The entire mitochondrial genome ofGarrulax poecilorhynchusconsists of 17 814 bp and containe 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and two control regions. The nucleotide composition of the mitogenome ofG. poecilorhynchusis A = 5342 (29.99%), T = 4314 (24.22%), G = 2480 (13.92%), and C = 5678 (31.87%). The genome has an overall A + T content of 54.21%, which has a similar value among known genusGarrulaxmitogenomes. All the tRNA genes display a typical clover-leaf structure.Garrulax poecilorhynchusshare the closest relationship with other two species,G. perspicillatusandG. sannio. Garrulax sannio(Passeriformes, Timaliidae) was the medium-sized bird, whose plumage color was similar for both sexes. The complete sequence of the mitochondrial DNA genome fromG. sannioused the polymerase chain reaction method. The genome (17 840 bp in length) contained 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA (12S and 16S) genes, 22 tRNA genes and 2 control regions (D-loop). The base composition ofG. sanniomitogenome A + T percentage was 52.22%. It is slightly higher than G + C 47.78% which was similar with other vertebrates. TheFossorochromis rostratusis a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi in East Africa. In this study, we first reported the complete mitochondrial genome ofF. rostratus. The whole mitochondrial genome is 16 581 bp in length, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes. The GC content of this mitochondrial genome is 45.96% (27.47% A, 26.57%T, 30.12% C, and 15.84% G), similar toAstatotilapia calliptera(the GC content of 45.90%). We constructed a phylogenetic tree on the complete mitochondrial genomes of these two species and other 10 closely related species to show their phylogenic relationship. The complete mitochondrial genome ofF. rostratusand its phylogenic relationship with other related species would facilitate our understanding of the evolution of Cichlidae mitochondrial genome.
