Abstract

The kinetic stability of pentacyclo[4.3.0.0(super 2,9).0(super 3,8).0(super 7,9)]-non-4-ene is investigated and some of its decay products are described. 3,3-dibromotricyclo[3.2.2.0(super 2,4)]nona-6,8-diene, the precursor of carbenoid tricyclo[3.2.2.0.(super 2,4)]nona-6,8-dien-3-ylidene, is reported and shown to undergo a formal dimerization to give 3,3'-bi(tricyclo[3.2.2.0(super 2,4)]nona-6,8-diene-3-ylidene).

Abstract

A systematic study is conducted to determine the mechanism of ESI ionization of alkenyl and alkynyl group 6 Fischer carbene complexes. The results demonstrate that in the ESI source an anion-radical is formed after the initial hydroquinone (HQ)- or tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)-mediated electron transfer to the metallic carbene complex.

Abstract

Rhodium carbenoids were inserted into the alpha-C-H bonds of allylic ethers to produce 3(2H)-furanones. In addition to the expected 3(2H)-furanones, unexpected acetal products from an anomalous C-H insertion process were obtained.

Abstract

The structures of the protonated or coordinated products are examined on spectral basis and a simple route for the synthesis of pyridylazulenes is developed. It is found that the protonation or coordination of metal ions occurs on the nitrogen atom of the pyridine ring, but not on the carbon atom of azulene ring.
