- Abstract
Raoultella planticola is a rare environmental bacteria. It is currently associated with an increasing number of human infections including those of soft tissues, pancreatitis, urinary tract infections, gastro-intestinal and oropharyngeal. We report the first case of R. planticola meningitis in a newborn. The objective of this study is to report a case of neonatal meningitis caused by R. planticola and to present the difficulties of management in our working conditions. R. planticola bacterial meningitis in newborns is serious. The ability of R. planticola to be a multiresistant organism to common antibiotics underlines the need for special attention from medical personnel in this age group with early and appropriate treatment.
