AbstractDeep gob-side entry (DGSE) shows rock burst risk under the condition of kilometer depth and hard roof. Based on the established conditions of the Tengdong coal mine, theoretical analysis, microseismic (MS) monitoring, and numerical modeling were used to study the rock burst mechanism of DGSE. Results show that MS events mainly occurred on the solid side of DGSE and the intense dynamic load was mainly caused by the breaking of low hard roof strata, which can release 2.64 × 105 J elastic energy per meter. The surrounding stress of DGSE was asymmetrical due to the coal pillar yielding and hanging roof’s weight, and the load of coal pillar is negatively correlated with that of solid. Simulation shows the vertical stress evolution of coal pillar and solid shows significant diversity. Coal pillar’s vertical stress first drops sharply, and then increases gradually, finally stable at 10.6 MPa with the DGSE’s excavation. Contrarily, solid’s vertical stress gradually rises and was finally stable at 40.9 MPa. Under roof dynamic loading, the vibration velocity of the entry’s top was higher than that of the floor which was caused by the increase of the propagation distance and the reflection and diffraction effect of waves. The vibration velocity of the coal pillar was significantly higher than that of the solid which is because higher stress can lead to faster attenuation of vibration velocity. After dynamic loading, the coal pillar’s principal stress and principal stress difference decreased while that of the solid can be divided into two drop areas and one rising area. Periodic pressure relief that was carried out in the rising area can reduce the rock burst risk on the solid side of DGSE.

ABSTRACTPeople often simultaneously expose to acceptable/tolerable daily intake of food additives and pesticides in daily life. Exposure in adult rodents to acceptable/tolerable daily intake of food additives and pesticides chemical mixtures (AFACM) is reported to cause health damage. Our recently study reported that AFACM exposure of pregnant mice resulted in neuroinflammation and abnormal emotional behaviours in offspring. Here, we found that neutralising IFN-γ with neutralising antibodies completely blocked the influences induced by maternal AFACM exposure, including the increased IFN-γ level in serum, increased IFN-γ, interleukin-6 and tumour necrosis factor-α levels in prefrontal cortex(PFC) in offspring on postnatal day(PND)7, the abnormal emotional behaviours in offspring on PND56, and the decreased of ATPase phospholipid flippase 8A2(ATP8A2) in the PFC of offspring on PND7. In sum, maternal AFACM exposure induced the PFC neuroinflammation, abnormal emotional behaviours and decreased PFC ATP8A2 expression through increasing systemic IFN-γ in offspring.

Summary: Persistent Fusobacterium nucleatum infection is associated with the development of human colorectal cancer (CRC) and promotes tumorigenicity, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we reported that F. nucleatum promoted the tumorigenicity of CRC, which was associated with F. nucleatum-induced microRNA-31 (miR-31) expression in CRC tissues and cells. F. nucleatum infection inhibited autophagic flux by miR-31 through inhibiting syntaxin-12 (STX12) and was associated with the increased intracellular survival of F. nucleatum. Overexpression of miR-31 in CRC cells promoted their tumorigenicity by targeting eukaryotic initiation factor 4F-binding protein 1/2 (eIF4EBP1/2), whereas miR-31 knockout mice were resistant to the formation of colorectal tumors. In conclusion, F. nucleatum, miR-31, and STX12 form a closed loop in the autophagy pathway, and continuous F. nucleatum-induced miR-31 expression promotes the tumorigenicity of CRC cells by targeting eIF4EBP1/2. These findings reveal miR-31 as a potential diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target in CRC patients with F. nucleatum infection.

Summary: Vigorous-intensity leisure-time physical activity, such as marathon, has become increasingly popular, but its effect on immune functions and health is poorly understood. Here, we performed scRNA-seq analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) after a bout of symptom-limited cardiopulmonary exercise (CPX) test or marathon. Time-series single-cell analysis revealed the detailed series of landscapes of immune cells in response to short and long vigorous-intensity activities. Reduction of effective T cells was observed with the cell migration and motility pathways enriched in circulation following marathon. Baseline values of PBMCs abundance were reached around 1 h after CPX and 24 h following marathon, but longer time was required for expression recovery of cytotoxicity genes. The ratio of effector/naive T cells was found to change uniformly among the participants and could serve as a better indicator for exercise intensity than the CD4+/CD8+ T cell ratio. Moreover, we identified time-dependent monocyte state transitions after marathon.

Abstract Background Burkholderia pseudomallei, a facultative intracellular bacterium, is the aetiological agent of melioidosis that is responsible for up to 40% sepsis-related mortality in epidemic areas. However, no effective vaccine is available currently, and the drug resistance is also a major problem in the treatment of melioidosis. Therefore, finding new clinical treatment strategies in melioidosis is extremely urgent. Results We demonstrated that tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA), a clinically available endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress inhibitor, can promote B. pseudomallei clearance both in vivo and in vitro. In this study, we investigated the effects of TUDCA on the survival of melioidosis mice, and found that treatment with TUDCA significantly decreased intracellular survival of B. pseudomallei. Mechanistically, we found that B. pseudomallei induced apoptosis and activated IRE1 and PERK signaling ways of ER stress in RAW264.7 macrophages. TUDCA treatment could reduce B. pseudomallei-induced ER stress in vitro, and TUDCA is protective in vivo. Conclusion Taken together, our study has demonstrated that B. pseudomallei infection results in ER stress-induced apoptosis, and TUDCA enhances the clearance of B. pseudomallei by inhibiting ER stress-induced apoptosis both in vivo and in vitro, suggesting that TUDCA could be used as a potentially alternative treatment for melioidosis.

Background and PurposeThe clinical diagnosis of Binswanger’s disease (BD), a chronic progressive form of subcortical vascular dementia, remains challenging. 3D pseudo-continuous arterial-spin-labeling (pcASL) and diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) can quantitatively reveal the microcirculation changes and heterogeneity of white matter (WM), respectively. We thus aimed to determine the diagnostic value of the combined 3D-pcASL and DKI in BD.Materials and MethodsA total of 35 patients with BD and 33 healthy controls underwent 3D-ASL and DKI experiments. The perfusion parameter of cerebral blood flow (CBF), diffusion parameters of fractional anisotropy (FA), mean/axial/radial diffusivity (MD/Da/Dr), and kurtosis parameters of anisotropy fraction of kurtosis (FAk) and mean/axial/radial kurtosis MK/Ka/Kr were obtained to quantitatively measure the parametric distributions of functional brain subregions. One-way analysis of variance and post hoc t-test were applied to explore the different distributions of DKI/ASL-derived parameters among brain subregions of BD. In addition, all region-specific DKI/ASL parameters were separately analyzed in Pearson correlation analysis to investigate the relationship with Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), a typical clinical scale for cognitive function assessment in patients with BD.ResultsFA/FAk/MK/Ka/Kr was significantly declined in all WM hyperintensities (WMHs) of BD compared with healthy controls, while the corresponding MD/Da/Dr was significantly increased (all p < 0.005). In addition, significant changes, similar to the WMHs of patients with BD, were also observed in almost all DKI parameters in WM normal areas and genu/splenium of the corpus callosum (GCC/SCC) in BD (p < 0.005). Finally, CBF was significantly reduced in all of the above regions we measured in patients with BD (p < 0.005). For patients with BD, MMSE showed a negative correlation with MD/Da in thalamus (r = −0.42/−0.58; p < 0.05), and a positive correlation with CBF in PWM/TWM (r = 0.49/0.39; p < 0.05). Using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, FA/FAk/Kr in GCC, CBF/FA/Dr/FAk in SCC, MD/Da/Ka in thalamus, and the combined FA/MD/Dr/CBF in TWM showed high accuracy [area under the curves (AUCs) 0.957/0.946/0.942/0.986] in distinguishing patients with BD from healthy controls.ConclusionWe found that combined DKI and 3D-ASL are helpful in diagnosing patients with BD, especially with FA, MD, Dr, and CBF in the temporal WM region. Additionally, the kurtosis parameters of DKI can sensitively monitor the potentially damaged WM areas in patients with BD patients, adding complementary clinical value.

BACKGROUND:The epidemic of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) has become a severe public health problem in the world and has also brought a high economic and health burden. Furthermore, the prevalence of HFMD varies significantly among different locations. However, there have been few investigations of the effects of socioeconomic factors and air pollution factors on the incidence of HFMD. METHODS:This study collected data on HFMD in Shenzhen, China, from 2012 to 2015. We selected eleven factors as potential risk factors for HFMD. A Bayesian spatiotemporal model was used to quantify the influence of the factors on HFMD and to identify the relative risks in different districts. RESULTS:The risk factors of HFMD were the population, population density, concentration of SO2, and concentration of NO2. The relative risks (RRs) were 1.00473 (95% CI: 1.00059-1.00761), 1.00010 (95% CI: 1.00002-1.00016), 1.00215 (95% CI: 1.00170-1.00232) and 1.00058 (95% CI: 1.00028-1.00078), respectively. The protective factors against HFMD were the per capita GDP, the number of public kindergartens, the concentration of PM10, and the concentration of O3. The RRs were 0.98840 (95% CI: 0.98660-0.99026), 0.97686 (95% CI: 0.96946-0.98403), 0.99108 (95% CI: 0.98551-0.99840) and 0.99587 (95% CI: 0.99534-0.99610), respectively. The risk of incidence in Longgang district and Pingshan district decreased, while the risk of incidence in Baoan district increased. CONCLUSIONS:Studies have confirmed that socioeconomic factors and air pollution factors have an impact on the incidence of HFMD in Shenzhen, China. The results will be of great practical significance to local authorities, which is conducive to accurate prevention and can be used to formulate HFMD early warning systems.

Dynamic and static coupling loads (DSLs) are one of the most common stress environments in underground engineering. As the depth of a roadway increases over the life of a mine, the static load of the ground stress field increase multiplies, and the cyclic operation at the working face releases a large amount of dynamic energy. Therefore, deep roadways easily induce dynamic disasters during production. In this paper, a deep roadway numerical model was built with FLAC3D to test the deep roadway under DSLs and was simulated with 16 different support designs. The ground stability in each support condition was examined and compared in terms of the ground deformation and scope of failure. The underlying support mechanism was further analyzed with numerical modeling in view of the deformation in the surrounding rock mass induced by variations in the support parameters. The results show that shortening the bolt spacing is an effective measure to control the deformation of surrounding rock whatever DSLs or static load. Under static load, the larger the anchoring length is, the more stable the surrounding rock is. Under DSLs, end grouting length (S = 600 mm) and full grouting length (S = 1800 mm) can effectively control the deformation of surrounding rocks and enhance the stability of surrounding rocks. The results contribute to the design of supports in the field of underground coal mines and provide a basis for determining the reasonable support scheme for roadways.

To enhance the compressive properties of syntactic foams, a new type of ternary composite named 3D spacer fabric/hollow microspheres reinforced composite (3DSMRC) was designed by adding warp-knitted space fabric (WKSF) into traditional syntactic foam. In order deeply understand the meso-mechanical properties of 3DSMRC composites, the compression tests of 3DSMRC were carried out and the quasi-static compression finite element models were established based on COMSOL Multiphysics. The results show that the compression properties of 3DSMRC were obviously controlled by structures of WKSF. To be specific, the 3DSMRC composites with more spacer yarns per unit area could withstand higher critical load, and with denser surface layers and larger spacer yarns inclination-angle could gain better compression capacities. Meanwhile, different types of microspheres also had important impact on the compression capacities of specimens, which could be improved by using smaller radius ratio (higher strength) microspheres. In addition, the finite element model can accurately reproduce the compression process and stress-strain curves of representative 3DSMRC samples, and then accurately simulate the values of compressive modulus and yield strength. The simulation and experimental studies of 3DSMRC can help to obtain a better and deeper understanding of the compression properties of this new type of composite, and finally provide a useful theoretical reference for the optimization design of 3DSMRC.

In this study, a new type ternary composite, called warp-knitted spacer fabric reinforced syntactic foam (WKSF-SF), with the advantages of high mechanical properties and a lower density, was proposed. Then, a meso-mechanics theoretical model based on the Eshelby−Mori−Tanaka equivalent inclusion method, average stress method and composite hybrid theory was established to predict the compression modulus of WKSF-SF. In order to verify the validity of this model, compression modulus values of theoretical simulations were compared with the quasi-static compression experiment results. The results showed that the addition of suitable WKSF produces at least 15% improvement in the compressive modulus of WKSF-SF compared with neat syntactic foam (NSF). Meanwhile, the theoretical model can effectively simulate the values and variation tendency of the compression modulus for different WKSF-SF samples, and is especially suitable for the samples with smaller wall thickness or a moderate volume fraction of microballoons (the deviations is less than 5%). The study of the meso-mechanical properties of WKSF-SF will help to increase understanding of the compression properties of this new type composite deeply. It is expected that WKSF-SF can be used in aerospace, marine, transportation, construction, and other fields.

The hand foot, and mouth disease (HFMI)) epidemic has become a serious public health problem worldwide with a high economic and health burden. In addition, the prevalence of (HFMI) varies greatly between cities. Therefore, this paper aims to reveal high-risk cities for HFMD and associated meteorological and air pollution factors in Guangdong Province during 2014-2018. Data on the incidence of HFMD mid meteorological and air pollution. factors were obtained from the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Guangdong Meteorological Service. Three different grey incidence analysis (GIA) were used, namely Deng's grey incidence analysis, absolute degree of GIA, and second synthetic degree of GIA. Additionally, GMC (1,1) model was used to predict the trend of HFMD in 2019-2028. According to the second synthetic degree of GIA, the top three cities most affected by HFMD are Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and Foshan. However, the prediction model .found that the incidence of HFMD in Guangdong Province will generally decline in the next 10 years, indicating that the prevention and control measures are still relatively in place. Deng's grey incidence analysis found that CO, %O2, PM2.5, PM10), and wind scale are closely related to the incidence of HFMD. It is recommended to closely monitor weather change and urban air quality and take protective measures against HFMD in advance. Background Cryptosporidiosis in dogs has been reported worldwide, involving both asymptomatic and diarrheic dogs. Large-scale surveys of Cryptosporidium infection in dogs have been performed in some countries using differents diagnostic methods. But, few data are available on the infection rate and molecular characteristics of Cryptosporidium spp. in dogs in China. Result In this study, 770 fecal samples from 66 locations in Henan Province were examined. The average Cryptosporidium infection rate was 3.8%, with dogs in kennels having the highest rate of 7.0% (X2 = 14.82, P < 0.01). The infection rate was 8.0% in dogs younger than 90 days, which was significantly higher than that in the other age groups (1.1-3.8%;X2 = 18.82, P < 0.01). No association was noted between the infection rate and the sex of the dogs. Twenty-nine Cryptosporidium-positive samples were amplified at the small subunit rRNA (SSU rRNA), 70-kDa heat shock protein (HSP70), and actin loci using PCR. Sequence analysis of these amplicons identified only Cryptosporidium canis, which showed 100% identity with the published sequences of the SSU rRNA, HSP70, and actin genes. Conclusions Our results confirm that C. canis is popular in the dog population in China, considering the large number of dogs in China and the close contact between dogs and humans, the role of C. canis in the transmission of human cryptosporidiosis warrants attention. Cluster tools are widely used in wafer fabrication nowadays. Photolithography equipment, the most expensive equipment in wafer fabrication, is comprised of a serial of cluster tools. So far, there has been much research on the assignment of wafers processing in photolithography equipment. Since a production lot may include several kinds of wafer with different routes and the sequence order of wafers in a lot is stochastic, deadlock may occur at any time. Hence, we are not able to determine a schedule before the production batch starts; instead, we need a deadlock-free wafer dispatching method that can not only complete the requested wafer routine procedures but also reduce the total makespan. Here, we employ a transition digraph to check the occurring deadlock and a coloured Petri net (CPN) approach to model the photolithography equipment to ascertain clearly the system state via identification of the kind of wafers situated on respective positions and obtain a smooth and satisfactory control for the executed process. The employed CPN model is a timed high-level Petri net. Also, a well known CPN Tool (http://wiki.daimi.au.dk/cpntools/cpntools.wiki) is used for model editing, simulating and analysing. Accompanied by the photolithography equipment model built, a deadlock-avoidance supervisor is designed to ensure wafer deadlock-free dispatching at each step. Here, we study the local control of defect-mediated turbulence or spiral turbulence via ordered waves in the two- (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE) systems. Depending on the local oscillating frequency resulting from the external periodic injection or the localized inhomogeneity, either spiral waves or target waves could be generated and they may successfully suppress the turbulent waves in the CGLE systems. Rate constants that characterize the kinetics of binding and dissociation between biomolecules carry fundamental information about the biological processes these molecules are involved in. An instrument that is widely used to determine these rate constants is the Biacore. In a Biacore experiment, one of the reactants, which we will call the receptor, is immobilized on a sensor chip. During the binding phase of the experiment the other reactant flows past the chip. After binding, buffer alone is introduced into the flow cell and dissociation is monitored. Often surface-based binding assays are influenced by the transport of the reactant in solution, complicating the determination of the chemical rate constants from the observed binding kinetics. We propose a new way to determine the dissociation rate constant by adding soluble receptor during dissociation. The method is tested first on simulated data and then on Biacore experiments where the lac repressor protein binds and dissociates from a stretch of double stranded DNA containing the lac repressor binding site. With this method we find a dissociation rate constant kd = 0.075 ± 0.005 s-1, a value that is faster than previously obtained from Biacore experiments. In developing our method to analyze these experiments we obtain an expression for the transport limited rate constant for a Biacore experiment when soluble receptor is present during dissociation. The paper presents an omni-directional circularly polarized (CP) helical antenna with an inductive feeding structure. The antenna is comprised of a printed helix with six arms on a thin rolled substrate and a feeding loop, which acts as the radiator and the feeding structure, respectively. The helix is fed by the feeding loop without physical connection through inductive coupling, which is convenient to achieve impedance matching. The 90 phase difference between the radiated horizontal and vertical electric field components is naturally guaranteed by the helix; therefore, circular polarization is achieved through tuning the height and radius of the helix to ensure equal magnitude of the radiated horizontal and vertical field components. With an electrical size of 0.17λ0 x 0.17λ0 x 0.11λ0, the antenna exhibits a simulated impedance bandwidth (|S11| ≤ -10 dB) of 5.72% and AR bandwidth (AR ≤ 3 dB) of 27.4%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
