The arylation reaction of benzoquinone using aryl iodides as the arylating reagent and rongalite (hydroxymethanesulfinic acid monosodium salt dihydrate) as the super electron donor has been developed under mild conditions. The reaction conditions are optimized using 4-iodonitrobenzene and benzoquinone as the model substrates. The effects of base, solvent, reaction temperature and substrate ratio on the reaction are investigated. Results show that the optimum reaction condition is as follows: 4-iodonitrobenzene (0. 2 mmol), benzoquinone (1 mmol), rongalite (0. 4 mmol), potassium hydroxide (0. 6 mmol), DMSO (1 mL), nitrogen atmosphere, 80 ℃ 24 h. Under this condition, the yield of the target product could reach up to 82%. Other aryl iodides and quinones also show good compatibilities, affording the corresponding products in 62%~84% yields. A copper-catalyzed dual arylation of the activated carbon-carbon double bonds in N-methyl-N-phenylmethacrylamide with 3-aminoindazoles was developed. A series of cyanoarylated oxindoles were obtained in moderate to good yields via cascade radical addition and cyclization processes. The reaction is realized by the double arylation of the activated carbon-carbon double bond in the acrylamide structure, and involves the process of radical addition reaction and cyclization reaction, and the 2-indolinone skeleton structure is efficiently constructed. Notably, 2-cyanophenyl radical, derived from denitrogenative ring-opening of 3-aminoindazole was the crucial intermediate. The feature of this reaction also includes the availability of starting materials, the cleavage of two C—N bonds and the construction of two C—C bonds in one-pot. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

7-Azaindole is an important class of heterocyclic compounds with special physical and chemical properties and pharmacological properties. It is widely used in medicine, pesticides, and food. In this paper, 7-azaindole was used as a substrate to react with an aryl boric acid, providing arylated product at the C3 position under palladium catalys is. Finally, we developed palladium-catalyzed C3 arylation of 7-azaindole from unprotected 7-azaindoles, which present a concise and effective way to construct 7-azaindole derivatives.
