This paper proposes a dynamic modelling of two-lane pavement photovoltaic (PV) arrays based on cellular automata theory, and the influence of random vehicle shadows on the output characteristics is explored and analysed. In the proposed model, a mathematical model of two-lane pavement PV array is established with considering the influence of bypass diodes and blocking diodes. In order to characterize the change of irradiation intensity caused by vehicle shadow, an asymmetric two-lane Nagel-Scheckenberg (ATNS) model is introduced in the driving process of vehicles. Moreover, the vehicle position at each time is obtained to further establish the randomly changing vehicle shadow matrix. The actual irradiance matrix can be obtained by combining vehicle shadow matrix with the irradiance matrix related to the external environment, and then a dynamic model of two-lane pavement PV arrays is established. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed model, the influence of the slowing probability and shading degree on the proposed model is analysed, where three representative scenarios are set to study the randomness of vehicle shading and its effects. Finally, simulations and experiments are conducted and the results show that the slowing probability and shading degree are the key two factors on the output characteristics of two-lane pavement PV arrays, and the dynamic random vehicle shadows significantly affect the output characteristics, resulting in a changing multi-peak state of the power-voltage curve and the global maximum power point being in a floating fast-changing state. © 2022

Background and objective: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is an aggressive fibrotic pulmonary disease with spatially and temporally heterogeneous alveolar lesions. There are no early diagnostic biomarkers, limiting our understanding of IPF pathogenesis. Methods: Lung tissue from surgical lung biopsy of patients with early-stage IPF (n = 7), transplant-stage IPF (n = 2), and healthy controls (n = 6) were subjected to mRNA sequencing and verified by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), immunohistochemistry, Western blot, and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq). Results: Three hundred eighty differentially expressed transcripts (DETs) were identified in IPF that were principally involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, lipid metabolism, and immune effect. Of these DETs, 21 (DMD, MMP7, POSTN, ECM2, MMP13, FASN, FADS1, SDR16C5, ACAT2, ACSL1, CYP1A1, UGT1A6, CXCL13, CXCL5, CXCL14, IL5RA, TNFRSF19, CSF3R, S100A9, S100A8, and S100A12) were selected and verified by RT-qPCR. Differences in DMD, FASN, and MMP7 were also confirmed at a protein level. Analysis of scRNA-Seq was used to trace their cellular origin to determine which lung cells regulated them. The principal cell sources of DMD were ciliated cells, alveolar type I/II epithelial cells (AT cells), club cells, and alveolar macrophages (AMs); MMP7 derives from AT cells, club cells, and AMs, while FASN originates from AT cells, ciliated cells, and AMs. Conclusion: Our data revealed a comprehensive transcriptional mRNA profile of IPF and demonstrated that ECM remodeling, lipid metabolism, and immune effect were collaboratively involved in the early development of IPF.

BACKGROUND: De novo missense variants in KCNQ5, encoding the voltage-gated K+ channel KV7.5, have been described to cause developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) or intellectual disability (ID). We set out to identify disease-related KCNQ5 variants in genetic generalized epilepsy (GGE) and their underlying mechanisms. METHODS: 1292 families with GGE were studied by next-generation sequencing. Whole-cell patch-clamp recordings, biotinylation and phospholipid overlay assays were performed in mammalian cells combined with homology modelling. FINDINGS: We identified three deleterious heterozygous missense variants, one truncation and one splice site alteration in five independent families with GGE with predominant absence seizures; two variants were also associated with mild to moderate ID. All missense variants displayed a strongly decreased current density indicating a loss-of-function (LOF). When mutant channels were co-expressed with wild-type (WT) KV7.5 or KV7.5 and KV7.3 channels, three variants also revealed a significant dominant-negative effect on WT channels. Other gating parameters were unchanged. Biotinylation assays indicated a normal surface expression of the variants. The R359C variant altered PI(4,5)P2-interaction. INTERPRETATION: Our study identified deleterious KCNQ5 variants in GGE, partially combined with mild to moderate ID. The disease mechanism is a LOF partially with dominant-negative effects through functional deficits. LOF of KV7.5 channels will reduce the M-current, likely resulting in increased excitability of KV7.5-expressing neurons. Further studies on network level are necessary to understand which circuits are affected and how this induces generalized seizures. As a representative densely urbanized and industrialized city of China, Ningbo has experienced extremely rapid development, with a wide variety of chemical, electronic, pharmaceutical, and paper manufacturing industries. However, limited data and researches are available regarding the levels and profiles of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in surface soils of Ningbo. The present study was launched to address the knowledge gap through analyzing 27 sites in five functional regions for 9 PFASs types. Results showed that concentrations of the total PFASs (∑PFASs) ranged from 0.63 to 25.6 ng·g−1, with an average of 10.1 ng·g−1. The concentrations of ∑PFASs in different functional regions were in the order of landfill sites > industrial areas > farmlands > residential communities > animal farms. Correlation analyses between soil physicochemical properties and PFASs content revealed that concentrations of ∑PFASs were negatively correlated with soil pH but positively correlated with soil organic matter. Principal component analysis indicated that fluorochemical industrial discharge, daily life discharge, atmospheric precipitation, and electrochemical fluorination process dominated factor loadings. In addition, the ecological risk assessment based on the risk quotient demonstrated that although the risk of PFOA contamination in landfill sites was highest, there are no risk of PFOA and PFOS contamination in the surface soil environment, but needs more supervision for the neighborhood of landfill sites to avoid additional risk. This work provides new data on the different PFAS profiles in soils impacted by different contamination sources within a densely urbanized and industrialized area, and the results obtained should be useful for delineating priority sites for remediation and restauration of polluted soils.

Currently, most of these are single-objective and search for items that fit the overall preference of a particular user. In real applications, such as restaurant recommendations, however, users often have multiple objectives such as group preferences and restaurant ambiance. This paper highlights the need for multi-objective recommendations and provides a solution using hypergraph ranking. A general User–Item–Attribute–Context data model is proposed to summarize different information resources and high-order relationships for the construction of a multipartite hypergraph. This study develops an improved balanced hypergraph ranking method to rank different types of objects in hypergraph data. An overall framework is then proposed as a guideline for the implementation of multi-objective recommender systems. Empirical experiments are conducted with the dataset from a review site Yelp.com, and the outcomes demonstrate that the proposed model performs very well for multi-objective recommendations. The experiments also demonstrate that this framework is still compatible for traditional single-objective recommendations and can improve accuracy significantly. In conclusion, the proposed multi-objective recommendation framework is able to handle complex and changing demands for e-commerce customers.

Gamma-ray binaries are systems composed of a massive star and a compact object that exhibit emission from radio to very high energy gamma rays. They are ideal laboratories to study particle acceleration and a variety of physical processes that vary as a function of the orbital phase. We aim to study the radio emission of the gamma-ray binary 1FGL J1018.6-5856 to constrain the emitting region and determine the peculiar motion of the system within the Galaxy to clarify its origin by analyzing an observation with the Australian Long Baseline Array at 8.4~GHz. We combined these data with the optical Gaia DR2 and UCAC4 catalogs to consolidate the astrometry information therein. 1FGL J1018.6-5856 shows compact radio emission ($< 3$ mas or $\lesssim 20$ au at $\sim 6.4$ kpc distance), implying a brightness temperature of $\gtrsim 5.6 \times 10^6$ K, and confirming its nonthermal origin. We report consistent results between the proper motion reported by Gaia DR2 and the positions obtained from the Gaia, UCAC4, and LBA data. We also determined the distance to 1FGL J1018.6-5856 to be $6.4_{-0.7}^{+ 1.7}$ kpc. Together with the radial velocity of the source we computed its three-dimensional proper and peculiar motion within the Galaxy. We obtained a peculiar motion on its regional standard of rest (RSR) frame of $|u| = 45_{-9}^{+30}$ km s$^{-1}$, with the system moving away from the Galactic plane. In the simplest scenario of a symmetric stellar core collapse we estimate a mass loss of $ 4 \lesssim \Delta M \lesssim 9$ M$_{\odot}$ during the creation of the compact object. 1FGL J1018.6-5856 exhibits compact radio emission similar to that detected in other gamma-ray binaries. We provide the first accurate peculiar motion estimations of the system and place it within the Galaxy. We present images taken using the Gemini South Adaptive Optics Imager (GSAOI) with the Gemini Multiconjugate Adaptive Optics System (GeMS) in three 2 arcmin$^2$ fields in the Spitzer Extragalactic Representative Volume Survey. These GeMS/GSAOI observations are among the first $\approx 0.1^{''}$ resolution data in the near-infrared spanning extragalactic fields exceeding $1.5^{\prime}$ in size. We use these data to estimate galaxy sizes, obtaining results similar to those from studies with the Hubble Space Telescope, though we find a higher fraction of compact star forming galaxies at $z>2$. To disentangle the star-forming galaxies from active galactic nuclei (AGN), we use multiwavelength data from surveys in the optical and infrared, including far-infrared data from Herschel, as well as new radio continuum data from the Australia Telescope Compact Array and Very Large Array. We identify ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) at $z \sim 1-3$, which consist of a combination of pure starburst galaxies and Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN)/starburst composites. The ULIRGs show signs of recent merger activity, such as highly disturbed morphologies and include a rare candidate triple AGN. We find that AGN tend to reside in hosts with smaller scale sizes than purely star-forming galaxies of similar infrared luminosity. Our observations demonstrate the potential for MCAO to complement the deeper galaxy surveys to be made with the James Webb Space Telescope., Comment: 20 pages, AJ, in press

The circumgalactic medium (CGM) of the massive Spiderweb Galaxy, a conglomerate of merging proto-cluster galaxies at z=2.2, forms an enriched interface where feedback and recycling act on accreted gas. This is shown by observations of [CI], CO(1-0) and CO(4-3) performed with the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) and Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). [CI] and CO(4-3) are detected across ~50 kpc, following the distribution of previously detected low-surface-brightness CO(1-0) across the CGM. This confirms our previous results on the presence of a cold molecular halo. The central radio galaxy MRC1138-262 shows a very high global $L'_{\rm CO(4-3)}$/$L'_{\rm CO(1-0)}$ ~ 1, suggesting that mechanisms other than FUV-heating by star formation prevail at the heart of the Spiderweb Galaxy. Contrary, the CGM has $L'_{\rm CO(4-3)}$/$L'_{\rm CO(1-0)}$ and $L'_{\rm [CI]}$/$L'_{\rm CO(1-0)}$ similar to the ISM of five galaxies in the wider proto-cluster, and its carbon abundance, $X_{\rm [CI]}$/$X_{\rm H2}$, resembles that of the Milky Way and starforming galaxies. The molecular CGM is thus metal-rich and not diffuse, confirming a link between the cold gas and in-situ star formation. This study reveals the evolution of functional groups during slow pyrolysis of crystalline and amorphous cellulose at low temperatures, using in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy combined with two-dimensional perturbation correlation infrared spectroscopy (2D-PCIS). During cellulose pyrolysis, although the inter-molecular hydrogen bonds are slightly stronger, both intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds can break at low temperatures (i.e., > 120 °C), leading to the formation of free hydroxyl. Due to the weakened hydrogen bonds in cellulose, dehydration reactions firstly take place to produce saturated carbonyls, at a lower temperature (i.e., 240 °C) for amorphous cellulose. At increased temperatures (i.e., > 270 °C), the hydrogen bonds in cellulose reduce more significantly, promoting the decomposition of glucopyranose rings to form double bonds (i.e., carbonyls, carboxyls and conjugated alkenes). Compared to those for amorphous cellulose, the hydrogen bonds in crystalline cellulose are more stable, thus protecting the functional groups (i.e., –CH groups, glycosidic bonds and glucopyranose rings) from rapid disruption.

The historical rating data of users is a valuable input resource for many recommendation models such as collaborative filtering (CF), but these models are known to suffer from the rating sparsity problem when the users or items under consideration have insufficient rating records. With the continued growth of online social networks, the increased user-to-user relationships are reported to be helpful and can alleviate the CF rating sparsity problem. Although researchers have developed a range of social network-based recommender systems, there is no unified model to handle multirelational social networks. To address this challenge, this paper represents different user relationships in a multigraph and develops a multigraph ranking model to identify and recommend the nearest neighbors of particular users in high-order environments. We conduct empirical experiments on two real-world datasets: 1) Epinions and 2) Last.fm, and the comprehensive comparison with other approaches demonstrates that our model improves recommendation performance in terms of both recommendation coverage and accuracy, especially when the rating data are sparse.

Standard galaxy formation models predict that large-scale double-lobed radio sources, known as DRAGNs, will always be hosted by elliptical galaxies. In spite of this, in recent years a small number of spiral galaxies have also been found to host such sources. These so-called spiral DRAGNs are still extremely rare, with only $\sim 5$ cases being widely accepted. Here we report on the serendipitous discovery of a new spiral DRAGN in data from the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) at 322 MHz. The host galaxy, MCG+07-47-10, is a face-on late-type Sbc galaxy with distinctive spiral arms and prominent bulge suggesting a high black hole mass. Using WISE infra-red and GALEX UV data we show that this galaxy has a star formation rate of 0.16-0.75 M$_{\odot}$yr$^{-1}$, and that the radio luminosity is dominated by star-formation. We demonstrate that this spiral DRAGN has similar environmental properties to others of this class, but has a comparatively low radio luminosity of $L_{\rm 1.4GHz}$ = 1.12$\times$10$^{22}$ W Hz$^{-1}$, two orders of magnitude smaller than other known spiral DRAGNs. The host galaxy, MCG+07-47-10, is a face-on late-type Sbc galaxy with distinctive spiral arms and prominent bulge suggesting a high black hole mass. Using WISE infra-red and GALEX UV data we show that this galaxy has a star formation rate of 0.16-0.75 M$_{\odot}$yr$^{-1}$, and that the radio luminosity is dominated by star-formation. We demonstrate that this spiral DRAGN has similar environmental properties to others of this class, but has a comparatively low radio luminosity of $L_{\rm 1.4GHz}$ = 1.12$\times$10$^{22}$ W Hz$^{-1}$, two orders of magnitude smaller than other known spiral DRAGNs. The largest galaxies in the universe reside in galaxy clusters. Using sensitive observations of carbon monoxide, we show that the Spiderweb galaxy - a massive galaxy in a distant protocluster - is forming from a large reservoir of molecular gas. Most of this molecular gas lies between the protocluster galaxies and has low velocity dispersion, indicating that it is part of an enriched intergalactic medium. This may constitute the reservoir of gas that fuels the widespread star formation seen in earlier ultraviolet observations of the Spiderweb galaxy. Our results support the notion that giant galaxies in clusters formed from extended regions of recycled gas at high redshift.

We present the third data release from the Australia Telescope Large Area Survey (ATLAS). These data combine the observations at 1.4 GHz before and after upgrades to the Australia Telescope Compact Array reaching a sensitivity of 14 microJy/beam in 3.6 deg^2 over the Chandra Deep Field South (CDFS) and of 17 microJy/beam in 2.7 deg^2 over the European Large Area ISO Survey South 1 (ELAIS-S1). We used a variety of array configurations to maximise the uv coverage resulting in a resolution of 16 by 7 arcsec in CDFS and of 12 by 8 arcsec in ELAIS-S1. After correcting for peak bias and bandwidth smearing, we find a total of 3034 radio source components above 5 sigma in CDFS, of which 514 (17 per cent) are considered to be extended. The number of components detected above 5 sigma in ELAIS-S1 is 2084, of which 392 (19 per cent) are classified as extended. Lyman alpha blobs (LABs) are spatially extended lyman alpha nebulae seen at high redshift. The origin of Lyman alpha emission in the LABs is still unclear and under debate. To study their heating mechanism(s), we present Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) observations of the 20 cm radio emission and Herschel PACS and SPIRE measurements of the far-infrared (FIR) emission towards the four LABs in the protocluster J2143-4423 at z=2.38. Among the four LABs, B6 and B7 are detected in the radio with fluxes of 67+/-17 microJy and 77+/-16 microJy, respectively, and B5 is marginally detected at 3 sigma (51+/-16 microJy). For all detected sources, their radio positions are consistent with the central positions of the LABs. B6 and B7 are obviously also detected in the FIR. By fitting the data with different templates, we obtained redshifts of 2.20$^{+0.30}_{-0.35}$ for B6 and 2.20$^{+0.45}_{-0.30}$ for B7 which are consistent with the redshift of the lyman alpha emission within uncertainties, indicating that both FIR sources are likely associated with the LABs. The associated FIR emission in B6 and B7 and high star formation rates strongly favor star formation in galaxies as an important powering source for the lyman alpha emission in both LABs. We present results from the first twelve months of operation of Radio Galaxy Zoo, which upon completion will enable visual inspection of over 170,000 radio sources to determine the host galaxy of the radio emission and the radio morphology. Radio Galaxy Zoo uses $1.4\,$GHz radio images from both the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty Centimeters (FIRST) and the Australia Telescope Large Area Survey (ATLAS) in combination with mid-infrared images at $3.4\,\mu$m from the {\it Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer} (WISE) and at $3.6\,\mu$m from the {\it Spitzer Space Telescope}. We present the early analysis of the WISE mid-infrared colours of the host galaxies. For images in which there is $>\,75\%$ consensus among the Radio Galaxy Zoo cross-identifications, the project participants are as effective as the science experts at identifying the host galaxies. The majority of the identified host galaxies reside in the mid-infrared colour space dominated by elliptical galaxies, quasi-stellar objects (QSOs), and luminous infrared radio galaxies (LIRGs). We also find a distinct population of Radio Galaxy Zoo host galaxies residing in a redder mid-infrared colour space consisting of star-forming galaxies and/or dust-enhanced non star-forming galaxies consistent with a scenario of merger-driven active galactic nuclei (AGN) formation. The completion of the full Radio Galaxy Zoo project will measure the relative populations of these hosts as a function of radio morphology and power while providing an avenue for the identification of rare and extreme radio structures. In the low-redshift Universe, the most powerful radio sources are often associated with gas-rich galaxy mergers or interactions. We here present evidence for an advanced, gas-rich (`wet') merger associated with a powerful radio galaxy at a redshift of z~2. This radio galaxy, MRC 0152-209, is the most infrared-luminous high-redshift radio galaxy known in the southern hemisphere. Using the Australia Telescope Compact Array, we obtained high-resolution CO(1-0) data of cold molecular gas, which we complement with HST/WFPC2 imaging and WHT long-slit spectroscopy. We find that, while roughly M(H2) ~ 2 x 10$^{10}$ M$_{\odot}$ of molecular gas coincides with the central host galaxy, another M(H2) ~ 3 x 10$^{10}$ M$_{\odot}$ is spread across a total extent of ~60 kpc. Most of this widespread CO(1-0) appears to follow prominent tidal features visible in the rest-frame near-UV HST/WFPC2 imaging. Ly$\alpha$ emission shows an excess over HeII, but a deficiency over L(IR), which is likely the result of photo-ionisation by enhanced but very obscured star formation that was triggered by the merger. In terms of feedback, the radio source is aligned with widespread CO(1-0) emission, which suggests that there is a physical link between the propagating radio jets and the presence of cold molecular gas on scales of the galaxy's halo. Its optical appearance, combined with the transformational stage at which we witness the evolution of MRC 0152-209, leads us to adopt the name `Dragonfly Galaxy'., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS (12 pages, 5 figures)

To well utilize the content information, this study proposed a fuzzy content matching-based recommendation approach to assist e-Commerce customers to choose their truly interested items. In this paper, users' ratings and preferences are represented using fuzzy numbers to remain uncertainties. Tree-structured content information is transformed to a set of descriptors, and users' preferences on these descriptors are derived from fuzzy ratings by using fuzzy number operations. A kind of preference dependence relations is established between descriptors to explore the relations of different content features, and as a base to sketch the complete profile of users. While the extended preference profile of a user is established, given a new item, the fuzzy match degree of the user preference and the item content information is carried out, and then a fuzzy Topsis ranking method is proposed to able to rank all candidate items according to the fuzzy match degrees, and the highest ranked items are recommended to the target user. We conduct empirical experiments on Yelp and MovieLens datasets. The results indicate that the proposed approach improve recommendation performance in terms of both coverage and accuracy.

A recommender system aims to provide users with personalized online product or service recommendations to handle the increasing online information overload problem and improve customer relationship management. Various recommender system techniques have been proposed since the mid-1990s, and many sorts of recommender system software have been developed recently for a variety of applications. Researchers and managers recognize that recommender systems offer great opportunities and challenges for business, government, education, and other domains, with more recent successful developments of recommender systems for real-world applications becoming apparent. It is thus vital that a high quality, instructive review of current trends should be conducted, not only of the theoretical research results but more importantly of the practical developments in recommender systems. This paper therefore reviews up-to-date application developments of recommender systems, clusters their applications into eight main categories: e-government, e-business, e-commerce/e-shopping, e-library, e-learning, e-tourism, e-resource services and e-group activities, and summarizes the related recommendation techniques used in each category. It systematically examines the reported recommender systems through four dimensions: recommendation methods (such as CF), recommender systems software (such as BizSeeker), real-world application domains (such as e-business) and application platforms (such as mobile-based platforms). Some significant new topics are identified and listed as new directions. By providing a state-of-the-art knowledge, this survey will directly support researchers and practical professionals in their understanding of developments in recommender system applications.

DR2 improves upon the first data release by maintaining consistent data reductions across the two regions, including polarization analysis, and including differential number counts in total intensity and linear polarization. Typical DR2 sensitivities across the mosaicked multi-pointing images are 30 uJy/beam at approximately 12"x6" resolution over a combined area of 6.4 square degrees. In this paper we present detailed descriptions of our data reduction and analysis procedures, including corrections for instrumental effects such as positional variations in image sensitivity, bandwidth smearing with a non-circular beam, and polarization leakage, and application of the BLOBCAT source extractor. We present the DR2 images and catalogues of components (discrete regions of radio emission) and sources (groups of physically associated radio components). MHTs (MHT-p, MHT-N) represented superior corrosion inhibition effect against chloride induced pitting corrosion in simulated concrete pore solution when compared with the pure inhibitors (pAB, NaNO2). Among them, MHT-p exhibited a better improvement of inhibition effect than MHT-N. This result is probably caused by the bigger ion exchange capacity between pAB ion and chloride ion in MHT-p. Recently recommender systems are introduced into the web-based government applications which expect to provide personalized Government-to-Business (G2B) e-Services. For more personalization, we illustrate a subjective signed trust relationship between users, and based on such trust we proposed a recommendation framework for G2B e-services. A case study is conducted as an example of implementing our approach in e-government applications. Empirical analysis is also conducted to compare our approach with other models, which shows that our approach is of the highest. In conclusion, the signed trust relationship can reflect the real preferences of users, and the proposed recommendation framework is believed to be reliable and applicable. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
