Network virtualization is a technology proven to be a key enabling a family of strategies in different targets, such as energy efficiency, economic revenue, network usage, adaptability or failure protection. Network virtualization allows us to adapt the needs of a network to new circumstances, resulting in greater flexibility. The allocation decisions of the demands onto the physical network resources impact the costs and the benefits. Therefore it is one of the major current problems, called virtual network embedding (VNE). Many algorithms have been proposed recently in the literature to solve the VNE problem for different targets. Due to the current successful rise of artificial intelligence, it has been widely used recently to solve technological problems. In this context, this paper investigates the requirements and analyses the use of the Q-learning algorithm for energy-efficient VNE. The traditional English teaching system has certain problems in the acquisition of teaching resources and the innovation of teaching models. In order to improve the effect of subsequent English online teaching, this paper improves the machine learning algorithm to make it a core algorithm that can be used by artificial intelligence systems. Moreover, this paper combines the WBIETS system to expand the system function, analyzes the needs of the English network teaching system, and constructs the system function modules and logical structure. The data layer, logic layer, and presentation layer in the system constructed in this paper are independent of each other and can be effectively expanded when subsequent requirements change. In addition, this paper solves the problem of acquiring English teaching resources through the WBIETS system. To evaluate the performance of the English network teaching system, this paper performs comprehensive mathematical and experimental analysis. Various industries, including engineering, media/entertainment, finance, and education, have already reaped significant benefits by incorporating AI systems into their operations. Notably, the healthcare sector has witnessed rapid growth in the utilization of AI technology. Nevertheless, there remains untapped potential for AI to truly revolutionize the industry. It is important to note that despite concerns about job displacement, AI in healthcare should not be viewed as a threat to human workers. Instead, AI systems are designed to augment and support healthcare professionals, freeing up their time to focus on more complex and critical tasks. By automating routine and repetitive tasks, AI can alleviate the burden on healthcare professionals, allowing them to dedicate more attention to patient care and meaningful interactions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is powerful, complex, ubiquitous, often opaque, sometimes invisible, and increasingly consequential in our everyday lives. Navigating the effects of AI as well as utilizing it in a responsible way requires a level of awareness, understanding, and skill that is not provided by current digital literacy or information literacy regimes. During the last years, development of open learning environments that support effectively their users has been a challenge for the research community of educational technologies. The open interactive nature of these environments results in users experiencing difficulties in coping with the plethora of available functions, especially during their initial efforts to use the system. In addition, -from the tutors' perspective- the problem solving strategies of the students are often particularly difficult to identify. In this paper, we argue that such problems could be tackled using machine learning techniques such as Bayesian Networks. We show how we can take advantage of log files obtained during field studies to build an adaptive help system providing the most useful support to the student, according to the state of interaction. On the other hand, we attempt to support the tutor, by automating the process of diagnosing students' problem solving strategies using Bayesian Networks. The presented approaches are discussed through examples of two prototypes that have been developed and corresponding evaluation studies. Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) research has aimed to achieve human-level performance in tasks that require understanding and decision making. Although major advances have been made, AI systems still struggle to achieve adaptive learning for generalization. One of the main approaches to generalization in ML is transfer learning, where previously learned knowledge is utilized to solve problems in a different, but related, domain. Another approach, pursued by cognitive scientists for several decades, has investigated the role of analogical reasoning in comparisons aimed at understanding human generalization ability. Analogical reasoning has yielded rich empirical findings and general theoretical principles underlying human analogical inference and generalization across distinctively different domains. Though seemingly similar, there are fundamental differences between the two approaches. To clarify differences and similarities, we review transfer learning algorithms, methods, and applications in comparison with work based on analogical inference. Transfer learning focuses on exploring feature spaces shared across domains through data vectorization while analogical inferences focus on identifying relational structure shared across domains via comparisons. Rather than treating these two learning approaches as synonymous or as independent and mutually irrelevant fields, a better understanding of how they are interconnected can guide a multidisciplinary synthesis of the two approaches. The main purpose of this study is to propose, then analyze, and later test a spectral gradient algorithm for solving a convex minimization problem. The considered problem covers the matrix ℓ2,1-norm regularized least squares which is widely used in multi-task learning for capturing the joint feature among each task. To solve the problem, we firstly minimize a quadratic approximated model of the objective function to derive a search direction at current iteration. We show that this direction descends automatically and reduces to the original spectral gradient direction if the regularized term is removed. Secondly, we incorporate a nonmonotone line search along this direction to improve the algorithm’s numerical performance. Furthermore, we show that the proposed algorithm converges to a critical point under some mild conditions. The attractive feature of the proposed algorithm is that it is easily performable and only requires the gradient of the smooth function and the objective function’s values at each and every step. Multilayer perceptron (MLP) and support vector machine (SVM), two popular learning machines, are increasingly being used as alternatives to classical statistical models for ground-level ozone prediction. However, employing learning machines without sufficient awareness about their limitations can lead to unsatisfactory results in modeling the ozone evolving mechanism, especially during ozone formation episodes. With the spirit of literature review and justification, this paper discusses, with respect to the concerning of ozone prediction, the recently developed algorithms/technologies for treating the most prominent model-performance-degradation limitations. MLP has the “black-box” property, i.e., it hardly provides physical explanation for the trained model, overfitting and local minima problems, and SVM has parameters identification and class imbalance problems. This commentary article aims to stress that the underlying philosophy of using learning machines is by no means as trivial as simply fitting models to the data because it causes difficulties, controversies or unresolved problems. Abstract: Clustering is a method of unsupervised learning, and a common technique for intelligent data analysis used in many fields. The enlarging volumes of information produced by the progress of technology, makes clustering of very large scale data a challenging task. Therefore, parallel processing of very large scale data set is a good solution to that problem. CLARANS is approved to be an efficient and effective clustering method for spatial data mining. It is insensitive to outliers and has the advantage of processing category data directly compared to other partition method like K-means. However, it is a serial algorithm and cannot process large scale data set efficiently. In this paper, we propose a parallel CLARANS clustering algorithm based on MapReduce, which is a current and powerful parallel programming framework. Experimental results demonstrate that the parallel CLARANS algorithm can handle large scale data set efficiently and effectively. As an emerging field that aims to bridge the gap between human activities and computing systems, human-centered computing (HCC) in cloud, edge, fog has had a huge impact on the artificial intelligence algorithms. The quantum generative adversarial network (QGAN) is considered to be one of the quantum machine learning algorithms with great application prospects, which also should be improved to conform to the human-centered paradigm. The generation process of QGAN is relatively random and the generated model does not conform to the human-centered concept, so it is not quite suitable for real scenarios. In order to solve these problems, a hybrid quantum-classical conditional generative adversarial network (QCGAN) algorithm is proposed, which is a knowledge-driven human–computer interaction computing mode that can be implemented in cloud. The purposes of stabilizing the generation process and realizing the interaction between human and computing process are achieved by inputting artificial conditional information in the generator and discriminator. The generator uses the parameterized quantum circuit with an all-to-all connected topology, which facilitates the tuning of network parameters during the training process. The discriminator uses the classical neural network, which effectively avoids the "input bottleneck" of quantum machine learning. Finally, the BAS training set is selected to conduct experiment on the quantum cloud computing platform. The result shows that the QCGAN algorithm can effectively converge to the Nash equilibrium point after training and perform human-centered classification generation tasks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Throughout recent times, cybersecurity problems have occurred in various business applications. Although previous researchers proposed to cope with the occurrence of cybersecurity issues, their methods repeatedly replicated the training processes for several times to classify datasets of these problems in streaming non-stationary environments. In dynamic environments, the conventional methods possibly deteriorate the adaptive solution to prevent these issues. This research proposes a one-pass-throw-away learning using the dynamical structure of the network to solve these problems in dynamic environments. Furthermore, to speed up the computational time and to maintain a minimum space complexity for streaming data, the new concepts of learning in forms of recursive functions were introduced. The information gain-based feature selection was also applied to reduce the learning time during the training process. The experimental results signified that the proposed algorithm outperformed the others in incremental-like and online ensemble learning algorithms in terms of classification accuracy, space complexity, and computational time. Discriminating between black and white spruce (Picea mariana and Picea glauca) is a difficult palynological classification problem that, if solved, would provide valuable data for paleoclimate reconstructions. We developed an open-source visual recognition software (ARLO, Automated Recognition with Layered Optimization) capable of differentiating between these two species at an accuracy on par with human experts. The system applies pattern recognition and machine learning to the analysis of pollen images and discovers general-purpose image features, defined by simple features of lines and grids of pixels taken at different dimensions, size, spacing, and resolution. It adapts to a given problem by searching for the most effective combination of both feature representation and learning strategy. This results in a powerful and flexible framework for image classification. We worked with images acquired using an automated slide scanner. We first applied a hash-based “pollen spotting” model to segment pollen grains from the slide background. We next tested ARLO’s ability to reconstruct black to white spruce pollen ratios using artificially constructed slides of known ratios. We then developed a more scalable hash-based method of image analysis that was able to distinguish between the pollen of black and white spruce with an estimated accuracy of 83.61%, comparable to human expert performance. Our results demonstrate the capability of machine learning systems to automate challenging taxonomic classifications in pollen analysis, and our success with simple image representations suggests that our approach is generalizable to many other object recognition problems.
