In the global music landscape, traditionally dominated by Western powerhouses, the Korean music industry has emerged as a formidable force over the past two decades, achieving remarkable milestones. At the heart of this success lies the trainee system, a reflection of Korea's collectivist culture, which has established a solid foundation for the industry's swift industrialization. This article employs a literature analysis approach to explore the significant impact of the Korean music industry model on propelling Korean music onto the global stage. It also delves into the potential future developments of the industry, examining the balance between maintaining its unique identity and adapting to the ever-evolving global music landscape. The study finds that the industry's strategic utilization of technological advancements has facilitated the creation of a highly efficient production line, solidifying its status as a powerhouse of high output and returns. The advanced and collective nature of the Korean music industry has equipped it with the resilience and adaptability necessary to tackle various challenges effectively. However, the industry's reliance on a homogenized and assembly-line approach to star-making and music production raises concerns, as it may curb artistic creativity and lead to a lack of diversity in Korean music.

7. The Clinical Effectiveness of Single-Dose Human Papillomavirus Vaccination.

- Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine was initially approved for a three-dose regimen. Due to resource limitations, budget constraints, low acceptance, and poor adherence, global vaccination coverage is only 15%. A single-dose regimen could simplify logistics, reduce costs, and improve accessibility. However, its clinical effectiveness remains debatable. This review systematically searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library, including 42 clinical studies, to assess the effectiveness of a single-dose HPV vaccination for preventing HPV infections, cervical abnormalities, and genital warts. We summarized the effectiveness of bivalent, quadrivalent, and nonavalent vaccines across different age groups and buffer periods, and analyzed the factors contributing to the inconsistency of results. The review also provides insights into designing robust future research to inform single-dose HPV vaccination policies and guidelines, highlighting the need for further research to refine vaccination strategies. 12. Towards Robust Neural Rankers with Large Language Model: A Contrastive Training Approach.

Pre-trained language model-based neural rankers have been widely applied in information retrieval (IR). However, the robustness issue of current IR models has not received sufficient attention, which could significantly impact the user experience in practical applications. In this study, we focus on the defensive ability of IR models against query attacks while guaranteeing their retrieval performance. We discover that improving the robustness of IR models not only requires a focus on model architecture and training methods but is also closely related to the quality of data. Different from previous research, we use large language models (LLMs) to generate query variations with the same intent, which exhibit richer and more realistic expressions while maintaining consistent query intent. Based on LLM-generated query variations, we propose a novel contrastive training framework that substantially enhances the robustness of IR models to query perturbations. Specifically, we combine the contrastive loss in the representation space of query variations with the ranking loss in the retrieval training stage to improve the model's ability to understand the underlying semantic information of queries. Experimental results on two public datasets, WikiQA and ANTIQUE, demonstrate that the proposed contrastive training approach effectively improves the robustness of models facing query attack scenarios while outperforming baselines in retrieval performance. Compared with the best baseline approach, the improvements in average robustness performance of Reranker IR models are 24.9%, 26.5%, 27.0%, and 75.0% on WikiQA and 8.7%, 1.9%, 6.3%, and 13.6% on ANTIQUE, in terms of the MAP (Mean Average Precision), MRR (Mean Reciprocal Rank), nDCG@10 (Normalized Discounted Cumulative Gain) and P@10 (Precision), respectively. Medicinal plants are considered to be a critical source of novel compounds and pharmacophores. The genus Ardisia, consisting of approximately 500 species, is the largest genus in the Myrsinaceae family. Ardisia species are widely distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world and have been used for the treatment of cancer, hypertension, irregular menstruation, gonorrhea, diarrhea and postnatal syndromes, among others. Phytochemical studies of Ardisia species have resulted in the isolation and identification of 111 compounds, including triterpenoid saponins, quinones, phenols, coumarins, cyclic depsipepetide and flavonoids. Crude extracts and isolates from Ardisia have been reported to have in vitro and in vivo efficacies, including but not limited to anticancer, antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antithrombotic and antidiabetic, antitubercular compounds. This review focuses on the medical and functional uses, phytochemical profile and pharmacological efficacies of Ardisia species over the past 15 years. This review will provide information indicating that Ardisia species represent an invaluable source of potential therapeutic compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During our ongoing survey of dematiaceous hyphomycetes associated with dead branches in tropical forests, eight Acrodictys isolates were collected from Hainan, China. Morphology from the cultures and phylogeny based on partial small subunit (SSU), entire internal transcribed spacer regions with intervening 5.8S (ITS), partial large subunit (LSU) of rRNA gene, partial beta-tubulin (tub2), and partial RNA polymerase II second largest subunit (rpb2) genes were employed to identify these isolates. As a result, four new species, namely Acrodictys bawanglingensis sp. nov., A. diaoluoshanensis sp. nov., A. ellisii sp. nov., and A. pigmentosa sp. nov., are introduced. Illustrations and descriptions of the four taxa are provided, along with comparisons with closely related taxa in the genus. The fungal genus Gnomoniopsis (Gnomoniaceae, Diaporthales) has been reported all around the world and isolated from multiple plant hosts. Based on multilocus phylogenies from a combined dataset of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, the ribosomal RNA gene cluster, and partial regions of translation elongation factor 1 alpha (tef1) and partial beta-tubulin (tub2), in conjunction with morphological characteristics, we describe and illustrate herein four new species, including Gnomoniopsisdiaoluoshanensis sp. Nov., G. lithocarpi sp. Nov., G. mengyinensis sp. Nov. and G.yunnanensis sp. Nov. Alongside this, their similarity and dissimilarity to morphologically-allied and phylogenetically-related species are annotated and discussed. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of PAQR4 in NSCLC. Methods: Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and immunohistchemical (IHC) staining were used to analyze the expression of PAQR4 in HCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues. MTT, colony formation assay, flow cytometry (FCM), wound healing assays and transwell invasion assays were used to investigate the effects of PAQR4 on cell proliferation, colony formation, cell cycle, migration and invasion. Murine xenograft model assay was carried out to characterize the effects of PAQR4 knockdown on tumor growth in vivo. Results: In this study, we found that the expression of PAQR4 was significantly upregulated in the NSCLC tissues of patients compared with that in the matched non-cancerous tissues. In addition, we found that PAQR4 was also significantly up-regulated in the NSCLC cell lines compared with normal human lung epithelial cells. Besides, we found that the over-expression of PAQR4 promoted promoted proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion of the NSCLC cells, whereas the knockdown of PAQR4 inhibited proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion of the NSCLC cells. Furthermore, mechanistic studies showed that the CDK4-pRB-E2F1 pathway was involved in NSCLC. Conclusion: Hence, these results suggest that PAQR4 may be used as a new target in NSCLC therapy. NLRC5, the largest member of the Nod‐like receptor (NLR) family, has been reported to play a pivotal role in regulating inflammatory responses. Recent evidence suggests that NLRC5 participates in Toll‐like receptor (TLR) signaling pathways and negatively modulates nuclear factor‐κB (NF‐κB) activation. In this study, we investigated the interaction between NLRC5 and TLR2 in the NF‐κB inflammatory signaling pathway and the involvement of NLRC5 in TLR2‐mediated allergic airway inflammation. We knocked down TLR2 and NLRC5, respectively in the RAW264.7 macrophage cell line by small interfering RNA (siRNA) and then stimulated the knockdown cells with lipoteichoic acid (LTA). In comparison with the negative siRNA group, the level of NLRC5 expression was lower in the TLR2 siRNA group, with a reduction in the NF‐κB‐related inflammatory response. Conversely, in the NLRC5 knockdown cells, after LTA‐treated the level of TLR2 expression did not change but the expression levels of both NF‐κB pp65 and NLRP3 increased remarkably. Thus, we hypothesize that NLRC5 participates in the LTA‐induced inflammatory signaling pathway and regulates the inflammation via TLR2/NF‐κB. Similarly, in subsequent in vivo experiments, we demonstrated that the expression level of NLRC5 was significantly increased in the ovalbumin‐induced allergic airway inflammation. However, this effect disappeared in TLR2‐deficient (TLR2 −/−) mice and was accompanied by reduced levels of NF‐κB expression and airway inflammation. In conclusion, NLRC5 negatively regulates LTA‐induced inflammatory response via a TLR2/NF‐κB pathway in macrophages and also participates in TLR2‐mediated allergic airway inflammation. 23. Alda-1 Prevents Pulmonary Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction following Severe Hemorrhagic Shock through Clearance of Reactive Aldehydes.

Severe hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation (HS/R) can lead to lung injury, resulting in respiratory insufficiency. We investigated whether treatment with Alda-1, an ALDH2 activator, decreased lung injury induced by severe HS/R in a rat model. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into three groups, hemorrhagic shock + placebo, hemorrhagic shock + Alda-1, and sham. All animals were heparinized, and then 50% of the total calculated blood volume was collected over 60 minutes. After 40 minutes of hemorrhagic shock, animals were reinfused with the shed blood over 40 minutes and then observed for an additional 2 hours. Concentrations of 4-HNE, TNF-α, IL-6, and ALDH2 activity were detected; lung injury and lung wet-to-dry weight ratios were assessed. Expression of occludin and ZO-1 proteins in lung tissues was also determined. At 2 hours after resuscitation, lung injury was significantly reduced and the wet-to-dry weight ratio was notably decreased in the Alda-1 group compared with placebo (P<0.05). Alda-1 treatment also significantly increased the activity of ALDH2 and decreased the levels of toxic 4-HNE (P<0.05). In the Alda-1 group, IL-6 and TNF-α were dramatically decreased compared with placebo-treated animals (P<0.05). Expression of occludin and ZO-1 proteins was significantly decreased in the placebo group compared with the Alda-1 group (P<0.05). Thus, in a rat model of severe HS/R, treatment with Alda-1 increased the activity of ALDH2, significantly accelerated the clearance of reactive aldehydes, and concomitantly alleviated lung injury through improvement of pulmonary epithelial barrier integrity resulting in decreased alveolar epithelial tissue permeability, lung edema, and diffuse infiltration of inflammatory cells. Galectin-1 (Gal-1) has immunomodulatory activities in various allergic inflammatory disorders, but its potential anti-inflammatory properties on allergic airway diseases have not been confirmed. We explored the pharmacological effects of Gal-1 on the progression of allergic airway inflammation and investigated the underlying mechanism. Female C57BL/6 mice were sensitized on day 0 and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA) on days 14-17 to establish an allergic airway inflammation model. In the challenge phase, a subset of mice was treated intraperitoneally with recombinant Gal-1 (rGal-1) or dexamethasone (Dex). We found that rGal-1 inhibited pulmonary inflammatory cell recruitment, mucus secretion, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) inflammatory cell infiltration, and cytokine production. The treatment also suppressed the infiltration of eosinophils into the allergic lung as indicated by decreased expression levels of eotaxin and eosinophil peroxidase (EPX). However, only the expression levels of IL-25, neither IL-33 nor TSLP, were significantly decreased in the lung by rGal-1 treatment. These immunomodulatory effects in the allergic lung were correlated with the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway and downregulation of endogenous Gal-1. In addition, rGal-1 reduced the plasma concentrations of anti-OVA immunoglobulin E (IgE) and IL-17. Our findings suggest that rGal-1 is an effective therapy for allergic airway inflammation in a murine model and may be a potential pharmacological target for allergic airway inflammatory diseases. 25. MTOR-Mediated Autophagy Is Involved in the Protective Effect of Ketamine on Allergic Airway Inflammation.

Unresolved inflammation underpins the pathogenesis of allergic airway diseases, such as asthma. Ketamine, accepted as a promising therapy for resistant asthma, has been demonstrated to attenuate allergic airway inflammation. However, the anti-inflammatory mechanism by ketamine in this setting is largely unknown. We aimed to investigate whether autophagy was involved in the protective effect of ketamine on allergic airway inflammation. Female C57BL/6 mice were sensitized to ovalbumin (OVA) and treated with ketamine at 25, 50, or 100 mg/kg prior to OVA challenge. In this model, the pulmonary morphological findings and airway inflammation were significantly inhibited at 50 mg/kg but not at 25 or 100 mg/kg. Moreover, 50 mg/kg ketamine abrogated the increased concentrations of inflammatory cytokines in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of allergic mice, as well as activated the expression of phosphorylated mammalian target of rapamycin (p-MTOR) and inhibited autophagy in allergic mice. To confirm whether the effect of 50 mg/kg ketamine on asthma was mediated by inhibiting autophagy, rapamycin was administered to mice sensitized to OVA and exposed to 50 mg/kg ketamine. All of the effect of 50 mg/kg ketamine was reversed by rapamycin treatment, including increased p-MTOR and decreased autophagy. Taken together, the present study demonstrates that 50 mg/kg ketamine inhibits allergic airway inflammation by suppressed autophagy, and this effect is mediated by the activation of MTOR in the lungs of allergic mice. Background: Our colleagues have demonstrated an impressive therapeutic role of sevoflurane in a murine allergic airway inflammation model, but the mechanisms underlying this effect remain undefined. In this study, we tried to investigate the effect of sevoflurane on the resolution of allergic airway inflammation and to assess whether NLRP3 or the NLRP3 inflammasome is involved in this process.Methods: Female (C57BL/6) mice were sensitized and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA). Then, some of the mice received MCC950 (10 mg/kg; i.p.) or 3% sevoflurane. Total and differential inflammatory cell numbers, proinflammatory cytokines in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), the peribronchial inflammation density, and mucus production were evaluated. In addition, we analysed the protein levels of NLRP3, the apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing the caspase activation and recruitment domain (ASC), pro-caspase-1, and caspase-1 in the lung tissue.Results: We found that OVA-induced inflammatory cell recruitment to peribronchial regions, goblet cell hyperplasia, the serum levels of IgE, inflammatory cells, and the Th2 cytokine secretion in BALF was potently suppressed by sevoflurane with an efficacy comparable with that suppressed by MCC950 treatment. Furthermore, sevoflurane, similar to MCC950, clearly inhibited the OVA-induced activity of NLRP3 in the lungs. In addition, we found that OVA challenge failed to increase the expression of ASC, pro-caspase-1, and caspase-1 in the lungs and the levels of IL-18 and IL-1β in BALF.Conclusion: Taken together, our data showed that sevoflurane ameliorated allergic airway inflammation by inhibiting Th2 responses and NLRP3 expression. The challenge of detecting research topics in a specific research field has attracted attention from researchers in the bibliometrics community. In this study, to solve two problems of clustering papers, i.e., the influence of different distributions of citation links and involved textual features on similarity computation, the authors propose a hybrid self-optimized clustering model to detect research topics by extending the hybrid clustering model to identify “core documents”. First, the Amsler network, consisting of bibliographic coupling and co-citation links, is created to calculate the citation-based similarity based on the cosine angle of papers. Second, the cosine similarity is also used to compute the text-based similarity, which consists of the textual statistical and topological features. Then, the cosine angle of the linear combination of citation- and text-based similarity is considered as the hybrid similarity. Finally, the Louvain method is applied to cluster papers, and the terms based on term frequency are used to label clusters. To test the performance of the proposed model, a dataset related to the data envelopment analysis field is used for comparison and analysis of clustering results. Based on the benchmark built, different clustering methods with different citation links or textual features are compared according to evaluation measures. The results show that the proposed model can obtain reasonable and effective clustering results, and the research topics of data envelopment analysis field are also analyzed based on the proposed model. As different features are considered in the proposed model compared with previous hybrid clustering models, the proposed clustering model can provide inspiration for further studies on topic identification by other researchers. 28. MerTK Does Not Mediate Phagocytosis of Staphylococcus aureus but Attenuates Inflammation Induced by Staphylococcal Lipoteichoic Acid Through Blocking NF-κB Activation.

Mer receptor tyrosine kinase (MerTK) expressed in macrophages is essential for phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Here, we investigate whether MerTK is involved in the phagocytosis of Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus) and regulation of staphylococcal lipoteichoic acid (LTA)-induced inflammatory response in macrophages. We found that stimulating RAW264.7 macrophages with S. aureus activated multiple signaling pathways including toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), scavenger receptor A (SR-A), and MerTK. Meanwhile, S. aureus stimulation also induced activation of proteins focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and Rac1, which are related to phagocytosis. Pretreatment with a specific Mer-blocking antibody significantly inhibited S. aureus-induced phosphorylation of MerTK, while it had no effect on S. aureus-induced activation of FAK and Rac1. Moreover, by confocal laser microscope, we observed that the antibody blockade of MerTK had little impact on the phagocytosis of S. aureus by RAW264.7 macrophages. Additionally, pretreatment with this antibody further promoted LTA-induced phosphorylation of nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) p65 subunit and production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2). Collectively, these results suggest that MerTK does not play an essential role in the phagocytosis of S. aureus but attenuates inflammation induced by staphylococcal LTA through blocking NF-κB activation. Industry consumes approximately half of the total worldwide energy usage. With the increasingly rising energy costs in recent years, it is critically important to consider one of the most widely used energies, electricity, during the production planning process. We propose a new mathematical model that can determine efficient scheduling to minimize the makespan and electricity consumption cost (ECC) for the flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSSP) under a time-of-use (TOU) policy. In addition to the traditional two subtasks in FJSSP, a new subtask called speed selection, which represents the selection of variable operating speeds, is added. Then, a modified biogeography-based optimization (MBBO) algorithm combined with variable neighborhood search (VNS) is proposed to solve the biobjective problem. Experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed MBBO algorithm for obtaining an improved scheduling solution compared to the basic biogeography-based optimization (BBO) algorithm, genetic algorithm (GA), and harmony search (HS). Abstract Although autophagy and phagocytosis are involved in the regulation of host inflammatory response to bacterial infection in macrophages, the underlying mechanisms have not been completely elucidated. In the present study, we found that infecting RAW264.7 macrophages with Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) activated multiple signaling pathways including phosphatidylinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt), nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), and Rac1, as well as triggered autophagy. LY294002, a specific PI3K activity inhibitor, significantly decreased autophagy and phagocytosis of macrophages upon S. aureus infection. Similarly, knockdown of Beclin1 by specific siRNA significantly inhibited autophagy and phagocytosis of S. aureus -infected macrophages. Additionally, we showed that although administration of Beclin1 siRNA had no effects on phosphorylation of Akt (p-Akt), inhibition of PI3K activity by LY294002 significantly decreased the expression of Beclin1, suggesting that Beclin1 is a downstream molecular of PI3K. Furthermore, inhibition of autophagy significantly increased the production of NF-κB-dependent TNFα/IL-1β in S. aureus -infected macrophages. Collectively, these findings demonstrated, for the first time, that the PI3K/Akt-Beclin1 signaling pathway positively regulates phagocytosis and negatively mediates NF-κB-dependent inflammation in S. aureus -infected macrophages. Nebulized lidocaine has been suggested to be beneficial in asthma therapy, but the underlying mechanisms are little known. We aimed to investigate whether Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 was involved in the protective effect of lidocaine on allergic airway inflammation. Female C57BL/6 mice were sensitized and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA). Meanwhile, some of the mice were treated with TLR2 agonist (Pam3CSK4, 100 μg) intraperitoneally in combination with OVA on day 0. Just after allergen provocation, mice were treated with inhaled lidocaine or vehicle for 30 min. In this model, we found that lidocaine markedly attenuated OVA-evoked airway inflammation, leukocyte recruitment and mucus production. Moreover, lidocaine abrogated the increased concentrations of T cytokines and TNF-α in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of allergic mice, as well as reducing the expression of phosphorylated nuclear factor (P-NF)-κBp65 and the NOD-like receptor pyridine containing 3 (NLRP3), which are important for the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. In addition, our study showed that lidocaine dramatically decreased OVA-induced increased expression of TLR2 in the lung tissues. Furthermore, activation of TLR2 aggravated OVA-challenged airway inflammation, meanwhile, it also elevated OVA-induced expression of P-NF-κBp65 and NLRP3 in the lungs. However, lidocaine effectively inhibited airway inflammation and counteracted the expression of P-NF-κBp65 and NLRP3 in allergic mice pretreated with Pam3CSK4. Taken together, the present study demonstrated that lidocaine prevented allergic airway inflammation via TLR2 in an OVA-induced murine allergic airway inflammation model. Numerous studies indicate that toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) led to divergent effects in asthma. The occurrence of autophagy in asthma pathogenesis is still incompletely understood. Here, we aimed to investigate the role of TLR2 and the underlying mechanisms in allergic airway inflammation and autophagy activation. C57BL/6 and TLR2 knockout (TLR2−/−) mice were subjected to an ovalbumin (OVA)-immunized allergic airway model, and were treated with SP600125. Differential cell counts in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were determined by Wright's staining. Histological analysis of airway inflammation was determined by haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining. The levels of OVA-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukin 10 (IL-10) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Proteins expression in lung tissues was detected by western blot, expression of TLR2 was further observed by immunofluorescence. Autophagy activation was determined by western blot and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TLR2 expression was increased upon OVA challenge, and TLR2 deficiency was associated with decreased allergic airway inflammation. Meanwhile, TLR2 deficiency weakened autophagy activation. Moreover, inhibition of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) by SP600125 also suppressed OVA-induced allergic airway inflammation and autophagy activation. Interestingly, treating TLR2−/− mice with SP600125 showed similar OVA-induced allergic airway inflammation and autophagy activation compared to that in vehicle-treated TLR2−/− mice. TLR2 might contribute to the maintenance of allergic airway inflammation through JNK signaling pathway accompanying with autophagy activation. 33. Second harmonic generation in an anisotropic lithium niobate metasurface governed by quasi-BICs.

- Abstract
Resonant metasurfaces can greatly trap the light fields, so that they are widely used to enhance light-matter interactions at the nanoscale, such as promoting nonlinear effects of materials. Lithium niobate (LN) is an excellent nonlinear optical material and is often employed to generate harmonic signals. In this Letter, we numerically study the second harmonic generation (SHG) characteristics of the LN metasurface based on the quasi-bound states in the continuum (QBIC). The designed BIC and excited QBIC metasurfaces always hold C
4v symmetry, and the BIC is demonstrated to degenerate into two BICs due to the anisotropic characteristics of LN. Moreover, the excited two high Q-factor QBICs can effectively enhance the SHG in LN, although the device maintains C4v symmetry, the SHG signal still shows polarization dependence. In addition, with the increase of Q-factor of quasi-BIC, the power and conversion efficiency (η) of SHG increase significantly. The calculated η can reach 6.04 × 10-3 and can be further improved when the resonance mode is closer to BIC. These results have important implications for high-quality nonlinear light sources based on LN materials.- Published

The genus Apiospora includes endophytes, pathogens and saprobes, with a wide host range and geographic distribution. In this paper, six Apiospora strains isolated from diseased and healthy tissues of bamboo leaves from Hainan and Shandong provinces in China were classified using a multi-locus phylogeny based on a combined dataset of ITS, LSU, tef1 and tub2 , in conjunction with morphological characters, host association and ecological distribution. Two new species, Apiosporadongyingensis and A.hainanensis , and a new record of A.pseudosinensis in China, are described based on their distinct phylogenetic relationships and morphological analyses. Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix (NECC) is a highly aggressive and rare gynecological malignancy with a poor prognosis. Despite aggressive local and systemic treatments, there are high rates of locoregional recurrence and distant metastases. Therefore, more potent treatments are required to manage NECC. In recent years, emerging immune checkpoint inhibitors, such as programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors, have been used in treating various solid tumors and provide a new direction for immune-targeted therapy for NECC. In this review, we summarize the biomarkers useful for the evaluation of the therapy with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in patients with NECC and the clinical applications and prospects of monotherapy with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors and combinations with other therapies in patients with NECC. In some individual case reports, therapeutic strategies with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors showed good efficacy. Species of Sporocadaceae have often been reported as plant pathogens, endophytes or saprophytes and are commonly isolated from a wide range of plant hosts. The isolated fungi were studied through a complete examination, based on multilocus phylogenies from combined datasets of ITS/ tub2 / tef1 , in conjunction with morphological characteristics. Nine strains were isolated from Ficusmicrocarpa , Ilexchinensis and Schimasuperba in China which represented four species, viz. , Monochaetiaschimae sp. nov. , Neopestalotiopsishaikouensis sp. nov. , Neopestalotiopsispiceana and Pestalotiopsislicualicola . Neopestalotiopsispiceana was a new country record for China and first host record from Ficusmacrocarpa. 37. Asthma Management Using the Mobile Asthma Evaluation and Management System in China.

Purpose: As stated in the Global Initiative for Asthma, there are still some asthmatic patients who have not achieved asthma control. Mobile is a useful tool for asthma management. We aimed to compare the advantages of mobile management with traditional management in improving adherence and control of asthma., Methods: In this prospective, multicentre, randomized, controlled and parallel-group study, we enrolled patients with poor adherence and uncontrolled asthma at 32 hospitals in 28 provinces in China. Patients were randomly assigned to the mobile management or traditional management groups for 12 months. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with good adherence (Medication Adherence Report Scale for Asthma [MARS-A] score ≥ 45) for 6 months. This study is registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02917174)., Results: Between April 2017 and April 2018, 923 patients were eligible for randomization (mobile group, n = 461; traditional group, n = 462). Dropout was 84 (18.2%) in the mobile management group and 113 (24.4%) patients in the traditional management group. The proportion of patients with good adherence was significantly higher in the mobile management group than in the traditional management group (66.0% vs. 58.99%, P = 0.048). Colletotrichum has numerous host range and distribution. Its species are important plant pathogens, endophytes and saprobes. Colletotrichum can cause regular or irregular depressions and necrotic lesions in the epidermal tissues of plants. During this research Colletotrichum specimens were collected from Mengyin County, Shandong Province, China. A multi-locus phylogenetic analysis of ITS, GAPDH, CHS-1, ACT, TUB2, CAL and GS sequence data combined with morphology, revealed a new species and two known species, viz. C.mengyinense sp. nov., C.gloeosporioides and C.pandanicola , belonging to the C.gloeosporioides species complex. - Abstract
Background: Previous studies have demonstrated the preclinical pharmacological and toxicological consistency, and clinical pharmacokinetic equivalence of bevacizumab biosimilar LY01008 with reference bevacizumab (Avastin). This randomized controlled trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of LY01008 with Avastin in first-line treatment of Chinese patients with advanced or recurrent non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)., Methods: Stage IIIB-IV NSCLC patients with evaluable lesions, good physical status, and adequate organ functions from 67 centers across China were randomized in a ratio of 1:1 to receive LY01008 or Avastin 15 mg/kg intravenously in combination with paclitaxel/carboplatin (combined treatment) for 4-6 cycles, followed by maintenance monotherapy with LY01008 until disease progression, intolerable toxicity, or death. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR) in accordance with Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 confirmed by independent radiological review committees (IRRC). Secondary endpoints included disease control rate (DCR), duration of response (DoR), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and safety. This study was registered in ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT03533127)., Results: Between December 15
th , 2017, and May 15th , 2019, a total of 649 patients were randomized to the LY01008 (n = 324) or Avastin (n = 325) group. As of September 25th , 2019 for primary endpoint analysis, 589 patients received ORR evaluation, with a median number of combined treatment cycles of 5 (range 1-6) and median duration of treatment of 3.0 (range 0.0-5.1) months. ORR of response-evaluable patients in the LY01008 and Avastin groups were 48.5% and 53.0%, respectively. The stratified ORR ratio was 0.91 (90% CI 0.80-1.04, within the prespecified equivalence margin of 0.75-1.33). Up to May 15th , 2020, with a median follow-up of 13.6 (range 0.8-28.4) months, no notable differences in DCR, median DoR, median PFS, median OS, and 1-year OS rate were observed between the LY01008 and Avastin groups. There were no clinically meaningful differences in safety and immunogenicity across treatment groups., Conclusions: LY01008 demonstrated similarity to Avastin in terms of efficacy and safety in Chinese patients with advanced or recurrent non-squamous NSCLC. LY01008 combined with paclitaxel/carboplatin is expected to become a new treatment option for unresectable, metastatic, or recurrent non-squamous NSCLC patients in the first-line setting., (© 2021 The Authors. - Abstract
PSPP-1 was obtained from purple sweet potato, and the effects of PSPP-1 on the immune modulation on macrophage cells were investigated for the first time. PSPP-1 promoted RAW264.7 proliferation and increased the total cell percentage in DNA synthesis and mitosis phases, and the cell morphology changed in volume and appearance. Additionally, the RAW264.7 immune functions of phagocytic activity and nitric oxide, reactive oxygen species, and cytokine production were improved by PSPP-1. The western blot experiment showed that PSPP-1 could activate toll-like receptor 2 and toll-like receptor 4-mediated pathways, and the expressions of proteins in MyD88-dependent, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-signaling, NF-κB-signaling, AP-1 signaling, and TRIF-dependent pathways were improved markedly. Molecular docking and Biolayer Interferometry study further indicated that PSPP-1 could recognize and bind TLR2 and TLR4 by targeting the binding sites with a strong affinity. It suggested that PSPP-1 could enhance immunity via TLR2- and TLR4-mediated pathways, and it could be explored as an immunomodulatory agent.

42. Hospitalization Due to Asthma Exacerbation: A China Asthma Research Network (CARN) Retrospective Study in 29 Provinces Across Mainland China.

- Abstract
Purpose: Details of patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation in mainland China are lacking. To improve disease control and reduce economic burden, a large sample survey among this patient population is indispensable. This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of such patients., Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation in 29 hospitals of 29 regions in mainland China during the period 2013 to 2014. Demographic features, pre-admission conditions, exacerbation details, and outcomes were summarized. Risk factors for exacerbation severity were analyzed., Results: There were 3,240 asthmatic patients included in this study (57.7% females, 42.3% males). Only 28.0% used daily controller medications; 1,287 (39.7%) patients were not currently on inhaled corticosteroids. Acute upper airway infection was the most common trigger of exacerbation (42.3%). Patients with severe to life-threatening exacerbation tended to have a longer disease course, a smoking history, and had comorbidities such as hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and food allergy. The multivariate analysis showed that smoking history, comorbidities of hypertension, COPD, and food allergy were independent risk factors for more severe exacerbation. The number of patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation varied with seasons, peaking in March and September. Eight patients died during the study period (mortality 0.25%)., Conclusions: Despite enhanced education on asthma self-management in China during recent years, few patients were using daily controller medications before the onset of their exacerbation, indicating that more educational efforts and considerations are needed. - Abstract
Background: Estrogen has been suggested to play a protective role against airway inflammations, such as asthma. In these processes, the inflammasome nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, leucine-rich repeat and pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) partly accounts for the activation of pro-inflammatory factors. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether NLRP3 was involved in the protective effect of estrogen against allergic airway inflammation. Methods: An ovariectomy was performed on female C57BL/6 mice; some were sham-operated (sham). We then sensitized and challenged them with ovalbumin (OVA) to establish an airway inflammation model. Meanwhile, some mice were treated with 17β-estradiol (E2) for 28 days. Results: The expression of NLRP3 inflammasome and its downstream products, caspase-1 and the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-1β (IL-1β), increased concomitantly with OVA-challenged airway inflammation and decreased with the expression of estrogen receptor β (ERβ). In addition, treating ovariectomized (OVX) mice with E2 dramatically ameliorated airway inflammation via such mechanisms as leukocyte recruitment, mucus production, and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines other than IL-18 in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid (BALF). Furthermore, E2 suppressed both the mRNA expression and protein expression of NLRP3, caspase-1, and IL-1β. In summary, our study showed that NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pro-inflammatory cytokine production markedly increased in OVA-induced airway inflammation, and E2 effectively abrogated such inflammation by regulating the activation of NLRP3., (© 2018 The Author(s).)

- Abstract
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to explore the function and mechanism of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor agonist (PPARγ) in the toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2)/nod-like receptor with pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammatory corpuscle pathway of asthmatic mice. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighteen female mice (C57) were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group, the asthma model group challenged by ovalbumin (OVA), the rosiglitazone group, and the PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone treatment group. The infiltration of peribronchial inflammatory cells as well as the proliferation and mucus secretion of bronchial epithelial goblet cells were observed by hematoxylin and eosin and periodic acid-Schiff staining. Western blots were employed to detect the expression levels of TLR2, PPARγ, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappaB), NLRP3, and ASC [apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing C-terminal caspase recruitment domain [CARD]). RESULTS The number of inflammatory cells and eosinophils, and the levels of OVAs IgE, interleukin-4 (IL-4), and IL-13 were significantly higher in the C57 asthma group compared to the C57 control group and the treatment group (P<0.05). The infiltration of peribronchiolar inflammatory cells, wall thickening, goblet cell hyperplasia, and mucus secretion in the treatment group were all significantly decreased compared to those in the asthma group. PPARg expression in the treatment group was significantly higher compared to the asthma group and the control group (P<0.05). The protein expression levels of TLR2, NF-kappaB, NLRP3, and ASC were significantly lower compared to the asthma group but were higher compared to the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS PPARγ rosiglitazone ameliorates airway inflammation by inhibiting NF-kappaB expression in asthmatic mice, and further inhibits the activation of TLR2/NLRP3 inflammatory corpuscles.
