Seventeen genotypes of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) were evaluated at ICAR-NRCSS, Ajmer (Rajasthan) during rabi 2014-15 and 2015-16. The highest GCV and PCV were observed for seed yield per plot followed by test weight and 5 plants seed yield. The highest genetic advance was observed for seed yield per plot followed by 5 plants seed yield and plant height. The highest heritability was estimated for 5 plants seed yield followed by plant height and number of primary branches. The genotypes were grouped into six clusters. Inter cluster distance was maximum between clusters IV and VI followed by III and VI while minimum between clusters II and IV. Whereas, the intra-cluster distance was maximum for Cluster-I. Among the eight characters studied for genetic divergence, 5 plants' seed yield contributed the maximum accounting for 46.32% of total divergence, followed by number of primary branches (16.9%) and plant height (12.5%). It was concluded that improvement of seed yield in fenugreek can possible through selection for number of pod per plant, number of seeds per pod, plant height and number of primary branches. Indian fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) varieties were biometrically studied for seed yield and yield contributing traits to assess genetic variability, character association and genetic divergence. Highly significant differences between varieties for all the studied traits were observed. Pooled results illustrated high estimates of PCV along with GCV for number of branches per plant, test weight, number of pods per plant, number of nodules per plant, plant height and seed yield per plant. High heritability along with genetic advance was recorded for plant height and test weight. Association studies showed highly significant positive correlation and high direct effect of test weight, plant height and number of pods per plant on seed yield. Diversity analysis grouped the set of 17 varieties into two clusters and there was lack of parallelism between genetic and geographic diversities. In-silico development of protein models in fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) has opened up new vistas using the modern computational tools. The identification of protein in fenugreek having homology with the protein domain of humans and E-coli shows that the database available on Apiaceae family are very low. The estimated molecular weight of identified for fenugreek AM-1 protein was 11372.8 and was predicted as basic. A channel in fenugreek transmembrane protein has been identified through which a ligand (an ion or a small molecule) might pass. A field study was conducted to evaluate the date of sowing of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) during kharif 2009 and 2010. Experiment was laid out in split-plot design by assigned dates of sowing (20 April, 15 May, 9 June and 4 July) and varieties ('HNG 10' and 'TG 37A' ) in main plots and four fertility levels (without fertilizers, 20 N + 40 P2O5, 30 N + 60 P2O5 and 40 N + 80 P2O5 kg /ha) in sub-plots. Yield components of semi-spreading variety 'HNG 10' were statistically at par with each other at different dates of sowing from 20 April to 9 June. Harvest index in both the varieties was observed significantly higher in 4 July sowing. The results of the study showed that significantly higher crop stand at harvest was observed in 9 June and 4 July sowing than all other sowing dates and variety 'TG 37A' flowered significantly earlier than 'HNG10'. Significantly higher yields were recorded in 30 kg N+60 kg P2O5 /ha which was statistically at par with 40 kg N+80 kg P2O5 /ha. In all 27 Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on fenugreek with three interventions (improved varieties, seed treatment and recommended dose of fertilizers) under National Agricultural Innovation Project (Component-2) were conducted at Farmers' fields of adopted village Bhanwata (Kuchamancity) in district Nagaur (Rajasthan) during winter season of the years 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14. On the basis of three years' overall average, it is attributed that about 26.65% higher grain yield was recorded under FLDs than that of the farmers' traditional check/ practice. The study exhibited mean extension gap of 384 kg/ha, technology gap of 675 kg/ha with mean technology index of 27.00%. An additional investment of Rs. 2100/ha coupled with recommended nutrients, water management, plant protection measures, scientific monitoring and non-monetary factors resulted in additional mean returns of Rs. 17069/ha. The study was conducted to reveal genetic variability among the released varieties of fenugreek from different regions of India using morphological and molecular markers. Seventeen varieties were evaluated for important characteristics like plant height, test weight, total weight, yield per plant, pod length, pod per plant, pod per axis, petiole length and 50% flowering. In this study, Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers were used to assess genetic diversity wherein fifteen polymorphic primers showed a 57.66% polymorphism. All the varieties were classified into two major clusters viz., cluster-I and cluster-II, cluster-I is further divided into five sub clusters containing twelve varieties namely Hisar Suvarna, Hisar Sonali, Rajendra Kranti, Hisar Mukta, Hisar Madhavi, AM-2, GM-2, AM-1, Azad Methi, CO-2, RMT-143 and RMT-351 showing genetic similarity irrespective of their geographical distribution. Cluster-II contains five varieties viz., Lam Selection, RMT-1, RMT- 305, RMT-303 and Pant Ragini. In morphological analysis few varieties did not follow the pattern of RAPD analysis indicating their phenotypic characters to be influenced by the environmental factors.
