimensions. The critical ratio of each item is over 3.0, and the correlation coefficient between each item and the scale's total score is above 0.4. The Cronbach's α value for the scale is 0.930, and for each dimension, it is between 0.870-0.92. The retest reliability for the scale is 0.894, and for each dimension is between 0.751-0.889. The content validity at the item level ranges from 0.8~1.0, and at the scale level is 0.9. The criterion-related validity of the scale was -0.708, and the correlation for each dimension was 0.329-0.624. The principal component analysis identified four common factors, with a cumulative contribution rate of 67.846%., Conclusions: The C-ISC-Q is culturally sensitive, reliable, and valid to measure the quality of life for patients with NB. Objectives: This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the Injury-Psychological Readiness to Return to Sport scale (I-PRRS) into Thai and evaluate the measurement properties of the Thai version (TH-I-PRRS)., Methods: The I-PRRS was translated according to international guidelines. Athletes who had undergone anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction during the previous 6 months to 5 years were recruited to complete two sets of questionnaires. At baseline, participants filled out the TH-I-PRRS questionnaire and other relevant measures. After 2 weeks, they completed the TH-I-PRRS again, along with the Global Rating of Change scale., Results: The TH-I-PRRS was successfully translated from English. A total of 142 patients (mean age: 30.7 ​± ​8.9 years; 83.1% male) participated. Eight of nine predefined hypotheses (88.9%) regarding correlations between the TH-I-PRRS and other measures were confirmed, indicating good construct validity. The TH-I-PRRS exhibited excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ​= ​0.92; 95% CI: 0.90-0.94) and high test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient ​= ​0.83; 95% CI: 0.66-0.90). Background: The Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score for patellofemoral pain and osteoarthritis (KOOS-PF) is a condition-specific patient-reported outcome measure that is used to evaluate patients with patellofemoral pain., Purpose: To translate the KOOS-PF into the Thai language, to make necessary adaptations to a Thai cultural context, and to assess the measurement properties of the Thai version of the KOOS-PF (TH-KOOS-PF) using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) checklist., Study Design: Cohort study (diagnosis); Level of evidence, 3., Methods: This study was conducted between December 2021 and May 2023. Language translation of the KOOS-PF was performed according to guidelines for the cross-cultural adaptation of self-report measures. Eligible participants aged 18 to 50 years were asked to complete various patient-reported outcome measures including the TH-KOOS-PF at 3 time points: baseline, 2 weeks after baseline for test-retest reliability analysis, and 2 months after baseline for responsiveness assessment., Results: The KOOS-PF was successfully translated and culturally adapted to create the TH-KOOS-PF. A total of 86 participants (mean age, 37.0 ± 8.1 years; 59.3% female) with patellofemoral pain participated in the validation process. Construct validity of the TH-KOOS-PF was demonstrated by confirmation of all a priori hypotheses. The standardized Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.88 (95% CI, 0.83-0.91), which indicated good internal consistency. Test-retest reliability was high, with an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.87 (95% CI, 0.77-0.92). The TH-KOOS-PF demonstrated good responsiveness, as evidenced by all predefined hypotheses' being confirmed, and there were no floor or ceiling effects. Using an anchor-based approach, the minimal clinically important difference was 11.6 points., Conclusion: The results of this study revealed the TH-KOOS-PF to be a valid, reliable, and responsive tool for assessing Thai patients with patellofemoral pain. Background: The Medication-Related Burden Quality of Life (MRB-QoL) is a 31-item valid and reliable patient-reported measure of medicine burden on functioning and well-being in people with long-term conditions (LTC)., Objectives: To translate, culturally adapt, and content validate the MRB-QoL into Arabic., Methods: A rigorous approach to cross-cultural adaptation proposed by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) guideline was followed. After 3 forward translations and 2 backward translations, a multidisciplinary expert panel assessed the content validity (CV) of the items through a 2-round e-modified Delphi method followed by two-step cognitive debriefings with patients with LTC using think-aloud and probing techniques. An item-content validity index (I-CVI) score of ≥0.78 was considered acceptable. The original questionnaire developers and other researchers, as members of the review committee, reviewed and approved the Arabic version., Results: Five semantic and 3 cultural translation discrepancies were identified and resolved by rewording the items. The 2 backward translations did not reveal significant problems, and equivalence to the original tool was confirmed following committee review. The Arabic version showed acceptable CV parameters. E -modified Delphi involved 9 experts in round one and 7 in round 2. The I-CVI scores ranged from 0.67 to 1.0, and agreement was reached after 2 rounds. The CVI for the final version of the MRB-QoL was 0.96. Expert panel review showed that the MRB-QoL-Arabic version is relevant (CVI = 0.92), important (CVI = 0.97), clear (CVI = 0.98), and comprehensive in measuring the burden of medicines. Data from 5 cognitive interviews showed that items and concepts included in the Arabic version of the MRB-QoL are relevant to the targeted sample, clear, and easy to understand., Conclusion: The MRB-QoL Arabic version was developed and content validated. However, further evaluation of its other psychometric properties is necessary before it can be utilized in clinical and research settings. Background: The Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI) is a patient-reported screening instrument that can be used to identify and assess central sensitization (CS)/Central Sensitization Syndrome (CSS)-related symptoms., Objective: The aim was to translate the CSI into Arabic (CSI-Ar) and to subsequently validate its psychometric properties., Design: Cross-sectional., Methods: The CSI was translated and cross-culturally adapted into Arabic, and validated following international standardized guidelines. This study included patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain ( n = 264) and healthy control participants ( n = 56). Patients completed the CSI-Ar, Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), Depression, Anxiety, and Stress scale (DASS-21), Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK), and 5-level EuroQol-5D (EQ-5D). Patients completed the CSI-Ar twice to assess test-retest reliability. To evaluate discriminative validity, healthy controls participants completed the CSI-Ar. Statistical analyses were conducted to test the internal consistency, reliability, and structural, construct and discriminant validity of CSI-Ar., Results: The CSI-Ar showed acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.919) and excellent test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.874). The CSI-Ar scale had significant correlations ( P < 0.001) with all PCS subscales and total score (Spearman's rho = 0.459-0.563, P < 0.001), all DASS-21 subscales and total score (Spearman's rho = 0.599-0.685, P < 0.001), the TSK (Spearman's rho = 0.395, P < 0.001), and the EQ-5D (Spearman's rho = -0.396, P < 0.001). The Mann-Whitney U-test showed a statistically significant difference between the patient group and the healthy control group ( P < 0.001), with the healthy controls displaying a lower average CSI-Ar score (12.27 ± 11.50) when compared to the patient group (27.97 ± 16.08). Background: The intermittent self-catheterization questionnaire (ISC-Q) is a valid and reliable tool to assess the quality of life (QOL) in patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) who engage in ISC. The aim of this research is to culturally adapt the ISC-Q and evaluate its psychometric properties within the Chinese patient population., Methods: The cross-sectional research was meticulously conducted in two pivotal stages: initially, the focus was on cross-cultural adaptation, followed by an extensive phase of psychometric testing. This comprehensive analysis involved 405 Chinese patients with NLUTD who use ISC. Various analyses, including evaluations of the floor and ceiling effects, item analysis, content validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (EFA and CFA), assessments of convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity. Additionally, Cronbach's alpha was utilized to determine internal consistency, and test-retest reliability was measured using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)., Results: No floor and ceiling effects were observed. The content validity index was 0.967. The EFA identified four factors, accounting for 64.953% of the total variance, and this four-factor structure was confirmed by the CFA. The fit indices in CFA were favorable, with χ 2 / df  = 1.999, root mean square error of approximation = 0.070, comparative fit index = 0.916, Tucker-Lewis index = 0.900, goodness-of-fit index = 0.863, and incremental fit index = 0.917. The average variance extracted for the four factors ranged from 0.466 to 0.565, with composite reliability values ranging from 0.776 to 0.859. The ISC-Q showed a positive correlation with the intermittent self-catheterization acceptance questionnaire ( r = 0.557, P < 0.001). Background: Neck self-awareness, related to sensorimotor dysfunction, can be monitored with the Fremantle Neck Awareness Questionnaire (FreNAQ). The cross-cultural adaptation of the FreNAQ in Greek (FreNAQ-GR) and an assessment of its psychometric properties were conducted., Methods: This study included 104 participants (65 female) with non-specific chronic neck pain (NSCNP). Once the cross-cultural adaptation process of the FreNAQ-GR was complete, the testing of its construct validity was conducted via an exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The construct validity examination also included a correlational analysis with a Pain Intensity Visual Analogue Scale (PI-VAS), the Neck Disability Index (NDI), the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK), the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), and demographics. The internal consistency of the FreNAQ-GR was also examined. A sub-sample of participants (n = 30) completed the FreNAQ-GR again after 5-7 days., Results: The dataset was appropriate for EFA (measure of sampling adequacy KMO = 0.763 and Bartlett's test of sphericity p < 0.001). The FreNAQ-GR demonstrated a single-factor 6-item structure (items 7-9 removed), explaining 53.69% of the common variance. Statistically significant correlations (Spearman's) were registered between the FreNAQ-GR (both versions) and the NDI (r = 0.33/0.29, p < 0.001), the TSK (r = 0.46/0.41, p < 0.001), and the PCS (r = 0.37/0.33, p < 0.001). For the 9-item and the 6-item FreNAQ-GR, the internal consistency (Chronbach's a/McDonald's ω) was 0.80/0.79 and 0.826/0.816, respectively. The test-retest reliability was excellent for both versions ICC 2,1 (95% CI) = 0.98/0.98 (0.97-0.99/0.95-0.99), with low error values SEM = 0.90/0.74 and MDC 95% = 2.49/2.05 points., Conclusions: The FreNAQ-GR is suitable for assessing neck self-awareness in Greek-speaking patients with NSCNP.

Psychological safety has recently emerged as a central construct, strictly implicated in mental health and emotional well-being. The Neuroception of Psychological Safety Scale (NPSS) is the first scale designed to assess feelings of psychological safety from a multidimensional perspective. However, the robustness of its factorial structure requires further examination in large community samples, and evidence of construct validity along with measurement invariance across genders is scarce. The present study aimed to address these gaps through a comprehensive cross-validation approach. A community sample of 660 Italian adults, aged 18-65, completed self-report questionnaires including the NPSS, the Compassionate Engagement and Action Scale (CEAS), the Sussex-Oxford Compassion for Others (SOCS), and the Body Perception Questionnaire (BPQ). A three-factor model, i.e., Social Engagement , Compassion , and Bodily Sensations , demonstrated a good fit to the data in two random subsamples. Moreover, the measurement model was factorially invariant across genders. Model-based omega coefficients supported the internal consistency of the NPSS scores (ω ranged between 0.879 and 0.918). Zero-order correlations between NPSS subscales and CEAS, SOCS, and BPQ provided construct validity evidence. Additionally, inter-correlations between latent factors and Harman's single-factor test supported the discriminant validity of the NPSS dimensions. Overall, this study provided compelling evidence regarding the psychometric properties of the NPSS, demonstrating for the first time the invariance of its factorial structure across gender.

Background: The Ankle Ligament Reconstruction-Return to Sport After Injury (ALR-RSI) scale can be utilized for assessing patients who have previously sustained lateral ankle ligament injury before returning to sport. Given its original development for use in different languages, it is essential to translate and validate this scale for application to the Chinese population., Purposes: To translate and culturally adapt the ALR-RSI scale into a Chinese version and assess its reliability and validity., Study Design: Cohort study (Diagnosis); Level of evidence, 2., Methods: The procedure of translation and cross-cultural adaptation was performed following the recommended guidelines and the Chinese version of ALR-RSI (ALR-RSI-CHN) was conducted in patients with lateral ankle ligament surgery. Feasibility was assessed by floor/ceiling effects. Reliability was assessed by using Cronbach α as a measure to analyze internal consistency, while the intraclass correlation coefficient was utilized to examine test-retest reliability. Validity was assessed by using Spearman coefficients to analyze the correlations between ALR-RSI-CHN, the Karlsson scale, and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) scale., Results: A total of 66 participants were included. The ALR-RSI-CHN scale showed good feasibility with no floor/ceiling effects. The internal consistency of the scale was adequate with a Cronbach α of 0.93, and test-retest reliability was excellent with an interclass correlation coefficient of 0.97 (95% CI, 0.92-0.99). The ALR-RSI-CHN scale demonstrated moderate correlation with the Karlsson scale ( r = 0.48 [ range , 0.26-0.65]) and strong correlation with the AOFAS scale ( r = 0.55 [ range , 0.35-0.71]). Purpose: To cross-culturally adapt and validate the Radboud Dysarthria Assessment (RDA) and the speech component of the Radboud Oral Motor inventory for Parkinson's disease (ROMP-speech) into the Arabic language among Lebanese subjects with dysarthria., Materials and Methods: This study included 50 participants with dysarthria. The Arabic versions of the RDA (A-RDA) and the ROMP-speech (A-ROMP-speech) were administered in addition to the Arabic Speech Intelligibility test, the Lebanese Voice Handicap Index-10 (VHI-10lb) and semantic verbal fluency tasks. The maximum performance tasks were analyzed using the Praat software. The A-RDA qualitative recording form and the A-ROMP-speech were assessed for construct validity and internal consistency. The convergent validity of the maximum performance tasks, the severity scale, and the A-ROMP-speech were evaluated., Results: Exploratory factor analysis of the qualitative recording form extracted 3 factors explaining 82.973% of the total variance, and it demonstrated high internal consistency (α = 0.912). The maximum performance tasks of the RDA correlated significantly with the corresponding Praat scores. The severity scale and the A-ROMP-speech correlated fairly to strongly with the Arabic Speech Intelligibility test (r s =-0.695 and -0.736, p  < 0.001) and the VHI-10lb ( r  = 0.539 and 0.640, p  < 0.001)., Conclusion: The A-RDA and the A-ROMP-speech are valid and reliable dysarthria tools among Lebanese subjects.

Introduction: The Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire (PSQ) was developed to assess general pain sensitivity., Objective: This study aimed to validate the Greek version of PSQ., Methods: The questionnaire was translated into Greek (PSQ-GR) and piloted in a small sample of patients with chronic pain (n = 35). A total of 146 chronic pain patients and healthy volunteers completed the PSQ-GR, the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI). To evaluate the test-retest reliability, 36 volunteers completed the PSQ-GR twice over 7 ± 2 days., Results: Internal consistency was excellent (Cronbach's alpha 0.90-0.96) for PSQ-total, PSQ-minor, and PSQ-moderate. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient was estimated at 0.90-0.96 for PSQ-total, PSQ-minor and PSQ-moderate and the SEM was 0.59-0.90 for PSQ-total, PSQ-minor and PSQ-moderate approximately. The smallest detectable change was 0.48 for PSQ-total, 0.47 for PSQ-minor and 0.44 for PSQ-moderate. Positive and significant correlations were observed between PSQ-GR and HADS (r = 0.38, p < 0.01), PCS (r = 0.41, p < 0.01) and CSI (r = 0.30, p < 0.01). Background: The EQ-5D-Y is a generic preference-weighted measure for children and adolescents which was developed within Europe. Two versions exist, the EQ-5D-Y-3L (Y-3L) and EQ-5D-Y-5L (Y-5L). This study aimed to cross-culturally adapt the Y-3L and Y-5L for use in Singapore and to assess the content validity, specifically, the relevance and comprehensiveness of the EQ-5D-Y descriptive system (DS) in Asia., Methods: To culturally adapt the instruments, an expert panel consisting of paediatricians and primary school educators were consulted. Modifications suggested by the expert panel were tested via cognitive debriefing interviews with children aged 8-12 in Singapore. To assess the content validity of the EQ-5D-Y DS, interviews were conducted with both healthy (n = 8) and ill children (n = 6) aged 8-15. In the interviews, children discussed their experience with poor health and commented on the comprehensiveness and relevance of the EQ-5D-Y DS., Results: The cross-cultural adaptation process led to minor modifications to the UK English Y-3L and Y-5L versions, including using phrases familiar to the local children and adding examples to facilitate understanding. The five health dimensions in the EQ-5D-Y DS were spontaneously elicited when children discussed their experience with poor health. All health dimensions related to poor health elicited from the interviews fell into three broad categories: physical health (e.g. Appetite, Mobility, and Sleep), mental well-being (e.g. Annoyed/Frustrated and Scared/Worried), and social relationships (e.g. Family and Friends). The EQ-5D-Y DS was generally found to be relevant and comprehensive, although some health dimensions that may be relevant to the local population (Social relationship and Appetite) were not covered., Conclusions: The UK English EQ-5D-Y instruments were adapted to produce the Singapore English EQ-5D-Y instrument that were comprehensible to local children as young as 8 years old. The EQ-5D-Y DS was generally relevant and comprehensive to measure poor health of local children. The Preference for Intuition and Deliberation in Food Decision-Making Scale (E-PID) was developed to evaluate both intuitive and deliberative food decision-making within a single instrument. However, its psychometric properties have only been assessed among German-speaking participants. The main aim of the present study was to evaluate evidence of validity and reliability of the E-PID among 604 Brazilian adult women. Exploratory ( n = 289) and confirmatory factor analyses ( n = 315) were conducted to evaluate the factor structure of the E-PID. Convergent validity was assessed correlating the E-PID with measures of eating behaviors (Tree-Factor Eating Questionnaire-18), intuitive eating (Intuitive Eating Scale-2), and a measure of beliefs and attitudes towards food (Food-Life Questionnaire-SF). McDonald's Omega coefficient (ω) was used to test the internal consistency of the E-PID. Results from an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis supported a two-factor structure with seven items. We found good internal consistency (McDonald's ω = 0.77-0.81). Furthermore, the E-PID demonstrated adequate convergent validity with measures of intuitive, restrictive, emotional and uncontrolled eating, and beliefs and attitudes towards food. Results support the use of the E-PID as a measure of intuition and deliberation in food decision-making among Brazilian adult women, expanding the literature on eating decision-making styles.

Introduction: Media health literacy emerges as a response to the vast array of informational disorders prevalent in media communications. Given the absence of a measurement tool for this type of literacy in Spanish-speaking communities, the aim of the present study is to conduct a cross-cultural adaptation of the Media Health Literacy (MeHLit) questionnaire into Spanish and to analyze its psychometric properties in a sample of nursing students., Methods: The Spanish version of the MeHLit questionnaire (MeHLit-SV) was obtained through a process involving translation, back-translation, evaluation of the proposed items by a group of 22 experts, and a pilot study with 80 Spanish nursing students. Content validity was assessed using each item's content validity index (CVI) and Aiken's V (VdA), while internal consistency was evaluated through Cronbach's Alpha., Results: Following the translation and adaptation process, the final version of the MeHLit-SV comprised 21 items organized into five dimensions. The CVI values exceeded 0.82 for all items, and the overall content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.9. Furthermore, the results of Aiken's V surpassed the threshold considered acceptable (0.70). After piloting, the questionnaire demonstrated high internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.936., Conclusion: The findings of this research support the reliability and validity of the MeHLit-SV for use among nursing students to measure their level of media health literacy. Background: The Sexual Health Scale (QLQ-SH22) is the only cancer-specific measure of sexual health. It has never been translated into Arabic. In order to envisage effective healthcare strategies that improve sexual quality of life, the validation of the Moroccan version of this scale is a crucial step in exploring the influence of cancer and its treatment on patients in the Moroccan context. In this regard, this study aimed to validate a Moroccan Arabic version among patients with cancer., Method: A total of 280 Moroccan patients with cancer participated in this study from August 2022 to April 2023. The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the QLQ-SH22 was performed following the EORTC guidelines. Psychometric validation was explored using the reliability of internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA)., Results: The analysis revealed a greater internal consistency for both sexual satisfaction (α = 0.83) and sexual pain (α = 0.86). The intraclass correlation coefficient indicated an excellent level of test-retest reliability (from 0.925 to 0.993). The CFA demonstrated high-performing model fit indices (χ2/df = 1.17, SRMR = 0.05, RMSEA = 0.035, GFI = 0.94, CFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.99, IFI = 0.99, NFI = 0.94). The concurrent validity between the QLQ-C30 and QLQ-SH22 confirmed a strong correlation between the fatigue scales in both questionnaires (r = 0.69). This version showed good discrimination between known groups., Conclusions: The QLQ-SH22 Moroccan Arabic version has demonstrated a high level of reliability and validity, and therefore it is now ready for use.

Background: The PedsQL™ 4.0 Generic Core Scales (GSC) have been translated into over 60 languages, but use in the sub-Saharan African region is limited. This study aimed to cross-culturally adapt and validate the PedsQL™ 4.0 GCS child self-report and teen self-report versions into the Chichewa language for Malawi., Methods: The English (USA) versions were adapted (translation, back translation and cognitive interviews to evaluate conceptual equivalence) into Chichewa. We recruited 289 children (8-17 years) in Blantyre, Malawi. Classical psychometrics at the item level (missing data, endorsement frequencies, item redundancy) and scale level (internal consistency, convergent, discriminant and known groups validity) was used to evaluate the new Chichewa versions., Results: Six items were found to need cultural adaptation for Malawi. There were problems with missing data (< 5%) and adjacent endorsement frequency (< 10%) among younger children. Internal consistency reliability was acceptable (Cronbach α > 0.7). Convergent validity was generally strong (correlations > 0.4). Discriminant validity (p > 0.05) was evident with respect to gender and age, but not for school grade (p < 0.05). Effect sizes indicating known groups validity were in the expected direction but of variable magnitude., Conclusion: We have successfully adapted the PedsQL™ 4.0 GCS child self-report and teen self-report into Chichewa for use in Malawi. Many aspects of the psychometric evaluation were promising, though some elements were more mixed and we have not yet been able to evaluate test-retest reliability or responsiveness. Introduction: The purpose of this study is to culturally adapt the Awareness and Beliefs about Cancer (ABC) measure for use in the Hispanic/Latino population living in the United States (US)., Methods: In accordance with Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) Consortium guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation of measures for content and linguistic validity, we conducted: two forward-translations, reconciliation, two back-translations, revision and harmonization, six cognitive interviews, revision, external expert review, and finalization of the version. We used a mixed methods approach, conducting cognitive interviews with Hispanic/Latino community members while also convening an expert panel of six clinicians, health professionals, and community representatives and including the in the entire process. After cross-culturally adapting the ABC measure, we assessed the psychometric properties of the instrument using item response theory analysis. Item parameters, discrimination and category thresholds, and standard errors were calculated. For each of the adapted subdomains, we used item information curves to report the graphical profile of item effectiveness., Results: Twenty-two Hispanic/Latino community members were enrolled in cognitive interviews, and Hispanics/Latinos fluent in Spanish completed the measure to assess its psychometric properties. Cognitive interviews revealed opportunities to improve items. Key changes from the original measure include the inclusion of gender inclusive language and an inquiry into e-cigarette use on items related to smoking habits. Psychometric property analyses revealed that the anticipated delay in seeking medical help, general cancer beliefs, and cancer screening beliefs and behaviors subdomains had some slope parameters that were < 1; this implies that those items were not able to adequately discriminate the latent trait and had poor performance., Discussion: The adapted ABC measure for US Hispanics/Latinos meets content and linguistic validity standards, with construct validity confirmed for cancer symptom recognition and barriers to symptomatic presentation subdomains, but revisions are necessary for others, highlighting the need for ongoing refinement to ensure the cultural appropriateness of instruments., Competing Interests: JCa was employed by Heritage Care, Inc. Background: The Osteoarthritis Knowledge Scale (OAKS) is a validated tool for assessing knowledge about hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA). However, to date, there has been no translation and adaptation of the OAKS for the Turkish population., Objectives: To translate and cross-culturally adapt the OAKS into Turkish and to assess its psychometric properties in the Turkish population with and without hip or knee OA., Methods: The OAKS was translated following accepted guidelines. A validation study assessed internal consistency, test-retest reliability and measurement error. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted to assess the factor structure., Results: A total of 278 participants (n = 70 with hip OA, n = 105 with knee OA, and n = 103 without OA) were included. Internal consistency was 0.72, 0.79 and 0.79 for participants with hip OA, knee OA, and no OA, respectively. The test-retest intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.72 (95% CI; 0.45-0.85), 0.89 (95% CI; 0.82-0.93) and 0.88 (95% CI; 0.79-0.93) for participants with hip OA, knee OA and no OA, respectively. It had three principal components accounting for 57.2% of the total variance., Conclusions: The Turkish version of the OAKS is a reliable and valid tool for measuring OA knowledge in the Turkish population, including those with and without hip and knee OA. Test-retest reliability was below acceptable levels in the population with hip OA only. Introduction and Hypothesis: The objective was to cross-culturally adapt and check for the reliability, internal consistency, and validity of the Nocturia Quality of Life Questionnaire (N-QoL) in Brazilian Portuguese (N-QoL-Br)., Methods: The questionnaire was translated according to international guidelines, included forward-translation, back-translation, and consensus among an expert committee. Participants with nocturia completed the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder, and the General Quality of Life Assessment Questionnaire SF-36 (Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey), in addition to the N-QoL-Br. The Brazilian version was applied in men and women with nocturia twice within a range of 4 weeks. Psychometric properties such as content validity, construct validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability were tested., Results: Content validity was considered adequate. Eighty-four men and women participated in the study. Good internal consistency in the domains and final score of the N-QoL-Br was observed, with Cronbach α greater than 0.9. The test-retest reliability was also high, with an intraclass correlation coefficient greater than 0.9 for the domain sleep/energy, bother/concern, and total score (0.98, 0.98, and 0.97 respectively)., Conclusions: The Portuguese version of the N-QoL-Br presents good internal consistency and reproducibility and it can be considered adequate and valid for evaluating the impact of nocturia on the quality of life of men and women in the Brazilian population., (© 2024. Background: It is important to map the clinical competence of newly graduated nurses in Nordic countries. The use of a common Nordic instrument could provide insights into nurses' levels of self-assessed clinical competence and perceptions of their need for professional development., Aim: To translate and culturally adapt the original Norwegian version of the Professional Nurse Self-Assessment Scale II (PROFFNurse SAS II) into (1) Danish, (2) Finnish and (3) Icelandic versions., Method: The PROFFNurse SAS II was translated and cross-culturally adapted. This translation was inspired by the process used in the Guidelines for Cross-Cultural Adaptation., Result: The translation and cultural adaptation processes employed the required steps and provided specific details. In addition, practical issues encountered during the translation process while translating and adapting instruments that may influence future translations were revealed. This study found that having a professional bilingual/bicultural agency translator was partly problematic in the process of translation and found that it is important to adjust the translations to each country's specific words used in nursing., Conclusion: Translating the PROFFNurse SAS II instrument into all Nordic languages enables us to use the instrument from a Nordic perspective and across various countries. Background: Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are tools of increasing interest in the sports population. The purpose of this study was to perform the cross-cultural adaptation and reliability analysis of the 4 Domain Sports Patient-Reported Outcome Measure (4 DSP) into Spanish., Methods: A six-stage cross-cultural adaptation protocol was executed to obtain the Spanish version of the 4 DSP (S-4DSP). Subsequently, the questionnaire was administered to a population of 108 postoperative athletes with ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injuries. The questionnaire was administered again after 30 days. Acceptability, floor and ceiling effects, internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha), and reproducibility (Intraclass Correlation) were evaluated., Results: The S-4DSP was fully completed by 108 participants (mean age 34±10.75, 26% women), achieving 100% acceptability. No floor effect was detected. The statistical analysis yielded a global Cronbach's alpha for the questionnaire of 0.65, and domain-specific alphas of 0.88, 0.72, 0.27, and 0.68 for the first, second, third, and fourth domains, respectively. The Intraclass Correlation test reached a maximum of 0.94 and a minimum of 0.48 for the first and fifth questions, respectively., Conclusions: The S-4DSP is a reliable and useful tool for evaluating Spanish-speaking athletes after ACL reconstruction., (Copyright © 2024 SECOT. Purpose: To perform a cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Brazilian-Portuguese versions of the Brace Questionnaire in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis., Methods: A forward-backward translation process was employed to produce a Brazilian Portuguese version of the Brace Questionnaire, followed by comprehensive cross-cultural adaptation stages. The measurements of internal consistency and test-retest reliability were assessed by Cronbach's a and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), respectively. The Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to analyze the concurrent validity by comparison with the Scoliosis Research Society-22r questionnaire., Results: A total of 84 scoliosis patients (age 13.4 ± 2.0 years, thoracic Cobb angle 33.3° ± 13.8°, and lumbar Cobb angle 29.8° ± 14.3°) were included. The Brace Questionnaire showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach α = 0.93) and moderate reliability (ICC = 0.86). The correlations between the Brace Questionnaire and Scoliosis Research Society-22 were r = 0.66; p = 0.011. In addition, it was found that the Brazilian version of the Brace Questionnaire does not have ceiling and floor effects., Conclusions: The Brazilian-Portuguese adaptation of the brace questionnaire shows excellent reliability and can be a valid tool for psychometric assessment in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis., (© 2024. Purpose: The Injustice Experience Questionnaire (IEQ) gauges the extent to which individuals with chronic pain perceive feelings of injustice concerning their pain. The study's objective was to assess the feasibility, absolute and relative reliability, as well as the convergent and construct validity of the Greek version of the IEQ., Methods: A cross-cultural adaptation of the IEQ in Greek was carried out according to the published guidelines. Ninety patients with chronic pain and 44 healthy participants completed the IEQ-GR, the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). A subset of 36 volunteers completed the IEQ-GR twice over 1 week., Results: The ICC was calculated at 0.98 for IEQ-total and 0.83-0.96 for all items. The Cronbach's a was estimated at 0.98 for IEQ-total and 0.91-0.98 for all items. The SEM ranged from 0.20 to 1.63 and the SDC was 0.36-2.62 for all items. Positive and significant correlations between IEQ-GR and PCS ( r  = 0.59, p  < 0.01), HADS ( r  = 0.58, p  < 0.01), HADS depression ( r  = 0.50, p  < 0.01), and HADS anxiety ( r  = 0.55, p  < 0.01), were found. There was a statistically significant difference in IEQ between the patient and control groups., Conclusions: The IEQ-GR demonstrated excellent reliability, internal consistency, convergent and discriminant validity in a Greek population.

Background: Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are tools of increasing interest in the sports population. The purpose of this study was to perform the cross-cultural adaptation and reliability analysis of the 4 Domain Sports Patient-Reported Outcome Measure (4DSP) into Spanish., Methods: A six-stage cross-cultural adaptation protocol was executed to obtain the Spanish version of the 4DSP (S-4DSP). Subsequently, the questionnaire was administered to a population of 108 postoperative athletes with ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injuries. The questionnaire was administered again after 30 days. Acceptability, floor and ceiling effects, internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha), and reproducibility (Intraclass Correlation) were evaluated., Results: The S-4DSP was fully completed by 108 participants (mean age 34±10.75, 26% women), achieving 100% acceptability. No floor effect was detected. The statistical analysis yielded a global Cronbach's alpha for the questionnaire of 0.65, and domain-specific alphas of 0.88, 0.72, 0.27, and 0.68 for the first, second, third, and fourth domains, respectively. The Intraclass Correlation test reached a maximum of 0.94 and a minimum of 0.48 for the first and fifth questions, respectively., Conclusions: The S-4DSP is a reliable and useful tool for evaluating Spanish-speaking athletes after ACL reconstruction., (Copyright © 2024 SECOT. The objective of this study was to culturally adapt the Thriving of Older People Assessment Scale (TOPAS) instrument and evaluate its psychometric properties. The study was carried out in two phases: cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric validation and refinement through a cross-sectional study conducted between 2018 and 2020 with 314 participants. The refinement resulted in an abbreviated version of TOPAS, maintaining the original 5 factors with 16 items. Cronbach alpha was 0.91. Composite reliability (0.72-0.89) and average variance extracted (0.57-0.81), supporting discriminant validity. Maximum shared variance for the factors (0.22-0.50) and average shared variance (0.16-0.31), demonstrating discriminant validity. The abbreviated version of TOPAS showed evidence of being a valid and reliable instrument for measuring the adaptability of elderly residents in institutions. Objective: To make a cross-cultural adaptation of the National Early Warning Score 2 (NEWS 2) from English to Angolan Portuguese., Methods: A methodological research of cross-cultural adaptation was conducted, involving sequential stages of forward translation, translation synthesis, back-translation, and the application of the Delphi Panel methodology for analyzing semantic, idiomatic, experiential, and conceptual equivalence between the translated and the original versions. This process culminated in the development of a pre-final version, which subsequently underwent testing in a cohort of nurses ( n = 37). The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient was calculated to assess inter-rater reliability of ratings. Cronbach's alpha was used for evaluating the internal consistency and reliability within the items of the NEWS 2 score., Results: The cross-cultural adaptation process allowed us to prepare the final version of this tool. The data collected during the testing phase facilitated the examination of inter-rater reliability of ratings and the internal consistency and reliability within the items of the NEWS2 score. Objective: The study's objective was to culturally adapt and digitise the Evaluation of Daily Activity Questionnaire (EDAQ), originally designed for rheumatoid arthritis and various other musculoskeletal conditions, creating a version for stroke survivors (EDAQ-SS). This adaptation also aimed to develop a comprehensive electronic Patient Reported Outcome Measure (ePROM) intended to refine stroke survivors' self-assessment of their daily activity limitations., Materials and Methods: Cross-cultural adaptation of the EDAQ was completed by a review of expert panel, which included healthcare professionals to increase the clarity and relevancy of the items, followed by cognitive debriefing interviews with British stroke survivors to rate their understanding of the questionnaire items. After developing the paper version of the questionnaire, this was digitised (eEDAQ-SS) and disseminated online via the Stroke Survivors Hub (SSHUB). Content validity of the EDAQ-SS was evaluated using the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) Core Set for Stroke., Results: The expert panel meeting (n:11) and cognitive debriefing interviews with stroke survivors (n:10) resulted in an EDAQ-SS with 160 items across 15 domains, which was understandable and relevant to stroke survivors. The SSHUB was deemed to be a user-friendly platform, providing easy access to eEDAQ-SS and aid self-assessment of daily activities of stroke survivors. Mapping the EDAQ-SS items to the ICF Core Set for Stroke demonstrated good content validity with 44/55 matching categories., Conclusion: The EDAQ-SS offers a comprehensive measure for self-assessment, which may serve to guide stroke survivors' self-management by overcoming limitations of existing PROMs. Further psychometric testing of the EDAQ-SS and wider testing of the digital version is recommended. Introduction/objective: The STarT Back Screening Tool (SBST) stratifies low back pain (LBP) patients based on their risk of chronicity to guide treatment accordingly. The absence of its validated Nepali version limits stratified LBP care in Nepal. The study aimed to translate and cross-culturally adapt the SBST into Nepali and evaluate its measurement properties in adults with LBP., Methods: The measurement properties of the Nepali SBST were evaluated in 102 Nepali adults with non-specific LBP. We assessed content validity, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct and discriminant validity. Item redundancy was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha (α > 0.90), test-retest reliability using Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC 2,1 ) and Cohen's kappa using established cutoffs score for categorising patients into risk groups, construct validity using hypothesis testing (if a minimum of 75% of the hypotheses were supported), and discriminant validity using Area Under the Curve (AUC) with the reference scales administered at baseline., Results: Cronbach's alpha scores were 0.72 for the overall scale and 0.66 for the psychosocial subscale. Test-retest reliability values were good to excellent with ICC 2,1 of 0.94 (95% CI: 0.87-0.97) for the overall scale and 0.87 (95% CI: 0.73-0.94) for the psychosocial subscale and Kappa values of 0.68 (95% CI: 0.43-0.93) for the overall scale and 0.79 (95% CI: 0.52-1.00) for psychosocial subscale. Construct validity was confirmed as 100% of a priori hypotheses were met. Acceptable discriminative validity was observed with reference scales with AUCs (0.75-0.80)., Conclusions: Nepali SBST demonstrates the reliability and validity of screening for chronicity risk in Nepali adults with LBP. Objective: The aim of this study was to culturally adapt the Osteoarthritis Knowledge Scale (OAKS) into a simplified Chinese version and to evaluate its measurement properties among Chinese-speaking populations., Methods: The OAKS scale was translated and cross-culturally adapted following COSMIN guidelines. A total of 368 participants were recruited, including individuals with knee or hip osteoarthritis (OA), healthcare professionals, and individuals without OA. The study evaluated the scale's internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and factor structure using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA)., Results: The translated OAKS scale demonstrated acceptable levels of reliability across different groups. Cronbach's alpha for the KOAKS was 0.70 overall, with subgroup values ranging from 0.70 to 0.71. For the HOAKS, Cronbach's alpha was 0.77 overall, with subgroup values ranging from 0.63 to 0.72. Test-retest reliability showed high Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) values for both scales (KOAKS: ICC = 0.960; HOAKS: ICC = 0.982). EFA revealed that the overall OAKS explained a substantial portion of the variance (60.51%), with KOAKS accounting for 59.35% and HOAKS accounting for 54.68% of the variance., Conclusion: The simplified Chinese version of the OAKS is a reliable tool for assessing OA knowledge among Chinese-speaking patients, healthcare professionals, and the general public. We investigated the psychometric properties of a Turkish version of the Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM-T). Our participants were 367 children (212 children with disabilities and 155 children without disabilities; M age = 40.76 months, SD = 20.33; range 0-71 months) and their parents, who were selected by a convenience sampling method. We translated and cross-culturally adapted the original YC-PEM from English to Turkish (YC-PEM-T). We found the internal consistency and test-retest reliability of the YC-PEM-T to be good with a Croanbach's alpha ranging from .68 to .94, and intraclass correlation coefficients ranging from .69 to .89 after the YC-PEM-T was administered twice to 100 parents within a three week period. In a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) we compared YC-PEM-T scores between children with and without the presence of a disability and found significant differences ( p < .05). While we found significant differences between three different age groups, they did not follow consistently. To evaluate discriminant validity, we followed up these ANOVAs with post-hoc analyses when results were statistically significant. Regarding concurrent validity, there were strong to very strong relationships between scores on the participation part of the YC-PEM-T and both the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI; .701 < r < .854, p < .001), and the European Child Environment Questionnaire (ECEQ; - .632 < r < - .690, p < .001). We concluded that the YC-PEM-T is a valid, reliable, and culturally adapted tool for evaluating daily life participation and adaptation to environmental factors in young Turkish children. We can recommend the YC-PEM-T for use in clinical settings and for epidemiological research to assess young children's participation in activities in the home, preschool and community. Purpose: Occupational biomechanical factors are implicated in the aetiology and progression of low back pain (LBP). This study cross-culturally adapted and psychometrically investigated the Occupational Risk Factor Questionnaire (ORFQ) in a low literate Nigerian Igbo population with chronic LBP., Methods: Forward and back translation of the original ORFQ by clinical and non-clinical translators was followed by an expert committee review. The adapted ORFQ was pre-tested amongst rural Nigerian adults with chronic LBP using cognitive think-aloud interviewing. Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) and test-retest reliability (unweighted and linear weighted k statistic for item-by-item agreement, and intra-class correlation coefficient-ICC) were investigated amongst 50 rural and urban Nigerian dwellers with chronic LBP. Spearman's correlation and regression analyses were conducted with the Igbo-ORFQ, and measures of disability [World Health Organisation Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0), Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), Back performance scale (BPS)], pain intensity [Eleven-point box scale (BS-11)] and social support [Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS)], to test construct validity with 200 rural Nigerian dwellers with chronic LBP., Results: Cross-cultural adaptation highlighted difficulty conceptualising and concretising exposure to biomechanical risk factors. Item-by-item agreement, internal consistency (α = 0.84) and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC = 0.83) were good. Some unexpected direction of associations between the biomechanical components of the Igbo-ORFQ, and disability, pain intensity, and social support prohibits establishment of construct validity., Conclusion: Prospective studies comparing the Igbo-ORFQ to other measures of exposure to occupational biomechanical risk factors are required to establish the construct validity of the Igbo-ORFQ., (© 2024. Study Objectives: To translate, culturally adapt, and validate the Neurological Sleep Index - Multiple Sclerosis (NSI-MS) for use in Austrian German-speaking populations with multiple sclerosis (pwMS)., Methods: Following established guidelines, the NSI-MS diurnal sleepiness (DS), non-restorative nocturnal sleep (NRNS), and fragmented nocturnal sleep (FNS) scales underwent forward-backward translation, with content and face validity, and cultural adaptation to Austria established. Construct validity was evaluated using Rasch analysis. Known-groups validity was examined, and comparisons were made with scales measuring MS fatigue, daytime sleepiness, sleep quality, anxiety, and depression. Reliability was assessed through Cronbach's alpha, Person Separation Index, Lin's concordance correlation coefficient, measurement error, and floor and ceiling effects. Data were merged with a historic English dataset for comparison between English/German language versions., Results: The translation and cultural adaptation of the NSI-MS-G were successful. Pretesting involved 30 pwMS, while the validation included 400 pwMS with mild-to-severe disability. The DS, NRNS, and FNS scales exhibited good fit parameters, were unidimensional, and invariant. NSI-MS-G scales demonstrated excellent convergent and known-groups validity, internal consistency, person separation reliability, test-retest reliability, adequate measurement error, and low floor and ceiling effects. Objective: This study aimed to develop a culturally adapted Chinese version of the Value-based Stigma Inventory (VASI) and to evaluate its psychometric properties, including reliability and validity, among the general Chinese population., Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. Convenience sampling was used to recruit 708 general citizens from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. The VASI's internal consistency, split-half reliability, and test-retest reliability were tested to assess the translated scale's reliability. Several validity tests were performed, including expert consultation, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, United States) and AMOS 23.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, United States)., Results: The Chinese version of the VASI showed good reliability, with a Cronbach's α value of 0.808, and the dimensions ranged from 0.812 to 0.850. Test-retest reliability showed good temporal stability with a value of 0.855, and the split-half reliability value was 0.845, indicating a high degree of consistency. The scale also demonstrated good content validity with a content validity index of 0.952. After conducting exploratory factor analysis, a five-factor structure was identified, including factors of self-realization, personal enrichment, reputation, meritocratic values, and security. In the confirmatory factor analysis, all recommended fit indicators were found to be within the acceptable range, including χ 2 /DF = 1.338, GFI = 0.960, AGFI = 0.940, RMSEA = 0.031, TLI = 0.985, CFI = 0.989, IFI = 0.989, PGFI = 0.640, and PNFI = 0.729., Conclusion: The Chinese version of the VASI is valid and reliable among the Chinese general public. The five-factor structured scale effectively assessed public stigma against mental illness, including the value orientations associated with personal stigma. Given the harsh and widespread public stigma against mental illness, the findings from the questionnaire may inform the development of future public health education programs. Purpose: This study has two objectives: (1) to identify the indicators of the nursing outcome "Knowledge: Wound management (3209)" related to the evaluation of knowledge about the care of surgical wounds; (2) to translate and culturally adapt the nursing outcome "Knowledge: Wound management (3209)" into Brazilian Portuguese and Colombian Spanish., Methods: This is a methodological study with two steps. Initially, a scoping review was conducted based on the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Subsequently, the translation and cultural adaptation of the outcome were performed by adapting Beaton's recommendations, which included the label, definition, indicators, and measurement scale., Findings: The review identified 31 indicators to evaluate knowledge about surgical wound care. Of these, 16 are described in the original outcome, and 15 new indicators are proposed to be included in the classification. Following this, the label, definition, indicators, and outcome measurement scale were reviewed, translated, and adapted with appropriate terminology for the cultural contexts of Brazil and Colombia., Conclusion: The outcome "Knowledge: Wound management (3209)" for evaluating the knowledge of surgical wounds consists of 31 indicators, all supported by scientific literature. The translated and adapted versions into Brazilian Portuguese and Colombian Spanish were found to be equivalent to the original. It is inferred that the identified indicators and the translated versions of the outcome will provide nursing professionals with an accurate assessment of knowledge about surgical incision wound care in daily practice., Implications for Nursing Practice: This study reviews the scientific literature on the outcome "Knowledge: Wound management (3209)," facilitating the comprehensive measurement of specific knowledge about the care of surgical wounds in practice, education, or research. Introduction: patient education is the cornerstone of the clinical management of bronchial asthma. The patient asthma knowledge questionnaire is a valid and reliable tool to assess the disease specific knowledge in the patients with bronchial asthma. To the best of our knowledge and literature search, there is no tool available in Marathi language to assess the knowledge of bronchial asthma in patients., Methods: standard translation guidelines for cross-cultural adaptation were followed. Forward and backward translations were performed by the eligible translators (T1 and T2) as per the guidelines. Synthesis of the translated versions was performed by translators and recording observer (T12). Recommendations by the expert committee were done to develop a pre-final version. The pre-final version was then tested on 30 individuals with bronchial asthma. The reliability of the translated version was assessed by the internal consistency and intra-class correlation coefficient., Results: thirty (30) bronchial asthma patients were recruited (with a mean age of 63SD±14.36, 16 males and 14 females) to test the pre-final version, and probing of each item was done to test the equivalence. It showed that the patient comprehended the intent behind each inquiry, and that was gauged on the Likert scale. A total of 102 adults (60.8% female and 39.2% male) with a mean age of 41±11 years were included in the study to examine test-retest reliability. Between the total scores obtained from the first and second applications of the questionnaire within a two-week period, there was no discernible variation. The Fear-Avoidance Components Scale (FACS) and the Fear of Daily Activities Questionnaire (FDAQ) assess fear-avoidance model components. However, the questionnaires are not available in Brazilian Portuguese. This study aimed to translate the original English FACS and FDAQ into Brazilian (Br) Portuguese and assess their measurement properties in patients with Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP). One hundred thirty volunteers with CLBP participated in this study. Structural validity, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and hypothesis testing for construct validity were analyzed. Results indicated a 2-factor solution for the FACS-Br, while the FDAQ-Br had a one-factor solution. Internal consistency showed acceptable Cronbach's alpha (alpha >.8). Suitable reliability was found for the FDAQ-Br (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient [ICC] = .98). For both FACS-Br factors, suitable reliability was found as well (ICC = .95 and .94). Hypothesis testing for construct validity confirmed more than 75% of the hypotheses proposed a priori for the FACS maladaptive pain/movement-related beliefs domain and the FDAQ-Br. Background: Perceived occupational value is closely linked with well-being and there is need worldwide for assessment tools that target this phenomenon. The Occupational Value with pre-defined items (OVal-pd), measuring three dimensions of occupational value; concrete, socio-symbolic and self-rewarding, was designed for that purpose., Aim: To pilot an Arabic version of OVal-pd and evaluate its psychometric properties in terms of content validity, factor structure, homogeneity, construct validity, test-retest stability, floor and ceiling effects, and measurement error., Methods: Snowball sampling was used to recruit Arabic-speaking persons living in Sweden ( n  = 55). They completed the OVal-pd and questionnaires addressing background factors, content validity and feasibility. Confirmatory factor analysis, Spearman's rank correlation, Cronbach's α, intraclass correlation coefficients, and minimum detectable change were calculated., Results: A 22-item version of the Arabic OVal-pd was found to have acceptable content validity and feasibility and the proposed three occupational value dimensions were confirmed. Good properties in terms of construct validity, internal consistency and test-retest stability were also established. No floor or ceiling effects were observed., Conclusion: The Arabic OVal-pd showed good validity and reliability on various psychometric aspects., Significance: In today's multicultural societies, the Arabic OVal-pd can be an important tool for occupational therapists working with Arabic-speaking clients.

Objectives: Planning for the child and adolescent to have a safe handling in the epilepsy transition process is essential. In this work, the authors translated the "Readiness Checklists" and applied them to a group of patients and their respective caregivers in the transition process to assess the possibility of using them as a monitoring and instructional instrument., Methods: The "Readiness Checklists" were applied to thirty adolescents with epilepsy and their caregivers. The original English version of this instrument underwent a process of translation and cultural adaptation by a translator with knowledge of English and epilepsy. Subsequently, it was carried out the back-translation and the Portuguese version was compared to the original, analyzing discrepancies, thus obtaining the final version for the Brazilian population., Results: Participants were able to answer the questions. In four questions there was an association between the teenagers' educational level and the response pattern to the questionnaires. The authors found a strong positive correlation between the responses of adolescents and caregivers (Rho Spearman = 0.837; p < 0.001). The application of the questionnaire by the health team was feasible for all interviewed patients and their respective caregivers., Conclusion: The translation and application of the "Readiness Checklists" is feasible in Portuguese. Patients with lower educational levels felt less prepared for the transition than patients with higher educational levels, independently of age. Adolescents and caregivers showed similar perceptions regarding patients' abilities. Background: The high incidence of potentially traumatic events (PTEs) in Indonesia warrants early identification of those with probable trauma-related disorders in order to tailor prevention and intervention for trauma-related symptoms., Objectives: This study aims to adapt and validate a novel brief transdiagnostic screener, the Global Psychotrauma Screen (GPS), in Indonesian undergraduate students., Methods: An online survey was administered among Indonesian undergraduate students (N = 322). Exploratory factor analysis, reliability analyses, clinical validity analyses, and correlational analyses were performed to evaluate the construct validity, reliability, clinical validity, and convergent-divergent validity of the Indonesian GPS. Hierarchical multiple regression was conducted to assess the relationship between risk factors and trauma-related symptoms. The relationship between four categories of trauma-related symptom severity and social/work functioning was measured using Analysis of Covariance., Results: Exploratory factor analysis yielded a single-factor solution. The Indonesian GPS demonstrated good internal consistency, test-retest correlation, and absolute agreement, indicating good reliability. The Indonesian GPS also had an acceptable area under the curve, sensitivity, and specificity for a probable diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex-PTSD (CPTSD), depression, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). We also established evidence for the convergent and divergent validity of GPS. The GPS risk factors (low psychological resilience, other stressful events, history of mental illness, and low social support) contributed to predicting trauma-related symptoms after controlling for gender, age, employment status, and faculty background. Additionally, in comparison to participants from the mild and low categories of GPS symptoms scores, participants from the severe and moderate category reported impaired lowered social/work functioning., Conclusion: The current findings indicate that the Indonesian GPS is a valid and reliable transdiagnostic trauma screener for Indonesian undergraduate students. Objectives: The Gothenburg Trismus Questionnaire (GTQ) is a comprehensive scale for screening and assessing trismus in head and neck (H&N) cancer and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) patients. This study aimed to translate and cross-culturally adapt the GTQ in China, and to test its measurement invariance., Methods: This study comprised 278 H&N cancer, 245 TMD, and 507 control patients. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were tested to assess the GTQ's reliability. The validity was evaluated through composite reliability (CR), average variance extracted (AVE), and correlation tests. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to investigate the GTQ's measurement invariance across clinical status and gender. T tests were employed to compare score differences across clinical status and gender., Results: The Chinese version of GTQ scale shows excellent internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The CR, AVE, and correlation values demonstrate the good validity of GTQ. The multi-group CFA supported configural invariance across clinical status but not metric invariance, while it supported strict invariance across gender. Additionally, t tests revealed that patients with H&N cancer and TMD scored higher than the control group, while males scored higher than females., Conclusions: The Chinese version of GTQ serves as an effective tool for screening and assessing trismus., (© 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

The purpose of this protocol was to adapt and validate the English version of the Short Musculoskeletal Function Assessment (SMFA) into Chilean Spanish according to the World Health Organisation guidelines. This is a cross-sectional study of 897 surveys of patients with non-traumatic surgical orthopaedic pathologies. We analysed internal consistency, validity, and acceptability, including correlation with the short form 36 (SF-36) medical score. The validation included 900 participants with a response rate of 99,66%, with excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.962). The Dysfunction and Bother Index items showed a value of 0.952 and 0.884 respectively, eliminating one item in the Dysfunction sub-scale. The principal component analysis was forced to four factors explaining 55.5% of the variance. SMFA-CL sub-scales are significantly correlated with SF-36 components and subcomponents. The first version of the SMFA-CL version (Spanish-Chilean) scale is reported. This culturally adapted score demonstrated a high rate of reliability, validity, and ability to objectively evaluate foot and ankle pathologies.
