The article presents information on certain products developed by Apple computer Inc. It reflects that the Macintosh 128K was used a speech-synthesis software, which had already distanced itself from all of its competitors in the computer market. The iMac is the company's resurrection in 1990s, which was a design break from its beigebox past. It used a blue case to its dismissal of the floppy drive. The iPod, a digital music player has had that kind of effect on the world and the original iPod was introduced in October 2001. The product that put Apple on the map was the Apple II, the popular personal computer. The Apple II introduced millions of kids to the computer age in the late 1970s and early 1980s. iTunes Music Store, a gift to the music industry is another product from the company to which the music-loving public in 21 countries has responded by purchasing more than 1 billion tracks since the store debuted in April 2003. The introduction of Mac OS X in 2001 started a huge transition for Macintosh users.

This article evaluates Dantz Development's Retrospect 6.0 backup software. The software performs full and incremental backups of local and networked Mac computers and saves data to a wide variety of storage devices. The main change in Retrospect that is likely to get non-enterprise users to upgrade is Panther compatibility. Enterprise users will appreciate Retrospect's other new features. The program now supports the Xserve redundant array of independent disks, as well as small computer systems interface and Fibre Channel tape-drive libraries. Although Retrospect 6.0 can read and restore backup sets created by previous versions, the addition of Unicode and terabyte support forced a change in the backup-set format such that users must reset existing backup sets or create new ones, an annoying requirement for companies with complex backup procedures. Unlike the Windows version of Retrospect, which can run multiple simultaneous executions, Retrospect for the Mac is still limited to a single execution at a time. Retrospect 6.0 is a fairly minor upgrade offering compatibility changes and a few new features. Users who want to run Retrospect on their Mac with Panther should upgrade to version 6.0. But for people who see no reason to upgrade their servers from Jaguar, the other changes in Retrospect 6.0 may not warrant paying for an upgrade. But large companies with significant backup needs, and people looking to move up to backup software with network and large media support, should upgrade to version 6.0. INSET: PICK YOUR MODEL.
