Introduction. The problem of the phenomenon of self-esteem, as the most important component of self-awareness, in recent decades has attracted the attention of clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, specialists in various fields, including teachers and parents. The problem of forming self-esteem can be considered one of the key topics in psychology, because self-esteem, formed in childhood, is the foundation of personal development. Purpose. The purpose of the article: to carry out a theoretical analysis and conduct an empirical study of adolescent self-esteem. Methods. To solve this goal, the following methods were used: analysis of scientific psychological literature, comparison, generalization, systematization of information and its interpretation, observation and 3 psychodiagnostic techniques. The study was conducted on the basis of Sribnyanska Secondary School of 1-3 grades, Sribne village (Chernihiv region). The sample was made by pupils of 5-7 classes. The total number of respondents is 52 students. The study was conducted using "Methods for diagnosing interpersonal relationships and human perceptions of themselves" created by T. Leary, G. Leforge, R. Sazek, as well as to study relationships in small groups and the method "Scale for measuring self-esteem" T. Dembo, S. Ya Rubinstein. Methods of diagnosis of Dembo-Rubinstein self-assessment modified by AM Parafiyan. Methods for diagnosing the confidence of S. Reitus "Self-confidence". Originality. The practical significance of the article is that the results of the study can be used in further research and analysis of the results of self-esteem. Conclusion. The article analyzes the concept of personal self-esteem in domestic and foreign psychology, analyzes the features, types and functions of adolescent self-esteem, gender and age characteristics of self-esteem. The prospect of further research is expected in the continuation of the study of self-esteem of adolescents in wartime., Мета статті полягає у здійсненні теоретичного аналізу та проведенні емпіричного дослідження щодо проблеми самооцінки підлітків. Для вирішення поставленої мети були використані наступні методи: аналіз наукової психологічної літератури, порівняння, узагальнення, систематизація отриманої інформації та її інтерпретація, спостереження та 3 психодіагностичні методики. Досліджувану вибірку складало 52 учня 5-7 класів.
