The intermolecular complexes formed between imidazol-2-ylidene and its heavy-atom analogues C2H4N2X: (X = C, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) and YH3F (Y = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) have been optimized at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. C2H4N2X: have two electron-rich moieties, one of which is the lone pair on the X atom and the other is the 6π-electron system. Three types of binding modes (type-A, type-B and type-C) can be distinguished for C2H4N2X: according to the locations of YH3F. The type-A and type-B complexes can be located for C2H4N2C:···YH3F system, and the Eint values of the type-A complexes are much larger than those of the type-B complexes. The type-A, type-B and type-C complexes can be located for the other four systems, and the Eint values of these complexes go in the order type-B > type-C > type-A. The binding strength of the type-A complexes becomes weaker, and that of the type-B and type-C complexes becomes stronger with the increase of the X atomic number for C2H4N2X:···YH3F system, which can be clarified by the MEP maps of C2H4N2X:. The dual binding behavior of the metallylenes TH2 (T = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) with some selected Lewis acids (T'H3F, T' = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) and bases (N2, HCN, CO, and C6H6) has been investigated by using the high-level quantum chemical method. Two types (type-A and type-B) of tetrel-bonded complexes can be formed for TH2 due to their ambiphilic character. TH2 act as Lewis bases in type-A complexes, and they act as Lewis acids in type-B ones. CO exhibits two binding modes in the type-B complexes, one of which is TH2···CO and the other is TH2···OC. The TH2···OC complexes possess a weaker binding strength than the other type-B complexes. The TH2···OC complexes are referred to as the type-B2 complexes, and the other type-B complexes are referred to as the type-B1 complexes. The type-A complexes exhibit a relatively weak binding strength with Eint (interaction energy) values ranging from –7.11 to –15.55 kJ/mol, and the type-B complexes have a broad range of Eint values ranging from −9.45 to −98.44 kJ/mol. The Eint values of the type-A and type-B1 complexes go in the order SiH2 > GeH2 > SnH2 > PbH2. The AIM (atoms in molecules) analysis suggests that the tetrel bonds in type-A complexes are purely closed-shell interactions, and those in most type-B1 complexes have a partially covalent character. The EDA (Energy decomposition analysis) results indicate that the contribution values of the three energy terms go in the order electrostatic > dispersion > induction for the type-A and type-B2 complexes, and this order is electrostatic > induction > dispersion for the type-B1 complexes. Methods: The intermolecular interactions between the heavy-atom analogues of acetylene T2H2 (T = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb) and HCN have been investigated by theoretical calculations at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ//MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ level. Results: The global energy minimum of T2H2 is the butterfly structure A, and another energy minimum is the planar structure B. Both structures A and B exhibit the dual behavior when binding with HCN. The various hydrogen bond (HB), dihydrogen bond (DB) and tetrel bond (TB) complexes can be found according to the MEP maps of T2H2. One TB and three HB complexes formed between structure A and HCN can be located for Si2H2 and Ge2H2. One TB, two HB and one DB complexes formed between structure A and HCN can be located for Sn2H2 and Pb2H2. Four TB and one HB complexes formed between structure B and HCN can be located for all the T2H2. The geometries and binding strengths of the complexes are compared and analyzed. Conclusions: The interactions in these complexes are generally weak, and the interaction energies of these complexes range from −0.53 to −8.23 kcal/mol. The interaction energies of the TB complexes are larger than those of the corresponding HB and DB complexes for structure A···HCN systems. The relative binding strength of the four TB complexes exhibits different order for different structure B···HCN systems, which is consistent with the MEP maps of the isolated monomers. The binary and ternary complexes composed of GeH3F, AsH2F and ring compounds (benzene, borazine and cyclopentadienyl anion) have been studied by theoretical calculations to understand the interplay between the tetrel bond and pnicogen bond interactions. The bonding strength of intermolecular interactions in these complexes is analyzed by means of atoms in molecules (AIM), natural bond orbital (NBO) and noncovalent interaction (NCI) index methods. The binary tetrel-bonded and pnicogen-bonded complexes can be classified as an n-type or π-type complex according to the orbital interactions involved in the complexes. Three binding modes can be distinguished according to the interplay between interactions for the ternary complexes. The binding mode A is characterized by the interplay between π-type tetrel bond and n-type pnicogen bond; binding mode B is characterized by the interplay between π-type pnicogen bond and n-type tetrel bond, and binding mode C is characterized by the interplay between π-type tetrel bond and π-type pnicogen bond. The binding modes A and B exhibit the synergistic interplay effect, while the antagonistic effect is reflected in mode C. The electron-donating ability of T atoms becomes weaker, and that of π-systems becomes stronger when T atoms become heavier for C 2 H 4 N 2 T:, which is consistent with the molecular electrostatic potentials (MEP) maps of C 2 H 4 N 2 T:. For a given C 2 H 4 N 2 T:, the E int values of the type-A complexes go in the order HF > HCN > C 2 H 2 , and the E int values of the type-B complexes go in the order HF ≈ HCN > C 2 H 2. The contribution of electrostatic energy to the interaction energy of complexes becomes smaller for the type-A complexes when the T atoms become heavier. The interaction energies are dominated by the electrostatic energies for all the type-B complexes involving HF, and the interaction energies are dominated by the dispersion energies for most type-B complexes involving HCN and C 2 H 2. The metal-organic frameworks/cotton fabric composites (MOFs/CFCs) have emerged as a new type of prospective materials for environmental cleanup, due to their convenient recyclability and high removal efficiency towards hazardous pollutants. However, their practical applications are limited by complicated synthetic conditions, insufficient interface bonding and poor adsorption capacity. Herein, for the first time, a robust ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-functionalized MOFs/CFC is prepared based on UiO-66-NH 2 crystals by using EDTA dianhydride as the cross-linking agent, and applied for simultaneous removal of heavy metals and dyes, as well as degradation of chemical warfare agents. The as-prepared EDTA-UiO-66-NH 2 /CFC shows extraordinary monocomponent adsorption performance with maximum adsorption capacity of 158.7, 126.2, 131.5, 117.4 and 104.5 mg/g for Cd(II), Cu(II), methylene blue, crystal violet and safranin O, respectively. Interestingly, in metal-dyes binary system, the uptake of Cu(II) by EDTA-UiO-66-NH 2 /CFC increases significantly when co-existing high concentration of dyes. The results indicate that the synergistic and simultaneous removal of both dyes and metal from complex systems can be realized by EDTA-UiO-66-NH 2 /CFC via multiple mechanisms. The EDTA-UiO-66-NH 2 /CFC also exhibits an outstanding catalytic performance for degrading dimethyl 4-nitrophenylphosphate. Besides, it can be reused for several times without obvious decrease of its adsorption and catalysis efficiencies. More impressively, the cross-linking reaction approach can not only anchor UiO-66-NH 2 crystals firmly onto cotton fabric, but also facilitate in-situ formation of abundant adsorption sties on the adsorbent surface. Figures of persimmons for the world's top ten persimmon producing countries are about 4000,000 tons in 2011 and are increasing every year according to FAO statistics. However, there is not any report on pectin production by microbial with persimmon peel as the source. Optimization of fermentation conditions of pectin production from Aspergillus terreus in submerged culture and partial characterization of pectin were carried out in the work. An optimum fermentation condition for pectin production was obtained through a central composite rotatable design in response surface methodology as follows: fermentation time, 30.09 h, temperature, 25.00 °C and the initial pH in the fermentation medium, 6.90, respectively and the pectin yield reached the maximal value 0.449 g/g. Persimmon peel pectin had highly methoxylated (62.51%), high galacturonic acid content (82.28%) than citrus pectin, and was classified as the highly methoxylated pectin, the results indicated that persimmon peel had potential good resources for pectin production. Three heterotopic ligands L1, L2, and L3have been prepared by the reaction of 4,4′-bis(bromomethyl)-2,2′-bipyridine with 4,5-diazafluoren-9-oxime, 9-(2-hydroxy)phenylimino-4,5-diazafluorene, and 9-(4-hydroxy)phenylimino-4,5-diazafluorene, respectively, in DMF. The three ligands consist of two 4,5-diazafluorene units and one 2,2′-bipyridine unit. Ru(II) complexes [{Ru(bpy)2}3(μ3-L1−3)](PF6)6(bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) were prepared by refluxing Ru(bpy)2Cl2·2H2O and the ligands in 2-methoxyethanol. The three Ru(II) complexes display metal-to-ligand charge-transfer absorption at 445–450 nm and one Ru(II)-centered oxidation at 1.32 V in CH3CN solution at room temperature. Upon excitation into the metal-to-ligand charge-transfer band, the emission intensities of [{Ru(bpy)2}3(μ3-L2)]6+and [{Ru(bpy)2}3(μ3-L3)]6+are almost equal to that of [{Ru(bpy)2}3(μ3-L1)]6+in CH3CN solution at room temperature, but weaker than that of [{Ru(bpy)2}3(μ3-L1)]6+in EtOH–MeOH (4 : 1, v/v) glassy matrix at 77 K. A new zirconia-based stationary phase (DPZ) was prepared by modifying zirconia with dodecylamine- N, N-dimethylenephosphonic acid (DDPA). DDPA was adsorbed on zirconia with only one phosphonic group, with the other being free. Besides the hydrophobic interaction provided by nonpolar dodecyl, DPZ also has dipolar interaction, ion-exchange or electrostatic repellent interaction provided by the free phosphonic group and amino group at different conditions. Separation of bases on this stationary phase was achieved with satisfaction owing to the various retention mechanisms. A novel ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complex bearing 1,8-naphthyridine was successfully designed and synthesized. This complex was fully characterized by EI-HRMS, NMR, and elemental analyses. The recognition properties of the complex for various metal ions were investigated. The results suggested that the complex displayed high selectivity and sensitivity for Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions with good anti-interference in the CH3CN/H2O (1:1, v/v) solution. The fluorescent chemosensor showed obvious fluorescence quenching when the Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions were added. The detection limits of Cu2+ and Fe3+ were 39.9 nmol/L and 6.68 nmol/L, respectively. This study suggested that this Ru(II) polypyridyl complex can be used as a high selectivity and sensitivity fluorescent chemosensor for Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The reactions of NbS+ (3∑−, 1Γ) with COS have been studied using density functional theory at the B3LYP level: the O/S exchange reaction (NbS+ +COS→NbO+ +CS2), the S-transfer reaction (NbS+ +COS→ +CO) and the O-transfer reaction (NbS+ +COS→ONbS+ +CS). The different mechanisms on the triplet and singlet surfaces have been identified. It is found that the S-transfer reaction has two parallel reaction paths (path A and path B) with respective to two isomeric products (-1 and -2), which may account, respectively, for the endothermic and the exothermic features of the product cross-section observed in the experiment. The spin-forbidden reaction NbS+ (3∑−)+COS→ (1-A′)+CO was found to be energetically much more favorable than the spin-allowed reaction NbS+ (3∑−)+COS→ (3-A′)+CO. According to the identified reaction mechanisms, a triplet–singlet surface crossing is suggested. The larger activation barriers (23.7 and 59.5kcal/mol) and the small probability of the formation of the preceding intermediate 3IM1 result in a much lower efficiency of the O/S exchange reaction and the O-transfer reaction of the 3∑− ground state of NbS+ with COS. Abstract: Uniform and monodispersed TiO2 hollow spheres with nanoporous titania shell are prepared successfully by using carboxyl-functionalized polystyrene spheres as templates. The results show that TiO2 hollow spheres pose a stable reversible capacity of 230 mAhg−1 at 33.5 mAg−1 and 120 mAhg−1 at 1675 mAg−1, which are higher than that of bulk TiO2 with coarse grain. The discharge process of TiO2 hollow spheres are suggested containing three consecutive stages: the formation of tetragonal Li x TiO2 solid solution, coexistence of two-phase mixture of Li0.05TiO2 and Li0.5TiO2 at 1.75 V and additional lithium storage in the surface. The superior high rate and high capacity performance of prepared TiO2 hollow spheres are due to its highly reversible additional surface capacities and accommodation of phase transformation within nanostructure. Abstract: The reaction mechanism of the Mn+ (7 S and 5 S states) with COS has been studied by means of density functional method (B3LYP). The overall energetics has been refined at the CCSD (T) level. The calculated results indicate that both the C–S and C–O bond activations proceed via an insertion–elimination mechanism. The C–S bond activation is found to be much more favorable than the C–O bond activation. Intersystem crossing between the septuplet and quintet surfaces may occur along both the C–O and C–S bond activation branches. The calculated barriers of spin-forbidden reaction Mn+ (7 S)+COS→MnS+ (5 Π)+CO and spin-allowed reaction Mn+ (7 S)+COS→MnS+ (7 Π)+CO are 17.6 and 43.8kcal/mol, respectively, which are in good agreement with the values assigned in the experiment. Background: Conditional survival (CS) considers the time already survived after surgery and may provide additional survival information. The authors sought to construct and validate novel conditional survival nomograms for the prediction of conditional overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of colorectal signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) patients., Methods: Patients diagnosed with stage I-III SRCC between 2010 and 2019 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. The formula calculating CS was: CS(x|y) = S(x+y)/S(x), where S(x) represents the survival at x years. CS nomograms were then constructed to predict the 5-year conditional OS and CSS, followed by internal validation., Results: A total of 944 colorectal SRCC patients were finally identified in this study. The 5-year OS and CSS improved gradually with additional survival time. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis conducted in training set revealed that age, race, T stage, LNR, and perineural invasion were independent risk factors for both OS and CSS. Two nomograms with considerable predictive ability were successfully constructed [area under the curve (AUC) for OS: 0.788; AUC for CSS: 0.847] and validated (AUC for OS: 0.773; AUC for CSS: 0.799) for the prediction of 5-year OS and CSS, based on the duration of 1-4 years post-surgery survival., Conclusions: The probability of achieving 5-year OS and 5-year CSS in colorectal SRCC patients improved gradually with additional time. The objective of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the association between LncRNA MALAT1 and the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis in patients with bladder cancer. Related studies were searched from Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI and Web of Science up to Sep 1, 2021. Basic characteristic and prognostic data were extracted from the included studies. We synthesized and compared primary outcomes such as overall survival. Based on the cut-off value, sample size, and follow-up time, subgroup analysis was conducted. We calculated the combined hazard ratio (HR), odds ratio (OR), and 95% confidence interval (CI) to assess the relationship between LncRNA MALAT1 and prognosis clinicopathological features of bladder cancer patients. Seven studies with 822 patients were included in this meta-analysis. The results showed that the high lncRNA MALAT1 was significantly related to poor overall survival (HR = 2.34, 95% CI:1.61-3.38; P<0.001) in bladder cancer patients. Furthermore, a high level of LNCRNA MALAT1 is associated with lymph node metastasis (LNM) (OR = 1.82, 95% CI 1.32-2.52, P <0.001) in bladder cancer. The results of sensitivity analysis showed the stabilization and reliability of results in this Meta-analysis. In conclusion, elevated LncRNA MALAT1 is associated with a poor prognosis and a higher risk of LNM in patients with bladder cancer. LncRNA MALAT1 could be identified as a biomarker with a potential prognostic value in bladder cancer.

Aims: This research sought to assess the perceived levels of participation and autonomy in senior patients who had received total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in Hangzhou, China. Furthermore, the study aimed to identify the factors linked to these outcomes., Study Design: This investigation will utilize a cross-sectional study design to assess perceived participation and autonomy among older adults total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients. The research was conducted in Hangzhou, China, at a tertiary hospital., Methods: Convenient sampling was utilized to select 139 patients who underwent THA or TKA between March 2022 and March 2023 and met the inclusion criteria at a tertiary hospital in Hangzhou. The Impact on Participation and Autonomy Questionnaire, Hip/Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS/KOOS), 5-Item Geriatric Depression Scale, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and Elders Health Empowerment Scale were used to assess perceived participation, hip/knee-related symptoms and functional restrictions, depression symptoms, social support, and health empowerment., Results: The mean score for perceived participation and autonomy was 22.554 (SD: 13.042). The mean scores for participation in indoor autonomy, outdoor autonomy, family roles, and social relations were 0.654 (SD: 0.608), 1.324 (SD: 0.792), 1.053 (SD: 0.657), and 0.664 (SD: 0.542), respectively. Negative correlations were observed between perceived participation/autonomy scores and HOOS/KOOS, social support, and health empowerment scores. Conversely, a positive correlation was found between perceived participation/autonomy scores and depression scores. The detrimental effect of HOOS/KOOS, social support, and health empowerment scores on perceived participation and autonomy was notable, while the impact of depressive symptoms was comparatively minor., Conclusion: Older Chinese patients, at first six months post THA/TKA surgery, reported higher levels of perceived participation compared to individuals with other conditions, such as stroke patients. Functional limitations resulting from hip/knee-related symptoms, as well as social support and health empowerment, emerged as significant influencing factors for perceived participation and autonomy. In this study, polyaminophosphoric acid (PA)-functionalized ion-imprinted chitosan (CS) aerogel was fabricated for the first time, exhibiting good antibacterial property for selective La(III) recovery and oil/water separation. The as-prepared PA-CS-IIA-2 shows a remarkable adsorption capacity of 114.6 mg/g toward La(III) and high selectivity in the competitive adsorption systems, which is attributed to its abundant imprinting sites and surface functional groups. Benefiting from the amphiphilic property, the PA-CS-IIA-2 also exhibits an excellent adsorption performance for the extractant, oils, and organic solvents. Besides, the PA-CS-IIA-2 presents excellent regeneration and reusability characteristics. Moreover, compared with CS, the PA-CS-IIA-2 exhibits a significantly improved antibacterial activity originating from the PA component. Most importantly, the PA-CS-IIA-2 aerogel is capable of removing multiple pollutants all together and effectively inhibiting bacteria in the complex wastewater environments. Therefore, this study paves the way for developing high-performance rare-earth capture materials with multiple functions to meet diverse applications.

The degree of lung injury was assessed by histological analysis, lung's wet weight/body weight, and protein levels in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). Sequencing was performed on the BGISEQ-500 platform. Differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) were screened with the DEGseq software. The target genes of DEMs were predicted by iRNAhybrid, miRanda, and TargetScan., Results: Compared with LPS-injured mice, MSC MVs reduced lung water and total protein levels in the BALF, demonstrating a protective effect. 52 miRNAs were differentially expressed following treatment with MSC MVs in ARDS mice. Among them, miR-532-5p, miR-223-3p, and miR-744-5p were significantly regulated. Gene Ontology (GO) function and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses revealed the target genes were mainly located in the cell, organelle, and membrane. Furthermore, KEGG pathways such as ErbB, PI3K-Akt, Ras, MAPK, Toll, and Wnt signaling pathways were the most significant pathways enriched by the target genes., Conclusion: MSC MVs treatment was involved in alleviating lung injury and promoting lung tissue repair by dysregulated miRNAs.

HBED-CC ( N,N' -bis[2-hydroxy-5-(carboxyethyl)benzyl]ethylene diamine- N,N' -diacetic acid, L 1 ) is a common bifunctional chelating agent in preparation of 68 Ga-radiopharmaceuticals. Due to its high stability constant for the Ga 3+ complex (logK GaL = 38.5) and its acyclic structure, it is well known for a rapid and efficient radiolabelling at ambient temperature with Gallium-68 and its high in vivo stability. [ 99m Tc][Tc(CO) 3 (H 2 O) 3 ] + is an excellent precursor for radiolabelling of biomolecules. The aim of this study was to develop a novel preparation method of 99m Tc-HBED-CC complexes. In this study, HBED-CC-NI (2,2'-(ethane-1,2-diylbis((2-hydroxy-5-(3-((2-(2-nitro-1H-imidazol-1-yl)ethyl)amino)-3-oxopropyl)benzyl)-azanediyl))-diacetic acid, L 2 ), a derivative of HBED-CC, was designed and synthesized. Both L 1 and L 2 were radiolabelled by [ 99m Tc][Tc(CO) 3 (H 2 O) 3 ] + successfully for the first time. In order to explore the coordination mode of metal and chelates, non-radioactive Re(CO) 3 L 1 and Re(CO) 3 L 2 were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically. Tc(CO) 3 L 1 and Tc(CO) 3 L 2 in solution were calculated by density functional theory and were analysed with radio-HPLC chromatograms. It showed that [ 99m Tc]Tc(CO) 3 L 2 forms two stable diastereomers in solution, which is similar to those of [ 68 Ga]Ga-HBED-CC complexes. Natural bond orbital analysis through the natural population charges revealed a charge transfer between [ 99m Tc][Tc(CO) 3 ] + and L 1 or L 2 . The experimental results showed that tricarbonyl technetium might form stable complex with HBED-CC derivatives, which is useful for the future application of using HBED-CC as a bifunctional chelating agent in developing new 99m Tc-radiopharmaceuticals as diagnostic imaging agents., Competing Interests: We declare we have no competing interests., (© 2019 The Authors.)

A novel ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complex bearing 1,8-naphthyridine was successfully designed and synthesized. This complex was fully characterized by EI-HRMS, NMR, and elemental analyses. The recognition properties of the complex for various metal ions were investigated. The results suggested that the complex displayed high selectivity and sensitivity for Cu 2+ and Fe 3+ ions with good anti-interference in the CH 3 CN/H 2 O (1:1, v / v ) solution. The fluorescent chemosensor showed obvious fluorescence quenching when the Cu 2+ and Fe 3+ ions were added. The detection limits of Cu 2+ and Fe 3+ were 39.9 nmol/L and 6.68 nmol/L, respectively. This study suggested that this Ru(II) polypyridyl complex can be used as a high selectivity and sensitivity fluorescent chemosensor for Cu 2+ and Fe 3+ ions.

Non-contact and remote measurements of vital physical signals are important for reliable and comfortable physiological self-assessment. We presented a novel optical imaging-based method to measure the vital physical signals. Using a digital camera and ambient light, the cardiovascular pulse waves were extracted better from human color facial videos correctly. And the vital physiological parameters like heart rate were measured using a proposed signal-weighted analysis method. The measured HRs consistent with those measured simultaneously with reference technologies (r=0.94, p<0.001 for HR). The results show that the imaging-based method is suitable for measuring the physiological parameters, and provide a reliable and comfortable measurement mode. The study lays a physical foundation for measuring multi-physiological parameters of human noninvasively.
