This study was designed to determine the relation of serum Gas6 levels to severity and prognosis after traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods: In this prospective cohort study of 114 controls and 114 patients with severe TBI, multivariate analysis was used to assess relationships between serum Gas6 levels, Glasgow coma scale (GCS) score, Rotterdam computed tomography (CT) score, postinjury 180-day mortality, overall survival and poor prognosis (Extended Glasgow outcome scale score 1– 4).Results: Significantly increased serum Gas6 levels of patients (median, 10.3 ng/mL versus 32.5 ng/mL; P < 0.001), as compared with controls, were independently correlated with Rotterdam CT score (t = 3.629, P < 0.001) and GCS score (t=− 3.393, P = 0.001), and independently predicted 180-day mortality (odds ratio, 1.078; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.007– 1.154), overall survival (hazard ratio, 1.074; 95% CI, 1.012– 1.139) and poor prognosis (odds ratio, 1.129; 95% CI, 1.059– 1.205). Areas under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUCs) of serum Gas6 levels for discriminating risks of 180-day mortality and poor prognosis were 0.785 (95% CI, 0.699– 0.857) and 0.793 (95% CI, 0.707– 0.863), respectively; and serum Gas6 levels above 30.9 ng/mL and 28.3 ng/mL predicted 180-day mortality and poor prognosis with maximum Youden indices of 0.451 and 0.468, respectively. The predictive ability of serum Gas6 levels for mortality was similar to those of GCS score (AUC, 0.833; 95% CI, 0.751– 0.896; P = 0.286) and Rotterdam CT score (AUC, 0.823; 95% CI, 0.740– 0.888; P = 0.432). The discriminatory capability of serum Gas6 levels for the risk of poor prognosis was in the range of GCS score (AUC, 0.846; 95% CI, 0.766– 0.906; P = 0.178) and Rotterdam CT score (AUC, 0.831; 95% CI, 0.750– 0.895; P = 0.368).Conclusion: Serum Gas6 may appear as a promising biochemical parameter for aiding in the assessment of trauma severity and prediction of prognosis among patients with severe TBI.Keywords: traumatic brain injury, biomarkers, growth arrest-specific protein 6, severity, prognosis

After a long period of geological tectonic action, the rock mass develops defects such as pores and fissures of different sizes and scales. The mechanical properties of the rock are largely affected by these discontinuous structures, and there will be obvious stress concentration at the edge of the hole inside the rock. Under the action of concentrated stress, cracks initiate, expand, and penetrate from the edge of the hole to form the final fracture surface and cause instability and failure of the rock mass. In practical engineering, due to the limitation of various factors, it is impossible to conduct uniaxial compressive strength test for each geotechnical engineering. Therefore, the rock in the weak part of the project can be selected as the test specimen before the indoor physical tests. In this paper, the static uniaxial compression test of specimens with circular holes with different diameters is carried out. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) monitoring system is used to observe the test process in real time; then, the data from uniaxial compression test and DIC monitoring test are obtained. At the same time, the macroscopic failure characteristics and crack propagation law of rock specimens are obtained, and the evolution law of strain field during the failure process of rock specimens is also obtained. Meanwhile, Realistic Failure Process Analysis (RFPA) is carried out to verify the accuracy of static uniaxial compression physical tests numerically. Physical tests show that the uniaxial compressive strength of marble specimens with circular holes and the dispersion of measured peak stress data decrease with the increase of hole diameter. The main failure type of marble specimens with circular holes is tension shear failure; the macroscopic failure zone of the sample, the strain field localization zone, and the maximum shear stress field of the numerical test are distributed in a semi-“X” shape with the hole as the center. The localization zone of the strain field on the specimen is usually the region of crack initiation, propagation, and penetration on the surface of the marble specimens. It also shows that specimen breaks in the radial direction along the y -axis of the circular hole, and cracks connecting both ends of the circular hole and the specimen are generated on the specimen. It is of great theoretical value and practical significance to the influence of the cavities in the rock specimens on the stress and strain characteristics and the initiation, propagation, and penetration modes.

The structure and function of gastrointestinal tract in premature infants are immature, improving the nutritional status of premature infants, which has positive significance to physical and intellectual development in preterm infants and reduce complications. Therefore, the study of nutritional support therapy for premature infants has gradually attracted the attention of clinical medical workers. Breast milk is the best food for premature infants, but mothers of premature infants have delayed lactation and the establishment of a breast milk bank in our country is still in its infancy. The lack of a sound management and supervision mechanism is far from meeting the needs of children. When breastfeeding is not possible, it is particularly important to choose suitable formula milk (standard preterm infant formula, hydrolyzed protein formula milk, etc.), and improve feeding tolerance. At present, there are some controversies about the application of hydrolyzed protein formula milk and standard preterm infant formula in nutritional support therapy of premature infants, this study conducts a meta-analysis on the published clinical randomized controlled trials of preventive hydrolyzed protein formula milk for newborns. To the newborns who cannot breastfeeding, it will adopt a scientific evaluation system to compare the effectiveness and safety of preventive use of hydrolyzed protein formula milk and standard preterm infant formula in the nutritional support therapy of premature infants, and the effectiveness and safety of preventive use of hydrolyzed protein formula milk in reducing gastrointestinal diseases and promoting physical development of premature infants.

Cerebrocardiac syndrome (CCS) is a common complication after severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI) and its occurrence obviously increases the risk of a poor outcome. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) acts as an inflammatory cytokine and its circulating concentration are related to acute heart and brain injury. The aim of this study was to examine the association of serum concentration of MIF with posttraumatic CCS.From January 2016 to February 2019, 116 sTBI patients and 116 healthy controls with similar age and gender percentage were recruited. Relationship between serum MIF concentration and CCS was assessed using multivariate analysis.Serum MIF concentration of patients were significantly higher than those among controls. Serum MIF concentration were intimately correlated with Glasgow coma scale scores (t = -5.553, P 0.001) and serum C-reactive protein concentration (t = 5.320, P 0.001) in a multivariate linear regression model. 61 patients (52.6%) displayed CCS. Under ROC curve analylsis, there was a strong discriminatory ability for CCS regarding serum MIF concentration (area under curve, 0.834; 95% confidence interval, 0.754-0.897). Serum MIF concentration were highly associated with CCS independent of other confounding factors (odds ratio, 5.608; 95% CI: 1.896-16.587).Increased MIF in serum may be a useful biomarker for early detection of CCS after head trauma.

Background Tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) might contribute to brain inflammation after acute brain injury. The current study was designed to investigate whether serum soluble TWEAK (sTWEAK) can serve as a potential biomarker for functional outcome after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Methods In this single-center prospective, observational study, admission serum sTWEAK concentrations were quantified among 112 aSAH patients. Impact of serum sTWEAK concentrations on a poor outcome (Glasgow outcome scale score 1–3) at 6 months after stroke onset was determined using multivariate analysis. Results Admission serum sTWEAK concentrations were intimately correlated with serum C-reactive protein concentrations, World Federation of Neurological Surgeons scores and modified Fisher scores. A total of 38 patients (33.9%) had a poor outcome at post-hemorrhagic 6 months. Admission serum sTWEAK concentrations were substantially higher in patients with a poor outcome than in the other remainders. Under receiver operating characteristic curve, serum sTWEAK concentrations significantly distinguished a poor outcome. Serum sTWEAK concentrations > 3.23 ng/ml discriminated the risk of a poor outcome with medium-high sensitivity and specificity and independently predicted a poor outcome. Conclusions Serum sTWEAK, in close correlation with inflammation and hemorrhagic severity, might represent a potential biomarker for predicting clinical outcome after aSAH.

Additional file 3. Comparison of the predictive ability of HbA1c, FBG and the FBG/HbA1c ratio with mortality.

Current state-of-the-art methods for solving discrete optimization problems are usually restricted to convex settings. In this paper, we propose a general approach based on cutting planes for solving nonlinear, possibly nonconvex, binary optimization problems. We provide a rigorous convergence analysis that quantifies the number of iterations required under different conditions. This is different to most other work in discrete optimization where only finite convergence is proved. Moreover, using tools from variational analysis, we provide necessary and sufficient dual optimality conditions.

Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) and its receptor, lectin-like ox-LDL receptor-1 (LOX-1) are involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Expression of LOX-1 was substantially raised in the basilar arterial wall of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) rabbits. We ascertained the relationship between serum soluble LOX-1 concentrations and functional outcome after human aneurysmal SAH.We enrolled 94 aneurysmal SAH patients and 94 healthy controls. Serum soluble TOX-1 concentrations were quantified using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. A poor outcome was defined as Glasgow outcome scale score of 1-3.Median values of serum soluble LOX-1 in stroke patients were significantly higher than those in controls (1.5 vs. 0.4 ng/ml, P 0.001). Thirty patients (31.9%) had a poor outcome at 6 months after stroke. Serum soluble LOX-1 was a strong predictor of poor outcome (OR 5.20, 95% CI 1.25-22.04). Serum soluble LOX-1 concentrations exhibited a significant discriminatory capability (area under curve 0.811, 95% confidence interval 0.717-0.884). The predictive powers of World Federation of Neurological Surgeons grade, Hunt-Hess grade, modified Fisher grade, and serum soluble LOX-1 concentrations were comparable (all P 0.05).Serum soluble LOX-1 appears to have the potential to become a promising prognostic predictor after human aneurysmal SAH.

Objective: To investigate the effect of metformin combined with insulin aspart on blood glucose levels and maternal and neonatal outcomes in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) accompanied by chronic hypertension (CH). Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 112 women with GDM and CH. The patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to a random number table method, with 56 patients in each group. The control group received injections of insulin aspart based on blood pressure control, and the observation group received injections of insulin aspart combined with oral metformin based on blood pressure control. Besides, blood glucose levels, maternal pregnancy outcomes and neonatal complications before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results: Before intervention, there was no significant difference in blood glucose and blood pressure levels between the two groups (P > 0.05). After intervention, the observation group showed significantly decreased fasting blood glucose, 2-h postprandial plasma glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels than the control group (P < 0.05); the blood pressure in the observation group was significantly lower as compared with that before intervention (P < 0.05). Additionally, the incidences of adverse pregnancy outcomes (e.g., premature rupture of membranes) and neonatal jaundice and macrosomia were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group after intervention (both P < 0.05). Conclusion: Metformin combined with insulin aspart for treating GDM and CH can effectively control blood glucose and blood pressure levels and reduce the risk of adverse perinatal and neonatal outcomes, which exerts positive effect in clinical treatment.

The marginal semi-enclosed Bohai Sea is an important ecosystem for many commercial as well as ecologically important species. At the same time, the Bohai Sea increasingly facing various anthropogenic disturbances which have been reported to affect the functioning of this ecosystem in many ways. Using Ecopath and Ecosim modeling suite (ver 6.5), this study examined the temporal changes in the ecological status of the Bohai Sea ecosystem. The present model comprises a total of 23 functional groups based on a year-round trawl survey conducted in 2016. The results of the present study showed that the mean trophic level of the commercial species as well as the overall fisheries species declined during the last few decades. The fundamental source of biomass flows within the Bohai Sea food web generated from the lower trophic levels. Primary producers (phytoplankton) and detritus contributed about 52.77% and 47.23%, respectively of the total energy flows originated from the base of the food web in 2016. Estimation of the ecological parameters during the decadal-scale suggests that the Bohai Sea ecosystem is at an immature stage. The niche overlap indices showed intermediate overlaps between prey species rather than predator species overlapping. The mixed trophic impacts indicated that the lower trophic levels had positive influences on most of the groups in the higher trophic levels, indicating the strong bottom-up ecosystem dynamics. Increased biomass of jellyfish and cephalopod had moderate adverse effects on other groups. This comparative analysis provides an important platform by increasing our understanding of the several food web properties that can be integrated within a future management plan of the Bohai Sea fisheries resources.

High on-treatment platelet reactivity (HTPR) after clopidogrel administration in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) has been associated with an increased risk of adverse events. Our previous studies reported that half-dose ticagrelor provides a similar inhibitory effect on adenosine diphosphate (ADP)–induced platelet aggregation as standard-dose ticagrelor, but half-dose of ticagrelor has not been studied in Chinese ACS patients with HTPR. This study aimed to compare the antiplatelet action of half-dose ticagrelor with high-dose clopidogrel in ACS patients with HTPR. In this single-center randomized controlled trial, 80 (of 418 screened, 19.13%) ACS patients with HTPR while on clopidogrel were randomized to either half-dose ticagrelor (90 mg LD, then 45 mg twice daily) or high-dose clopidogrel (150 mg once daily). Platelet function was assessed by thromboelastography (TEG) and light transmission aggregometry (LTA), and adverse events were monitored throughout the study for 30 days. The ADP-induced platelet inhibition rate (IR) as measured by TEG was significantly higher for half-dose ticagrelor compared with high-dose clopidogrel (70.40% [61.10%–91.70%] vs. 44.25% [34.67%–79.07%], p = 0.001). The repeated HTPR rate was dramatically higher for high-dose clopidogrel compared with half-dose ticagrelor (6 of 32, 18.75% vs. 1 of 35, 2.85%; p = 0.04). No patients in either treatment group exhibited a major bleeding event or other adverse events. In ACS patients with HTPR, half-dose ticagrelor is more effective than high-dose clopidogrel in reducing platelet reactivity (NCT03062462).

Background: Because of the controversy in clinical nutritional support therapy of hydrolyzed protein formula milk and standard preterm infant formula (SPIF) in premature infants. In this study, the effectiveness and safety of preventive use of hydrolyzed protein formula milk in reducing gastrointestinal diseases and promoting physical development of premature infants are scientifically evaluated by systematic evaluation. To help find the suitable nutritional support for premature infants. Methods: To search the database of Chinese and English by computer: SinoMed, CNKI, WanFang Data, VIP, PubMed, EMbase and The Cochrane Library, and to collect randomized controlled trials on the application of hydrolyzed protein formula milk in nutritional support treatment of premature infants compared with SPIF. The retrieval time limit is from the establishment of each database to September 1, 2020. Two authors independently completed the paper search, and sorting out the main outcome indicator and secondary outcome indicator in the selected literature, and the data are statistically analyzed by Review Manager software (RevManV.5.3.0) and STATA 13.0. Results: This study will provide a high-quality evidence on the effects of hydrolyzed protein formula milk on gastrointestinal diseases and physical development of premature infants. Conclusion: At present, the clinicians are controversial about the safety and effectiveness of hydrolyzed protein formula milk and SPIF in the nutritional support therapy of premature infants. This study will compare the effectiveness and safety of these 2 nutritional support methods, and make a comprehensive analysis of the influence of hydrolyzed protein formula milk on gastrointestinal diseases and physical development of premature infants, and finally give a positive conclusion. BACKGROUND: Obesity can cause structural and functional abnormalities of the heart via complex but largely undefined mechanisms. Emerging evidence has shown that obesity results in reduced oxygen concentrations, or hypoxia, in adipose tissue. We hypothesized that the adipocyte hypoxia-signaling pathway plays an essential role in the development of obesity-associated cardiomyopathy. METHODS AND RESULTS: Using a mouse model in which the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) pathway is activated by deletion of the von Hippel-Lindau gene specifically in adipocytes, we found that mice with adipocyte-von Hippel-Lindau deletion developed lethal cardiac hypertrophy. HIF activation in adipocytes results in overexpression of key cardiomyopathy-associated genes in adipose tissue, increased serum levels of several proinflammatory cytokines including interleukin-1β and monocyte chemotactic protein-1, and activation of nuclear factor-κB and nuclear factor of activated T cells in the heart. Interestingly, genetic deletion of Hif2a, but not Hif1a, was able to rescue cardiac hypertrophy and abrogate adipose inflammation. CONCLUSION: We have discovered a previously uncharacterized mechanism underlying a critical and direct role of the adipocyte HIF-2 transcription factor in the development of adipose inflammation and pathological cardiac hypertrophy.

Objective Delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) greatly contributes to the high morbidity and mortality of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients. Expression of lectin‐like oxidized low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐1 (LOX‐1) was substantially raised in the basilar arterial wall of SAH rabbits. We attempted to ascertain the relationship between serum soluble LOX‐1 (sLOX‐1) levels and the occurrence of DCI after aSAH. Materials and methods We enrolled 125 aSAH patients and 125 healthy controls. Serum sLOX‐1 levels were quantified using commercial enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay kit. The relationship between sLOX‐1 levels and DCI was analyzed utilizing the multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results Serum sLOX‐1 levels were significantly higher in stroke patients than in controls (median: 1,450.2 vs. 445.7 pg/ml, p 1,450.2 pg/ml, WFNS scores and modified Fisher scores were the independent predictors of DCI. Under receiver operating characteristic curve, serum sLOX‐1 levels exhibited a significant discriminatory capability (area under curve 0.825, 95% confidence interval 0.747–0.887). The predictive power of serum sLOX‐1 levels was similar to those of WFNS scores and modified Fisher grade (both p > .05). Moreover, serum sLOX‐1 levels significantly improved their predictive capability (both p, There is a substantial elevation in serum sLOX‐1 levels after aSAH. The degree of development of today's country is no longer simply judged by the speed of economic growth. Environmental protection issues have begun to attract social attention. To achieve economic growth and coordinated development of environmental protection is the real growth. This paper divides 34 cities in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) into eastern, central and western regions, selects economic growth data and environmental protection data for 2017 to analyze the economic development and environmental protection status of different regions, and at the same time Select representative cities in the region, collect relevant development data of the city for nearly 10 years, build a regression model of economic development, and study the relationship between economic development and environmental protection. Finally, relevant development proposals are proposed for different regions.

Industrial parks have various sources and conversion forms of energy. The many uncertainties in the planning of industrial park integrated energy systems (IPIES) pose a great risk of regret in planning schemes; thus, an expansion planning method for an IPIES, considering regret aversion, is proposed. Based on comprehensive regret value consisting of min–max regret aversion and the min average regret value, the method optimizes the comprehensive cost of the expansion planning scheme in IPIES under different natural gas price fluctuation scenarios, including costs of construction, operation and maintenance, and environmental protection. A multi-stage expansion planning scheme and typical daily operation plans under multiple natural gas price fluctuation scenarios of the IPIES in an economic and technological development zone in southeast China are used to demonstrate the validity of the method. The results show that, compared with a traditional planning method based on expectation, the proposed expansion planning method could reduce the maximum regret value by 14% on average, and greatly reduces the risk of decision-making regret by up to 18%. At the same time, the influence of natural gas price on expansion planning of the IPIES is discussed.

The study of species co-occurrences leads to revealing interactions of a wide range of ecological processes. It plays a central role to measure and assess the association between species in a spatio-temporal dimension. The distribution of organisms and the interspecific interactions among species in the communities were investigated using the approach of species co-occurrence patterns. Totally, 114 fisheries species in the Bohai Sea were investigated following fishery-independent data (i.e., a pair of trawlers) during four distinct seasons: winter (January–February), spring (May), summer (August), and autumn (October–November), using a pairwise approach. In the present analysis, the results indicated that the fisheries species association was ‘truly random’, whereas the non-random association was around ten percent among the seasons. The species co-occurrence matrix was more obvious in summer and autumn. Similarly, species individual contribution to the positive and negative interactions was also significant for the same period. However, in the community, 62 fisheries species individuals presented non-random associations. Only the sea urchin (Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus) was non-randomly associated in each season while three fish species (Amblychaeturichthys hexanema, Ctenotrypauchen chinensis, and Eupleurogrammus muticus), one crab species (Charybdis japonica), and one octopus’ species (Octopus ocellatus) among spring, summer, and autumn with others. This understanding of the co-occurrence patterns of different fisheries species could provide more insight into future responses in the Bohai Sea.

Background Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) pathophysiology involves inflammation. Macrophage migration inhibition factor (MIF), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is related to prognosis of ischemic stroke. The aim of this study was to investigate whether serum MIF levels are associated with severity and outcomes in patients with acute ICH. Methods We enrolled a total of 120 consecutive ICH patients and 120 healthy controls and sampled blood on admission and at study entry respectively. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to quantify serum MIF levels. Results Serum MIF levels were higher in patients compared with controls and correlated with hematoma volume, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores and plasma C-reactive protein levels. After adjusting for other significant outcome predictors, MIF in serum was an independent predictor of 6-month overall survival and unfavorable outcome (modified Rankin Scale score > 2). Areas under receiver-operating characteristic curve (ROC) of serum MIF levels, hematoma volume and NIHSS scores were similar for 6-month unfavorable outcome. Moreover, serum MIF levels significantly improved areas under ROC of hematoma volume and NIHSS scores. Conclusions MIF in serum might be a potential biomarker for reflecting inflammation, severity and prognosis of ICH patients.

In order to predict the reliability of low voltage distribution network, an improved algorithm based on the traditional sequential Monte Carlo method is proposed. In this method, the basic data and operation data of low voltage power network are used to calculation parameters of each branch's and equipment's failure rate, outage time and failure effects. By combining sequential Monte Carlo method, the reliability of low voltage distribution network is predicted. This paper also put forward the measures to improve the power supply reliability of low voltage distribution network, including replacing the old line equipment, adding the sectional switch and installing the contact switch. The results show that the method proposed in this paper can be applied to the reliability prediction of low voltage distribution network.

ICT in Education has become a strategic supporting force for the reform and development of national education. In this period, the most important thing to do is to recognize, understand and construct an "ICT-enabled Classroom" which means transforming the traditional classrooms into interactive learning environment. With increasingly more mobile terminals being employed in educational context, teaching has undergone great changes, which makes it as one key issue to construct, develop and apply a new classroom evaluation model so as to foster the ICT in Education in China. The purpose of this design-based study is to develop an initial "TPOCME Deep Classroom" model (TPOCME, Higher-order Thinking, Classroom Participation, Openness of Educational System, Cooperative Learning, Meaningful Learning, Effectiveness of Technology Use), to evaluate a classroom in ICT-enriched environment through four-round iterative processes. It can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of technology integration in classroom teaching and help educators to have a profound and comprehensive understanding of the integration of ICT in education in mobile Internet era.
