Since the first example was prepared via Knoevenagel condensation in 2016, vinylene-linked covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have attracted increasing interest owing to the high in-plane π-conjugation and robust stability. However, such COFs can only produce few amounts of hydrogen under visible-light irradiation due to the wide band gap and low hydrophilicity. Herein, we developed a facile end-capping strategy to manipulate the band gap, hydrophilicity and morphology of vinylene-linked COF (g-C 18 N 3 -COF). The COFs end-capped with variable positions of hydroxyl groups showed 4.5 times improvement in visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution activity compared to pristine COF. Both experimental and computational studies reveal that optimizing the contents and positions of hydroxyl groups narrowed the band gap and improved the hydrophilicity of pristine COF. The end-capping strategy efficiently reduced the charge recombination and energy barrier for the formation of H intermediate species (H*) explaining the improved hydrogen evolution properties. A novel CMC/PVA/MIL-101(Cr) aerogel bead (CPMB) was prepared by the green polymer matrix of CMC and PVA and nanofiller of MIL-101(Cr) through the simple complexing with the ionic crosslinking agent, which could be an adsorptive platform for effectively capturing of Co(II) and Ni(II) ions in wastewater. The morphology, surface chemistry, and textural characteristics were investigated by varied characterization methods to reveal behind mechanisms for the dissimilarity in adsorption performance. The optimal modifying dosage of MIL-101(Cr) nanoparticles was determined to form an optimal tailored network with abundant MIL-101 clusters and hydroxyl/carboxyl groups inside the network that greatly achieved the most accessible heavy metals to CPMB-1. Meanwhile, the influences of temperature, adsorption dosage, pH, and interfering cations on the capacity of CPMB-1 were investigated, while adsorption behaviors of adsorbents were also explored. Analytic results indicated that the capture of two targeted ions by CPMB-1 could favorably comply with the Pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich isothermal adsorption model. The maximum adsorption capacities of two targeted ions calculated by data were 180.3 mg/g and 261.9 mg/g, respectively. According to the results of XPS and FTIR analysis, the electrostatic attraction and chelating effect could be the main mechanisms for improved performance, and contributing groups were the hydroxyl and carboxylic acid introduced into CPMB-1. Moreover, the as-designed CPMB-1 exhibited excellent recyclability and stability in eight cycles. The encouraging results exhibited by CPMB-1 might bring a new idea for integrating multiple functionalities of MOFs and biomass components for designing functional composites for efficient remediations of wastewater. Herein, three-dimensional porous BN microbeads assembled by 2D BN nanosheets with enriched defects and high specific surface area have been synthesized by solvent-free strategy, leading to multiply narrow band gaps and radical-contained OB 3 structure. The narrowed band gaps together with radicals enhance the light absorption and electron delocalization which is further confirmed by Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculation, resulting in the change of BN from a photocatalytic inert to highly active material. This paper reports the preparation of zein nanoribbons and their application in the removal of Pb(II) from polluted water. A modified coaxial electrospinning process was conducted permitting the smooth and continuous generation of zein nanoribbons. The process utilized sodium lauryl sulfate ethanol aqueous solution as the sheath fluid to overcome protein–metal interactions and the corresponding spinneret clogging. Scanning electron microscopic images demonstrated that the zein nanoribbons created using the modified processes had a flatter and narrower morphology than the analogous materials from a single-fluid process. By exploiting the favorable interactions between metal and protein, these zein nanoribbon mats were used to treat Pb(II)-polluted water. Adsorption results indicated that equilibrium was obtained in 60 min for Pb(II) solutions with initial concentrations of 100, 150 and 200 mg/L. The process can be described using the pseudo-second-order model. Isotherm data fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm model, with a maximum adsorption of 89.37 mg/g. Desorption results showed that the adsorption capacity can remain up to 82.3% even after 5 cycles of re-use. Mn-based layered oxides have become one of the most promising cathode materials in potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) due to their high theoretical specific capacity. Nonetheless, the Jahn-Teller effect of Mn3+ leads to lattice distortion and a high K+ migration barrier, resulting in structural instability during the charge/discharge processes. To effectively overcome these problems, this work provides a method to change electronic energy levels to suppress the Jahn-Teller effect through the synergistic regulation of multiple specific element doping. The X-ray diffraction pattern of K 0.4 Mn 0.7 Ti 0.1 Ni 0.1 Cu 0.1 O 2 shows its P3-type structure. The electrochemical test results demonstrate that K 0.4 Mn 0.7 Ti 0.1 Ni 0.1 Cu 0.1 O 2 exhibits superior rate capacity, higher discharge specific capacity, and significant cycling stability (with a capacity retention rate of 80 % after 860 charge/discharge cycles). The in-situ X-ray diffraction pattern demonstrates the high reversibility of the electrochemical process of K+ insertion/extraction. First-principles calculations have confirmed that the electronic energy levels of K 0.4 Mn 0.7 Ti 0.1 Ni 0.1 Cu 0.1 O 2 have better dispersion, the K+ migration channel has been effectively optimized, and the K+ migration barrier has been reduced. The research for new generations of high explosives with the remarkable overall performance has always been a challenging task. Currently, the research priority of energetic materials is to explore new design strategies to balance and/or break the energy-safety limits. In this study, an intramolecular integration of various heterocyclic skeletons based on the unique superiority of each heterocycle was developed. By employing this approach, an advanced energetic molecule integrating 1,2,5-oxadiazole, 1,2,4-oxadiaozle and pyrazole skeletons, 5-(3,4-dinitro-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-3-(4-nitro-1,2,5-oxadiazol-3-yl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (6), was designed and prepared. The energy level (e.g., detonation velocity: 9094 m s−1) of 6 is approaching that of the extensively used high explosive, RDX (8801 m s−1), while its safety (impact sensitivity: IS = 24 J; thermal stability: T dec = 265 °C) are obviously superior to that of RDX (IS = 7.4 J; T dec = 204 °C). These favorable energetic properties demonstrate the outstanding overall performance of 6. Abstract: In this study, Bi2O3 with band gap energy of 2.6eV was coated on a Ti disk and used in a rotating disk reactor to treat 10mgL−1 Rhodamine B (RB) solution under UV and visible light irradiation. The effects of different inorganic anions (including , S2−, , F− and Cl−) were investigated and the results shown that the color removal efficiency could be greatly improved in the presence of Cl−. RB adsorption capacity could be enhanced when Cl− was added and RB could further be degraded due to indirect dye self-photosensitization under visible light irradiation. The radicals generated during the reaction were detected by adding radical trapping agents and other experimental conditions like Cl− concentration, rotating speed and pH of the process were investigated and optimized. Spinal cord injury (SCI) creates an inflammatory microenvironment characterized by immune cell activation and oxidative stress imbalance, which exacerbates secondary damage and impedes neural regeneration. Locoregional strategies that inhibit the infiltration and polarization of inflammatory cells remain largely unexplored for SCI treatment. Here, an immunoregulatory hydrogel (defined as CSGA) was designed and developed by integrating non-covalent and covalent interactions between carboxymethyl chitosan (CS) and gallic acid (GA). Bioinspired by mussels, the functional modules and assembly pattern endowed this polyphenol-based hydrogel with multiple functionalities, including tissue adhesiveness, injectability, self-healing, anti-oxidation, and anti-inflammation, to satisfy complex treatment requirements. The optimal formulation was hierarchically screened based on in vitro properties and in vivo activities. Therapeutically, local treatment with CSGA hydrogel significantly prevented the infiltration of macrophages/microglia and induced a rapid switch from a detrimental (M1) phenotype to a beneficial (M2) phenotype. Importantly, CSGA treatment significantly promoted neural regeneration and attenuated scar formation, thus improving neurological functional recovery and electrophysiological restoration in a contusion SCI model. Here, we developed a new biodegradable NIR-II-responsive shape memory composite by the incorporation of CaSiCu 4 O 10 nanosheets (CUP NSs) into shape memory polymer of poly (D, L-lactide-co-trimethylene carbonate) (PDLLA-co-TMC, denoted as PT). The as-prepared CUP/PT composites possessed outstanding shape memory performance upon low power NIR-II laser irradiation (1064 nm, 0.4 W·cm−2), offering the possibility of deep-tissue applications. Herein we report on alkaline phosphatase (ALP)-responsive scaffolds, which are composed of a turn-on hemicyanine dye (LET-3) and a typical three dimensional (3D) printed bone tissue engineering scaffold (polycaprolactone/calcium silicate, PCL/CS), for real-time non-invasive monitoring of in vivo bone regeneration by near-infrared fluorescence (NIR-FL) and photoacoustic (PA) duplex imaging. ALP, an early-stage biomarker of bone formation, turns "on" the NIR-FL/PA signals of LET-3 in scaffolds both in vitro and in vivo. Sulfamethazine (SMT), taken as model compound, have been exposed to a photocatalytic system driven by ultraviolet light (UV) irradiation with Fe(III) and three carboxylic acids (citric, tartaric and malic acid). The kinetic experiments, quenching experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), species model theoretical calculation, density functional theory (DFT) and intermediates analyses, were conducted to analyze the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and underlying mechanism of Fe(III)-carboxylate complexes on photocatalytic degradation of SMT. The results indicated the complexes easily induced the degradation under UV irradiation. Enough hydroxyl radicals (· OH) were produced and the singlet oxygen (1O 2) originated from the self-sensitized oxidation. Tetracycline (TC) and chromate (Cr(VI)) are common organic or inorganic pollutants in the environment, and the interactions between them may mutually alter environmental behaviors and risks. However, the mutual effect between TC and Cr(VI) in aqueous solutions remains unclear. In this study, kinetic experiments, complexation and quenching experiments, electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis, density functional theory (DFT) calculation and identification of products, were performed to investigate the effects and underlying mechanism of Cr(VI) on oxidation and photolysis of TC. The results revealed that Cr(VI) could induce oxidation and photolysis of TC with or without light irradiation and the curve was well fitted by a pseudo first-order kinetic model. Moreover, the change of reaction conditions (such as initial concentration and pH) had great effect on oxidation or photolysis of TC. When Cr(VI) oxidized TC to form Cr(III) and TC radical, Cr(III) complexed with TC to accelerate the oxidation. In addition, oxidation still occurred under simulated irradiation. 1O 2 which promoted photolysis of TC increased upon irradiation at higher pH or with the increase of Cr(VI). The participation of Cr(VI) affected self-sensitization and product formation of TC. Therefore, an electron-transfer interaction for photolysis among 1O 2 arising from self-sensitization, Cr(VI)/Cr(III) and TC was first proposed. The transformation pathway of TC mainly included five reactions: hydrolysis, hydroxylation, deamination, dehydration and demethylation only for photolysis. This study identified new oxidation and photolysis of TC induced by Cr(VI), which will be helpful to further understand the fate of heavy metals and antibiotics in the natural aquatic environment. Although rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) are regarded as promising energy storage devices, the uncontrollable Zn dendrite and undesirable side reactions severely limit their practical applications. Herein, an anionic hydrogel electrolyte PAM/SA with 3D porous structures is developed by integrating sodium alginate (SA) and polyacrylamide (PAM) networks for highly reversible Zn plating/stripping. Mechanically enhanced and lean-water PAM/SA hydrogel with anionic chains for constructing ionic channels and molecular lubrication films, which facilitate Zn2+ migration for a high ionic conductivity (5.4 S m−1) and Zn2+ transference number (0.86) even under lean-water conditions (about 60%). Based on the experimental and theoretical analysis, the SA chain with strong coordination ability endows PAM/SA with improved desolvation kinetics and the ability to regulate the electric field intensity at the electrode/electrolyte interface, which is beneficial for suppressing side reactions and facilitating directional Zn deposition. Subsequently, the symmetric Zn//Zn cell based on PAM/SA hydrogel electrolyte delivers stable cycles for over 1800 h. Herein, a composite of Ir nanodots (7.7 wt%) decorated Ni 3 Fe alloy on reduced graphene oxide (Ir/Ni 3 Fe/rGO) is prepared via an impregnation-reduction method as a bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting. The low-content decoration enables the composite to exhibit attractive electrocatlytic performances: requiring overpotentials of 254 and 36 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 for the oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions (OER and HER) in 1.0 M KOH solution, respectively, which surpass those of Ni 3 Fe/rGO (280 and 264 mV) and Ir/rGO (340 and 150 mV). In addition, the electrocatalyst-assembled Ir/Ni 3 Fe/rGO||Ir/Ni 3 Fe/rGO electrolyzer affords a decent cell voltage of 1.570 V at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 for overall water splitting, which outperforms those of Ni 3 Fe/rGO||Ni 3 Fe/rGO (1.730 V), Ir/rGO||Ir/rGO (1.790 V), and commercial IrO 2 ||Pt/C (1.574 V). Furthermore, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) result reveals the strong interfacial interaction between Ir and Ni 3 Fe species, density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that Ir species favor water dissociation and optimize the H* adsorption energy for HER, and reduce OOH* energy for OER; all of which give rise to the observed enhancement. Catalytic distillation is an effective and important technology for low-temperature dehydrogenation of perhydro-benzyltoluene (H12-BT). However, current researches have unfortunately failed to comprehensively understand the reaction and separation processes, hindering the broader application of catalytic distillation dehydrogenation technology. Therefore, in the study, a comprehensive dehydrogenation reaction kinetic model that accounts for the influence of the intermediate H6-BT was established firstly. Subsequently, the vapor–liquid equilibrium data for the binary systems H12-BT + H6-BT and H6-BT + H0-BT was estimated by utilizing the UNIFAC model, so as to obtain the azeotropes. By developing a modified catalytic distillation model, the catalytic distillation dehydrogenation process was examined. Our exploration revealed the existence of an optimal degree of dehydrogenation value, namely 0.8, within the catalytic distillation dehydrogenation process, yielding an approximate 23.8 % reduction in unit H 2 production cost in comparison to the fully dehydrogenation case. The unstable solid electrolyte interface, huge volume expansion, and poor electrical conductivity severely hamper the commercial application of silicon (Si) anode with high capacity for next-generation lithium-ion batteries. Herein, a mixed ion–electron conductive (MIEC) binder coupling stiffness and toughness is designed to fabricate strong chemical bonds and physical hydrogen bonds with hydroxylated carbon nanotubes (CNT-OH) and Si particles by esterification reaction between sulfonic acid and hydroxyl groups. The dual crosslinking efficiently alleviates large stress from Si and maintains the electrodes' structural integrity. The excellent synergistic effect of ion and electron conductivity of the prepared binder enhances the kinetics of lithium-ion and electron transport of the Si electrodes, achieving commercial areal capacity and a long lifespan. Thus, the Si anode with the prepared resultant binder delivers a high reversible capacity of 3079 mAh/g at 0.6 A/g after 200 cycles and retains a remarkable capacity of 2151 mAh/g at a high current density of 2 A/g even after 500 cycles. The work demonstrates the great potential of this binder design strategy to achieve the overall property promotion and practical feasibility of Si and other electrodes suffering from their low conductivity and dramatic volume changes. Abstract: The biosorption of Acid Red 14 (AR14) and Reactive Red 15 (RR15) by acid treated okara (ATO) in binary solutions was investigated. To overcome the severe spectral overlapping, partial least squares regression as a multivariate calibration method was successfully developed for the simultaneous determination of AR14 and RR15 in binary solutions. In single solution, the Langmuir–Freundlich isotherm yielded the best fit for the whole concentration range; however, both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm predicted the experimental data well at the different concentration region (100–300mg/L and 300–500mg/L). Maximum biosorption capacity obtained from Langmuir isotherm for AR14 and RR15 in single solution was 217.39 and 243.90mg/g, respectively. In binary solutions, antagonistic biosorption occurred and ATO favored to adsorb RR15. Partial competitive Langmuir, Langmuir–Freundlich isotherm for a binary system and extended Freundlich isotherm could all represent the binary equilibrium data well. The FTIR results indicated the main functional groups on ATO for the biosorption would be amine, hydroxyl, carboxyl and either. Nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) and nickel/nanoscale zero-valent iron (Ni/nZVI) bimetallic particles were explored for tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) and tetrachlorobisphenol A (TCBPA) dehalogenation under ambient condition. The characteristics of the fresh and aged nanoparticles were analyzed by SEM, BET, XRD, XPS and FTIR, and found out that bimetal nanoparticles accelerated the corrosion of Fe 0 in the synthesized particles during the reaction. The results shows that the addition of Ni to nZVI particles with low Ni loading (⩽0.5 wt%) significantly enhanced dehalogenation of TBBPA and TCBPA compared to the pure nZVI, while high Ni loading (>0.5 wt%) did less favor. The observed pseudo first-order rate constant ( k obs ) of 0.5%Ni/nZVI for TBBPA and TCBPA were 3.74 (±0.29) × 10 −2 and 0.95 (±0.04) × 10 −2 min −1 , which were about 27 and 20 times higher than that of nZVI, respectively, probably due to the formation of highly activated hydrogen atom (H * ) and galvanic cells. Ni/nZVI with lower Ni loading (<0.5 wt%) resulted in partial dehalogenation of TBBPA and TCBPA, while with higher Ni loading (⩾0.5 wt%) curtailed the accumulation of intermediates and completely transformed them to bisphenol A (BPA). A dramatic decrease in oxidation–reduction potential (ORP) values from about +300 to −750 mV after Ni/nZVI addition indicates that Ni/nZVI is an effective material to achieve highly reducing conditions. Near infrared (NIR) emitters have attracted much attention due to their advanced application in biomedical sensing/imaging, and telecommunications. However, the development of efficient NIR thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters with the emission over 750 nm is still a challenge. Herein two Y-shaped NIR TADF molecules (Py-TPA and Py-CN-TPA) were introduced. The inclusion of pyridine unit in these two emitters not only extended the conjugated system but also increased the molecular aspect ratios, thereby leading to their high horizontal ratio of emitting dipole orientation (Θ //). In addition, the NIR emitter showed a low Huang-Rhys (HR) factor in thin film relative to that in solution, indicating a low non-radiative transition rate and a high photoluminescent quantum yield (PLQY). The combined anammox (anaerobic ammonium oxidation) and autotrophic desulfurization–denitrification (AADD) process represents a promising innovative technology for biological nitrogen and sulfur removal. In this study, an up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor, which was started with anammox and methanogenic granules, was operated for 245 days to evaluate the co-treatment of wastewater containing nitrogen and sulfur. The reactor demonstrated good performance in terms of nitrogen and sulfide removal and exhibited excellent behavior for removal of NH 4 + -N, NO 2 − -N and S 2− -S exceeding 252, 333 and 330 mg L −1 , respectively. The highest nitrogen removal rate and sulfide removal rate attained were 4.00 kgN m −3 d −1 and 2.39 kgS m −3 d −1 , respectively, which were also the highest reported values for a coupling-system. The influent NH 4 + -N:S 2− -S and NO 2 − -N:S 2− -S ratios set at 1.74 and 2.20–2.27 are suitable for maintaining system stability. The specific activities of anammox and autotrophic desulfurization–denitrification (SAA and SADD), extracellular polymeric substance (EPS), heme c (an important cofactor of some anammox bacterial enzymes) and the diversity of anammox and autotrophic desulfurization–denitrification (ADD) bacteria were investigated during the operation. The SAA and SADD are regarded as key factors for high efficiency. The granules contained many EPS (128.4–204.5 mg g −1 VSS) and minor heme c content (1.17 μmol g −1 VSS). The dominant bacteria belonged to members of Brocadiaceae and Hydrogenophilaceae , a majority of which were anammox bacteria and ADD bacteria, respectively. • An evaluation regime on cavity design for electrode materials is proposed. • This regime is based on geometry/mechanics criteria, independent of composition. • Geometry criterion concerns whether there is enough room for potassiation. • Mechanics criterion concerns whether structure can restore after depotassiation. Structural stability of electrode material is probably the first and foremost requirement for realization of reversible potassium-ion storage in long-lasting battery applications. In this respect, careful cavity design is much needed because it not only establishes interconnected channels for ion transfer and reservoirs for electrolyte to buffer sudden changes in ion concentration, but also contributes a lot to stabilization of electrode structure. In this work, therefore, we tried to provide important insights on cavity design using multiple spherical structures as paradigms. After electrochemical characterization, a quantitative evaluation regime was proposed. This regime was mainly based on geometry and mechanics considerations. As for geometry criterion, surface expansion ratio ζ could be estimated by using r / R = [2−(1 + ζ)3/2]1/3, with r and R denoting yolk and shell radii, respectively. In terms of mechanics criterion, ζ could also be calculated by integrating ε e = σ e / Y with ζ = [2−(1 − ε e)3]2/3 − 1, wherein ε e , σ e and Y denoted maximum elastic strain, maximum elastic stress and Young's modulus, respectively. The ζ values deduced from both geometry and mechanics criteria ought to be in good consistency, so as to maintain structural integrity. Accordingly, this evaluation regime could be generalized to establish structure–activity relationship in electrode design and would provide a broad vision in understanding implications of cavity design for potassium-ion storage. • We report a universal strategy to realize HLSR by structuring F-MNBT. • Cassie-Baxter model is still applying to the F-MNBT surfaces for hot liquid. • F-MNBT can greatly enhanced the anti-scalding ability on fabric. • We develop a F-MNBT coating to demonstrate excellence anti-scaling ability. Durably and fully repel hot liquid (representative by water and oil) is difficult to achieve because of the high-flux evaporation–condensation behavior, which caused a lot of trouble in life and production, such as scalding and scaling. In this work, we report a universal strategy to realize hot liquid super-repellency (HLSR) on various solid surfaces by structuring fluorine-modified micro-nano binary topography (F-MNBT). Cassie-Baxter model is still applying to the F-MNBT surfaces even it contacting to 95℃ water, that because nanostructures (with size below 50 nm) design provides hot liquid repellency and microcavities (with size of over 10 μm) design remains in their non-wetting state. Through this strategy, we demonstrate the unique advantage of the HLSR on various cloths for anti-scalding. In addition, we also develop a F-MNBT composite coating that can durably sustain HLSR after enduring various representative mechanical, thermal and chemical stresses, that can continuously perform self-cleaning and anti-scaling at high temperatures. Iron-based phosphates as a low cost and high structural stability cathode materials for sodium ion batteries (SIBs) have been widely studied. However, the working potential basing on Fe3+/Fe2+ redox is very low (less than 3.05 V vs. Na/Na+), which has obviously affect on the energy/power density. In this work, we choose the non-precious metal manganese (Mn) to improve the working potential of Na 3 Fe 2 (PO 4)(P 2 O 7) (NFFPP). A series of mixed-phosphate Na 3 Fe 2-x Mn x (PO 4)(P 2 O 7) (x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0) compounds are firstly proposed as cathode materials for SIBs. After optimization, the as-prepared Na 3 FeMn(PO 4)(P 2 O 7) (NFMPP) could deliver a higher average working potential of 3.27 V (vs. Na/Na+) with a theoretical capacity of 120 mAh g−1. Furthermore, the carbon coating NFMPP cathode shows a reversible initial specific capacity of 105 mAh g−1 at 0.1C with a corresponding coulombic efficiency of 99%. The in-situ XRD and ex-situ XPS results indicate that this cathode material goes through the reversible redox Fe3+/Fe2+ and Mn3+/Mn2+ with a reversible two Na-ion insertion/deinsertion process. • The latest progresses in the application of zeolite-based composites are summarized. • Pollutant adsorption and photocatalysis by zeolite-based photocatalysts are analyzed. • The effects of the characteristics of the zeolite-based composites are discussed. • The perspectives for the research of the zeolite-based composites are presented. Aluminosilicate zeolites have been found to be effective supports of semiconductor photocatalysts for the removal of organic compounds in wastewater and air. In this review, we summarize the progress in the application of zeolite materials such as Y, ZSM-5, mordenite, beta and clinoptilolite for improving the performance of semiconductor photocatalysts in degradation of environmental pollutants. The main synthesis strategies and the mechanisms of organic compounds adsorption and photocatalysis by zeolite-based photocatalysts are explicated in detail. Meanwhile, various types of zeolite-based photocatalytic composites are also thoroughly summarized. The more reliable zeolite-based photocatalysts with high photocatalytic activity under visible or sunlight irradiation should be extensively investigated. Additionally, we highlight the advancements for improving performance of different zeolite-based composites in photocatalytic degradation organic contaminants in wastewater and air. The achieved progress demonstrates that the photocatalytic enhancement of zeolite-based composites is predominantly dependent on the enhanced adsorption performance, as well as the high separation and transfer efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers. Hence, the characteristics of the zeolite-based composites (surface area, pHpzc value, hydrophobic, band gap and band edge), the nature of organic contaminants and other experiment factors need to be taken into account in applying to photodegradation process involving this catalyst. [Display omitted] • A new adsorbent was synthesized by modifying Zr-MOF with Ni 0.6 Fe 2.4 O 4 and PEI. • The adsorbent showed sufficiently magnetic strength, good thermal and acid-base stability. • The theoretical adsorption capacities of Pb(II) and Cr(IV) were 273.2 mg/g at pH 4.0 and 428.6 mg/g at pH 3.0. • The adsorbent was renewable and selective. A novel magnetic Zr-MOF named Ni 0.6 Fe 2.4 O 4 -UiO-66-PEI was synthesized by modifying UiO-66-NH 2 with Ni 0.6 Fe 2.4 O 4 and polyethyleneimine and its sorption characteristics for two representing heavy metals Pb(II) and Cr(VI) in water were examined. This material showed good thermal stability and was sufficiently magnetic to allow effective solid-liquid separation. The material had a maximum adsorption capacity of 273.2 mg/g for Pb(II) at pH 4.0 and 428.6 mg/g for Cr(VI) at pH 3.0, as obtained from the model fitting by the Hill equation. The sorption kinetics for both heavy metals on the material was fast, with adsorption equilibrium established in 60 min and 30 min for Pb(II) and Cr(VI), respectively. Model fitting of the kinetic data showed that Pb(II) and Cr(VI) sorption on Ni 0.6 Fe 2.4 O 4 -UiO-66-PEI followed the pseudo-second-order model. This material had good selectivity for competing ions, and still hold fairly good binding capacities after 5 times of regeneration. Adsorption mechanisms for Pb(II) and Cr(VI) by Ni 0.6 Fe 2.4 O 4 -UiO-66-PEI were proposed by analyzing FTIR, XPS and the electrokinetic property of the material. Specifically, Pb(II) adsorption on Ni 0.6 Fe 2.4 O 4 -UiO-66-PEI could be attributed to chelation of Pb(II) with the imine/amine functional groups in the material's matrix, while Cr(VI) adsorption might stem from a combination of electrostatic attraction, chelation and redox reaction. • Ultrasmall platinum nanoparticles are prepared as multienzyme mimetics. • Pt nanozymes exhibit preferential kidneys enrichment and rapid clearance from the body. • Pt nanozymes facilitate effective removal of a variety of RONS. • Pt nanozymes promise PA/CT dual-modal imaging guided treatment of AKI. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common kidney disease with high mortality rate, while surprisingly, the supportive treatment and renal replacement are the only available clinical treatment options to date. The onset of AKI is often triggered by excessive toxic reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), and hence, the development of antioxidants with high renal accumulation and effective renal clearance is highly demanded to consume RONS in the kidneys. In this study, we developed ultrasmall polyvinylpyrrolidone-coated platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs-PVP, ~3 nm) as multienzyme mimetics (catalase, peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase). Thanks to their excellent RONS scavenging ability, Pt NPs-PVP effectively reduced the hydrogen peroxide induced cellular damage. Analytical (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) as well as imaging (photoacoustic and computed tomography) techniques revealed the preferential renal uptake and high enrichment of ultrasmall Pt NPs-PVP after intravenous administration, offering remarkable relief of the clinical symptoms of glycerol-induced AKI mice without any apparent systemic toxicity in vivo. Importantly, because of their ultrasmall size, Pt NPs-PVP exhibited rapid excretion from healthy mice, presenting relatively low toxicity and side effects. • The study focuses on a novel matrix material for loading phase change material. • Anodizing surface treatment is applied to preparing nano-porous TS-AS. • Nano-porous TS-AS can improve thermal conductivity and stability of composite PCM. • TS-AS/1-TD composite behaves excellent sustainability to guarantee long-term service. In this study, an innovative matrix material has been designed and prepared for supporting phase change materials (PCMs) to optimize the thermal property of composite PCM. The abandoned thin-slice aluminum substrate (TS-AS) is etched electrochemically into porous layer with peak-valley structure via anodizing surface treatment, nano-porous Al 2 O 3 film growing on the TS-AS surface is used to encapsulate 1-tetrapropanol (1-TD) to prepare nano-porous TS-AS/1-TD composite PCM. According to thermal properties test results, the melting temperature and phase change latent heat (PCHL) of TS-AS/1-TD composite are 36.9 °C and 97.4 J/g, and its thermal conductivity is enhanced by 560.0% compared to pure 1-TD by introducing porous TS-AS, both these thermal properties show excellent sustainability maintaining only ±1.4% variation even after 400 times melting/freezing thermal cycles, while the composite PCM performs good thermal stability beyond 144.7 °C, which enables them to behave as thermal energy absorbing materials applied to cooling the generated heat from running precision device. • SCR effectively active site and non-selective oxidation site are coexisting on Mn-Co catalysts. • Co 3 O 4 acted as non-selective site has positive influences for the "fast SCR" and activation of NH 3. • Co 3 O 4 phase also has negative influences, which can add N 2 O and NO 2 by O 2 oxidation. • Both oxidation of NH 3 by O 2 and the redox reaction of NH 3 with NO x can produce N 2 O. In order to explore the generation of NO 2 and N 2 O on the Mn-Co catalysts in the NH 3 -SCR process, Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PEG) and Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PA) catalysts, prepared by two different complexing agents, i.e., polyethylene glycol (PEG) and urea as double complexing agents, and ammonia (PA), were further investigated by NO + O 2 and NH 3 + O 2 experiments, besides NH 3 -SCR test. Catalytic activity and physicochemical properties of the catalysts were compared and analyzed through NH 3 -TPD, O 2 -TPD, H 2 -TPR, XRD, Raman and XPS. The NH 3 -SCR results show that the Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PEG) exhibits higher NO conversion than Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PA) due to larger amount of lattice oxygen accompanied with more Con+, and surface adsorbed oxygen species, as well as the improvement of surface acidity, proved by O 2 -TPD, XPS and NH 3 -TPD, respectively. Furthermore, the separate oxidation experiments show that Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PEG) effectively exhibits the oxidation of NH 3 to N 2 O and also the oxidation of NO to NO 2 by O 2 respectively, which can influence the catalytic performance. The XRD, XPS and Raman characterization results indicate that Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PEG) contains more Co 3 O 4 than Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PA), that can produce non-selective pure oxidation reaction by the NO + O 2 and NH 3 + O 2 experiments of Co 3 O 4 phase. Information from in situ infrared experiments is that the strongly adsorbed NH 3 species on the Mn 2 Co 1 O x (PEG) is susceptible to deep dehydrogenation and react with NO x to produce N 2 O in the presence of O 2. Meanwhile, the oxidation site (Co 3 O 4) can also oxidize NO to more NO 2 , thereby improving the "fast SCR" reaction.
