Wearable devices equipped with a multitude of compact, lightweight, biometric sensors are helpful in tracking the real-time physiological data for healthcare-related analysis. However, a survey of devices under the smart-wearable market segment revealed that the contemporary focus is limited to capturing and displaying some of the biometrics like pulse rate, movement of the user, calorie counter, etc. on a smart screen. Employing machine learning techniques can be particularly helpful in analyzing the trends of user-specific biometric data for pre-emptive actions. This paper presents a meaningful analysis in real-time by using machine learning approaches to interpret this physiological data and alert the user about his behavioral pattern through IoT. This research focuses on classifying the mood of the user as agitated or non-agitated, by analyzing the biometrics to help the user decipher meaningful conclusions and take suitable pre-emptive measures to refrain from any unintentional impulsive outburst. Machine learning algorithms like Polynomial regression with threshold, Decision Tree, Random Forest ensemble and variants of Deep Neural Networks (DNN) have been employed to analyse the biometric patterns from the experimental data acquired under different circumstances and detect the user's mood to assign a score to the user. The proposed approach uses a reinforcement learning algorithm to calibrate the user's current temperament by taking intermediate user feedback and comparing the score with the temperament. In this paper, a spiking neural network (SNN) has been proposed for recognizing the digits written on the LCD screen of an experimental setup. The convergence of the learning algorithm has been ensured by using sliding mode control (SMC) theory and the Lyapunov stability method for the adaptation of the network parameters. The spike response model (SRM) has been utilized in the design of the SNN. The performance of the proposed learning scheme has been evaluated both on the experimental data and on the MNIST dataset. The simulated and experimental results of the SNN structure have been compared with the responses of a conventional neural network (ANN) for which the weight update rules have been also derived using SMC theory. The conducted simulations and experimental studies reveal that convergence can be ensured for the proposed learning scheme and the SNN yields higher recognition accuracy compared to a conventional ANN. Demand forecasting and studying the behavior of customers is of high importance. Without accurate planning for the future, organizations might risk their future. In other words, failure to have reliable planning for the future increases organizational expenses and, in turn, increases production costs, which leads to a higher end-price of goods (services). Forecasting demand in the supply chain follows the same rule. In this paper, the level of customer demand in the chicken meat industry has been studied. Considering that the relationship between the decision variables is more linear or non-linear, artificial neural networks are used to analyze the data to overcome this challenge. The approach used in this study includes the combination of time series and artificial neural networks. After analyzing the data for a period of 120 days for 24 selected chicken meat stores located in the city of Arak (Iran), the future demand for each store has been determined. Forecasted demands are reported as triangular fuzzy numbers. The results showed that stores number 4 and 24 have the lowest and highest demand, respectively. Some diseases are known to cause or coincide with volume changes of certain structures in the body. Since these changes can be used to identify diseases, in this paper, we aimed to discover such new correlations. To this end, we trained a machine learning model based on the TotalSegmentator model on computed tomography (CT) image data, to segment 104 anatomical structures, while trying to improve the accuracy of the model. We then used the model to segment CT scans of decedents who had at least one of 18 diseases. After correlating the structure volumes with disease occurrences, a possible new correlation between chronic artery failure and iliac artery volume was found and others were confirmed. In this paper, we have designed an artificial neural network architecture to produce metric field of planar BTZ and quintessence black holes applying a data-driven approach andleveraging holography principle (according to AdS/DL (Anti de Sitter/Deep Learning) correspondence given by [1]). Data has been collected by choosing minimally coupled massive scalar field with quantum fluctuations and we try to process two emergent and ground-truth metrics versus the holographic parameter which plays the role of depth of the neural network. Loss or error function which shows rate of deviation of these two metrics in presence of penalty regularization term reaches to its minimum value when values of the learning rate approach to the observed steepest gradient point. Values of the regularization or penalty term of the quantum scalar field has critical role to matching this two mentioned metric. Also, we design an algorithm which helps us to find optimum value for learning parameter and finally, we understand that loss function convergence heavily depends on the number of epochs and learning rate. Artificial intelligence (AI) systems utilizing deep neural networks and machine learning (ML) algorithms are widely used for solving critical problems in bioinformatics, biomedical informatics and precision medicine. However, complex ML models that are often perceived as opaque and black-box methods make it difficult to understand the reasoning behind their decisions. This lack of transparency can be a challenge for both end-users and decision-makers, as well as AI developers. In sensitive areas such as healthcare, explainability and accountability are not only desirable properties but also legally required for AI systems that can have a significant impact on human lives. Fairness is another growing concern, as algorithmic decisions should not show bias or discrimination towards certain groups or individuals based on sensitive attributes. Explainable AI (XAI) aims to overcome the opaqueness of black-box models and to provide transparency in how AI systems make decisions. Interpretable ML models can explain how they make predictions and identify factors that influence their outcomes. However, the majority of the state-of-the-art interpretable ML methods are domain-agnostic and have evolved from fields such as computer vision, automated reasoning or statistics, making direct application to bioinformatics problems challenging without customization and domain adaptation. In this paper, we discuss the importance of explainability and algorithmic transparency in the context of bioinformatics. We provide an overview of model-specific and model-agnostic interpretable ML methods and tools and outline their potential limitations. We discuss how existing interpretable ML methods can be customized and fit to bioinformatics research problems. Further, through case studies in bioimaging, cancer genomics and text mining, we demonstrate how XAI methods can improve transparency and decision fairness. We have developed tactile sensor systems for next‐generation robots. To install a large number of tactile sensors, we have proposed micro electro mechanical systems‐large‐scale integration (MEMS‐LSI) integrated tactile sensors. The integrated device has the following features: capacitive type three‐axis force sensing, embedded diode‐based temperature sensing, signal processing for sensing data digitalization, and event‐driven response for efficient serial bus communication. This paper demonstrates a sensor array system as up‐to 40 integrated tactile sensors which are connected on one bus line. After acquiring the sensing data from the sensor array system, we applied a machine learning technique for target object judgment. The objective of the judgment is to classify the targets into normal object and abnormal object. With the sensor array system, data preprocessing and tuned Recurrent Neural network (RNN)/Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) neural network models, we achieved high‐accuracy, high‐precision, and high‐recall scores for the experiment of the judgment. Neural networks implemented in memristor-based hardware can provide fast and efficient in-memory computation, but traditional learning methods such as error back-propagation are hardly feasible in it. Spiking neural networks (SNNs) are highly promising in this regard, as their weights can be changed locally in a self-organized manner without the demand for high-precision changes calculated with the use of information almost from the entire network. This problem is rather relevant for solving control tasks with neural-network reinforcement learning methods, as those are highly sensitive to any source of stochasticity in a model initialization, training, or decision-making procedure. This paper presents an online reinforcement learning algorithm in which the change of connection weights is carried out after processing each environment state during interaction-with-environment data generation. Another novel feature of the algorithm is that it is applied to SNNs with memristor-based STDP-like learning rules. The plasticity functions are obtained from real memristors based on poly-p-xylylene and CoFeB-LiNbO 3 nanocomposite, which were experimentally assembled and analyzed. The SNN is comprised of leaky integrate-and-fire neurons. Environmental states are encoded by the timings of input spikes, and the control action is decoded by the first spike. The proposed learning algorithm solves the Cart-Pole benchmark task successfully. This result could be the first step towards implementing a real-time agent learning procedure in a continuous-time environment that can be run on neuromorphic systems with memristive synapses. Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) help achieve brain-like efficiency and functionality by building neurons and synapses that mimic the human brain's transmission of electrical signals. However, optimal SNN implementation requires a precise balance of parametric values. To design such ubiquitous neural networks, a graphical tool for visualizing, analyzing, and explaining the internal behavior of spikes is crucial. Although some popular SNN simulators are available, these tools do not allow users to interact with the neural network during simulation. To this end, we have introduced the first runtime interactive simulator, called Runtime Analyzing and Visualization Simulator (RAVSim), developed to analyze and dynamically visualize the behavior of SNNs, allowing end-users to interact, observe output concentration reactions, and make changes directly during the simulation. In this paper, we present RAVSim with the current implementation of runtime interaction using the LIF neural model with different connectivity schemes, an image classification model using SNNs, and a dataset creation feature. Our main objective is to primarily investigate binary classification using SNNs with RGB images. We created a feed-forward network using the LIF neural model for an image classification algorithm and evaluated it by using RAVSim. The algorithm classifies faces with and without masks, achieving an accuracy of 91.8% using 1000 neurons in a hidden layer, 0.0758 MSE, and an execution time of ∼10 min on the CPU. The experimental results show that using RAVSim not only increases network design speed but also accelerates user learning capability. Many "Industry 4.0" applications rely on data-driven methodologies such as Machine Learning and Deep Learning to enable automatic tasks and implement smart factories. Among these applications, the automatic quality control of manufacturing materials is of utmost importance to achieve precision and standardization in production. In this regard, most of the related literature focused on combining Deep Learning with Nondestructive Testing techniques, such as Infrared Thermography, requiring dedicated settings to detect and classify defects in composite materials. Instead, the research described in this paper aims at understanding whether deep neural networks and transfer learning can be applied to plain images to classify surface defects in carbon look components made with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers used in the automotive sector. To this end, we collected a database of images from a real case study, with 400 images to test binary classification (defect vs. no defect) and 1500 for the multiclass classification (components with no defect vs. recoverable vs. non-recoverable). We developed and tested ten deep neural networks as classifiers, comparing ten different pre-trained CNNs as feature extractors. Specifically, we evaluated VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50 version 2, ResNet101 version 2, ResNet152 version 2, Inception version 3, MobileNet version 2, NASNetMobile, DenseNet121, and Xception, all pre-trainined with ImageNet, combined with fully connected layers to act as classifiers. The best classifier, i.e., the network based on DenseNet121, achieved a 97% accuracy in classifying components with no defects, recoverable components, and non-recoverable components, demonstrating the viability of the proposed methodology to classify surface defects from images taken with a smartphone in varying conditions, without the need for dedicated settings. In this paper, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) combined with a probabilistic neural network (PNN) was applied to classify engineering structural metal samples (valve stem, welding material, and base metal). Additionally, utilizing data from the plasma emission spectrum generated by laser ablation of samples with different aging times, an aging time prediction model based on a firefly optimized probabilistic neural network (FA-PNN) was established, which can effectively evaluate the service performance of structural materials. The problem of insufficient features obtained by principal component analysis (PCA) for predicting the aging time of materials is addressed by the proposal of a time-frequency feature extraction method based on short-time Fourier transform (STFT). The classification accuracy (ACC) of time-frequency features and principal component features was compared under PNN. The results indicate that, in comparison to the PCA feature extraction approach, the time-frequency feature extraction method based on STFT demonstrates higher accuracy in predicting the time of aging materials. Then, the relationship between classification accuracy (ACC) and settings of PNN was discussed. The ACC of the PNN model for both the material classification test set and the aging time test set achieved 100% with Firefly (FA) optimization algorithms. This result was also compared with the ACC of ANN, KNN, PLS-DA, and SIMCA for the aging time test set (95%, 87.5%, 85%, and 62.5%, respectively). Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) are widely regarded as the most effective learning tool for dealing with large datasets, and they have been successfully used in thousands of applications in a variety of fields. Based on these large datasets, they are trained to learn the relationships between various variables. The adaptive moment estimation (Adam) algorithm, a highly efficient adaptive optimization algorithm, is widely used as a learning algorithm in various fields for training DNN models. However, it needs to improve its generalization performance, especially when training with large-scale datasets. Therefore, in this paper, we propose HN Adam, a modified version of the Adam Algorithm, to improve its accuracy and convergence speed. The HN_Adam algorithm is modified by automatically adjusting the step size of the parameter updates over the training epochs. This automatic adjustment is based on the norm value of the parameter update formula according to the gradient values obtained during the training epochs. Furthermore, a hybrid mechanism was created by combining the standard Adam algorithm and the AMSGrad algorithm. As a result of these changes, the HN_Adam algorithm, like the stochastic gradient descent (SGD) algorithm, has good generalization performance and achieves fast convergence like other adaptive algorithms. To test the proposed HN_Adam algorithm performance, it is evaluated to train a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) model that classifies images using two different standard datasets: MNIST and CIFAR-10. The algorithm results are compared to the basic Adam algorithm and the SGD algorithm, in addition to other five recent SGD adaptive algorithms. In most comparisons, the HN Adam algorithm outperforms the compared algorithms in terms of accuracy and convergence speed. AdaBelief is the most competitive of the compared algorithms. In terms of testing accuracy and convergence speed (represented by the consumed training time), the HN-Adam algorithm outperforms the AdaBelief algorithm by an improvement of 1.0% and 0.29% for the MNIST dataset, and 0.93% and 1.68% for the CIFAR-10 dataset, respectively. This review paper explores the role of human taste panels and artificial neural networks (ANNs) in taste-masking paediatric drug formulations. Given the ethical, practical, and regulatory challenges of employing children, young adults (18–40) can serve as suitable substitutes due to the similarity in their taste sensitivity. Taste panellists need not be experts in sensory evaluation so long as a reference product is used during evaluation; however, they should be screened for bitterness taste detection thresholds. For a more robust evaluation during the developmental phase, considerations of a scoring system and the calculation of an acceptance value may be beneficial in determining the likelihood of recommending a formulation for further development. On the technological front, artificial neural networks (ANNs) can be exploited in taste-masking optimisation of medicinal formulations as they can model complex relationships between variables and enable predictions not possible previously to optimise product profiles. Machine learning classifiers may therefore tackle the challenge of predicting the bitterness intensity of paediatric formulations. While advancements have been made, further work is needed to identify effective taste-masking techniques for specific drug molecules. Continuous refinement of machine learning algorithms, using human panellist acceptability scores, can aid in enhancing paediatric formulation development and overcoming taste-masking challenges. This paper is devoted to the determination of the coefficient of friction (COF) in the drawbead region in metal forming processes. As the test material, AW-5251 aluminium alloys sheets fabricated under various hardening conditions (AW-5251-O, AW-5251-H14, AW-5251-H16 and AW-5251H22) were used. The sheets were tested using a drawbead simulator with different countersample roughness and different orientations of the specimens in relation to the sheet rolling direction. A drawbead simulator was designed to model the friction conditions when the sheet metal passed through the drawbead in sheet metal forming. The experimental tests were carried out under conditions of dry friction and lubrication of the sheet metal surfaces with three lubricants: machine oil, hydraulic oil, and engine oil. Based on the results of the experimental tests, the value of the COF was determined. The Random Forest (RF) machine learning algorithm and artificial neural networks (ANNs) were used to identify the parameters affecting the COF. The R statistical package software version 4.1.0 was used for running the RF model and neural network. The relative importance of the inputs was analysed using 12 different activation functions in ANNs and nine different loss functions in the RF. Based on the experimental tests, it was concluded that the COF for samples cut along the sheet rolling direction was greater than for samples cut in the transverse direction. However, the COF's most relevant input was oil viscosity (0.59), followed by the average counter sample roughness Ra (0.30) and the yield stress Rp0.2 and strength coefficient K (0.05 and 0.06, respectively). The hard sigmoid activation function had the poorest R2 (0.25) and nRMSE (0.30). The ideal run was found after training and testing the RF model (R2 = 0.90 ± 0.028). Ra values greater than 1.1 and Rp0.2 values between 105 and 190 resulted in a decreased COF. The COF values dropped to 9–35 for viscosity and 105–190 for Rp0.2, with a gap between 110 and 130 when the oil viscosity was added. The COF was low when the oil viscosity was 9–35, and the Ra was 0.95–1.25. The interaction between K and the other inputs, which produces a relatively limited range of reduced COF values, was the least relevant. The COF was reduced by setting the Rp0.2 between 105 and 190, the Ra between 0.95 and 1.25, and the oil viscosity between 9 and 35. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the era of artificial intelligence, trained neural network models have become new products of the information age. Most of machine learning strategies currently used to train neural networks are supervised learning, and thus, training data with labels become new intellectual capital (IC). Due to commercial confidentiality, data cannot be shared directly among information companies, which in turn prevents them from integrating resources to train better models. We need a framework that encrypts neural network models trained on the data and provides certain model exchange rewards that can be used to incentivize data sharing and to protect intellectual property (IP) and privacy of intellectual capital. Currently, federated learning provides a framework to train neural networks without compromising privacy, while block chain–based trading systems can attract other participants through a reward mechanism set by smart contracts. In this paper, we propose a block chain–based federated learning algorithm that enables reliable data sharing while protecting data from leakage, and design smart contracts based on the incentive mechanism of Shapley Values to reward data providers. Naturalistic driving data (NDS), collected from fitted vehicles with multiple sensors, including cameras, is a rich source to understand how drivers become distracted. However, detecting the distraction events traditionally required watching NDS videos which is expensive and time-consuming. Adopting state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to automate distraction detection using videos will save effort and money. Reducing/annotating a random sample of the videos and using it to train a machine learning model to carry out the data reduction for the rest of the dataset is possible. This paper investigates the feasibility of using pre-trained deep neural networks and random forest to detect driver distraction in the Australian Naturalistic Driving Study (ANDS) video data. The pre-trained model was fine-tuned using transfer learning; therefore, it can be used to classify (i.e. distracted/non-distracted) successive frames independently. To capture the time dependency between the consecutive images/frame during the training phase, we converted the 1-D output probability of the fine-tuned model into a higher dimension space. The distraction probability of each frame at a time is transformed into a vector by concatenating the distraction output probabilities of all frames within a time window centred at time. Moreover, the vector centred at the time was assigned the actual label of the frame at this time. Then we used Random Forest (RF) classifier to model the non-linear relationship between the probabilities in this new space and the distracted/non-distracted labels. This proposed framework was trained using some ANDS trips and tested using another set of trips. When applied to the dashboard camera, the proposed framework achieved 0.609, 0.218 and 0.325 for the true positive rate (TPR), the false positive rate (FPR), and the precision, respectively. Moreover, the face camera achieved 0.748, 0.344 and 0.651 for TPR, the FPR and the precision, respectively. Over the years, Machine Learning models have been successfully employed on neuroimaging data for accurately predicting brain age. Deviations from the healthy brain aging pattern are associated with the accelerated brain aging and brain abnormalities. Hence, efficient and accurate diagnosis techniques are required to elicit accurate brain age estimations. Several contributions have been reported in the past for this purpose, resorting to different data-driven modeling methods. Recently, deep neural networks (also referred to as deep learning) have become prevalent in manifold neuroimaging studies, including brain age estimation. In this review, we offer a comprehensive analysis of the literature related to the adoption of deep learning for brain age estimation with neuroimaging data. We detail and analyze different deep learning architectures used for this application, pausing at research works published to date quantitatively exploring their application. We also examine different brain age estimation frameworks, comparatively exposing their advantages and weaknesses. Finally, the review concludes with an outlook towards future directions that should be followed by prospective studies. Machine learning (ML), artificial neural networks (ANNs), and deep learning (DL) are all topics that fall under the heading of artificial intelligence (AI) and have gained popularity in recent years. ML involves the application of algorithms to automate decision-making processes using models that have not been manually programmed but have been trained on data. ANNs that are a part of ML aim to simulate the structure and function of the human brain. DL, on the other hand, uses multiple layers of interconnected neurons. This enables the processing and analysis of large and complex databases. In medicine, these techniques are being introduced to improve the speed and efficiency of disease diagnosis and treatment. Each of the AI techniques presented in the paper is supported with an example of a possible medical application. Given the rapid development of technology, the use of AI in medicine shows promising results in the context of patient care. It is particularly important to keep a close eye on this issue and conduct further research in order to fully explore the potential of ML, ANNs, and DL, and bring further applications into clinical use in the future. A major source of risk in green building projects (GBPs) is inaccurate human prediction of the final project cost and duration, which in turn results in cost and schedule overruns (i.e., poor project performance). This paper presents promising new models to mitigate such risk based upon machine learning (ML). Historical data from 198 GBPs in Hong Kong were used to develop and train two fully connected deep neural networks (DNN) models to learn and predict cost and duration, respectively, based on green building rating (GBR) and other project parameters. The models can predict cost and duration with mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) values of 0.07 and 0.09, respectively. They were then integrated with support vector regression (SVR), and results indicated that the integrated DNN-SVR models improve prediction accuracy, decreasing the MAPE from 0.07 to 0.06 (cost) and 0.09 to 0.07 (duration), respectively. The validated models were for the first time deployed as a ML-based web application for automated, fast, and accurate GBP cost and duration prediction. The feature importance analysis results revealed that the most influential parameters on the GBP cost and duration are project area and weather, respectively, not the GBR. Theoretically, the outcomes of this study provide new insights into the impact of GBR on project cost and duration, which are useful for the promotion of GBPs to improve sustainability. Practically, the study provides policymakers and practitioners with novel ML-based models and a web application to improve GBP delivery performance. Green building projects help to combat climate change and improve our health, wellbeing, and quality of life, but they face two key challenges in their execution: cost overruns and schedule delays. To address these challenges, there is a need for accurate prediction of the final project cost and duration from the early stages of the project. The practical relevance of this study is in the development of the first data-driven and machine learning-based web application for addressing this need. New integrated optimized machine learning models are developed. For practitioners to have access to and use these models without the need to possess machine learning expertise, a corresponding easy-to-use web application is offered. From the design and construction stages of their project, practitioners only need to input the green building ratings in sustainable site, materials and waste, energy use, water use, health and wellbeing, and innovations and additions they want to achieve for the project. The project type and area (type and size), original budget, planned duration, and start month (SM) and year should also be input. Once this project data input is completed, the web application automatically and instantaneously predicts with a high level of accuracy the total costs and time needed to deliver the project successfully—on time and on budget. Accurately predicting fuel blends' lower heating values (LHV) is crucial for optimizing a power plant. In this paper, we employ multiple artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning‐based models for predicting the LHV of various fuel blends. Coal of two different ranks and two types of biomass is used in this study. One was the South African imported bituminous coal, and the other was lignite thar coal extracted from the Thar Coal Block‐2 mine by Sind Engro Coal Mining Company, Pakistan. Two types of biomass, that is, sugarcane bagasse and rice husk, were obtained locally from a sugar mill and rice mill located in the vicinity of Sahiwal, Punjab. Bituminous coal mixture with other coal types and both types of biomass are used with 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% weight fractions, respectively. The calculation and model development procedure resulted in 91 different AI‐based models. The best is the Ridge Regressor, a high‐level end‐to‐end approach for fitting the model. It is well known that the computational cost of classic topology optimization (TO) methods increases rapidly with the size of the design problem because of the high-dimensional numerical simulation required at each iteration. Recently, the technical route of replacing the TO process with artificial neural network (ANN) models has gained popularity. These ANN models, once trained, can rapidly produce an optimized design solution for a given design specification. However, the complex mapping relationship between design specifications and corresponding optimized structures presents challenges in the construction of neural networks with good generalizability. In this paper, we propose a new design framework that uses deep learning techniques to accelerate the TO process. Specifically, we present an efficient topology optimization (ETO) framework in which structure update at each iteration is conducted on a coarse scale and a structure mapping neural network (SMapNN) is constructed to map the updated coarse structure to its corresponding fine structure. As such, fine-scale numerical simulations are replaced by coarse-scale simulations, thereby greatly reducing the computational cost. In addition, fragmentation and padding strategies are used to improve the trainability and adaptability of SMapNN, leading to a better generalizability. The efficiency and accuracy of the proposed ETO framework are verified using both benchmark and complex design tasks. In this paper, we present a new method for Lane Detection (LD) to reduce the impact of some issues associated with Autonomous Driving Cars (ADCs). It relies on the fact that self-driving will be the getaway of the transportation future. The ADC technology has expanded as it does not require human assistance. For ACD to be fully utilized, Machine Learning (ML) tools, such as Deep Neural Networks (DNNs), are required. However, ACD technology uses tools like a camera, GPS, Ultrasonic Sensor (US), and others, which work together to produce accurate ACDs. While adopting ACD, several issues need to be addressed such as carves, blurry, unclean, shadow, sunlight, pedestrians, and weather conditions. The paper proposes a new method to detect when a portion of a road line is missing due to weather conditions or old marking, protecting pedestrians and cars. For lane detection, the DNN model and Hough transform are used. CULane datasets including training and testing samples were used in the experiments. Modelling source water quality in drinking water treatment systems could be useful for anticipating changes in specific raw water quality parameters. Those changes entail adjustments in drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) operations. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been used for modelling water quality for different purposes and has yielded reliable results. However, there has not yet been wide investigation of raw water quality modelling for treatment purposes using AI. For the first time, in this critical review, we analyzed AI models founded on machine learning techniques that are used for surface water quality modelling and which could be applied in the domain of source water treatment. In a novel approach, we convened an expert panel that helped us define the appropriate criteria for use in the selection of the papers for review. We analysed the selected papers according to several criteria, including the feasibility of input data generation, the modelled data applicability and the benefits and limitations. We evaluated whether the selected models could be applied to forecast raw water quality as decision support systems (DSS) in drinking water treatment. The highest rated were turbidity hourly models based on Support Vector Machines (SVM), as well as daily turbidity and pH models based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). We found there is a shortage of models used to specifically estimate raw water quality, which could assist in DSS at DWTPs. Airborne radars are susceptible to a large number of clutter, noise and variable jamming signals in the real environment, especially when faced with active main lobe jamming, as the waveform shortcut technology in the traditional regime can no longer meet the actual battlefield radar anti-jamming requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to study anti-main-lobe jamming techniques for airborne radars in complex environments to improve their battlefield survivability. In this paper, we propose an airborne radar waveform design method based on a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm under clutter and jamming conditions, after previous research on reinforcement-learning (RL)-based airborne radar anti-jamming waveform design methods that have improved the anti-jamming performance of airborne radars. The method uses a Markov decision process (MDP) to describe the complex operating environment of airborne radars, calculates the value of the radar anti-jamming waveform strategy under various jamming states using deep neural networks and designs the optimal anti-jamming waveform strategy for airborne radars based on the duelling double deep Q network (D3QN) algorithm. In addition, the method uses an iterative transformation method (ITM) to generate the time domain signals of the optimal waveform strategy. Simulation results show that the airborne radar waveform designed based on the deep reinforcement learning algorithm proposed in this paper improves the signal-to-jamming plus noise ratio (SJNR) by 2.08 dB and 3.03 dB, and target detection probability by 26.79% and 44.25%, respectively, compared with the waveform designed based on the reinforcement learning algorithm and the conventional linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal at a radar transmit power of 5 W. A new adsorbent was prepared from municipal wastes (a mixture of Corn Stover, Paper Waste, and Yard Waste) by cationization with 3 ̶ Chloro ̶ 2 ̶ Hydroxypropyl Trimethylammonium Chloride. The FTIR spectrum confirmed the quaternary ammonium group's presence on the adsorbent surface (1450 cm−1). The maximum adsorption capacity (148 mg/g) was higher than the earlier reported values. Liu isotherm described well the adsorption process, with a high R2 adj value (0.997). The pseudo-first-order equation fits well for kinetic data, and thermodynamic experiments demonstrated the endothermic nature of the adsorption. The deep neural network (DNN) is applied to simulate the adsorption process, which outperformed the classical machine learning and shallow neural network models. The DNN model predicted accurately the adsorption process with the lowest deviation from the actual values with Mean Absolute Error (MAE = 3.2), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE = 4.89), and the highest performance accuracy of R2 (0.96) as compared to various classical ML algorithms such as Linear Regressions (MAE = 12.53, RMSE = 18.01, R2 = 0.42), Random Forest (MAE = 5.81, RMSE = 10.05, R2 = 0.82), and Extra Trees (MAE = 4.35, RMSE = 8.22, R2 = 0.88). This paper serves as a survey of recent advances in large margin training and its theoretical foundations, mostly for (nonlinear) deep neural networks (DNNs) that are probably the most prominent machine learning models for large-scale data in the community over the past decade. We generalize the formulation of classification margins from classical research to latest DNNs, summarize theoretical connections between the margin, network generalization, and robustness, and introduce recent efforts in enlarging the margins for DNNs comprehensively. Since the viewpoint of different methods is discrepant, we categorize them into groups for ease of comparison and discussion in the paper. Hopefully, our discussions and overview inspire new research work in the community that aim to improve the performance of DNNs, and we also point to directions where the large margin principle can be verified to provide theoretical evidence why certain regularizations for DNNs function well in practice. In this paper, 1,538 papers retrieved with the keywords "sports artificial intelligence (AI)" on the Web of Science database since 2007 were taken as the data source, and the Cite Space V software was used to visualize and analyze them. A visual knowledge graph was used to streamline the countries, institutions and authors conducting sports AI research, discipline distribution, research hotspots and development trends in the past 15 years. Subsequently, its development direction and research progress were discussed. Sports AI was widely distributed, with the US, China and the UK leading the way. The most prolific authors and teams in research on sports AI were concentrated in American universities. Their main research direction is to develop and improve smart wearable devices based on machine learning and deep learning technologies for different groups of people. Research on sports AI involved multiple disciplines, which mainly applied and referred to research methodologies and theories on engineering, computer science and sports science. It could be seen from the frequency and centrality of keywords that in the current field of sports AI, machine learning is the main direction, artificial neural networks is the main algorithm, and practical and empirical research based on data mining is the focus. The research hotspots were divided into three major clusters: physical health promotion, sports injury prevention and control, and athletic performance enhancement. How to introduce intelligent technology into sports for a perfect integration still has an arduous and long way to go. Contextual representation recommendation directly uses contextual prefiltering technology when processing user contextual data, which is not the integration of context and model in the true sense. To this end, this paper proposes a context-aware recommendation model based on probability matrix factorization. We design a music genre style recognition and generation network. In this network, all the sub-networks of music genres share the explanation layer, which can greatly reduce the learning of model parameters and improve the learning efficiency. Each music genre sub-network analyzes music of different genres, realizing the effect of multitasking simultaneous processing. In this paper, a music style recognition method using a combination of independent recurrent neural network and scattering transform is proposed. The relevant characteristics of traditional audio processing methods are analyzed, and their suitable application scenarios and inapplicability in this task scenario are expounded. Starting from the principle of scattering transform, the superiority and rationality of using scattering transform in this task are explained. This paper proposes a music style recognition method combining two strategies of scattering transform and independent recurrent neural network. In the case that the incremental data set is all labeled, this paper introduces the solution of the convex hull vector, which reduces the training time of the initial sample. According to the error push strategy, an incremental learning algorithm based on convex hull vector and error push strategy is proposed, which can effectively filter historical useful information and at the same time eliminate useless information in new samples. Experiments show that this method improves the accuracy of music style recognition to a certain extent. The paper conducts a literature review of applications of autoregressive methods to short-term forecasting of power demand. This need is dictated by the advancement of modern forecasting methods and their achievement in good forecasting efficiency in particular. The annual effectiveness of forecasting power demand for the Polish National Power Grid for the next day is approx. 1%; therefore, the main objective of the review is to verify whether it is possible to improve efficiency while maintaining the minimum financial outlays and time-consuming efforts. The methods that fulfil these conditions are autoregressive methods; therefore, the paper focuses on autoregressive methods, which are less time-consuming and, as a result, cheaper in development and applications. The prepared review ranks the forecasting models in terms of the forecasting effectiveness achieved in the literature on the subject, which enables the selection of models that may improve the currently achieved effectiveness of the transmission system operator. Due to the applied approach, a transparent set of forecasting methods and models was obtained, in addition to knowledge about their potential in the context of the needs for short-term forecasting of electricity demand in the national power system. The articles in which the MAPE error was used to assess the quality of short-term forecasts were analyzed. The investigation included 47 articles, several dozen forecasting methods, and 264 forecasting models. The articles date from 1997 and, apart from the autoregressive methods, also include the methods and models that use explanatory variables (non-autoregressive ones). The input data used come from the period 1998–2014. The analysis included 25 power systems located on four continents (Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia) that were published by 44 different research teams. The results of the review show that in the autoregressive methods applied to forecasting short-term power demand, there is a potential to improve forecasting effectiveness in power systems. The most promising prognostic models using the autoregressive approach, based on the review, include Fuzzy Logic, Artificial Neural Networks, Wavelet Artificial Neural Networks, Adaptive Neurofuse Inference Systems, Genetic Algorithms, Fuzzy Regression, and Data Envelope Analysis. These methods make it possible to achieve the efficiency of short-term forecasting of electricity demand with hourly resolution at the level below 1%, which confirms the assumption made by the authors about the potential of autoregressive methods. Other forecasting models, the effectiveness of which is high, may also prove useful in forecasting by electricity system operators. Since 2000, the real estate industry has experienced rapid development, and at the same time, it has driven the rapid growth of housing prices, and the trend of housing prices has attracted attention. This paper integrates genetic algorithm and particle swarm algorithm to optimize BP neural network, and establishes a housing price prediction model based on mixed genetic particle swarm BP neural network. The average data of housing prices in Chongqing, China from 2000 to 2020 and several main factors affecting the trend of housing prices were selected as experimental data. Through the training and simulation prediction based on the mixed particle swarm BP neural network, the error between the predicted value and the actual value was within 0.5%, the validity and accuracy of the model are proved. Two participants with competing objectives are considered in one-to-one orbital pursuit-evasion problem, one of which attempts to satisfy some certain terminal conditions with a minimum cost through its own control while the other player attempts to maximize the specified payoff and avoids entering this terminal range. This paper treats the problem of minimax time to a given final distance, within which the interception between pursuer and evader is defined to occur. To achieve the successful interception with an evader that adopts any unknown maneuvers, a near-optimal interception strategy for the orbital pursuit-evasion is presented in this paper. The pursuit-evasion problem is formulated as a differential game first, and a closed-form barrier solution is provided next. A near-optimal guidance law using deep learning is proposed to intercept the evader inside the capture zone. For the games that start outside the barrier, a learning algorithm for the capture zone embedding strategy is presented based on deep reinforcement learning to help the game state cross the barrier surfaces. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is an eye condition that mainly affects individuals who have diabetes and is one of the important causes of blindness in adults. As the infection progresses, it may lead to permanent loss of vision. Diagnosing diabetic retinopathy manually with the help of an ophthalmologist has been a tedious and a very laborious procedure. This paper not only focuses on diabetic retinopathy detection but also on the analysis of different DR stages, which is performed with the help of Deep Learning (DL) and transfer learning algorithms. CNN, hybrid CNN with ResNet, hybrid CNN with DenseNet are used on a huge dataset with around 3662 train images to automatically detect which stage DR has progressed. Five DR stages, which are 0 (No DR), 1 (Mild DR), 2 (Moderate), 3 (Severe) and 4 (Proliferative DR) are processed in the proposed work. The patient's eye images are fed as input to the model. The proposed deep learning architectures like CNN, hybrid CNN with ResNet, hybrid CNN with DenseNet 2.1 are used to extract the features of the eye for effective classification. The models achieved an accuracy of 96.22%, 93.18% and 75.61% respectively. Market risk management of financial derivatives requires the efficient calculation of their price sensitivities with respect to changes in market factors. This paper shows how a deep feed-forward neural network which has been trained for pricing derivative instruments can be efficiently used to calculate these sensitivities as well. The proposed method is a fast and easily implementable alternative approach to automatic differentiation, and it simultaneously calculates all the first- and second-order derivatives of a multilayer feed-forward neural network with respect to its input features. The paper quantifies the performance improvement of the proposed method over a recent, publicly available implementation of automatic differentiation for a wide range of network sizes. The number of input parameters in these networks corresponds to those of commonly used financial models with stochastic volatility. The numerical accuracy of the proposed sensitivity calculations is demonstrated with a case study, calculating price sensitivities of European options under stochastic volatility. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, have been progressively prevalent due to their capability to operate quickly and their vast range of applications in a variety of real-world circumstances. The utilization of UAVs in precision farming has lately gained a lot of attention from the scientific community. This study addresses with the assistance of drones in the precision agricultural area. This paper makes significant contributions by analyzing communication protocols and applying them to the challenge of commanding a fleet of drones to protect crops from parasite infestations. In this research, the effectiveness of nine powerful deep neural network models is measured for the detection of plant diseases using diverse methodologies. These deep neural networks are adapted to the immediate situation using transfer learning and deep extraction of features approaches. The presented study takes into account the used pretrained deep learning model for extracting features and fine-tuning. The deep feature extraction characteristics are subsequently categorized using support vector machines (SVMs) and extreme learning machines (ELMs). For measuring performance, the precision, sensitivities, specific, and F1-score are all evaluated. Deep feature extraction and SVM/ELM classification generated better outcomes than transfer learning, according to the analysis result. Furthermore, the analysis of the various methodologies tries to assess their effectiveness and costs. In the extremely competitive environment of shipping, minimizing shipping cost is the key factor for the survival and growth of shipping companies. However, stricter rules and regulations that aim at the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions published by the International Maritime Organization, force shipping companies to increase the operational efficiency of their fleet. The prediction of a ship speed in actual seas with a given power by its engine is the most important performance indicator and thus makes it the "holy grail" in pursuing better efficiency. Traditionally, tank model tests and semi-empirical formulas were the preferred solution for the aforementioned prediction and are still widely applied. However, currently, with the increased computational power that is widely available, novel and more sophisticated methods taking into consideration computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and machine learning (ML) algorithms are emerging. In this paper, we briefly present the different approaches in the prediction of a ship's speed but focus on ML methods comparing a representative number of the latest data-driven models used in papers, to provide guidelines, discover trends and identify the challenges to be faced by researchers. Real-time and accurate state-of-charge estimation performs an important role in the smooth operation of various electric vehicle battery management systems. Neural network theory represents one of the most effective and commonly used methods of SOC prediction. However, traditional neural network methods are disadvantaged by such issues as the limited range of application, limited generalization ability, and low accuracy, which makes it difficult to meet the increasing safety requirements on electric vehicles. In view of these problems, an ensemble learning algorithm based on the AdaBoost.Rt is proposed in this paper. AdaBoost.Rt recurrent neural network model is purposed to ensure the accurate prediction of lithium battery SOC. Relying on a chain-connected recurrent neural network model, this method enables the correlation adaptability of sample data in the spatio-temporal dimension. The ensemble learning method was adopted to devise a method of multi-RNN model integration, with the RNN model as the base learner, thus constructing the AdaBoost.Rt-RNN strong learner model. According to the results of simulation and experimental comparisons, the integrated algorithm proposed in this paper is applicable to improve the accuracy of SOC prediction and the generalization performance of the model. Background: Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) provides a reliable and reproducible approach to measuring fitness in patients and diagnosing their health problems. However, the data from CPET consist of multiple time series that require training to interpret. Part of this training teaches the use of flow charts or nested decision trees to interpret the CPET results. This paper investigates the use of two machine learning techniques using neural networks to predict patient health conditions with CPET data in contrast to flow charts. The data for this investigation comes from a small sample of patients with known health problems and who had CPET results. The small size of the sample data also allows us to investigate the use and performance of deep learning neural networks on health care problems with limited amounts of labeled training and testing data. Methods: This paper compares the current standard for interpreting and classifying CPET data, flowcharts, to neural network techniques, autoencoders and convolutional neural networks (CNN). The study also investigated the performance of principal component analysis (PCA) with logistic regression to provide an additional baseline of comparison to the neural network techniques. Results: The patients in the sample had two primary diagnoses: heart failure and metabolic syndrome. All model-based testing was done with 5-fold cross-validation and metrics of precision, recall, F1 score, and accuracy. As a baseline for comparison to our models, the highest performing flow chart method achieved an accuracy of 77%. Both PCA regression and CNN achieved an average accuracy of 90% and outperformed the flow chart methods on all metrics. The autoencoder with logistic regression performed the best on each of the metrics and had an average accuracy of 94%. Conclusions: This study suggests that machine learning and neural network techniques, in particular, can provide higher levels of accuracy with CPET data than traditional flowchart methods. Further, the CNN performed well with a small data set showing that these techniques can be designed to perform well on small data problems that are often found in health care and the life sciences. Energy is essential to sustain life and development and to fulfill daily requirements. A clean source of energy like the Solar Chimney Power Plant (SCPP) is essential or hybridized with conventional sources to meet the demand. Also, it will provide energy during the night and it will reduce the need and expense of physical batteries in comparison to the photovoltaic energy storage system. In this paper, a mathematical study has been done for the generation of 10 MW power from the SCPP. This paper optimized the core parameter of SCPP such as chimney height and collector radius under different operating conditions. It has been evaluated on the basis of data produced by the developed mathematical model. The current research work highlights the modern application of state‐of‐the‐art Deep Learning (DL) techniques that is, Functional Link Convolutional Neural Network (FLCNN) to map developed mathematical models. The proposed FLCNN is compared with various other Machine Learning algorithms including Support Vector Regression, K‐Nearest Neighbors, Random Forest, Naïve Bayes, and Multilayer Perceptron. Proposed FLCNN performed efficiently and achieved 91% and 93% of Adjusted R2 score for predicting values of collector radius and chimney height, respectively, which is comparable to other ML algorithms. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the neural, behavioral, and physiological systems of the brain. This disease is also known as tremor. The common symptoms of this disease are a slowness of movement known as 'bradykinesia', loss of automatic movements, speech/writing changes, and difficulty with walking at early stages. To solve these issues and to enhance the diagnostic process of PD, machine learning (ML) algorithms have been implemented for the categorization of subjective disease and healthy controls (HC) with comparable medical appearances. To provide a far-reaching outline of data modalities and artificial intelligence techniques that have been utilized in the analysis and diagnosis of PD, we conducted a literature analysis of research papers published up until 2022. A total of 112 research papers were included in this study, with an examination of their targets, data sources and different types of datasets, ML algorithms, and associated outcomes. The results showed that ML approaches and new biomarkers have a lot of promise for being used in clinical decision-making, resulting in a more systematic and informed diagnosis of PD. HPC or super-computing clusters are designed for executing computationally intensive operations that typically involve large scale I/O operations. This most commonly involves using a standard MPI library implemented in C/C++. It is commonly left to individual practitioners to optimise I/O on a case by case basis at code level. This can often lead to a range of unforeseen outcomes. The ExSeisDat utility is built on top of the native MPI-I/O library comprising of Parallel I/O and Workflow Libraries to process seismic data encapsulated in SEG-Y file format. The SEG-Y File data structure is complex in nature, due to the alternative arrangement of trace header and trace data. Its size scales to petabytes and the chances of I/O performance degradation are further increased by ExSeisDat. This research paper presents a novel study of the changing I/O performance in terms of bandwidth, with the use of parallel plots against various MPI-I/O, Lustre (Parallel) File System and SEG-Y File parameters. Another novel aspect of this research is the predictive modelling of MPI-I/O behaviour over SEG-Y File benchmarks using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). The accuracy ranges from 62.5% to 96.5% over the set of trained ANN models. The computed Mean Square Error (MSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) values further support the generalisation of the prediction models. This paper introduces a theory-guided machine learning (TGML) framework, which combines a theoretical model (TM) and a machine learning (ML) algorithm to predict compaction density under cyclic loading. Several 1-D tests were conducted on uniformly graded fine sand compacted at varying moisture contents w , stress levels σ z and loading frequencies f , simulating the field compaction of materials using a vibratory roller. The laboratory compaction data were first analysed using a revised TM and an artificial neural network (ANN), and their performance was measured using mean absolute error (MAE). Next, the data were analysed using the TGML framework, which involves three different techniques. TGML1 increased the ML's ability to extrapolate (MAE improved from 2.2 × 10−3 to 1.2 × 10−3); TGML2 ensured ML and TM complemented each other to model observations better (MAE improved from 2.3 × 10−3 to 7.9 × 10−4); and TGML3 assisted in regularising the ML with an additional loss function which ensured the model followed the mechanistic understandings of the underlying physics (MAE improved from 9.2 × 10−3 to 2.7 × 10−3). Considering TGML3 during modelling is essential when dealing with noisy field datasets, and this is the highlight of this paper. TGML frameworks showed less error and lower model uncertainty, estimated using the novel Monte Carlo dropout technique. Furthermore, the developed TGML framework was used to demonstrate a termination criterion, i.e. the number of cycles of roller movement required to achieve the desired degree of compaction. Background: During the process of the treatment of COVID-19 hospitalized patients, physicians still face a lot of unknowns and problems. Despite the application of the treatment protocol, it is still unknown why the medical status of a certain number of patients worsens and ends with death. Many factors were analyzed for the prediction of the clinical outcome of the patients using different methods. The aim of this paper was to develop a prediction model based on initial laboratory blood test results, accompanying comorbidities, and demographics to help physicians to better understand the medical state of patients with respect to possible clinical outcomes using neural networks, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals. Methods: The research had retrospective-prospective, descriptive, and analytical character. As inputs for this research, 12 components of laboratory blood test results, six accompanying comorbidities, and demographics (age and gender) data were collected from hospital information system in Sarajevo for each patient from a sample of 634 hospitalized patients. Clinical outcome of the hospitalized patients, survival or death, was recorded 30 days after admission to the hospital. The prediction model was designed using a neural network. In addition, formal hypothesis tests were performed to investigate whether there were significant differences in laboratory blood test results and age between patients who died and those who survived, including the construction of 95% confidence intervals. Results: In this paper, 11 neural networks were developed with different threshold values to determine the optimal neural network with the highest prediction performance. The performances of the neural networks were evaluated by accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and specificity. Optimal neural network model evaluation metrics are: accuracy = 87.78%, precision = 96.37%, sensitivity = 90.07%, and specificity = 62.16%. Significantly higher values (P < 0.05) of blood laboratory result components and age were detected in patients who died. Conclusion: Optimal neural network model, results of hypothesis tests, and confidence intervals could help to predict, analyze, and better understand the medical state of COVID-19 hospitalized patients and thus reduce the mortality rate. • A multi-physics 3D FEM is established for exciting electrodes of ECS installed around pipeline subjected to LTCTMF. • The LTCTMF behavior is studied at different levels of LTCTMF. • A theoretical model results of LTCTMF compliance over creep time are analyzed using the Modulus degradation Approach. • A deep learning model is designed to predict compliance for various LTCTMF levels not included in previous FEM evaluation. • The proposed method performance is estimated by computing the accuracy rate, regression rate, and F-score indexes. The composite pipeline is a relatively new and viable alternative pipeline to the more commonly used traditional one due to its good mechanical and fatigue properties and lower production cost. For this purpose, it is critical to assess the mechanical and fatigue performance of composite pipeline material under various working conditions, particularly for monitoring long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior. In this paper, a long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior in a basalt fiber reinforced polymer laminated composite pipeline is detected through an integrated expert system consisting of the electrical capacitance sensors and a deep learning algorithm. First, a multi-physics finite element model is established for the simulation of a long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior in basalt fiber reinforced polymer composite pipelines subjected to long-term fatigue loading of internal pressure and thermal effect. Second, theoretical model results of long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue compliance (S f (t)) over the time of creep are analyzed in pipeline material using the modulus degradation approach. Finally, an electrical potential change between electrical capacitance sensors electrodes corresponding to S f (t) over the time of creep for some levels of long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue (R f %) is recorded and then used in these datasets for training of the novel deep neural network based on one of the most widely used of the deep neural network families is the convolutional neural network, to predict S f (t) in pipeline for various R f % not included in the previous finite element model evaluation (i.e. electrical capacitance sensors technique). In this paper first is detected the long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior for R f % = 25 % , 50 % , and 75 % from a finite element model and modulus degradation approach, and then is predicted the long-term creep thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior for R f % = 15 % , 35 % , 60 % , and 85 % respectively via deep neural network. The proposed method results are in good agreement with the experimental results available in the literature, thus verifying the accuracy and reliability of the proposed technique and its applicability to other different composite structures. • The proposed AP-GAN-DNN method is able to predict creep fracture life more accurately in the case of small samples, which solves the complex nonlinear problem and the problem of test data dispersion. • Compared with traditional physical methods and machine learning models, the AP-GAN-DNN model has better generalization and robustness for creep fracture life prediction. • AP-GAN data enhancement method can significantly reduce the "pattern collapse" effect of GAN and improve the performance of prediction algorithms. 7050 aluminum alloy has high strength and excellent fracture toughness. However, damage can be caused to the 7050 aluminum alloy by creep at elevated temperatures. The accuracy of conventional creep life prediction methods may fall short of meeting the desired standards. And the application of machine learning (ML) methods is limited due to the scarcity and dispersion of creep sample data. Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) are often used for data enhancement, but suffer from "pattern collapse" under small sample conditions. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a creep fracture life prediction method, which combines the affinity propagation (AP) clustering algorithm, GAN, and deep neural networks (DNN) for accurate creep fracture life prediction. The AP clustering algorithm for adaptive clustering was utilized to better reflect the creep sample distribution. Independent GAN models were trained for each cluster to better capture distribution characteristics of the data and generate synthetic data that was highly similar to the real data. The DNN models were trained using the synthetic data and then predicted using real creep fracture life data. The presented method was compared with traditional physical and machine learning methods, and the method combining K-Means, GAN, and DNN. A multi-layer neural network is used to extract the value of a superconductor's T c of cuprate from two models. The first model extracts T c from the structure's chemical composition whereas the second model extracts T c from the structure's chemical composition and the lattice parameters. The back-propagation algorithm is used to find the empirical equation of T c. It can calculate error signals and redistribute backward propagation signals. This paper studies four systems of cuprate superconductors: Y Ba Cu O, Bi Sr Ca Cu O, Tl Ba Ca Cu O, and Hg Ba Ca Cu O. In the first model, the T c of four high-temperature oxide superconductors are calculated as a function of eight parameters and one output, which is T c. Although the same output is produced in the second model, it is produced as a function of eleven parameters. The eight parameters are superconductor type number (Bi2212, Bi2223, Hg1201, Hg1212, Hg1223, Y123, Y124, Y247, Tl1223, Tl2212, Tl2223), first component composition, second component composition, third component composition, fourth component composition, atomic number of doping type, doping composition, and oxygen composition of the first model. The previous parameters with the three lattice parameters a , b and c are used in the second model. The trained deep learning models have shown a high degree of performance in matching the trained distributions. After analysing the results, we deduce electronegativity plays an important role in increasing T c of cuprate superconductors. Using the obtained T c prediction model, the scope is expanded to include the eleven unexplored multi-element materials. Candidates for superconductors with a higher T c that can be synthesized are proposed. By comparison with other models of machine learning, the suggested models in this paper give the highest T c for predicting new cuprate superconductors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) is a carbon capture technology that uses an oxygen carrier to transfer the oxidizing agent to the fuel for combustion. This study used different machine learning algorithms, Artificial neural network and Response surface methodology to estimate the surface region process performance and optimize the process condition for the CLC of different solid fuels waste paper, plastic waste, and sugarcane bagasse blends. Based on the combustion efficiency, CO 2 yield and CO 2 capture efficiency responses, A high performance correlation (R2 > 0.8) was obtained for all the combustion parameters analyzed. The perturbation plot derived from the RSM analysis indicated that the most significant input parameters include the steam to fixed carbon, blend ratio and the fuel reaction temperature. The CLC process was optimized using RSM. For blends of SCB/WP, the best operating conditions were found to be 800 °C, a solid flow rate of 197.7 kg/h, an oxygen carrier to fuel ratio of 1.1, a steam to fixed carbon ratio of 2.16, and a blend ratio of 1. Similarly, for blends of SCB/PW, the optimal operating conditions were 800 °C, a solid flow rate of 199.4 kg/h, an oxygen carrier to fuel ratio of 1.3, steam to fixed carbon ratio of 2, and a blend ratio of 0.3. The optimum combustion performance was found to be 0.98, 0.78, and 0.96 for SCB/WP and 0.99, 0.62, and 0.96 for SCB/PW, respectively. • The process performance of the CLC of MSW/biomass blend was compared using ANN and RSM. • The optimal blend ratios for SCB/WP and SCB/PW blends were 1 (25% WP) and 0.3 (42.5% PW). • The combustion performance of the WP improved by 6.2% and 3.5% in terms of combustion efficiency and CO 2 yield, respectively. • The most significant input factors were discovered to be the blend of fuels ratio and the steam to fixed carbon ratio.
