BACKGROUND: The knee is one of the most common sites of injuries among soccer players. The incidence of knee injuries can be reduced by improving the neuromuscular control and core stability. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of injury prevention programs that include core stability exercises in reducing the incidence of knee injuries among soccer players. METHODS: Data were obtained from different databases (1985–2021). Only randomized controlled trials that used injury prevention programs that include core stability exercise to prevent knee injuries were included. The keywords used during the search were 'knee injuries', 'core stability exercises', 'FIFA 11 + ', 'prevention of knee injuries', 'anterior cruciate ligament injury' and variations of these search terms. RESULTS: The pooled results of 7828 soccer players and 863700 exposure h showed an overall injury reduction of 56% per 1000 h of exposure in the intervention group compared to the control group with an injury risk ratio of 0.44 (95% CI 0.321–0.619; P = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Injury prevention programs that include core stability exercises reduce knee injury rates among soccer players by 56% (46% in male and 65% in female soccer players). The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) 11+ Kids Injury Prevention Program was developed and shown to effectively reduce football-related injuries in numerous studies. The aim of this study was to assess the awareness, implementation, and opinion of children's football coaches worldwide regarding the FIFA 11+ Kids Injury Prevention Program efficacy using a self-administered questionnaire. Six hundred children's football coaches were invited through their local Football Federations to complete the online survey consisted of questions relating to awareness, implementation, and coaches' opinions of the FIFA 11+ Kids Injury Prevention Program. A total of 486 children's soccer coaches completed the survey. The survey was available in different languages. A total of 202 (41.6%) of the children's football coaches reported awareness of the FIFA 11+ Kids Injury Prevention Program and 155 (31.9%) reported implementing the FIFA 11+ Kids Injury Prevention Program in their current practice. Participants who reported implementation of the FIFA 11+ Kids Injury Prevention Program also reported a positive attitude towards program efficacy, with a score of 8.19±0.88 out of 10. Objective: To compare the complications and associated risk factors between primary and elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) among patients attending emergency department of a tertiary care hospital, Karachi, Pakistan. Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted at Dr. Ziauddin University Hospital, Clifton campus, Karachi, from April 2019 to March 2021. All patients who underwent elective or primary PCI over the age of 18 years were included. The complications such as hypotension, coronary dissection, no-reflow, coronary perforation, arrhythmias, cardiac tamponade, stent thrombosis, and in-hospital death were observed. These complications were followed up till one month after the PCI. Results: Of total 155 patients, the mean age was 60.77 ± 11.15 years. There were 104 (67.1%) males and 51 (32.9%) females. Primary PCI was performed among 103 (66.5%) patients and elective PCI in 52 (33.5%) patients. Complications of PCI was observed in 94 (60.6%) patients. The most common complication presented was no-reflow 31 (32.9%). However, 14 (14.8%) patients presented with hypotension and 10 (10.5%) with hypotension along with no-reflow. Development of new plant breeding techniques have facilitated easy manipulation of plants at genetic level. Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR associated protein9 (Cas9) system is a valuable addition in programmable nucleases. The CRISPR/Cas9 system uses an RNA component to recognize a target DNA sequences and it has shown promising results with respect to simultaneous editing of multigenic plant traits. In this review, components of CRISPR/Cas9, their construction and its methods of delivery to plant cells are analyzed. Variation in nucleotide sequence of the protospacer adjacent motif, codon optimization and progress in web-based bioinformatic tools, will make CRISPR/Cas9 systems more efficient for plants. Development and optimization of protocols to efficiently target all plant species is still under development. Along with this, methods to inspect induced mutation and efficiency of the system have also been reviewed. Auxiliary improvements and understanding are still required to expand the CRISPR/Cas9 systems to target complex genome architectures and epigenetic elements.

Numerical simulation was carried out using Autodyn 2D code to study the formation and tandem behavior of multiliner EFPs (Explosively Formed Projectiles). The main aim of multiliner configuration is to develop tandem behavior and to increase the length of explosively formed projectile in different applications. The high ductility and high dynamic material behavior of Ta (Tantalum) makes it difficult to generate a solid and stable projectile. To get these specific characteristics, mild steel was used for being the most stable liner material in the EFP technology. So when we used mild steel as a stabilization base and tantalum as a penetrator then solid and stable projectile was achieved. The tandem behavior with tantalum-mild steel multiliner configuration was studied. The effects of detonation method, confinement and waveshaper on the multiliner EFP configuration have also been determined by simulation. The detonation method has its effect on the tandem behavior whereas confinement has not. The waveshaper is found to have 40.4% more prominent and faster tandem effect on the multiliner EFPs.

Background: Anemia management in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant challenge for healthcare professionals worldwide. The extensive management of CKD and its complications is directly linked with a substantial treatment burden, which impacts quality of life (QoL). This study aimed to assess the prevalence and management of anemia and to evaluate the treatment burden and its impact on the QoL of CKD and dialysis patients in Pakistan., Methodology: A multicenter prospective observational study was conducted in three hospitals. A total of 170 patients were enrolled, with 156 available for follow-up after six months. Their prior consent was obtained. Each participant was interviewed in person and received a data collection form., Results: At baseline, the prevalence of anemia among CKD (stage 3-5) and dialysis patients was 78.7% and 94.7%, respectively. Patients on dialysis used more erythropoietin stimulating agents (ESAs), with 38.6% at baseline and 40.8% by month six, compared to non-dialysis CKD patients. Oral iron was used by 6.2% of stage 3, 25% of stage 4, 20% of stage 5 patients, and 6.6% of dialysis patients at baseline. At the six-month follow-up, 42.8% of CKD and 33.8% of dialysis patients achieved the target hemoglobin level. Dialysis patients had a higher treatment burden compared to CKD at baseline (77.4±10.6 vs 59.3±13.3) and at six-month visit (79.3±11.1 vs 59.1±14.5). The multiple regression analysis showed that treatment burden had a significant association with age, disease duration, and comorbidity at baseline. There was a significant negative correlation between overall treatment burden and QoL, indicating that QoL decreases as treatment burden increases., Conclusion: Anemia was prevalent, and its management was suboptimal in this study. In the title complex, [Cd(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(4)H(8)N(2)S)(2)], the Cd(II) cation is coordinated by three acetate O atoms and two S atoms of Diaz [Diaz = 1,3-diazinane-2-thione = 3,4,5,6-tetra-hydro-pyrimidine-2(1H)-thione]. The Cd(II) coordination is augmented by one considerably longer Cd-O bond of 2.782 (3) Å to a carboxyl-ate O atom. The resulting coordination polyhedron around the Cd(II) cations can be described as a highly distorted octa-hedron. The Diaz ligand and the acetate anions are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.
