Abstract

A study was conducted to show how managerial routines can be used to transform capabilities into competitive advantages within professional service firms (PSFs). Findings indicate that PSFs' innovations are routine and are mainly reactive. The conflict between external demands and internal utilization of capabilities within companies is also explained.

A study was conducted to show that international professional services firms (PSFs) also need relatively flat, dynamic organizations composed of many units that are each highly market oriented. It is believed that international PSFs present a unique challenge for governments, as they directly and indirectly affect government policies and the agencies that enforce these policies.
