This paper introduced a method of using electrocoagulation- flotation technology to treat zinc-containing simulated wastewater. Effects of electrode material, polar plate spacing, initial pH value, electric current and electrolysis time on Zn2+ removal efficiency in simulated wastewater were investigated. Results revealed that Zn2+ removal efficiency was highest when aluminum was used as an anode electrode, the space between polar plates was 1 cm, initial pH value was 8, electric current was 4 A, and electrolysis time was 120 minutes. In this paper, we describe the modification of sugarcane bagasse with succinic anhydride to introduce carboxylic functions to sugarcane bagasse. The properties of the sugarcane bagasse hemicelluloses change after carboxyl modification. The influences of the chemical reaction on the conditions, the chemical composition, and the thermal stability of the modified product are described. One gram of dried sugarcane bagasse was modified using 3.0 g succinic anhydride and 0.1 g N-bromination succinic imide with a reaction time of 6 h at 70°C. The obtained materials were characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, thermal analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article explores the effects of pre-extraction and of bamboo succus' main components on the alkaline peroxide mechanical pulping (APMP) pulp brightness of bambusa chungii. Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy analysis are used. Results reveal the chromophore and auxochrome groups of unsaturated bonds are abundant in the bamboo succus. The contents of methyl benzene, xylene, and hydroquinone are high in bamboo succus, and have great influence on APMP brightness.

The article examines the effects of pre-extraction on alkaline peroxide mechanical pulp (APMP) in beating, bleaching, and physical properties, and the dissolving rules of carbohydrate composition under maximum temperature and holding time. Results reveal that, after pre-extracting, the energy consumption of beating is reduced, the brightness of unbleached and bleached pump is increased, and the yield of beaching pulp is maintained. However, the tensile index and folding strength has dropped.
