The article discusses the fascination men have with war. The author describes how throughout the history of the U.S. many prominent politicians have yearned for war as a means to prove their manhood and their mettle. The author notes that Americans at times romanticize war and he states that many journalists and war correspondents became obsessed with the idea of war after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, New York and prior to the start of the Iraq War in 2003. The author opines that as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have drawn on for more than seven years, Americans have grown tired of war.
