The Stacey-Davis formulation (Stacey and Davis, 2004) for determining the Gruneisen parameter γ and its volume derivatives for the Earth outer core has been improved by using the revised values of λ 0 and λ ∞ , the third order Gruneisen parameter at zero-pressure and infinite pressure, respectively. These values of λ 0 and λ ∞ are consistent with the Stacey reciprocal K-primed equation of state. The results for gamma and its volume derivatives obtained from the Stacey-Davis formulation are compared with those calculated from the Shanker reciprocal gamma equation (Shanker et al., 2017). The parameter λ ∞ used in the present study satisfies the thermodynamic constraint found by Stacey and Hodgkinson (2019) according to which λ ∞ must be less than K ∞ ′ .
