Due to its high surface area and large pore volume, PSC shows great potential for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) removal. Water vapor commonly exists along with VOCs and the competitive adsorption between VOCs and water vapor would significantly restrict the VOCs adsorption of PSC under high humidity. To address this issue, hydrophobic porous starch-based carbon composite (PSCC) was also prepared by physically mixing PSC with poly-divinylbenzene (PDVB) for toluene adsorption under high humidity to suppress the influence of water vapor. As relative humidity increased from 0 % to 80 %, the toluene adsorption capacity of PSC-2 decreased by 46 % while PSCC only experienced a decrease of 22 %. PSCC could also maintain its toluene adsorption performance (close to 100 %) after five adsorption–desorption cycles. Theoretical computations were also proved that the addition of PDVB inhibits water vapor adsorption and promotes its desorption, thereby enhancing the toluene adsorption of PSCC under high humidity. This work provides a controllable preparation and facile modification of porous carbon to improve its toluene adsorption under high humidity, offering a great application prospect for VOCs removal. • The catalysts were synthesized by dealloying melt-spun ribbons. • The optimal processed ribbons exhibited excellent catalytic performance. • Dealloying treatment achieved faster kinetics and more active sites. • Dealloying decreased the water dissociation and hydrogen absorption energy. The development of high-performance and low-cost alkaline hydrogen precipitation catalysts is critical for the large-scale application of hydrogen energy. In this work, the nanoporous alloy catalysts were synthesized by dealloying melt-spun NiZrPt ribbons. The optimal sample after dealloying shows excellent HER performance in alkaline medium, with a small overpotential of 15 mV to deliver 10 mA cm−2 and a low Tafel slope of 20 mV/dec. The material characterization reveals that the incorporation of Ni modulates the electronic structure of Pt. After selective dealloying of Zr and Ni, a Pt-enriched nanoporous structure was formed on the catalyst surface. Meanwhile, the remaining Ni sites acted as synergistic sites to activate the Pt sites, which allowed for better hydrogen adsorption energy and faster kinetics of the catalytic reaction. Besides, the favorable mechanical flexibility of the material makes it potential for self-supporting electrode. Macrophage infection has long represented highly lethal chronic diseases that possesses recurrent, resistant and refractory traits, thus the development of non-antibiotic drugs capable of penetrating cell membranes and eradicating resistant bacteria concealed within macrophages is a pressing yet formidable challenge. Here we introduce a method using a cationic heme-mimetic gallium porphyrin (Ga-CHP) to treat intracellular macrophage infections through eradicating Staphylococcus aureus concealed within them by 1.6 μM of Ga-CHP. Notably, this method does not induce detectable drug resistance and the Ga-CHP micro-pinocytosed into the macrophages in an energy-dependent manner can maintain high level stability in harsh lysosomal environment. In addition, the outstanding cytocompatibility of Ga-CHP ensures effective treatment of pathogens without affecting normal macrophages. More importantly, after tail-vein injection of Ga-CHP on abdominally infected mice, it was found to be effective in reducing the bacterial burden in vivo, superior to vancomycin which represents state of the art intracellular antibacterial agents. Meanwhile, the health status of Ga-CHP-treated mice were significantly improved compared with the control group. This work emphasizes the efficacy of Ga-CHP in eradicating intracellular bacteria concealed within macrophages along with its outstanding cytocompatibility, and provides a promising therapeutic strategy for addressing clinical macrophage infections. Biodegradable magnesium-based vascular stent has become a research hotspot in the field of interventional medical engineering. However, the rapid degradation rate and inadequate biocompatibility of magnesium-based vascular stents often lead to implant failure in biomedical applications. It is of great research significance to slow down the degradation rate of magnesium-based stents and impart them with multifunctional bioactivity through surface modification. In this study, a self-healing coating with embedding of polyphenols is developed to create on the surface of magnesium towards corrosion protection and biocompatibility. By controlling and studying the self-healing responsiveness of the coating, the corrosion resistance under vascular implantation conditions is investigated. The embedding of polyphenols endows the interface a self-healing capability, which might be drawn as the chelation between phenol/metal ions and the formation of intermolecular connection between each of the chelating units which ultimately cause enhanced corrosion protection. Furthermore, the evaluation of biocompatibility indicates that the polyphenol-loaded polymer layer shows good biocompatibility, which is beneficial for the repair of the vascular microenvironment. Piezoresistive sensors are highly desired in a wide variety of fields in health monitoring, human–machine interaction, robot sensing, and so on. Developing engineering-architected piezoresistive sensors with biocompatibility, high sensitivity, and mechanical robustness is one of the hot research fields. Here, a high-performance hybrid carbon aerogel is constructed from bacterial cellulose, chitosan, graphene oxide, and graphene based on synergistic electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding through unidirectional freeze-casting and carbonization. The carbon aerogel, characterized by its unique lamellar and fibrous alternating structure, mirrors the stability of a well-constructed "bridge". In this analogy, the layer functions as a steady "girder", while the fiber emulates indispensable "stay cable". The ordered microstructure contributes to uniform stress transfer, yielding a carbon aerogel-based sensor that exhibits high piezoresistive linear sensitivity (150 kPa−1), outstanding mechanical stability (3000 compressing cycles), and a quick response/recovery time (120/90 ms). The piezoresistive sensor detects real-time human physiological signals and effectively distinguishes subtle and different acoustic signals, enabling sound visualization. Also, it can work well in extreme conditions (200 °C and −196 °C). The increasingly severe energy shortage and growing environmental problems have accelerated the rapid development of sustainable polymer materials. Hereon, a novel method was proposed for the synthesis of cashew nut shell oil-based waterborne polyurethane (WPUs), which exhibited excellent toughness, transparency, water resistance, UV resistance and corrosion resistance. Specifically, the sorbitan monooleate-based siloxane (MSP) was prepared via a thiol-ene click chemistry reaction. Subsequently, the plant-based phloretin (PRT) and MSP were introduced as polyols into the skeleton of WPUs through the molecular structure design strategy. Series of high bio-based content (91 %) WPUs networks were obtained via pre-polymerization and self-emulsification methods. The properties of their dispersions and films were thoroughly investigated, and it was found that the addition of MSP and PRT enhanced the overall performance of WPUs film. For instance, there was a significant increase in T g. Additionally, they exhibited a maximum tensile strength of 31.5 MPa and a maximum toughness of 53 MJ/m3, which were the most outstanding among all reported plant oil-based WPU systems so far, indicating excellent tear resistance. Interestingly, the water absorption rate of PSWPU-40 was reduced to 7.1 %, suggesting good water resistance, which resolved the contradiction between the mechanical properties and water resistance of the current plant oil-based WPU systems. The PSPWU films exhibited promising application prospects, exemplified by its ability to effectively shield the entire UV range. Furthermore, its coating demonstrated outstanding anti-corrosion properties with a maximum anticorrosion efficiency of 97.1 %. It could be attributed to the synergistic effect of a self-crosslinking structure, higher crosslinking density, a tighter network structure, and stronger intermolecular forces (H-bond). The utilization of inexpensive and efficient amine-functionalized adsorbents has become a research hotspot in post-combustion capture technology. Meanwhile, the structure of the support and the selection of organic amines are the primary considerations affecting the CO 2 adsorption performance. Herein, the novel solid amine adsorbent materials with amine-support interfacial effect were successfully synthesized in this study by loading four organic amines (TETA, TEPA, PEHA, and PEI) onto expanded vermiculite (EVMT) support with the layered structure. The results indicated that EVMT-50TETA exhibited superior CO 2 adsorption capacity (132.5 mg/g) along with effective regeneration capability. This was attributed to the unique layered structure of EVMT that facilitates the dispersion of TETA on its surface or between layers as well as the formation of hydrogen bonds between surface functional groups (–OH) and amines to enhance the amine-support interfacial interaction. Furthermore, the minimal volume expansion of TETA during CO 2 adsorption enables improved diffusion of CO 2 in channels and enhanced accessibility to active sites. DFT calculations show higher binding energies and faster CO 2 adsorption-diffusion rates between TETA and EVMT support. In situ DRIFTS experiments revealed that the process of CO 2 adsorption followed the zwitterion mechanism, in which the zwitterion can be reversibly deprotonated to form ammonium carbamate and carbamic acid. This study provides comprehensive insights into the supports and amines interfacial effects through systematic investigation, offering both simplified synthesis strategies and profound theoretical support for studying solid amine adsorbents. A catalyst with both photocatalytic and biomimetic catalytic activity for H 2 O 2 production has been successfully prepared by loading gold nanoparticles on graphite carbon nitride nanosheets using polyethyleneimine (PEI) as the "bridge". The biomimetic-photo-coupled catalysis endows PEI-GCN/Au with a high H 2 O 2 production efficiency (270 μmol g−1h−1). Inspired by the photo-enzyme-coupled catalytic system in chloroplasts, we developed a composite catalyst with both photocatalytic and biomimetic catalytic activity for H 2 O 2 production by loading gold nanoparticles (AuNPs, enzyme mimics) on graphite carbon nitride (GCN, photocatalyst) nanosheets using polyethyleneimine (PEI) as the "bridge". The introduction of PEI and AuNPs can adjust the electronic structure of GCN, facilitating the rapid separation of photogenerated carriers. Moreover, surface plasmon resonance of AuNPs excited by incident light promotes the activation of glucose molecules, elevating their reactivity with O 2 , thereby improving the glucose oxidase-mimicking catalytic production of H 2 O 2. Furthermore, the grafting of PEI and the addition of glucose enhance the O 2 adsorption on the catalyst surface. Thus, both biomimetic catalytic and photocatalytic reduction of O 2 to H 2 O 2 are boosted, achieving a significant synergistic enhancement effect of 175%. Warm plasma offers a promising route for CO 2 splitting into valuable CO, yet recombination reactions of CO with oxygen, forming again CO 2 , have recently emerged as critical limitation. This study combines experiments and fluid dynamics + chemical kinetics modelling to comprehensively analyse the recombination reactions upon CO 2 splitting in an atmospheric plasmatron. We introduce an innovative in-situ gas sampling technique, enabling 2D spatial mapping of gas product compositions and temperatures, experimentally confirming for the first time the substantial limiting effect of CO recombination reactions in the afterglow region. Our results show that the CO mole fraction at a 5 L/min flow rate drops significantly from 11.9 % at a vertical distance of z = 20 mm in the afterglow region to 8.6 % at z = 40 mm. We constructed a comprehensive 2D model that allows for spatial reaction rates analysis incorporating crucial reactions, and we validated it to kinetically elucidate this phenomenon. C O 2 + M ⇌ O + C O + M and C O 2 + O ⇌ C O + O 2 are the dominant reactions, with the forward reactions prevailing in the plasma region and the backward reactions becoming prominent in the afterglow region. These results allow us to propose an afterglow quenching strategy for performance enhancement, which is further demonstrated through a meticulously developed plasmatron reactor with two-stage cooling. Our approach substantially increases the CO 2 conversion (e.g., from 6.6 % to 19.5 % at 3 L/min flow rate) and energy efficiency (from 13.5 % to 28.5 %, again at 3 L/min) and significantly shortens the startup time (from ∼ 150 s to 25 s). Through-space coupling (TSC) is the essential component of π-stacked systems and has promise in charge transport and electronic communication, which is of great significance for the construction of efficient and stable photoelectric devices. In this work, we demonstrate a chiral dual-core strategy for the design of high-performance organic circularly polarized emitters, which features of connecting two thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) luminophores with chiral linkage that allows efficient TSC to occur. Using this strategy, a pair of dual-core enantiomers, R/S-DNKP, were designed and synthesized by linking two benzophenone derivatives with a 1,1′-bi-2-naphthol unit. Compared to the mono-core counterpart NKP, the dual-core emitters exhibited the photoluminescence quantum yields up to 94 %. Moreover, benefiting from their chiral helical folding configurations, the R/S-DNKP enantiomers exhibited the luminescence dissymmetry factor (| g lum |) value of +2.7 × 10−3 and −2.6 × 10−3 in doped films. Notably, the electroluminescence devices based on the R/S-DNKP enantiomers achieved external quantum efficiency values of 21.5 % and 19.7 % with little roll-off. In this work, an MMP-2/GSH-responsive nanobomb loading Resiquimod (R848) and prodrug Cisplatin (Pt) with hierarchical drug delivery and tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) polarization traits was designed for improved chemo-immunotherapy. The Pt-carrying dendrimers penetrate the depth of tumor tissues under MMP-2 and activate the cytotoxicity of Pt prodrug in response to GSH, causing effective tumor damage and enhancing immunogenicity. Meanwhile, R848 is effectively uptake by TAMs, which were re-educated and then greatly relieved immune resistance. In vitro and in vivo results collectively revealed that the nanosystem could not only overcome the barrier of tumor penetration and the heterogeneity action sites of drugs but also re-educate TAMs and suppress immune evasion via activating extracellular signal-regulated kinase/mitogen-activated protein kinase (ERK/MAPK) signal pathway regulated by heparin binding EGF like growth factor (Hbegf) gene. The favorable 3D porous morphology combined with the abundant adsorption sites in DAAQ-COF enables DAAQ-COF@S cathodes to deliver high specific capacity and remarkable rate performance for Li-S batteries. Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have emerged as a promising alternative energy storage system due to their high energy density and cost-effectiveness. However, practical applications of Li-S batteries are hindered by challenges such as the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) flower-like diaminoanthraquinone (DAAQ)-covalent organic framework (COF) was developed, featuring nanorod-like petals and enriched with abundant N and O adsorption sites, serving as a host material for the sulfur cathode of Li-S batteries. Through a process of sulfur melting-diffusion, the resulting DAAQ-COF@S cathode material demonstrated a stable 3D cross-linked morphology with a hierarchical pore structure, maximizing the exposure of N/O adsorptive sites and facilitating rapid ion diffusion. This effectively inhibited the shuttling effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) and enhanced rate performance. Consequently, DAAQ-COF@S cathodes exhibited a high initial discharge capacity of 1182.0 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C, with a capacity retention rate of 79.6% after 500 cycles at 2 C. Even at a high current density of 4 C, they maintained a high capacity of 616.8 mAh g−1, surpassing the majority of previously reported COF-based host materials for Li-S batteries. For OSCs, it is crucial to broaden the absorption range while minimizing energy loss. One strategy involves creating acceptors with asymmetric structures. However, to date, there have been relatively few reports on NFRA with asymmetric backbones. Here, we designed a new NFRA molecule UF-ATT-2F with asymmetric π-bridges (thieno [3,2-b] thiophene and thiophene) and studied its performance in OSC. Compared with two symmetric reference molecules UF-T-2F and UF-TT-2F, the device based on the asymmetric acceptor UF-ATT-2F exhibits much lower energy loss, more appropriate phase separation scale and broader absorption range, consequently achieving a higher open-circuit voltage (V oc) exceeding 0.9 V and a decent PCE of 13.26 %. High-Ni cathodes are being intensely pursued worldwide for electric vehicles and other energy-dense applications due to their high capacity and low cost. However, structural instabilities during electrochemical cycling and when subjected to thermal treatment have been the major issues hindering their practical deployment. We here report a rational design of coating-integrated-into-synthesis protocol for fabricating surface Ti-enriched LiNi 0.8 Mn 0.1 Co 0.1 O 2 (NMC811#Ti) material. The coating to intermediates is crucial to obtain high structural ordering, both in the bulk and surface of high-Ni cathodes, and the Ti substitute has a unique tri-valence (Ti3+) in a gradient surface distribution. The simulations of projected density of states in the atomistic understanding further certify significantly enhanced stability of lattice oxygen for the NMC811 through such a Ti3+-based structure reinforcement. Consequently, the NMC811#Ti cathode delivers a high capacity up to 200 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C, along with superior stabilities during air-storage and thermal treatment (up to 297 °C at the fully charged state under differential scanning calorimetric measurements). The corresponding NMC811#Ti||graphite full cell exhibits a desired 83.6 % capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 0.5 C in a voltage range of 2.8–4.3 V. A novel composite material (PDDA-modified Ti 3 C 2 T x nanoribbons) was created to fabricate flexible humidity sensors through a fully printed method, demonstrating excellent practicality in multiple application scenarios including non-contact humidity monitoring. Non-contact humidity monitoring can provide us with rich information about our bodies in a non-invasive way. However, this concept is hindered by the low sensitivity and slow response time of conventional humidity sensors. Herein, we employed two strategies, structural design and surface modification of MXene materials, to improve the sensitivity of MXene-based humidity sensors. A 3D porous structure was formed by the alkalinization treatment MXene, which facilitated rapid diffusion of water molecules along interlayer nanochannels and fast electron transport. Furthermore, the charged positively poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) was adsorbed onto the surface of the 3D skeleton through self-assembly to prepare a novel composite material KPMX. The loaded PDDA enhanced the interaction between MXene and water molecules, reducing the oxidation sensitivity of MXene. Additionally, the material was further formulated as inks with suitable viscosity and successfully used to produce a paper-based flexible humidity sensor through screen printing. Consequently, the KPMX sensor exhibited impressive potential in humidity sensing with high sensitivity (48813 %), rapid response/recovery time (8.794/2.656 s), and excellent stability. [Display omitted] • Typical N -heterocyclic thiols can unexpectedly activate H 2 O 2 to produce •OH. • It's an unprecedented sulfenic-acid dependent •OH production. • The •OH production is moderate, long-lasting, and covers a broad pH range. • Free –SH group, electron-withdrawing N atom, and ortho -location are essential. The decomposition of H 2 O 2 to produce the highly-reactive hydroxyl radical (•OH) is one of most well-known pathways to generate •OH, which can be readily activated by transition metal ions and haloquinones, but rarely by N -heterocyclic thiol compounds. Here we found, unexpectedly, that DNA oxidative damage can be induced by H 2 O 2 together with 2-mercaptopyridine (PySH), a typical N -heterocyclic thiol compound widely-used in industry, agriculture, medicine and organic synthesis, which was found to be mainly due to production of •OH independent of transition metal ions. 2,2′-Dithiodipyridine, pyridine-2-sulfenic acid (PySOH), pyridine-2-sulfinic acid and pyridine-2-sulfonic acid were step-wisely produced during the reaction of PySH/H 2 O 2 , and the source and origin of the oxygen atoms inserted into these intermediates and products were found to be from H 2 O 2 by oxygen-18 isotope labeling technique coupled with ESI-Q-TOF-MS analysis. More importantly, among all the transient intermediates, PySOH was found to be the key one directly responsible for •OH production from PySH/H 2 O 2. Analogous results were observed with several PySH derivatives. This is the first report on an unprecedented sulfenic acid-dependent •OH production from the activation of H 2 O 2 by N -heterocyclic thiol compounds, which may have important chemical, biological and biomedical implications for future study of these widely-used compounds. [Display omitted] • An intramolecular dual-locking design is proposed for multifunctional "hot exciton" emitters. • A new donor–acceptor molecule (LPCz-TRZ) with appreciable global rigidity and local flexibility is synthesized. • A high-contrast, fatigue-resistance data-recording device is demonstrated with LPCz-TRZ. • A high-performance deep-blue OLED with an external quantum efficiency as high as 7.88% is realized. An intramolecular dual-locking design is proposed for organic luminescent materials, aiming at synergistically adjusting the molecular rigidity and flexibility for applications in data storage and light-emitting devices. According to this concept, a multifunctional donor–acceptor type emitter, LPCz-TRZ, is developed, featuring a "soft" diphenylmethane lock and a "hard" single-bond lock in its donor moiety. The highly locked structure results in appreciable rigidity that endows LPCz-TRZ with high luminescence efficiency, narrow emission, promoted charge conductivity and triplet harvesting "hot exciton" channels, allowing high-performance deep-blue organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with an external quantum efficiency as high as 7.88%, which is among the best deep-blue "hot exciton" OLEDs. Notably, the structure of LPCz-TRZ is semi-flexible, leading to unique mechanochromic luminescence (MCL) behavior. Compared to the conventional MCL emitters, the orchestration of rigidity and flexibility in LPCz-TRZ affords high-contrast, fatigue-resistance MCL, as evidenced by a simple, rewritable data-recording demonstration with negligible fatigue after up to 15 wiring-erasing cycles. [Display omitted] Mass production of Bi3+ and Te4+ co-doped vacancy-ordered Cs 2 HfCl 6 (CHC) double perovskites (DPs) under room temperature (RT) was reported, which was enabled by the rationally designed ligand of [Hmim]Cl. The resultant CHC DPs exhibit overall excellent performance with robust photostability and superior PL QY of 96.4%, ∼2 times to the highest one of the analogues obtained at RT ever reported. • The PLQY of CHC DPs can be optimized to 96.4% with the assistance of [Hmim]Cl. • The multi-functional effects of [Hmim]Cl ligand have been clarified. • The mass production of high-quality CHC DPs at room temperature has been achieved. Vacancy-ordered double perovskites (DPs) are promising candidates for modern white light-emitting-diodes (WLEDs) due to their low toxicity and unique optical properties. However, the grand challenge is that DPs synthesized at room temperature (RT) typically have a low photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), most of which reported below 51 %, making them impractical for applications. Here, we present a facile strategy for the mass production of Bi3+ and Te4+ co-doped Cs 2 HfCl 6 (CHC) DPs at RT, to realize single-component dual-band emission with a high color rendering index. It is witnessed that the rationally designed ligand [Hmim]Cl facilitates a strong chemical interaction between the ligand and DPs. This interaction allows [Hmim]Cl to coordinate with undercoordinated Hf4+ ions and provide excess chloride ions to the surface of the DPs. Consequently, it effectively controls the crystallization of DPs, protects them against moisture, reduces surface defects, and increases the migration barrier of halogen ions. As a result, the DPs exhibit excellent overall performance with robust photostability and a superior PLQY of 96.4 %, which is ∼ 2 times the highest reported value for similar DPs synthesized at RT. Thrombosis formation and bacterial infection pose significant challenges in the clinical application of long-term implanted prosthetic heart valves (PHV), and the two challenges generally occurred in the middle and late stages of implantation. So, it would be very valuable for PHV to realize antibacterial and thrombolysis "on-demand". In this study, we constructed a photo-triggered coating to simultaneously address the above both challenges based on photodynamic therapy (PDT), which has been widely researched due to its advantage of spatiotemporal control. The photosensitizer chlorin e6 (Ce6) were grafted onto the polyethyleneimine (PEI) and introduced into the coating by layer-by-layer (LBL) technology. Under near-infrared (660 nm) irradiation, the coating could release reactive oxygen species (ROS), effectively destroy bacterial walls and disintegrating the fibrin three-dimensional network structure of formed thrombi. Therefore, the coating exhibited dual functionality of antibacterial and thrombolysis "on-demand". Experimental results demonstrated that the coating effectively eradicated gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria both in vitro and in vivo , as well as causing thrombolysis under irradiation. These results highlight the potential of this coating in improving the anticoagulation and antibacterial properties of prosthetic heart valves and other long-term implanted devices.
