Coding morbidity data using international standard diagnostic classifications is increasingly important and still challenging. Clinical coders and physicians assign codes to patient episodes based on their interpretation of case notes or electronic patient records. Therefore, accurate coding relies on the legibility of case notes and the coders' understanding of medical terminology. During the last ten years, many studies have shown poor reproducibility of clinical coding, even recently, with the application of Artificial Intelligence-based models. Given this context, the paper aims to present the SISCO.web approach designed to support physicians in filling in Hospital Discharge Records with proper diagnoses and procedures codes using the International Classification of Diseases (9th and 10th), and, above all, in identifying the main pathological condition. In application-specific designs, owing to the trade-off between power consumption and speed, optimization of various circuit parameters has become a challenging task. Several of the performance metrics, viz. energy efficiency, gain, performance, and noise immunity, are interrelated and difficult to tune. Such efforts may result in a great deal of manual iterations which in turn increase the computational overhead. Thus, it is important to develop a methodology that not only explores large design space but also reduces the computational time. In this work, we investigate the viability of using a SPICE and Python IDE (PIDE) interface to optimize integrated circuits. The SPICE simulations are carried out using 22 nm technology node with a nominal supply voltage of 0.8 V. Triple patterning lithography (TPL) has been recognized as one of the most promising solutions to print critical features in advanced technology nodes. A critical challenge within TPL is the effective assignment of the layout to masks. Recently, various layout decomposition methods and TPL-aware routing methods have been proposed to consider TPL. However, these methods typically result in numerous conflicts and stitches, and are mainly designed for 2-pin nets. This paper proposes a multi-pin net routing method in triple patterning lithography, called Mr.TPL. Experimental results demonstrate that Mr.TPL reduces color conflicts by 81.17%, decreases stitches by 76.89%, and achieves up to 5.4X speed improvement compared to the state-of-the-art TPL-aware routing method.

By leveraging the powerful capability of the Open Digital Twin Platform (ODTP) alongside advanced software sensors, IUMENTA offers researchers a user-friendly tool to seamlessly develop adaptive digital replicas of animal-based processes. This framework establishes a dynamic ecosystem that integrates insights from diverse experiments, consequently enhancing our understanding of animal behavioural and physiological responses. There have been works discussing the adoption of a human rights framework for responsible AI, emphasizing various rights such as the right to contribute to scientific advancements. Yet, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to take this framework with special focus on computer vision and documenting human rights violations in its community. This work summarizes such incidents accompanied with evidence from the lens of a female African Muslim Hijabi researcher. While previous works resorted to qualitative surveys that gather opinions from various researchers in the field, this work argues that a single documented violation is sufficient to warrant attention regardless of the stature of this researcher. Incidents documented in this work include silence on Genocides that are occurring while promoting the governments contributing to it, a broken reviewing system and corruption in the faculty support systems. This work discusses that demonizing individuals for discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, creed or reprisal has been a successful tool for exclusion with documented evidence from a single case. We argue that human rights are guaranteed for every single individual even the ones that might be labelled as devils in the community for whichever reasons to dismantle such a tool from its roots.

The suboptimal physical design of the integrated circuits may not only increase the manufacturing costs due to the larger size of the chip but can also impact its performance by placing interconnected rectangular devices too far from each other. In the domain of Analog and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits (AMS ICs), placement automation is lacking behind its digital counterpart, mainly due to the variety of components and complex constraints the placement needs to satisfy. Integer Linear Programming (ILP) is a suitable approach to modeling the placement problem for AMS ICs. However, not even state-of-the-art solvers can create high-quality placements for large problem instances. In this paper, we study how to improve the results of our previous ILP model, first by introducing additional constraints and second by using matheuristics. Given the initial solution we obtain using our original ILP model, we use the solver to perform a local search. We try to improve the criterion by considering only a few spatially close rectangles while keeping the rest of the placement fixed. This local search approach enables us to significantly improve the quality of instances whose solution space we could not sufficiently explore before, even when the computation time reserved for the matheuristic is limited. Finally, we evaluate our revised approach on synthetically generated instances containing more than 200 independent rectangles and on real-life problems., Comment: 24 pages

This paper explores a GIS-based application of the conditional p-median problem (where p = 1) in last-mile delivery logistics. The rapid growth of e-commerce in Pakistan has primarily benefited logistics companies, which face the challenge of resolving inefficiencies in the existing infrastructure and scaling effectively to meet increasing demand. Addressing these challenges would not only reduce operational costs but also lower carbon footprints. We present an algorithm that utilizes road-network-based distances to determine the optimal location for a new hub facility, a problem known in operations research as the conditional p-median problem. The algorithm optimizes the placement of a new facility, given q existing facilities. The past delivery data for this research was provided by Muller and Phipps Logistics Pakistan. Our method involves constructing a distance matrix between candidate hub locations and past delivery points, followed by a grid search to identify the optimal hub location. To simulate the absence of past delivery data, we repeated the process using the population distribution of Lahore. The RESISTO project, a pioneer innovation initiative in Europe, endeavors to enhance the resilience of electrical networks against extreme weather events and associated risks. Emphasizing intelligence and flexibility within distribution networks, RESISTO aims to address climatic and physical incidents comprehensively, fostering resilience across planning, response, recovery, and adaptation phases. Leveraging advanced technologies including AI, IoT sensors, and aerial robots, RESISTO integrates prediction, detection, and mitigation strategies to optimize network operation. This article summarizes the main technical aspects of the proposed solutions to meet the aforementioned objectives, including the development of a climate risk detection platform, an IoT-based monitoring and anomaly detection network, and a fleet of intelligent aerial robots. This paper introduces Mov-Avg, the Python software package for time series analysis that requires little computer programming experience from the user. The package allows the identification of trends, patterns, and the prediction of future events based on data collected over time. In this regard, the Mov-Avg implementation provides three indicators to apply, namely: Simple Moving Average, Weighted Moving Average and Exponential Moving Average. Due to its generic design, the Mov-Avg software package can be used in any field where the application of moving averages is valid. This paper examines the electrification of transportation as a response to environmental challenges caused by fossil fuels, exploring the potential of battery electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as alternative solutions. However, a significant barrier to their widespread adoption is the limited availability of charging infrastructure. Therefore, this study proposes the development of comprehensive charging stations capable of accommodating both battery and hydrogen vehicles to address this challenge. The energy is purchased from the day-ahead and intraday auction-based electricity markets, where the electricity price is subject to uncertainty. Therefore, a two-stage stochastic programming model is formulated while the price scenarios are generated utilizing a k-means clustering algorithm. Given the complexity of the proposed model, an efficient solution approach is developed through the hybridization of the Benders decomposition algorithm and stochastic dual dynamic programming. In the Benders master problem, day-ahead bidding variables are determined, whereas the Benders sub-problem addresses intraday bidding and charging station scheduling variables, employing stochastic dual dynamic programming to tackle its intractability. Additionally, we transform the mixed integer linear program model of the second stage problem into a linear program, confirming its validity through KKT conditions. Our model provides practical insights for making informed decisions in electricity markets based on sequential auctions. While the bidding curves submitted to the day-ahead market remain unaffected by scenarios, those submitted to the intra-day market show dependence on fluctuations in day-ahead market prices.

Identifying driver genes is crucial for understanding oncogenesis and developing targeted cancer therapies. Driver discovery methods using protein or pathway networks rely on traditional network science measures, focusing on nodes, edges, or community metrics. These methods can overlook the high-dimensional interactions that cancer genes have within cancer networks. This study presents a novel method using Persistent Homology to analyze the role of driver genes in higher-order structures within Cancer Consensus Networks derived from main cellular pathways. We integrate mutation data from six cancer types and three biological functions: DNA Repair, Chromatin Organization, and Programmed Cell Death. We systematically evaluated the impact of gene removal on topological voids ($\beta_2$ structures) within the Cancer Consensus Networks. Our results reveal that only known driver genes and cancer-associated genes influence these structures, while passenger genes do not. Although centrality measures alone proved insufficient to fully characterize impact genes, combining higher-order topological analysis with traditional network metrics can improve the precision of distinguishing between drivers and passengers. This work shows that cancer genes play an important role in higher-order structures, going beyond pairwise measures, and provides an approach to distinguish drivers and cancer-associated genes from passenger genes.

Time-Dependent Constrained Path Optimization (TD-CPO) takes the following input: (i) time-dependent (TD) road network, (ii) source ($s$), (iii) destination ($d$), (iv) departure time ($t$) and, (v) budget ($\mathcal{B}$). In TD graph, each edge is characterized by a time-dependent arrival time and a score function. TD-CPO aims to determine a loopless path $s$--$d$ departing from $s$ at time $t$ and arriving at $d$ on or before $t+\mathcal{B}$ while maximizing the score. TD-CPO has applications in urban navigation. TD-CPO is a variant of the Arc Orienteering Problem (AOP) known to be NP-hard in nature. The key computational challenge of TD-CPO is that we need to find the "longest path" in terms of score within the given budget constraint in a TD graph. Current works prune down the search space very aggressively. Thus, despite having low execution time, these algorithms often produce low-quality solutions. In contrast, our proposed approach $\mathcal{SCOPE}$ efficiently solves TD-CPO by exploiting road networks' spatial and temporal properties. The inherent computational structure of $\mathcal{SCOPE}$ enables trivial parallelization for improved performance. Our experiments indicate that $\mathcal{SCOPE}$ produces superior quality solutions (nearly $2x$) compared to the state-of-the-art algorithm while having comparable running times. The increase in global trade, the impact of COVID-19, and the tightening of environmental and safety regulations have brought significant changes to the maritime transportation market. To address these challenges, the port logistics sector is rapidly adopting advanced technologies such as big data, Internet of Things, and AI. However, despite these efforts, solving several issues related to productivity, environment, and safety in the port logistics sector requires collaboration among various stakeholders. In this study, we introduce an AI-based port logistics metaverse framework (PLMF) that facilitates communication, data sharing, and decision-making among diverse stakeholders in port logistics. The developed PLMF includes 11 AI-based metaverse content modules related to productivity, environment, and safety, enabling the monitoring, simulation, and decision making of real port logistics processes. Examples of these modules include the prediction of expected time of arrival, dynamic port operation planning, monitoring and prediction of ship fuel consumption and port equipment emissions, and detection and monitoring of hazardous ship routes and accidents between workers and port equipment. We conducted a case study using historical data from Busan Port to analyze the effectiveness of the PLMF. By predicting the expected arrival time of ships within the PLMF and optimizing port operations accordingly, we observed that the framework could generate additional direct revenue of approximately 7.3 million dollars annually, along with a 79% improvement in ship punctuality, resulting in certain environmental benefits for the port. These findings indicate that PLMF not only provides a platform for various stakeholders in port logistics to participate and collaborate but also significantly enhances the accuracy and sustainability of decision-making in port logistics through AI-based simulations.

Despite being legally equivalent to handwritten signatures, Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) have not yet achieved significant market success. QES offer substantial potential for reducing reliance on paper-based contracts, enabling secure digital applications, and standardizing public services. However, there is limited information on their usability despite the extensive range of use cases. To address this gap, we systematize QES use cases and categorize the system designs implemented to support these use cases, emphasizing the necessity to evaluate their respective strengths and weaknesses through usability studies. Additionally, we present findings from cognitive walkthroughs conducted on use cases across four different QES systems. In the context of smart city development, mobile sensing emerges as a cost-effective alternative to fixed sensing for on-street parking detection. However, its practicality is often challenged by the inherent accuracy limitations arising from detection intervals. This paper introduces a novel Dynamic Gap Reduction Algorithm (DGRA), which is a crowdsensing-based approach aimed at addressing this question through parking detection data collected by sensors on moving vehicles. The algorithm's efficacy is validated through real drive tests and simulations. We also present a Driver-Side and Traffic-Based Model (DSTBM), which incorporates drivers' parking decisions and traffic conditions to evaluate DGRA's performance. Results highlight DGRA's significant potential in reducing the mobile sensing accuracy gap, marking a step forward in efficient urban parking management.

The data circulation is a complex scenario involving a large number of participants and different types of requirements, which not only has to comply with the laws and regulations, but also faces multiple challenges in technical and business areas. In order to systematically and comprehensively address these issues, it is essential to have a comprehensive and profound understanding of 'data circulation'. The traditional analysis method tends to proceed based on the traditional circulation model of commodities, that is, tangible objects, which has some defects and shortcomings, and tends to be a formalized approach, which is faced numerous challenges in practice. This paper analyzes the circulation of data with a philosophical approach, obtains the new explication of data and executing entity, and provides a new definition of the concepts of data utilization and data key stakeholders (objects). At the same time, it puts forward the idea of ``data alienation'', and constructs a new interpretive framework of ``data circulation''. Based on the framework of this interpretation, it is clearly proposed that ``data alienation'' is the core of ``data circulation'', benefit distribution is the driving force, and legal compliance is the foundation, and further discussed the three modes of ``data circulation''. It further discusses the three modes of ``data circulation''. It is pointed out that ``data circulation'' is different from traditional ``commodity circulation''. To achieve ``data circulation'',a comprehensive information infrastructure needs to be established. from a theoretical point of view, it lays a solid foundation for the development of ``data circulation''.

Star scientists are highly influential researchers who have made significant contributions to their field, gained widespread recognition, and often attracted substantial research funding. They are critical for the advancement of science and innovation, and they have a significant influence on the transfer of knowledge and technology to industry. Identifying potential star scientists before their performance becomes outstanding is important for recruitment, collaboration, networking, or research funding decisions. Using machine learning techniques, this study proposes a model to predict star scientists in the field of artificial intelligence while highlighting features related to their success. Our results confirm that rising stars follow different patterns compared to their non-rising stars counterparts in almost all the early-career features. We also found that certain features such as gender and ethnic diversity play important roles in scientific collaboration and that they can significantly impact an author's career development and success. The most important features in predicting star scientists in the field of artificial intelligence were the number of articles, group discipline diversity, and weighted degree centrality. Buildings contain electro-mechanical systems that ensure the occupants' comfort, health, and safety. The functioning of these systems is automated through control programs, which are often available as reusable artifacts in a software library. However, matching these reusable control programs to the installed technical systems requires manual effort and adds engineering cost. In this article, we show that such matching can be accomplished fully automatically through logical rules and based on the creation of semantic relationships between descriptions of \emph{physical processes} and descriptions of technical systems and control programs. For this purpose, we propose a high-level bridging ontology that enables the desired rule-based matching and equips digital twins of the technical systems with the required knowledge about the underlying physical processes in a self-contained manner. We evaluated our approach in a real-life building automation project with a total of 34 deployed air handling units. Our data show that rules based on our bridging ontology enabled the system to infer the suitable choice of control programs automatically in more than 90\% of the cases while avoiding almost an hour of manual work for each such match.

Digital transformation (DX) has recently become a pressing issue for many companies as the latest digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, can be easily utilized. In contrast, large language models (LLMs) represented by ChatGPT and natural language processing utilizing LLMs have been developed revolutionarily. We study the biological evolution of low-latency natural neural networks for short-term survival, and its parallels in the development of low latency high-performance Central Processing Unit in computer design and architecture. The necessity of accurate high-quality display of motion picture led to the special processing units known as the GPU, just as how special visual cortex regions of animals produced such low-latency computational capacity. The human brain, especially considered as nothing but a scaled-up version of a primate brain evolved in response to genomic bottleneck, producing a brain that is trainable and prunable by society, and as a further extension, invents language, writing and storage of narratives displaced in time and space. We conclude that this modern digital invention of social media and the archived collective common corpus has further evolved from just simple CPU-based low-latency fast retrieval to high-throughput parallel processing of data using GPUs to train Attention based Deep Learning Neural Networks producing Generative AI with aspects like toxicity, bias, memorization, hallucination, with intriguing close parallels in humans and their society. We show how this paves the way for constructive approaches to eliminating such drawbacks from human society and its proxy and collective large-scale mirror, the Generative AI of the LLMs.

The floorplanning of Systems-on-a-Chip (SoCs) and of chip sub-systems is a crucial step in the physical design flow as it determines the optimal shapes and locations of the blocks that make up the system. Simulated Annealing (SA) has been the method of choice for tackling classical floorplanning problems where the objective is to minimize wire-length and the total placement area. The goal in industry-relevant floorplanning problems, however, is not only to minimize area and wire-length, but to do that while respecting hard placement constraints that specify the general area and/or the specific locations for the placement of some blocks. We show that simply incorporating these constraints into the SA objective function leads to sub-optimal, and often illegal, solutions. We propose the Constraints-Aware Simulated Annealing (CA-SA) method and show that it strongly outperforms vanilla SA in floorplanning problems with hard placement constraints. We developed a new floorplanning tool on top of CA-SA: PARSAC (Parallel Simulated Annealing with Constraints). PARSAC is an efficient, easy-to-use, and massively parallel floorplanner. Unlike current SA-based or learning-based floorplanning tools that cannot effectively incorporate hard placement-constraints, PARSAC can quickly construct the Pareto-optimal legal solutions front for constrained floorplanning problems. PARSAC also outperforms traditional SA on legacy floorplanning benchmarks. Goal-oriented analysis tools are used to assess goal models and assist analysts in decision-making. We introduce the VeGAn-Tool, which prioritizes goals according to their qualitative importance for the stakeholders and propagates this information in the goal model according to the different types of relationships. The FTOPSIS technique is used to calculate the value of each intentional element by employing the fuzzified importance (importance level fuzzified and refined by a confidence level) and the impact among the related intentional elements. The result is a prioritized goal model according to the value of each intentional element from the stakeholders' point of view.

In this paper, a novel approach to sign language recognition based on state tying in each of data streams is presented. In this framework, it is assumed that hand gesture signal is represented in terms of six synchronous data streams, i.e., the left/right hand position, left/right hand orientation and left/right handshape. This approach offers a very accurate representation of the sign space and keeps the number of parameters reasonably small in favor of a fast decoding. Experiments were carried out for 5177 Chinese signs. The real time isolated recognition rate is 94.8%. For continuous sign recognition, the word correct rate is 91.4%. The project targets both oral corpus and the rich text resources written in the Maghreb region. It focuses particularly on the continuity, for more than 12 centuries, of a classical still alive Arabic language and on the extreme hybridization of vernacular languages sustained by the rich Libyan, Roman, Hebrew and Ottoman influences and by the more recent French, Spanish and Italian linguistic interference. In short, the Maghreb is a place of extremely abundant, but much unexploited, textual studies.

The landscape of traditional industrial manufacturing is undergoing a pivotal shift from resource-intensive production and long supply chains to more sustainable and regionally focused economies. In this evolving scenario, the move towards local, on-demand manufacturing is emerging as a remedy to the environmentally damaging practice of mass-producing products in distant countries and then transporting them over long distances to customers. This paradigm shift significantly empowers customers, giving them greater control over the manufacturing process by enabling on-demand production and favouring local production sites over traditional mass production and extensive shipping practices. In this position paper we propose a cloud-native Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) platform that integrates advances in three-dimensional (3D) printing technology into a responsive and eco-conscious manufacturing ecosystem. In this context, we propose a high-level architectural design for a cloud-based MaaS platform that connects web shops of local stores with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating 3D printers. Furthermore, we outline an experimental design, including a cost-benefit analysis, to empirically evaluate the operational effectiveness and economic feasibility in a cloud-based additive manufacturing ecosystem. In the evolving landscape of workplace dynamics, the shift towards hybrid working models has highlighted inefficiencies in the use of traditional office space and the need for an improved employee experience. In this position paper we propose a Smart Office solution that addresses these challenges by integrating a microservice architecture with Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to provide a flexible, personalized workspace environment. The position paper focuses on the technical implementation of this solution, including the design of a Workplace Environment Index (WEI) to monitor and improve office conditions. By using cloud technology, IoT devices with sensors, and following a user-centred design, the proposed solution shows how Shared Open Workspaces can be transformed into adaptive, efficient environments that support the diverse needs of the modern workforce. This study introduces time-windowed variations of three established trajectory simplification algorithms. These new algorithms are specifically designed to be used in contexts with bandwidth limitations. We present the details of these algorithms and highlight the differences compared to their classical counterparts. To evaluate their performance, we conduct accuracy assessments for varying sizes of time windows, utilizing two different datasets and exploring different compression ratios. The accuracies of the proposed algorithms are compared with those of existing methods. Our findings demonstrate that, for larger time windows, the enhanced version of the bandwidth-constrained STTrace outperforms other algorithms, with the bandwidth-constrained improved version of \squish also yielding satisfactory results at a lower computational cost. The modernization of offi cial statistics involves the use of new data sources, such as data collected through remote sensing. The document contains a description of how an urban green index, derived from the SDG 11.7 objective, was obtained for Romania's 41 county seat cities based on free data sets collected by remote sensing from the European and North American space agencies. The main result is represented by an estimate of the areas of surfaces covered with vegetation for the 40 county seat towns and the municipality of Bucharest, relative to the total surface. To estimate the area covered with vegetation, we used two data sets obtained by remote sensing, namely data provided by the MODIS mission, the TERRA satellite, and data provided by the Sentinel 2 mission from the Copernicus space program. Based on the results obtained, namely the surface area covered with vegetation, estimated in square kilometers, and the percentage of the total surface area or urban green index, we have created a national top of the county seat cities

Smart meter is not only a device used to measure the amount of electricity, but also a core component of the smart grid, realizing the efficient monitoring, prediction and management of power use. With an insight into the evolution of smart meter technology, I realized that this change didn't happen overnight. It has undergone a long journey from the initial mechanical electricity meters to the electronic electricity meters, and now to the highly intelligent electricity meters. Technological breakthroughs at each stage have laid the foundation for the final form of smart meters. In the era of mechanical watt-hour meters, the measurement of electric energy mainly depends on the rotation and counting of mechanical structures. The accuracy and stability of this method are affected by mechanical wear, environmental interference and other factors, and it is difficult to meet the increasing demand for power management. With the rapid development of electronic technology, the electronic electricity meter came into being. It uses electronic technology to sample and process the current and voltage, which greatly improves the accuracy and stability of the measurement. At the same time, the electronic electricity meter also has the function of remote meter reading and data processing, which has brought great convenience to the power management. However, there still have some limitations, such as the complexity of data processing and the limitation of communication capacity. It is these challenges that drive the creation of smart power meters. smart meters combine advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data and cloud computing to realize the real-time monitoring, analysis and prediction of the use of power.

With a large number of populations, many problems are rising rapidly in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. Water-logging is one of the major issues among them. Heavy rainfall, lack of awareness and poor maintenance causes bad sewerage system in the city. As a result, water is overflowed on the roads and sometimes it gets mixed with the drinking water. To overcome this problem, this paper realizes the potential of using Internet of Things to combat water-logging in drainage pipes which are used to move wastes as well as rainwater away from the city. The proposed system will continuously monitor real time water level, water flow and gas level inside the drainage pipe. Moreover, all the monitoring data will be stored in the central database for graphical representation and further analysis. In unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, the potential advantage of the line-of-sight (LoS) path, characterized by its high probability of existence, has not been fully harnessed, thereby impeding the improvement of channel estimation (CE) accuracy. Inspired by the ideas of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), this letter develops a LoS sensing method aimed at detecting the presence of LoS path. Leveraging the prior information obtained from LoS path detection, the detection thresholds for resolvable paths are proposed for LoS and Non-LoS (NLoS) scenarios, respectively. By employing these specifically designed detection thresholds, denoising processing is applied to classical least square (LS) CE, thereby improving the CE accuracy. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in enhancing CE accuracy and demonstrate its robustness against parameter variations.

Hybrid beamforming (HBF) is a key technology to enable mm-wave Massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) receivers for future-generation wireless communications. It combines beamforming in both analog (via phase shifters) and digital domains, resulting in low power consumption and high spectral efficiency. In practice, the problem of joint beamforming in multi-user scenarios is still open because an analog beam can't cover all users simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical approach to divide users into clusters. Each cluster consists of users inside a virtual sector produced by the analog beamforming of an HBF-based mMIMO receiver. Thus, inside each sector, a lower-cost digital beamforming serves a limited number of users within the same cluster. Simulations with realistic non-line-of-sight scenarios generated by the QuaDRiGa 2.0 demonstrate that our methods outperform standard FFT-based alternatives and almost achieve SVD-based beamspace performance bound.

In this paper, we propose a trainable least squares (LS) approach for reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals in a hybrid beamforming (HBF) system. Compared to digital beamforming (DBF), in HBF technology the number of antennas exceeds the number of digital ports. Therefore, PAPR reduction capabilities are restricted by both a limited bandwidth and the reduced size of digital space. The problem is to meet both conditions. Moreover, the major HBF advantage is a reduced system complexity, thus the complexity of the PAPR reduction algorithm is expected to be low. To justify the performance of the proposed trainable LS, we provide a performance bound achieved by convex optimization using the CVX Matlab package. Moreover, the complexity of the proposed algorithm can be comparable to the minimal complexity of the digital ``twin'' calculation in HBF. The abovementioned features prove the feasibility of the trained LS for PAPR reduction in fully-connected HBF.

We present the results of the first large-scale study into Android markets that offer modified or modded apps: apps whose features and functionality have been altered by a third-party. We analyse over 146k (thousand) apps obtained from 13 of the most popular modded app markets. Around 90% of apps we collect are altered in some way when compared to the official counterparts on Google Play. Modifications include games cheats, such as infinite coins or lives; mainstream apps with premium features provided for free; and apps with modified advertising identifiers or excluded ads. We find the original app developers lose significant potential revenue due to: the provision of paid for apps for free (around 5% of the apps across all markets); the free availability of premium features that require payment in the official app; and modified advertising identifiers. While some modded apps have all trackers and ads removed (3%), in general, the installation of these apps is significantly more risky for the user than the official version: modded apps are ten times more likely to be marked as malicious and often request additional permissions., Comment: To be published in the 2024 Symposium on Electronic Crime Research (eCrime 2024)

This transformation has not only driven the rapid development of electricity meter technology, but also met the increasing power demand and management requirements. This paper expounds the concept of multi-function meter, the working principle and algorithm of digital multiplier, the initiation and evolution of multi-function electricity meter standard, and the initiation and evolution of domestic multi-function electricity meter products. Although the domestic independent production of multi-functional meter has made great achievements in performance, but in the reliability and key process technology still need to be improved. In addition, the development of communication technology also provides a new opportunity for the progress of electricity meter technology. The application of the new technology provides a more convenient and efficient way for the data transmission and remote management of electricity meters. Domestic multi-functional electricity meters have made remarkable achievements in technology evolution and application and expansion, but they still face some challenges and opportunities. In the future, with the continuous development of the power market and the promotion of smart grid construction, domestic multi-functional electricity meters need to continue to strengthen technological innovation and product research and development, improve the reliability and competitiveness of products, in order to meet higher application needs and market requirements.

CMOS VLSI technology is the most dominant integration methodology prevailing in the world today. Various signal-processing blocks are made using analog or digital design techniques in MOS VLSI. An important component is the Memory unit used to store data. In the project a memory cell has been built up using analog design method. A capacitor is used as the basic storage device. The main idea behind analog memory is that the analog value of the charge or voltage stored in the capacitor is the data stored. So the dielectric quality of the capacitor becomes important here to determine how effectively it can store some charge. Analog memory is a trade off between hardware cost, chip area and accuracy or quality of storage. The circuit of analog memory cell was developed starting from the idea that required voltage will be stored in a capacitor and MOS transistors were used as switches. A given technology of integration was used and hence the dielectric property of the capacitor was fixed. By suitable circuit configuration the analog voltage value was written to the capacitor, read out when required and the charge loss was also refreshed. The Bin Packing Problem is one of the most important problems in discrete optimization, as it captures the requirements of many real-world problems. Because of its importance, it has been approached with the main theoretical and practical tools. Resolution approaches based on Linear Programming are the most effective, while Constraint Programming proves valuable when the Bin Packing Problem is a component of a larger problem. This work focuses on the Bin Packing constraint and explores how GPUs can be used to enhance its propagation algorithm. Two approaches are motivated and discussed, one based on knapsack reasoning and one using alternative lower bounds. The implementations are evaluated in comparison with state-of-the-art approaches on different benchmarks from the literature. The results indicate that the GPU-accelerated lower bounds offers a desirable alternative to tackle large instances.

Selenium WebDriver is a library that allows controlling web browsers (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, etc.) programmatically. It provides a cross-browser programming interface in several languages used primarily to implement end-to-end tests for web applications. JUnit is a popular unit testing framework for Java. Its latest version (i.e., JUnit 5) provides a programming and extension model called Jupiter. This paper presents Selenium-Jupiter, an open-source JUnit 5 extension for Selenium WebDriver. Selenium-Jupiter aims to ease the development of Selenium WebDriver tests thanks to an automated driver management process implemented in conjunction with the Jupiter parameter resolution mechanism. Moreover, Selenium-Jupiter provides seamless integration with Docker, allowing the use of different web browsers in Docker containers out of the box. This feature enables cross-browser testing, load testing, and troubleshooting (e.g., configurable session recordings). This paper presents an example case in which Selenium-Jupiter is used to evaluate the performance of video conferencing systems based on WebRTC. The problem of graph isomorphism is an important but challenging problem in the field of graph analysis, for example: analyzing the similarity of two chemical molecules, or studying the expressive ability of graph neural networks. WL test is a method to judge whether two graphs are isomorphic, but it cannot distinguish all non-isomorphic graphs. As an improvement of WL, k-WL has stronger isomorphism discrimination ability, and as k increases, its discrimination ability is strictly increasing. However, whether the isomorphic discrimination power of k-WL is strictly increasing for more complex 3D graphs, or whether there exists k that can discriminate all 3D graphs, remains unexplored. This paper attempts to explore this problem from the perspective of graph generation.

Challenges can be seen as a type of game that motivates participants to solve serious tasks. As a result, competition organizers must develop effective game rules. However, these rules have multiple objectives beyond making the game enjoyable for participants. These objectives may include solving real-world problems, advancing scientific or technical areas, making scientific discoveries, and educating the public. In many ways, creating a challenge is similar to launching a product. It requires the same level of excitement and rigorous testing, and the goal is to attract ''customers'' in the form of participants. The process begins with a solid plan, such as a competition proposal that will eventually be submitted to an international conference and subjected to peer review. Although peer review does not guarantee quality, it does force organizers to consider the impact of their challenge, identify potential oversights, and generally improve its quality. This chapter provides guidelines for creating a strong plan for a challenge. The material draws on the preparation guidelines from organizations such as Kaggle 1 , ChaLearn 2 and Tailor 3 , as well as the NeurIPS proposal template, which some of the authors contributed to.

In 2006, the course "Modeling of Organizations" is taught for the third time. This third time will be the second time we will use the new lecture notes "Work Systems Modelling" from the DA VINCI series. These lecture notes, however, will be evolved further hand-in-hand with the actual process of lecturing. In the academic year 2005/2006, a second incarnation of these lecture notes will be created, where the aim is to deliver these lecture notes in three increments. An important step that will be taken in this academic year is the integration of the ICIS Work Systems Modelling lecture notes with the NICI course on Organisational Dynamics. The first results of this integration will start to appear in the second and third trimester.

Since the energy domain is in a transformative shift towards sustainability, the integration of new technologies and smart systems into traditional power grids has emerged. As an effective approach, Petri Nets (PN) have been applied to model and analyze the complex dynamics in Smart Grid (SG) environments. However, we are currently missing an overview of types of PNs applied to different areas and problems related to SGs. Therefore, this paper proposes four fundamental research questions related to the application areas of PNs in SGs, PNs types, aspects modelled by PNs in the identified areas, and the validation methods in the evaluation. The answers to the research questions are derived from a comprehensive and interdisciplinary literature analysis. The results capture a valuable overview of PNs applications in the global energy landscape and can offer indications for future research directions.

Preserving and safeguarding the Cultural Heritage (CH) of our world from unforeseen hazards should be viewed as a collective responsibility for humanity. Consequently, there is a growing imperative for targeted measures aimed at conserving, rejuvenating, and safeguarding historical assets that carry cultural significance. In recent times, Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Photogrammetry, and applications in Mixed Reality (MR) have assumed a pivotal role in the mapping, recording, preservation, and promotion of Cultural Heritage. This ar-ticle endeavors to present a comprehensive approach spanning from 3D surveying to the 3D representation and promotion of Religious Cultural Heritage, offering an overview of the applied methodologies. Through the integration of TLS and UAV photogrammetry techniques, a comprehensive digital record of Panagia Ekatontapyliani, the adjoining Church of Agios Nikolaos, and the Baptistery, along with their wall paintings (hagiographies) and natural surroundings, has been obtained. This record serves as the foundation for historical documentation and recreation using the HBIM concept, paving the way for the development of diverse Mixed Reality applications. This paper examines the relevance of the Godot Engine in the indie game industry. The Godot Engine is a relatively new game engine from 2014 and competes with leading market players. To get to the bottom of its relevance, two major online sales platforms and the game engines that are commonly used, Steam and itch[dot]io, are examined. Mainly, these findings are compared with reference data from 2018. It turns out that the Godot engine has gained massive relevance in 2020 and now seems to be one of the leading players in the indie game industry. The exact causes are difficult to determine. In the realm of 3D digital human applications, music-to-dance presents a challenging task. Given the one-to-many relationship between music and dance, previous methods have been limited in their approach, relying solely on matching and generating corresponding dance movements based on music rhythm. In the professional field of choreography, a dance phrase consists of several dance poses and dance movements. Dance poses composed of a series of basic meaningful body postures, while dance movements can reflect dynamic changes such as the rhythm, melody, and style of dance. Taking inspiration from these concepts, we introduce an innovative dance generation pipeline called DanceMeld, which comprising two stages, i.e., the dance decouple stage and the dance generation stage. In the decouple stage, a hierarchical VQ-VAE is used to disentangle dance poses and dance movements in different feature space levels, where the bottom code represents dance poses, and the top code represents dance movements. In the generation stage, we utilize a diffusion model as a prior to model the distribution and generate latent codes conditioned on music features. We have experimentally demonstrated the representational capabilities of top code and bottom code, enabling the explicit decoupling expression of dance poses and dance movements. This disentanglement not only provides control over motion details, styles, and rhythm but also facilitates applications such as dance style transfer and dance unit editing. In this work, a new method for designing an analog circuit for deep sub-micron CMOS fabrication processes is proposed. The proposed method leverages the regression algorithms with the transistor circuit model to size a transistor in 0.18 um technology fast and without using simulation software. Threshold voltage, output resistance, and the product of mobility and oxide capacitance are key parameters in the transistor circuit model to size a transistor. For nano-scale transistors, however, these parameters are nonlinear with respect to electrical and physical characteristics of transistors and circuit simulator is needed to find the value of these parameters and therefore the design time increases. Regression analysis is utilized to predict values of these parameters. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed method by designing a Current Feedback Instrumentational Amplifier (CFIA). We show that the presented method accomplishes higher than 90% accuracy in predicting the desired value of W. It reduces the design time over 97% compared to conventional methods. The designed circuit using the proposed method consumes 5.76 uW power and has a Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) of 35.83 dB and it results in achieving 8.17 V/V gain., Comment: Master's Thesis, University of Akron (2021). In this paper, we bridge work in rock climbing route generation and grading into the computational creativity community. We provide the necessary background to situate that literature and demonstrate the domain's intellectual merit in the computational creativity community. We provide a guiding set of desiderata for future work in this area. We propose an approach to computational route grading. Finally, we identify important gaps in the literature and consider how they may be filled. This paper thus also serves as a pilot study, planting a flag for our ongoing research in this domain.
