Legal reasoning in the common law tradition requires judges to draw on concepts, and examples that are meant to resonate with a particular emotional import and operate in judicial reasoning as though they do. Judicial applications of constitutional rights are regularly interpreted by reference to past violations (either through precedent, contextual framings, and/or legislative history), which in turn elicit a series of emotions which work to deepen and intensify judicial understandings of a right guarantee (freedom of association, freedom of expression, equality, security of the person, etc.). This paper examines the way in which invocations of past political histories, and rights abuses (however ill or well-defined), work to conjure up a set of service emotions (emotions which work to establish a particular frame of mind), which guide judicial applications of doctrine in cases concerning an alleged violation of a constitutional right.

We examine the nation as a social and dynamic structure. Therefore, the elements of the discourses that surround the nation are developed based on the discourses of the members of the imagined community that integrates it under its umbrella. Consequently, the umbrella forces the community to represent discourses within a concrete framework. The community, however, will structure the own and subjective elements of its nation’s discourse based on the sociological context. We consider the territory as the nation’s own space for action. By dividing the physical world through invented boundaries, these boundaries lead the «insiders» to structure different identities compared to the «outsiders». The territory, at least in the case of Euskal Herria, due to its sociological diversity, develops different discourses depending on its context and situation. Finally, environmentalism, taking into account its different variants, allows the community a change of model. To protect the world from collapse, it conceives the human being as an ecosystem that is located within nature and in which both live in interdependence. Consequently, taking into account the fears and hopes of the 21st century, we believe that environmentalism can become a means to become, today, nationalist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article analyses the factors determining the use of the Basque language in the French territories of Labourd, Basse-Navarre and Soule. We defend the hypothesis that the use of the Etxepare language is determined by three key factors: linguistic competence and, more precisely, the level of knowledge of the Basque language; the individual's first language or languages, which have an impact on the level of knowledge and frequency of use; and, the individual's linguistic motivation, which is particularly perceptible in attitudes and opinions towards Basque and its promotion. To this should be added the density of Basque speakers in the speaker's social network, enabling him to speak Basque. These factors feed into each other, creating a cumulative phenomenon. In the literature, questions have received attention because they allow analyzing parameters and movements or the lack of movement typologically. The syntax of questions has also been investigated in Basque linguistics, although if one looks at the different types of questions, there are discrepancies between the analyses. The aim of this article is to provide a coherent and unique analysis of questions. For this purpose, I will use not only on typological data, but also mechanisms developed within the Generative Grammar, and I will propose that the sentence type is established between the nuclei of Force and Finite, but the question type is determined by the properties [wh] or [pol] of the variable under the interrogative force. Arakistain fraideak Erronkari hiribilduan jaso zuen hitz zerrenda ekarriko dugu. In this paper, we present an edition of the famous letter that the tenor Julian Gayarre (1844-1890) wrote to his aunt. This letter has been used to prove that the Roncalese tenor was a speaker of Basque, but in this paper we would like to study the text as linguistic evidence instead, a task that was yet to be carried out. This document is a relevant piece of evidence of the Basque spoken in Roncal in the 19th century. We will compare the main transcriptions of the document, suggest a new interpretation of the text and comment on the most important linguistic features of the missive, as well as contextualizing the language in relation to the other witnesses of the Roncalese dialect. Similarly, in order to continue improving our knowledge on little known Roncalese witnesses, we bring a wordlist collected by the friar J. A. Arakistain in the village of Roncal in the middle of the 18th century as an appendix.

This paper is concerned with the diachrony of Basque postnominal relative clauses, which appear in old Basque texts, together with the prenominal variant. The main goal of this paper is to analyse a corpus of Basque texts between the 16th and 19th centuries and describe the occurrences of the construction both quantitatively and qualitatively. On the whole, the postnominal relative clause was a well entrenched construction, rather than a minor stylistic variant (in many texts over 20% of relative clauses appear right to the noun). However, there was also a great deal of variation: dialectal, but also within dialects. Text genre and whether the text is a translation seem to influence the frequency of use of the postnominal relative clause.

Retaking a paper previously issued in 2013 with professor Alba Nogueira López about the legal problems raised at the time (2012) by professor´s replacement rate in spanish higher education sector due to staff cuts policies, the present paper reviews the evolution of this new legal framework in the provision of new academic positions, both non tenured and tenured, in Spanish universities, during the term of X legislature (2012-2015). We conclude that a) in this subject, the reform has been gone further than a simple budget cut, crossing the border line of covering job positions; b) far from being the end point of excepcional package of budget cut measures, this legislature has concluded with its permanent setting throughout Universities Law. Drawing from this conclusions, we discuss the consistency of that human resources management with reform politics of spanish higher education, triyng to highlighting the keys of upcoming changes in our particular academic environment.

The main theme of this paper is the examination of the judgments of Italian and Spanish Constitutional Courts on minority language legislation to show how they had paramount importance to develop legislation in this sector. The paper is two-hold: the first part of the paper deals with Italian Legislation and Italian Constitutional Court judgments regarding the protection of minority languages. Then the paper narrows down its focus onto Italian Constitutional Court judgment n. 159 of 2009. The second part of the paper looks to Spanish Constitutional Court judgments regarding the Autonomous Communities legislation on minority languages. The paper then concludes that Constitution and Constitutional Court judgments have a significant influence in the development of legislation regarding the protection of minority languages.

This paper explores the implications of the militarisation of Australian history and the dilemmas of increasing public support for same-sex marriage in Australia at a time of renewed assaults on Indigenous rights, austerity measures and the silencing of dissent. The paper analyses the celebratory rhetoric which increasingly typifies both marriage equality campaigns and the commemoration of Australia’s First World War or ‘Anzac’ history in popular media and public debate. Against the confluence between ongoing debates on same-sex marriage and the ‘Anzac myth’, I highlight four key challenges: the silencing of dissent; forgetting of the Frontier Wars; untold stories of civil society achievements; and the normalising of same-sex rights. I argue that professed support for a liberal version of ‘gay rights’ exemplified by same-sex marriage, set against a militarized version of Australian history, glosses over past and ongoing injustices. A militarized version of history underpins a nationalism that misrepresents credit for advances in rights recognition, sidelining public representations of Indigenous sovereignties and the contributions of civil society, protest and social justice campaigning to the recognition and maintenance of civil and political rights. As a result, the transformative claims of Land Rights and Treaty, critiques of war, and queer politics, are contained. Este artículo explora las implicaciones de la militarización de la historia de Australia y los dilemas del creciente apoyo público al matrimonio entre parejas del mismo sexo en Australia, en una época de ataques renovados a los derechos de los indígenas, medidas de austeridad y silenciamiento de las discrepancias. El artículo analiza la retórica de celebración en los medios populares y el debate público que cada vez más acompaña tanto las campañas de igualdad matrimonial como la conmemoración de la historia de Australia en la primera guerra mundial o “Anzac”. En contra de la confluencia entre los debates que se están desarrollando sobre el matrimonio entre parejas del mismo sexo y el “mito Anzac”, se destacan cuatro retos clave: el silenciamiento de las discrepancias, el olvido de las Guerras de Frontera; las historias no contadas sobre los logros de la sociedad civil; y la normalización de los derechos de las parejas del mismo sexo. Se defiende que el supuesto apoyo a una versión liberal de los “derechos homosexuales” ejemplificado por el matrimonio entre parejas del mismo sexo, contrapuesto con una versión militarizada de la historia de Australia, encubre injusticias pasadas y actuales. Una versión militarizada de la historia respalda un nacionalismo que tergiversa el crédito para avanzar en el reconocimiento de derechos, marginando las representaciones públicas de la soberanía de los indígenas y las contribuciones de la sociedad civil, las protestas y campañas de protesta en favor de la justicia social para que se reconozcan y mantengan los derechos civiles y políticos. Justice Reinvestment is being actively promoted as one means of reducing high levels of incarceration through diverting expenditures from prisons to fund services intended to provide support and supervision for offenders within the community and to prevent crime. At a time of financial stringency, the huge expenditure necessitated by high incarceration rates is being re-examined. There is growing recognition that high levels of incarceration are ineffective in reducing recidivism and may be criminogenic and damaging in other ways for individuals and communities. Based on claims that Justice Reinvestment schemes in the US have produced promising results, some activists and politicians in Australia have urged the adoption of Justice Reinvestment. This advocacy has emphasised the need to find mechanisms to reduce the very high levels of incarceration of Indigenous people. Women’s imprisonment rates have increased substantially in recent years and to a greater extent than rates for men. This pattern has been observed in several jurisdictions and is even more pronounced for Indigenous women. This paper critically examines features of Justice Reinvestment, such as its endorsement of ‘evidence based policy’ and risk assessment tools, to question whether these features are likely to promote the interests of women. Se está promoviendo activamente la reinversión en justicia como un medio para reducir las altas tasas de encarcelamiento, dedicando gastos destinados a prisiones para financiar servicios dentro de la comunidad que presten apoyo y supervisión a los delincuentes y que prevengan el delito. En un momento de restricciones financieras, se está revisando el enorme gasto que generan las altas tasas de encarcelamiento. Existe un creciente reconocimiento de que una alta tasa de encarcelamiento no es eficaz para reducir la reincidencia y, de diversas maneras, puede aumentar la criminalidad y ser perjudicial para individuos y comunidades. Basándonos en que en EE UU los proyectos de reinversión en justicia han dado resultados prometedores, algunos activistas y políticos han instado a la adopción de la reinversión en justicia en Australia. Este apoyo ha hecho hincapié en la necesidad de encontrar mecanismos para reducir las tasas muy altas de encarcelamiento de indígenas. Las tasas de encarcelamiento de mujeres han aumentado sustancialmente en los últimos años y en un grado mayor que las tasas de hombres. Este patrón se ha observado en diferentes jurisdicciones y es aún más acusado en el caso de mujeres indígenas. Este artículo analiza de forma crítica las características de la reinversión en justicia, como su apoyo a una “política basada en pruebas” y las herramientas de valoración de riesgo, para plantearse si estas características pueden promover los intereses de las mujeres. Financialised capitalism and the neoliberal ‘orthodoxy’ that sustained it are unstable and fragile. As the economic paradigm shifts, so will the legal and policy regime. No one knows what a post-neoliberal era will look like. There is potential for it to be socially progressive and pro-feminist. But that will be heavily contested. If feminism is to make an active contribution to a post-neoliberal transformation, debates over strategies and alternatives need to be informed by rigorous feminist analyses that engage with questions of political economy, something that was lost over recent decades. This paper reflects on the strengths and limitations of feminist critiques of financial crisis and capture of political power by a shadow elite in Iceland. It then assesses their contribution to more generic feminist analyses and strategies for transformation, using the example of New Zealand, a country with very similar characteristics that itself faces a potentially debilitating financial crisis. It concludes that feminist critiques of financialisation and neoliberalism must include a political economy perspective if they are to make a relevant and effective contribution to transformation. El capitalismo financiarizado y la “ortodoxia” neoliberal que lo sustenta son inestables y frágiles. A medida que el paradigma económico cambia, también lo hará el régimen jurídico y político. Nadie sabe cómo será una era post-neoliberal. Hay potencial para que sea socialmente progresista y pro-feminista. Pero se enfrentará a una gran oposición. Si el feminismo quiere hacer una contribución activa a la transformación post-neoliberal, se deben redactar informes con análisis feministas rigurosos sobre estrategias y alternativas, que traten cuestiones de política económica, algo que se ha perdido en las últimas décadas. Este artículo refleja las fortalezas y limitaciones de las críticas feministas a la crisis financiera, y la acaparación del poder político por una élite a la sombra, en Islandia. A continuación evalúa su contribución a análisis feministas más genéricos y las estrategias de transformación, usando el ejemplo de Nueva Zelanda, un país con características similares que se enfrenta a una crisis financiera potencialmente debilitadora. State-based processes for determining refugee claims are crucial sites of inclusion or exclusion for onshore refugee applicants. This paper argues that cultures of disbelief and exclusion towards onshore refugee applicants are increasingly being enacted indirectly, via procedural reforms to Refugee Status Determination (RSD), which limit the ability of applicants to establish and articulate their claims. Focusing on Australia and Canada, this paper tracks the acceleration and truncation of RSD procedures, which first reflect and then frequently achieve the exclusion of onshore applicants. Two sets of reforms in particular have profoundly limited the terms on which applicants may present their claims. In Canada, this occurred as the result of a major overhaul of RSD that took place in December 2012. In Australia, the policy of ‘enhanced screening’ of applicants achieves the immediate screening-out of certain claims from the Australian determination system. Alongside analysing these reforms as a means of exclusion, this paper argues that the new procedures most disadvantage applicants making claims on the basis of gender-related persecution. Los procesos estatales para resolver las concesiones de asilo son situaciones cruciales para la inclusión o exclusión de los solicitantes de asilo una vez están en el territorio de acogida. Este artículo defiende que cada vez más, se está promulgando indirectamente la cultura de la desconfianza y exclusión hacia los solicitantes de asilo, a través de reformas procesuales de la Determinación del Estatus de Refugiado (DER), lo que limita la capacidad de los solicitantes para establecer y articular sus demandas de asilo. Centrándose en Australia y Canadá, este artículo realiza un seguimiento de la aceleración y el truncamiento de los procedimientos de DER que primero reflejan y después a menudo consiguen la exclusión de los solicitantes en el propio territorio de acogida. Dos grupos de reformas en particular han limitado profundamente las condiciones en las que los demandantes pueden presentar sus solicitudes. En Canadá esto ocurrió debido a una revisión importante de DER que se dio en diciembre de 2012. En Australia, la política de cribado mejorado de los solicitantes consigue la exclusión inmediata de determinadas solicitudes del sistema de determinación australiano. Además de analizar estas reformas como medio de exclusión, este artículo defiende que los nuevos procedimientos perjudican especialmente a los demandantes que realizan la solicitud en base a una persecución por motivos de género. This paper is concerned with a concept that has permeated discussions about the corporation in the early 21st century: the “corporate citizen”. The paper uses the liberal understanding of citizenship that involves responsibilities and duties owed to the state on one hand, and the rights guaranteed by the state on the other as its starting point, and applies this dualism to the corporate citizen. Yet the rights and duties applied to corporations are not strictly analogous to the corresponding rights and responsibilities of real flesh and blood citizens. Corporate citizenship implies a set of exceptional powers and privileges that combine to produce homo supra, a paradigmatic “supra-sovereign” subject that is empowered to enjoy sovereign protections and rights far-exceeding those that any ordinary citizen could expect. The paper thus shows how the process of ascribing corporate citizenship has become a key mechanism through which unequal power relations (and attendant privileges of class, gender and race etc.) is guaranteed. El artículo se ocupa del concepto de “ciudadano corporativo”. Utiliza la forma liberal de entender la ciudadanía, la cual, como punto de partida, implica responsabilidades y deberes hacia el Estado, por un lado, y los derechos garantizados por el Estado, por el otro, y aplica esa dualidad al ciudadano corporativo. Sin embargo, los derechos y deberes impuestos a las corporaciones no son estrictamente análogos a los derechos y deberes de los ciudadanos de carne y hueso. La ciudadanía corporativa implica un conjunto de poderes y privilegios excepcionales que se combinan para producir el homo supra, un “supersoberano” paradigmático que es empoderado con amparos y derechos soberanos que exceden con mucho aquéllos que un ciudadano normal podría esperar. En esta introducción se presentan siete trabajos relacionados con la labor de las clínicas jurídicas. Se trata, concretamente, de las clínicas jurídicas de las universidades de Puerto Rico, Burdeos, Alcalá, Deusto y UPV/EHU. Sin embargo, antes de hacer referencia a los trabajos, se da cuenta del contexto de su producción: un workshop celebrado en el IISJ de Oñati en mayo de 2017. Junto a las características del workshop (justificación, estructura y peculiaridades), se destaca el aspecto fundamental que une a los diversos modelos de clínicas jurídicas tratados, como es albergar un tipo de jurista que instrumentaliza el Derecho en su compromiso por la justicia social. This introduction presents seven papers related to the work of legal clinics. These are, in particular, the legal clinics of the universities of Puerto Rico, Bordeaux, Alcalá, Deusto and UPV/EHU. The papers were presented in a workshop held at the IISJ in May 2017. Along with the characteristics of the workshop (justification, structure and peculiarities), this introduction shows the fundamental aspect that unifies the different models of legal clinics discussed, such as hosting a kind of lawyer who uses the law in its commitment to social justice. The permanent crisis in the southern periphery of Europe has been deep socially, politically and economically. In order to contain it the sovereign power has shown all its majesty. The state of exception has been the mechanism deployed to introduce the political decision within the legal framework. Departing from Agamben’s understanding of this mechanism of power, the paper directs its attention to several dimensions in Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. That is, the financial crisis, the corporate impunity and the migrants death have been handled to silence the potentia to disrupt the ongoing capitalist and colonial regime of power. Actually, the state of exception has secured the current status quo, but also has intensified the ongoing regime of power. This dispositive is always accompanied by a legitimising discourse which essentialises and otherises these countries. After observing how this mechanism has operated in Southern Europe, the paper turns on discussing how to abandon this regime of power. La crisis permanente en la periferia sur de Europa ha sido profunda. El estado de excepción ha sido el mecanismo desplegado para introducir la decisión política en el marco jurídico. Partiendo de la interpretación de este mecanismo de poder por parte de Agamben, el artículo se fija en varias dimensiones en Portugal, Italia, Grecia y España. Es decir: la crisis financiera, la impunidad de las grandes empresas y la muerte de migrantes han sido gestionadas para acallar la potentia para perturbar el régimen de poder capitalista y colonial. En realidad, el estado de excepción ha reforzado el status quo, pero también ha intensificado el poder establecido. Este dispositivo siempre viene acompañado de un discurso legitimizador que esencializa y alteriza esos países. The objective of this paper is to reflect on some of the sexisms camouflaged in the informality of horizontal learning related to sexuality – understanding that they constitute the new hard core where neoliberal ideology stores, among others, the knowledge of patriarchal pedagogy –. The paper problematizes tolerance for prostitution by submitting to critical scrutiny some elements of the social imaginary that contribute to sustain the relationship between hegemonic masculinity and female prostitution. As the prostitution system is the most patent and persistent legacy of violence against women of patriarchy that remains more normalized, this analysis contributes to show what is being done wrong or is being left undone in education, by not demanding the acquisition of the type of knowledge produced by feminist studies that enables to take a critical argument that guarantees zero tolerance to this type of control, and exercise a democratic citizenship that contributes to greater social justice.

In this paper we carry out an exhaustive analysis, from a methodological point of view, of STC 145/2015, of June 25. In it, we find numerous flaws in the implementation of the constitutional legal method in terms of respect for the text of the constitution, the following of precedent, the interpretative rule of article 10.2, the use of analogy, weighting, etc. The methodological failures, when they are numerous or serious, result in the discredit and delegitimization of the TC as guarantor of the Constitution and fundamental rights. It is therefore necessary for this institution to adhere to a rigorous legal method in the exercise of its jurisdictional activity.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the system of distribution of competences between the State and the Autonomous Communities in the field of promotion mesures and, more specifically, in the area of subsidies. To this end, the constitutional jurisprudence is analyzed over the more tan forty years of operation of the Constitutional Court. Three stages are distinguished, presided over by the main jurisprudential milestones in this area. The centralizing trend has presided over this entire process. Trough this jurisprudential work, a consolidated constitutional doctrine has been developed, with its advances and setbacks thar are not exempt from criticism.

Interactions between citizens and the public administration are increasingly taking place by electronic means, often referred to as e-government. In Spain, these interactions mostly have to be monolingual, in Spanish, in the case of the central administration, but may be bilingual or even multilingual in autonomous communities that have their own official language. In this paper, we intend to show how state-of-the-art oral and written linguistic technologies for Spain’s coofficial languages could allow speakers of these languages to use them in many of their administrative relations with any Spanish public agency, thereby facilitating the conversion of Spain’s mostly monolingual administration into a multilingual one, enhancing digital language equality and guaranteeing the linguistic rights of speakers of minoritised languages. We will present an overview of the most promising language technologies in terms of their relevance from the point of view of multilingual communication between citizens and the administration. We will also review the existing technologies for Spain’s co-official languages, and present some ideas on how these could be integrated towards the multilingual transformation of Spanish public administrations without neglecting some of the attendant ethical and legal issues. The present work is intended to serve as an introductory and accessible overview for legislators, administrators, or any other person interested in the potential of language technologies to assist in developing a multilingual public administration.

Catalonia has developed a model of schooling in which Catalan is the medium of instruction and both Catalan and Spanish are compulsory subjects. In 2020, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia ruled that at least 25% of teaching must be delivered in Spanish in all schools in Catalonia, raising the issue of whether this obligation conforms to the undertakings chosen by that Spain under the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. To clarify, we first need to answer the following question: what does “education in a regional or minority language” mean? This paper provides an answer to this question based on the interpretation of the Committee of Experts of the Charter, and addresses two side issues: whether education in a regional or minority language can be compulsory for all pupils, and under what scenarios would it be legitimate to enforce the use of the State’s official language in schools where a regional or minority language (RML) is the medium of instruction. A conclusion is reached that may offer guidance for future discussion on the role of the State’s official language(s) in RML-medium schools.

In this paper we argue that social representations are a key mechanism through which knowledge about intimate partner violence is shared and understood. We draw on in-depth interviews with 11 men who had perpetrated violence against an intimate woman partner and analyse the social representations of masculinities, femininities and violence that emerge from men’s narratives about their lives and relationships. We analyse men’s social representations of violence primarily through the lens of respectability involving both masculine and feminine forms of respectability, which contribute to the maintenance of patriarchy. We show how the narrative of respectability is held together by representations of masculine heroism and feminine masochism and the findings cast light on how acts of violence are shaped by a range of intersections and structural oppressions. Social representations of gender and intimate partner violence also show how individual men’s narratives about violence are largely influenced by their peers, kin and wider community norms that make violence against women acceptable. This paper examines the complexities of the help-seeking process of minoritized women (primarily asylum-seekers and immigrants) experiencing domestic violence in Northern Ireland. The term ‘minoritized’ is used here to emphasize that “minority” status is not a static or innate trait of certain groups but instead is the outcome of a process of being positioned as a minority. The paper addresses the intersections of ethnicity, nationality, class and gender and shows how state policies in relation to immigration and social security reinforce inequalities in gendered power relations. Despite attempts to improve the social security and immigration systems, the findings from a Northern Ireland study show how recent policy changes have not addressed the systemic institutional racism and institutionalised patriarchy in these agencies. Where avenues for action are undermined by such practices, the policies raise concerns about the safety and protection of minoritized women living in abusive relationships. We argue that the UK is failing to meet its human rights responsibilities to provide adequate support and assistance to minoritized women in abusive relationships and conclude that delivering state accountability alongside a human rights framework based on security, autonomy, liberty and equality is what is needed. This paper interrogates the meaning of lifting all women as we climb the ladder of gender equality and justice by recognizing that gender violence affects women differently. This is because violence against women is perpetrated not only on the basis of their gender or sex but also other identities of race, religion, caste, region, age, disability, nationality, sexual orientation etc. With reference to CEDAW jurisprudence and examples from India, I seek to explain this understanding with the help of a normative framework of ‘intersectional integrity’. The framework insists on considering claimants as a whole by tracing unique and shared patterns of gender violence when it is also based on other identities such as race, religion, caste, region, age, disability, nationality, and sexual orientation. I argue that applying the framework allows us to diagnose and address the nature of violence suffered on multiple identities, in a clear and comprehensive way. Este artículo cuestiona el sentido de levantar a todas las mujeres a medida que se asciende la escalera de la igualdad de género y la justicia, reconociendo que la violencia de género afecta a las mujeres de manera diferente. Bryant Park is New York City's only 100% privately funded and managed 'public' park, making it an oft looked-to model of public-private partnerships. This paper examines the everyday workings of the park using ethnographic and archival data, and criminological and urban theory. These details help us understand how Bryant produces a theme-park-like social order in its built environment, landscaping, management, and programming of the park. I suggest that social control functions through five governing principles: visibility, classification, predictability, vulnerability, and empowerment. Everything is neatly classified, from people to activities to trash. Vulnerable design elements like flowers are chosen to suggest the park is cared for. Park-goers are meant to feel not controlled, but in-control; safe, comfortable, and empowered.This elaborate manipulation of semiotics and space serves to produce surplus value for multiple corporate interests involved in and around the park. I argue that the park operates as a site of production of revenue for these corporate interests. I explain how the park is created and marketed as a product itself, which park-goers have an unwitting share in producing. Thus New York’s elite-business community benefits from this nominally public park. The aim of this paper is to examine the impact that monetary measures had on social protection (the so-called social benefits) on the living conditions of the Spaniards during the period 1995-2010. In Spain, the analysis of such aid is not new (see, for example, Adelantado and Calderon, 2005, Navarro and Reinolds 2007, Guillen et al. 2012). However, these studies have evaluated how public spending on social transfers reduces the risk of poverty, based on the relationship between income and poverty. In this paper, we go beyond the dichotomous distinction between the population that is at risk of poverty and it is not, through a measurement scale of precariousness. This is in order to observe more accurately the changes in the structural positions of various social groups. El objetivo de este trabajo es examinar la incidencia que tuvieron las ayudas monetarias en protección social (los denominados social benefits) sobre las condiciones de vida de los españoles durante el periodo 1995-2010. En España, el análisis de tales ayudas no es nuevo (ver por ejemplo, Adelantado y Calderón, 2005, Navarro y Reinolds 2007, Guillén et al. 2012). A multi-ethnic community farm, located in California, was created in 2011 to be commonly exploited by refugees and emigrants from different countries.This paper aims to describe, as an observable fact, how distinct non-state normativities behave and relate in their dynamic process of interaction, surpassing the usual state/local law bases of analysis.The farm was approved by the state authorities and the NGO has created its regulations. Concomitantly, the distinct communities of farmers have defied and transformed the farm’s regulations by incorporating their competing legal land tenure regimes and legal postulates in the same structure of the unofficial law of the farm, through a common frame of meaning and the enactment of the “autonomy rule”. This has allowed the growers to follow their normativities inside the farm. However, its creation process and daily practice also exposes the relevance of the official law in its constitution, shape and function. En 2011 se creó en California una granja multiétnica comunal, para que fuera explotada en comunidad por refugiados y emigrantes de diferentes países. Este artículo pretende describir, como hecho observable, cómo se comportan y se relacionan normativas no estatales en un proceso dinámico de interacción, superando las bases de análisis estado/local habituales del derecho. Las autoridades estatales aprobaron la granja, y la ONG creó su propia normativa. Al mismo tiempo, las diferentes comunidades de agricultores han desafiado y transformado el reglamento de la granja, incorporando sus regímenes legales de tenencia de tierras vigentes, y los postulados legales en la misma estructura del derecho no oficial, a través de un marco común de significado y la promulgación de la “norma de autonomía”. Esto ha permitido a los productores seguir sus normativas dentro de la finca. This paper explains the creation of an intelligible suggestion for better understanding the administrative sanction in many disciplines in social sciences: the bureau-repression. The coining of this concept is due especially to the repression to which social protestors and demonstrators have been subject since the birth of the 15-M movement in Spain. However, bureau-repression had already begun being exercised in the years following the Transition, and it has developed in parallel to the stage of Security State that characterizes the state system of social control. A detailed analysis of the administrative sanction is performed for many benefits which such sanction provides for those in power, who use it both to silence voices from the street and to dispose of elements which are harmful for the neoliberal system (disadvantaged groups or immigrants). In short, the reader will find the underlying political and repressive background which, at first glance, is usually a monetary fine, and will discover that there are ways to avoid this dense surveillance exercised over the governed people (bureau-resistance). Este artículo explica la creación de una sugerencia inteligible para una mejor comprensión de la sanción administrativa en muchas disciplinas de las ciencias sociales: la burorrepresión. Este término nació especialmente a raíz de la represión que han sufrido los manifestantes de las protestas sociales desde el nacimiento del movimiento 15-M en España. TThis paper discusses the impact of austerity on social services in Portugal. The highly complex process of changes to public services launched by anti-crisis programmes needs to be analysed from different perspectives. On the supply side, the impacts are associated with reducing expenditure in social areas in different ways: reducing benefits by axing services, cutting staff costs, dismissing public sector workers and centralizing procurement; privatizing public management; blind cuts to the current expenses budget. On the demand side, the impacts are associated with reductions to the disposable income of families by cutting entitlements to healthcare, education, housing, social security and other benefits, cutting public sector pay, taxing pensions, and introducing or increasing restrictions on access to public services. Este artículo analiza el impacto de la austeridad en los servicios sociales de Portugal. El proceso de cambio en las políticas públicas tan complejo que se produjo como consecuencia de los programas anti-crisis requieren un análisis desde diferentes perspectivas. Developments in feminist theory and research towards a more complex approach to gender relations and a more differentiated understanding of gendered violence have been positive but also have been the subject of significant debate. Some debates have long histories, while others mark more newly emergent concerns. In this paper I reflect on three areas of debate: intersectionality, complex gendering and complex inequalities; differentiating between forms of gendered violence (with a focus on intimate partner violence (IPV)), and criminalisation. In each of these areas, feminist frameworks and knowledge concerning gendered violence have been challenged and the resurgence of gender neutral accounts has been notable. I argue that keeping a structural analysis to the fore provides the best way forward for constructive debate in the field aligned with feminist aspirations for the achievement of substantive equality. El desarrollo de la teoría feminista y la investigación hacia un enfoque más complejo de las relaciones de género y una comprensión más diferenciada de la violencia de género ha sido positivo, pero también ha sido objeto de un importante debate. Algunos debates tienen una larga historia, mientras que otros marcan preocupaciones emergentes surgidas en los últimos tiempos. En este trabajo se reflexiona sobre tres áreas de debate: interseccionalidad, configuración de géneros compleja y desigualdades complejas; diferenciación entre formas de violencia de género (fijándose en la violencia de pareja (VP)); y la criminalización. En cada una de estas áreas, se han cuestionado los marcos feministas y el conocimiento relativo a la violencia de género, y ha sido notable el resurgimiento de cuentas de género neutro. Increasing community action in natural resource governance is commonly seen as a pathway for improving decision making, enabling increased on-ground activity and facilitating widespread acceptance of government and industry legitimacy in managing natural resources. Other perspectives on community engagement see the promise of enriching existing or emerging democratic values by addressing the limitations of representative governance. While the practice of community engagement has been well described, more work needs to be done to understand the institutional factors that contribute to the expectations attached to these practices, and how the role of community in natural resource governance can be improved.This article presents findings from a review of academic and practitioner literature on the topics of community engagement and natural resource governance. 127 articles were reviewed and the resulting conceptual framework is described. A thematic analysis of the data-set was then conducted to further clarify and extend the research question. The results reveal a persistent focus on practical aspects of engaging community, without sufficient analysis of how institutional dynamics such as legal requirements, policy drivers and implementation contexts impact on the realities of community environmental governance. The paper concludes with future research directions in the pursuit of improving the role of community in natural resource governance. It is expected that the insights generated through this article will have relevance to other modern democratic societies and be of interest to environmental lawyers, policy makers and community advocates. El aumento de la acción comunitaria en la gobernanza de los recursos naturales habitualmente se percibe como una vía para mejorar la toma de decisiones ya que permite aumentar la actividad sobre el terreno, y facilita la aceptación generalizada de la legitimidad del gobierno y la industria a la hora de gestionar los recursos naturales. Otras perspectivas de la implicación de la comunidad perciben la promesa de enriquecimiento que existe en los valores democráticos emergentes, abordando las limitaciones del gobierno representativo. Mientras que se ha descrito de forma correcta la práctica de la participación comunitaria, aún queda trabajo por delante para comprender los factures institucionales que contribuyen a las expectativas unidas a estas prácticas, y cómo mejorar el papel de la comunidad en la gestión de los recursos naturales.Este artículo presenta los resultados de una revisión de la literatura académica y profesional sobre estos temas: participación comunitaria y gobierno de los recursos naturales. Tras revisar 127 artículos, se describió el marco conceptual resultante. A continuación, se realizó un análisis temático del conjunto de datos para aclarar y ampliar el tema de investigación. This article describes the development of the Italian feminist political lexicon on gender-based violence within the security frame in the last years. After the description of the historical main issues developed by feminism during the Seventies about the relation between gender-based violence, women’s self-determination and criminal law, this paper describes the new framework of feminist and queer movements against the security policies on gender-based violence adopted by the Italian government since 2007. On the one hand, feminist movements criticized the processes of criminalization and victimization produced by the security frame and denounced the underlying nexus between sexism and racism. On the other hand, they addressed the essentialism deriving from these processes. Despite the mainstream vocabulary used the term “feminicide” in order to focus on its victimizing and alarmist aspects, contemporary feminist and queer movements thus addressed gender-based violence as a problem related to the gender stereotypes and sexist prejudices by deconstructing concepts such as gender, sexuality, and (hetero)patriarchy. In this perspective, gender-based violence is not only a form of dominion by men of women, but it also takes the shape of differential forms of inclusion and exclusion of LGBTQI persons in the neoliberal system, as in the case of homo- and trans-phobia Este artículo describe el desarrollo en los últimos años del léxico político feminista italiano sobre violencia de género en el marco de la seguridad. Después de describir los principales hitos históricos desarrollados por el feminismo en los años setenta, sobre la relación entre la violencia de género, la autodeterminación de las mujeres y el derecho penal, este artículo describe el nuevo marco de los movimientos feministas y queer contra las políticas de seguridad sobre violencia de género adoptadas por el gobierno italiano desde 2007. Por un lado, los movimientos feministas criticaron los procesos de criminalización y la victimización producida por el marco de seguridad y denunció la conexión subyacente entre sexismo y racismo. Por otro lado, abordaron el esencialismo derivado de estos procesos. A pesar de que el vocabulario convencional utilizaba el término “feminicidio” para hacer hincapié en la victimización y sus aspectos alarmistas, los movimientos feministas y queer contemporáneos abordaron así la violencia de género como un problema relacionado con los estereotipos de género y los prejuicios sexistas, desmontando conceptos como género, sexualidad y (hetero)patriarcado. This paper takes up Jung’s concept of Alchemy and applies the theory of this transformational process to prison psychotherapy. In particular, it discusses the manifest meanings in the prison system, how those can be made present and manifest, and how psychotherapy can prove an event, a moment when transformation can take place. It then discusses the openness and closedness of the client and the therapist to the transformational possibilities of the event, and the consequences of those fluid positions. Contextualizing the degree of openness is the adjacent possible in this potentially very human form of relating, and how the apparatus of prisons situated within a broader culture informs the transformational alchemy of forensic psychotherapy. Este artículo recoge el concepto de alquimia de Jung, y aplica la teoría de este proceso transformativo a la psicoterapia de prisiones. En particular, se tratan los significados evidentes del sistema de prisiones, cómo éstos se pueden hacer presentes y evidentes, y cómo la psicoterapia puede probar un evento, un momento en el que la transformación puede tener lugar. Like James Hardie-Bick’s (2015) contribution this paper elaborates on the importance for socio-legal studies of Ernest Becker’s (1924-1974) work on the destructive consequences of human … all too human forms of death denial. With Becker, it makes an attempt to think through the question, ‘Is it possible, in the light of the human condition, to escape evil?’ Terminally ill by the early 1970s, Becker himself was left no time to complete his thoughts on this matter. Focussing on the point where Becker left the discussion when he died in 1974 we make an attempt here, still with an eye on the aforementioned question, to explore the work of a number of philosophers whose work we know Becker was familiar with: Benedictus de Spinoza, Henri Bergson, and Albert Camus. In their work, it is argued here, one could find elements towards thinking through the question of evil, and the (im)possibility of escaping it. This paper introduces the work of the late cultural anthropologist Ernest Becker. Becker argued that the cause of human suffering is directly related to the strategies people use to cope with their mortality awareness. By concentrating on his last two books, The Denial of Death (1973) and Escape from Evil (1975), the aim of this paper is to provide an overview of Becker’s mature theory to show how his work on destructiveness is necessary for developing a socially engaged social theory. Whilst his theory on the human condition explores some of the darkest aspects of human existence, by examining why people are capable of extreme forms of cruelty Becker directly encouraged an honest dialogue concerning our existential predicament. This paper highlights the necessity of Becker’s theory of evil for opening up new possibilities for living in a more humane world. Becker argumentó que la causa del sufrimiento humano está directamente relacionada con las estrategias que usan las personas para hacer frente a su conciencia de mortalidad. Analizando sus dos últimos libros, La negación de la muerte (1973) y La lucha contra el mal (1975), el objetivo de este artículo es ofrecer una visión general de la teoría madura de Becker para demostrar cómo su estudio sobre la destructividad es necesario para desarrollar una teoría social socialmente comprometida. This paper aims to discuss certain circumstances of the “constitution of the self” or individualization through diverse forms of experience. The creation of the self as individuum is depicted as having authorship over his actions in three distinctive yet interconnected instances of early stages of the Western Civilization: in Homeric society, in the Greek Polis and in a philosophical suggestion for a fully individualized citizenship. The law is set in this discussion as an external entity that forms the outer limit of human experience. Furthermore, fixed identities of the past and fluid identities of the modernity are analyzed not as pure social forms but as schemata of societal existence that imply the intermingling of opposite traits. Este artículo pretende debatir algunas circunstancias de la “constitución del ego” o individualización a través de diversas formas de experiencia. La creación del ego como individuum se representa la posesión de autoridad sobre sus acciones, en tres instancias de los albores de la civilización occidental, diferentes pero interconectadas: la sociedad homérica, las polis griegas y una sugerencia filosófica de una ciudadanía plenamente individualizada. El derecho se establece en esta discusión como una entidad externa que forma los límites periféricos de la experiencia humana. The eradication of violence is one of the main demands of disabled women's organizations around the world. As a result of their activism, both the Beijing Platform for Action (1995) and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006) made specific mention of their greater risk of suffering violence and the need to implement appropriate measures. However, the countries that have included these recommendations in their laws against gender violence are still scarce. Moreover, according to some women with functional diversity, this invisibility is often reproduced both among the feminist and the disability rights movement. The aim of this paper is to explore how an intersectional approach could help to overcome this double obstacle: on the one hand, encouraging the creation of alliances between social movements working for similar objectives and on the other hand, developing legislation and public policies which do not reproduce the exclusion of traditionally marginalized social groups. La erradicación de la violencia es una de las principales reivindicaciones de las organizaciones de mujeres con diversidad funcional a nivel internacional. Fruto de este activismo, se logró que tanto en la Plataforma de Acción de Beijing (1995) como en la Convención de la ONU sobre los derechos de las personas con discapacidad (2006), se hiciera mención específica a su mayor riesgo de sufrir violencia así como a la necesidad de implementar medidas adecuadas. Sin embargo, son todavía escasos los países cuya legislación contra la violencia de género ha introducido estas recomendaciones. Una invisibilización que, según manifiestan las propias mujeres con diversidad funcional, también se reproduce a menudo tanto en el movimiento feminista como en el de las personas con diversidad funcional. El objetivo del texto es explorar hasta qué punto la perspectiva de la interseccionalidad podría contribuir a superar este doble obstáculo: por un lado, potenciando la creación de alianzas entre movimientos sociales que trabajan por objetivos afines y por el otro, desarrollando legislaciones y políticas públicas que no reproduzcan la exclusión de grupos sociales tradicionalmente marginalizados. Gender-based violence has moved from being understood as a private matter to social problem. This manifestation of discrimination, inequality and power of men over women in the context of relationships is condemn in our country by the Law on Integral Protection Measures against Gender Violence 1/2004 of December 28.However, prostitution which has its foundations in the same patriarchal structure has no specific legislation that highlights this fact and condemns it. In our paper, taking as an example the Organic Law 1/2004, we developed a proposal justified on the actions that should be carried out at this respect. We mainly focus on three issues: equal education; discourage demand and protection and assistance to victims. We also bear in mind the need of social intolerance and legal condemnation in relation to the people who get benefits from the exploitation of others. La violencia de género ha pasado de ser considerada un asunto privado a entenderse como un problema social. Esta manifestación de discriminación, desigualdad y poder de los hombres sobre las mujeres en el marco de las relaciones de pareja es condenada en nuestro país por la Ley Orgánica de Medidas de Protección Integral contra la Violencia de Género 1/2004 de 28 de diciembre.Sin embargo, la prostitución, que hunde sus cimientos en la misma estructura patriarcal en la que se asienta la violencia de género, carece de una legislación específica que ponga de manifiesto esta relación y la condene. En este trabajo tomando como ejemplo la Ley Orgánica 1/2004 de medidas de protección integral contra la violencia de género, elaboramos una propuesta justificada sobre las actuaciones que deberían abordarse al hacer frente a esta problemática. Nos centramos principalmente en tres cuestiones que consideramos básicas: educación en igualdad; desincentivación de la demanda; protección y ayuda a las víctimas. Además, resulta imprescindible la construcción de entorno caracterizado por la intolerancia y condena jurídica a las personas que se benefician de la explotación ajena. A critical reflection on the experience at Courts of female victims of gender violence is the aim of this paper. Provincial, national and international laws are the framework for the analysis. The raw material are their reports ( assesed from the perspective of the newest writings on the issue) which stress the differences between the official discourse of the Administration of Justice and the victims' "accounts". Three different questions have been asked to guide our research: Are gender violence and poverty , factors linked to the lack of an effective Access to Justice? Which are the new factors observed everywhere and those which are present only in Latin America?Are there any changes in the social stereotypes which clear and ease the womens' path towards the administration of justice? En este artículo reflexionamos críticamente sobre la situación de las mujeres en La Plata-Argentina que padecen violencia de género cuando acceden a la administración de justicia. Para ello tomamos como marco referencial la normativa provincial, nacional e internacional. Utilizamos como insumo los testimonios de las mujeres, analizados a la luz de la literatura actual, que polemiza sobre la compleja y a veces contradictoria relación entre el discurso "oficial" de la Administración de justicia y los "relatos" de las mujeres. In some respects, the legal response to violence against women has gone ahead of cultural change. This gap allows the resurgence of old myths and strategies against gender equality, such as the so-called "counterclaim", that is, the man who has been denounced as an aggressor by his partner, in turn, accuses her from violence against him. In addition to the context in which these cross complaints arise, this paper presents the results of a study based on a group of sentences pronounced in Biscay, in which both man and woman are condemned for gender-based violence. It concludes that, beyond the principles, the criminal justice system treats women more rigorously.En algunos aspectos, la respuesta legal frente a la violencia contra las mujeres ha ido por delante del cambio cultural. Ese desfase abre una grieta por la que resurgen viejos mitos y estrategias contrarias a la igualdad de género, como la denominada "contradenuncia", que consiste en que el hombre que ha sido denunciado como agresor por su pareja, a su vez, acusa a ésta de ejercer violencia contra él. Además del contexto en el que dichas denuncias cruzadas se plantean, se exponen los resultados del análisis realizado sobre un grupo de sentencias -dictadas en Bizkaia- en las que se condena tanto al hombre como a la mujer por violencia de género, llegando a la conclusión de que, más allá de los principios, el sistema penal trata a las mujeres con mayor rigor punitivo. In this paper I present a critical edition of some verses written by D. L. Urkizu. Not many works were published in Basque during the first decades of the 18th century, and Urkizu's texts (a religious book and the verses presented here) are among them. Although they are particularly interesting for the study of the western linguistic variety of the Basque language, few studies have taken them into consideration. Regarding Urkizu's verses, they have been published two times before (Dodgson 1901, Altzibar 1993), but these editions are not free from transcription errors. Thus, this paper intends to correct these mistakes and to give a critical version of the text. Moreover, in order to make this contribution more complete, I provide an analysis of the language employed in the verses.

Gender-based violence affects all kinds of women, including the older. In these cases two determining characteristics intersect: gender and age, which usually means greater vulnerability for the victims. In this paper both the benefits of a look at the issue from the paradigm of intersectionality and the need of an autonomous theoretical construction of the issue are discussed. The issue of gender violence against older women has characteristics of its own even it´s still connected to forms of violence like gender violence, as a broad category, or family elder abuse. Some public policies from the perspective of intersectionality are also analyzed. La violencia de género afecta a todo tipo de mujeres, incluidas las mujeres de edad avanzada. En esos casos interseccionan dos características determinantes: el género y la edad, lo que implica generalmente una mayor vulnerabilidad de las víctimas. Se analizan en este texto tanto los beneficios de una mirada al problema desde el paradigma de la interseccionalidad como la necesidad de una construcción teórica autónoma de este fenómeno con dinámicas y características propias aunque conectado con formas de violencia como la violencia de género, como categoría más amplia, o la violencia familiar contra las personas mayores. Son también abordadas en este texto algunas iniciativas desde la perspectiva de la interseccionalidad entendida en su dimensión de inspiradora de políticas y actuaciones públicas. The paper discusses the issue of sexual violence against women during the past military dictatorships in Latin America, especially in Argentina, and some consequences in the current practice of their sexual and reproductive rights. It analyzes the extent the exercise of sexuality has a connection with the exercise of power, which organizes, manages, and prioritizes behavior depending on a political, social and cultural project, in a context of time and space. This means that the public and private, power and sexuality depend on the idea of the nation, class, race and religion, and consequently implies the political control of reproduction and the family model, including expressions of gender sexual violence. The paper discusses feminist theoretical concepts, such as the concept of gender and nation from an intersectional perspective (Yuval Davis), the idea of post colonialism and decolonization of feminism (Mohanty), and the relationship between gender and globalization (Fraser). Este artículo debate el tema de la violencia sexual contra las mujeres durante las últimas dictaduras militares en América Latina, especialmente el caso argentino y sus efectos en el ejercicio actual de los derechos sexuales. En él se analiza cómo el ejercicio de la sexualidad tiene una relación con el poder, el cual organiza, gestiona, y jerarquiza conductas según un proyecto político, social y cultural, en un contexto determinado. Lo público y lo privado, el poder y la sexualidad en relación a los conceptos de patria, clase, raza y religión, y con ello el control político de la reproducción y del modelo de familia, y de la violencia sexual. En el análisis se discuten concepciones teóricas feministas, como el concepto de género y nación desde la perspectiva interseccional de Yuval Davis, la idea de postcolonialidad y descolonización del feminismo de Mohanty, y la relación entre género y globalización de Fraser. Recent studies and reports reveal that young people have a distorted concept of gender-based violence and their tolerance towards it does not decrease. There is a context of institutional concern about prevention and eradication of gender-based violence in Spain. In this context, this paper reflects on gender-based violence in order to compare the collective adolescent-young imaginary and social messages sent by the media on this problem. We will analyze this concept based on theoretical feminist definitions, the legal national an international framework and data about the presentation of this problem on the media. We will conclude that gender-based violence is transmitted in a very simplistic and reductionist way, a way too far from feminist frameworks, so adolescents and young people find identifying and rejecting it difficult. Los últimos estudios e informes revelan que la juventud tiene un concepto distorsionado de la violencia de género y sus niveles de tolerancia hacia las agresiones violentas por razón de género no disminuyen. En un contexto de preocupación institucional por la prevención y erradicación de esta violencia, el presente trabajo reflexiona sobre el concepto de violencia de género con la finalidad de emprender una comparación entre el imaginario colectivo adolescente o joven y las conceptualizaciones y transmisiones sociales, en este caso por parte de los media, que se hacen de este problema. A partir de un estudio conceptual basado en las descripciones teóricas feministas de las violencias que sufren las mujeres, una revisión de los marcos legislativos definitorios del problema (tanto a nivel nacional como internacional) y de datos sobre su representación en los medios de comunicación, se concluye que este problema es transmitido de modo simplista y reduccionista, muy alejado de los marcos de interpretación feministas, lo que dificulta su identificación y rechazo por parte de las personas jóvenes y adolescentes. This paper reviews peripheral feminism reflections upon the need to move beyond classic gender violence studies’ epistemological assumptions. Gender-based-analysis (GBA) conceptualization represented a considerable advance in recognising patriarchy as a structural system of domination and its relevance in studying processes of violence against women. Nonetheless this approach exhibit limitations as we try to investigate further beyond simple analytical dichotomies so often deployed when discussing gender violence. Consequently we highlight the importance of relating gender to other Intersectional inequality axis such as social class, age, sexual identities different from the heteronormativity, functional diversity, ethnic group/race, or citizenship. An encompassing analytical perspective allows for a multidimensional framework more suitable for the study of such a complex phenomenon as is violence against women. In this manner we are able to visualize and analyse experiences that are usually marginalised and excluded from hegemonic definitions of gender violence. Este trabajo revisa las reflexiones de los feminismos periféricos en torno a la necesidad de avanzar sobre los presupuestos epistemológicos de los estudios de “violencia de género”. Si bien la conceptualización realizada desde los gender-based analysis (GBA) ha significado un gran avance para el reconocimiento del patriarcado como sistema de dominación estructural dentro de los procesos de la violencia contra las mujeres, este enfoque se muestra limitado frente a la superación de dicotomías analíticas que se presentan a menudo en el estudio de la violencia de género. Por ello, se propone la integración interseccional del género con otros ejes de desigualdad, como clase social, edad, identidades sexuales (distintas de la heteronormatividad), diversidad funcional, raza/etnia o ciudadanía. Esta ampliación analítica proporciona la posibilidad de un enfoque multidimensional más acorde con la complejidad del problema, contribuyendo a la visibilización y análisis de las experiencias marginalizadas y excluidas de las definiciones hegemónicas sobre la violencia de género. This paper reviews the experience and actions carried out by Asociación para la Igualdad On:Giz to promote active involvement of men in tackling gender-based violence. On:Giz is a small organisation of women and men committed to gender equality. This is not a usual academic paper, but rather a reflection on two case study examples of how to work with men in confronting gender-based violence and a call to the need of involving them in such actions because achieving women’s and men’s equality is everybody’s work. Este texto da cuenta de las experiencias que se están llevando a cabo desde la Asociación para la Igualdad On:Giz para que los hombres sean parte activa de la solución al problema de la violencia de género. On:Giz es una organización mixta pequeña, con mucho compromiso con la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres. La intencionalidad de este texto no es académica, sino dar a conocer un par de experiencias que sirvan como ejemplo de cómo se puede trabajar también con los hombres contra la violencia de género y de la necesidad de involucrar a estos, ya que la igualdad real entre mujeres y hombres se conseguirá con el trabajo de todas y todos.
