The article presents a study on the identification and isolation of a hydroxylated 1,3-dihydroisobenzofuran, FR198248, from Aspergillus flavipes as an inhibitor of peptide deformylase (PDF). The study showed that PDF inhibitors have acted as broad-spectrum antibacterial agents. It concludes that 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans are highly hydroxylated and showed moderate antibacterial activity against Staphylococus aureus.

The article reports on the results of a study of glioperazine B, an antimicrobial agent against Staphylococcus aureus, and glioperazine C which are both dioxopiperazines from Bionectra byssicola. A description of the experimental setup and measurement method is presented. The study showed that glioperazine B is an unusual dioxopiperazine metabolite containing an OMe group at the alpha-carbon of the amino acid residue.
