Abstract: This paper employs a simultaneous equation model based on the model of Huang and Labys(2003) to describle the interactions among a set of variables such as economic growth, foreign trade, FDI and environmental pollution. An empirical test is made by using Chinese regional panel data in 1993-2007. The results indicate that export-oriented economy is good for local environments on the whole, and Environment Kuznets Curve holds true in China while Pollution Haven Hypothesis does not. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. The article presents a study which examines the association of obesity and weight gain in adulthood and telomere length. It says that telomeres play a critical role in maintaining genomic integrity and may be involved in carcinogenesis. In this study, researchers used data from 647 women ages 35-74 years in the U.S. and Puerto Rico from 2003-2004. In addition, they examined the association between current and past anthropometric characteristics and telomere length in blood.

The article presents a study regarding the association between Parkinson disease alleles and the risk of melanoma. It is said that melanoma and Parkinson disease have the same environmental and genetic risk factors as both conditions tend to occur in the same people. The study showed no evidence of the association between Parkinson disease and the risk of melanoma. Findings noted that posttranscriptional regulation affects the development of both conditions in terms of environmental exposure.
