The article presents a study on the properties of ethanol fermentation by basidiomycetes to determine its suitability for consolidated bioprocessing (CBP) by Flammulina velutipes. Basidiomycetes can degrade lignocellulosic biomass and produce alcohol dehydrogenase which may be useful for direct production of ethanol from lignocellulose. Methods used include inoculum preparation for fermentation, and measurement of ethanol. Results show advantageous characteristics of F. velutipes for CBP.
