This activity focuses on improving the technology of the crackers drying process to enhance the quality and efficiency of crackers products for the “Kampung Kerupuk” community in Tambakrejo Village, Sidoarjo Regency. The main issue addressed is the conventional method of crackers drying, reliant solely on sunlight, leading to difficulties, especially during the rainy season. The methodology employed in this community service is Participatory Action Research (PAR), actively involving the “Kampung Kerupuk” community in every activity. The achieved outcomes of the community service activities are evident through the improvement observed in pretest to post-test scores during the socialization and education on the technology of crackers drying. The pretest and post-test results exhibit an increase, with an average pretest score of 40 rising to 84 in the post-test. The community service has generated several outputs, including an understanding of crackers drying technology, the creating of an appropriate technology in the form of a crackers drying machine powered by LPG, and the establishment of the organizational structure for the “Kampung Kerupuk” community. This appropriate technology proves instrumental in improving the quality and efficiency of crackers production for the “Kampung Kerupuk” in Tambakrejo Village, Sidoarjo.

This Community Partnership Program Activity (PKM) partners with Putri’s Home Cooking, a culinary SME located in Desa Legok, Tangerang, Banten. One crucial aspect of the business is marketing, and the challenges faced by the partner include difficulty in acquiring new customers, the absence of online sales, and the lack of food product labels. The objective of this activity is to utilize technology and science (IPTEK) for culinary SME business strategies to introduce and enhance the ongoing business for the betterment of the community's welfare.The issue confronted by the partner is the limited marketing reach. The solution to this issue involves creating an e-commerce website. The execution method for this activity consists of two phases: firstly, analyzing the partner's situation and conditions, and secondly, preparing the transfer of Appropriate Technology (TTG). The outcomes achieved include product photos for marketing purposes and the design of an e-commerce website, which can be used to market their products, thus helping the partner's culinary SME products from Desa Legok gain wider recognition.

The problems the Smoke-liquid Craftsman Group often faces are production capacity, product quality, and low selling prices. Low production capacity due to the limited ability distillation machine. The low quality of smoke-liquid products is due to the absence of standard quality. The smoke produced from the coconut shell charcoal production process has the potential to disturb the environment, so it has been carried out the process of melting smoke into liquid, which is then called smoke-liquid. However, the resulting smoke-liquid is still mixed with ash, brown colour, and intense aroma, and still contains much tar, so it does not meet the standard quality for food preservatives the price is low. The objective of this activity is to apply appropriate technology is carried out by enforcing standard product quality and repairing distillation machines to produce high-quality smoke liquid. This one is to support renewable and environmentally friendly energy programs while being able to increase revenue. Appropriate Technology (TTG) is in the form of improvements in distillation technology, which was previously a distiller using annular pipes, where the inner pipe is 1/2 inch. The outer pipe diameter is 1.5 inches and is changed with parallel heat pipe exchanger technology using an inner pipe with a diameter of 1 inch and an outer pipe with a diameter of 4 inches. The result of this service is prototyping a new distillation machine that can increase the production capacity and quality of liquid smoke that meets the specified standard quality and increase the selling price four times.

Increasing Production of Integrated-Vegetable and Fish in the Biofloc-Aquaponic System in Tanjung Johor Village, Jambi City. Tanjung Johor is a fish-producing center in Jambi City. However, the biofloc pond of Sekintang Dayo Farmers Group was minimally managed, so the fish yield and the farmer's income is low. The technology that was the potential to be applied was biofloc-aquaponics. Biofloc-aquaponics technology is a technology in agriculture which is integrated vegetable and fish cultivation. This technology was considered adaptive and effective in Tanjung Johor Village because this area was a populated residential area, limited land availability, prone to flooding, and the community still faced food sufficiency problems. The main principle of this technology was to conserve soil and water and increase farming efficiency through the use of nutrients from fish feed residues as a nutrient source for plants, so it is environmentally friendly. The objective of this community service was to overcome problems in the community, especially members of the Sekintang Dayo farmer group, through simple environmentally friendly technology, namely biofloc-aquaponics in integrated fish and vegetable cultivation. This activity used Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, where members of the Sekintang Dayo Fish Farmer Group interact with each other to identify the problems they face and find appropriate solutions. Group members actively followed, applied, and developed technology of biofloc-aquaponics cultivation. The program evaluation at the final stage of this activity showed an improvement in farmers' understanding and skills from 49.29% to 97.14%. The farmer group members are admitted to develop the knowledge gained and will design their own biofloc-aquaponic device by utilizing existing resources.

This service activity aims to empower the community through appropriate technology in managing clean water to make it easier for the people of Samaenre Village to obtain clean water at a low cost. The method of carrying out this devotion used Participatory Rural Appraisal through discussion, mentoring, compiling product quality standards, designing production processes, and developing marketing strategies through marketing research results. The result of service showed that the community got relief in terms of payment of clean water tariff, where previously, each cubic was valued at 3000 rupiahs. With the presence of solar system panels, it could reduce costs to 2000 rupiahs per cubic. Meanwhile, from the management, in this case, Bumdes Samaenre could also save production costs because it no longer used generator power or PLN electricity with a reasonably high load rate and was not worried about frequent lights out.

The physical and mechanical properties of the material to be processed are fundamental and continue to be a challenge for researchers to design a machine appropriately. Studies of the soybean engineering properties have not been widely highlighted and reviewed. This makes researchers and engineers of soybean processing machines still have to search through experimentation or read deeply through scientific papers before applying it. Therefore, this paper presents highlights and reviews of studies related to the measurement and modelling of soybean engineering properties. The objective is to study methodologies uses and identify future research directions to get a result in more accuracy. Several papers are searched from various search engines for scientific articles that are available online. Some keywords and a combination of keywords used in the search process are “physical properties”, “mechanical properties”, “soybean grains” and “moisture-dependent”. The results show that ten scientific papers are strictly related to the measurement and modelling of the engineering properties of soybean. In general, the documents found were in the period 1993 to 2012. The research paper investigated the engineering properties of soybean in the moisture content ranges from 6.7% (d.b.) to 49.7% (d.b.). The widely studied physical properties are diameter, surface area, roundness, the weight of 1000 soybeans, bulk density, and true density associated with moisture content. Mechanical parameters investigated include friction coefficient, angle of repose, terminal velocity, angle of internal friction, rupture force, and rupture energy. On the one hand, some of the engineering properties of soybeans that have not yet been discovered are thermal, optical, and aerodynamic properties. On the other hand, the effect of soaking and blanching on changes in the engineering properties of soybean (physical, mechanical, thermal, optical, and aerodynamic) has not been done in-depth. Besides that, most of the soybean processing agro-industry requires engineering properties of soybean to be able to design their machines more precisely. One of the agro-industries that need data on the study results of the nature of engineering with these treatments is the tofu processing industry.

The Base Genep Bali I Kadek Keceg business is run by 3 elderly people who have exceeded their productive age. At the beginning of the establishment of this business is to make neighbors and relatives base bali for religious ceremonies. This business initially only produced 20 packs per day which later grew and produced up to 200 packs per day. At this time, there are obstacles in the form of limited production equipment which causes the length of the production process, the absence of product packaging, lack of financial and marketing management. Based on the problems encountered, activities are carried out starting from production, financial management to marketing. The activity began with socialization, providing assistance for product production equipment with simple appropriate machines and technology, providing packaging label assistance, financial management training, making social media and providing business name signs. Based on the results of the evaluation, activities to increase production equipment have an impact on reducing production time and adding 1 product variation, namely base kesuna Cekuh, but in terms of income and production capacity, it is still due to sluggish market conditions during the covid-19 pandemic Financial management training activities have an impact on increasing financial knowledge. For the use of online marketing media in the form of Facebook and Instagram, currently 1 partner member (the owner's son) has been able to manage content. Community service is carried out by universities to apply appropriate technology resulting from scientific development for the community. Even the Bali State Polytechnic, through community service activities carried out by lecturers in collaboration with students, should help SMEs affected by Covid-19. Rai Kajol is a partner in this activity which is located in Banjar Mawangkaja, Lodtunduh, Ubud. Rai Kajol produces Balinese betutu and grilled chicken. The obstacles faced by partners today are the equipment used is still limited, so it takes a long time to produce on a large scale, product marketing is still conventional so that customers are limited to consumers around the place of business. Based on the problems faced, activities related to production management and marketing will be carried out, especially online marketing. The activity started with socialization, providing production-supporting equipment such as a spice crusher, roasting equipment, pressure cooker, providing packaging label assistance and training on packaging and packaging labeling, making social media, and training on the use of social media. The indicators of achievement are the increase in the amount of production and the efficiency of production time. attractive and environmentally friendly product packaging, product-market enhancement. Based on the results of the evaluation, it was found that the addition of production equipment can speed up the production process, increase the amount of production and add variants of partner business products. Jamu (herbal medicine) is included in traditional health drinks that its processing is often less hygienic. The purpose of this community service program is to improve the cleanliness of the herbal medicine-making process in the herbal medicine group in Malang through the provision of hygienic herbal medicine processing machines. Community service activities were carried out in 2018 by involving herbal medicine groups in Tegalgondo and Jetis Villages, Malang. The community service activities included analyzing the conditions and needs of partners, designing herbal medicine machines as needed, as well as assisting the use of machines. The implementation methods in this service program were discussion and training. The result of this service activity was an increase in partner knowledge regarding the importance of hygiene and the use of appropriate technology in herbal medicine processing. After the training was carried out, service partners began to be moved to process jamu more hygienically. Furthermore, assistance and technology-based marketing training activities also need to be carried out.
