The Edwin B. Newman Graduate Research Award is given jointly by Psi Chi and APA. The award was established to recognize young researchers at the beginning of their professional lives and to commemorate both the 50th anniversary of Psi Chi and the 100th anniversary of psychology as a science (dating from the founding of Wundt's laboratory). It was named for Dr. Edwin B. Newman, the first national president of Psi Chi (1929) and one of its founders. The 2018 recipient is Cope Feurer, "for an outstanding research paper that examines a hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis multilocus genetic profile score (MGPS) as a moderator of the relation between stress and depressive symptoms for offspring of depressed mothers." This article presents a developmental model of anti-racism among White children and youth. Informed by a structural–psychological framework (Syed & McLean, 2021), the model proposes that anti-racist development is inseparable from the structures and systems that uphold racial inequality in the United States. In articulating the processes by which children and early adolescents move toward becoming anti-racist, the model emphasizes foundational abilities (e.g., socio-cognitive skills and moral development), a developing sense of self and society (e.g., recognition of racism and understanding of White privilege), and the importance of anti-racism action and promotive contexts (especially within schools and families). This paper concludes with advancing a research agenda for developmental scientists studying the development of anti-racism among White children and youth and implications for parents, practitioners, and educators. A preeminent researcher in the field of early experience and brain development, Victor H. Denenberg contributed hundreds of articles and chapters, and several texts, to the field of behavioral neuroscience during his lifetime. Denenberg was born April 3, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended college on the GI Bill and graduated from Bucknell University in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He went on to receive a doctorate in 1953 in experimental psychology at Purdue University, with minors in statistics, industrial psychology, and physiology. In 1954, Denenberg was appointed assistant professor of psychology at Purdue University, where he was tenured and remained for 15 years. Over the course of his career, Denenberg published nearly 400 scholarly papers and chapters, including a dozen articles in Science or Nature. Denenberg received many honors during his lifetime, including a Carnegie Fellowship and appointment to the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Brain Sciences. He was also appointed to numerous executive committees of the American Psychological Association (APA) and served as a Board member for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Fellowship Committee. Victor H. Denenberg died July 19, 2008. Information about the topics discussed at several meetings of the American Psychological Association in different regions in the U.S is presented. Eastern Psychological Association Report of the 78th Annual Meeting has discussed various areas of psychology. Midwestern Psychological Association Report of the 79th Annual Meeting has highlighted the papers for presentation. New England Psychological Association Report of the 47th Annual Meeting has discussed topics related to psychology.

Psychology has much to contribute in terms of understanding and influencing the impact of the global coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. To disseminate articles on key issues related to the pandemic in a time-sensitive manner, American Psychologist opened its Call for Papers in spring 2020. The journal applied a rapid review mechanism in order to publish articles on important aspects of the pandemic quickly. The response from around the world has been striking. The Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) held its 62nd annual meeting in 1991. The numbering of those meetings began with a meeting of the New York Branch of the American Psychological Association in 1930, but the roots of EPA are much deeper, originating with the formation of the New York Branch in 1903. The branch began as a forum for the exchange of scientific information in psychology in the New York City area. It was initially successful, meeting three times per year for a one-day program, and featured a Who's Who of speakers delivering some of the most important papers in the history of American psychology. After World War I its character, like that of psychology, began to change as the program reflected the growth in applied psychology and the membership began to be dominated by nonpsychologists. Its reorganization in 1930 restored control of the branch to university-based psychologists and reestablished the scientific goals that characterize EPA today. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
