This study followed the comparative research mode of description, interpretation, juxtaposition and comparison. Based on the literatures and data collected on the topic, the paper compared and analyzed the past, present and future of APTHS (academic proficiency test for high schools) in the two countries. Some contemplations on the common issues faced by many countries were also discussed. Compared with U.S., the status quo of the exam in China is more problematic resulting from its low professionalization on test assessment and measurement, and bureaucracy on the exam administration. For both countries, equity is the utmost concern in the future development and reform of the exam. (Contains 6 figures and 2 tables.) Background and Aim: At present, in the reform of higher education, the cultivation requirements for innovative people are increasing day by day. The learning results and desired characteristic behaviors of college students in ideological and moral education in many universities are not satisfactory. Student's learning attitudes and learning participation are poor and the ability of self-discipline and adaptability are generally weak. So in order to solve the problems, in this study, the blended cooperative learning instructional model was employed to improve the learning achievement and desired characteristic behaviors of college students. The objectives of this research were: 1) To compare the learning achievement of college students before and after learning through the Blended cooperative learning instructional model. 2) To compare the desired characteristic behaviors of college students after learning through the Blended cooperative learning instructional model with a criterion set at 65%. Materials and Methods: The sample used in this study was 30 year 1 student in Zhoukou Vocational and Technical College, Zhoukou City, Henan Province. They were selected by cluster random sampling. The research instruments were: 1) Six lesson plans of an Ideological and moral education course based on blended cooperative learning. 2) A learning achievement test paper. 3) A student's self-assessment 4) A teacher observation form. The researcher used the Ideological and moral education test paper to conduct pre-test and post-test on the sample. Then the pre-test data and post-test data were analyzed. The statistics used to analyze data were mean, standard deviation, t-test for dependent samples, and t-test for one sample. Results: The results of the study were as follows: 1) The learning achievement mean scores of students' protest were 16.13, S.D. = 3.25 and the posttest of students' learning achievement was M = 19.93, S.D. = 2.75. The result showed that after learning through a blended cooperative learning model in the classroom, posttest scores of students' learning achievement were greater than pretest scores at 0.05 level of statistical significance (t = 9.58, p = 0.000 < 0.05). The average scores of the study developed increasingly higher than the pretest. 2) The Self-assessment mean scores of 30 students' desired characteristic behaviors after learning through the blended cooperative learning model was 106.77 from full marks of 155 and the standard deviation was 6.20 which was statistically higher than the criterion of 65% at 0.05 level of statistical significance (t = 94.30, p = 0.000 < 0.05). The observation form mean scores of 30 students' desired characteristic behaviors after learning through blended cooperative learning model was 44.57 from full marks of 60 and the standard deviation was 4.16 which was statistically higher than the criterion of 65% at 0.05 level of statistical significance ( t= 7.33, p = 0.000 < 0.05). Conclusion: Through comparative analysis of learning achievement and desired characteristic behaviors scores before and after learning through the blended cooperative learning model in the Ideological and moral education course of first-year students in Zhoukou Vocational and Technical College, it revealed that students' learning achievement and desired characteristic behaviors have been significantly improved. Therefore, it is feasible to adopt a blended cooperative learning instruction model, which is helpful to improve the learning achievement and desired characteristic behaviors of the first-year students at Zhoukou Vocational and Technical College.

Background and Aim: China's economic and societal development, education reform, and increasing demand for quality education, independent colleges' advantages waned. Issues like "schools within schools," lack of independence, unclear property ownership, and weak internal governance arose, necessitating restructuring and new directions. Thus, this article examines Edvantage Group's response to independent college restructuring through dynamic capabilities theory, analyzing bottleneck issues, exploring measures taken for reform and development, and investigating a sustainable development path post-restructuring. Materials and Methods: Through semi-structured interviews and practical investigations, this paper analyzes the development strategy of the independent college under Edvantage Group. Results: the group's development presents a dynamic and evolutionary growth process, and dynamic ability is the key ability for the group to gain a foothold in the market and gain development advantages. Under the background of the current government's efforts to promote vocational education, the Group should incline its internal resources more to vocational colleges and technical schools. To give full play to its advantages, seize opportunities and make up for its disadvantages, it is necessary to improve the internal governance system, improve the system construction, strengthen and stabilize the teaching staff, enhance the social influence of the group, further promote the restructuring of internal resources of the group and improve the utilization efficiency. Conclusion: The transformational development challenges, private education groups need to find a distinctive, high-quality, and sustainable path to development. Dynamic capabilities are crucial, and this paper takes the case of Edvantage Group, investigating its development strategy based on dynamic capability theory.

Background and Aims: This paper aim to investigate that teachers in special education schools have poor teacher resilience, mainly in the form of psychological stress that leads to mental health problems and consequent poor teaching effectiveness. Methods: Through the quantitative approach, this paper investigates the phenomenon. Results: The results suggest that special education schools should develop a comprehensive support system for in-service teachers in their administration based on the interaction of the systems within, between, beyond, and the cross system. Conclusion: It is hoped that through the adaptation of classroom teaching methods and materials to the realities of special education, collaboration between general education teachers and special education teachers, and the establishment of a school culture that respects individual differences, the aim is to enhance the teacher resilience of teachers in special education schools.

The concept of application-oriented higher education institutions (A-HEI) in China has something in common with that of cooperative education or dual education institutions. The changes in education system have led to more challenges of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) in the present situation. Based on synergistic leadership theory and the VUCA approach, this paper synthesizes a framework of situation analysis and solution strategies. Applying this synthesized framework, together with the situational leadership theory, this paper analyzes the situation of developing China's A-HEI, including the synergistic leadership factors and the VUCA challenges, and provides essential solutions. Presidents may adapt leadership styles by applying corresponding strategies to address VUCA challenges in the present situation of China's A-HEI. This paper also offers references and implications to further research on the educational leadership in China's A-HEI.

This paper presents the current status of Google as the world-wide popular search engine and Baidu as the top ranked search engine in China. Although Google is band in China mainland since 2010, it studies the connectivity of both platforms in China. Both the platforms are providing translation services where, being an international language English has been given crown priorities. The paper uses survey among the Chinese people (n=250) to identify user's English learning aptitude according to the coding of ACTLE. The code stands on A=Accuracy, C=Clarity, T=Time, L=Location and E=Environment friendly (emphasized on culturally appropriateness). The article finds a big margin for Baidu from Google translation services in terms of the coding category of time, location and culturally appropriateness. On the other hand, Google is little bit ahead in respect of accuracy and clarity to carry English meaning through its translation services. Above all, both search engines are giving the exploring opportunities to their valued stakeholders and opening a new English learning window for latent talents.

This paper analyses the major approaches in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) vocabulary teaching from historical perspective and puts forward multi-dimensional vocabulary teaching mode for college English. The author stresses that multi-dimensional approaches of communicative vocabulary teaching, lexical phrase teaching method, the grammar translation approach as well as audio-lingual method should be adopted, tasks should be designed and context be constructed to improve learners' vocabulary acquiring competence and language competence. Based on the achievements from the educational and teaching reforms conducted in Yanshan University in recent years, and considering the problems arisen from the University's development, this paper attempts to explore and illustrate the significance of conducting the teaching-oriented study and discussions, most importantly it provides some reflections on the basic issues in subject construction. Finally, this paper firmly holds the view that strengthening the central position of teaching is of strategic importance to local universities and colleges, therefore, only through placing teaching on the center stage of leaders of various levels and center of all the university's activities, at the same time carrying out the guideline for intensifying the principal status of undergraduate education, can Yanshan University rank in well-known high level university in China.

Background and Aim: Physical activity is an important means to promote the comprehensive and healthy development of children's bodies and minds. The national health strategy and population policy adjustment, the development of kindergartens, and the deterioration of children's physical health have all worked together to bring unprecedented opportunities for the development of children's sports in China. The purpose of this paper is to study the background information of the contents of the curriculum of preschool physical education ability of year 4 students and develop the curriculum to improve the preschool physical education ability of year 4 students. Materials and Methods: The researcher has studied the literature on the development of physical education teachers' physical education ability curriculum to cultivate year 4 students' physical education ability from the aspects of the curriculum development process, components, implementation, and evaluation, and has studied the quality of students' teachers from textbooks, academic documents, and related research. The researcher also used a simple random sampling method to have 4 teachers as a sample. The population is 8 expert teachers in physical education. The research instruments of this study are an interview questionnaire on preschool's physical education ability and lesson plans. Results: Research findings: 1) The 6 components of the course include principles, objectives, content, instructional strategies using situational teaching methods, materials, and evaluation. 2) Preschool physical education ability which includes: 2.1) General ability, 2.2) Special ability, and 2.3) Application ability. After that, the researcher designed and completed the training course components of preschool physical education, and then evaluated the quality by five experts. The IOC value was between 3.80-4.00, and the interrater reliability value was between 0.77-0.79> 0.5. The course components were modified according to the experts' suggestions. Conclusion: The components of the course which include 6 components could improve the preschool physical education ability of year 4 students effectively.

In China, improving students' creativity is becoming an important goal of modern colleges and universities, especially in the domain of science and technology. The efforts made for this goal can be observed not only in classroom, but also in activities and competitions which were held out-of-school. This paper will firstly give a brief description of creativity. Then, it will point out several constraints in Chinese creativity development, and introduce the characteristics and the advantages of extracurricular activities in STI (scientific and technological innovation). Concretely, the paper will take, in case, two national competitions, studying their influences on the development of creativity and innovativeness, and discussing some main problems. Some deficiencies of Chinese out-of-school activities in students' creativity development will be summarized. In conclusion, the paper will propose some advices to Chinese higher education in this aspect.

This is a corpus-based research focusing on the high-frequency verb "keep" used by Chinese non-English majors and native speakers. The corpora involved in the paper are Brown which stands for native speakers, Students 3 and Students 4 in CLEC (Chinese Learner English Corpus) which stand for Chinese non-English majors. The paper tries to investigate the similarities and differences between them and put forward the possible reasons. At last, some suggestions of ELT (English Language Teaching) are given. In modern society, the essence of social competition is the competition of talents who are in need of education, and the education's quality can decide a nation's future and destiny. With the continuous development of China, Chinese educational system is also facing a new stage of development. Starting with analyzing the case of New Oriental School, a very popular training institution in China, this paper finds its sponsoring characteristics and the current situation of education in China by surveying and comparing some data. It is found that New Oriental School's success is the integration of Chinese and western culture. On the one hand, New Oriental School pays attention to training teachers and learning advanced teaching ideas and methods of western countries, on the other hand, its education is directed towards Chinese examination-oriented education, which results from the current situation that China has a large population and sharp competitions and the examination-oriented education can not be replaced in this moment. Chinese education can get a lot of inspirations from New Oriental School's successful experience. This paper makes a suggestion that China can benefit from the mode of New Oriental School, learning the advanced concepts and teaching methods of western countries, and doing some improvements to explore a suitable way for Chinese educational development.

Grammatical metaphor is the term used by Halliday to refer to meaning transference in grammar. Instead of the congruent realization of a norm, the metaphorical representation has become the norm in many instances. Metaphorical modes of expression are characteristic of all adult discourses (Halliday, 1994). The shift from congruent to metaphorical modes of expression is also the characteristic of written English. For foreign language learners, getting to know the features of the target language and using them in their own expressions are important. This paper examines the features of grammatical metaphor in written English and then discusses the difficulties and problems of the application of these features in teaching writing to college English learners. This paper also provides some research findings and pedagogical implications for developing awareness of grammatical metaphor in writing of Chinese college learners of English. (Contains 4 tables.)

Based on LSA's (Latent Semantic Analysis) measuring textual coherence and Halliday and Hasan's cohesive concepts and their categorization of cohesive devices, this paper analyzes coherent relatedness and cohesive devices of 100 Chinese students' English writings. The results indicate that (1) LSA is proved to be an objective and appropriate method in measuring the textual coherence, and (2) close attention should be paid to the cultivation of textual coherence, which will be of significance to the teaching of English writing. Finally, the paper provides some suggestions for college English writing. (Contains 4 tables.)

This paper has made an investigation on the current writing teaching mode among English majors in normal universities in China, by means of questionnaire, interview and class observation. The study finds out that the current writing teaching mode is not purely product approach or process approach. In fact, the two approaches to writing co-exist in today's English writing teaching, with product approach to writing enjoying a relatively dominant place. Problems are discovered of this writing teaching mode, such as students' inactive involvement in the class. Then, this paper focuses on the teachers and students to find out the reasons. At last, the author proposes MAP-CORE framework for English writing class. (Contains 4 tables.)

The Verhulst model can be used to forecast the sequence, which is characterized as non-monotone and fluctuant sequence or saturated S-form sequence. According to the situation of national enrollment scale of college, this paper forecasts the quantity of students taking entrance examination to college with a Verhulst model with remedy based on data mining theories, and by the above model, some countermeasures are developed to the higher education of Henan province in China. Weak effectiveness of bilingual education is an especially obvious phenomenon in non-key universities of China where students have poorer English ground and bilingual curriculums are unconstructive designed partly because of the scarcity of teaching resources. This paper discusses failures of these unconstructive curriculum systems from the view of cognitive learning and points out that just because of the lags in BICS [basic interpersonal communication skills] and CALP [cognitive academic language proficiency] of students in non-key universities, metacognitive process should be substantially considered and completely integrated in construction of bilingual curriculum system including aspects of bilingual allocation, subject design, bilingual arrangement and prepositive training. This paper takes International Business Specialty in non-key universities as an example and highly involves writer's teaching experiences. (Contains 1 figure.)

Based on the concept of user education, this paper discusses the necessity of user education in library under the circumstance of network, describes the contents and forms of user education and puts forward the problems that should be paid attention to during education. The paper analyzes the nature of the basic education, and points out that the scarcity, disparity and exclusiveness to a certain degree form the inner reasons of school choice in China. In review of the policy evolution of governing the school choice problems, and analyzing the policy framework of the current stage, the paper holds that expanding public expenditure is the basis of providing adequate, fair and quality compulsory education and high school education, and the role of social forces should be brought into full play so as to promote the diverse ways of delivering educational services. In reality, the significant institutional guarantee to govern the problem of school choice in China is to transform the government function and build the government more public service oriented, implement the government accountability system and build transparent public debate sphere.

Now there are 17.7 million deaf people in China, but only four universities can provide them with higher education, which is far from enough. The implementation of network-based higher education for the deaf under the background of the Internet is an effective mean and objective needs for China's to carry out of the special higher education. This paper discusses the present situation of higher education for the deaf in China and the advantages of network-based higher education for the deaf. It relates the functions and also existing problems of current network-based higher education during the process of implementation. In order to solve the problems and further promote the development of Chinese higher education for the deaf people, this paper comes up with the planning of achieving the higher education for the deaf through the internet. The implementation of this project will definitely play a positive promoting effect on the integration and sharing of the higher education resource for Chinese deaf people nationwide.

This paper reviews Chinese management research since its beginning more than thirty years ago. It then discusses the possible interplay between higher education scale and employment relationship, and suggests that it is time to take the road less traveled rather than to over-travel the more popular road. We conclude that the practice will prove the final judge on higher education reform and employment relationship, and the insights from this paper will help sharpen the understanding of the higher education challenges of China.

Based on the history and situation of the current Sino-foreign cooperation in running school, some prominent differences on the college educations between China and developed countries are discussed. The paper aims to improve the level of Sino-foreign cooperation school running, and gives some methods to promote the education quality of Chinese colleges.
