1. Synthesis of Polyacrylate Dispersants and the Influence of these Dispersants on Rheological Properties of Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR)/Aluminum Hydroxide (ATH) Composites

Abstract

Polyacrylate dispersants were synthesized by applying orthogonal array experiment method, among which the affecting factors include chain transfer agents: isopropanol (IPA). dodecyl mercaptan (DDM); initiators: benzoylperoxide (BPO), azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) and their contents, temperature, the content of acrylic acid and types of the monomers of solvation chains, of which poly (methacrylate), poly (ethyl acrylate), poly (butyl acrylate) were solvation chains. The optimal factors were obtained by comparing the viscosity decrease of the unsaturated polyester resin (UPR)/aluminum hydroxide (ATH) composites with different dispersants, and it showed that the dispersant with poly (butyl acrylate) as solvation chain whose length is around 7.0nm has the best result of improving rheological properties of UPR/ATH Composites and reducing systems thixotropy.

2. Deformation Behaviors of Tube Rotary-Draw Bending Filled with Steel Balls

Abstract

Wrinkling, wall thickness overthinning and cross-section distorting are main defects that seriously affect the forming quality of the tube in bending process. In this paper, numerical simulation based on PAM-STAMP 2G is conducted for the tube rotary-draw bending filled with steel balls as pressure transferring medium to analyze the deformation behaviors under various internal pressures. The results show that, tube bending filled with steel balls as pressure transferring medium can effectively restrain the defects of wrinkling and cross-section distorting. In addition, wrinkling and cross-section distorting of the bent tube decrease, the wall thickness thickening at the intrados of the bent tube decreases while the wall thickness thinning at the extrados increases with the internal pressure.

22. Photocatalytic Reduction of CO2 on Au/TiO2 Nanocomposite Film

Abstract

Plasmonic Au decorated TiO2 nanosheet film was firstly prepared by the combination of a hydrothermal method and a microwave-assisted chemical reduction process. The prepared sample was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-vis absorption spectrum (UV-vis) and photoluminescence spectrum (PL) respectively. Results show that Au nanoparticles with narrow distribution are uniformly loaded on the nanosheet surface, and the resulted composite nanostructure exhibits distinct surface plasmon absorption and quenched photoluminescence compared to pure TiO2 nanostructure. Photocatalytic tests show that Au decorated TiO2 exhibits enhanced photocatalytic activity for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to methanol.

23. Synthesis and Thermal Analysis of C16H13N5O3 and its Complexes with Rare Earth

Abstract

The 2-carboxybenzaldehyde-1H-benzotriazol-1-aceylhydrazone (C16H13N5O3) has been synthesized and used in preparing thirteen novel rare earth complexes. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, and UV-Vis, and the formula is RE (C16H11N5O3)·NO3·xH2O·yC2H5OH (RE=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Ho, Er, Yb) and RE(C16H12N5O3)2·NO3·5H2O (RE=Gd, Dy, Y) .The thermal decomposition processes of the thirteen complexes were studied by thermal gravimetric technology and their apparent activation energy values were calculated by Kissingers and Ozawass method.

24. Synthesis, Characterization, DNA-Binding Study of C15H12O4N2 and its Lanthanide Complexes

Abstract

A new series complexes of Ln nitrate with H2L, where Ln stands for La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Yb, and H2L is 2-carboxybenzaldehyde- (4-hydroxy) benzoylhydrazone, were synthesized. Elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy were used to characterize and found that the complexes were Ln (HL)2(NO3)·4EtOH·4H2O type. The binding mode of complexes with CTDNA was investigated by UV-Vis titration and emission titration, suggesting that the complexes bind with CTDNA in a non-covalent groove binding mode.
