The manufacturing of pharmaceuticals also produces wastes, mainly wastewaters (WWs). These WWs must be responsibly managed. Sometimes, the organic contents of these WWs are not easily removable in standard WW treatment, hence technical options must be investigated to pretreat such WWs in order to remove or destroy the recalcitrant compounds, mostly the active pharmaceutical ingredients themselves. This contribution from a pharmaceuticals company describes WW assessment and management principles, the search for pretreatment options and several case studies on WW (pre)treatment at some pharma production sites of the Roche Group.

Aiming at the carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) of poor electrical conductivity which will lead to thermal stress damage due to intense Joule effect under lightning strikes, electro-thermal-structure coupling models of CFRP lightning strikes were established. By analyzing the thermal strain, thermal stress and status of the modified and unmodified CFRP, their thermal expansion characteristics were compared. Compared with the unmodified CFRP, the thermal strain peak value of the modified CFRP is respectively increased by 36.33%, 53.92%, 66.62%, and the thermal stress peak value of them is respectively reduced by 22.63%, 26.53%, and 9.45% in the absence of dielectric breakdown. But in the breakdown state, both specimens appear complete delamination damage, the protective effect of matrix modification becomes invalid. The thermal stress damage is found having little effect on the damage morphology of the specimens after lightning strikes by comparing their CT images.

What kind of drainage system should be adopted after the volumetric fracturing of the glutenite reservoir in the Mahu 1 well area, lack of systematic research. The reasonable choice of the size of the nozzle is the key to determining the flow back of the fracturing fluid and stable production. By comparing the applicability differences of fracturing and drainage systems at home and abroad, this paper analyzes the production experience of neighboring areas and determines the overall principles of drainage system: small displacement principle, stable drainage principle and step-by-step amplification principle. Then, by calculating the rate of change of oil production, analyzing the system well test curve and production curve, and determining a reasonable drainage system, it is concluded that the volume of the glutenite reservoir after fracturing should be 1.5 mm small nozzle, and the pressure is gradually stabilized. The grade is replaced by a 2.5 mm nozzle. Most of the wells are finally stabilized in the 3.0 mm nozzle production. A small number of wells can be properly enlarged to a 3.5mm nozzle for stable production. Under the guidance of this understanding, the horizontal wells in the Mahu 1 well area have basically reached the design capacity, providing theoretical basis and guidance for the production practice after volume fracturing.

The model of risk control matrix is established. From the responsibilities, tools, methods, monitor and other dimensions about the post roles involved of the AIT process, how to establish a risk management system based on the identification, assessment, analysis and control of the whole AIT process is researched. In this risk management system, through technology subject, quantitative topic, process improve, Quality Control (QC) subjects, implementation of product assurance elements, writing Standard Operating procedure (SOP), maintaining system documents, combing knowledge and operation taboo items and other method is used.
