In view of the excellent stability, ultra-high specific surface area, and structural versatility, porous aromatic frameworks (PAFs) have shown promising potential in gaseous iodine adsorption. Herein, PAF-1 and PAF-5 were synthesized with high specific surface areas. Amino groups as effective binding sites were introduced to these frameworks through post-modification, which facilitated a shift from simple physical adsorption of iodine vapor to a more robust chemical adsorption process. Meanwhile, PAF-6 was synthesized from nitrogen-rich monomers to demonstrate the role of N-binding site in iodine adsorption. PAF-6 exhibited the highest iodine adsorption capacity, verifying the critical role of N-adsorption active sites. The in situ synthesis of nitrogen-rich porous material show advantages over post-modification in creating effective iodine adsorbents. An intercalation compound of molybdenum oxide with pyridine and water (Mo 8 O 24 )·(py)·2H 2 O( 1 ) was synthesized hydrothermally and its structure and component were determined by element analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The electrochemistry property and photocatalytic property were studied. The single-crystal structural analysis indicates that the molybdenum oxide has stair-like layer structure and the pyridine and water molecules intercalated in between the layers. Abstract: Two new mixed-ligands Cu(II) complexes, [Cu(hfipbb)(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)2]n (1) and [Cu2(hfipbb)2-(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)]n (2) (H2hfipbb=4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)bis(benzoic acid)), were prepared, which both show different 2D networks and the antiferromagnetic interactions between the adjacent Cu(II) ions as well as photocatalytic degradation activity for dye degradation. Abstract: A unique pentacopper(II) cluster-based 3-D coordination framework, [Cu5(nip)4(μ 3-OH)2-(dps)2(H2O)4] n , has been prepared by hydrothermal reaction of Cu(II) with 5-nitroisophthalic acid (H2nip) and 4,4′-dipyridylsulfide ligands (dps), which exhibits a 6-connected pcu net and coexistence of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic couplings. Herein, we utilized a bi-connected TDC ligands as bridging ligand to successfully build one new type of pillared-layer MOF, namely as Zn 3 (TDC) 4 ·2DMA, in which the TDC ligands act as bridging group both in and between Zn 3 (TDC) 2 layer. The existence of appropriate one-dimensional channel in this pillared-layer framework thereby give rise to the adsorption capacity for various hydrocarbon gas molecules and Fe3+ ion selective fluorescence detection. Abstract: A novel fluorinated metal-organic framework, namely [Zn3(Int)2F4]·CH3OH·H2O (1) (Int = isonicotinate), has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions, and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, solid state fluorescent spectra, thermogravimetry analysis and gas adsorption studies. Abstract: The first transition–metal coordination polymer {[Cd2L2(H2O)2]·2H2O} n (1) based on a new 1,2,4-triazole derivatives H2L (H2L=3-(pyrid-2-yl)-5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-1,2,4-triazole) is presented, which not only exhibits an example assembled from 1D [Cd1L] chains to 3D (3,4)-connected network linked through [Cd2(trz)]2 dimeric units, but also shows high thermal stability and strong photoluminescence at room temperature. Abstract: A novel (CH3OH)(H2O)5 binary cluster is trapped in a photoluminescent silver(I) coordination polymeric host, [Ag2(bpp)2(H2O)(ssa)·4H2O·CH3OH]n (1, bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, H2ssa=5-sulfosalicylic acid). The heterohexamer can be viewed as either a D 5 water pentamer with a dangling methanol molecule or a combination of D 4 tetrameric water and methanol–water heterodimer. This well-resolved heterohexamer may behave as a useful model helping us to further understand phase behavior of binary methanol–water system. The luminescent behavior of 1 was also discussed. Abstract: The μ 5-dpstc4−anions (H4dpstc=3,3′,4,4′-diphenylsulfonetetracarboxylic dianhydride) link CdII centers to generate a 2D bilayer with two kinds of channels, further, 2-dpe pillars (2-dpe= trans-1,2-di(2-pyridyl)ethylene) extend such 2D bilayer into a novel (3,4,5)-connected trinodal network [Cd2(dpstc)(2-dpe)(H2O)3]n, which features unattached self-penetrating prototype and three types of channels in one direction. Abstract: Three heterometallic coordination polymers have been prepared by reacting tripodal metalloligand AlL3 (L=3-(4-pyridyl)acetylacetonate) with MCl2 (M=ZnII, CdII and HgII). The coordination preferences of the metal ions are found to have pronounced effects on the structural topologies. X-ray crystal structural analyses reveal that the complexes display three different kinds of structures. Complex 1 has a distorted ladder-like one-dimensional structure; 2 is a 2D layered structure consisting of rectangular moieties; 3 adopts a helical arrangement. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: An unprecedented 2D coordination polymer with unique (3,4)-connected self-catenated topology, arising from the parallel interlocking of 1D loop chains via shared binuclear subunits, were prepared from CdII, 5-nitroisophthalic acid and 4,4′-dipyridylamine. The thermal stability and photoluminescence property as well as the photocatalytic performance of 1 were also examined, and the results indicated that 1 shows photocatalytic activity for dye degradation under UV light. Abstract: Three CdII coordination polymers merging two types of flexible ligands, phenylenediacetate isomers (o/m/p-pda=1,2/1,3/1,4-phenylenediacetate) and 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene (bix), have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized. [Cd(o-pda)(bix)]n (1) and [Cd(m-pda)(bix)0.5(H2O)]n (2) have 2D coordination networks containing hetero-helical subunits, in which 1 features a (3,5)-connected (42.6)(42.67.8) topology, but 2 shows a (3,4)-connected V2O5-type net with (42·6)(42·63·8) topology. Different from 1 and 2, [Cd(p-pda)(bix)]n (3) displays a 5-fold interpenetrating dia framework, indicating structure-directing effect of the positions of acetate groups in pda. Abstract: Three novel coordination polymers{[CdL 2(HL)(H2O)]·(H2O)} n ( 1 ), [Zn2(OH)L 3] n ( 2 ) and [CoL 2(H2O)] n ( 3 ) have been hydrothermally synthesized from M(NO3)2·nH2O (MII =CdII, ZnII and CoII) and an unsymmetrical tecton 3-(pyridin-4-yl) benzoic acid (HL). Abstract: A new CdII-coordination polymer, namely, [Cd3(nbtc)2·4H2O] n (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized with in situ generated 5-nitrobenzene-1,2,3-tricarboxylate (nbtc3−) ligand. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that compound 1 is constructed from trinuclear CdII clusters and exhibits a previously unknown 2D (3,4,9)-connected (3.42)(32.43.5)(36.411.510.68.8) topology as well as 3D H-bonding pillared architecture. Abstract: In flexible co-ligand system, the P-handed [Cd(bpb)] n and the M-handed [Cd(pda)] n helical chains interweave mutually into a novel 3D coordination framework with diamondoid skeleton, namely, {[Cd(1,4-pda)(bpb)(H2O)]·H2O} n (1) [bpb=1,4-bi(4-pyridyl)butane , 1,4-H2pda=1,4-phenylenediacetic acid ]. Interestingly, 1D hydrophilic tunnel of 1 acts as a template for the formation of the P-handed 1D helical water chains, displaying molecular recognition and chirality transfer. Abstract: Two novel lead(II) complexes with bridging Schiff-base ligands, [Pb(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)(NO3)]2(bipd)(NO3)2 (1) and [Pb(Hpcih)]2(NO3)2(H2O) (2) (2,2′-bipy=2,2′-bipyridine, bipd=1,4-bis(3-pyridyl)-2,3-diazo-1,3-butadiene, Hpcih=2-pyridinecarbaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone) have been synthesized by solvothermal method and structurally characterized. The coordination number of Pb2+ ion in both complexes is four with the stereo-chemically active lone pair, resulting in the hemidirected geometry. The Pb2+ ions complete their coordination spheres by so-called secondary bonds to O and N atoms with the holodirected geometry (PbN3O6 for 1 and PbN4O5 for 2), and produce two different extended structures, namely a pseudo 1-D zigzag chain in 1 and a pseudo 3-D network in 2. A new dizinc(II) complex with 6,20-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-3,6,9,17,20,23-hexaaza-tricyclo [23,3,1,111,15]-triaconta-1(29),11(30),12,14,25,27-hexaene (L) was synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of [Zn2H−2L](ClO4)2 has indicated that both Zn2+ ions are in penta-coordination environment with distorted trigonal bipyramid consisting of three N atoms from diethylenetriamine moieties, one internal O atom of the hydroxyethyl pendant, one intermolar O atom from another hydroxyethyl pendant, and the separation of Zn⋯Zn is 3.05 A˚. The two aromatic rings are parallel to each other, with the centroid–centroid distance 9.21 A˚. ES–MS spectra showed the main species of [Zn2H−2L]2+, [Zn2H−2L(H2O)2]2+, and [Zn2H−2L(ClO4)]+. The hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenyl acetate catalyzed by [Zn2H−2L]2+ in 10% (v/v) CH3CN at 25 °C, with I=0.10 (NaNO3) and pH 9.0, has shown a second-order rate constant of 0.021 M−1s−1. The neutral three-dimensional cyano-bridged bimetallic coordination polymer, {[Cu(en)2][Cu(en)][Mo(CN)8]}n·4nH2O (en=ethylenediamine), has been synthesized and characterized. X-ray study shows that the asymmetric unit of the three-dimensional Cu(II)–Mo(IV) polymeric assembly consists of two half [Cu(en)2]2+ cations, a [Cu(en)]2+ cation and a [Mo(CN)8]4− ion, together with four water molecules. The latter Cu site is coordinated by two N atoms from an en ligand and by three cyanides in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. The Cu(II) ions of the two [Cu(en)2]2+ cations on the centers of inversion reside in an elongated octahedral geometry, and one of the [Cu(en)2]2+ cations is encapsulated in a ‘box’ formed by two pairs of co-lateral Cu2Mo2(CN)4 12-membered macrocyclic units. The Mo(VI) atom is coordinated by eight cyanides in an irregular square antiprism. Abstract: A new Mn(II) compound, namely [Mn3(OABDC)2(H2O)4]n (1 H3OABDC=5-oxyacetateisophthalic acid), has been synthesized through combination of H3OABDC and MnCl2 under solvothermal conditions. A single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that 1 is a complicated three-dimensional (3D) framework based on trinuclear [Mn3(COO)4] subunits, which can be simplified into a (3, 6)-connected ant network. Abstract A novel Cu(I)-cluster based coordination compound formulated as {(Cu 2 I 2) 2 [Cu 6 (dmpymt) 6 ]} n (Hdmpymt = 4,6-dimethylpyrimidine-2-thione) was synthesized under solvo-thermal condition and characterized by single-crystal X ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is an infinite 3D structure composed of Cu 2 I 2 and Cu 6 S 6 binary Cu(I) clusters with 66 topology, and displays high thermal stability and good solvent stability. Fluorescence experiments illustrate that compound 1 displays apparently red luminescence emission and selectively turn-off fluorescence response for CrO 4 2− and Cr 2 O 7 2− in water, showing potential luminescent probes for detecting Cr(VI) ions. The core-shell heterostructures of [(CH 3 ) 2 NH 2 ][Mn(HCOO) 3 ]@ [(CH 3 ) 2 NH 2 ][Co(HCOO) 3 ] and [(CH 3 ) 2 NH 2 ][Mn(HCOO) 3 ]@[(CH 3 ) 2 NH 2 ][Ni(HCOO) 3 ] were prepared via epitaxial growth. The obtained heterostructural crystals were characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis, and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) elemental mappings. Investigation on the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the heterostructural crystals with different mole ratio of the core to shell indicates that the plot of DSC peak area versus mole ratio of core to shell exhibits a linear relationship. New 2D perovskites contain special 2D layers formed by the mix of corner- and edge- shared with [PbX 6 ] octahedrons, and display the broadband yellow-light emissions covering the whole visible region. Herein, we reported two new 2D perovskites of [DAPMA] 2 Pb 3 X 12 ·2H 2 O (X = Cl (1), Br (2), DAPMA = N,N-Bis(3-aminopropyl)methylamine) containing special 2D [Pb 3 X 12 ]6− layers formed by mixed corner- and edge-shared [PbX 6 ] octahedrons. Both compounds 1 and 2 exhibit broadband yellow light emissions with promising photoluminescence quantum yields of 4.84% and 3.02%, respectively. According to detailed spectroscopy characterizations, the broadband light emissions should originate from self-trapped excitons (STEs). In addition, these 2D perovskites can be fabricated as white LEDs with highest color rendering index of 96.3%. Reaction of Ni II acetate and 4-methylphthalic acid (H 2 mph) with 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpa) or 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene (bpe) affords two 3-D unusual metal–organic frameworks {[Ni(Hmph) 2 (bpa)(H 2 O) 2 ][Ni 2 (mph) 2 (bpa) 3 ]} n ( 1 ) and [Ni 2 (mph) 2 (bpe) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ] n ( 2 ). 1 represents a polythreaded supramolecular architecture consisting of distinct 1-D armed chains and 2-D sql sheets based on the binuclear [Ni 2 (mph) 2 ] units, however, 2 shows a rare 3-fold interpenetrating 10 3 -ths network. Abstract: A series of 2D Ln-organic coordination frameworks (Ln=Sm3+ for 1, Eu3+ for 2, Tb3+ for 3, and Ho3+ for 4) with (4,6)-connected (44.52)(44.5.6)(44.54.66.7) topology has been constructed, in which 1D zigzag chains and 2D (4,4) networks intertwine mutually into the unusual 1D and 2D mixed self-weaving patterns. Interestingly, due to the lanthanide contraction effect, the 9-coordinated geometries of the Ln(III) ions gradually transform from triangle tetrakaidecahedron (Sm3+ and Eu3+), to a three-capped triangle prism (Eu3+ and Tb3+), and then to a single-capped anti-square prism (Ho3+). Abstract: A well-resolved 2D supramolecular water layer, which self-assembled by (H2O)40 water morphology templating via tartrate dianion, has been observed in the compound [Cu2(tar)(2,2′-bipy)4]tar·12H2O(1) [tar=tartrate dianion]. Abstract: A 3D CoII metal-organic framework, {[Co4(Hbpbc)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)4]·3H2O} n (1), based on a new penta-carboxylate(H5bpbc=biphenyl-2,4,6,3′,5′-pentacarboxylic acid) and 4,4′-bipyridine is presented. In 1, each μ 7-Hbpbc4− anion links five [Co2] SBUs to generate a 3D 5-connected noy net. A series of BiYO 3 and rare earth doped BiYO 3 nanotubes have been fabricated through a simple and economical electrospinning technique with subsequent calcination for the first time. The average diameter of the nanotube was approximately 200 nm. It is found that the Nd-doped BiYO 3 nanotubes exhibit an excellent multi-functionality of catalytic and visible-light-driven photocatalytic activities, thus the reduction of 4-Nitrophenol and degradation of Congo red can be rapidly achieved. The enhanced activity was attributed to the one-dimensional tube-like architecture, relatively appropriate band gap and Nd doping, which could be favorable for light harvesting, matter diffusion, and carrier transfer. Abstract Two new 3D isostructural MOFs, [M(ddbp) 0.5 (4,4′-biby) 0.5 (H 2 O) 2 ](M = Co/Ni, H 4 ddbp = 1, 3-di (3′,5′-dicarboxylphenyl)benzene, 4,4′-biby = 4,4-bipyridine) with four-fold poly-rotaxane-like networks, have been successfully synthesized and characterized. The hydrogen evolution reaction of two complexes has also been investigated. Notably, Co-MOF has better HER performance with a smaller overpotential of 357 mV at 10 mA·cm−2, lower Tafel slope of 107 mV·dec−1. As one of the most important biomarkers of anthrax, accurate and sensitive detection of 2,6-dipicolinic acid (DPA) is essential to protect against anthrax disease or biological terrorist attack. This work presented seven MOFs of two different structures based on the same ligand H 3 BTB: five single Ln-MOFs [Ln(BTB)(DMF)] (Ln = Y3+ (1), Eu3+ (2) and Tb3+ (3)) and [Ln(BTB)(H 2 O)] (Ln = Eu3+ (5), Tb3+ (6)), and two optimized hetero Eu/Tb-MOFs [Tb 0.9 Eu 0.1 (BTB)(DMF)] (4) and [Tb 0.9 Eu 0.1 (BTB)(H 2 O)] (7). This work aimed at the crystal structures and energy transfer processes regulation of the fluorescence properties and detecting DPA. These two hetero Eu/Tb-MOFs 4 and 7 exhibit different energy transfer efficiency from Tb3+ to Eu3+ (4 : 15.23%; 7 : 96.86%), and the above energy transfer process could be influenced by DPA. Radiometric fluorescence detection of DPA was first studied in contrast by modulating the structure and energy transfer process in hetero Eu/Tb-MOFs. The detection limits of 4 and 7 for DPA were 0.078 μM (4) and 0.24 μM (7). In addition, 13 interferents did not affect the DPA detection. Polyhedral, spherical, fragmented In 2 O 3 particles have been prepared via a thermal decomposition by calcining In-MOFs at appropriate temperature and their gas sensing behavior was investigated. The response of the In 2 O 3 -500 is 81.5 for 50 ppm formaldehyde vapor at 210 °C, which exceed the response values of all of the reported In 2 O 3 materials. The In 2 O 3 -500 sensor also shown long-term stability (at least 15 days), low detection limit of 10 ppm and excellent reproducibility. Two isostructural Ln-MOFs, [H 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 ][Ln(cppa) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] (Ln = Tb/Eu CTGU-1Tb /- 1Eu , H 2 cppa = 5-(4-carboxyphenyl)picolinic acid), were selected to investigate the effects of the different metal centre on the sensing properties. A unique 3D entangling Cu(II)-metal organic framework, namely, {[Cu 4 (abtc) 2 (btab) 6 ·3H 2 O]·2H 2 O} n ( 1 ), has been successfully constructed from Cu II and 3,3′,5,5′-azo benzene tetracarboxylate building units with the aid of N-donor bridging spacers [1,4-bis(triazol)butane], and directs a rare self-penetrating structure with polyhelix motifs and presents a new (4,4,8)-connected (4.6 5 ) 2 (6 4 .7.8) 2 (4 2 .6 20 .7 2 .8 4 ) topology. Herein, for the first time, a novel Ni-MOF/nickel disulfide heterojunction composite (Ni-BTC/NiS 2) has been constructed successfully via in situ self-assembly strategy, which exhibits excellent MOR activity and durability with an area specific peak current density of 34.36 mA cm−2. The enhanced electrocatalytic performance of the composite might be attributed to the synergistic/interface effect derived from the heterojunction structure. A rare Ni-ferromagnet [Ni(pdc)(bib)]·2H 2 O (H 2 pdc = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid, bib = 1,4-bis (imidazol-l-yl)butane) has been prepared, which possesses a 3D supramolecular network based on (3,5)-connected helical-armed 2D layers. A first transition–metal coordination polymer [CuH 2 L(H 2 O)] n ( 1 ) based on a new mixed N-/O-donors 5-[2-carboxy-3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-phenoxy]-isophthalic acid (H 4 L), which exhibits a 2D 3-connected polymeric network, has been presented and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR and TGA. Through hydrothermal reactions, 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) co-ligands firstly was introduce to CdII-H2FDC system (H2FDC=9-fluorenone-2,7-dicarboxylic acid), generating a new coordination polymer {[Cd2(FDC)2(bpy)]∙H2O}n (1). Compound 1 has a pillar-layer 2-fold interpenetrating pcu network, based on the square-grid tetranuclear [Cd4(COO)8] units. Abstract: A novel 2D cobalt(II) coordination polymer comprising left- and right-handed helical chains, {[H2bpp][Co2(bpp)2(Hbtec)2(H2O)4]·(H2O)5}n (1) (bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)-propane and H4btec=1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate), was prepared under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. Complex 1 provides suitable hydrophilic channel in which lattice water molecules accumulate, forming a (H2O)5 helicate, stabilized by anchoring to the host structure through hydrogen-bonding interactions involving alternating water molecules and the carboxylate oxygen atoms of Hbtec3− ligands. Abstract: A mixed-ligand Ag(I) coordination polymer {[Ag2(bpe)2(H2O)2](chd)·5H2O}n (1) (bpe=4,4′-bipyridylethylene, H2chd=1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Complex 1 exhibits a three-dimensional (3-D) supramolecular sandwich architecture that is composed of cationic chains of Ag(I) ions and bpe ligands, alternating with anionic sheets in which uncoordinated chd2− anions and water molecules form a 2-D hydrogen-bonded network. An odd-numbered (H2O)7 cluster is trapped inside the water-chd aggregation. The discrete water heptamer consists of a puckered pentameric core and two pendent water molecules and structurally shows similarity to the simple hydrocarbon (1,1)-dimethylcyclopentane.
