This article highlights several implementations of the Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) archive, which is being implemented with different features by talented economists and programmers in many countries as varied as Sweden, Russia, Britain and the U.S. IDEAS is one of the many excellent implementations of the RePEc collection of free abstracts for more than 200,000 journal articles, working papers, books, book chapters and software. Over half of the abstracts have links to the full-text digital version. The other pick is a spectacularly well-implemented bibliometric service that delivers very informative statistics about the papers, journals, series and authors in RePEc. The pan is the American Economic Association's EconLit database, which is widely licensed by many college libraries and research centers, but is becoming increasingly less and less state of the art. This article provides information on electronic information resources on economics in the U.S. The traditional bastion of scholarly literature in economics has been EconLit, the database of the American Economics Association. It indexes six document types: journal articles, books, collective volume articles, dissertations, working papers and book reviews. It is not just an index database, but also contains abstracts and some full text. NetEc, the network for economists, began as an international academic effort to improve the communication of economics via electronic media and took full advantage of Internet technology. The scholarly literature in economics frequently involves working papers, the pre-prints of the academic economic research community. These working papers are collected in RePEc, which is a free, open access source. The largest contributors are listed at the site and include universities, publishers and governmental bodies. The National Association for Business Economics acts as a portal to the profession. Not only does it provide on its home page news of interest to economists, it also has links to useful and interesting information in the field of business economics.

This article discusses the definition of electronic discovery. Many attorneys use the term electronic discovery as a catch-all phrase for any process of reviewing documents that originated from clients' computers. They may also view it as some combination of manual review of paper documents and electronic scanning of paper images. Electronic discovery refers to the technology that keeps electronic files in electronic form from beginning to end and to the process of gathering these electronic documents from computers and preparing them for review. Effective electronic-discovery uses a process that ensures the integrity of the information and enables presentation of that information for depositions and court appearances. The process consists of retrieving, organizing, indexing and presenting the information to opposing counsel and perhaps to the court, as evidence. Documents in this context may include e-mail messages and their file attachments, memos, reports, plain text files, spreadsheets, digital art and photos, presentations and any other data that is created or stored on a computer network or other storage media. Although court cases do not reveal discovery requests for online database searches, that does not preclude an electronic-discovery request involving a database search as an attachment.

This article describes archives of interest to library and information science professionals. SAGE is a publisher of scholarly journals in the social sciences. The majority of its journals joined the High Wire Press online search and delivery platform in fall 2004, when the entire collection was free of charge until the end of October. The bibliographic citations and abstracts remain free, which is a big deal for those who cannot afford to subscribe to several social sciences abstracting/indexing databases. DLIST stands for Digital Library for Information Science and Technology. It is more like a digital shelf of open access articles, conference papers and slide presentations about Library for Information Service and Technology topics. It is a promising initiative to demonstrate and spread the idea of self-archiving in the profession.

The article examines the usefulness of EBSCO Publishing's SPORTDiscus, a full text source for sports and sports medicines journals, in online sports research. It states that SPORTDiscus has more than 520 journals and 372 of these are not found with full text in any version of Health Source, Biomedical Reference Collection or Academic Search. The database has several sources including videos, trade publications, conference paper collections and gray literature. Comments of several academic business librarians on SPORTDiscus are also provided.

An interview with Dona Scheeder of the Law Library of Congress is presented. She says the genesis of Global Legal Information Network (GLIN) came from the realization that although they wanted to collect the laws of the world, acquiring these primary and authoritative sources in paper was a slow process. ProQuest also announced the first release of Twentieth Century Drama. Wilson released its updated Humanities& Social Sciences Index Retrospective 1907-1984, which features cover to cover indexing of some 1,200 scholarly journals with 1,300,000 articles.
