The article reports on a conference on the history of natural disasters, held in Munich, Germany, from May 18-19, 2012. Topics discussed included the importance of the field of environmental history to modern historiography, media reporting on two chemical accidents at the BASF chemical plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany, in 1921 and 1948, and the 1957 accident at the Majak (Mayak) nuclear reprocessing facility in the Chelyabinsk district of Russia.

Resumo Este texto tem como objetivo compreender, a partir de narrativas de mulheres lésbicas do interior do estado de São Paulo, os modos como se articulam as performatividades de gênero e as trajetórias educacionais. Para tanto, realizaram-se sete entrevistas abertas de caráter narrativo que foram problematizadas a partir das contribuições dos Estudos de Gênero com Perspectiva Feminista. Com os dados construídos no decorrer deste estudo, chegou-se à conclusão de que a visibilidade e a hipervisibilidade estavam condicionadas às performatividades de gênero das participantes e que suas corporalidades foram observadas, controladas, negociadas, refutadas e educadas de tal modo que a lesbofobia atuou como recurso educativo.

Abstract Background Cattle resistance to ticks is known to be under genetic control with a complex biological mechanism within and among breeds. Our aim was to identify genomic segments and tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with tick-resistance in Hereford and Braford cattle. The predictive performance of a very low-density tag SNP panel was estimated and compared with results obtained with a 50 K SNP dataset. Results BayesB (π = 0.99) was initially applied in a genome-wide association study (GWAS) for this complex trait by using deregressed estimated breeding values for tick counts and 41,045 SNP genotypes from 3455 animals raised in southern Brazil. To estimate the combined effect of a genomic region that is potentially associated with quantitative trait loci (QTL), 2519 non-overlapping 1-Mb windows that varied in SNP number were defined, with the top 48 windows including 914 SNPs and explaining more than 20% of the estimated genetic variance for tick resistance. Subsequently, the most informative SNPs were selected based on Bayesian parameters (model frequency and t-like statistics), linkage disequilibrium and minor allele frequency to propose a very low-density 58-SNP panel. Some of these tag SNPs mapped close to or within genes and pseudogenes that are functionally related to tick resistance. Prediction ability of this SNP panel was investigated by cross-validation using K-means and random clustering and a BayesA model to predict direct genomic values. Accuracies from these cross-validations were 0.27 ± 0.09 and 0.30 ± 0.09 for the K-means and random clustering groups, respectively, compared to respective values of 0.37 ± 0.08 and 0.43 ± 0.08 when using all 41,045 SNPs and BayesB with π = 0.99, or of 0.28 ± 0.07 and 0.40 ± 0.08 with π = 0.999. Conclusions Bayesian GWAS model parameters can be used to select tag SNPs for a very low-density panel, which will include SNPs that are potentially linked to functional genes. It can be useful for cost-effective genomic selection tools, when one or a few key complex traits are of interest.

In this sense, it presents the theoretical frameworks for the proposed approach, which is worth the specificity of the categories developed within the science of religions, taking the religious phenomenon by their own religious and specific aspects, using then John Calvin’s political theology as initial sample analysis.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of Quality of Participation Experiences (QPE) on young people’s perceptions about the Young Mayor project’s impact. Design/methodology/approach: This study explores statistical analyses (i.e., cluster analysis and linear regression analysis) of a survey sample (N = 961) involving young people aged between 12 and 18 years to assess differences between groups reporting different levels of QPE (i.e., low, medium and high). Findings: Participants who had participation experiences with higher developmental quality (i.e., with effective and meaningful opportunities for action and reflection) are more involved in the Young Mayor project, have more positive perceptions about it, and report more civic and political participation experiences in their communities. Research limitations/implications: The cross-sectional design of this study does not allow to make causal inferences. Therefore, a longitudinal study should be conducted to clarify the relationship between the dimensions under analysis, promoting a better understanding of the impacts of the Young Mayor project on young people’s attitudes and perceptions. Practical implications: Local projects should promote participation experiences with higher developmental quality to foster their impacts on young people.

Este artigo aborda a promoção de práticas reflexivas pelo supervisor pedagógico na formação docente de uma instituição municipal de ensino. Busca analisar como o supervisor pedagógico intervém nas práticas pedagógicas dos professores e de que forma realiza essas intervenções. Evidencia-se a importância de a escola de Educação Infantil ser uma instituição reflexiva, repensando a importância do professor ao refletir sobre as ações pedagógicas. A abordagem metodológica usada para a realização do estudo foi a pesquisa bibliográfica visando aprofundar os conceitos básicos ligados ao tema. Em seguida, foram realizadas entrevistas para o desenvolvimento da investigação em busca de uma compreensão interpretativa das informações obtidas. Utiliza-se o conceito de Prática Reflexiva como um momento de reflexão crítica problematizando a realidade, bem como analisando, refletindo e reelaborando a ação pedagógica do professor e do supervisor.

O presente artigo apresenta estudos sobre a formação de professores e a contribuição do Pibid no subprojeto dos anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental na construção da prática docente em uma instituição de ensino superior. Para atingir os objetivos propostos, foi realizada uma pesquisa de natureza bibliográfica, com abordagem qualitativa. Quanto aos procedimentos, foi organizada uma pesquisa exploratório-descritiva, bem como a coleta de dados através de um questionário com questões abertas, aplicado a nove acadêmicas do curso de Pedagogia e bolsistas do Pibid do Curso de Pedagogia. O artigo destaca a necessidade do diálogo entre os processos formativos e o contexto das escolas públicas. A partir da pesquisa realizada, procuramos evidenciar como uma política pública pode trazer resultados positivos à formação inicial de professores.

O artigo faz parte de uma pesquisa cujo objetivo foi compreender o processo histórico da escrita, como a criança desenvolve o grafismo infantil e como ela se apropria do sistema de escrita alfabética. A pesquisa utiliza a abordagem qualitativa, descritiva e bibliográfica, com coleta de dados através das produções escritas das crianças de dois a oito anos de idade em duas escolas municipais de Taquara. A análise foi realizada através da escrita das crianças: garatujas, palavras e frases demonstrando a evolução do grafismo infantil e da escrita nos seus diferentes níveis até chegar à escrita alfabética. Os resultados mostram que a criança passa por um processo de construção e evolução que acontece à medida que ela vai interagindo com o desenho e a escrita. Durante essa interação, ela se apropria de conhecimentos que a ajudam a construir cada fase do desenho e da escrita e, por fim, chegar à escrita alfabética.

Neste artigo procuramos mostrar que o relativismo moderado é relevante para uma concepção adequada da racionalidade científica. Palavras-chave: Relativismo cognitivo, conhecimento científico, racionalidade científica, incomensurabilidade.

The Montesinho Natural Park (MNP), with an area of about 750 km2, is one of the largest protected areas in Portugal. Since its inauguration as a natural park in 1979, geological and geomorphological aspects have not been taken into consideration in its nature conservation policies. Over the last few years, this deficit has been compensated with an assessment of its geomorphological heritage. The assessment was made possible due to a research project on the geological heritage of the natural parks of north-eastern Portugal.The assessment method propagated herein proposes a clear definition of three types of geomorphosites: Single places, geomorphological areas or panoramic viewpoints. Further, it proposes as two-staged approach to assessment with inventory compilation followed by quantification of value. Inventory compilation, for example, involves the identification and qualitative assessment of potential geomorphosites and, therefore, the selection and characterization of geomorphosites. The quantification stage includes the numerical assessment of sites and their final ranking. The values are numerically assessed using selected criteria. The implementation of this approach in the MNP led to the identification of 154 potential geomorphosites, of which only 26 were selected after the qualitative assessment or characterisation process. The numerical assessment of the sites and their ranking allowed a final selection of 13 sites for public use.
