A fluorescent probe (probe 1) with selectivity and sensitivity for H 2 S and N 2 H 4 has been developed. Probe 1 exhibits dual-excitation and dual-emission fluorescence response to H 2 S and fluorescence enhancement toward N 2 H 4 with distinct naked-eye color changes. Moreover, probe 1 displayed low detection limits for H 2 S and N 2 H 4 of 0.90 nM and 23.6 nM, respectively. The reaction mechanism of probe 1 toward H 2 S and N 2 H 4 was established using 1H NMR and HR-MS spectroscopy. Additionally, probe 1 was used for monitoring and differentiating H 2 S and N 2 H 4 in HeLa cells and displays good biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity. • Probe 1 exhibits dual-emission fluorescence-enhanced detection of H 2 S in mitochondria. • Probe 1 exhibits a turn-on response for the detection of N 2 H 4 in mitochondria. • Probe 1 exhibits rapid response, good optical performance, high selectivity, and high sensitivity in solution. • Probe 1 displays multi species detection in the mitochondria of HeLa cells and zebrafish. • Detection using Probe 1 can be achieved using a smartphone with a chromaticity APP. Carboxylesterases (CEs) are widely distributed in the body and catalyze the hydrolysis of endogenous and exogenous substrates. They play important roles in drug metabolism, and abnormal levels often result in numerous diseases such as cancers. Therefore, it is important to establish a highly selective and sensitive probe for the real-time sensing of CEs activity. Herein, we synthesized a novel fluorescence-electrochemical multichannel probe 1 containing a ferrocene unit, which not only serves as part of the structure of probe 1 but also provides electrochemical signals. The probe exhibited high selectivity to CEs with a "Turn-On" fluorescence response and was applied for imaging in complicated biological samples including Staphylococcus aureus , living cells, and zebrafish. Furthermore, the hydrolysis of the acetoxy group of probe 1 by CEs decreased the electrochemical signal. All these results suggest that probe 1 can act as a multi-modal probe for real-time tracking of the activity CEs in complex biological environments. • A ferrocene-chalcone-based probe for detecting CEs by fluorescence and electrochemical signals was developed. • Probe 1 exhibited rapid response, good optical performance, high selectivity, and high sensitivity in solution. • The crystal structure of probe 1 and product 1a were determined. • Endogenous imaging-based CEs-detection in a range of S. aureus species, C6 cells, and zebrafish was achieved. Herein, a novel ternary composite material has been proposed for the electrochemical detection of carbendazim (CBZ) pesticide. Such Au nanoparticles@zeolitic imidazole framework-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x (AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x) can be obtained by using few-layer Ti 3 C 2 T x and AuNPs@ZnO as the precursors. The original synthetic route leads to the distinguished morphology of AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x , which exhibits the salix leaf-like morphology that is accompanied by two kinds of topological structures including the dart-like and carambola-like shapes. More importantly, the unique structure of AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x contributes to high-performance sensing for the determination of CBZ. A series of control experiments has been performed in order to investigate the structure-activity relationship and sensing mechanism of AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x. According to the material characterization results and performance testing results, the synergistic effect of AuNPs, ZIF-L and Ti 3 C 2 T x is considered as the key of high-efficiency reaction interface that leads to the electrocatalytic oxidation of CBZ. The established electrochemical sensor based on the non-enzymatic AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x shows a low limit of detection is 1.2 nM. Notably, the highly sensitive determination of CBZ can be realized by AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x , owing to 66,684 μA mM−1 cm−2 of sensitivity. The two-stage linear detection ranges are 0.01–0.20 μM and 0.20–20.00 μM. The potential application of AuNPs@ZIF-L-Ti 3 C 2 T x has been displayed to develop high-performance sensor.
